ITT: rapist gerbils became a fun Hamtaro-esque adventurer!
>>
>>35777719
we do need some amount of personality for the others in her group, even if its not as thought out.
>>
OH YEAH. TIME FOR /TG/ GERBIL.

What's the /tg/ gerbil? It might be a hamster, who knows, who cares, but it's small and it's got fur and it's probably not a rapist. All that matters is that it's named /tg/, so it's time for fan art and fanfiction and it's going to be here forever and a day.

WHAT'S BEEN ESTABLISHED SO FAR

It's named /tg/. Or Teegee. Or /teegerino/. Or Tig. Tigolowski. Whatever, you decide.

Other than that, there's been a bunch of designs and some of them are cute, some of them are mildly sexy, and all of them are awesome because they're gerbils (or hamsters, or chinchillas? Maybe it's a vole? What is a vole exactly?) named /tg/.

If you're more curious about what people did in the last thread, check out the archive. Probably will find something if you search gerbil.

I ddon't know, you raise some good points but I think >>35777629 put it better than me. Or to make another example, think Harry Potter. At some point all the kids get a pet, those are familiars even if not DnD familiars. Leaving aside that one was a shapeshifted human, what would those pets do all day in Hogwarts while their owners were at class? The answer is, hamtaro-style antics.
Anyway, I tthink I defended my suggestion enough for today. I'm going to sleep (it's late here), I'll leave this to /tg/.

>Alastair
Believes he is Pseudodragon but is in fact just a Lizard.
Actually pretty intelligent, and likes to show it. He's eloquent and smug. He likes a well thought out plan and is usually convinced that his plans are the best course of action. Of course, because he tends to prefer words to action, often times his plans get left in the dust while TeeGee and Urf run in leaving him in the dust.
Due to his size, he's actually pretty good in a fight, but he doesn't like it and avoids conflict whenever possible.

>Urf
An simple, but utterly honest and kind Earth elemental.
Determined and strong. After he sets his mind on a goal, he will pursue it even after it's been shown to be a bad idea. He doesn't like to leave jobs half finished. Looks up to TeeGee a lot, admiring her ingenuity and resourcefulness. He is intensely protective of all his friends and doesn't take insults lightly.

>Gobs
A shy, tiny gelatinous cube.
She doesn't particularly like conflict but she worries a lot about the others in the group. Particularly about Urf who she has a massive crush on but who is too dense to notice. When stressed her first instinct is to hide, but she fights it hard because she doesn't want to let her friends down when the need her. If danger ever truly threatens them, she is actually quite brave, but she doesn't see it in herself. Sees TeeGee as a role model for her drive and bravery.

That was by no means intended as a final character list. I just threw them out as Ideas. What things could we change to make them work better?

And if we want to focus on TeeGee first, then what about her? We know that she's a bit of a dreamer, a lover of stories and that she has a fiery passion in her to go make great stories of her own.

We know that she's a competent fighter who can hold her own against mightier foes. She's brave and clever.

And we know that she has a flair for the dramatic. But that's about it.

I hate everything about it. That color pattern makes it look like an albino moeblob wearing a weird animal costume instead of it being an animal. It's because a grayish black is a normal human hair color. It messes with perceptions and depths. The colors themselves are also more or less off theme. There were several color schemes much better than this one. It's actually the second worst of the lot.
>>

It's really not been settled. I just particularly liked that scheme so it's the one I put into the album.

It's also the one that the artist kept using after the initial colorings.

It's not so much Settled as it is, being used.

If a ton of people come out and say "Hey lets use the brown one instead" then we could still switch. There's only 3 colored pictures so far.

>>
>>35779785
> Where do we go from here?
Calm down, breath in, a just relax.

It's just a /tg/ hamster.

We don't HAVE to make this into something. There's no weird, monstrous pressure that screams WE NEED A /TG/ HAMSTER. IS IT DONE YET? GET IT DONE, WE NEED IT NOW.

If you just want to throw ideas around, go ahead, and see what sticks or doesn't stick.

Right now, I think the hamster itself is pretty decent. Neck fluff is good, I like the shovel, and the overall design is simple and easy to draw. But, that's still plenty of room for refinement and innovation on the design alone.

For instance, the neck fluff. A ring of spiky hair is one way of going about it, but there's a lot of variations to that theme that can still be explored.

From a single puff to slight curls to a more jacket collar type design, we can really figure out how to make the character look good first before we try to slap a personality onto her.

well, it's no longer being discussed, sorry for assuming that that meant we'd come to an agreement

I'm not wholly in love with this color scheme either.

It's a bit too somber, a little plain.
I'm just imagining her in a room of hamsters, and I just don't think she stands out enough.

Maybe instead of gray, a more vibrant color?
Maybe some kind of pattern?
I almost want to say tiger stripes (/tg/ and /tig/er, get it?), or maybe even white tiger stripes.
>>
>>35780207
How is it used as a weapon then?

We've discussed the Multipurpose aspects of the shovel. How do we make a paintbrush useful?

Maybe she's a caster to TeeGee's martial? Using the paintbrush to draw runes?
>>
>>35780286
I like it. It combos well as a sort of mix between a way to write magic symbols, as well as a sort of magic staff or broom for flight.
>>
>>35780220
That wasn't even discussed more than a few hours ago, and you're expecting something as vital as principle coloring to be even roughly determined, let alone settled, in such a short span of time?

Well, certainly, if a color scheme came around that people just fell in love with and drawfags began making tons of art with that scheme, then certainly it could happen in the span of a few minutes, but since that hasn't happened there's no reason to shut the book just yet.
>>

Well I can't see some colours and I'm pretty horrible with them in general but here's my idea.
>>
>>35780286
I'd prefer more mundane uses, but still clever ones.

Simply things like using oil-based paint to temporarily slick up a surface, or using an acryllic as a weak glue, and painting a black hole on a wall that another hamster slams into, or being so good at trompe l'oeil that he can make it look like a nail is sticking out of a wall that some foolish hamster tries to grab as he falls.

Not the most realistic coloration for a hamster, but it would stand out a bit better.

Teegee is a hamster with a shovel. Probably a talking hamster.

As far as threats go, she's not exactly high on the list, nor is she really the epitome of "reality."

While I can concede that black hole on the wall is a little bit of a stretch, the idea of "magical painter" has been done to death to such a degree that I'm far more willing to explore the idea of how a mundane painter can be an interesting rival.

Even if it's not combat, and he just uses his paints for propaganda purposes, and only uses the paintbrush as a club. Maybe a dastardly splash of paint here and there.
>>
>>35780743
I think that looks pretty nice, though I agree that it might be a bit too strong. I'm not sure what would balance it out well though. Maybe a splash of a lighter shade on the collar and ears?
>>
>>35780840
>anime drow ver
>>
>>35780848
See it's not that she's a Magic Painter though. I was picturing it as drawing out runes. It's not like the "Draw a picture and bring it to life" kind of thing. It's "draw a rune of force to bust open a door."

As far as how a mundane painter could be a good foil to her... I'm just not seeing it.
Teegee is an adventurous action girl hamster. I don't see the Propagandist being a very good rival.

And if she's just using it as a club, it's not really utilizing the fact that it's a paintbrush too much.

The rival has to be able to challenge the hero at her own game, but in a different manner. I see the Magician action girl working really well as a foil to the Martial Action Girl.

They're personifications of the boards. They have to be representative of the entire board for the purpose of showing interaction with other boards via their -tans.

It's up there. I'd actually prefer a more martial character to be Teegee's owner, if she needs to have an owner.

I'm almost imagining an Adventuring School, not just a Wizarding school, and rangers and druids bring their animal companions, and the wizards and sorcerers bring their exotic familiars, and then a barbarian or a fighter brings Teegee.

She'd sort of be like Boo, except not a miniature giant space hamster, and she wouldn't permanently take up an inventory space.

If we firmly establish the setting here, it makes no sense in the 4chanhouse. Besides the general consensus over there was to let Teegee develop without influence toward or away from the 4chanhouse.

You're the "Shadow Cabal of the 4chan Winter Ball" guy aren't you?

>What do you think the point of the -tans is?

They don't represent anything any more or any less than any other fan made random creation.

Teegee is just as, if not more, of a representative of /tg/ than your guy is.

Plus, she has the added bonus of being innately adorable and likable.

The -tans are a fanmade creation whose stated goal is to represent each of the boards as a whole.

Teegee is a fanmade creation with the goal of being cute.

How are you not getting this distinction?
You may not LIKE the board-tans, but they fulfill their given roll.
Teegee isn't meant to and doesn't encapsulate the board /tg/
/tg/-tan is meant to and succeeds in encapsulating the board /tg/

It's like trying to argue that Kryptofuck is a better representation of /co/ than /co/nrad is.

They're both fanmade creations, but one is not meant to be a personification of /co/ and the other is.

The dark brown is definitely really good.
>>
>>35782177
>The -tans are a fanmade creation whose stated goal is to represent each of the boards as a whole.

Did you even read your own mission statement? The 4chan House has never, and actually can't, claim to represent anyone aside from the few people that subscribe to it. You have no legitimacy as representatives outside of span of your project, and even then you guys (your words, not mine) don't have a strict sense of canon that enables any sort of representation.

Expecting people to respect your avatars as their representatives, simply because you said so, is borderline madness that even crazed tyrants wouldn't attempt without a significant martial force.
>>
>>35782193
Fuck yea!
I always said that brown was a great color to go with when it came down to animals, feels natural.

Now that I see it, the collar's color looks out of place.

I have an idea. Why not give her a scarf instead of the neck fluff?
>>
>>35782193
>>35782205
I think dark brown might be a tad dull.
Even the near-black is a little more exciting.
>>
>>35782304
I like the neck fluff because it's supposed to be sort of like a neck beard, though it might be good to see some variations of the design.
>>
>>35782284
Hey look, Winter Ball Cabal anon is back!
>>
>>35782359
Never liked the whole neckbeard thing. If you got to have a beard, keep it to your face. Lets not ruin her with the stupid grognardery some of us can pull. Lets keep her a little more safe from the less appealing side of our board.
>>
>>35782284
Then why are you mad?
If you don't care about the 4chan House, then why get angry about the existence of /tg/-tan?
He was designed by /tg/ and for the purposes of the 4chan House, works perfectly fine.

And if you DO care about our representation in 4chan House and don't think that /tg/-tan works then, as you said, there's no strict canon. You could suggest any other design for /tg/-tan and it could work.

But most of us who give a shit about any of the inter-board nonsense are just fine with /tg/-tan. If you come up with something better though, it's open for discussion at all times. In the Winter Ball thread.
>>
>>35782448
I disagree. It's part of the /tg/ image, and it looks cute on her.
>>
>>35782489
The "It's cute" has a lot more sway on me than the "It's part of /tg/" but I agree. It should stay.
>>

>>
>>35782521
Well, I brought that up because she IS supposed to rep /tg/. But either way, the bottom like is she looks cute with it.
>>
>>35782620
Same with the scar over eye. On a person it's pretty edgy, on a hamster it's pretty adorable.
>>
>>35782489
Fine, I agree it's cute, I'm not saying its not, just has some bad connotations to it that people from other boards that end up encountering her could think

>/tg/ as a hamster
>HURR DURR NECKBEARD HUE HUE HUE HUE

What do you think that fur/b/ros on /b/ are going to do with TeeGee the first chance they get? They are going to yiff the bloody hell out of her and ruin her for us and make us hate what they turned her into, like what they did with /x/, but even more personal.

But that's me being the paranoid fuckwit that I am.

>>
>>35782818
... they won't.

Not every board is like /tg/.

In the same way we don't look at /co/s homebrewed superheroes and think "Damn, we need to make a /tg/ superhero" no one is going to look at /tg/'s magical hamtaro thing and think "You know what /mu/ needs? A musical hamster to play with /tg/ at Adventurer school."
>>
>>35782818

We're copying /v/ of all boards.
>>
>>35782906
kek
>>
>>35782906
1. There's nothing wrong with /v/. It's the board that discusses video games. Just because you don't like to discuss video games doesn't mean you have to attach some sort of persona to the entire board.

2. Vivian James is similar in that she's a character made on a board and serves partially as an avatar. In all other respects, she's completely different, from the nature of her creation to the ultimate outcome.
>>
>>35782809
Because this is a nice thing we got that's as innocent as you can get on 4chan, hell, the web. As much as I got unsensitized to most everything, it's those innocent and cute things like TeeGee that reminds me there's still some good out there.

Yea, I have a negative view of the world, blow me.

I like it quite a bit actually. Though it's definitely between the Brown and the Black for me.

>>
>>35782981
I am just lamenting of the fact that we're so bankrupt of creative thought and jealous of the success of Vivian James we have to create our own Vivian James just to have something to idolize and masturbate over.

>>
>>35781958
Yes! A thread and a half for a Boo reference! I was almost worried.
>>
>>35784115
I plan on including them, but I'm going to use my own characterizations for the most part. I'm undecided as to Alistair's pseudodragon status. I have to take a closer look at whether narratively controlling his potential is worth the awesomeness of Teegee being a dragonrider in future stories.

I'm still iffy in including Urf at all. He didn't feel natural in the story outline I wrote up, so I cut his part and I'm having trouble justifying his presence.
>>
>>35785818
I feel that if we look at them from a DnD angle, earth elemental and ooze are too close conceptually - both are slow moving, barely intelligent piles of stuff. You should probably take license from that, and work in the other direction - find a characterization that suits you and go from that.
>>
>>35781958
I don't know, there are a couple of things I'm not sold on.

1. This idea calls for fleshing out the owners maybe a bit too much. I think that we should be focusing on the pets as much as we can.

2. Wizardry schools already have many precedents and use established tropes; there's a lot less for all-class schools, and it binds us to a D&D world (we are already there, but I feel that too many D&Disms end up killing OC).

3. A lesser thing, wouldn't rangers and druids keep bigger, fightier animals?

However, the idea that Teeg's owner is more martial could work all the same, maybe he's the kid who's not that good as spells, or comes from a simpler, more practical background.

Another idea could be that they are all part of the same adventuring party, but that becomes harder to justify. Maybe Teeg as the barb's pet, a familiar and an animal companion start wandering on their own in the dungeon and meet there another companion or two? Grimderp twist: their owners are actually ded?

(I'm just throwing out this ideas for whoever wants to write, I'm not doing it because english is not my first language and I wouldn't feel comfortable writefagging myself.)
>>
>>35786523
We could go for a lighter version of the Mouseguard or Redwall worlds where there are only these intelligent creatures of various sizes, and no humans.
>>
>>35786689
I don't know. As much as I like redwall, I feel like it kind of wastes the scale of the animals.

Being the size of a hamster matters a lot more when you're living in a Human sized world.
>>
>>35786725
In the first thread one of the original ideas was to just have it be Teeg's pet.
Not everyone likes the board-tans, I know, but it would keep the stories about Teegee from becoming exposition on Teegee's human.
Teej is already a (semi-)completely developed character, so the only mention of him would literally be in passing like in the Hamtaro anime.

Also the original concept for >>35778263 is that they are all Teej's pets, because he just has a random menagerie of exotic creatures or something.

>>
>>35787742
I could picture the lonely old man bit. He cares for them as a way to provide for something other that himself, and since he doesn't get visitors he talks and tells stories to them even though, as far as he's aware, they don't understand him.
It would be am easy way that Teegee could have heard the stories that have inspired her.

Did I mention how dumb the whole thing is?
>>
>>35792832
Are you genuinely asking that question? I thought it was fairly obvious.

What they've got is a bunch of pretty lame characters that are so generic and boring that they've got about as much personality as a bowl boiled tap water, because the majority of the chefs are just "idea" guys who can't actually contribute anything to the pot.

And, when a chef actually does put something in, it's usually something that's just a superficial "it something related to this board so it has to go in!" idea that is both tasteless and about as genuine as Epcot center.

They board-tan's are these weird parodies of the boards they claim to represent, these weird distortions so far removed from the actual boards that it's practically insulting.

There might have been a chance for the board-tans to not be terrible, but the group is so incompetent that all they've managed to churn out is some mediocre pictures, some straight-up terrible writing, and an enormous heap of bad ideas heaped upon bad ideas created by the largely useless "idea guys" who make up the majority of the project's population.
>>
>>35792832
Right now, they've got /tg/ as some high school drop out going to a ball with some kids because he couldn't get a proper date. And people are writing stories about how he should have pedophilic relations with both the boy and the girl.

The board-tan crew is a rough crowd. Best avoid them.

How about you queers quit talking about that shit outside of its containment thread?

It doesn't need any more advertising, considering the entire thread is practically spam.

Just leave whatever board-tan discussion over in that thread, is it really that hard?

I post there, but I know better than to bring it to other threads, especially when what we're trying to do here isn't even related to the board-tans

I'm not sure about favorite, but she should definitely not be a picky eater and she should eat a ton. Like an ungodly amount, but never gain a pound.

Back when I owned rats I noticed they all had different favorites. One liked dried strawberries, another waffles with peanut butter, cinnamon sticks, and one even loved catapillers

Human flesh.

Earlier someone mentioned Caramel.

No reason. Just because.

It all goes to her hair. She would look like a giant puff ball if she didn't trim regularly.
>>
>>35800449
I'd imagine it'd make a considerable mess and get stuck in her fur. She acts all resentful when someone offers it to her, but it's secretly one of her guilty pleasures.

Well worth the risks!

That's be kind of funny.
She has to guard a banquet Hall full of food. So she keeps a diligent watch, over the food. All that food, for all those people. Expertly made by a large team of chefs working long hours.
By the time everyone else returns all the food is missing and there is just a giant fluff ball trying to say she doesn't know what happened, Making up excuses that thrives must have stolen it all and she couldn't see them because her hair was in her eyes.

I look into this thread and it makes me feel like I'm at some family restaurant where all the kids crayon colored pictures of the mascot have been put up at the entrance.

I was trying to remember what all those pictures reminded me of.

You captured it perfectly.

Looks good
What about the eyes do you not like?
>>
>>35803335
I'm not sure,
it just doesn't sit right with me for some reason
>>
>>35803076
I like the eyes.

They're ninja rape eyes.
>>
>>35803447
I like the eyes. You could try making them less detailed. Otherwise maybe make the pupils smaller?
>>
>>35803076
I'm pretty sure that those eyes are looking into my soul.

A point of order: Can Teegee see out of her right eye with the scar? Some art has her with a blank right eye and some does not. I kind of like having the aesthetic of the blank, useless right eye, but maybe a bit too dark for rape gerbils
>>
>>35803858
>but maybe a bit too dark for rape gerbils
I'm sure there's someway to make it look cute.
I think it works fine with >>35778263

So Teeji is a girl? Is there any particular reason why?

Sorry if I'm out of the loop - I just got here because I'm starting to draw cute Teeji hamstah chan.
>>
>>35803934
It was sarcastically chosen at the start of the last thread when people weren't being serious about it. It just sorta stuck.
>>
>>35803934
My guess is that girls are cuter, and that being a girl automatically separates her from hamtaro.
>>
>>35803934
>>35803971
And it's cute.
>>
>>35803978
>>35803971
I'm okay with this. It's not as if /tg/ has a specific gender, and we do enough waifufaggotry [see half of the goddamn quests out there] to be able to see ourselves as a woman, sometimes.

Now, what clothes go good on a hamster with a bob-cut for hair...
>>
>>35803934
the original thread started as something about rape gerbils so someone said the /tg/ gerbil should be female and then everyone started building on from that.
>>35803858
I personally like both eyes working if only because it gives depth perception. also the damaged eye takes away from the cute if you tried to color it.
>>
>>35803971
> sarcastically chosen at the start of the last thread when people weren't being serious about it.

Man, what the fuck is wrong with you.

Firstly, none of this is serious. It's still not serious. If you want serious, you probably shouldn't be in a thread about hamsters.

Second, nothing was sarcastically chosen. Everyone was taking things serious from the start. For fuck's sake, this is serious business, and you're trying to debase that.

we know that a leather strap with dice tied to it looks good on her

no fedoras

maybe a cavalier't hat?

>>
>>35804090
Nah. I kind of like just the Dice Strap.

With only other thing that I could imagine would be maybe a bandana, but the neck ruff kind of covers that look.

She's pretty complete as is.
>>
>>35804172
>>35804183
>>35804090
So something simple, so as not to cover up the fact that she's a hamster. A poofy hat, matching a musketeer or a cavalier or something. Got it. May I ask why clothes are a bad idea on hamsters?
>>
>>35804201
they don't fit the aesthetic we're seeking to emulate with teegee. Hats should be the defining accessory for this sort of character, and tegee is rather complete as it is.

I've always liked these kind of poof hats.
Maybe not a knit one, though.

There's still plenty of room to work around with the design. It's not like it's stone that we're carving here.

and also easy access
