One day, you're a highly paid professional, working "security" for Chalcedon Incorporated, using the skills you picked up during your service in the Second Korean War. The next day, the company's frozen your bank account, your meet-up with your manager turns into an ambush, and you're forced to hide out in the city's slums, living in a condemned apartment, trying to figure out where it all went wrong, only your brains, your finely tuned body, your equipment, and a couple hundred bucks in cash to your name.

Then someone called you on your room's phone. "Call me Raimes," the voice said, staticky and electronically modulated. "Raimes" explained that they had been singled out for termination after the new CEO took over. As far as Raimes was aware, it was just the two of you, now; another fourteen employees had already been liquidated more easily.

"The new CEO has a weak point," Raimes explained. "A daughter. I've looked into it, and she's poorly protected. I don't have the necessary skills to do it alone, but I believe that by kidnapping her, we can get new lives in ransom."

For someone with your skills, poor little Clara was effectively defenseless; you grabbed her right off the street after she left her high school. Now she's bound up in the backseat of your (stolen) car, and you're driving far, far away.

>You feel a little bad for the girl. She's, what, 17? 18? You can't remember. Raimes mentioned it at some point. Try to reassure her that you have no plans to hurt her.
>Call up Raimes, tell them that you've got the girl. The sooner Raimes calls up her mom and tells her who's got her daughter, the sooner you can get far, far away from Chalcedon's murderous claws.
>Just drive. You need to be careful, now, and not let yourself get distracted until you hit the safehouse Raimes set up.
>Write-in.

I give a fuck aboit you, but your dad killed my friends.
And he tries to get us too.
so, I call my friend, we bind you, call your parents, get enough money to escape dog-eat-orea, and start a new life as legal workers.
and you get some money too.
Then we move and you can travel back to your toilet for a father.

Or I can snap your neck.

Your choice miss.

"Look, kid... Clara, right?" You say, glancing in your rear view mirror to where she's bound up in the backseat. She gives you a curious look. "Look. This isn't personal, okay? Your mom isn't a very nice person, and she tried to have me killed." Her eyes widen, and she starts to squeal behind her gag as she wriggles around in the backseat. "Uh, right, okay, that didn't come out right. Look, I'm not going to hurt you, so please calm down."

She fixes you with a long look in the rear view mirror, studying your features carefully, before she slackens and adjusts her posture a little. Resigned, you'd guess.

"Everything goes well, you'll be back home in time for breakfast tomorrow. Alright?"

She just looks at you in the mirror, tilting her head to one side.

You're reminded that you were never very good with women, or kids.

Whatever.

You pull off the main road here, then circle a few times to make sure nobody's following you. "Almost there kid. I'll be able to adjust your bonds when we get there, if they're digging in or anything. Aight?"

She gives a demure little nod.

You pull up to alley next to the safehouse, carrying Clara out of the car bridal style after confirming nobody's watching. You lay her down on the bed inside, and she gives you this... weird look that you don't understand. "Be back in a moment, don't do anything stupid," you say before heading back out to the car.

Getting rid of it's easy; park it on the opposite side of the road, keys in the ignition and windows rolled down.

You head back to the safehouse, where the girl's still tied up on the bed. While you were out, she moved around a little, either to try to get more comfortable or in the hopes of getting free of her bindings.

You loom over her, and she fixes you with a nervous little look upward as you cast your shadow. "Relax, kid," you say. "Just checking your bindings." You test them here and there, making her grunt loudly when you check the one on her upper right arm. "Sorry, this one hurt?" You ask. She nods, wriggling the affected arm again and giving you the old doe eyes.

You always were a sucker for that look; you take your time adjusting the bindings there, trying to make her more comfortable while also keeping it tight enough that she won't be running off.

"Right, then, kid," you say, leaning up. "I'm going to call my associate, and then we're going to start moving forward with the plan. It's really up to your mom how long you stay here; if she's cooperative, we can get this done before midnight. Please be quiet."

Clara nods slightly, and you move over to the other side of the room.

"I've got her, Raimes," you say into the phone.

Raimes's staticky voice replies. "Good. Her mother isn't even aware that she's missing yet, according to my information. Can you get a quick recording from her, to show that she's still alive?" You grunt an affirmative, glancing over at her. "Write it yourself. Include a reference to the current time. We don't want her mother getting any information more than she needs to. I'm already getting in contact with the woman of the hour."

"Roger that," you say, putting down the phone.

>Just get the recording and get this over with. "I am Clara Hunter, daughter of Chalcedon Incorporated CEO Maxine Hunter, the current time is yadda yadda, the current date is blah blah, I am unharmed at present." Gag her when you're done.

If their daughter does not seem in danger, they are more likely to try some stupid shit.

>>35795609
Actually the best way to inflict stockholm syndrome is to alternate between kindness and danger. The captive has to really feel their life is in your hands. If she is friends with us, she is capable of agency and can refuse to do things.
>>
>>35795726
And it's when she refuses that pressure should be applied. Not to prove a point, and not to "scare" her more than she already is inclined to be.

>>35795726
Do YOU understand how poor hostage scenarios work if you make everyone fear for their lives so that they ACTIVELY FIGHT YOU.
>>
You move back to Clara. "Kid, I'm going to pull off your gag in a couple seconds," you explain. "This place is soundproofed, so there's no point in screaming." She nods in understanding. "Then, I'm going to ask you a few questions. Clear?"

She nods again. You slowly peel the tape away, and she spits out the cotton you'd stuffed in her mouth earlier. When it's all out, she sits there, moving her jaw and tongue around to try to get out the taste.

"What do you know about your mom's work?"

She spits a little before replying. "She's a real badass executive, she took over this corporation, Chalce- Chelsea- Chalky-"

"Chalcedon," you interrupt.

"That's it," she says. "She took it over recently, she was really proud and talked about it a bunch. I didn't get most of it, though."

"Did she mention anything about... restructuring? Firing employees? Anything like that?"

"Um." She flaps her jaw around. "Pff, I can still taste it, can I get some water, or juice or something?"

"Maybe later," you reply. "Restructuring?" You prompt her again.

"She talked about how you, you have to, uh, be really thorough, when you take over? Get rid of all the money-wasters and lawsuit magnets. That's it, really. I'm never going to be a CEO, so I didn't pay much attention."

"Does the name Raimes ring any bells, maybe?"

"Our... housekeeper's last name is Rain."

"Raimes, not Rain."

"Then no, not really," she says, then she pauses, her tongue and mouth working. "Seriously, I've freaking cotton in my mouth! I understand that you had to gag me or whatever, but there's these hairs still in there and I can't get them out without my hands!" She wriggles a little in order to remind you that she's still bound up. "Come on... pleeeease," she whines, pouting.

The only chump here, is the moron advocating for a harder time when dealing with her. And I did read the last post, and of course she doesn't feel threatened, because you don't want her feeling threatened, because if she were she'd do something stupid, like try and escape, you dense buffoon.

We can easily kill her and she knows it. So there's less likelihood that she's making unreasonable demands.
>>
"Right, sorry about that," you say. "Just... one more thing, then you'll get your drink. Fair?" She nods, rapidly, though her lips, jaw, and tongue continue to try to push the cotton out of her mouth. "I need you to read something for me." You take out a notepad and write out the general contours of a ransom note.

She sidles up to put her back to the wall as you put the notepad in front of her. "I am Clara Hunter, daughter of Maxine Hunter, CEO of Chalc-chalc-" you glare at her, and she looks suitably chastised, "Chalcedon? Chalcedon Incorporated. The current time is 4:25 PM, the current date is October 11, 2034. I have been kidnapped and am unharmed at present. I am completely at his mercy." She adds an odd little inflection on the word "completely," and that last sentence was not on the notepad. Whatever. Raimes can edit it out, no problem.

"Thank you," you say, taking the microphone and sending Raimes the audio file to do whatever they're planning on doing with it, along with a text note, "extra bullshit at end. please cut for security," just in case that odd little tidbit was some kind of coded message.

That done, you turn around to Clara, who's wriggling her tongue some more. "Water?" She asks, when she notices you're looking at her.

>>
"Alright, alright," you say, getting up and heading into the kitchen. You fill up a cup with water, grab a bowl, then head back to Clara, who's still sitting up on the bed.

Helping her spit rinse her mouth is... actually uncomfortably intimate. She stares you right in the eyes as you do it, and it distracts you enough that you accidentally let it overflow, the water spilling down her shirt and staining her dress. "Sorry, sorry," you say as you pull the cup away from her lips.

She spits the water out of her mouth and into the bowl, then turns to talk to you. "It's okay," she says, giving you a completely innocent look. "I think there's still one or two more hairs," she notes, and you move up over her again, this time avoiding spilling any. It takes another couple goes - each time with her staring up at you with that intense look - before she finally feels satisfied that her mouth is empty of the stuff.

"Alright, Clara," you say, sitting down nearby. "You feeling comfortable?"

"Are you feeling comfortable, Mister...?"

"I asked you first," you note, pointedly.

"I'm... okay. Could be better." She pauses, pursing her lips in thought. "So what's the plan now, boss?"

"The plan is that we wait for your mother to pay up, then the two of us part ways, hopefully never to see each other again."

She gives a cute little pout, at that. "But you're such a handsome man, and I've never been swept off my feet before... I'd hate to never see you again."

We're a professional, we don't have a problem with her mother, aside from the trying to kill us thing, but that can be forgiven.

If she's willing to hire us as her daughter's bodyguard, and pays well, there's no reason why we couldn't and she'd get what she wants.

She pouts. "I'm not sure I could convince her."

"I'm pretty sure you couldn't," you reply, smirking.

"You could steal me away," she says, eyes bright with youthful optimism. "We could meet someplace, after all this, you could grab me again. We could go anywhere!"

"I'm sure you can find a way to get yourself kidnapped without my help if that's what you really want. Maybe put up an ad on Craigslist," you say, glancing down at your phone. Hopefully Raimes will call you back soon to let you know that Mrs. Hunter has realized that she really loves her daughter and would do anything to take her off your hands soon.

"But you did it without being asked! You grabbed me right off the street, and tied me up, and stole me away to your secret love shack... me, a young, virginal girl, and you, an experienced older man who's caring and attentive... it's so romantic, don't you think?"

"Yeah, like the start of a bad horror flick."

There's an awkward silence that fills the room. "Look, kid," you say, standing up. "Even if I kidnapped you again - which I'm not saying I would - even if. Your mom would chase me to the ends of the Earth."

Her eyelashes flutter at that, and she opens her mouth to speak.

"No, it's not romantic. It's tiresome, dangerous, and unpleasant. It's the sort of thing you really have to be paid to do, and you want a chance to sit down and feel safe. It's going to be bad enough for me when this is all over; I don't expect your mom to exactly let me go, I just plan to get far, far away from her and hide really well. I don't want you as another complication, and neither do you."

"I do!" She replies, instantly. "I'm in love with you! I don't care about any of that stuff! I'll do whatever you need me to, just take me with you when you go."

"Look, kid, you met me like, an hour ago-"

"Plenty of people experience love at first sight!"

"-and I don't know what your damage is. But what you're suggesting... it really wouldn't make anybody happy, in the long run." You pat her on the head, and she pouts sulkily. "Just trust somebody who's older and wiser."

Your phone rings, fortunately interrupting your conversation. "Raimes?" You ask into the phone. You raise one finger to Clara.

"The old lady's playing hardball," Raimes explains. "She's sending out people to find you. Fortunately, I deactivated Clara's tracking device the moment you picked her up, so she's working blind. I'll monitor them just in case, but it doesn't look like they have much chance of finding you. Keep your head down and we should be able to force her back to the table."

Raimes hangs up.

No, which is partly why we can still go full shadowrun on everything and not be completely crazy.

Well there's a reason I called that whole section tinfoil, I'm just rolling thoughts around.
Still say destruction of tracker is a solid idea, unless it's an implant or something on her physical person. Like if it was a dual pacemaker/lo-jack our best bet is to hope and pray whatever Raimes did doesn't fail.
However, if it's easily removed and nixed, we should do that just to be safe.
>>
>>35798672
I can honestly say this is the most fun I've had in a long time, this espionage shit is fucking great.
>>
>>35798637
Well, that's why we might need to ask Clara about who has access to her tracker in a round about way, probably make it look like we had an epiphany and check, then ask about it after faking being at a loss for what to do with conversation.
>>
>>35798731
I don't think we even have the ability to find a tracker on her unless it was something stupidly obvious, unless our miscellaneous "gear" can find it.

"Is your mother the sort of lady who would actually pay your ransom?"

"H-huh?" Clara asks, put back by the sudden shift in subject. "Y-yeah, of course. My mom cares about me."

"Well, she apparently doesn't care about you enough to just hand over the money we're asking for. She's sending men to track you down and, presumably, kill me."

Clara's eyes go wide. "No! They can't kill you! I love you!"

"Yeah, well, if your mother doesn't pay up soon..." you let your gaze wander down her body with a disaffected, slow crawl, the sort that's ordinarily reserved for corpses. Clara catches the menace in your look and curls in on herself a little. "I don't suppose you have anything you can get for me? Money of your own?"

"I- I have a credit card... it's got a monthly limit of $10,000 in withdrawals..."

"Not going to be enough. I'll need two mill, at least. Think harder."

"We could rob some place? I- I know a couple of my mother's passwords, I don't think they'd be enough to get anything really important but- but maybe you could use them somehow?"

"Anything else?"

"We could get married?" You snort, derisively and loudly. "N-no, really, think, if we're married maybe my mom will leave you alone? And you - I'd let you manage the money, you could have all my money, baby, we could live happily ever after and you could be rich?"

>Give me those passwords. You're not COMINT, but maybe Raimes can manage something with them.

"Those are all stupid ideas," you spit, and she curls in on herself further, giving you the puppy dog eyes. "What are you hiding?"

"I'm not hiding anything from you, I'll tell you anything you want to know, I love you, I swear," her eyes are big and she's looking a little panicked now. Good. Means she'll be more honest.

"Why did you have such a shitshow of security? I mean, Christ almighty, I grabbed you right off the street," you say. "You expect me to believe your mom didn't hire you a single bodyguard?"

"I don't like her bodyguards... I'd just slipped away from them when you found me. That's how I knew it was destiny!"

"And how does that fit with your tracking device?"

"Tracking device?" She blinks, taking a moment to understand your meaning. "O-oh! That's why..." She groans audibly. "It's, it's probably this," she says, wiggling her left hand in the bonds, probably trying to indicate the watch. "Mom got me it for my 16th birthday, which was also a little while after, um, I- well, you wouldn't want to know about your maiden lover's previous dalliances... but I'd, you know, slipped the protection for the first time..."

>How can she be a maiden if she's had previous dalliances?

Wouldn't be hard to play it off as playing into her hands a bit, when all we're chiefly doing is gauging how hard we need to prep against knives and shit. And we'd maybe have to use her yandereness against her, and remind her to be honest...but that might agitate the beast.

"How can you be a maiden if you've had previous dalliances?" You ask as you walk up to her, undoing the snap on her watch and slipping it off her wrist. You head over to the desk, taking out a screwdriver.

"W-well," she says, still on the bed behind you, "you know, that was all before I met you, of course, so it wasn't cheating, baby, I promise, but I never went all the way with anybody until you, I promise. I promise, I'm pure for you, you'll be the one to take the flower of my virginity."

You finish removing the tracking device from the watch - it's obvious even to you that it's not a proper part of her timepiece - before promptly smashing the damned thing. Raimes said he deactivated it, but there's no sense in taking any unnecessary risks.

"Is there anything else you want to tell me?" You ask over your shoulder in between fitting her watch back together.

"I don't know what you want to know, baby, I'll tell you anything, I swear. I love you, baby."

"Is this a set-up?"

"Is it a what?"

"A set-up. Because it's starting to feel like a set-up to me. I don't like being played with, Clara."

"Baby, I love you, I'd never play with you, I promise. When you grabbed me off the street," she lets out a wistful sigh as she tilts her head to one side, eyes rolling up, "that was the first time I knew you existed. Sweeping me off my feet, stealing me away... it's so romantic, you know?"

"You may have mentioned it."

>Why is she in love with you? It doesn't make any goddamn sense.

"Why are you in love with me? It doesn't make any goddamn sense."

"You kidnapped me off the streets and have been caring and doting despite having absolute power over me. It's romantic and you make my heart pound just from being around you."

"I think you may be confused about why your heart is pounding," you say, shaking your head. "I'm starting to think you're just fucking crazy."

"No, baby, just in love. I promise."

"Stop calling me baby," you say with a sigh. "I'm calling your mother. Don't speak." Clara obediently closes her mouth, wrapping her lips in on themselves.

"Mrs. Hunter's office. Who should I say is calling?"

"I'm the man with her daughter," you explain.

"O-oh! Yes, sir, let me get Mrs. Hunter on the line for you immediately."

There's a brief pause, some light music, and then Maxine Hunter's on the line. "What have you done with my daughter, you bastard?"

"Nothing, yet," you say, letting the word hang in the air. "Give me the money and I won't have to do anything to her at all."

"My people are still getting the money together," she lies. You can hear it in her voice, it's so obvious. Maybe her daughter being in jeopardy has made all her well-honed skills in deception lose their strength.

"Please. You've got a net worth of a cool two billion. You can get me that money any time you feel like. So do it, quick, before I get impatient and something unfortunate happens to your daughter."

"You fu-" you hang up, turning to Clara.

"Well, Raimes wasn't lying; your mother isn't cooperating," you say, turning your gaze to Clara. She makes a little motion with her tongue and it takes you a second to realize she's asking for permission to speak. "Yeah, you can talk."

"I'm so sorry about my mom, darling," she says, and you close your eyes and rub the bridge of your nose.

"Okay, here's what's gonna happen. We're getting out of here, if you mean everything you say then you'll be calm and helpful while I find us a place where no one will find us. Once there I'll figure out what happens next and if you're a good girl then just maybe I'll believe you when you say it was love at first sight. Understood, good. Now, what do you want to eat?"

Fucking thank you.

Saved me the trouble of breaking it to him that all the spy movies he's seen lied to him.
>>
"Alright, fuck it," you say. "We're leaving, kid." You head to the door.

"Wait, what are you doing, angel? You're not just going to leave me hear, are you?"

"No, I'm going to get a car and bring it back here, then put you in it. Can I trust you to be a good girl for the five minutes I'll be gone?"

"I'll be anything for you, angel."

You roll your eyes and head out. By some bizarre miracle, the car that you drove here in has not yet been stolen, and in fact someone rolled up the windows and tossed the keys into the cupholder while you were out. Maybe you underestimated this neighborhood. You pull up into the alley, grab Clara and your bag, and toss both of them into the back seat of the car before driving off.

"Hey, Clara, what kind of fast food do you like?" You ask as you start to head out of the neighborhood to the opposite side of the city. "Burgers, Thai, Chinese, Japanese?"

"Tex-Mex?" She offers.

"Alright, Tex-Mex it is," you say, and you grab the two of you some burritos, nachos and chips and queso. Clara is quiet the whole time you're in the Drive-Through, and nobody actually notices her, which is kind of funny.

Finally, you arrive at a safehouse you used a couple years back on another job that you never bothered to tell Chalcedon about.

"Here we are," you say as you pull into the garage.

"What's the plan from here, stud?"

What *is* the plan from here?

>Write-in.

>>
>>35801029
>The car wasn't stolen, and is actually perfectly untouched.

Alright, so that's not supposed to happen, seriously, this basically means that this is one big set-up.
>>
>>35801029
hmm, maybe her mom will take us more seriously if we send her some more... interesting proofs
>>
>>35801084
The shadows are running tonight, I see.
>>
>>35801057
No, here's how it works:

Case 1: Chalcedon has access to your provider's records (either directly, in the case where they're a parent company, or indirectly, in the case where they go through police channels). In this case, the moment you make the call, they know what cell tower you're using, and what your number is (so they can find said call again).

Case 2: Chalcedon does not have access to your provider's records. They have no idea where you are at all.
>>
>>35801029
"Nobody knows this place: not Chalcedon, not the guy who contacted me. It's a good place to wait until something changes, either the situation, the players, or the information I've got."
>>
>>35801029
This is where I show your mother that I'm serious.

I don't want to do this, but pick your least favorite finger.
>>
>>35801029
Holdout here until the deal goes through. same plan as before.

>>
>>35801062

>>
>>35801134
That's a serious backtrack. Her mother's not inclined to work with us on this, what makes you think harming her daughter's going to make things better?
>>
>>35801159
Wait, you want us to hole up at Burrito Triangle?
>>
>>35801029
>Write-in
Well what time is it? if it's late we should probably get ready to sleep for the night, since there's not much else to do.
>>
>>35801124
This, and be sure to change the plates on our car or take some similar measures. It was supposed to be a burner vehicle.
>>
>>35801189
It's late, yes. Dark out. That's why nobody noticed Clara lying in your back seat all tied up.
>>
>>35801029
Ask about the passwords, start planning alternative ways of getting some money out of this clusterfuck so we can get out of dodge when things go south.

And untie her so we can both eat some Tex-Mex, she's not really an escape risk right now.
>>
>>35801207
No, but she might try to rape us.
>>
>>35801203
Well dark out can be anywhere from 7:00 to 12 am, so a specific time would be nice, if it's not too much to ask.
>>
>>35801182
No, the safe house.

We all remember what happened at the burger town fiasco....

RIP Ramirez
>>
>>35801230
Either we keep her tied up, in which case we have to hand feed her ourselves, or we untie her, in which case she may try to do lewd things to us. A difficult choice.
>>
>>35801235
I swear, it was like that guy could do anything.
>>
>>35801245
We could untie one hand, then tie the other to a piece of furniture. Sure, she could try and get out but if we're watching she wouldn't have a good shot.
>>
>>35801233
I don't have a specific time in mind, but I guess... 10, 10:30?
>>
>>35801245
You forget the other other option, she punches us in the face, and rides off in our stolen car.
>>
>>35801235
>Ramirez! Dig this grave!
>>
>>35801277
If that's the case, we should probably light some candles or something, so we don't show up on any power grids, and get ready to settle in for the night.

"For now? We eat. Then I'm going to tie you to the bed-" her eyes go wide and a little smile appears on her lips "-and sleep on the couch." She looks very disappointed. "From there... well, we wait until morning, see how things shake out."

You pick her up out of the back seat, carrying the bags of Tex-Mex with the two of you, then undo one of her hands.

"You mean you're not going to hand feed me?" She asks with a little pout.

"No," you reply. All throughout the meal, she does her very best to make her eating process as sexy as possible, licking her food while making constant eye contact with you. But if she really wanted to pull it off, she should've gotten hot dogs or bananas or something; it's just not the same with nachos and burritos.

"Are we going to make love tonight, angel? I'm ready for you... I'll do whatever you want..."

You just roll your eyes at her. Really, what else is there to do?

When the two of you finish up your meal, you carry her bridal style to the bed, and as you do so, she uses her now-free hand to stroke your chest and cheek, actions which you willfully ignore. You tie her to the bedpost and pull the blanket over her before lying down on the couch, placing your head so that you're facing her as you drift off. She wriggles a little to try to make herself a bit more comfortable before starting to set off herself.
