Carrying heavy objects down is much easier than carrying them up. Going up you have to fight gravity every step of the way, so going down obviously you'd have gravity doing all the work for you. You remember your physics teacher explained that as 'potential energy.'

Just one of many teachers who were full of shit.

With Nadine and May assisting you in bringing your hard earned treasure down to the store room of the ship you're now forced to most of the heavy lifting. In the case of moving down stairs that turns out to mean standing at the bottom, desperately trying to pace the descent of the chocolatey spoils and praying that the two girls don't lose their grips and make a reality of your new-found phobia of being crushed by overhanging treasure chests.

Each step of your descent sends a loud ka-thunk echoing through the kitchen area, your doom marching ever closer as your arms weaken under the pressure. Ka-thunk! Any moment now and they will have to scrape your flattened self from the floor. Ka-thunk! Your knees are already trembling. Urgh, why isn't Lisa here to help?

"That's just pathetic." Oh there she is.

"Need a little help with that, eh?" Three steps down the stairs and you're already battered. You try to cough out an answer but sadly find that you have to settle for a weak nod. Lisa quickly steps up to get a firm hold of the chest as she pushes you aside, regarding you only with a quick glance. "Why don't you go lie down, granny?"

You are the Loli Talker, aka Nee-chan, a specialist dealing in bringing unreasonable lolis to reason. Currently you are on a very peculiar job, having been hired for unclear reasons by some eccentric fat cat with more money than he knows what to do with to guide a ship across the Pacific from the United States to Japan aided only by a tiny crew of equally small girls. Most recently you braved the perilous Treasure Island and its traps, and you are currently being humiliated by your newest and involuntary recruit, as well as only other person on the boat to have seen even a day of puberty.

On one hand, you're dead on your feet here. On the other hand, can you really allow her to humiliate you like that in front of your girls?

>Just ignore it, go crash on your bed.

This is coming from the girl who you bested in a fight only a few hours ago. The girl who is completely dependent on you allowing her to stay on your ship after having been abandoned by her own crew. And worst of all, it's coming from a Canadian. That just won't stand.

You pull yourself up to the wall, leaning a hand against it to hide the fact you can barely even stand. "That's really no way to talk to your captain, you know." The answer comes out way more staggered than you'd hoped, but you have her attention. Can't back out now. "Am I going to have to punish my misbehaving girl?"

Lisa visibly cringes, the memory of your last punishment still fresh in her memory. You definitely could twist the knife, but it occurs to you that she might have simply been joking. You let go of your new friend Mr. Wall to exchange his support for that of Lisa's strong shoulder, leaning in close to whisper in her ear. "Thank you." She smiles nervously in response and you depart for the living area with your dignity intact.

Your bed happily greets your face as you freely plummet into its soft embrace, your aches already beginning to fade under its loving care. But you can't stay too long, you have captaining to do. Just a few minutes, that's all you'll need.

This pillow isn't actually soft, the mattress isn't actually giving you the support a good mattress should. But you don't know that. As far as you know, this is the best bed you've ever had, whispering its promises of endless bliss in your ears. And endless bliss is a good thing, why wouldn't you want that. The obnoxious noise from outside the room is quickly swallowed. You close your eyes, the only demand made of you. Bliss awaits.

Someone is shouting. Your eyes reluctantly submit to your order to open and you lift your head from the pillow. How long were you out? The other bunks are all still empty so it can't have been that long. Though someone did close the door behind you. The shouting appears to be coming from just outside, in the kitchen area. You're probably not going to sleep while that's going on. Wait, were you even meant to be sleeping?

Captaining. That's what you're supposed to do. You haven't even been a captain for an entire day yet, that's probably how you forgot. Honest mistake, right? Now that you're awake, you should probably go investigate that noise. It sounds like exactly the kind of problems you're supposed to be solving. So you should get up from the bed.

Get up from the bed. There you go, that's one leg. You'll need the other too. Okay, good. Now you're ready. Just walk over there and open the door now. One step, two steps, three steps. Grab the handle and pull. And that's how you open doors. Good job, you!

You find the kitchen area has become the scene of an intense stand-off between May and Camilla, May positioned in front of the door to the storeroom holding a broom in front of her as if it was a sword. Camilla is keeping a safe distance as they yell between each other. With your numbed senses you can't quite make out what they're saying, but just from the scene you have a few ideas what is going on here. The two girls do not appear to have noticed your presence yet.

>Shout over them, demand an explanation.
>Screw talking, if they start fighting May could seriously hurt Camilla with that stick. Grab that, then you can talk.
>You don't need to ask to know Camilla is the trouble maker here. Grab her hat and run, she'll have to chase you to get it back.
>Other ideas?

Too much noise. Can they even hear each other anymore or are they just shouting for the sake of shouting? Getting their attention wont' be easy. You take a deep breath to prepare yourself. And then you remember that you're dealing with children so you take a moment to remember words you can actually use here. Not a lot of them pop into your head. It'll have to do.

"BE QUIET!"

Well what do you know, they actually stopped. That usually doesn't work. Maybe it's the title? Both girls have now fixed their attentions entirely on you. That means you can hopefully get them to start talking instead of shouting. "What's going on here, then?"

The shouting resumes in the same manner, except this time they're competing for your attention. The sound is mostly the same. You catch a keyword through the noise however. Chocolate. It's about the chocolate. You did leave Nadine and May in charge of keeping everyone else away from the chocolate. Apparently Camilla is not entirely happy with that decision.

You could have predicted this would be a problem. In fact in your current state you're inclined to agree with Camilla, chocolate would be nice. But what kind of authority figure are you if you allow them to eat chocolate every time they get a little noisy about it?

>Tell May to unlock the stores, it's chocolate time. Again.
>Tell Camilla that you're the captain and she'll get chocolate only when you say so.
>Confiscate May's key and send them both away, then sneak in and grab some chocolate for yourself.
>Other?

>>
>>35876204
You're still not sure how long you were out, but you're pretty sure it's not time for chocolate yet. Not for their tiny bodies anyway. But you could definitely handle so- No, be a good example. That's important. No chocolate for any of you. It's probably just some crappy cheap chocolate anyway, those coins usually are. Kids don't really care after all. But you do. So that settles it, definitely no crappy chocolate for anyone.

With your senses now having mostly returned you're even more eager to end this shouting. You walk, much more steadily now, over to Camilla and place a hand over her mouth to effectively silence her. May is more easily handled with a single wave of your other hand. Aside from Camilla's muffled protests the room is now quiet so you can finally state your case.

"I'm the captain here. I decide when you can have chocolate. If you're good, you get chocolate. If you're not good... I can show you why I'm the captain. Do you need me to?" You release Camilla to let her speak.

"It's not fair! They have the key! They can eat as much as they want!"
"We haven't taken anything!"
"Liar!"
"Am not!"
"Is too!"

Urgh. You should have known it wouldn't be that easy. This isn't an ordinary crisis, it's a chocolate crisis.

>Take the key from May. You'll hold on to it from now on.
>Just give her some damn chocolate and end this.
>Steal her hat again to distract her from the issue.
>Use words again (write-in).
>Other solutions?
>>
>>35876692
>Tell her you will go in and check to see if anyone has eaten from it.
Now, obviously that won't work that great since it's hard to tell, SO let's enact the old 'falling paperclip/whatever' trick by putting something inconspicuous between the chest and lid that will fall off next time it's opened. Then confiscate one key and tell the other two they will share it and trade hands every morning, after you inspect the chest. Now we can see if anyone is stealing!
>>
>>35876692
Do we have a key?

>Ask May if she took any chocolate. Surely we can see if she is lying or not.
If she has: Take her key.
Else: Let her keep it, but remind her of her responsibilty.
>>
>>35876855
>Do we have a key?
Strangely, no! May has a key and Nadine has a key. They already had them when you arrived on the ship so you don't really know how they wound up having the keys or why Camilla is the only of them without one. It's almost as if someone had intentionally tried to spark conflict between them.
>>
>>35876692
>Put the key next to the chest. Surelky we can trust everyone to be agood girl and wait for their chocolate time? Otherwise we and Lisa would have to do the responsible thing and eat all of it.
>>
>>35876692
>>35876774

"May, give me your key."

"But I haven't ta-" You cut her off. "I believe you, but I'm going to check so everyone is happy. Now give me the key." May meekly obliges, pulling the key from her shirt pocket. Both girls are on your heels as you unlock the door and open up the chest to check if anything is missing.

You honestly can't really tell but they don't know any better so make a show of pretending to count the coins in your head while the two girls stare each other down. At least they're doing that quietly. After a few moments, long enough that they probably won't call you out on your bluff you announce that nothing is missing.

"Told you so!"

You're about to hand back the key, when an idea occurs to you. "I'm going to keep this key. May, you and Nadine share the other key and trade it every morning after I check if the chest. That way nobody can steal from the chest because I would know who took it! Sounds good, right?"

Disappointment washes over May's face at your proposal. "If you say so, captain Nee-chan. But I thought you trusted me..." She turns and leaves the room with her head hanging low. Camilla merely shrugs before departing as well. "So nobody gets any chocolate? How boring."

Well, at least they stopped fighting?

They left you completely alone here. You find your hand already reaching out for the chocolate when you remember that it's probably terrible. And something about trust and reliability. Mostly you're pretty sure you don't actually want any of that cheap crap. You lock up the store behind you and head back up to the deck. You really should be heading to the bridge, find out where you're going and do captaining things. Immediately up the stairs you find May having set about swabbing the decks with an absolutely miserable frown on her face.

You stop.

You didn't mean to stop, but you just can't ignore her. You were just trying to be fair, you didn't think you'd end up hurting her. You don't even think about how to approach the situation, instincts taking control. In one quick move you reach down and pick her off the ground with both arms, clutching her tightly against your chest like an oversized plushie.

"Waaa! Captain, what are you-" You shush at her. You hold her there for a few moments, waiting for her to finally relax before putting her back down where she stares back at you in confusion.

"I have to be fair, May."

"Huh?"

"It's not that I don't trust you. But I have to be fair to everybody or the others will feel bad. Like Camilla did. And I want all of you to be happy. Do you understand?"

She looks down as she carefully contemplates your words, then nods slightly. "I guess..."

She's still not smiling. You want to see a smile. "And hey, you get to hold the key tomorrow, right? So you can prove to everyone that you can take care of it. You can do that for me, right?"

Her eyes light up again at the promise of a chance to be a good girl and she grins widely to you. "Of course, captain Nee-chan!"

There, that's the smile you were looking for. After a quick pat on her head you feel much better, so now you can head on over to the bridge.

Footsteps, rapid footsteps. You quickly turn your head to the source in time to see Lisa rushing past you and down the stairs, violently blushing and with both arms pressed against her chest. Yep, that's definitely your business right there. Why wouldn't it be? You leave May to her swabbing and head back down again. The door to the living area is shut as you thought, so you give it a quick knock and call out to Lisa to ask if she's okay. A loud unrecognizable thump sounds from within, followed by her response.

"I'm fine! Just leave me alone!" Frustration is ringing clearly through her voice.

This door doesn't have a lock, so definitely not the best place to look for privacy. You could just barge in if you wanted to.

>She definitely needs you in there, even if she says otherwise. Yep. Head inside.

"Nobody is with me." You assure her. "And I can keep a secret! I just want to help!" Though honestly curiosity is a huge part of your motivation here, but you do want to help. The response doesn't seem any more enthusiastic, though.

"Christ, I don't NEED your help! So just go away already!" The frustration seems to have turned into annoyance now. Maybe she really doesn't need you. Or maybe she needs you even more than you thought! You try again.

"We're friends, right? You can trust me with anything! So can I come in? As a friend?"

An excruciatingly long moment of silence follows this. Finally as you were just about to call out, she responds. "Alright, fine, come in."

You slip through the door and quickly shut it behind you. Inside, Lisa is sat on her bunk with her top off, an open bra and a mess of cotton balls strewn across the bed beside her. "Wait, that's all, you stuff your bra? Lots of girls do that!" Though she does appear to be really flat. She shakes her head weakly. "Sit down."

You don't know why she's making such a big deal out of this, it's not like that's anything to be ashamed of. But she did let you in here, so you should at least do as she asks. She looks straight into your eyes, an uncertain look you haven't seen from the usually confident girl. "You can't tell anyone." You nod in affirmation.

Lisa gulps down, then raises her chin to give you a full view of her neck. Why would she show you her n- Oh.

So Lisa is a... You don't know how to feel about that. At all. It's not like you've never seen one before, but that was on the internet! This is real and right in front of you. It's kind of cute, but in a really weird way. But more than that... It's lying. Lisa lied to you, and to the other, and probably to all those girls on the other ship.

"I don't expect you to understand but... but you said we're friends. We're still friends, right?"

You don't answer. It's just too much, lying to everyone like that, pretending to be something you're not. Sure, you lie sometimes too, but not about something this big! Well, that's not true when you think about it. Your secret is probably way worse. But still, you're not sure if you can just forgive that!

"Aren't we?" Lisa is looking nervously around the room now, looking anywhere except at you.

"Why do you pretend to be a girl?"

"It's nothing horrible! It's just, if a guy hangs around children people will think that you're a... you know. So this solves that!" Lisa finally finds the way back to your face, looking desperately at you for an answer. "Are.. you okay with that? Are we still friends?"

>No. No you're not friends.
>Yes. You're still friends, but you have some questions (write your questions if you choose this!)
>You're still friends. In fact, since Lisa shared "her" secret, maybe you should share yours too?

What's our secret?

It's a secret.

What's with the pirate schtick if Lisa didn't want to attract undue attention?

Well that's not fair, now I have to vote for it.

How did she get her crew?

Maybe it's not such a terrible thing? She does have a point about the guys and kids thing. But that just raises more questions in your mind. "Why do you THIS? Why the whole pirate thing?"

She tilts her head in confusion. "What, have you never wanted to go on pirate adventures? It's fun, that's why!"

You're not sure what answer you were expecting. At least it's mostly harmless. "How did you get your crew?"

You don't quite manage to hide the suspicion from your voice and Lisa definitely caught on to it. "Hey, I'm not a kidnapper or anything! You know how it works, you're in the business too, aren't you? I met them on the job of course! They weren't happy, so I took them on an adventure. They loved the idea, we had lots of fun! There's nothing wrong with that, it's perfectly safe here. It was all great! But I guess it got to my head a little, all the power you know? I got a little mean, and then they... well, you know what they did."

A silence settles on the room as you consider that answer. You're not sure where the line between right and wrong is here. You're pretty sure your own crew can't really volunteer either. Did their parents give permission for this adventure? Did they hire out their own children to some rich guy? You don't know. But they're happy with this, and that's all you can do isn't it?

Lisa finally breaks you away from your train of thought. "So... are we friends?"

You nod. "Yeah. Yeah we're still friends. In fact, since you shared your secret..."

As if on cue, your world starts flashing in a bright pink, twisting everywhere around you. Lisa doesn't see anything except your hands gripping the bed to steady yourself. You're used to that by now, nobody sees it. Andrea knows, but she can't see it. Only you. The distortions used to only appear every few weeks, but the last one was just a few days ago at Nina's school. It's definitely almost time. A few moments past and the world settles back into its natural shape and color.

"I'll tell you my secret too."

And with that I'll end the thread. I honestly hoped to get more done, but I've been really slow as I try to get back into this whole thing and I'm really tired too. Sorry for making the thread so short, I really appreciate you staying with me through this!

I have absolutely no idea when I'll run next. An unfortunate consequence of my current situation. I will try not to keep you guys waiting quite as long this time, though. Especially since we're so close to the end!

Again, sorry for shortness, you guys deserve better and I'll do my best to deliver next time. I'll still be around for a while for questions or discussion if you have any. Though I may fall asleep very suddenly!

I'll try to not hate you too much for the trap thing. ugh.

>I'll try to not hate you too much for the trap thing. ugh.

Much appreciated, anon!

Honestly, I almost did decide to just skip the reveal completely and never have it happen, despite my weak attempts at foreshadowing. I don't really think it's detracting from my intended tone, it's not that. Since I originally built the MC to be hiding her own nature, I just saw this as a more literal case of that. What I was worried about is bringing in gender issues and similar where they most definitely don't belong. Because those discussions never go well. And of course I also feared that you might reject the character for it.

In the end my curiosity won out and I just had to see how you guys would react to it. It was a risk, but I feel it supports what I consider to be the most important theme of the quest aside from cute girls.

I suppose it could also come off as fetish shit, but I don't really worry about that. I mean Loli is literally in the title of the quest but I certainly don't hope any of you think I'm into that either.

So yeah, sorry if the decision bothers you. It's definitely done now though, and I'm not really sure if I regret it or not.

Don't worry about it, I just have a deep and unreasonable hatred for traps, it doesn't seem like anyone else is too bothered by it, and I can contain my dislike for them since what I hate about them won't be a issue here in the first place.

Okay! I'll just consider myself forgiven then. Yay me!
