Two years ago, you turned into a demon and killed an army in order to save your little brother and some other children. Now, one of the women who was taking care of those children is asking you to lead a group of survivors to scavenge the abandoned military base that you all dismissed as an option for being too dangerous.

"So, what you really mean is that you want me to go in first, draw out whatever's hiding in there, pulp it, and then stand guard while the group goes in and searches the place, right?" She's not a stupid woman, but she must understand what asking you to actually lead a group would mean.

"No. I mean I want you to take a more active role in this community. As a human. If you only act like a weapon, that's all these people are going to see you as." She leans forward, fixing you with an unmoving gaze. "I know there's more to you than those powers, Aria. I know you've got a good heart. But the way you act, no one else can see that. You may not care what they think about you, but I do. And so does Adam."

"I thought you were above using my kid brother to guilt trip me." The fuck does she think she's doing, dragging him into this?

"Listen. You've done an excellent job protecting us. We'd be much worse off than we are if not for you. I know for certain that I'd be dead. You're a blessing. But what will happen if that blessing runs out? Or if you meet an enemy you can't kill?" She lets the question hang in the air, then sighs, and leans back. "I'm not going to force you, that'd just make you resent me. But it's something I want you to think about."

"Fine. We'll do it your way." She's made some good points. You're strong, for certain, but there's no telling what kinds of demons are still out there. And if these powers ever go away... you'd rather not have everyone looking at you as 'the demon-girl who's now helpless'. "But if I'm going to be 'a leader of the community', I think I'm going to need a shower."

"Of course. You didn't even need t-"

"And some batteries." Edith goes quiet, narrowing her eyes at you. Right, sometimes you almost manage to forget she's... traditional. "For flashlights." You're not sure she quite believes you, but at least this way, you can hold onto some plausible deniability and not leave your 'stress relief' habits out in the open.

"...I'll take care of it." Okay, yeah, she definitely didn't believe you. "The team's already together. They'll need a couple hours to get everything set up, but other than that, it's up to you. Since you're leading, you decide how this is going to be done."

"We'll leave at the crack of dawn," You reply after a few minutes of thought, "Plenty of time to clear everything out. Rushing will only get people killed."

"Good plan." Edith nods. There's a strange tone of pride in her voice. Did she even expect that you'd accept? Well, all things considered, maybe you're not that surprised. "I'll let everyone know."

You rise from your seat, meal unfinished, before she can spring something else on you. Still, you've gotten to know Edith a little bit better, whether you really planned to or not.

The mall's got somewhere around two hundred people in it- a far cry from the thousands who'd come through every day in the time before, but it's still enough to make it hard to avoid people. Plus, you have a feeling that if you're going to become a 'community leader' like Edith wants, you're going to need to actually get to know some of these people.

The mall includes a gym, which is convenient enough. Showers are restricted to cut down on wasted water, but no one dares question you as you make your way in. They also don't question why you take almost forty-five minutes to finish, or why you seem to be in a siginificantly better mood once you come back out.

There's something like thirty people in the food court when you return. Edith is nowhere to be found, nor do you really recognize anyone else, either. Oh, wait, there's Adam, but even he seems to know these people better than you do. Everyone here knows your name, but you'd be hard-pressed to remember even a half-dozen of theirs. Well, shit.

Scanning your eyes over the crowd, you do spot a couple people who don't seem to scowl or look away immediately upon making eye contact with you. That's a start, right?

You knew since you were twelve or thirteen that you felt about girls the way everyone expected you to feel about guys, but never really said anything to your parents while you were growing up. Not so much because you were ashamed or thought they'd judge you just so much as it never really seemed like something to bring up. It wasn't like you'd be bringing a girlfriend home any time soon. Years later, you still haven't really told anyone. Not that there's anyone to tell, aside from Edith. Maybe one day, just to see if her head explodes.

That aside, it's hard not to notice that she holds your gaze. She's not afraid of you. That's a start, right?

Clearing your throat, you walk over and sit down across from her, trying to think of some way to break the ice.

"What're you reading?" Simple, to the point, hard to fuck it up. That should work out alright.

"Farmer's Almanac. Heard Edith talking about how the stocks were low and that you were going to help us get supplies to start growing our own food." She seems to be more skimming than really reading, and has flipped through a few pages by the time you reply.

"Hell of a thing to just happen to overhear." Truth be told, you're a little suspicious. Why have you never seen this girl here before, if she's so in touch with what's going on? You were under the impression everyone else called Edith Mrs. Orton. How'd she even learn her first name?

"Well, I've been keeping an eye on you." She states this as matter-of-factly as anything else in the world, and you choke on nothing in particular.

"I'm not making a point. I'm just observing." An awkward silence passes over the conversation after that, and you sit, looking around at nothing in particular. You're about to get up and just go do something else when she speaks up again. "My name's Glenn."

"Like the actress?"

"Mmhm."

"Well, nice to meet you, I guess, Glenn." Not really a name you've heard much before. But then again, your name is 'Aria', so you can't really judge.

"Because Edith's trying to make me more of a community leader or something." You shrug. "Just from my conversation with you, you can probably guess how well that's going."

"Well, that answers why you talked to someone. But not why you talked to me."

"Because you're the first cute girl I've seen since this shit started." The line comes out easily, almost automatically. Maybe you're not so bad at this whole social thing after all.

"Oh." She goes quiet after that, but the silence is different this time. You didn't know better, you'd say she was almost nervous. "I think I'm starting to get a better understanding of who you are. But I should go."

She's up and gone before you can say anything to stop her. Still, for a first conversation with a girl, that definitely could have gone a lot worse.

"Hi, Adam!" You call out to your brother as you rise from where you're sitting and close the distance. He waves, but doesn't run up to you like he normally does. Probably still mad at you for not actually telling him anything this morning. "Who're you talking to?"

"Oh." The woman, who was smiling and laughing with your brother just a moment before, fixes you with a rather unwelcoming gaze. "You must be Aria, then."

"Oh, don't be like that, dear. Regardless of all this mess, she's still just a teenage girl." The man, with stark white hair and a rather noticeable widow's peak, smiles and gestures for you to sit down. "Besides, we should be grateful to her. And Adam's crazy about her, even if he's a little mad at her right now."

"She's a jerk." Adam butts in, quite authoratatively. Then, to you, "You're a jerk, Aria." This sets the man right off giggling, and it's a few moments before the laughter dies down enough for him to wipe his eyes and extend his hand.

"I'm sorry, where are my manners. I'm Samuel, and this is my wife Sofia. We were just borrowing your little brother. He's got quite a lot to say for a boy his age, doesn't he?"

"Glad you're getting along well with Adam." Seems like an alright guy. Your brother's got a pretty decent sense of character.

"He talks about you constantly."

"That's all he ever talks about." Sofia avoids looking at you, and comments just loud enough that you're sure you were supposed to hear it.

"Should I leave?" She's not the first person to be this way towards you, and you suspect if her husband weren't here, she wouldn't be here at all.

"No, no, please. Stay. Sit down with us." His wife elbows him in the side, and he gently elbows her back. "Edith tells us you're going to start getting more involved in the community."

"I've been pretty distant so far. I want to get to know the people I'm protecting- well, that I'm trying to protect a little better." Some of your past failures flash in your mind, and it takes a moment to push them back out again.

"See, dear? What did I tell you? She's a good kid wrapped up in a bad situation." She doesn't respond to that, but Samuel seems to take that as a victory, and smiles at you again. "You're doing well. I don't think I could have handled what you do when I was your age."

"Thank you, sir." And here you were really beginning to think that Adam was your only supporter. Now two people in one day have expressed faith in your abilities. Plus whatever the hell that was with Glenn earlier.

"Please, just Sam. Samuel if you're feeling fancy. 'Sir' just makes me feel even older." There are deep wrinkles in the man's face, and if you had to guess, you'd say he was somewhere around seventy. But these times have a way of aging people, so who knows? "Just keep doing what you're doing."

"Oh, shut up, you blowhard." For the first time, Sofia's not just speaking, but speaking loudly. Her eyes, weathered and aged, fix directly on you. "You want to know what I think?"

"Tell me." You're supposed to be a leader. Maybe understanding where this woman's coming from will help? Or, at least, you won't look like a massive tool for saying you don't want to hear it.

"You think you're some kind of hero, don't you?" She doesn't wait for a response before continuing. "You think that this is all about you, and your powers, and your demons, and maybe you put some thought into the well-being of the people who YOU care about, but what about the rest of us?"

"Sofia..."

"Samuel, I love you, but shut the hell up. This girl needs to understand that she can't just go on the way she is and expect everything to work out." Her gaze is on you again, cold and hard. "You think your life is worth more than that of the rest of us? Because you can say a magic word and turn into a demon? We're not just bystanders. We're people. And you've let people die who are worth far more than you would be if not for those precious powers of yours. Try thinking about that for a little while next time you decide to go catapulting off into a mob and leaving the rest of us to fend for ourselves, or-"

Sofia's rant is interrupted, and broken, by a quiet sob. Adam's. He's leaning forward, hugging his arms and looking at the ground, and between the yelling, and the content of what she's been saying...

"Come here, Adam." You hold out your arms, and the boy jumps into them, burying his face in your neck. You gently stroke his hair, and keep him close, turning your attention back to Sofia. Your next words will define not just your relationship with her, but possibly your outlook and perception by the group as a whole. You'll have to think carefully before speaking.

"I'm sorry."

"What?" Whatever Sofia expected you to say, that wasn't it.

"I'm sorry. I'm not a hero. I don't know how to save everyone, I don't know why I got my powers." You hug your brother tightly. All this started because you couldn't leave the kid on his own. "All I know is that I need to keep Adam safe, and that I want to do my best to help everyone else as well."

"That doesn't excuse-"

"I know it doesn't!" You feel Adam tense as you start shouting, and lower your voice again. "Believe me. I know it doesn't bring back the people I failed. Nothing will. All I can do is try to be better. Try to save more people than I did yesterday. And I'm sorry, if I didn't protect someone who was close to you, someone important to you. More sorry than I can ever explain. But I'm just one girl, I... I'm trying my best."

You feel Samuel's hand on your shoulder, and you look up to see him, a look of mixed concern and pride on his face. He lifts his hand, and brushes tears you didn't even know you'd let out off of your cheeks. "I know you are. We all do. It's just hard to lose the people important to us, and sometimes it's easier to have someone to blame."

"...keep trying, then." Sofia mutters. You think that's as close as you're going to get to approval from her. And as you look around, you see others in the food court looking at you, too. A lot of people saw that. A lot of people heard what you said. Some don't quite seem to believe you, but most of them... Maybe they're finally starting to see you as a person, too.

"You two should get out of here for now. It's been a long day for both of you, I'm sure." Samuel allows no argument, and ushers you out of the food court, away from the dozens of eyes watching you.

Bisexuality isn't faggotry
>>
>>35864397
Well I've never followed AC Quest but you're doing a good job and it's a nice change of pace from the Hexerzone.

>It's actually really good. Abandoned almost two years ago, though, so he could run a FSN Quest that took less pre-planning. (Or something like that.)

>/ss/ aside, I'm like 95% gay. Interest in men is definitely the exception. If you know the Kinsey scale, I'm definitely a 5.

Have you been enjoying the quest?

Well keep up the work OP.
>>
>>35864414
IRL, no, but in quests, it has a tendency to result in just about every thread getting derailed to some degree.
>>
>>35864541
>Yes, actually. I wouldn't have run a second thread if I wasn't.
>Really, REALLY did not expect it to work at all, much less as well as it has. Persona/TWD was a surprisingly seamless merge, once I realized I could take a lot of inspiration from the game.
>Kamen Rider, less so, but it's still playing its part.

>Should I get an ask.fm?
>>
>>35864585
And people say Cutie Gee doesn't give good advice.

>Should I get an ask.fm?
It's not really necessary because of how your quest is a crossover work.
>>
>>35864634
>And people say Cutie Gee doesn't give good advice.
The validity of their advice varies wildly and should always be taken with a grain (read: barrel) of salt.
>>
>>35864817
Well, that sucks. I'd have liked to use it.
>>
>>35864861
>Oh, shit, hey, a subject I can actually talk about!
>It's a pretty shameless toy shill, to be honest. But the recent series have also been really fun. W is a noir detective drama with two REALLY gay main dudes. OOO is about a hippie hobo fighting monsters made of greed to the tune of actually-pretty-good ska music. Fourze is about friendship and rocket punches. Drive is gearing up to be a goofy cop drama.

>We don't talk about Wizard.
>>
>>35864918
Sounds fun.
How much Kamen Rider is in this quest though?
>>
>...
>Thank you, based janitor.
>>
>>35864918
Kind fo reminds me of Evil Precure Quest where a bunch of the fan base has never watched Precure.
>>
>>35864948
>Not much. TeWaPeRi is so far almost entirely in the 'inspired by' group of fanworks, aside from the presence of 'canonical' Personas.
>Well, that, and the failed Rider Kick in the first thread.
>>
>>35864918
Well, I'd like you to post that ask.fm on your twitter at some point. Assuming it hasn't been purged completely.

>>35864966
If only they could be that efficient when things are actually plaguing threads and killing them, rather than helping.
>>
>>35865006
I think we'll be doing many more rider kicks. Many.
>>
>>35865008
>Well, I can always ignore the weird question.
>ask.fm/improvQM
>>
>>35864918
You skipped Gaim.

Also, what's wrong with Wizard? I'm somewhat new to Kamen Rider and have never gotten a straight answer about that. I'm tempted to watch it just to find out.
>>
>>35865061
>So I did!
>Gaim was pretty good, really.
>Wizard just... NOTHING HAPPENS. At all.
>It's like they had the script for a six episode mini-series, and then stretched it out over forty-something episodes.
>And just padded out the rest with a boring invincible Mary Sue main character.
>Incidentally, this is also why I dislike Decade.
>>
>Looks like most of the other questions are being answered on the ask.fm.
>Thread has been archived, I'm gonna go ahead and take of my trip and go back to lurking /tg/ and /m/. Thanks for playing, guys.
>>
>>35865354
See you next time OP.
>>
>>35865008
Have you tried using the report function for threads that are being ruined?
