As our MC's died in a plane crash, the last thing our heroic 29yrs old chemical engineer and fellow fa/t g/uy saw, was his lucky d20 flying off his pocket and rolling about.

Well, it must have landed as a critical success in someone's reincarnation table, because he was reborn to the kind of world, and the kind of life, he had always dreamt about.

Now only did he win the reincarnation lottery by keeping all his memories and skills, he also was born into a world of sword & sorcery, a world run by the rules of old RPG games, the kind of world he had always dreamt of!

Now aged 9, and already personally one of the most powerful individuals in the continent, Eldric Lightbringer gets ready to tackle 2nd year at Albion's Magical University!

Known Allies and Friends
Lyann ~ A beloved sister/slave we bought, rescuing her from an uncertain future. 12yrs old human
Mako ~ A princess in exile from the Heavenly Empire to the west across the ocean. 8yrs old Human. She's a member of our chess club
Ami & Mai ~The "strongest" and the "prettiest" shadoes, according to Mako. These two devoted guardians watch over their princess 24/7
Honoria ~ Dwarven princess of Opal kingdom, a nearby dwarven nation. She's our friend and a member of our chess club.
Okaba ~ Our bro 4 life, a prince of the southern realm of Hêven, and a bit of a mad genius, doing all sorts of strange experiments in the name of PROGRESS
Aura~ Okaba's slave succubii, she harbors romantic feelings for her master. She's simultaneously the lewdest and the purest, somehow.

Athena ~ Our baby sister
Danren ~Our godfather
Cedric Lightbringer ~ Our cool dad
Lunda Lightbringer ~ Our cool beauty-type, scholarly mom.
Baldric Lightbringer ~ Our grandfather. He hasn't made a personal appearance yet, but his influence has a vast influence in the world around us.
Zoe & Stella ~ the latest additions to our family, we bought/rescue them in Opal city, and dad adopted them as part of our family. A lion and wolf beastgirls, respectively.
Ellizabeth (Elli) ~ Our house's nice, cheerful, busty vanilla elf maid
Kalkah ~ A pretty caramel elf slave fruit salesgirl wandering about on Albion's market district. She gives us discounts whenever we want her apples, oranges or melons.
Grummir ~ The boss of our first adventuring party, Grummir has since semi retired to dedicate himself full time to crafting with the mountains of loot he stored during his adventuring career
Miiyau ~ A golden fluffed catgirl and Grummir's companion, Miiyau seems happy to go along with our shenannigans and is ready to help us bury the bodies, should we ever need it.
Asmund ~ Vampire prince of Sbastia, the country neighboring Eopolis. Right now he's an unknown quality.

Patch Report

Minor changes to Duelist, changed wordings here and there

Dagon's Force ~ Made it clear that you can use less than your max MP with it, made it so you cant use die for power with it anymore. You have to admit it was too much damage that way.

Using Dragon's Force no longer prevents you from replenishing MP afterwards

Reworded Arcane Chronoshift a little. Hopefully made it better

Rather confident on having made wind blade and wind road much better. Now wind blade strikes all enemies in a 20" line, and you can extrend it by +10" each time you take it again.

Wind Roar makes your lines into cones. Worried about Justicars, now.

Started changing the format of job entries from 2 columns to one. Not really going to call it a 2.1 when that's done since its just a looks update rather than mechanics.

Updated Archbishop a little, but dont get too comfy because I will probably recreate both bishop and archbishop to make them more related to eachother

Going to shower and brb while everyone else shows up
>>
>>35872954
In regards to your modified dragon force and die for power, this is what I see us doing.

turn 1:Use 1mp metal+1mp wood+remaining mp dragonforce+blast+cascade+chain for 17964 overlapping area damage that bounces.

turn 2:Use 600hp to cast 6x hybrid+3x magic bullet+blast+cascade+chain for 5730 overlapping area damage that bounces, sword set to MP drain

turn 3: repeat turn 1

Continue the pattern until you take like 5000 hp damage and then use a modified turn 2 with the sword set to HP drain.

All that damage will be halved against anyone significant because Wis scaling just utterly destroys Int scaling, so 8982 and 2865 damage respectively.
>>
>>35872954
>Updated Archbishop a little, but dont get too comfy because I will probably recreate both bishop and archbishop to make them more related to eachother

Good, that 2as one of the ones that kinda jumped out at me when I was reviewing the t3 classes.

The singer/dancer/bard line also ahould have aome work I think. Maybe introduce a villager musician line for 3 classes, tops out at bard and a t3 bard/dancer/muscian merges into a top performer class. Instead of having 4 layera of singer going to bard.
>>
so what do think we should do about Asmund

i think caution when dealing with him; he could be up to some bullshit with spiders besides using mana to lessen his times to feed
>>
>>35873037
Basically, with the way you made die for power, there is no reason for us to ever use MP to cast damage spells unless it's a dragon force.
>>
>>35873077

Find a way to break the mana drain portion for our friends, then interact normally.

I think the vampire portion set off loud warning bells in people however.
>>
>>35873294
Him setting up a massive MP drain net without people's knowledge or consent isn't exactly endearing him to us either.

I blame my english, but didint quite get that, could you reword it please?

OoC, Ive been using Asmund in my games for almost two decades. His role is always up to the players. She can be a recurring mid-boss, a vegeta, or a friend. Its really up to you guys

>>35873173
uhmm will have to re read it then, i guess

You guys liked the 2.0 cover image? do you prefer the slavegirl?

Anyway, let's continue...

Mako is playing with a deep look of concentration as she tries to ignore her shadows, who try to cheer her on, by softly chanting "princess, go! you can do it, princess, go!".

After a bit, it's obvious they are actually trying to cheer her, rather than making fun of her.

Well, she's a smart girl, but she's still a nine years old, so you don't really have much trouble leading her into traps here and there.

After a while, the young count wanders over.

"Oh, young Beowulf, was it?" ~he greets you politely~ "I have just arrived to this academy, thus I am your junior. Please take care of me"
"Good evening, count. Uhmm... about my name..."
"I know, but I think everyone has the right to go by whatever name they so prefer, don't you? Excuse me for interrupting your game of... chess, was it? interesting game"

Mako nods politely towards the count, and the count bows deeply, then walks away.

if we can decied then i want him to be the spy friend the kind of friend who would sell information about us but ultimately helpful in the long run

I did like the idea of basically swapping savior and archbishop's movesets. Makes the bishop line the massive healing one, and the prophet line the mass summoning one.
>>
>>35873408
Healing spells have the problem that they're incredibly weak relative to our HP.

It would take a 1:40 mana:heal ratio to get us a 10% heal from mana. That's nuts.
>>
>>35873326
>>The singer/dancer/bard line also ahould have aome work I think. Maybe introduce a villager musician line for 3 classes, tops out at bard and a t3 bard/dancer/muscian merges into a top performer class. Instead of having 4 layera of singer going to bard.
>I blame my english, but didint quite get that, could you reword it please?

I blame typing on a phone for making it into hash.

Shorten the singer line into 3 tiers of jobs. Singer/idol/diva.

Keep the current dancer line, or introduce a tier tier 3 dancer that needs 2 of the tier 2 to hit level 10.

Introduce a musician line off the villager class. This is a 3 tier line that uses instruments.

Finalize it with Virtuoso, a tier 4 job that needs the final class from all 3 lines.
>>
>>35873374
yes, but remember that in this world we only celebrate 5/10/15 years old

After teasing Mako for a bit but letting her win as much as she loses, her shadows take her away for a nap, with Ami carrying her on her back while Mai thanks you for playing with her.

"No, no. I love Mako a lot, so I like playing with her?"
"Oh, the young lord does? that's good" ~she smiles and bows, then leaves with Ami

A little later, you stop by Okaba's lab. Since he wasn't at the chess club, this was a pretty safe bet. And indeed, there he is, looking at the straw spider through several different crystal shades.

The lion beastman that always opens the door wasn't there this time, so instead Aura invites us in.

"Ah, Eldric, how are you doing?" ~she says with a smile as she holds the door open for you
"Fine, thank you."
"Please excuse me"

Going in, you greet Okaba, who greets you back and takes his shades off to talk with you

"Well, rather than going after vermin, it seems to have strong predatory instincts. It simply goes after any living tthing smaller than itself"
"And since it's palm-sized..."
"Right. It pretty much only goes after vermin. It also seems to syphon off a tiny bit of mana from the surrounding area. We are talking about 3MP a day, but I'm not sure on where it is going." ~Okaba looks at it and places it inside a crystal cage~ "Could I keep it for a bit longer? It seems pretty harmless, but I am curious about that mana shyphoning effect"
"Sure, but... I think I have a hunch on where the mana is going."

2/?
>>
>>35873547
So if the spider is siphoning mana rather than making accessible the mana pools of nearby people, that means the count has a way to store incredibly large amounts of mana.

That would be quite useful if we could get our hands on it.

I have no idea what effects to give to musician. Dancer has debuffs and singer has buffs, and bard has both.

I thought about it, but I dont really know.

***
"Well, we can't work on hunches. Let's go slowly and figure out how it does what it does, first."
"Alright."

Lyann meanwhile is happily talking with Aura, the girls exchanging small books while they both blush brightly and go "kyaa~!"

Well, it looks like they're having fun.

As you head home with mom, Zoe, Stella and Lyann, your mom steers everyone towards the market to buy some underwear for the girls.

That is fun on its own, somehow.

"M-mom...?" ~says Zoe timidly
"Yes?"
"Can I pay today?"
"Sure?"
"Can I buy you clothes, too?"
~Mom cmiles and pats Zoe's head~ "Sure, honey."

She probably imagines Zoe made some money helping you with the soaps. Of course, she didin't know you took your lion sister to a dungeon.

Well, it's fun to see mom's reaction. She seems to think about it, and puts down the cheap stuff she had picked up, then selects something a little bit better.

It could be taken badly, but mom has a great figure. She's really pretty.

Of course, the other girls jump on the wagon, and leech off Zoe, who doesn't really knows how to say "no" to them.

That may end up being a problem. The truth is, all three of them are too naive, way too naive! the boys at the college look at them with eyes that make you feel uncomfortable.

That's rather nice, actually. It makes you worried, more than jealous. They really are your sisters, uh? Well... it also makes you a little jealous when Lyann is involved, but since she has to stay close to you...

Yeah, it is a little bad, but the leash effect is being useful in unexpected ways.

Anyway... this world's underwear is quite boring. It's all grandma-type of bodices... it looks more like large pajamas than anything else.

The most playful ones look like a combo of shirt and puffy short pants. Someday, we really need to introduce more exciting clothes into this world.

Speaking of which, master Tazar, that fabulous heretic of a dwarven armorer (tailor?) said he was going to move to Albion, didin't he? Mayhaps we could look him up.

Well, as you are heading home with everyone, you spot Aur-- no, wait... you thought it was Aura when looking at her from behind, but when you approach to her and look at her from a side... how to put it kindly...

~~~flat~~~~
It's not BAD. It's... uhmm... well, certainly, there is that type, too, the type of "big brothers" that prefer DFC, isin't there?
She's also wearing much flashier clothes. A set of wizard-like robes, with twin tails, and high heel boots that go up to mig thigh.
"Good evening!" ~she gives you a large smile~ "Would you like to buy a Pest Killer? just 1s. It will need a day to get to know your home, but afterwards it will keep it clean of mice and other vermin! It even hunts fleas anf thicks, it's great of you have pets or childre-- oh it's just a kid. Hi there kiddo, are you with your parents?"
She leans over with a good natured smile.
...she's really flat, uh?
"Ah, hello. This one is Dawn, the count's slave and assistant. Are you an acquaintance? This one can give you a spider as a gift, then."
"Eldric."
"Well, you're a very cute kid. Are your dad and mom around? are you lost?"
She crouches down so she's eye to eye with us. Well, that's just common sense when you deal with lost children, so they don't feel scared by someone staring down at them.
"No, my mom's right there... do you make these?"
"Yup! This one's actually very capable, you know? They're really handy around the house. In a couple of months, this one may even start selling broom dogs!" ~she expects you to go "Oooh" for a couple of moments, then explains~ "Ah, those are similar, but they are shaped like one of those fluffy small dogs, so they keep your house clean for you, you know?"
~Eldric shakes his head~ "Elli does that already."
"Young master, I will be going out for a little while, is there anything you want from the market?" ~Elli asks us while wearing a long white dress and a wide wing strawhat that makes her look rather luminois
"Can I go?"
"Sure? but who's going to stay with the girls, then?"
"I can" ~says Lyann
"Well... alright"
Elli offers you to hold her hand as she walks with you. It is a very nice, summer-like feeling.
"Young master, hold my hand, alright?"
"Alright"
"Is there a reason you wanted to come along?"
"I like spending time with Elli." ~Eldric says while looking down
"Aww... your Elli adores the young master" ~she leans in to kiss the top of Eldric's head
As it turns out, Elli is acquainted with Kalkah, the fruit salesgirl. They don't seem to be specially friendly or to hold any animosity to eachother. Somehow, it's a nice image, two cute elf girls talking about tasty desserts.
One if a slave and the other is a house maid, but they give off a nice and gentle upper class atmosphere while talking. It looks like two older sisters talking about feminine things. If they were working at a tea shop, it would be the sort of tea shop that serves french pastry on the open air.
It would also be ver popular.
"--ung master, are you bored?" ~Elli looks at Eldric with some worry, since he seemed to be somewhere far away
"No! no, I was just thinking of something else"
"Ah, surely your young master would get bored seeing two girls talking for so long." ~says Kalkah.
We are being taken care of like a child, aren't we?
"I'm really not bored" ~says Eldric with a small frown~ "I was thinking, if Elli and Kalkah worked in an open air tea shop, I'd like that"
"A open air tea shop? is that different from a restaurant?" ~Elli leans her head a little bit as she thinks about it
"Yes, you only serve tea, coffee and desserts, and of course, its out on the street somewhere pretty."
"Oh... that sounds nice, but would people go?"
"Yes, if Elli and Kalkah were waiting tables there, people would definitivly go!"
"Te~hee, the young master it's so silly"
Well, it's nice getting pampered by two pretty elf girls, so let's let them do as they wish.
"Miss Kalkah, have you seen any new shops, lately?"
"Are you looking for anything specific, young lord, or just novelty? there always are shops that close and open with completely different products inside"
"Ah, I'm looking for a dwarven smith that likes to make clothes."
"That is... quite specific. There is one such shop... yes, there is one." ~she gives us the address
"Thank you"
"Aaah~~ your young long it's so polite and cute"
"Isin't he?"
Now we are just getting embarrased, tho
"Elli, can we go look for that shop?"
"Ah, of course young master, I already got what I needed, after all." ~she says farewell to Kalkah together with you, and starts looking for that address
You find the shop without much trouble. It's just a block away from the main shopping street.
Indeed, you see a great many armors and clothes you recognize, displayed over wooden mannequins.
"Is there no service here, what kind of low-quality shop is this?!" ~Eldric calls back into the store
"WHAA~ Who wants to d--!? oh, if it isin't my favorite customer! Hello, young lord, please be welcome! You shouldn't play such jokes, you know I almost threw the axe before checking who it was!"
Tazar is dressed in a pair of fitting black pants with short, high-heel gentlemen's boots, his muscular chest exposed as he wears a very fluffy-looking open shirt with exquisite details nears the end of the sleeves. He's braided his hair backwards and adorned it with gold rings, while his beard is braided in a very complex patter before cascading in two thick braids at either side of his chest.
"It is nice to see you are already installed. But isin't this shop a bit too far away from the main street?"
"Of course not. This shop is exclusive, you know? And now that you are here, I'm sure you will allow me to unleash my full powers from now on. Why, surely in a few weeks, I will have customers going around the block, so long as ... huh... where's the beautiful young lady?"
"She's home today, but I will bring her around soon."
"Ah, good, good! so who do we have here today? I am Tazar, master Tazar, but you can call me master Tazar, young lady!"~he does a deep bow
>>Inquire about master Tazar's situation, maybe offer to get some materials for him?
"E-eh!? b-but... young master... uhmm..." ~she looks quite uncertain about trusting a dwarf's sense of fashion
"I know what you are thinking, miss, but the truth is that I have spent over half my life traveling the world. I assure you, I have ample knowledge and first hand experience with the fashion sense of the world at large."
"Oh, sorry, I didin't mean to..."
"No, it is quite alright. I was something of an heretic when I went back home. Is why I ended up following the young lord's advice and opening shop here, instead. Now, please come in, take your shoes, shirt and skirt off so I can properly measure you."
"W-wh!?"
"Miss, I am an artist, this is an absolutely essential part of my craft. This is not a mass production shop, where the clothes will be "fixed" to the customer. Everything I do is exclusive and tailored to my every customer!"
"It's alright, Elli. I have worked with master Tazar in the past"
"B-but... there's no changing screen!"
"Oh, don't worry, for the young lord, i'm closing the shop for today." ~Tazar lowers a metal screen over the window, turns around the Open/Closed sign and locks the door~ "there, see?"
"...right..."
We take Elli by the hand and guide her into the bowels of the beast, so to speak. In this case, to master Tazar's platform so she can be spun, measured and sized in every way.
"So, you work for the young lord?"
"Y-yes, I'm his house's maid... I've taken care of him since he was born."
"Uhm hu. Young lord, do you want to look at that purple tome over there while I measure your maid?"
It is full of sketches. Both men and women.
It looks like it is a collection of the clothes domestic staff wear around the world. Of course, it goes from the openly lewd and inviting, to the modest and even into the stiffing.
So... do you want something more french maid-like, fluffy and short? something more long and traditional, something not-arabian, something not-asian? or some party "sunday's best" type of clothing? an elegant cocktail dress, what?
On second thought, I should have asked
Under 1g ~ Several good every day work clothes
Up to 10g ~ At least one high fashion dress for special occasions, several good sets of work clothes
Up to 20g ~ Several dresses for every occasion, plenty of high quality maid-like clothes, and while we're at it, let's make some sketches for modern underwear for master Tazar to look at.
Yeah, really should have asked it that way. Also, do you want the clothes to double as armor or just be fabulous dresses?
"Well, you see, I was thinking..."
The dwarf leans over to look at some of our doddles...
"I see... interesting. Yes, that would be doable, but it completely different from this world's common sense."
"So it's not good?"
"It's amazing, I am excited about being the one to bring about this new revolution!"
"Oh, and for work clothes..." ~Eldric makes a couple of sketches, some with long skirts and very innocent presence, clean and tidy, some more playful."
"Uhmm... can I get dressed again?"
"Ah, just a minute, young lady."
Tazar walks over to Elli and takes a completely profesional look at her hips and at the small crevice between her thighs. He measures eeeeerything.
"K~kyaa!"
"Uhmm we are done now."
"Don't worry Elli, I trust master Tazar"
"B-but I don't know him, young master! m-my maidenhood, how am I going to marry now!?" ~she says tearing up
It wasn't that bad, really. Tazar just used several triangular rulers to measure Elli's hip and waist.
"Alright, I have everything I need. It should be... about a week for the first dress, and... yes, about a dress every week once I have a mannequin polished to the righ sizes"
"Could you give them some useful features?"
"Such as?"
"Well, I'd like it if it could also protect Elli some"
"Ah, I see. Yes, it would be better if such were part of the underwear? that way she can always rely on them, regardless of her clothes."
"That's... not a bad idea."
"Oh, and I'd like something for myself, like this..." ~you sketch some modern suits
"That's interesting. Would you like it if I added the logo of the local college? that way you could use it as uniform"
"I want some for normal wear, however, and... welll... some good clothes I can play in the grass with, too" ~Eldric blushes a bit, but the fact is that we want to be able to play with Athena, Mako and the other girls too, after all
And your alternative was? Crying like a bitch? Oh wait, that's your real life plan for everything.
>>
>>35876222
Getting Brass to be the contact, a known merc and former slave, with just a little bit of knowledge that the new ships are going to be armed and armored with dwarven weapons (which would only confirm obvious suspicions since the dwarves are members of the Coalition), while we watched from another table like our uncle did, would have been a much better plan.
Sounds like you just can't handle having the flaws in your brilliant plans called out, or pointed out that your plans were mediocre failures.
>>
>>35876206
We lose nothing, just a little face which might be meaningless if we apologize. We are suspicious of him which is good. No reason to gut punch him yet.
Personally I would not mind using multiple of the spiders to see if we could triangulate where the batter is. We know some advanced math so it might be possible.
He might be trouble, he might not. He might be the same as other nobles at the uni. Go, learn and make contacts.
>We should NOT reveal anything about the ship to him. But deflect it with a "I am here to catch a spy for the empire, now that I found you aren't one, well I don't really have anything for you"
Instead we went with lying about our name, and claiming that this is a ruse.
He caught us at the lie about the name. He will be 100% certain we lied about the ruse when the ship is finished and possibly before it since it isn't a secret that we are the owner of the shipyard.
He is the prince and next in line of a major nation and our fellow student at the school for the next few years. We made an awful first impression on several levels (including appearing incompetent).
We could also potentially also say that we figured out the spider thing, but that we will keep the secret.
You walk back home with a somewhat shaken Elli. She really is worried about her chastity, but it was obvious (to you) that Tazar was being as professional as possible.
Holding her hand helps her calm down, and after a while she seems to be back to her usually cherful self.
That night, we had strawberry cake together with everyone. Mom cut the strawberries into little slices for Athena, and our baby sister seemed to be undecided between loving them or not.
Sharing the bath with Zoe and Lyann, we mention to our favorite redhead that we'd like to take her out to shop for clothes tomorrow.
"Really? ah, yes please!" ~she says with a wide smile.
"And me? can I go, too?" ~Says Zoe while leaning over from behind, hugging Eldric and washing him gently
"Sure, I don't see why not."
"Yay! I'm going out with Eldric! we're going on a date!"
"Wait, do you know what a date is?"
"Well, people is always asking me to go on dates, so I asked mom."
"Alright...?"
"On a date, the boy takes you out, and you have fun, and then if the date was good, you kiss, right?"
"...right"
Really, it's a little worrying. But you have to wonder if she quite gets it.
Well, the girls double team Eldric to tickle and wash him, so he doesn't really has time to do much thinking.
It's kind of hard to wrestle beautiful naked girls while keeping a clean mind, too. Damn difficult
Well, Eldric changes into his pajamas and slips into bed. It was a fun day...
>Basically, they pulled a UN and said they denounce the empire and that the coalition has their "full support (TM)", where full support means "just words, really"
This is pretty accurate, and makes me chuckle a little bit.
>>35876625
Living beings in a fixed environment tend to create floating mana in the environment. Thats where the spiders tap from, not from people. However, this mana is pretty vague and normally is wasted when doors/windows are opened/closed. A huge array in the middle of a street wouldnt be able to collext anything.
A small spider locked in with that mana, on the other side, can. Which is why its better to try and get one into every home.
That said, little constructs like those are pretty normal in Sbastia, and only the spiders have that function. They also have lots and lots of constructs (and undead) programmed to sweep the streets, repair fences, paint houses, etc.
If you dont pay a special tax, your body will be repurposed upon death to serve the state as a public, cheap worker, or maybe in the army.
Thus, despite being a small city state, they actually have a rather MASSIVE undead army, since it tends to stockpile over generations.
By the way, their "token contribution was " don't worry about the home front, if they launch a sneak attack, we got it." basically they wont supply man(skeleton?)power to the war front, but are acting as national guard in the home front
But anyone who has advocated not needlessly antagonizing him has been strawmanned
accused of wanting to reveal all our secrets to him (which all 3 people explicitly said isn't their goal) as well as being accused of being literally nazi appeaser.
Then again, they were voting to literally murder him for being a vampire. despite the fact that it WOULD start a war if a lightbringer murdered the crown prince of their nation
>By the way, their "token contribution was " don't worry about the home front, if they launch a sneak attack, we got it." basically they wont supply man(skeleton?)power to the war front, but are acting as national guard in the home front
that is actually a fair bit more than token support... as long as they actually uphold this rather then reneging on said promise the moment our troops fall
Are their troops actually physically stationed on our borders? or have they just said that they would if it becomes necessary?
That would mean defending the borders of all of the Coalition member-states so that each member could concentrate all of their military force on the Front, rather than keeping their armies divided between the Front and a home guard.
That's actually kind of a huge deal.
Also, their nation sounds exactly like a /tg/-based Good Undead Kingdom.
Undead being used for the common good so that the living can work on what they want, rather than drudgery.
I knownofbthere was a vote we would get 15+ responses, like any heavily contested decision.
They likely feed mana to an array of mana crystals. The family likely is spell chanters that can easily drain them either remote or each hold a large one.
That gives them the mana to spam high power magic to secure rulership.
>>
So there's an entire city state full of people that spam dragon force, which is coincidentally one of the only things on the planet that can kill us.
And there are no defenses against that.
>>
>>35877228
we can counter spam just as hard if not harder
>>
>>35877073
why would we want to?
If we want to really hurt them, all we have to do is reveal the secret.
Most likely scenario is that power utility companies will arise that pay people for taking in a spider into their house (or some alternative form of gatherer), and their family might lose their monopoly on said power.
Regardless they will be at risk of losing their next tournament depending on politics and the rules involved thereof.
Of course, that could backfire in all kinds of interesting ways. But really, I don't see why we would want to pick a fight with them over it. This literally harms nobody
"Ah, I dont think I want to know"
"Why?"
"Well, if his slave is lurking around the men's bathrooms, it is unseemly"
"Right"
Afterwards on your way out, you spot Honoria and her dwarven friends playing chess on the gardens, and head over to talk with them.
"Eldric, dad wanted me to remind you about his invitation to go stay with us during the next summer break."
"Thanks. I may, but I'd like to try somewhere new, as well. I want to see as many different places as I can."
I think it'd be cool. If we created these little spiders on a massive scale, as well.
Doing the same thing would be nice.
drain just a tiny bit of mana and send it to our selves.
We could sell it super cheap. And start exporting it asap. Also make them target the vamp spider's not our own. So if they make their way to the vampire city we will over run them..
We could make our spider's unique..say making them colorful. Making them possibly sturdier. anything that would make it a better product. And try and flood the market with it.
They would likly still have an over supply of mana if they were storing it properly. But with a sudden stop to their supply. Would limit them greatly. IF we can get it into their nation.
Either way. would be cool if we could do the same. and send our mana into stones. And we could go about mass creating golems. Creating a shit ton of tireless workers for our empire..
This has made the argument completely independent of what those vampires are doing.
It is now about whether it is possible for there to exist a thing that harms nobody, but if made public, harms the person practicing it.
Now, if we can settle that this is a RETARDED STATEMENT then we can go back to arguing about whether what these vampires are doing is actually harmful.
She *wants* to be lewd numbnuts, with Okaba and only Okaba. Okaba just isn't having it because he's got issues. She needs to power through those issues with sexiness. She isn't using the pheromones because she wants him to want her for being her.
Today, Tazar is sporting a kilt and shirt, complete with a berett. Where the hell did he ever see a kilt, its a mistery.
FALSE
I am saying that whether the vampires are stealing or not is irrelevant to the question of whether or not there can exist a thing which harms nobody, but if made public will harm the person practicing it.
I have given the iranian homosexual as an example of such a thing.
If you want to argue that the vampires are harming people because what they are doing is thievery, then make THAT argument instead
But it is a completely different argument
>Not retard argument
>>The vampires are not doing a harmless thing, they are committing theft
>Retard argument
>>It is impossible for somebody to be harmed by the revelation of a secret of them doing something that harms nobody.
>>Therefore, the vampires MUST be doing something that harms others, because revealing it to the public would harm them
I have had plenty of people take away parts of my trash before.
I have never begrudged them that. nor have i ever complained.
In fact, many people intentionally sort out their trash to recycleables and non, despite the fact they are not being paid for it, and that the recycling companies make a lot of money.
>>35877646
I said nothing about it being morally righteous to keep their secret. Only that they will be harmed by it being revealed.
EXPLICITLY stated to be in the form of competing trash collectors and the need to pay people for their trash
>>
>>35877623
It's more deep seeded than that. Okaba thinks she's coming on to him to repay him for saving her from the life of a traditional succubus slave. That's the reason he refuses to take advantage and give her the D or make more overt shows of affection.
Aura's sexuality has been informed by her choice in smut, but the reason she got into that sort of thing is because the plot lines are similar to her own life. She sympathizes with the characters, and finds that end to be the happiest possible for a slave. The slave submits to the loving and caring master who does all they can to make their slave happy. She loves him, and she wants him to love her. In her mind, that's lovingly dominating her.
In the end, it's a perfect set up for a somewhat sad romantic comedy. The two are coming at each other from radically different angles and can't achieve a full reconciliation of their desires.
"Two! I think!" ~says Zoe with a beaming smile!
"Four" ~says Stella
"Alright... I think something cute will do, then. Please take your clothes off and step into that platform so I can measure you"
The dwarf writes down their measurements on individual notebooks, asking the girls to do things like stretching and kneeling, twisting their bodies to a direction or the other... after a few minutes of this, you realize he's thinking of clothes they can play with
In fact, the designs he shows you are cute. They are definitively cute clothes for children, with just a tiny hint of playful sexy on them.
"I like them. Please go ahead"
"Alright. I will be done with your maid first, however. Is that alright?"
You are suffering from the "us vs them" binary thinking mentality
You assume that if someone points out a factually wrong statement that you have made, or a logically flawed one, than he must belong to the "other team".
This is false, he could be on your team, or he could be neutral.
Furthermore, you then completely ignore the fact you have made an objectively false statement, and use completely different arguments, as if trying to win the "overall argument" as a personal attack on their integrity, because only a person without any integrity would ever be for the "other team".
This is stupid, you should just admit that you have made a mistake, but then contend that this mistake does not nullify the whole argument. That is still stands based on all the other points, or with a correction.
It shouldn't effect our relatioship with the heir.
Considering he may not even know what the spider does.
Since OP mentioned him doing it out of good will.
And it would make sense that only the crown'd prince/king and a select few would know of the spider trick. Considering it would be huge if it was leaked.
So our grandfather knowing may just be he ran into the spider some where, and had an enchanter look into it. And linked it to thier family. Or we can tell our grand father our theory and he could really look into it. and play his cards as he see's fit.
And we could play none the wiser. Befriend the heir as best we can.
Does it harm anyone? no
Are they profiting from people's ignorance? yes
IIRC the pilgrims when they arrived to america said they would not be traders, but farmers, because trade, by definition, involved buying cheap deom A and selling to B at a higher cost, so it is "dishonest"
So please allow me to answer you back with that example.
Do you think that, if you were the only one in the world who knew how to perfectly harness solar power, and stockpuled it, that would automativally mean you are harming everyone else? they dont even know your power reserve exists
This is exactly like that.
Sure, it COULD be used for the betterment of all manking, but ultimately, it is YOUR KNOWLEDGE, YOUR POWER PLANT, YOUR POWER STORAGE so it is your call.
COULD they do BETTER than to selfishly stockpile that power? of course they could!
Is it morally wrong of them to do it that way? of course it is.
Ir it unethical of them to do it? no. It's not. There's not any law anywhere that says "if you manage to produce something, you are obliged to sharing it with everyone else"
Actually nm... I think there probably IS a law like that in communist states, isin't it?
The whole matter is morally ambiguous and could be debated all day really. I do find it unethical that they are using a secret means to retain power though.
I mean, when it comes to duels to the death you'd expect a kind of informed consent between each party for it to be above board. You know their skills and weapons, they know yours. Not all the ins and outs mind you, but you do get the basics. Things like "uses dual pistols, [martial art/weapon] master, hints at the quality of their gear, ect... This way people don't go challenging someone they stand zero chance against. For instance, in one webcomic I read duels were legal in a country. Any exceptionally potent mage was legally required to wear special gloves whenever they were out and about. That way people knew that, if you do challenge this dude, expect a hard fight at best because he's an archmage.
They're cheating by not informing people about the secret power stash. Cheating in a duel is both a violation of the rules and immoral.
>>
>>35878431
The biggest problem is that it would be argued that a family who can work out the process, use it continually and keep it secret is worthy to be in charge there.
It is a morally grey area. They are arcane duels, so it maybe allowed that using any method to win through arcane means is valid.
It is ethically ambiguous in their home city. Spreading them here is even a deeper grey, since others in the local power structure will start asking questions.
>cultural outlook
thats called ethics
When your culture has X rules about Z and another culture has Y rules about Z, you simply have different ethics
Ethics change. Morals do not
Going into a duel with unlimited power is dickish and morally wrong.
But you are going in to win. Perhaps either side is expected to have secret techniques and such?
When was the last time you saw a martial arts fight where each opponent described and taught his techniques to each other before the fight begins?
Ultimately, is sending a level 100archmage to a duel vs a level 10 archmage a dickish and morally wrong thing to do? yes
But if they know you are powerful and still want to fight you, that's their problem, really
>>
>>35878946
A duel to determine who will be ruler would be rigidly structured and monitored. All comers would know the opposition so they could back out if they didn't think they had a chance.
Hiding the stash causes people to conclude they have a chance whey they really don't. It's like luring people into a trap with intent to kill. Granted he wants you dead too, but that's the structure of things and if you don't like it well, you're the fucking king, change it. Keeping the system and cheating is wrong as it leads to meaningless deaths of otherwise.
>>35879060
If true then that should be an explicit part of the ruleset. In which event nobody would ever dream of challenging them unless they had a similar set up. No holds barred means competent nasuverse magus levels of preparedness on both sides. At that point they're expecting a cheat, and are going to prepare a set of their own.
>>
>>35879125
no, we aren't
i was referring to the fact that eldrik is using his secret knowledge of enchantment slots to get one sided deals that make him a lot of gold, which he gets from others who are ignorant of this fact.
that is less moral than them collecting energy that otherwise goes to waste. because we take gold from people who actually need it. they take mana from the homes of people who don't use it.
>>
>>35879183
*otherwise normal and possibly innocent people.
I guess I need sleep.
>>
>>35879209
>that is less moral than them collecting energy that otherwise goes to waste
No it's not. The vampires are lying, even if only by omission, about the spiders. We are giving people exactly what we say we are giving them.
>>
>>35879183
They've had this setup for nine tournaments. People have seen it at work, and haven't figured out the trick yet.
There is nothing wrong with having tricks, special hidden skills, or secret reserves.
If you're so stupid as to challenge someone who obviously has some kind of killer technique, and people already talk about it, then that's your problem.
The only prohibited thing would be injuring or incapacitating a participant before the duel.
>>
>>35879249
we are "lying by omission" about the nature of the items we are selling
keeping secret the fact there are slots
>>
>>35879280
And the vampires are lying by omission that their spiders are in fact mana collectors and taking a resource from your house.
They're either morally equivalent or the vampires are more in the wrong, due to the ongoing nature of their deception and how they profit from such.
>>
>>35879260
Then you are right, the dumb ones challenge them without adequate preparations or an investigation into the secrets of the technique. Now, if they are of the habit of killing or challenging people who are getting close to figuring the trick out however...
***
We go to Okaba's room.
"Aura, dear, could you prepare some tea?" ~says our friend
"Of course, Master"
"Please take a seat wherever you want."
"Thank you" ~says Asmund
"Thanks"
Asmund seats in a chair while Eldric seats on the bed
"Now, let me confide first. Perhaps it will help the process. Back home, succubi, like Aura and Dawn, are considered monsters. This means that other than as slaves, their very existence is considered a crime. I left home because I need to accumulate enough achievements to inherit the throne, and begin changing the way things are."
"That is... very admirable of you. I'm afraid my take on that story is somewhat less inspiring. I left home in order to gather power so I can kill my father"
~He starts talking~
"Sbastia was originally born as a meritocracy, a culture built much like Albion's, except that based around all magic, it was based around the study of demonology, alchemy, and necromancy."
"These things are known" ~nods Okaba~ "Thank you dear." ~he accepts the cup of tea Aura hands to him
"Well, at first, it was about sorcerous achievement. Creating cheap constructs, recycling the dead as workforce and soldiers, draining ambient mana and storing it. New and better seals on summoned demons."
2/?
>>
>>35879314
And?
My argument was
>We are taking a resource that people use (their gold), via "lying by omission"
>They take a resource that people do not use (ambient mana), via "lying by omission"
Thus we are doing something worse. since both "lie by ommission" to take a resource, but we are taking a resource that people actually use
>>
>>35879356
That actually would be funny. First two times not so much but you know the saying "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, fool me three times and I'm a fucking idiot."
>>
>>35879367
Except those two aren't even remotely equivalent. Our lie by omission does not change the capability of what we are advertising. What we sell does the things we say it does, and nothing else. What they sell does the things it says it does and other stuff that is secret, which helps the person selling the object.
There is a clear moral difference in these, and it's not in favor of the vampires.
>>
Wait, this is a thing that is known?
That any person who completes a college education would know?
"Alright... I can't say I would chase those lines of study myself, but progress is progress."
"After a while, however, magic duels became more and more popular. Non lethal at first, of course. Undead were plentiful, and it was considered harmless to bet on a fight between a red and blue skeleton. Sometimes two constructs, or two enslaved demons."
"I could see how construct fights would be interesting and an incentive for research."
Well, there was something like that in our previous world, wasnt it? just replace constructs by "robots" and it would be the same. And there were also dog and cock fights.
Well, its not as if we supported those last two, but that's the idea.
"Eventually, however, people started to participate in the fights by themselves. Showing off techniques they had developed against undead, constructs and demons" ~says Asmund, and sips some of the tea
"I can guess where this is going. It seems like an obvious, slippery slope"
"Yes... it was pretty fast, too. My family... we discovered how to tap into very small constructs and undead in the city rather than buildings specially designed to do so. How to use them to..."
"To funnel mana away somewhere. Eldric brought one of your spider constructs and we figured it was sending mana somewhere, but I couldnt find out where"
"Yes... I actually... well, I'm sorry, I don't quite trust you enough to tell you that"
"Understandable, please proceed"
Dawn sits in Asmund's lap and places her head on his shoulder, gently nuzzling against his neck while he caresses her back
Sometimes to measure any change that their bodies may endure through the process, and sometimes out of sadistic joy, or to teach them a lesson. I sneaked into his lab, and saw my older brother in one of those crystal prisons. He and father had been arguing for years. He was meant to have left the city, but now I knew otherwise. He could not tell who I was, so I did the decent thing."
"Of course" ~says Okaba
"I made it seem like an accident, and later, studied the mana matrix, how it collected and stored mana. I told him that I could increase its reach by building "sub stations" elsewhere, and got his permission to leave. Currently, I am trying to store a big enough mana reserve that I can challenge him myself on the next tournament... I have a theory about the blue moon that... well, that's not really relevant to our conversation."
"So, you want to store enough mana to take him down and replace him as the ruler of your land. And then what?" ~asks Okaba
"And then... what do you mean?"
"What will you do then? it's quite a simple question"
"Well, I would begin by euthanizing his lab specimens, and from then forwards, anything would be better, right?"
"Irresponsible."
Nope. They never unlocked the noble class.
>>
>>35880229
"It's not about just your hate of daddy. You would be inheriting a nation, its citizens will depend on you. You MUST have plans beyond killing your father. What will you do about the mana storage? do you plan in offering its use to the people?"
"I hadn't thought about that"
"What about the enslaved monsters. Other than stopping your experiments on them, will you free them?"
"Well, they are inserted into our economy, and they are no worse off than other slaves..."
"I don't see you as much better than your father. In fact, in a few years, I expect you to just for curiosity's sake, try and see what would happen if you did breed with Dawn"
"You fucking dog!" ~Asmund says as he turns into a mass of darkness and leaps at Okaba's throat
Our friend sidesteps and Dragon's Forces Asmund to the face
Dawn hisses and readies to pounce, while Aura gets in between her and Okaba
A few moments pass by, and Asmund "respawns". He's an undead after all, so long as his whole side isin't wiped out, he will respawn after a few moments.
His side in this case was him and Dawn, of course
"Why, you-!?"
"Good, so you ARE passionated about things other than killing. I was worried you just wanted to kill daddy because he did things you didint like."
"You could have truly killed me!"
"I did kill you, but you are fine, aren't you? I had a resurrection scroll at hand in case my hypotesis was wrong, too."
"How is that any different from how my father works, killing people just to see what will happen!?"
"Ah, there you go. You had been saying "things" and "creatures" but you hadn't called them people, yet."
Where does this knowledge come from?
And even if true, has nothing to do with the fact that they HAVE been officially emancipated. the paperwork was filed. they are free.
I meant class. mom unlock the noble class from marrying dad.
it is unlocked if we pay the 2g to change them to it. It just didint automatically switch for free like some people wanted
Mom married dad and has it unlocked but shes still a villager
We had so much fun with Okaba and Aura, we forgot they aren't human. They are people, but how they think feels really alien right now.
"You will inherit a realm, you will have to manage it. You can either keep the status quo, or change things for better, or worse. It will be you who decides on things that will affect the lives of millions. You can't simply claim a throne because you don't like the person sitting on it at the time. You MUST.THINK.OF.THE.PEOPLE you will rule!"
"I dont give two copper pieces about the people. I want my sister to be able to walk the streets without a collar, and I want my father made into steam after I blast him!"
"Well, one of those things needs some social reforms before it can come true, you know?"
Okaba looks quite calm as he says so. He looks ...kingly
"Well, I am truly thankful for hearing your story. When you are ready to grow up and be the prince of your people, please allow me to be the first of your allies." ~says our friend as he sits back down~ "If you really feel the need to attack me, I have on my person the means to come back from it, so do feel free to indulge on it."
"Pfft, no, thanks. I'm not a child."
"Yet you are easily provoked"
"I'd answer you, but then I would be proving you right."
"If you truly want to succeed, you cannot allow yourself outbursts such as this again."
Oh but we do. Our businesses are long term thinking, making plans, seeing them through. Short term thinkers don't do well in business. Besides, I thought our plan was to get so much money off of our "inventions" that we could pretty much buy out a kingdom for ourselves or run it from behind the scenes.
wut
We literally expanded baking soda factories into Eopolis on a whim.
>>
>>35880775
>we could pretty much buy out a kingdom for ourselves or run it from behind the scenes.
And do what?
Where's the long-term plan for introducing baking soda to other nations? We had to wait to have merchants come to us to spread it to Eopolis and to the Black Isles, we had no plans or even the basic idea of expansion until that happened.
You're just as short-sighted as Asmund and refuse to see it.
"You got over it" ~Okaba smirks
"Very funny. Alright. Now, if you don't mind, I have a regicide to plan... and some thinking to do" ~says Asmund as he calms down Dawn, and prepares to leave
Part of the problem is that we really are 9 years old. We know what we want but are powerless politically to drive change unless it lands in our lap.
It likely will be different later.
I personally want to start getting information on how we can drive the social change needed to remove slavery but kinda hit that age thing and of course people want to do different things
seizing an opportunity is not on a whim.
we decided that it would work well, consuled both mom and okaba
and decided against selling the formula to the gnome trade alliance
thinking long term does not mean rigidity.
We also have plans for improving the lot of slaves, are intentionally courting the future royalty of several major nations (only one in a "marriage" sense, the rest as close friends and allies), have avoided going to orcs because it might have serious unintended consequences. have decided against introducing hard chemicals like bleach and chemical weapons like mustard gas because of the harm it would do, and have discussed taking over the world.
... ps. we should start carrying a resurrection scroll on us just in case.
There's the fact that we're in a place to be making life-long contacts, which we could be doing more of.
And even if we're only 9, we have access to people who could do things for us by proxy, such as our mom, Elli, or Brass.
We could even hire someone to be the public face of Lightbringer Enterprises and to enter into legally binding deals on our behalf.
Yes, I believe we should do that. I also think we should expand our knowledge of the world and how it works. I hope that happens more in the next shift.
From the feel of previous thread what we want in long term effects to the world is
1. End to slavery. Especially child slavery, breeding farms. Ideally end to all, but end to anything except criminal slavery would be about the lowest we would go. Even that would have specified limits
2. Expanded education. Especially to children.
3. Probably some sort of economic change to correct the distortions the world has due to dungeons and how the gods have things set up.
This is counting out the things we want for our character, just changes to the world. Number 1 is the biggest thing due to when Eldric met Zoe the first time and wanted to Dragonforce to the face that golden dwarf slave merchant.
>1. End to slavery. Especially child slavery, breeding farms. Ideally end to all, but end to anything except criminal slavery would be about the lowest we would go. Even that would have specified limits
Actually, there was a very strong support to keep criminal slavery.
>2. Expanded education. Especially to children.
Don't care. The only time this was even mentioned was when okaba suggested it to us.
>3. Probably some sort of economic change to correct the distortions the world has due to dungeons and how the gods have things set up.
wut. That isn't 'correcting distortions', that's imposing your will on something that works for other people just fine. Not on my to-do list at all.
We have no long term direction or plans. That is inherent to a quest character. We have a schizophrenic personality that varies based on who's voting at the moment.
