> PREVIOUSLY ON MAGICAL GREEN LANTERN: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Magical+Green+Lantern

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2y8A7ttvGiI

Everything has not been how you would have liked it. Your mentor and new father figure has turned out to be the kind of person you despise most, you were just killed recently by a scourge brought about the Guardian’s incompetence, and now you’re imprisoned in this yellow cage like a songbird. You hug your legs, and curl yourself tightly.

You need to stop crying! But you can’t stop crying!

Madam Katma Tui sits in the cage next to you, chained to the ground by her thigh. “It’s fine, just let it all out.”

“I’m not crying!” you shakily yell at her. She simply stares at you, sadly. “Stop looking at me! Arrêtez!” you scream. All the prisoners turn their eyes away, trying not to pay attention. “Green Lanterns do not cry. That is what he told me,” you mutter to yourself. “Green Lanterns do not cry. Green Lanterns do not cry…” you repeat that to yourself again and again, rocking yourself back and forth. You need to relax. Just relax.

Madam Tui crawls up to her cage bars, then grabs hold of them and looks at you. “Listen, child. You have to get a hold of yourself. You’re our best bet at getting out of here. If we can get ourselves free, then we can help you grab Sinestro and take him to justice. What do you say?”

“Casse-toi, Madam Tui.” You shift your body, turning away from her. “I’m done. I can’t. I won’t! Just when I thought I found a father to be proud of… he does this to me. Just go away, leave me alone.” You bury your head in your arms, drenching them with your tears. “I can’t do it.”

“Green Lantern. You’re a peacekeeper. I’ve heard stories about other Lanterns, how they make safe their sectors, how they keep order on worlds apart.” Madam Tui just won’t leave you alone. “You are braver than you think you are. You just have to show it.” She’s quiet for a second. “For goodness sakes. Please, you have to try.”

“Other Lanterns are coming,” you say. “They’ll free us. They’ll take him down without me.”

Another Korugan says, “So what?! You’re just going to let us rot here until they come? How do we even know they’re coming?”

“Yeah!” A third Korugan joins in. “You can’t just let us stay here! Who knows how long it’ll be.”

Madam Tui quietens them. “Guys, please.” She goes back to you. “Green Lantern, come on. At least me know how you feel about this.”

You don’t know how you feel.

You cross your arms, standing up. “Madam Tui. I am hurt. So hurt right now. Sinestro was like a father to me. He was a better father to me than my own father was! Sure, he was harsh at times, but all fathers are! This… I can’t believe he would come to this!” You grab one of the bars of your cage. “I can’t begin to describe how betrayed I feel!”

Madam Tui nods. “Green Lantern-“

“And what’s more…” You grip the bar tight. “I can’t begin to describe how angry I am! How furious he has made me!” You let go and punch the bar. The pain barely registers through your knuckles. “His deceit!“ You punch the bar again, bending it outwards. “His treachery!” You punch the bar again, the gonging ringing through the basement. “His lies!” You smash the bar open.

“Everything was a lie!” You cry. “All of it!” You punch another bar out. You can feel blood pool in your gloves. “All of it…” You wipe the tears from your eyes, then you realize something.

You just punched your way out of your cage. You quickly scan the composition of the metal with your ring.

> 95% GOLD, 5% VARIOUS METALS

Huh, who knew gold was that soft?

The other Korugans stand up, surprised. “Hey, you’re free!” says one of them. “Quick, let us out of here!” They all start shouting at you, ringing their bars with tin cups, getting your attention. The only who isn’t is Madam Tui, who just looks at you, as if she were afraid of you.

Yellow as another said for fear of betrayal. We trusted him... perhaps everyone else is just waiting for their chance to stab Lumi in the back. Save for Mogo he seems legit.

Yellow Lantern is actually the ability to project or cause fear in others. There is an obvious weak point in this.

> Alright, let’s get out of here together.

You slice their chains, and their cages to pieces. Madam Tui’s chain is cleaved in two by a slice of your willpower energy. All the Korugans pat your shoulder, thanking you eagerly as they pass on and grab cut rods, chains, and other makeshift weapons for a breakout. Madam Tui walks up to you. “Are you okay, Green Lantern?”

“Never better,” you say. You shake your head. You’re seeing red now, but you have to keep it contained. Don’t let it explode out. “I hope I will not regret freeing you.”

Madam Tui crosses her arms, narrowing her eyes. “I was a leader of the Korugan Resistance against Thaal Sinestro’s rule. The other Korugans here are members of our Resistance, leaders, soldiers, the important ones. We all fight against him as you do now.” You look away at the word “fight”. Madam Tui places her hand on your shoulder. “We only wish to see him brought to justice. And I wish to see the legacy of the Green Lanterns restored. We must work together.”

You nod. “Fine then.” You and her lead the Korugans up the stairs out of the basement. You bust down the door and look around. You’re in a very discrete hallway, nothing too suspicious about it. Madam Tui and another Korugan stand behind you, keeping watch.

“Alright, we will follow your lead, Green Lantern,” she says.

“We find Sinestro, we end this now. Now come on!” They all cheer and shout, following you Madam Tui through the hallways. Sinestro is bound to know you’re gone by now, but hopefully you’ll come meet him face to face.

You bust down another ornate door, finding yourself in another hallway. This great big mansion of his is only a greater show of his hubris! Why, if there weren’t innocent people in here right now right behind you, you’d be tearing this place to pieces!

Out of the walls comes a row of robotic servants. They brandish great big stunprods. “HALT IN THE NAME OF THE LORD SINESTRO’S LAWS,” they shout. One of the Korugans responds with a vase to the face, shattering them both completely. They rush forward, as do the Korugans. You slice and blast robots to pieces, stepping out of the melee with Madam Katma Tui.

“Where could Sinestro be?” asks Madam Tui.

You probably know where.

-

-

You and her bust down the door to your bedroom. Sinestro is there on the balcony, his hands gripping the rail. You brandish your ring at him. “It’s over, Sinestro!” you yell. “I am going to take you down and make you pay for your crimes?”

Sinestro looks back, quirking his brow. “Crimes? I have done nothing wrong. The only crime here is that you blatantly disobeyed me.” He turns his whole body around, throwing off the mighty cape, another sign of his arrogance. “A shame, I trusted you, Lumiere. And now it’s come to this.” He brings up his ring.

Madam Tui steps in front of you, surprising you. “If you think you’re going to kill a little girl while I’m here, think again.”

Sinestro smirks. “The Green Lantern Corps doesn’t allow me to kill. A shame.” A great green claw shoots out from his ring. Before Madam Tui can dodge, she is grabbed by the leg and smashed against the wall. She slides down, unconscious. “I’ll just have to make you suffer instead.”

> CRITICAL SUCCESS: WILL

A great big axe falls down on Sinestro’s head. He slides out of the way, just in time for it to split the floor. You have summoned forth the champion of the Geats, the hero of Hrothgar! Born in epic ancient legend, and more of a hero than Sinestro could ever be. Beowulf! Your eyes glow green, flashing from your mask like great lighthouses. You scream, and Beowulf howls like the warrior he is in return.

Sinestro draws two green swords and charges at Beowulf. The two engage in combat, Beowulf having size and reach, while Sinestro having speed and maneuverability. Every sharp cut that Beowulf feels, you feel, but it doesn’t matter. You grit your teeth, powering Beowulf through.

Then finally Beowulf grabs Sinestro’s arm and throws him down on the bed. Instead of a light pomf, it was more of a dramatic crash, splitting it in half. Sinestro groans as Beowulf stands over him.

“It’s over!” you scream at him. “Sinestro, give it up!”

He turns his head up at you. His features start hardening into an intense glare. “Never!” he blasts you backwards, shattering Beowulf and sending you through a hallway and into another bedroom. Your back smashes into the wall, blackening your vision.

Sinestro stands up, holding his arm, injured. “Lumiere…” The dust and smoke settles down, blocking his view of you.

[1/2]
>>
>>35896693
[2/2]

You burst out of the fog, tackling him down to the floor. You clasp your hands together in one great big fist, then smash it down on his face. You punch him again, cutting his cheek. And again, knocking out a tooth. You cry, screaming and wailing as you punch him again and again. “I trusted you!” you cry. “I loved you! You liar!” You beat his face to a pulp.

You feel a hand on your shoulder. You turn around.

Then you see Professeur Sinestro, looking down on you like the stern father he used to be. You glance at your ring, seeing it project that image.

Madam Tui awakens, trying to stand up. “Green Lantern…”

You look down at Sinestro, who groans and croaks in pain. His face is barely recognizable anymore. You look at your hands. Your gloves have been cut, and are bleeding.

Professeur Sinestro says, “No more.”

“Green Lantern?” Madam Tui looks at you.

You take Sinestro’s ring hand. You press your forehead against his hand, crying, sobbing even.

Green Lanterns don’t cry. You need to stop crying.

You stand by the side on Oa in the Guardian’s Citadel. Green Lanterns from all over have been shocked by the news of Sinestro and his abuse of power. Chaselon and Tomar-Re stand next to you, solemn.

“Katma Tui, and Soranik Natu. Step forward.” The two Korugan women step forward into the sight of the Guardians. The rings have already chosen them as worthy replacements for Sinestro, Sinestro’s own ring going to Katma Tui. The Guardians announce: “The Green Lantern Corps welcomes you two as its newest members. This is an unorthodox introduction, so we apologize if we have caused any inconvenience. As replacements for the Sector 1417, you are to bring the light of justice over the darkness of this universe. You will be called upon to serve above and beyond, and more. You are what stands between the universe, and total chaos. Stand proud, for this is the highest of honors, and the highest of burdens.”

You all applause, you do as well, as enthusiastically as you can muster. It’s only a few pats however. Katma Tui and Soranik Natu bow. Madam Tui says, “On Korugar, the symbol of the Green Lantern has been tarnished. No longer is it known as a symbol of peace and liberty, but of oppression and harshness. Myself and Soranik Natu will do our best to restore the legacy of the Green Lanterns on Korugar, and across Sector 1417, and across the Universe. We will never back down from this duty you have bestowed on us.”

Applause again.

“Then go forth, Kilowog is training the newest members. You will need all you can get,” says a Guardian. The meeting disperses, allowing you all to leave.

Sinestro’s trial before the Guardians begins soon. Perhaps a visit is in order.

Chaselon floats up next to you, twiddling his tentacles. “Hello, Green Lantern Berger. Would you like to partake in refreshments and perhaps casual communication?”

You sigh. “Fine, Chaselon.” Chaselon happily leads you on to the Mess Hall. Maybe some alien cuisines will help you think and get through this.

-

-

Alien cuisines did not help you think and get through this. Now you feel sad, angry, and sick. You spit out a green… thing that used to be some sort of alien lifeform. Oh how you wish you had some strudel or perhaps orange juice. The mess hall is filled with new Green Lantern recruits, all discussing Sinestro in hushed tones and whispers. Some even glance towards you, knowing you used to be his student.

Chaselon sits across from you on the table, sipping on a beverage through a straw into his crystalline structure. “Green Lantern Berger, are you feeling okay?” You shake your head. “If it helps, I forgive you for pulling me into the Blue Lantern Heist, and I cannot imagine how painful it must be now for how Sinestro betrayed you like that.” He sips further on his straw.

You sigh. “Chaselon, at least you are not looking at me as if I am a ticking time bomb.” You cross your arms, crossing your legs as well. “Merci beaucoup. Honestly.”

“What will you do now?” he asks.

“I was hoping to visit him while he was in prison,” you say. “Perhaps find out why he would do such a thing.” You also hold onto the faint hope that this was all a misunderstanding. Perhaps you can even redeem him. Just that thin glimmer of hope.

Clarissa Savage shows up, slapping your shoulder. “Forget about it, hot stuff.” She sits down next to you, chewing on a glowing blue fruit as if it were an apple. “People like him don’t change. You should just stuff it and let him rot.”

“Now Green Lantern Savage!” Chaselon hovers up a few inches in defiance. “Gree- Er, Sinestro has been Green Lantern Berger’s friend for such a time, it is understandable she would want to visit him.”

Clarissa shrugs, indifferent. “Hey, bad guys are bad guys, what difference does it make?”

You plant your fist into your palm. “You’re right, Chaselon. I do want to visit him, to at least talk to him one last time before he is sentenced.” You stand up, sliding your tray of uneaten food over to Clarissa. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I must go.”

Clarissa nods. “Yeah, yeah, good luck, sweet cheeks.” She makes a pinching motion with her fingers, eyes downwards at your you-know-what. You roll your eyes, then pat Chaselon on the head. He twiddles his tentacles, nervously.

“Thank you, Chaselon.” You give him a kiss to his crystalline structure, to which he immediately starts glowing red on the inside. You start walking away.

The Guards give way, allowing you to visit Sinestro in his high security cell. You step forward to see him behind a glass wall, surrounded by yellow metal walls. Even his cuffs are yellow. His ring has not been taken away, but it has been sealed with a yellow bolt, keeping it from being useful. For now, the only thing he has access to is his protective aura, and his translation. He can’t even fly.

Sinestro sits on his cot, then looks up at you, neutral. “Hello, Lumière Berger. Come to gloat?’

You press your hands against the glass, glaring at him. “Why?”

He sighs. “I assume you know. Because I want order. I trust no one else but myself, and maybe even you to understand that.”

You say, “A wise man, an American by the name of Theodore Roosevelt once said that ‘Order without liberty and liberty without order are equally destructive.’ We have a man on my planet, by the name of Adolf Hitler. He’s just like you. He takes liberty away in the name of order, in the name of progress. The only thing that separates you from him is that you don’t discriminate.”

“Of course not,” says Sinestro. He crosses his arms, dismissive. “Why discriminate, everyone should be equal under the law.”

“Do not-!” You catch yourself yelling, then calm down. “Do not sidetrack this, Sinestro. You were the best of us. You abused your power. You… you betrayed me.”

Sinestro is quiet for a moment, then says, “You know they mean to send me to the Antimatter universe?” You blink, confused. “It is the maximum punishment for my charges. The trial that is to come is simply a formality.”

You glare at him. “So what, you want to help me free you?”

He shakes his head. “No. I will let you mull over it. You will understand that everything I do, it is in the name of a peaceful universe. Those blue midgets that call themselves Guardians of the Universe are nothing more than senile old coots. I know you are smarter than that, Lumière.”

It did not have to be like this, If he had just a little bit of faith in his fellow man(or alien equivalent) things could have been very different.

his ideals are commendable but his method was wrong.

I don't feel like he should be banished, he'll have enough shit to deal with when they take away his power. It would also just be another thing the guardians tried to put away and pretend it didn't happen.

“That’s right, walk away. You will see. I will be another problem for the Guardians to sweep under the rug and drown out like Legion! I will be back! You will see!” he yells. “I will be vindicated! I’ll be back!”

You hope not. The door slide shut behind you.

You sit on the edge of a platform on Oa. Kilowog is busy drilling new recruits on the mechanics of flying nearby, and you read a book to his screams and cries of incompetence to them. It’s nice background noise you suppose but you would prefer the accordion or a good violin tune.

Oh, Sinestro. If he were here right now, he would probably be discussing this book with you. Or just slap it out of your hands and drill you. That would probably be the latter.

You miss him already.

“Ice cream?” You blink, then look over to see Clarissa sitting next to you, her stockings on her curvy legs glowing by the stripes and licking a cone of strange looking ice cream. She holds a cone over to with you what appears to be a dark blue goop scooped into it. A worm pops out of it, squealing. She grins, cooing, “It’s Xlorian Fruit flavored~…”

You carefully take it. “Merci, Clarissa.” She smiles, continuing to lick her exotic ice cream. You look down at yours. It can’t hurt to try can it? You take an experimental lick-

OKAY OKAY THAT UGH SPICY

You cover your mouth. She looks to you, curious. You smile, giving her a thumbs up, to which she gives a thumbs up in return, then returns to licking her ice cream. You quickly toss the ice cream over the side, leaving only the cone. “So, Clarissa, how are things back on Earth?”

She shrugs. “Doing good. I told that little gusty redhead of yours that you were fine along with the Justice League.”

“Justice Society.”

“Yeah, those guys.” She nods. “Other than that, things have been quiet. We can’t interfere much in the politics of Hitler unfortunately, something about a Spear of Destiny or something. I don’t understand it. But anyway…” She takes another lick of her ice cream. “That’s some real stuff you got going with Sinestro there.”

“I would not like to talk about it right now,” you say, returning to your book.

“Hm.” She takes a huge bite out of the ice cream, then shoves the entire cone in her mouth. The crunching and the biting, ugh… where are her manners? She stands up, licking her fingers and wiping some stray droplets of ice cream off her chest. Damn her chest, damn it. “Well, okay then. How about we wrestle then?”

You narrow your eyes, looking up at her. “Excusez-moi?”

“Come on, me and my brother would always wrestle together to relax!” she says! She brings up her fists in a boxing stance, bouncing place to place. “Come on, put up your dukes, you know you want to!”

You roll your eyes, standing up and placing your book down. “Is this some strange way to make me feel better, Clarissa?”

She shrugs. “If you want to call it strange.” She raises her fists, grinning. “Come on! Show me your moves!”

You punch her once in the face, flooring her. “Ugh…” She lies there, dazed. Ha, one punch! She goes down after one punch! You can’t help but laugh. “Hey, I said wrestle, not box,” she whines.

“Haha!” You grab Clarissa by the shoulders and stand her up. “I am sorry, Clarissa. I could not resist.”

Clarissa puffs her cheeks out, playfully glaring at you. “Tell you what, I’ll bring you down with one punch, and you will never see it coming.” You immediately see her next punch coming, and handily block it with the palm of your hand. “Damn it!” She recoils, folding her arms in a huff. “How do you do that?”

“Sinestro taught me to hone my reflexes,” you say. It’s not exactly something you want to say but there it is. Your ring beeps however, as does Clarissa’s. Trouble. You bring it up. “Green Lanterns of 2814, what is your emergency?”

“Green Lantern Berger. We have detected a new Red Lantern in Sector 2814, Sol 3. Your home planet. Apprehend her if practicable,” says the Guardian. “She is relatively new to the Red Ring, but do not underestimate her ability.”

Clarissa grins. “We’ll get to it!” The ring stops glowing, indicating a cessation in communications. “Alright, honeybuns, follow my lead!”

You fly over North Africa, the sands and deserts familiar to you, still being a colony native to France after all. Clarissa says, “The tracker ends here. The Red Lantern should be in this country!”

You nod, looking out over North Africa. “Gee, Clarissa. She is somewhere in North Africa, that narrows it down.” She looks at you, obviously biting at the venom in your tone. “Anyway, let’s find a nearby town, see if we can find anything.” She nods, following your lead down the coast. “And next time, Clarissa, you are to follow my lead! I am your senior! I was Green Lantern first!”

She huffs. “Kilowog says I’m better.”

“Kilowog thinks everyone is better,” you mutter. He’s not wrong, but you’d wish he’d stop saying that. You look down to see a coastal city. If you’re right, you’re flying over what used to be French North Africa, Algiers to be precise. Now, most of it is under control of Vichy France, the collaborator government. You sigh, then tilt down and start flying towards it.

You and Clarissa land in a square, surprising a few locals. “Now, now,” says Clarissa. “Don’t panic, we’re not here to-“

A squad of French soldiers come out of the woodwork and aim their rifles at you. «Put down your weapons!» Oh jeez. You and Clarissa bring up your rings, ready for a fight.

« Stop! Stop! » You hear someone come up the street. You and Clarissa look over to him. « What is going on!? What is the meaning of this disturbance in my city!? »

Your eyes widen as you see who it is. A man with a heavy beard, brown eyes, neatly cut hair. He looks like an official for Vichy France, but you could care less about that. He looks at you, then his eyes widen.

Papa walks up to you, in disbelief. “What are you doing? What-“ He lifts up your skirt a bit. “What are you wearing!?”

You slap his hand away. “Papa! You are embarrassing me!” you squeak at him. “How did you-!?”

“You really thought you could get away with disguising yourself in front of me?” he says, shocked. “I raised you, taught you how to walk, changed your underwear, I bathed you for God’s sake! You thought I wouldn’t recognize you because I couldn’t see your nose and your cheekbones!?”

“Papa!” You slap him on the face. “You- I don’t even!” He grabs your wrists and starts pulling on you. “Wait, what are you-!? PAPA!” you whine.

“We have something to discuss,” he says. He looks over to Clarissa. “You might as well come too.” Clarissa shrugs, walking after you both as he drags you away.

“So why did you run?” you ask.

He sits at his desk, in a little air-conditioned office in the City Hall. Clarissa and you sit down across from him in very uncomfortable wooden chairs. Around you see filing cabinets askew, papers strewn about, and on his desk you see a photo of you and him, happier times. And you also see a photo of your mother as well. He looks at you, looking almost sixty instead of fourty.

“I was scared,” he says. “I did not want to die, not there on the battlefield.”

You huff. “I wish you would have.” You look away, crossing your arms while Clarissa sits there, awkwardly. Papa simply leans back in his seat, looking at you. “Papa, I have had a very bad few days this past week. This is not something I need.”

Papa nods. “Of course. So why are you here?”

“We are tracking someone called the Red Lantern, he or she is here somewhere. We don’t know where.”

Papa grunts. “I will have the troops on alert then.”

“Not hunting for Jews?”

He rolls his eyes. “There are no Jews here in Algeria, that is what I told the Nazis and what I believe personally. I am simply overseeing operations here.”

Clarissa raises her hand. “Can I leave?” You both nod at her, to which she quickly stands up and goes.

Papa pulls out a cigarette, then begins lighting up. “Lumi, you might as well go too. I won’t try to justify anything. Not to you, heaven forbid, you do not need a coward for a father. I have done some things I am just not proud of.”

Hey, Lumi, what if you're in the wrong here? What if your Papa and Sinestro are both right? The Green Lanterns don't do much, and there's only one guardian that seems to care. Maybe Will isn't the way to prevent crime and protect people. I mean, both Papa and Sinestro can't be wrong, right?

You should go back and free him.

You stand up. “You are not my father. And if Mama could see you now…” You shake your head. “She would never love a man like you.” Papa simply stares at you, sadly. You shake your head, stomping out of his office.

You meet up with Clarissa outside in the hall and start walking. “Hey, sweetcheeks!” She walks next to you, concernedly. “What was all that about?”

“Nothing,” you say.

“Sure didn’t look like nothing.” She crosses her arms. “Come on, you can tell me.”

You sigh. “My father was the command of a tank. When the Germans arrived, they arrived in force. He fled, leaving his crew to die. He never came back for me.” Clarissa’s concerned look drops into one of shock. “And now he’s working for the Nazis. Cowardice is one thing, but this is…” You sigh, rubbing your forehead. “This is terrible.”

“Wow. And I thought my great-grandpa fighting for the Union was bad,” says Clarissa. You glare at her. “Just saying.” You both end up outside city hall. “So, what’s the plan, honeybunch?”

“We’ll patrol the area together.” You cross your arms, sighing. “I’ll let you lead this time.” Clarissa smiles, patting you on the cheek, then blasting off into the sky. You roll your eyes and follow on after her.

You pull a fly over of the city. Nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. Clarissa flies alongside you. “Hey, hotbuns.” You look at her. “Just saying, if you need someone to talk to. I’m usually available. I know Daddy issues can be pretty tough so uh…” She shrugs. “Yeah. We’re working together in the same office here, we might as well try to be friends.”

“I would love to, Clarissa,” you say. “But right now, we have a duty to the Guardians. Right now we have a rogue Red Lantern on the loose and if we stray, we will fail. So keep alert.” Clarissa nods, looking ahead with a giant pair of constructed binoculars.

“Hey!” Clarissa stops, as do you. “I see something coming up!” You summon up a giant telescope as well, to see what she’s aiming at.

Sure enough, it appears to be a red light rushing across the Mediterranean. That must be your Red Lantern. You can’t make out who it is now, but you’re sure to get into close combat with her soon.

> Meet her head on

You and Clarissa drop down in front of his path. Clarissa pulls up a great big green megaphone the size of a car. “ATTENTION RED LANTERN! STOP IN THE NAME OF THE LAW!” she shouts across to him.

You observe through your giant telescope. He does not appear to be stopping.

Wait. Long red hair… It’s not Red Tornado, but it’s a girl!

“WE’RE WARNING YOU! STOP IN THE NAME OF-“ She is interrupted by a long chain smacking her out of the way. Oh jeez. You drop your telescope, only for another chain to smack square in the gut and knock you backwards. You smack into the side of a building and fall into a dumpster.

At least your landing was soft!

She flies up onto the spire of a belltower. You can see her more clearly now. She is a young girl, much like your age, wearing a red dress adorned with black plates of armor. Her red hair flows like embers in a fire. On her breastplate is the Red Lantern emblem. Her arms are adorned with heavy leather gloves which bear red lines upon them, and her legs are covered by black stockings and heavy boots. She smashes a red lance into the side of the building as people scatter in fear of her. “Where is Berger!?” she screams. “Where is Berger!? Come out you coward!”

Well, she’s about to find one Berger. You quickly hover down in front of her, catching her notice. Clarissa as well comes in next to you, ready. “In the name of the Green Lantern Corps, surrender!” you say.

She grabs her construct lance and spins it her hand, ready to strike. “Never!”

> CRITICAL FAILURE: WILL

You and Clarissa band your willpower together to form a giant net to trap her in. The Red Lantern jumps and tears it in two. She smacks Clara out of the way then whacks you in the head with her lance, dazing you. She grabs you by the breastplate then raises you high over her head. “My name is Cherry Brigantina! And you will not stand in the way of my revenge!”

To this end, she projects a window right above where she’s floating. She flies up, then throws you through the red glass. You fall down to the ground, and bring your arms up and let them absorb the shards. You yelp in pain as each shard slashes or embeds into your arms, and burns like a hornet sting.

Cherry drops down next to you, spinning her lance up again, ready to deliver the coup de grace.

“Nope!” Clarissa smacks her with a projection of a baseball bat. Cherry goes flying right into a building. She looks down at you. “Lumi! Go get your father out of here!”

You up yourself to a kneel. “But-“

“Lives are at stake, I don’t care if your father is a scumbag! Get him out of here!” She blasts off again into the building.

No, you will not go back to your so-called father. You leap after Clarissa. You find Clarissa, standing in the aisle of a Church. Oh god, you are in a Church! You can’t fight here! Clarissa looks back at you, then yells, “I thought I told you to go find your Dad!”

“We have a better chance of beating her if we work together,” you say quickly, justifying it. Clarissa glares at you, obviously displeased. “Where is she?”

“Dunno, it’s like she’s hiding from us.” Clarissa and you pull your rings out and start scanning the area, stepping through the aisle. Oh, you dread having to fight in a house of God. “You see her?”

“No,” you say. You blink, then look up. And there she is, in the rafters. She leaps down and tackles Clara to the ground before you can yell. Cherry twirls her lance and smacks you into a window, cracking and breaking the stained glass.

Okay, that is not respectful.

You project an Eiffel tower the size of a truck then throw it at her in a powerful punch. Cherry charges at you, projecting a broader and sharper head to her lance, then slicing the tower in half. She slashes and dices you, dazing you and smacking you across the Church.

You slam into a few pews, recovering. “Don’t you know we fight in a house of God!?” you scream at her.

“God can wait! Berger took my family from me, I will take his life! It’s only fair!” She slices another pew to pieces in rage. Clara stands up, trying to attack her with a baseball, only for Cherry to grab her by the neck. “I have had home, family, and life taken from me! Nothing else matters!”

You project another construct above her. The Arch de Triumph to be precise, then drop it down on her. She immediately throws Clara at it, smashing the construct to bits and tossing Clara through the ceiling. “I am going to kill him!” yells Cherry. “And I will kill you if you keep standing in my way!” She punches at you, a chain flying from her ring right at you. All you can do is bring up a shield.

Not enough. It hits you square on in the face, knocking you into the podium. You lie back, sitting against it. You spit out some blood and spittle pooling in your mouth, then look up as she brandishes her lance at you. “Last chance. I don’t want to have to kill you.”

You spit in her eye. She steps back, rubbing it. “My father is a coward, a traitor, and the worst kind of person I know. But I will never keep myself from preventing someone’s death. You will have to go through me. So go on, kill me.”

She widens her eyes, surprised. “You-…” She quickly brings the spearhead below your chin, cutting your neck shallowly. “He’s your father!?” You nod slightly. “I feel sorry for you.” She pulls it back, ready to strike. You close your eyes. If you have to die defending your father, you suppose you can justify it saying he was innocent.

You open your eyes. You look to see her, staring past you. You turn your head to see a young girl, poking his head out. The podium has slid away to reveal a hidden passageway. She couldn’t be older than nine. Another person steps up behind the girl, an old man with a hefty beard and a yellow star upon the breast of his jacket.

They’re Jews.

Papa bursts through the door, soldiers in tow. He widens his eyes when he sees you at the mercy of Cherry. “Lumière!” He screams as he runs down the aisle to you, then hugs you, getting in between you and Cherry’s spear. “Get away from her!”

What? “P-Papa?”

Cherry steps back. “What’s going on here?” she hisses. “Who are they!?” She jabs her spear at Papa’s chest, slicing his suit, but leaving no wound. “Explain this!”

Papa looks at you, then at the soldiers, then at Cherry. “… I couldn’t leave them. They- I was leaving for North Africa, they wanted me to take me with them, to safety. They-…” He lets go of you, but continues to scoot in front of Cherry’s lance, keeping you squarely behind him. “I’ve left too many people to die, I couldn’t leave them!”

Cherry’s rage turns into confusion. “You-…”

You blink. “Papa, you were helping Jews escape?”

He shakes his head. “There are more inside, three families. If you are looking for me because I sent yours to die, then fine! Kill me!” He stands up, dusting his suit down. “But you will not harm my daughter!” he yells.

Papa…

Cherry stands there, dumbfounded. The soldiers all look at each other, confused as to whether they should shoot or not. “I…” She looks to see more Jews, coming up from the basement to see what’s going on. “I…” She steps back, her lance disappearing.

You stand up, and step forward, reaching out to Cherry. She immediately projects a new lance, clutching it like a blanket. “It’s okay, it’ll be okay.” You stop, holding her hand out to her. “Look, I know you’re angry, and upset. I’m as confused as you are too but… we can make this better.”

She stares at Papa, then back at you. She looks to the soldiers, and at all the mess she has created.

Then she shakes her head, then blasts off into the sky through the hole in the ceiling. The soldiers rush in, aiming their rifles. Papa quickly calls them off. “Are you going to follow her?” he asks.

“No, she needs to work this out herself,” you say. You look at Papa, then back at the Jews. Papa quickly starts talking to the soldiers, swearing them into secrecy about what they saw today. The Jews quickly return into hiding in the Church, the girl’s eyes lingering on you for a second, before being pulled down by her parents.

You, Clarissa, and Papa sit on the roof of the City Hall. It’s warm, and the sun is setting on the day. Papa’s cooking was something you missed, and his food is certainly something you were missing for a long time. You ask, “Why didn’t you tell us?”

He shrugs. “I didn’t need to. And I wasn’t going to bring you down to their hiding spot just to show it off. You wouldn’t have believed me anyway.” He chews on his beans, looking down at the floor.

Clarissa nods. “So you were smuggling them out?”

“Trying, getting the passports has been difficult,” he says. He looks at you. “Lumi, I hope you don’t think this means you have to forgive me. I know you are angry at what I’ve done, and I know I can’t make up for it. I only hope we can part on amicable terms.”

Now that you think about it, he did love Mother quite dearly. Saying that to his face…

We're not really that sorry, but saying so to his face is more rude than he's warranted today.

suddenly forgiving abandoning her

Yeah no thank you.

We'll use our ring to fly these Jews to a safe country like America or somewhere.

To father: "You're not completely forgiven, but you are in the right path. Keep in touch."

>You don't have to forgive me even though I saved your life

That kind of goes without saying, Lumi's dad. No need to say it in front of her face without even so much as a "sorry for abandoning you". What a class act.

Man, we don't get to be the overpowered mary sue.
Shit sucks.

> Stay quiet.

You stay quiet, looking at the ground. Clarissa, who is sitting in between you two, simply scoots backwards to give you two some room. “You remember your mother’s favorite verse? I used to read it to you all the time when you were a baby. Proverbs 31:15-17, ‘She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls. She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.’ She loved that, never understood why. And I look at you now, and I sort of understand it now. Kind of.”

You nod, still eating your dinner in peace. “Lumi, I’m sorry for abandoning you,” he says. He stands up, then walks along and pats your head. You look up at him, a bit sadly. “I should be going.” He moves along, to the entrance, and away from you.

Clarissa scoots back in next to you. “I just talked to the Guardians about the Red Lantern. They ain’t mad she’s gone, she’s at least not in our Sector anymore. But, we need to keep on the lookout, and that means you’re no longer on Planetary Arrest.” She tilts her head. “Are you okay?”

She sighs. “You know, if it was me in your shoes. I would’ve forgiven him.” You blink, looking at him. “Just saying, the world ain’t gotta just be about darkness and hate. We have to learn to love each other, and learn to see good in people. Even the smallest ember can turn into a great fire for good. You just have to fan it a bit.”

Oh for fuck's sake, enough of your emo shit already. Lumi can never have a happy or fulfilling relationship if she gives up on the concept and it would turn into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

You smile. “Thank you, Clarissa.” She grins, wrapping her arm around you and pulling you close. “Honestly, these have been a trying few days for me. I suppose this is a nice highlight.”

“There, you just gotta keep on the sunny side.” She runs her fingers through your hair vigorously, giggling. You slap her hand away, pouting. “Anyway, I hear talk from the Justice Society that Vandal Savage has a new spy ring in the good ol’ US of A! You wanna help me bust it before the Guardians call us again?”

You roll your eyes. “Maybe we should keep to the stars, who knows what they might need us for?”

“Come on…” She leans in close, giving a very flirty look to you. “Beating up bad guys, saving kids and girls. It’ll be a thrill!”

You sigh. “Will I get to lead?”

“You’ll get to lead.”

You quickly scarf down your dinner, then place the plate down. “Race you to Gotham!” You blast off, with Clarissa trailing behind. The both of you laugh, feeling just about ready to take on the world.

One day Lumi will manage to avoid having a Bad Day. Probably because of Clarissa and RT having all the bad luck instead.
