You wake from your 'nap' in a small puddle of your own drool, Your brothers' voices as they crawl into the nest rousing you back to the land of the waking.

Your family is gathering, grouping up as they get ready to eat. Aria is half collapsed on the floor, arms like rubber after her drills- and Elle is right next to her, taking advantage of the captive audience to chatter on about embroidery, and different colour combinations. Sara and your father are still nose deep in books, and mom is hauling food around, dropping it into the circle.

You pull yourself off the blanket pile you collapsed in, silk sheets peeling away from your face. The movement draws grunts from your friends, though neither bothers waking. You skitter forward, ending up next to Mom, who shoots a smile as you settle down, snickering at your evolution to mobile bed.

You offer her a shrug in turn. Nothing doing. You reach for the food- you're goddamn starving. Strenuous magic use is hungry work. With the food halfway to your mouth, though, a plan forms in your mind-

>Eat all the food. That'll teach them to treat you like a glorified twin bed.
>Set some aside. You can tease them a bit later.
>You're now equipped with a pair of clawed grills. Steal some of dad's spices, lure them into waking up.

Cooking it in our hands with magic? We gotta try this. It'll probably just result in a horrible mess, but we gotta try it.

>>
>>35812892

Kind of a hangover question from last thread. Is there any way we can go back and pick up lightning spear (amp) at a later date? I really think having a spear made of lightning and fire would be pretty awesome, not to mention the whole Gwyn/Zeus motif.
>>

>>35812974
Nice! Thanks!

>>35812997
You haven't left the woods yet. There's a whole world out there to Loot Explore!
>>
>>35812974

Neat. I really like how you did the body and the spear. If you ever end up feeling like recoloring or redrawing, just a bit more recess on the forehead, a slightly more pronounced chin and nose, a couple more sets of eyes, and it will be just about perfect.
>>
>>35813060
What would our new lightning spear be ranked as, I can't imagine it's actually too high since Elfdad isn't that great of an enchanter.
>>
>>35812974
The spear head is too large, especially for a pole that thin, and the face could use work, but the spider body and skull is pretty good!
>>
>>35812997
REQM said we could put multiple stones of the same type into a weapon, so I don't see why not.

He also said it would produce diminishing returns, so I doubt we could ever get all the options, but getting one or two more should be possible.
>>
>>35813060

True, though I love the charm of "first weapon continues on in some form or another throughout the adventure". The stone can probably be salvaged and moved onto better metal, but I hope the trend of making our own gear continues.
>>
Time to Spiderbutt eternally!
>>
>>35813105
It's a small step below mom's- The enchantment is mostly relying on your stone, which was high quality. So, something like low rare, I guess.
>>
>>35813125
Me too.
>>
>>35813138
So, in Blizzard terms, it's like us socketing a gem onto a rare weapon, while Mom has a legit Legendary weapon.
>>
>>35813125
>"first weapon continues on in some form

I say we get a piece of river-metal and fuse it into our new spearhead. See if we can get that 'not slowed by water' thing for our new weapon.

Think of the Spear like Ornstein's.

Really god damn huge, because it was meant to kill / be used by something use.

We just shortened the shaft.

Now, to get the armor.

Also, I'm still confused whether or not the Teeth is actually the visor of the helmet or not.
>>
>>35813193
I don't think that will work, the smith in town said that he was looking forward to cold forging the rivermetal, so I think it has to be cold forged.
>>
>>35813206

>Get Ornstein's armor
>Modify the helmet to be LION SPIDER!
>Replace skull on butt with DRAGONSKULL on Butt.
>>
>>35813191
Don't worry, we'll make it legendary eventually.
>>
>>35813247
Not like it'll cost us anything to try. Also, magic forging might effect the metals magic in a different way to normal forging.

The earth loves us. Metal is earth. Maybe we can just ask it to keep it's magic when we reshape it?
>>
>>35813206

>The teeth are the eyeholes

That helmet just stopped being stupid for me.

How did I never realize this before.

Fuck.
>>
I'm actually curious if the first achievement (deep earth calling?) was because we asked the earth for help in 2 occasions or for the dungeons.
>>
>>35813206
It's not the shortened shaft that worries me, it's the slenderness: with a blade that large, it'll snap in half.
>>
>>35813103
>>35813111
Thanks - I'll probably end up redrawing it soon anyways, I know the face is off badly. The spear is pretty much Ornstein's spear, but I can mess with that a bit so it looks more balanced. I just went with the proportions in the OP image.
>>
>>35813375
isn't the shaft like, completely metal?
>>
>>35813375
Metal shaft.

We can just add more reinforcement to the stress points. It's not like forging is difficult for us anymore.
>>
>>35813375

The shaft is completely metal, magic-metal.

And so what if it snaps? We can just grab both halves and Forge-touch them back together and reinforce it some more with whatever else kind of metal we have at the time.

It is very likely that we can switch the stone for another element, to me that seems like an advantage to mom's spear.

Also I think it is suppose to look like this?
>>
You have a plan.
A plan so diabolical, so unspeakable, that harpies and wolves will forever tremble at the memory.

You'll cook them dinner.
That'll teach them.

You gnaw absent-mindedly on a hunk of meat as you work. No point in cooking if you're eating it all yourself before it's done.

You lay down a thick stone, and you steal your father's spices as well as his pan. He hasn't got much, but then, it doesn't take much. You're not a cook, by any means, but meat and fire are something that works.

A touch sets the pan sizzling- The rock warms, but you haven't burnt down the nest yet. A good sign.

Your fingers work well enough as knives- You strip away furs, slicing neat hunks of meat free. A bit of oil, a bit of salt, a bit of pepper. Nothing fancy. The meat sizzles in the pan, wafting an addictive scent of searing steak.

Your wolf is the first to give in. Her nose wrinkles, twitches. She rolls gently over in her eye cubby on your back, her eyes blinking to clear the sleep. She creeps forwards over your shell, following the smell of cooking food. Eventually, she manages to surmount the hills of skulltopia, and leans against you, propping her head up on your shoulder and watching the pan.
>>
>>35813761

You grin, victorious. You carve a strip of meat free from your work, holding it up to Sheszka's nose. She sniffs once, twice, and her mouth creeps open, tongue reaching for the treat dangling right in front of her. You let her take the first piece- the bait- and she pulls it instantly into her mouth, jaws snapping closed as she savours it, eyes gleaming.

"Mnnnnnnn- Alpha, what is this?"
Absolute victory.
"Meat, yes? We have it for dinner every night."
"Nnnnot like this."
"Well, this is cooked."

She slides off your spider half, dropping neatly onto the nest floor, and sits right next to you, eyes watching the shimmering heat of the pan.
She licks her lips.
"It's good."

You'd pet her, but your hands are still covered in meat and juices. And it's hard enough as it is to get her to bathe. Maybe if you just trick her into playing in the water? Dammit, she's flicking her ears-

You tear your eyes away from the temptation and slice up the finished hunk of meat, offering it to your eager packmate. Who is actually drooling. You stifle a laugh, and through the next piece on, while a very determined wolf tears through her meal.

Jin is in one of her tired modes, apparently. She's managed to stand- but that's it. She's standing, swaying slightly, smiling and looking around, not really seeing anything at all. You throw a rag over one hand and pull her beside you, setting her down and curling one leg around her. She gives you her best sleepy grin, and settles into the space.

You pull another piece free from your cooking platter, and hold it near the harpy.
Who just cocks her head back, and opens her mouth.
>>
>>35813782

You stare at her for a few long seconds, before you break with a sigh and lower the meat. Her mouth snaps shut mechanically. Chew, chew, chew, swallow. Mouth open again. You're pretty sure this is how harpies feed their children. This is a level beyond lazy.

You prod at your friends cheek, prompting a low sounding 'Nnnnnnnn'- which is probably the limit for her, as she still hasn't closed her mouth.

With the last of the meat cooked, and your family giggling all around you, you feed your abhorrently lazy harpy. Piece by piece vanishes into her gullet, though she does occasionally rub her head into your hand while she chews. Making an absolute mess.

At least she likes baths.

You keep up the ridiculous dinner session till Sheszka butts gently against your other arm. You turn to look and- Yep, now she's waiting with her mouth open as well.

Mom is biting her finger, nearly in tears.

One lazy, and one apparently jealous.

You keep feeding them till the food runs nearly out, only stopping to snag a pile for yourself. With the show mostly over, your family is breaking out blankets, settling in for the night.

Your friends curl against you- No need for blankets with a self-heating spider. You resign yourself to your new role, and close your eyes.
Tomorrow will be better. Probably.

The morning greets you with light and shade simultaneously.

The sun creeping over the horizon, the soft glow of the woods at dawn. The deep shadow of your mother standing over you, wearing a grin that could only be described as 'utterly terrifying'.

She isn't much interested in your protests, and heavily implies that you can either walk up the arena, or be dragged there.

You can at least pretend to have some dignity.

Aria is already waiting above, armed, armoured, and throwing you the most pitying looks you've seen from her.
Sheszka and Jin, alert and awake at last (and still a mess from last night) watch attentively, seating themselves at the sidelines.

Mom sets the weapons aside, stepping into the arena bare-handed.
"Come here, little one."
It's an order. No doubt about it. The tone makes you weak in the knees.
You have so many knees.

"I want to see how hard I can push you, yes? So let's find out."
She smiles, dropping lower, centring herself and raising her hands.

You enter the arena.

Your legs spread wide, bracing, ready. You raise your hands like claws, preparing to ward off the worst of it.
Mom closes on you in seconds.

There's no real strategy- She just up and tries to run you over, pitting hr strength against your own. It catches you by surprise, but only for a minute- Your legs dig in automatically, and you throw yourself right back at her, grappling as best you can. Mom gives ground, to her own surprise, as you push back against her- She dances side to side, trying to nudge you one direction or another, but you twist your frame to meet hers, digging in lower to get beneath her.
>>
>>35814931
She slips up with a grapple- one arm sliding over your shoulder rather than under as you drop lower to dodge her- and you seize the moment.

Your arms rap around her middle as you haul up, turning, pitching her to one side and tackling her to the ground. She can't get her feet under her, and you keep up your efforts, catching her wrists and pinning her beneath you- one hand seized by your own, the other hugged against her body, your arm wrapped tight around her.

She laughs- honest pleasure in her voice as you release her, stepping back and panting heavily. Her smile as wide as her face as she rights herself- Aria is watching with mouth ajar, complete shock on her features.

"Hahahaheeee- Stronger! You're even stronger than I am, spiderling!"
She throws back her head, cackling, her whole body shaking as she wipes tears from her eyes.
"-Haaaa. It's been so long- Yes, yes, this is good."
You blink, unsettled. Something in the way she said that...

"It's... good? This is good?"
"Of course, dearheart. It sets my heart at ease to know how strong you're getting, yes? You make me proud, Lyra."
You smile, blushing. She picks up the training spears, tossing one to you that you catch easily.
"And of course, it means I don't have to go easy on you, yes?"

Wait no-
>>

>catching her wrists and pinning her beneath you- one hand seized by your own, the other hugged against her body, your arm wrapped tight around her.

L-lewd...
>>
>>35814950
To your own credit- and to Mom's training regime's credit- You manage to last a solid half hour in the arena with her. While her own evolution might lack yours' strength and toughness, it's obliged her with a speed you can't match.

And it's not like she's weak, by any means.

The first twenty minutes are a blur- both the time and your mother. You block, dodge, parry, and return hits as best you can- pressing the advantage whenever you land a solid strike, throwing her timing with your heavy blows. But she doesn't stop. Doesn't tire. You're slowing, and she's showing no signs of anything.

Certainly not mercy.

By the thirty minute mark you're pretty much dying.
That's what you tell yourself, anyway.

Gasping like a fish on the floor of the arena, your whole body feels like jelly.
At least Aria is looking at Mom with that awed expression again.

And for your Mom's part- Huh. She's leaning against her spear, breathing deeply, sweat pouring off her. That-

That actually makes you feel pretty good. You afford yourself a smile of satisfaction. You deserve it.
Mom smiles right back, laughing as she offers you a hand.

Have the stone in one of the branches so that it comes down as a shower, into a small pond with a stone bottom for heat retention and keeping the water clear. Figure out a way to heat the water.

Create a small stone area with channels cut into the stone to drain the water away where people can scrub down, leaving the larger bath for soaking.

Divert a part of the river. Sit in front of the incoming stream. We won't be very warm, but at least our friends will.
>>

>>
>>35815797
The water volume with the stone is definitly les than using a rivers flow.

>>

>>
>>35815960

>Implying the Royal Spiderbutt Spiderbath isn't going to me an in-door lake.

Are you high right now, anon?
>>
>>35815665
Since we got average rolls, we should keep it simple. Anything excessively complicated would probably fail with those rolls.

A large bathing pool with a stone-wall divide. Mount the water stone ontop of the wall so a water-fall can cascade down both sides.

Make a small trench atop the wall to carry the water so it falls evenly along the length.

The wall can serve as a male / female divider. Of, if Mom and Dad are in the mood, can serve as a lewd / not-lewd divider.
>>
>>35815915
And? the stone still has less water output than a river. its two completly different kinds kf baths.
>>35815960
no one said we need massive, he asked why a river instead of the stone and the answer is because its a different kind of bath, flowing vs standing water, we are pretty huge afterall.
>>
>>35816005
>Royal Spiderbutt Spiderbath
>in-door lake

We're not designing the Royal bath inside of our palace yet anon.

That will come later.
>>
>>35816005

Imagine swimming in a lake near the castle of the monster empress.
Imagine doing laps.
Imagine getting to the middle of a lap and suddenly noticing the water get warmer. A lot warmer.
Imagine that from the depths emerges a great and terrible beast, steaming and churning the water to froth with its passage.
Imagine it picking you up and saying "Hi small human! I am a giant spider. Are you lost?"

>>
>>35816058
Seems a lot of work for the same outcome. The water stone produces an infinite amount of water, and we can easily set it up to run continuously. That, and the trench idea would require constant maintenance, and would lead critters to follow the trench from the river to our home.
>>
>>35816058
>flowing vs standing water,

No, we can have flowing water with the stone.

Stone produces a steady stream, drainage channels carry overflow away into the ground.

>>
>>35816226
No need. We live near a swamp, we can just go there if we want to do that.
>>
>>35816110
its not the same oucome. the stone is pretty much just something we can fill the bath with, the river is more a giant shower. its definitly a lot better for cleaning, but if its worth the effort right now is a different matter.

>>35816129
the strem of the stone is very small compared to our body, so the water flow would not cover our large body, its a very different bathing experience from being imersed in a river.
>>
when we leave the nest for long term adventures, If/when we join up with a group of adventurers, imagine what the story sharing will be like....
one of the adventurers will brag about killing a lightning wolf with only a sword when he was 17, then we tell him we killed one unarmed at 5 days...

The crab used it as a powerful water-blast weapon. I think it levelled a couple trees.

It ain't that small.

You've got a water stone. You've got the ability to increase your own temperature to something approximating the core of the earth.
So rivers can go and bite it, you're getting a bath.
Or a shower.
Maybe a hot tub?

They all sound pretty nice, really.

Your father conspires alongside you. Apparently elves usually build decadent as hell treehouses, complete with baths, balconies, all sorts of things. You squabble back and forth over designs, and settle for a little bit of both.

Raising the earth is actually kinda difficult- you guess it's less mana exhaustion, more physical exhaustion for this type of ability. You relay your suspicions to your father, who breaks from helping you with the bath to take notes.
Which really wasn't what you were aiming for.

Despite your hold ups, You build a trio of rather wide pools, each lower than the last, with a stone tower set at the top.

You give the tower a bit of a lip, and set the water stone above- while your father carves an enchantment to let your trigger the water as you wish.
Without climbing up to the stone, specifically. In the bottom-most pool, you set a drain with a simple stone plug- though it'll likely take an arachne to move it. A channel beneath it drops straight into an underground river, one the earth so helpfully pointed out.
>>
>>35816293
to be fair, we are never actually unarmed.
>>
>>35816367
You fell like you're constructed from noodles by the time you're done, but you have it. That ultimate luxury. Treetop bathing. The water cascades down, forming a pretty little shower. You or Dad take the top pool, and heat water with magic- and the water trickles into the lower pools, each one cooler than the last.

And best of all, with one hand up you can give yourself a hot shower.
Life is good.

Within minutes of the pools being filled and heated, everyone in the nest is in them. Almost.
You're reclining in the highest pool, letting the water soak your body with heat, while Aria and Dad sit lower. Mom and Jin are with you, your mother having flipped herself beneath the water, now reclining against the side- while Jin flaps and squawks beneath the waterfall, making a general mess of everything.

And Sheszka sits warily to one side, glaring daggers at the slow flowing warmth of your bath.

speaking of knives anyone else think we should try to build up our knife fighting skills or maybe just focus on hand to hand at this point, seeing as our hands are a sharp as knives anyways and now we can superheat them. Only reason for I knife skills that I can see being useful would be as a quick weapon if we take a strip of metal off our armor should we lose our main weapon, melt our spear into two long knives/short swords for whatever reason, or find/make a knife that has a useful enchantment on it.
>>
>>35817029
I don't know about knife fighting, since we can't actually do most cool knife tricks if the knife is on our fingers.

but we CAN learn wolverine-style tearing shit up.

Think of it like this also: Giant monster or no, these girls are still babies. They are still in a time of high development and growth, and that demands both lots of sleep and lots of food. As they get older, I fully well expect them to need less sleep, or at least to develop more regular sleeping habits.

The same will also likely come about for emotional maturity, though that will likely be much slower to grow in than their bodies. It's something that is born of experience, after all.
>>
>>35817367
but anon, we still will probably sleep a LOT once we hit adulthood.

The pools wrap around the tree on one side, heading down. No need for people to risk slipping and falling. Sheszka stands at the edge of the nest, watching the water with no small amount of trepidation. You watch her for a bit, before calling out to the frightened puppy.

"Sheszka? The water is fine, yes? Come on in."
She looks at you, eyes wide, and shakes her head violently.
"It's even warm. Come on, just try it."

She blanches, but creeps towards the pool on all fours, stopping at the edge and extending a single foot delicately tapping at the water with a toe.
And then retreating.
"Nuh-uh. Nuh-uh."
You push your top half up out of the water, showering droplets everywhere, hanging on the side of the bath as you confront her.

"Sheszka. Look at me. Did you even feel the water?"
She looks from you, to the bath, and back again. Then she shakes her head.
"Give it a try, yes?"
She watches the water warily, staying back from the edge.
"Jin is enjoying herself, see?"

You both turn to the harpy, who is still spraying water everywhere as she dances beneath the waterfall and back out again. The wolf's face clearly betrays her opinion. Jin has gone mad.

You scratch your head.
"You aren't even going to give it a try?"
Last chance, Sheszka.

She stays where she is. You sigh.
>>
>>35817660
does anyone have those bits of green text about queen lyra using that as an excuse to not work saved?
>>
>>35817665
And then you strike, snakelike.
You arms snaps out, catching the surprised wolf by the wrist- she lets outs a frantic squeek as you reel her in, legs flailing futilely at your strength. Wrapping the puppy against you in a bear hug, you drag your struggling prey into the depths.

Her arms and legs churn the water around you- until her feet find the lip on the inside edge of the pools, meant as a seat. Her struggles slow in your grasp till she's still. You sit her next to you on the stone, the water lapping over her shoulders as you hold her.

"See? It's warm, yes? It's nice."
She nods slowly, words faltering.
"It is... not bad. Yes."

You pat her head gently, combing your fingers through her hair as you scrub her down.

Clothes non-withstanding, Sheszka has picked up quite a tan since her rescue. And her ribs are finally concealed beneath flesh. You poke and prod your way around her body, and she giggles, twisting away from your fingers as you find where she's ticklish. Jin scoots over to the two of you, finally having had enough of the waterfall, and you all settle in for a soak.

The sun continues its path through the sky, the heat of noon making the bath that much more comfortable.

The kid will, of course, think we're a completely different Arachne. A fuckin' scary one carrying a monstrous skull and limbs burning with fire!

And he'll shit himself.

Then the old man will laugh his arse off.

I wonder if Sarah and Elf Dad went back to the ruins yet? I also wonder if we might be able to use earth to safely transfer the chamber with the stones to the surface.

We could then make a tree with an arc reactor.

We already killed the wolves making the mine their den. Other than that, supporting.
>>
>>35818155

I more meant whatever happened to be down there past the wolves. The town was planning on excavating, meaning the mine probably runs a fair bit deeper than we saw. There might be scarier things down there, intersections to old tunnels. Failing that, we now have the ability to call the power of earth to help rebuild the tunnels and make them safe for passage. Bringing Sara is good because she can help us on the careful magic-y bits so we don't bring the roof down on our heads.

I can imagine that exchange:
> "Hello, we have come to help rebuild the mines, yes. We may take a stone or two for our troubles, but it will save lives, we think. Is this agreeable?"
> "Listen Miss, I realize that you and your sisters are giant spiders..."
> "Yes..."
> "But what we need here are diggers. That's not to say you couldn't pull a cart or two, but..."
> "Oh, that is fine, I can just talk to the earth and ask it to move."
> " You can.. Wait? What?!"
> "I am learning new things everyday, yes?"
> Miner grabs his head and walks away muttering things about what his mother always used to tell him.

>Spiderbutt and lewds

Redundant.
>>
A hot bath is unmitigated magic for your aching limbs, and pulling yourself free of it's intoxicating grasp is unbearable. But you do, anyway. You've got a whole lot of stuff to do, and-

No, you've pretty much got unlimited time.
You look back at the softly steaming pools.

No, no. No spending more time in the bath. If you start lazing around, next thing you know you'll grow wings, and spend all your time sleeping on spiders' backs.

Plan number one. Take Jin home. Before her mother tries to hunt you down looking for her. Not that she could take you, but... Okay. Anyway. Let's check on siblings. One step at a time. Yes.

You trundle down the stairs lining your new pools, sweeping towards your other family members. Sara cracks an eye at your approach, half floating in the warm water.

"Enjoying the bath?"
"If I could bring in books, I would never leave, yes?"
You smile.
"That would probably not work, I think."

"I just need more magic. Maybe something to keep the books dry-"
"I'm heading into town, yes? I imagine Jin's mother is more than a little worried."

She looks around the pool, then back to you.
"I am not getting out just yet."
You laugh, shaking your head.
"I will leave you to it, then."

You continue, flagging down Aria with a wave, and she scoots through the water to the ledge beneath you.
"Leaving already?"
"Taking Jin home, yes."
She eyes you carefully, smiling.
"I will be getting stronger while you are gone, yes. Everytime you stop, I will be getting stronger."
>>
>>35818902
You smile back at her, showing fang.
"I am getting stronger too, yes? And more importantly, so is Mom."
Her return grin is a challenge all its own, and you wave goodbye as you head into the nest, pulling your friends from the bath as you go.

It's a bit of an effort to dry them both off, as they spend their time staring longingly at the waters instead of helping you. Eventually, you wrangle them both back into clothing, and skitter down the tree, harpy and wolf in tow.

Your trip towards the town is peaceful- a great deal more so than usual.
Apparently giant skulls on arachne are something that frightens wildlife.

There's the occasional sensation of being watched, but as soon as it moves closer, it is rapidly accompanied by the sounds of an animal fleeing through the woods.

It brings a smile to your face.
It's a good day. You're strong, you have a bath, and you've got a harpy above you and a wolf by your side. You couldn't ask for more.
>That's it for tonight!
>Thanks for playing!

Either that or if we are lucky the town will eventually bring in a dwarf to oversee the mining project. It would be a great way for us to get a window to the happenings of an outside world.

> "So you are a dwarf, yes."
> "Aye."
> "But you do not have a beard. I thought that all dwarves had beards, yes?"
> "And I thought all Arachne had black shells." > "It is an evolution, yes, born from fighting."
> "Aye, and this be an evolution of me own devisin', brought on by a fierce battle with a razor."
> "That does not seem like a particularly useful evolution."
> "Plenty useful, actually. Gives me a huge bonus to mindin' me own damn business. Now pardon me, your highness, but I be needin' to get back to work."
> "Please tell me you have not spoken with the small moth known as Nin."
> "What?"
> "The small moth says I am queen, but this is lies. One should not listen to the lies of the small moth."
> "I... I'll be gettin' back to the mines, then."

He might love us like a daughter, but in the kind of way that mom loves us like a daughter. What I'm getting at here is, telling the armorer we can metal bend may or may not be the best idea.
>>
>>35818969

Needs a final line of
> LIES!

to really sell it.
>>
>>35819160

Do you want to drown your enemies in molten metal?

Do you want to touch some stupid fucking adventurer and turn all his expensive armor into molten slag that eats it's way through him?

Do you want to shape weapons and armor in the midst of battle, a sword into a mace, a spear into a molten bow and arrow?

Talk to the damn blacksmith, we might learn how to solidify certain parts of molten metal so we pull off some bullshit, like, a meteor hammer, with molten steel as a chain.
>>
>>35819373
I wonder what the extent of this metal bending stuff is. Like, any kind of metal? Can we manipulate the iron in people's blood or the calcium in their bones?

Can we put on a puppet show with skeletons?

>>35818969
Top kek, anon, top kek.
>>
>>35819373
>>35819450

Relax, anon, I was just kidding while making an allusion to the fact that the grumpy old man to our mother's adventurer is bound to be a hard task manager. As for EXTREME metal bending, I kind of hope we don't get too many snazzy new abilities for a while.

I mean, we can web sling, earth bend, earth sense, summon lava, metal bend, fight exceedingly well, and can destroy magic with our bare hands. We aren't really deficient in any of these things (partially due to always rolling high), but are actually as competent in some categories as people who make a career of these things.

In my own mind, for an adventure to be really compelling, there has to be some room left for us to grow when we start off on the road to it, some way to improve and better ourselves as we travel. The outside world is dangerous, no doubt, but I'm not sure how much more dangerous than the swamp we can make it without going way over the top with increasingly high stakes.

To that end, I kind of hope that the earth spirits get weaker when we leave the forest, magic thinning out to level the playing field back out. After all, the land of our home loves us, but other places, we might have to see.

Anyway, I'm still having tremendous fun and can't wait to see where REQM takes things. I just hope we haven't already run out of compelling ways that we can improve ourselves.
>>
>>35819946
We still have yet to meet anything that actually seems threatening.
>>
>>35819969

We tend to roll absurdly high, as in all the time. If we had more bad rolls (see the shadow bear fight), we might actually come to know the world is a lot more dangerous than we give it credit for. We really could have died plenty of times. We just always got lucky. Was kind of hoping the bear fight would give her a bit of perspective on the whole "mortal danger" thing, but I'm more glad that things are keeping their noble bright, safe feeling.
>>
>>35820259
This has actually been sort of a problem. We have been going into fights by charging, critting, and mopping up with subsequent rolls. No difficult choices to make besides "attack", " advance", and "go get em". This has not been a bad thing so far since REQM knows what the plurality wants. Still, it would be nice to make more strategic decisions rather than have our rolls decide everything about the fight.
>>
>>35820259
>>35820434

What really sells this quest for me is that exceedingly bright quality. Adorable moments abound, but more than that, the world just feels right here. People are kind and honest. The good earth is rich and teeming with life, the villains more comical than threatening. The MC has a genuinely loving and caring family to come back to and a wide garden to explore with just enough danger or trouble to be found within if she goes looking for it.

Of course, I can't help but feel that the world outside isn't like here, that we are quietly nesting away from those real troubles while seeking these familiar comforts, at the same time denying ourselves the chance to see the greater wonders beyond our door. I suspect that time will lead us from this place and into a world not quite so ideal and that the power being gently placed into our hands comes with the hope that we'll confidently step outside, to seek out not just the darkness, but the bright light of the furthest heights, to stand atop tall mountains, sail across the deep blue seas, to touch the stars hovering above faraway fields, and eventually come back to our home when all is done, changed.

That's where the real challenges lie, I believe, on the roads we've yet to take. All we need now is the right push, the first step guiding us toward those new and fantastical destinations.
