Overview

>This is a quest taking place in the Dragonball universe, starting at the beginning of the Saiyan Saga

>You are a human male, currently five years of age

>At the end of each update, you will have the opportunity to vote on what to do next. When one course of action has three votes, it wins.

>Write-ins are allowed, though I will disregard those I suspect to be shitposting

>Death is possible in this quest, but in this universe it is rarely permanent. So, try to be careful, but have fun

>I will offer certain action/dialogue options at the end of each update. You can vote on these, or write-in

>Have fun!

It's now or never. You won't get another chance to win this battle. If you retreat now, you won't have the energy to defend against his attacks, but if you don't give everything you have, Yamcha's Kamehameha wave will overpower your own.

Digging deep within yourself, you pull more of your energy to the surface. Your knees buckle with the effort, and the strain becomes nearly unbearable. It's a miracle you don't collapse from exhaustion, and you realize that once this is over, you probably will.

All of your effort pays off, however, and your beam begins to push back Yamcha's. His eyes widen, and he lets out a cry of surprise as he tries futilely to stop your attack. A few moments later, your beam reaches Yamcha, hitting him full force and pushing him back, all the way off the edge of the Lookout.

You see that your attack, as well as the effort of the struggle, severely weakened Yamcha, to the point where he can do nothing but plummet to the Earth below.

"Yamcha!" Krillin yells,, rushing to the edge of the Lookout and diving off after him.

You fall to your knees, and are vaguely aware of Tien and Chiaotzu calling your name as everything fades into blackness.

When you open your eyes, you're in an unfamiliar bed in an unfamiliar room. You feel exhausted, and you're sore in several spots, but are fairly sure you're still alive.

You don't really see any point in sitting around and doing nothing, and you're just too uncomfortable going back to sleep when you have no idea where you even are.

You rise out of bed, and, finding your legs to be about the only parts of your body that aren't incredibly sore, cross the room and open the door. Stepping out of the room, you find yourself in a long hallway, which tells you that you're probably in a fairly large building. You realize that you're probably inside the only building on the Lookout, and you must have been taken to that bedroom after you passed out.

There doesn't seem to be anybody around, but it only takes a moment to sense all of the nearby energies.

Krillin, Tien, Chiaotzu, Popo, and Yajirobe are all outside.

You sense Kami in one of the rooms down the hall.

You don't sense Yamcha.

You decide to find Kami, and walk down the hall until you find yourself outside of a large door.

While debating whether to knock or just go in, the door swings open on its own. Seeing no reason not to, you go inside.

The room is lit very dimly, and is empty save a throne in its center, upon which sits the only other person in the room. Kami's head is lowered, and his eyes are closed, though that changes once you've taken a few steps in.

The guardian fixes you with a serious gaze, but offers a kind smile.

"Welcome, Kaguya," he greets. "I hear you had quite an interesting first day of training."

"Is Yamcha okay?" you ask.

Kami nods. "He is fine. He is sleeping in a nearby room, as you were. I must say, I am impressed with your victory. Yamcha is a skilled martial artist. In fact, I fought him myself in the World Martial Arts Tournament several years ago. Besting him is something few could pull off."

He eyes you intently as he rises from his throne. "You are an interesting person, Kaguya."

He slowly approaches. "You display a level of strength as the age of five that most humans never reach in their entire lives. No doubt, you have realized yourself how different you are from most."

He slowly walks past you and into the hall. Getting the sense he wants you to follow, you go after him, quickly catching up and walking at his side.

"However, I suspect you do not understand just how significant of a difference you have from others," he continues. "Your true nature is very interesting to me."

"What do you mean with all of this?" you ask as you and Kami continue to walk, reaching a flight of stairs and beginning to climb upwards.

Kami smiles. "That is something I would like for you to figure out on your own. Whether or not you can do so will let me know if my belief is incorrect."

You and Kami reach the top of the stairs, coming to a small spot overlooking the entire Lookout. Below you, Krillin spars with Tien, while Chiaotzu throws some energy blasts at Yajirobe, who looks really disinterested as he dodges.

"There is something I would like for you to do," Kami explains as he looks down at the training martial artists. "I believe, in doing so, you will learn a great deal about yourself. Of course, if you would simply like to return to your training, you may do so."

"What do you want me to do?" you ask.

"To the North, there is a ruin hidden deep within a forest," Kami tells you. "It is said that a great treasure lies within the ruin. I sense that someone seeks to claim it with wicked intentions."

He turns to you. "I wish for you to go to the ruin and stop the plans of the one who seeks the treasure. And, I would like you to find the treasure yourself."

"I'll do it," you tell Kami. "But, how will I find the ruin?"

Kami's answer is to place a hand upon your head. An image flashes before your eyes of what looks like a pile of stones in the middle of the woods. You can almost feel its location in your head and are confident that you can find it now.

"So, what is this treasure?" you ask.

"You will have to find that out for yourself," he tells you. "But know that it is a powerful and great gift, and that it would ill suit the kind of person who is seeking it."

"And who is after the treasure?" you question.

"A wicked man who has caused a great deal of trouble in the past," Kami answers. "He nearly brought the entire world to its knees once many years ago."

You get the feeling Kami has told you all that he's going to, and so prepare to leave. You briefly consider asking for supplies, but with your flight and energy abilities, rope and flashlights are pretty much useless. Besides, you doubt Kami keeps any of that stuff up here.

So, you fly from the Lookout. Knowing where you need to go, it doesn't take very long for you to reach the forest.

It's then that you sense three power levels near the location of the ruins. They all seem stronger than the average human, but they are far weaker than you. Still, it might not hurt to be cautious. You could land where you are and creep up on them, or you could fly right to them and trust you're strong enough to keep from being overwhelmed.

You take the cautious solution and land where you are. You aren't far from where they are, and it only takes a few minutes for you to reach them.

You hear them before you see them; they aren't exactly being quiet. You're pretty sure that every animal in the entire forest (and possibly people in nearby cities) can hear their bickering.

"And I'm telling you it's not my fault! This stupid map must be broken or something!" is the first sentence you can hear clearly.

"Sir, I don't think you can break a map," a female voice says.

"Not without ripping it, at least," a third adds helpfully.

"Well I'm telling you it's broken!" the first voice snaps. "Shu! Shouldn't you be able to smell where we're going?"

"Sorry sir, I think my nose must be broken," the third voice replies.

"It would help if we knew what we were looking for," the woman points out.

Looking around a tree, you see an odd combination of people.

One is a short blue person with pointy ears wearing a silly hat. Another appears to be a dog armed with a sword and wearing a purple kimono. The last is a tall woman with black hair wearing a trench coat.

Absorbed in their bickering, they don't seem to realize they're being watched.

You can't really bring yourself to harm what seems to be a harmless group of people. Besides, you get the feeling they could keep bickering for a long while.

Sneaking around them is predictably easy, and as you approach the location of the ruin, you can still hear shouting in the distance.

The ruin is unimpressive; a pair of large rocks with a small bit of space between them. At least, at first glance. But, coming closer, you find a large hole between the rocks, descending into darkness.

Of course, you jump into the hole. Taking a moment, you create a small ball of energy in your hand to light the area.

You're in a small room with stone walls, ceiling, and floor. At the other side of the room is a single stone door. The walls are blank, save for moss and some vines, and a few bats fleeing when you light the room leaves the room entirely empty.

Not seeing anything else to do in this room, and not wanting to turn back, you do the obvious thing and approach the stone door.

It's heavy, but with your impressive strength you are able to force it open. Making your way into the next room, you nearly fall into a chasm. On the other side, you see a path leading into a long hallway. Being able to fly, you make your way across the chasm easily and walk down the hallway. At the end are two doors, larger than the first you went through, but you're able to push through them, coming into a large room.

In the center stands a statue of a large, muscular man with long hair and wearing a headband. His right palm is against the ceiling, as if supporting it. His left hand is at his side, curled into a fist.

You approach the statue, planning to look around and behind it for anything else. You poke your head between its legs and see that there is nothing behind it. A quick glance to your left and right tells you that the room is otherwise empty.

"Looking for something?" a voice behind you asks.

Pulling your head back and spinning around, you find yourself face to face with the statue. Only, he's not a statue.

The man is about as tall and muscular as the statue would leave you to believe. He wears simple white garb and an orange headband below his mane of long blonde hair.

"I don't know," you answer truthfully. "Kami said I should go. Is it snacks? Cake?"

That fight with Yamcha must have made you hungry.

"No, it's not snacks," he tells you. "It's much more special. You see, a very long time ago, people were different than they are now. Mankind was young, and knew very little. We believed anything was possible, and that we could possibly do anything. That is the time when I lived. Myself and others did many great things during that time, things that are remembered in legend today. As time went on, and mankind became "smarter" they began to think that less and less was actually possible. People put limitations on themselves, and the human race as a whole have carried those limitations imposed by their ancestors for a very long time."

He turns and looks to the statue. "Myself and many I knew are remembered only in legend, now. Those like us are sometimes called "super humans"."

He chuckles. "The treasure is the removal of one's limitations, allowing them to aspire to limitless potential as we did so long ago. Once someone has claimed this "treasure" they can grow infinitely stronger with training."

He turns back to you. "There are, however, some costs. For one thing, growing stronger will take more and more work the tougher you get. After all, the stronger you get, the harder it is to find a sufficient challenge. Also, if you go for too long without training or testing yourself, your powers will begin to diminish. And, when I bestow this gift upon someone, I make it so that they must devote their lives to protecting others if they wish to keep growing stronger."

"Why does somebody else need to remove them?" you ask.

"Over time, mankind has become so convinced of its own insignificance and many limitations that they've actually imposed those limitations upon themselves completely. It's engraved in nearly every human being, and takes someone free of that burden to relieve them of it."

"Can you remove mine?" you ask.

He grins. "That won't be necessary. I did say "nearly" every human has those limitations. But, from time to time, someone special is born free of them. You are one of those special people, Kaguya."

"If I don't have limits, why did Kami send me here?" you ask.

"I do not know," he tells you honestly. "Perhaps you should ask him."

"Could you train me?" you ask eagerly.

He smiles sadly. "I would love to, but I can't stay here for very long, I'm afraid."

Something else occurs to you. "Can you unlimit my friends?"

He smiles. "You don't need me for that. Good luck, Kaguya."

With that, Olibu fades away, leaving you in an empty room with a gigantic statue.

Making your way quickly through the underground path, you soon come back out of the hole. Rather than going back to the Lookout, however, you decide to check on the bickering group of people.

Luckily, you don't have to go far, as they happen to be standing right in front of the ruin when you come out of the hole. Their expressions tell you that they were not expecting a child to appear in the woods.

"Where did that kid come from?!" the tiny blue creature demands.

"It's a ghost!" the dog suggests, covering his eyes.

The woman, however, has the sense to ask "What are you doing out here, kid?"

"What are you doing out here?" you ask back, with a bright, friendly smile that for some reason seems to unnerve them even further.

"I'm the one asking questions!" the woman yells back.

"J-just tell the ghost what it wants to know!" the dog cries.

"We're looking for treasure!" the woman tells you.

"Oh, well I'm Kaguya, and I came looking for treasure, too," you tell the trio.

The blue creature stops shaking, and looks at you with greed filled eyes. "Really? Did you find it?"

You nod, still smiling. "Yep, and I destroyed it!"

"YOU DID WHAT?!" the blue creature demands. "You little brat! I wanted that treasure! Now I'm going to show you what happens when you make Emperor Pilaf mad!"

He pulls a small capsule from his pocket, and the other two do the same.

Before they can do anything with the capsules, you knock Emperor Pilaf out with a single quick strike.

As he falls to the ground, the other two panic, turning and tripping over each other trying to run away. Unfortunately for them, you're a lot faster than they are, and catch them quickly. A couple quick strikes knock them out, and they fall down side by side.

You've found the treasure like Kami asked, and you stopped Pilaf from claiming it. Mission accomplished. Now, all there is to do is go back to the Lookout.

Leaving the so-called "villains" napping, you leave the forest behind and fly to the Lookout.

It doesn't take any longer to get back to the Lookout than it did to reach the ruins from the Lookout. When you land, you go right inside, drawing some odd looks from the others. Quickly making your way to Kami's throne room, you find him sitting, and looking as if he's been patiently waiting for you.

"Welcome back, Kaguya," he greets with a smile. "Tell me, how did it go?"

You explain everything to Kami, from first seeing Pilaf and his friends, to exploring the ruin, to meeting Olibu, to defeating Pilaf in a "fight".

Kami listens with clear interest, not interrupting even once as you tell the story. When you finish, he doesn't immediately say anything, so you decide to speak up instead, voicing some questions you have.

"Why did you send me there if I didn't need my potential unlocked?" you ask Kami.

Kami rises from his throne. "I told you, I wanted you to learn about yourself, Kaguya."

"And what about stopping Pilaf?" you ask. "What would someone like him do with that treasure?"

"In all likelihood, nothing," Kami answers truthfully. "The conditions of that gift are ones I doubt Pilaf could meet. As I said, it would ill-suit a man like him."

"Would Olibu have given it to him?" you ask.

"He would have, but as I said, Pilaf would likely fail to meet the conditions of the gift," Kami reiterates. "This was to help you learn about yourself, and to confirm my beliefs."

He puts a hand on your shoulder and guides you through the hall until you reach the entrance to the building.

"Now, I suggest you return to training with the others," he tells you. "I will come for you all when I feel you are ready."

He chuckles at some unheard joke, then turns and walks back to his throne room. As you step outside, Krillin comes running up to you.

You tell Krillin everything that's happened.

As you tell the story, Tien, Chiaotzu, Yamcha (who you are relieved to see has completely recovered), and even Yajirobe gather around to listen. Everyone except Tien (who generally seems to keep a calm exterior) and Yajirobe (who just doesn't care very much) looks more and more excited as you explain.

"That's incredible!" Krillin shouts, grinning like a madman. "With someone like you helping us, the Saiyans won't have a chance!"

"Yeah! And maybe working with you will help remove our limits," Yamcha suggests.

"Alright guys, only one thing to do," Krillin announces. "Let's get back to training."
