The past two weeks have seen a much-appreciated return to what passes for "normal" for me. I've been going to school like normal, hanging out with Mina like normal, visiting Charlotte like normal... and Theresa's also gone back to mostly avoiding me like normal. She'll say hi to me when I go out of my way to talk to her, but she's completely stopped having lunch with us at school or hanging out with us during the weekends.

Mina says to give her time, but I still feel pretty awful about it.

And speaking of school, my first few days after coming back from that whole Mafia thing were absolute HELL. Apparently the cover story behind why I was missing for three days was that I "was caught in the crossfire in a plot to kidnap the daughter of a wealthy businessman," and pretty much everyone at school grilled me for like a week afterwards on the details. I was lucky enough to not have to talk to the police too much, but dealing with the kids at school constantly trying to interrogate me was just about as bad.

The absolute worst was the phonecall with my parents after I got home from the hospital, though. They were even more worried about me than Allison was, and just thinking about much it messed them up makes me sick.

Yeah... while I was still laid up in the hospital, there was like a total massacre at that building that me and Charlotte were being held in. And not just the three people that Charlotte killed, like twenty bodies were found in there, all with multiple gunshot wounds. Mina and Theresa said that they made a point not to kill anyone when they broke in to rescue us, so I have no idea why the hell happened with that.

And then the restaurant where our food was burned down too... I'm kind of hesitant to ask Charlotte if she knows what happened there for fear of how she'll respond.

I could always call ahead to tell Charlotte that I'm on my way... but eh, she already knows that I'll be coming over sometime today. No point in wasting the effort. And with her Synapse range being what it is, it's not like she won't know that I'm coming anyways.

She's so cute, I just want to hug her. But doing that would only get me arrested as some kind of perv, so I most definitely will not be doing that. As the elevator door opens up, I hold bock my love of cuteness and follow her inside without acting weird.

Entering on the side that has the floor buttons on it, I pull out my keycard and slide it into the slot, then press the button for the top floor as per my usual routine.

"...whoops, sorry," I say, turning to the girl. "What's your floor?"
"The top one," she says after a long pause. Then she buries her face in her stuffed bunny thing. "...I think."
"Huh," I nod. "Your parents are up at the top floor?"

Keycard... here we go. I have no idea why the hell I put it back in my pocket when I was going to need it again a few minutes later, but eh. Keeping it at the ready, I walk down the hallway until I reach Charlotte's room, then unlock the door and walk inside.

I hear a loud thud and the sound of Loki cawing.

"B- be right there!" Charlotte shouts back.
