This one wont be as funny or cute in the least. After all is grownups sending a little kid off to get killed.

Life was pretty simple in the Maho temple, up in the Dragonback mountains.

The twins were used to training around the clock. They were allowed to rest for as long as a candle burns, 4 times a day.

These candles burnt quite fast. Indeed. This was life for all the would be shadows in the Heavenly court. Concepts such as day and night had a different meaning for them. It was either light, or it was dark, and that was it.

Night was not a period of rest, it was whatever their teachers said it was. Warfare and combat, stealth, exercise, all of these happened around the clock.

In order to let their bodies develop, they were allowed to spend some of those cycles lying down, sometimes, but not sleeping. They could be attacked at any time by their instructors, and many young would-be-shadows had deep scars from those attacks.

No, they did not sleep. They were alert and vigilant, ever watchful of their surroundings during those times.

Ami and Mai had never met. They grew up together, they trained together, they fought together, but always wearing the shadow's masks. Every shadow was alike, every shadow was the same.

They were wearing their masks when they were told about being sent to the capital, and they were wearing their masks when they arrived there.

For as long as they had memories, they had worn those masks, or others like them. Their instructors had, as well.

Well, If we have the right materials, a simple magic jet engine might be possible, if we mix fire + wind magic.

If we understood the mechanics, and getting the design right would take a while.

We could make floatstone based hover-bikes if we wanted eventually.

The wagon's driver surprised them when he removed his mask.

They were well away from Maho temple when they saw a human face for the first time. It was a hard face with a large scar crossing it diagonally from right to left. It looked as if someone had sculpted a face on stone, and was not specially different from a mask.

Before then, everyone had been the same. Everyone wearing the smooth, featureless black mask of a shadow.

"Remove your masks, and hide them. We will enter the commoners lands, soon, and after that, the imperial palace. The peasants much not know shadows are real, and you are not allowed to hide your face from the imperial family."

Then, and only then, did they recognize one of their teachers. It was a voice they had heard countless times.

They removed their masks while kneeling, and hit it among their clothes.

"Good."

That was the last thing he said to them, and they knew better than to talk uninvited.

As they approached the farmlands, their nerves were standing on edge. Less of the familiar mountain sounds, more new, unknown sounds. Unknown means danger. This lesson had been imprinted on them in a thousand different ways.

Seeing a peasant woman, out walking with a bag of rice, was a shock. Her face was different from the face of their fellow shadow. It was different from their teacher's face.

It was the 3rd face they ever saw, and was thus imprinted in their memory.

At the time, "gender" was an alien concept for them

The wind roar trick from several threads back comes to mind.

A trick that lets us use shields with ambidexterity. Some way to treat 1h weapons as 2h weapons.

Actually, about that, magic items resize themselves, right? Could we turn our sword into a 2hander?

>She is into S/D, wants to be his slave, fetishizes the slavery system and wants him to dominate her
>He doesn't want to "take advantage" of a slave and wants to free her and marry her
its such a tragic, sad tale.

I really hope we can help them one day. like, tell them to stop beating around the bush and talk to each other
or act as a translator

Hmmm Guys? I've been thinking about our summons. When we're fighting people and not mobs, we shouldn't let people see naked Lyann and make them (allies and foes) think we're a pervert. I suggest something like Praetorian Guards from Total War Rome II. Those guys look awesome.

They had a small breakdown when they entered the city. A thousand new faces, and countless sounds. They hid in the wagon's straw and kept hidden until their teacher ordered them out.

They were in a grand stone yard. It was quite soothing. The tall stone walls and quiet buildings reminded them of home, and calmed their broken nerves.

"You will be Ami" ~he said to one~ "You will be Mai" ~he said to the other~ "Know that inside that building" ~he pointed behind him, at a large temple of ebony and gold~ "Is the person you will watch"

""Yes, teacher"" ~they said at once~

"As shadows, you do not exist. Since you do not exist, you are faultless. Steal whatever you need, kill whomever you want. You exist to obey and protect the person inside that building. Is this clear"
""Yes, teacher""
"Good bye"

Their teacher left them alone, and their world was down to two, and one more, whom they had yet to meet.

They entered the building and found a sleeping child.
The youngest of the imperial princesses, aged 4.

The little princess life was different from theirs, yet not too different.

She had instructors, and little else. The instructors wore bright clothes and such heavy makeup as to be masks. There was very little do tell one from the other.

While standing guard around the imperial princess, they saw a mirror for the first time. It surprised them, but was quickly ignored.

Their own face was the face of the shadow next to them. To them, this made perfect sense.

They had no need tor mirrors after that. Even later, when they saw the tutors and servants brushing and caring for the princess' hair, washing her face, they simply did the same for eachother's face, for eachother's hair. It was easy and natural.

Sometimes, the princess would go out of the building. This was a nerve-wrecking time for the shadows! so much open space!

The princess would meet and play with another princess. That princess had the same face. This, of course, was simply obvious.

The math tutor had its own face, the language tutor had its own face, their former teacher had had its own face, the singing tutor had her own face. They, the shadows, had their ownface. It was the shadow's face. OBVIOUSLY, the princesses would have their own face, and it would be the same face for both princesses.

This was as expected as sunset and sunrise.

What did confuse them, however, were these... activities the princesses engaged in, together. They did this strange, high pitched sound... it was rythmical and not unpleasant. It was not crying... it seemed to be a good thing.

Sometimes, the Minister of the Right would show up, and bring a "toy" to the princess. A toy is something you "play" with. "Play" its a princess-only activity.

This much was obvious.

The minister, too, had its own face.

The shadows took turns watching over the princess, took turns eating, washing, sleeping. The princess was never alone, yet she did not see the shadows.

They existed for the princess' benefit. They existed to protect the princess.

One day, something new happened. The 1st Imperial princess died. This was not these shadow's princess, so they did not care.

Then, the 2nd imperial princess died. Again, this was not their princess, so they did not care.

Once day, the Celestial Empress herself showed up. The shadows had seen many different people now. Everyone in the alace was beautiful, everyone was well dressed.

Still, the Celectial Empress was beautiful. She was more beautiful than anyone else. However, she was the Celestial Empress. She was the favorite of the gods, sent to rule everything under Heaven. Of course, she should be beautiful.

This was what the shadows decided.

Her voice was like a singing bird's, and her words were song. She greeted the princess and examined her.

The little princess had been well taught. She properly greeted her mother, and bowed respectfully. She was a very well behaved child, albeit she did not know this, nor did the shadows. Discipline and training was their world, after all.

"Mako, do you enjoy being a princess?"
"Yes, mother" ~the child answered with a smile, and the empress nodded approvingly
"Would you like to be an empress, or would you like to remain a princess?"

Then, the empress hugged the princess, and heard her words in a quiet whisper.

When they were done talking, the empress called forth the shadows.

As they ahd been trained to do, they obeyed.

"What are your names?" ~the empress asked the kneeling shadows.
""Ami and Mai""
"Which one is Ami?"
"..." ~it had been a couple of years, and they had forgotten
"Mako"
"Y-yes mother?"
"These are your shadows. Which one looks like an Ami, and which one looks like a Mai?"

The tiny princess looked at them, and then did something the shadows had only see her do with the other princess. She gently hugged one of them.

Her hands were very soft, and very warm as they gently pressed on a shadow's head.

"This is Ami." ~she said. "She's the strongest!"
"Really?" ~said the empress~ "is the other shadow weak, then?"
"Nu uh. This is Mai!" ~she said, also placing her hands on the shadow's head~ "She's the prettiest!"
"I see. Mako, you know that Ami and Mai are always with you, right?"
"Yes, mother"
"Even if I cannot be next to you at all times. I wish I could be. Therefore, I want you to think of them as your mother. Both of them, understand?"
"Yes, mother"
"Good child. Ami, Mai. I know that you are young, and I know this is strange to you, but I want you to think of Mako as your daughter. Do you understand?"
""Yes, my empress""

A few days later, the empress passed away.

The palace was in turmoil. The minister of the Left, and the Minister of the Right. All the servants and the instructors, everyone was carefully watching over their shoulders.

The little princesses did not understand. They played together, and waited for their mother to come visit again.

>>35782117
One night, the pricness asked to the darkness
"When is mother coming again?"
"The empress will not come again, my princess"~answered the darkness with a gentle tone, from somewhere to her right
"She has gone unto the wheel of rebirth, my princess." ~said the darkness from her left

"Will I see mother again?" ~asked the princess
""You can summon us at any time."" ~came the voice from her left and right
"Can you sleep with me?"

"Of course..." ~started one
"...my princess" ~finished the other

The shadows appeared from the darkness, and laid down with the princess until she fell asleep and shortly before her servants came in the morning.

Strange things were happening in the palace. The minister of the right died, and there was a new minister of the right. This one had a different face.

This was deeply troubling for the shadows.

And still, the princesses continued to meet and play together in the evening.

The shadows learnt that the sound they liked so much was called "laugh". The princesses had a lovely laugh.

The new minister of the right seized power. He announced his betrothal to the oldest of the remaining imperial princesses.

The final princess was sent away, in a "learning trip into the colonies". Normally, a imperial princess would go with an escort of a hundred elite troops at any time she left the castle.

But princess Mako was alone. A princess shadows are as part of her body, and they were not counted.

It was a terrifying experience. First, the princess was in a pagoda, then she was in a barbarian's ship.

She had her own cabin, but noone explained anything to her. There was no schedule, no instructors, no servants. She was lost and confused.

The sailors and passengers all thought she was cute. The shadows agreed. Their princess was very cute. Cute things are those who are like their princess. That is what they decided.

They did their best to keep her company, but it was a strange place, full of strange people. Before any of them knew it, they were in the colonies. A man welcomed them in the docks, and took them to a carriage.

The little princess did her best to keep up, walking on her tall geta as quickly as she dared. Then she was in the carriage, and soon she was at school.

It was terrifying. For a entire year, she stayed in her room, looking out the window from time to time, growing more and more timid with each passing day.

Her shadows did their best to learn the language, and then did their best to teach it to heir princess.

But they could not get her out of her room.
While looking at the garden through her window, she saw two dwarven children playing with a board and little toys.

They seemed to be having fun.

"What is that?" ~asked the little princess, softer than anyone but her shadows would hear
""We will find out"" ~they answered

A few hours later, she met a boy around her age, who had supossedly invented this game.

anons have already calculated how to do about 1.4k on a single attack thanks to stealth, IIRC. For an attack that has no MP cost, I think thats really good, honestly

Also, good morning, Im gonna be working on the PDF. Let me know if/when you guys come around to talk
>>
>>35789019
That wasn't a single attack, that was a flurry.
Highest damage with our stats for a single attack would be coming out of stealth for the x3 bonus and a cit for x2, so 2(3(50+64))=684 damage, that decreases at a rate of 60 per 10 armor. Against our current armor, it would do 90 damage.

It's sort of like the situation with okaba and his spell shotgun - high armor completely nullifies it.

We need some way to meaningfully hurt high armor targets with physical.

An example

Sword of light-As the first attack of any fight, you may target an enemy you have higher initiative than and strike for five* times your base damage + melee skill level.

So for us that would be 5(50+64+274)=1940 damage. We be able to do that once per fight.

If someone like dad used it, you'd get something like 5(35+25+110) = 850 damage. Which seems reasonable for a an old school badass.

*I'd actually say something like a 10 times multiplier would fit the thematics of sword of light more. Should add a vulnerability after use if implementing that, though.

uh? why? the armor works pretty straightforward-like. If you do 300 damage and armor is 60, you are doing 240 damage

there's a weapon trick that lets you ignore armor the more armor a target has, tho.

thats not specific vs targets with high armor, tho, thats against everyone

That sounds more like the classic "unsheath, everything dies" move.

So there should also be a variation that hits multiple people.

Quick Draw
As the first attack of any fight, you may target every enemy within X distance of you with an attack. All armor is treated as X(1/2 or 3/4) for this attack, and no tricks or abilities may be used for this ability.

This is based on Muramasa: Pandemonium of the Demon Blade.

and while I'm suggesting skills:
Rending Strikes(Requires Sword God Style)
Reduce the bonus of Sword God Style by X(50?) to add a -5 Armor penalty on the opponent.

Shatter Strike
Multiply your attack by your weapon's quality. Your weapon breaks after use.
>>
>>35789330
>uh? why?
I thought armor was counted before modifiers. So a 99 armor target would reduce damage like 2(3(50+64-99)))

>armor piercing
Which is only really useful against heavy armor targets. even armor piercing x2, once we get bladedancer, will only lower armor from 99 to 79.

>thats not specific vs targets with high armor, tho, thats against everyone
It's a single, high damage attack versus building up damage from a lot of little hits. It's powerful versus everyone, but in particular it gives us the ability to hurt high armor targets where normal attacks would ping off.
>>
>>35789330
Elemental and divine damage increase at a rate of 30 damage per 10 skill. 90 per 10 skill if you count magic bullet.

Having weapon damage increase at a rate of, say, 15 damage per 10 skill seems pretty reasonable.
>>
>>35789577
Per mana spent, not per elemental point.

So a 20 mana spell could do 180 + int with the right spell tricks. Can do better in groups with blast + shape + cascade + link.

Need a lot of elemental to unlock those spell tricks however.
>>
>>35789745
Element skill directly controls how much mana you can spend. 30 damage per 10 elemental skill is not wrong.

>>35789390
>I thought armor was counted before modifiers
no

first come damage reductions from cards and items, then comes armor and armor reduction is extremely simply

What you guys seem to ignore, is that extra armor pieces from heavier armors do way more than just add +10 to armor, they also can come with 3-6 enchantments and enhancements, and up to 6 extra card slots. More than the +10 to armor (and some armor parts have +armor as one of those enchantments), the advantage of having those extra armor parts is those enchantments

Sure, you get more class passives if you have just 3 armor parts, which is light

But if your armor parts give you, say, +200 to a stata, and you have 3, that is +600 to stats. While if you have 6 that is +1200.

By the same token, having a two handed weapon does more damage, which is good in the early game, but having a sword and shield, or two weapons, is better simply because it gives you more enchantment slots, and/or more attacks

>>35789390

alright, i could support that, maybe a simple "add 1/2 your weapon skill to damage with the proper weapon type"?

yes but nowhere does it says that you have to equip THOSE to begin with

Armor pieces are
Head
Shoulders
Chest
Arms
Hips and Thighs (you know I will just call them pants from now on, ok?)
Boots

Noone says you HAVE to have your light armor be Head/Chest/Arms. It could be Shoulders/Pants/Chest if you want to

Anyway, even if you already had your Head/Chest/Arms with slots, you can still get Shoulders, pants and boots with enchanements

Why wouldnt you want +18 enchantments and enhancements?

well I wasn't sure how armor was calculated. Still, lemme reword that.

Reduce the bonus of Sword God Style by X(50?) to add +5 damage to Sword God Style's bonus. This bonus is also stackable. You may take this trick multiple times.

it would still be 5 more damage per 10 skill, and you have to remember we have stablished the crit chance can go to about 75-80% for x2 damage on melee, or as high as x5

For regular people, +5 every 10 points is good because normal enemies dont have THAT much armor

For us, its good too because we can get a LOT of chances to do a critical hit with large bonuses to critical hits, so that becomes 25 more damage per every 10 points

Have it be a weapon trick that asks for 100+ weapon skill, and then maybe have it be upgradable every 50 points thereafter. At first it adds extra damage on a 1:1 basis, but later its 1:2 and even 1:3

funny enough my dad used to to that when we traveled around the country. I always got pissed at him for piggybacking on huge trucks since if the truck brakes for any reason we would have been J-J.-JAMED IN! into its butt

I dont even ...

what the hell is that a representation of?

Lets see... if incoming damage is 16000, as if you had tried to attack the Alquian capital and they fired their giant lazers at you, you would, I assume, work like this

4 different rays
4000 damage per ray

-20% from 4000 thanks to a zenite card is -800

-70% from a maxed paladin is 960 damage per ray

It's more that after 5-8 hits against slow enemies, your accuracy bonus might get so high that you don't even need to roll. If so, then re-introduce the risk of missing in exchange for making each attack more painful.

casters dont get the nice crit multipliers weapons do. They dont get weapons with wider critical chance, they dont get enhanced critical damage multipliers, and they typically dont get large con bonuses so theyre pretty squishy, too

You can make any one group seem like a victim by focusing on ONE aspect that they have and excluding all others as well as all other groups of people

For example
Rich White Males are at risk of being mugged when they go out on the street. This means Rich White Men are being opressed!

Are ONLY rich white males ever in danger of being mugged when they go out on the street? no, but you arent mentioning anyone else, you are just mentioning them

"Warriors only do X damage"

Sure, but they also get a lot of beefiness, and they dont have to deal with a diminishing resource

For example, remember that Okaba had something like 200hp before we toughened him up.

Sure, Warriors dont do the massive explosive damage that casters do, but warriors dont turn into wet tissues if rain falls upon them, either

>>35789935

that sounds pretty good, actually, but seems like something rune knight or zodiac knight should be able to do, and technically zodiac knight does, since it lets you cast a spell to add its damage to their melee attacks (and viceversa), right?

No, not really. You are creating a system that will favor doing a lot of physical attacks to trigger the extra spellcasting, without caring about physical damage because it's pathetic.

Your arguments are almost identical to the line of reasoning that gave us 3.pf monks.

But sure, if you want us to treat this like caster edition we'll treat this like caster edition.

So you seem to want to keep to your sense of verisimilitude. That's fine, but from our perspective as players? None of that matters or is relevant. Physical damage drops off like a rock. Magical damage increases almost as quickly. Toughness scales with total level, not any particular job. Those are the constraints you are creating for us.

Casters do a lot of damage, but are squishy

I remember anons whining about magic being pathetic and a noobie trap just 2 threads ago

I really dont think physical damage drops off as badly as you are saying, You have to remember adding weapons special abilities, too. Which you need to find as you find weapons in the future

If I said "theres a weapon property which ignores damage reduction" you would say "we need to find THAT weapon, all other weapons are useless!" and would lose the fun of finding the weapons as you find them

"Oh, its another excalitrash, into the trash it goes!"

Now let me think...
2 threads ago or so
"magic sucks! its a newbie trap!"

>Guys, why dont you try using more hybrid spells to double or triple your damage? here, have this magic bullet trick to make you think about using spell tricks properly instead of just focusing on class abilities

"Oh so instead of doing 1:3 damage, we can do 1:9 damage with hybrids, and so instead of paying 100 to do 300 at most, we can pay 300 to do 2700!"

Now
>Melee sucks, it's a newbie trap!

Seriously mate? seriously? and the funny bit is, now you are focusing on weapon tricks only and excluding class/weapon abilities.

If instead of giving a weapon an epic enhancement to let you ignore damage reduction, i had made it a weapon trick, would you complain about melee class abilities being too weak instead?

The point is, you need to consider the whole picture, not just one thing.

You want to do 70000 damage per melee attack? thats fine, really

A friend of mine ran a custom Diablo II server and it was so popular it burnt

"Dude how the fuck do you burn down a server?"
"I raised the damage of everything by 100, and the hp of everything by 100. Kids love seeing biiiig DPS on screen"
"But, if everything had 100 times more hp, there was no difference"
"Right, but they dont care"

Should I just give everything 700 times more hp and 700 times more damage?
>>
>>35790378
>Im talking about the multiplier of the damage,

And you showed us that there are item enhancements that give at least +1 to both physical and spell crit multiplier. Is that no longer the case?

>Should I just give everything 700 times more hp and 700 times more damage?

We're already in the nerf bat stage of the game. Any significant challenges to us are going to be using the same rules as us, which means they'll have gigantic HP pools, con that scales faster than strenth, and high wis. That Con bonus means physical damage will never increase. Wis means that spells will never do more than 1/2 damage, but that's ok because they have such a huge base damage to begin with.

And you're resistant to things like adding int bonus to physical damage, or making scaling effects from skills even a little bit relevant. Because we're a special snowflake or something.

Oh, about the character sheet.

I have a pretty ugly system that lets you level up characters by entering the amount of XP they get, then manually increasing class/job levels in a temporary space until that xp is all used up. You have to manually copy the levels from that temporary space to the 'real' stats.

I can get levelups done pretty quickly with it, but as i said it's kludgy and ugly.

I could set up buttons that automatically calculate everything, taking active jobs into account and even including bonus xp bonuses for level difference, but that would require scripts, which are a security vulnerability. Do you want me to build that?

I think we should play more with divine magic too.

One thing to remember is that there are a lot of job paths with passives and actives for melee, less for casting.

A ambi monkey gripped two hander paid with two runic weapons does 70+ str base twice. Two armor pierci g will belp bypass some armor and a few levels of swipe can clear groups too.

Probably allowing a second melee attack every 50 weapon skill would not be too bad.

You cant just call him retarded and expect him to reply seriously. You need to explain why you dont like his argument. You need to be respectful if you want to be taken seriously

As for namefags, I asked people to use naetags so I could take a look and get an idea of who says what and when everyone is present. If everyone is here on, say, a tuesday, maybe we could run a thread without anyone being left out.

Hi

Deathly Critical – Your melee critical hits damage multiplier grows by +1. You can select this weapon trick several times, but not in a row.

Is the wording on that unclear? could take it at 70 90 and 110 but not at 70 80 and 90.

Im thinking that maybe those who use two handed weapons with their proper 2 hands, get more attacks and accuracy with the right weapon tricks

So warriors can choose between
1h weapon and shield for some extra safety
1h weapon on each hand for more attacks
2h weapon for more attacks with greater accuracy

Sure you can take monkey grip and get more, stronger attacks, but they wouldnt get the same accuracy bonuses

Just trying to add variety. Its important they end balanced vs eachother tho

Getting more attacks is the duelist's thing, though.

actually let me expand on that

1h weapon and shield
shield has defensive enhancement and enchantments. Most con stats will be on shield and chest plate, so it can be a better bonus than just +10 armor. Its where im trying to focus +con bonuses, and a small +SR bonus

So the sword and board is the utility option

1 handed on each hand.
Since it lets you attack with each weapon each time you are attacking with a basic attack, it lets you add your str bonus twice, and lets you carry twice as many offensive enchantments

2 handed
higher base damage, and on average, stronger offensive enchantments than regular 1 handed weapons. Also, accuracy bonuses, which you may have noticed ive been trying to keep rare

monkey grip
a higher base damage version of dual wielding without the acciracy bonuses
>>
>>35791756
>which you may have noticed ive been trying to keep rare

Are you doing the math for what this causes? Because Dex scales far faster than Str, which means as everything gets more powerful, nothing will be able to hit.

ah that sounds better, thanks

How's this?

Deathly Critical – Your critical hits damage multiplier grows by +1. You can select this weapon trick several times, but not consecutively.

Sharp Eye (Requires a minimal Melee Weapon Skill of 50, 75 and 100+) – Your base critical chance on melee attacks grows by +5%. You can select this weapon trick several times, but not consecutively. Your critical chance on melee attacks cannot exceed 75%, or 80% if you are an elf.

Im thinking that the "or 80% if you are an elf" may be better in the elf racial section, as a passive saying "you get +5% base critical chance on attacks. This allows you to raise your critical chance past 75%".

It may be a terrible idea, tho

>>35791751
I feel you should have used a period instead of a comma somewhere in your last line...

But that does give me an idea. I was just thinking i shouldnt raise the base critical chance for all melee weapons, but maybe raising it for weapons you are holding with both hands would be fine, instead, to go with the "extra accuracy" theme

>>35791781
>Dex scales more than Str
Thats because
1- we are stacking jobs, which means we are stacking dex
1.1- because all jobs get "some" dex since all jobs need "some" competence at DOOOOODGE while not all need some competence with melee.
2-we have plenty of multi attack means, tho. If all our attacks had a high chance to hit, we would be hitting WAY too often

As anons have proved, however, reaching 75% is not that hard anyway. Maybe it would be more meaningful to just give +5 to attack rolls when you are holding a weapon with both hands, instead of a critical to your chance to crit?

it will take 44k more experience for us to reach level 20 in all remaining t1 classes. Once that happens, we will have 197 pdv and an attack bonus of 106. We would literally be almost off the rng.

This will get worse, as there are more t2 classes that favor dex over strength. And all the people we train will have similar stats.

I don't think you are working through the consequences of your system decisions.

I don't remember anyone other than me complaining in the first 2 threads.

No. All of the people we train will have exactly the same stat spread. All scion does is get us there 50% faster.

This is achievable by literally everyone in the world. And will be, if QM wants to give us anything challenging at all to fight, because we've already beaten the old serial level ups. That ship has sailed. Mission accomplished. The only threats we meet will be doing the same thing we are, and in those cases we will not be able to even hit each other.

We are working on making sure everyone we go into dungeons with is as strong as us, or will be given time. I do not see us changing this pattern if we are taken to a different environment.

We are only marginally stronger than the people who know about job stacking, and only for a limited time. Lyann would surpass our stats in 3 months of dedicated dungeon diving. Everyone we tell this to will be able to face the same challenges or accomplish the same feats.

Real talk: I'm saying we need a stacking damage buff for physical damage so that Con bonuses don't completely nullify it, and magic damage doesn't completely overshadow it.

We need a way to bring physical to-hit bonuses up so that equivalent level people have at least some chance of hitting each other.

You either need to just scrap mdv as a stat entirely, because Wis blows Int out of the water, making it so that spells always do 1/2 damage, or you need a way to add significant bonuses to spell accuracy.

These are the really, glaringly obvious issues that occur at higher total level. And you and King are opposed to addressing them because of no good reason whatsoever.
>>
>>35793439

So we need a stacking damage buff for melee. That sounds like a good idea. Ideally 2 people with the same total levels should have about a base 40-60 percent chance to hit, before tricks.

There should be spell penetration tricks and spell hit tricks also. Of course elemental is much rare a skill then weapon. Our bonus points will be a large advantage.

I think earlier there was a stacking weapon trick that allowed +5/+5 hit and damage. Allow it to be gained every 20 weapon skill and you get choices on accuracy or extra ae attacks.

There are currently 2 levels of armor pen, to ignore 20 points of armor. There should also be some armor pen item mods.
>>
>>35793817
armor pen seams more of a ranged weapons things. that's what crossbows/guns do best

>summon angles

Good god, why does this make me laugh so much. Explains the architecture style in Sigil, tho.

It ALWAYS bothered me how typically it is that only evil ever grows strong and tries to take over the world. Why cant GOOD get strong and try to take over the world?

Seriously, its been bothering me for decades. If you want that to be a crisis, you could belong to a neutral (read, stupid) faction that is all about balance and tries to oppose the takeover recruiting evil to do it.

I am very excited to see good growing strong and hope you guys have plans of world domination.

I even want to see romantic subplots where one or more of the angels you summon fall in love with some of your party members.

Also while I was away, I decided to make it so you can take a weapon trick to give you 1/2your weapon mastery to attack and damage rolls with weapons when using a weapon with both hands. I think this should be fine if it can only be taken twice, at 100 and 200 weapon skill, respectively.

Kenpachi's Paradox (Requires 100+ melee weapon skill) – While holding a weapon with both hands, you gain ½ your weapon skill to melee attack rolls and damage with that weapon. You can select this weapon trick every 100 weapon skill points.

what about this wording? it feels really clunky

dual wield gets the benefits of having LOTS of attacks, and using 2 weapons.

That sounds condescending, but listen up. It's not, it's just that I can't think how else to explain it.

While dual wielding, any time you use a basic melee attack, you use two instead. This means you get the damage and enchantment benefots from both weapons, and add your str bonus twice. If you are using monkey grip, you also do the same damage as a 2 hander with each of those attacks.

Honestly I think its fine as it is. You get twice as many attack enchantments, roll twice as many attacks, and have twice as many attack bonuses and/or utiility from having two sets of enchantments, one per sword.

Sword and shield get utility and defensive enchantments, so they are also balanced that way.

Wind Blade (Requires Swipe) – +10” range to a melee attack. This allows you to hit non-adjacent targets. You can take this trick thrice, each time adding +10” range.

Most simply, you could just add everything to the modifier box by using '=x+y+z'.

Otherwise, cut the 'total' line, paste it down a space, then go into the formulas and increase the second cell number by one. Like if it says '=SUM(F55:F56)' turn that into '=SUM(F55:F57)'. Go back up a line, give yourself a label and input the values into new cell.

Well yeah, there is no theft as much of worth is stashed in an item box. If it is not too big or unattended.

But straight mugging sure. It must be pretty common as there are a lot of people who will only have a handful of levels.

Most will not be as daring as we tend to be.

I am pretty sure that kidnapping is a bigger risk then theft.

Mug someone kidnap the kids, stick slaver collar on them, sell them to nomads or foreign areas, or ransom back.

I would figure that both Eldric and Lyann would be targets for something like that, going around relatively unguarded if not for the big don't fuck with us aura they may or may not emit.

Is it possible to get an estimate on someones strength by sight?

Unrelated, but I was thinking about the agelessness enchantment and how people just die for no reason. This is stupid, so let's try to make it less so.

Have it so that Fate is a thing, and people actually do have an appointed time to die. If they somehow manage to survive past that point, they become the target of increasingly unlikely coincidences that eventually result in their death, Final Destination-style. This is most obvious with agelessness enchantments, but occasionally you get some guy surviving a battle or accident he shouldn't and horrible shit starts happening around him.

Upgraded agelessness enchantments would thus additionally make a person invisible to Fate.

That explains it, they look at us and saw level 50+ something noble, look at lyann and see level 50+ something slave when we returned from dwarf town. In Opal city we were so well known after the first few days we likely had a lot of people looking out for us. Once we freed the slaves they would look out for us. Forget it after we introduced chilled beer.

They won't fuck with kids that strong and young. I guess Zoe and stella are more at risk since they belong to the Lightbringer house now, unless we run down and get them both a bunch of classes to level 20, like get them mamluk/wizard/healer/dancer 20, and unlock other classes.

Same with getting Mom and Eli some of the mix of classes to 20.

That sounds horrible, I would prefer to just die while sleeping, still young

>Upgraded agelessness enchantments would thus additionally make a person invisible to Fate.
Uhmm... Honestly I liked how they handled it on Dorei Maid. The princess that willingly became her childhood's friend slave got a collar that kept her ageless, but would have her die when he died. She was happy about it, calling it "her wedding ring" since for her it was "till death do us both" and "the best she could hope for given how much she loved him". Really, surviving your loved ones is terrible, to begin with. Also, im thinking Lyann will do this to herself. She's pretty smart, shell learn enchanting while Eldric is away and do it to preserve herself for him

Really? she seems pretty strong, yet clearly feminine, to me, and with all the levels we are gonna get her, I think thats a good two traits to expect. Mako is probably gonna have hundreds of str and a girly and delicate looking little flower type of a girl is not going to do at all. I think strong, beautiful and black hair is as good as we can hope for

I dont know, evil, bad people, expect evil, bad things. They may not really believe we adopted them, they probably think they are just slaves but we adopted them to keep "the facade of righteousness" of the family

Furthermore, if they ARE evil, would they kidnap a toaster or a chair and ask for ransom? for evil people, slaves = objects. But I guess someone who really took the time and watched and came to conclusions may try? honestly, the ones at the biggest risk are Elli and Athena, and then the incoming twins

Well Dad is the leader of the coalition armies. Getting anything on him to blackmail would be a good idea.

Not to mention being a Lightbringer and all. The type of force needed to fight through Mom would be a bit much, but a few Thanes would do it, since she relies so much on magic. A strike at night trying to catch the household unawares while doing a smash and grab would be heck of a strike.

Since the empires armies currently are not doing much and may be losing ground in a few months, after the first airships go into production and the ability to get reliable scouting information quickly is improved. Not to mention the ability to screw with supply lines and maybe locate the cauldron of plenty.

May need some way to beef up house defense, but not sure of any way to do it other then more bodies.

Yes, even if Eli is stronger to fight them off, they could likely grab athena with 'acceptable' losses and try to escape then.

Probably wards/alarms that notify us might be good, we do have the money to make it affordable too.

Getting Eli a bunch of levels would not be too hard considering how we can blitz levels 20-25 in dungeons now. Even with a bunch of levels, she mostly has craftsman or if we level her, artisan equipped. They could distract her long enough to grab a kid and escape.

Now this makes me paranoid for the next plot hook.

Alchemist

(A) Arcane – You gain access to the following arcane powers:

Golem – You can sacrifice a mana crystal to summon a golem* with HP equal to the MP of the sacrificed crystal. The golem's Strength, Dexterity and Constitution are equal to your Intelligence. You can have 1 personal Golem for every 5 Alchemist levels.

25MP - Overclock - A personal Golem gains an additional melee attack each round, +15 melee hit, +25 melee damage, +30feet a round. This lasts for the number of rounds as twice your Alchemist level. When this ability ends your golem must cool down for 30 minutes, during which it cannot take any actions. This spell cannot be run be run at the same time as Heavy Metal.

(A) Divine – You gain access to the following divine powers:
12MP – Rasp. You or an adjacent ally also deal MP damage whenever they would deal HP damage until the end of your next turn.

25MP - Hardened Defense - A personal Golem gains +15pdv +25armor and the ability to force enemies to attack it. This ability targets up to 2 enemies, with a strength check against their MDv to force them to attack the golem. This ability lasts for the number of rounds as twice your Alchmist level. When this ability ends your golem is locked up and must initiate a restart, during which it cannot take any actions for 30 minutes

(P) Masterwork - Your golem's Charisma, Intelligence, Wisdom, Appearance, and Melee weapons abilities are equal to your Alchemist level.

(P) Imbue Golem - You can imbue a Personal Golem with a spell like ability. This ability can be only used once per combat. The cost is 5 gold and 50 mana(from a sacrificed mana crystal) at the time of imbuing. This ability must either be Divine or Arcane. A Golem can have 1 imbued spell every 6 Alchemist levels. If the golem is no longer your personal golem it loses this ability.
>>
With our stats, we need to enable cadenero. Whatever Works means that melee damage would be 118+64=182, so an increase of 70 from our current 114, and I'm guessing we can use ambidexterity here. It'd also give us 118 armor vs our current 99 armor. All this while naked. It'd stack nicely with the courtesan, bladedancer and master monk passives.

If we also bought hybrid x4, and magic bullet x2, we could blow up most things with casting through our sword (600*9+52*6=5712 damage), then fall back to fists when magic immune enemies appeared. We'd easily solo dungeons.
>>
>>35804573

It needs to stay level related in some way, otherwise you run the risk of simply buying past the only negative. Get 10 levels and forget it.

I think sword and board and duel wield need a little love that can be introduced later.

Weapon Finesse (requires 75 melee skill, Ambidexterity) : You can substitute your dexterity for your strength for hit rolls. This only works when duel wielding two one-handed weapons.

Flurry of Touches (requires Weapon Finesse, Sword God Style and Armor Piercing) : When duel wielding two one-handed weapons you pierce an additional 10 armor and get +15 to hit. This can be taken twice at 100 melee skill and 125 melee skill.

>>
>>35804573

>>
>>35805140
Made a mistake with the armor from cadenero. Forgot to add the Con bonus, since Whatever Works gives +wis rather than just flat wis. So our total naked armor would be 119+68=187 armor. Being charitable and saying that unarmored counts as lightly armored for the purposes of armor piercing, we'd have 167 against someone with 2x armor piercing. So yeah, even if a guy with 300 str and a 2handed legendary weapon charged us, it'd still ping off with no damage.
>>
>>35804634
Add an ability that lets you sacrifice mp crystals to repair HP at a ratio of 3:1, then decrease the ration every 10 levels.
>>
Highest possible damage would be frenzy or garsman combined with the zodiac knight ability to get a free casting attack from that. That'd let us do 6 times the above damage, with a 65% chance of a crit on that. Add in thaumaturge so we can cast super summons for free on top of that.

So 6((.65*3+.25)(600*9+52*6))=75398 damage against a single target. Halve that, because it's unlikely we'd beat the mdv of anything important, for 37699 damage. And 6 mostly naked lyann summons.

Speaking of summons, I think we need a trick that lets us cast more than one an action. Sort of like hybrid, so

Summon Swarm: By paying the extra MP cost of an additional summon, you can bring forth more than one per action. This trick can be taken up to 5 times, adding +1 summon every time.

So we'd be able to burn 600 mana and get 6 summons in an action.
>>
>>35807150

[MagicBullet] [Requires Hybrid Spell Trick, and 30+ ranks in Elemental] You manage to squeeze the most out of your hybrid spells. Not only do they cost more and thus do more damage, as usual, but their elemental properties work in harmony to make them much more powerful than normal spells. Your hybrid spells do +2 danage per MP spent, raising their damage to 1:5 instead of the normal 1:3. You can take this Spell trick three times, each time requiring at least 30, 60 and 90 ranks in elemental.
>>

I think we need to reword that from "to summon" to "to fabricate". It is not just a summon, it actually has a body. Also considering to have materials affect its hardness and base damage. You ever played Diablo II? I remembered the steel golem, which asked you to sacrifice a magic item, and your golem would have that Item's properties. Maybe you can create a golem with 1 item and +1 items every 10 alchemist levels. That way we can give it powers and customize it

Rasp needs to be specified as a free action once per turn. Maybe "drain" instead of just damage.

Hardened defense... why str vs MDV? thats a punch that makes you stupid? maybe something like "Guardian - You can r redirect damage that would target you, to your golem"

and like i said, change masterwork so that it lets us sacrifice an item, and one more every 10 levels

imbue golem... not bad, but i was thinking in something similar to the options the predator has. Stuff like giving it wings/rock-it thrusters, laser aim (increased bonus to attack), maybe the ability to have a built in axe or hammer mode. In one it deals extra damage and in the other its attacks by default knock down or immobilize. Now that I think about it, we can probably do a lot that way

Good morning btw, im reading through the new posts

>Weapon Finesse (requires 75 melee skill, Ambidexterity) : You can substitute your dexterity for your strength for hit rolls. This only works when duel wielding two one-handed weapons.

Some 1h weapons already do this. It was mentioned weeks ago and i just havent given it its own section in the pdf, but rapiers, estocs, stilhettos and other such weapons use dex for attacks

I think that implying more little hits somehow helps thrust through armor is weird. Ususually, the more attacks you have, the more chances for a hit. If it also pierced through armor, you wouldnt need to ever wield a single weapon. I would instead say you can use a weapon to block/parry while attacking with the other, letting you receive half your weapon skill to PDV, and make you count as if you were in full defense for purposes of seeing if you can do counters with water god, instead

maybe when you have 2 weapons, you could get a bonus to attack equal to 1/2 your weapon skill by doing a flurry of blows, as a full round. The purpose of this however isint to really deal damage, but just to get that bonus to start accumulating it for sword god style

For example right now eldric has 200+ weapon skill. That means that as a full round action he throws an attack that has +100 to hit. It doesnt matters if the attack does a lot of damage or not. He just wants to hit with a large difference between his attack and the target's PDV to get his sword god rolling.

Adding a "power attack" type of thing as an additional trick for sword god may be good. Letting you switch attack bonus to damage.

theres plenty of studies now that says animals use a LOT of different ways to move around, not just the magnetic poles. That said, migrating birds often get lost when they get into areas with lots of iron on the ground.

Things we need to do:
Spend a few days unlocking and leveling all of mom, elli and lyann's starter class jobs. Just have them in our party near a temple while we go down to level 25 or so and murder mobs.

Brass and in particular Grumnir also need this treatment but it'll take more work for them. Grumnir needs to get his dex past 550, which would require all his villager t1 jobs to 20, and a combined level total of 32 from cook, artisan and smith. Probably 10/10/12. After that, have Grumnir start work on new runic sets of armor and weapons for everyone. Over 550 dex should mean that he'll always create a six slot item, except on a critfail. Good chances of getting some legendary equipment out of it.

Need to make and distribute revive rings to all our dungeoneering members, starting with the family.

Need to set up non-class job training for Mako and Okaba in particular, but pretty much everyone else to a certain extent. We still need to learn mamluk, craftsman, thief, shaman, warrior so maybe have those classes together with Mako and Okaba?

Need to put ghost+kobold into lyann's sword and see they become more powerful because it's a legendary weapon. If yes, start working on arcanist and thaumaturge for her so she can use magic bullet.

There's probably more but that's all I can remember at the moment.

Oh, our own leveling priorities will be to unlock zodiac knight, all of the dancer hybrids, weaponthane. Once we get mamluk, ginaz swordmaster becomes #1 priority for his crit stance. Fedaykin is #2 for prana bindu. Champion is #3 for his on-hit regen.

>What we need is spicy food. We'll cook some thai one night or something. Just need to find a supply of curry spices.
meh what you USians call spicy food is baby food over here.

I once tried to send some dry spices to a friend in the US and ran into SO many barriers, tho. Otherwise Id sent you some actually spicry stuff

while in college vacations once, i waited tables at a beach restaurant, and I have to admit, it was funny watching tourists tear up and whine when they tried the local spices. EVERY SINGLE TIME I warned them that "our spices are waaaaaaay hotter than what you guys are used to, we laugh at mexican chilli and such. Seriously, this is actually spicy, sir/madam" and every single time I had to be at the ready with a glass of milk to help them stop crying

that said, mako is "npt-chinese/japanese", im sure she is used to way spicier things than Eldric is.

>lyann's starter class jobs
we already did that on the vacations, her sheet is monstrous now

the thing about ghost + jobold is that ghost gives you 10 mana each time you affect someone with a spell, so you can heal and get mana, debuff and get mana, buff and get mana... ghost + kobold only gives you mana when you HURT someone. Since Lyann is mainly a mass debuffer, she gets lots and lots of mana each time she uses a dance with ghost WITHOUT kobold

She still has to get warrior and the noble jobs. It'd be a good opportunity to level those classes for their stats as well.

I was hoping kobold+ghost in a legendary weapon would work like it does in our sword.

I agree with this, we will want to delve till we can find out mobs that drop materials for relic items. The relic would be good armor, and the extra bonuses on armor of that level are quite good. Some go beyond a +10 or 20 to a stat.

Also going out and leveling alchemist some, just so that way we have defensive statuary at home.

you mean on/off with man eater plant+kobold?

in our sword, it works like a switch. We can get hp OR mp on hit, equal to the damage we deal

That used 4 card slots. We can do that for lyann, but right now she gets 10MP per affected target each time she cast an ability affecting someone else

We only get MP equal to the damage we deal.

You really want her to only get MP equal to the damage she deals? is not a BAD thing, its just different.

Spend 4 MP, cast slow on 14 targets, get 140 mana

Spend 100MP, deal 300 damage, get 300MP

Its just different, not BAD

Yes, because we can teach her magic bullet. She'll do more damage than us with it because of her equipment.

The only way to actually reliably use that is to have MP drain equal to damage, because 600 mana per attack is too high to sustain otherwise.

gargoyles?
would they fly?

What cards does or sword have in it?

For defensive statuary. Maybe if they are wnchanted they could fly.

Could we make our house into a golem? Bad guys try to come in and kidnap someone and it goes Metroplex on their asses.
>>
>>35812195

Good luck explaining that to Mom.
>>
>>35812303
Mom is a wizard. She'd understand.

>So at first I thought about making a golem to protect the house
>But then I thought, why not have the house protect everyone instead!

You know, okaba would absolutely love this idea.

Not all of us are. I like to spice up my chili with Dave's Insanity Sauce. You only need a little bit, it's basically pure ghost chilies.

Besides, its a tolerance thing. Like drinking, the more you eat spicy food/drink booze, the more you'll eventually be able to handle. Besides, I want to see his reaction to Mako's Mapo Tofu, and I want him to eventually love her cooking spiciness and all.

Sure introduce Okaba to transforming mecha, see what happens then. Not my fault if he decides to make his carriage transforming into really weird designs.
>>
>>35812024
with all the weird physics stuff could we still make lighting, with the copper wire rocket trick.
