You are KARLA WEISS, a Belkan fighter pilot looking to carve your own place in the skies!

You groggily open your eyes, only to be met with blurry vision and a skull splitting headache. Groaning, you don't really get out of your bed so much as just roll off of it, dropping down on the cold concrete floor. Estovakians weren't much for creature comforts, apparently.

Your memory about what happened last night was still very hazy, but you did remember some of it. You and your wingmates were celebrating you making not just ace, but ace in a day. Of course, copious amounts of alcohol were involved. Apparently, Artemis was far more lax about enforcing alcohol consumption, as long as it didn't interfere with everyday duties. However, that was pretty much the extent of your memories. Clambering to your feet, you slip into your flight suit and groggily limp your way to the barracks kitchen. You really, REALLY needed some coffee.

Lara, Lilian, and Amy were already there, eating breakfast. Of course, they probably force fed you the greater share of the drinks. Lara waves happily as she sees you arrive.

"Hey! Karla! Have a good night's sleep?"

"I've had better." You grumble as you pour yourself a cup of coffee from the communal pot. Maybe this time it won't taste like stale turpentine. "Don't remember much, though."

"Man, it was a really wild night!" Lara chortles.

"You were quite the party animal." Lilian smiles.

"Surprised all of us." Amy nods.

"Wait..." You freeze. "What exactly did I do?"

"I didn't know you could use your tongue like that!" Lara grins. "Really amazing stuff!"

Wait... what. WHAT.

The horror on your face was clearly evident, as the girls try to keep a straight expression on their face... for about three seconds.

"Ah! We're just fuckin' with ya!" Lara laughs and slaps you on the back. "You just passed out. Guess we should've moderated your intake."

"But the look on your face!" Amy nearly falls out of her chair as she's still laughing.

You don't say anything and just grumble into your coffee cup. No sense trying to raise a stink about this. It was just a simple prank, and they were still your seniors, after all. Plus, that headache still had not quite gone away yet. At least in your hungover state, your addled brain could trick you into thinking the coffee you were drinking actually tasted decent.

"All right!" Lara claps. "No missions scheduled for us today, so that means we got some free time!"

"Booooooring." Amy rolls her eyes.

>>35814500
The thing is, it doesn't even fit Ace Combat. I mean last thread was basically roll 1d10 to see if you F-4 phantom II breaks the laws of everything and manages to out turn an F-22. I don't think even Ace Combat lets you do that.
>>
>>35814601

>>35814601
You're under tired in plane for the majority of the game...

>>
>>35814601
>>
>>35814601
We didn't out turn an F-22. We rapidly decreased acceleration due to a less aerodynamic design, causing it to overshoot.
>>
>>35814601
>manages to out turn an F-22
We slammed on the 'breaks' twice. The F-22 can't keep that kind of low airspeed without nosediving into the ground. The brick we fly could.

Yes, congrats on using the other option. Everything (or vast majority) gets decided on dice anyways at the end of day so if you don't like dice rolling probably not going to like this in the long run.

My point was, there should be (imo) more maneuvering or doing some cool stuff like that instead of just roll 1d10 for turning.

For example, the MiGs last episode could've easily http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thach_Weave 'd us.

The likelihood of this happening is closer to zero than one. Again, this going end being very roll heavy quest if the last thread is telling. Don't like it? Then prepares you should find somewhere else to be. Personally, I'm fine with the ways are at this time.

"I'd like to see the shop, at least." You shrug. "Gotta know the name of the guy who's going to fleece me on toilet paper, right?"

"Ah, don't worry, The Quint isn't going to gouge you... much!" Lara grins. "But yeah, he's the guy who's in charge of doling out licenses and new planes, so it's best you make a good impression on him, yeah?"

"Okay, what do I need to know?" You ask.

"Don't try to haggle." All three of your wingmates say at once.

"Gotcha." You sigh.

With that, Lara leads you out of the barracks and to one of the many hangars reserved for for Artemis' use. However, instead of planes, the hangar held countless crates of all kinds of cargo. To the side, you could see temporary shelves set up stocking all sorts of goods from food and toiletries to guns and ammunition. Behind a large wooden crate being used as a makeshift counter sat a rather mousy looking man, with balding hair but a very prominent mustache.

"Karla, this is Quint. Quint, this is our new squadmate, Karla." Lara introduces you.

"Ah! So this is our new pilot! Always glad to see new business!" Quint stands up. You notice he's rather short and portly, and wonder if he'd ever spent a day in the army or was always a corporate shill. "Come see my many wares?"

"Yeah, I'm just looking." You say.

"Well, by all means, feel free to look around!"

The F-22 has better low-speed handling and a lower stall speed than the F-4. But I'll grant that it doesn't matter much since Ace Combat was never about realism anyway.

"So um, how exactly does procurement work here anyways?" You ask, looking around at all the stacks of cargo crates. "I'm pretty sure you handle things differently from the army."

"That we do." Quint nods. "You got a payout after your mission, right?"

"Yeah." You nod, taking out a stack of bills with the Artemis logo stamped on them. "Company credit?"

"Yep." Quint nods, glancing at the bills with a hungry gleam in his eye. "Common practice for PMCs. Discourages the employees from just taking the money and running, you see? So we've basically built up our own little mini economy. As you've seen, you get a payout for every kill you get. The bounty varies depending on the target, but once you accumulate enough money, you come talk to me, and I can arrange for you to have access to better weapons, gear, and planes. Simple as that. You can even sell your existing licenses or older planes back to me at a reduced rate."

"I see." You nod. "What can I get for $1100?"

"Hah! Not much!" Quint laughs. "Come back with some more credits, and I'll show you what I've got."

"Thank you, you've been very helpful." You say politely.

"Ah, I'm just trying to get your money!" Quint chuckles. "But you're welcome!"

With nothing else to do, you leave the store and head back for your own hangar, where you see Smokey waiting for you.

"Ah! There you are!" Smokey grunts. "That plane of yours is getting to be a real eyesore, you know! Navy Grey has be one of the most boring and depressing colors ever! Ya better do something about that! No proper Ace should be flying with a bland design like that!"

Aw, how sweet. He really did care.

"Let's go with a bit of blue/grey mix for the main paint scheme." You say. "If your guys are up to it, I'd also like a feather pattern on the wings. As for the emblem, a blue and gold Valkyrie head would do."

"Oho, it sounds like you've been thinking hard on this!" Smokey chuckles. "All right, I'll get my boys to grab the paint and start sketching out designs! We'll probably get the whole thing done by tomorrow if-"

Suddenly, you hear the wail of air raid sirens ring throughout the base. Out on the tarmac, you can see pilots and ground crew sprinting for their planes, clearly in a panic. You see an Artemis jeep roll up to your hangar and Samantha hops out.

"Bravo's pilots are all here? Good!" Samantha points to your planes. "Radar just detected an incoming bomber wave! Scramble and get your planes in the air ASAP! We'll brief you in the air!"

With that, Samantha hops back into the jeep and speeds off, no doubt to rally more forces.

"You heard her!" Lara snaps as she rushes to her plane. Lilian and Amy follow suit.

"We've only got the UGMs loaded right now!" Smokey yells as you grab your helmet and clamber up to the cockpit. "We can load up your 4AAMs, but it's going to take another few minutes!"

"No time, Smokey. I'm just going to have to do without them." You say.

"Gotcha!" Smokey dashes away from the plane, yelling at his crew to get clear. You go through a rushed preflight check as your wingmates already begin pulling out of the hangar. You follow and take off in quick succession and non-critical planes are quickly diverted away from your path.

"Bravo flight, this is Loki. Proceed east toward the coast and await further orders." Loki says in a rushed tone. Seems he was just as surprised by this turn of events as you were.

You and your wingmates form up. To your left you saw a flight of six Mig-21s, and to your right, four Mig-31s interceptors, both Estovakian units. Was this really all you had available?

"Loki, is this all we have? Where's Alpha and the others?"

"Off on another operation. We've already recalled them, but they're still at least thirty minutes out." Loki says.

"It's almost as if they planned this." Lilian mutters.

"All right, cut the chatter!" Loki snaps. "I'm receiving mission a mission update. Control has confirmed at least six large bombers and a number of smaller aircraft are headed straight for our airbase. Bravo, you're to cover the interceptors as they engage the bombers."

"Roger." Lara affirms.

"Bravo, we have a problem!" You hear the Mig-31 team leader say. "We are trying to get a lock on the bombers but we're encountering interference! They must have an ECM plane covering them!"

That wasn't good. If the Mig-31s couldn't lock onto the bombers, they wouldn't be able to use their long range missiles to take them down.

"Hey, Stripes, how about we help these guys out?" You say.

"I'm liking the way you think, Valk." Lara chuckles.

If there was one thing you learned about ECM planes, it was they actually weren't very hard to spot. After all, you just had to spot the huge green blob on your radar. However, what ECM planes were good at was making it more difficult to engage from longer ranges. WVR capability was hampered and forget about BVR. Fortunately, you only saw one large blob on radar, meaning it was one big plane providing the ECM, rather than multiple smaller ones.

Amy stuck back with the main Estovakian formation while you, Lara, and Lilian pull ahead, Lara and Lilian's faster planes slightly outpacing you, much to your annoyance.

"So, anybody got any opinions where we should hit them from?" Lara asked.

"Well, we should come in low to avoid being spotted until it's too late." Lilian says.

"But that's no fun!" Lara groaned. "We should bounce them! That ECM has to be hampering their own radar, too!"

"Why not both?" You ask. "You and me go high and drive them down, and Angel and Magnet come from below and trap them?"

"Ha! I like the way you think!" Lara says happily. "All right, we'll split off into pairs."

With that, you and Lara start quickly gaining altitude while Lilian banks away and waits for Amy to catch up.

"Enemy formation will be in bombing range in ten minutes." Loki warns.

You silently ignore him as you follow Lara in her climb. Sure, her Eagle was fast, but your Phantom still had plenty of thrust to spare. You finally top out well above the clouds. Checking your radar again, you note that you should now be right above the ECM plane. You bank your fighter slightly so you can get a better look. With radar on the fritz, you needed visual confirmation of your target.

You narrow your eyes. You think you can see the ECM plane. Big planes like AWACs were hard to miss, but you couldn't really tell if it was escorted or not, and what kind of escorts it was carrying.

"Lara, you got a visual no our target?"

"Only a partial. It's definitely down there. No idea on escorts, but that just makes it more exciting!"

You then see Lara's Eagle spin in the air as it dives down. Of course she'd go for the bounce. You follow suit, but consider your next move. You could target the ECM plane to ensure you kill it in one pass, or you can hang back to cover Lara as she makes her attack run.

You see Lara's Eagle swoop down and fire off a pair of missiles at the AWACS plane. You only see one hit, but it slams into one of the AWACS' engines, sending ugly black smoke streaking through the clouds. With the sudden loss of engine power, the AWACS begins losing altitude. Lara maintains her momentum and dives past the stricken plane, and you see two shapes burst from the clouds in pursuit. It was a pair of Mirages. However, they don't appear to have noticed you, putting you in the perfect position right behind them. They were a bit too far for guns, but well in range for your UGM's IR mode.

You couldn't ask for a better shot. As you shoot past the crippled AWACS, your targeting systems buzzes with a positive IR lock. You volley fire a pair of UGMs and watch them fly. The first missiles shoots right up the trailing Mirage's engine and blows it apart. The leading Mirage takes a hit on the wing, which rapidly breaks apart. You see the cockpit explode as the pilot ejects and the empty wreck falls to the sea below.

"You're welcome." You say to Lara.

"Ahehehe, I knew you'd get them."

"Sure you did."

With no more immediate threats, you and Lara begin leveling out. Up ahead, you could see the bomber formation, the large planes leaving a long stream of vapor in their wake. You also see Lilian and Amy's planes shoot past as they climb to engage the AWACS.

"I think we have this handled." Lilian says. "Perhaps you should thin out the enemy numbers for our Estovakian friends?"

"Gladly." Lara chuckles. "You ready, Valk?"

"Always." You say as the both of you hit afterburners to catch up to the bomber formation.

Up ahead, in addition to the six bombers, you could see an entire squadron of Mirage IIIs, a pair for each bomber. Not too bad. A Mirage III was roughly on par with your Phantom. You also could spot what looked to be a pair of Mirage 2000s, something Lara's Eagle was more of a match for. You suspect that pair to be an ace team.

As for the bombers, they looked to be Tu-95s, judging from the bigass propellers.

"So how about we bag ourselves some Mirages?" You ask Lara.

"More kills for us, and I don't think the Stovies would complain about us making their job easier." Lara agrees. "Angel, what's the status on that AWACS?"

"On its last legs." Lilian says cheerfully. "We should be able to neutralize it in the next few seconds."

Hm, well, if you timed it right, that mean that once the AWACS went down, you'd be able to engage the Mirage escorts from a distance. Then again, you could also take advantage of the AWACS' radar jamming to get as close to the formation as possible.

Unfortunately, your timing is off, as your radar suddenly winks back to life.

"Gotcha!" Amy says happily.

Goddamnit, Amy!

With radar back on, the Mirage you're targeting realizes your on its tail and it immediately breaks off, spoiling your aim. However, Lara at least manages to bag her target with a missile hit.

At this point, the entire bomber formation was in disarray, With enemies in front and now immediately behind, the escorts weren't sure which direction to go. You saw the six of the Mirage IIIs and the two Mirage 2000s speed ahead to engage the Estovakians. Meanwhile, 4 long range missiles streaked in, slamming into the lead bomber's fuselage and cooking off its payload, causing a brilliant explosion in the sky. However, the bombers maintained formation, apparently confident in their escorts' ability to get them to the target.

You shoot off two missiles at the bomber, and you see both projectiles drill into into a single point on the wing, snapping half of it off. The crippled Tupolev begins rapidly losing altitude, and you could see parachutes deploying as the crew bailed out.

"That's two bombers down!" Loki says happily. "Keep it up!"

At this point, the Mirages that had stayed behind were regrouping, with Lara and Lilian engaging them. You could see Amy unloading her vulcans into another bomber, but it stubborn refused to to go down. A pair of long range missiles streaked in and hit another bomb, blowing a hole open its fuselage, but the plane continued flying forward. Shit, these guys were certainly dedicated to their mission, whatever it was.

Meanwhile, you could hear the panicked radio chatter of the friendly Mig-21s as their formation slammed into the other Mirage formation. From what you could hear, things weren't going too well for them.

Trusting the Mig-31s and Amy to mop up the bombers, you hit your afterburners again to reach the main fighting. You can hear that the Mig-21s were completely overwhelmed, and the fighting was pretty savage. From your best guess, there were 2 Mig-21s and 3 Mirages down. Both of the Mirage 2000s were still up and were apparently causing the bulk of the damage.

"This is Knife One! We need urgent support!" You the leader of the Mig-21s yells. "At this rate we will not be able to keep the enemy away from our interceptors!"

"Sit tight, Knife One, you've got backup on the way." You say as you power climb to gain some altitude before diving down on the main engagement.

You launch 2 missiles and watch them streak off. The trailing plane eats both missiles and you see both wings get sheared off from the dual explosions. The wingless fuselage tumbles to the sea below.

Meanwhile, the leading Mirage 2000 realizes his wingman is down.

"What, another one?!" You hear him utter as he hits his air brakes, causing you to shoot past him. "You'll pay for this!"

Damn. If you remembered correctly, the Mirage 2000 was more maneuverable than your Phantom, but you at least matched him in speed. If you went full afterburner, he'd have trouble keeping up with you but you wouldn't be able to lend any further support to the Fishbeds. All planes have an ungodly amount of Missiles, but you can still run out of them on longer missions, or if your timing sucks.

You decide that it's time to try a very crazy and frankly, pretty damn stupid maneuver. You rapidly kick your rudder and pull back on your stick, causing your Phantom to literally tumble in the air.

Well, on one hand, your tumble maneuver succeeds in causing the Mirage to overshoot its target. However, on the other, you can't regain control of your craft and it continues its tumble to the ocean.

"Shit shit shit!" You breathe as various warning bells and klaxons scream that your plane is doing something it really shouldn't be. You need to recover from this or you'll be going for a swim, and you don't particularly want to eject in the frigid Estovakian waters. Fortunately, you were still fairly high up, so you had a bit of breathing room.

Working under a combination of desperation, instinct, and training, you manage to get your nose down and turn the tumble into a dive, using gravity in your favor and wresting control of the plane back to you. You breath a sigh of relief as you level off your fighter.

"That was some crazy shit there, Valk." Lara says as her Eagle settles in over you.

"Impressed?" You joke weakly.

"Yeah, but Lilian's probably gonna give you a good slap on the face when you land. You scared her to death."

"At least I know she cares." You sigh. "Loki, what's our status?"

"All enemy bombers shot down!" Loki says happily. "Knife Squadron also sends their regards. They say that if not for you, the Mig-31s would have been hit."

"Just doing my job." You lean back in your seat, suddenly very tired.

<<MISSION ACCOMPLISHED>>

KILLS
Mirage III: 400 x 2 = 800
Tu-95: 100 x1 = 1000
Mirage 2000: 600 x1 = 600

Mission Total: 2400
Total Funds: 3500

---

"Good job, Bravo." Loki says proudly. "You're free to RTB. Alpha has returned and will be taking over air patrol duties."

Ah yeah, you could really use the rest...

---

Colonel Antonin frowned as he read the after action reports. The plan should have been flawless. Perfect. Wait for the usurpers and their mercenaries to leave a skeleton force at their base, and then bomb it into oblivion. His man on the inside there assured him they barely had a dozen combat ready craft. Yet, here he was, now eight bombers, an AWACS, and over a half dozen fighters short.

There were a lot of details to sift through, but there was one thing all the accounts could agree on.

The intervention of a singular F-4 Phantom...

>>>/b/576401398
>>
>>35821801
Well I think the Ace that got away noticed us the most compared to the other fighters and his account was somewhat biased.
>>
>>35821801
Karla's intervention in the Mig/Mirage furball basically prevented the Mirages from engaging the Mig-31s, which were doing the majority of the heavy lifting in terms of killing the bombers.

Plus, you're the only fighter that's been pretty much everywhere in this fight. You helped take out the AWACS, shot down one of the bombers, and took out an ace's wingman. At this point, you're a figure of interest, but not full blown DEMON LORD.
>>
>>35821902

SOON.

Don't suppose we could see the shopping pricelist?
>>
>>35821801
The others mainly stuck to doing one task, While Karla was jumping around.

First she assisted in getting that ECM plane. Then she took out it's 2 escorts. After which she then took out the bomber, before she then went and assisted the Estovakian Mig-21's by taking out one of their aces in 1 of 2 Mirage 2000s, leading the other ace away from the struggling Migs, to which then were able to hold out and protect the Mig-31s
