The drop ship shakes from the jolt of the atmosphere. The roar as the engines kick in is deafening even within his suit, and as the engines buck the hull Lyle bites his tongue.

“Wake up rookie! You may think you’re a badass, but you’re still a greenhorn in this rodeo!” Leroy yelled over the radio as Lyle held back a curse. Several others chuckled as a drop of blood ran down his chin.

“Happens to most on their first drop, man, give the kid a break.” Boomer spoke up in a gravelly voice as the drop ship started to level out. A yellow light lit up on the far wall.

“Five minutes to drop!” Someone yells over the radio.

Lyle feels himself fall backwards in his seat until he’s hanging upside down within the coffin sized drop pod. The door shuts with a pneumatic hiss, and he is in darkness.

Going for an all nighter QD?

Question left unanswered from last thread:

Would building dedicated laboratories improve the speed of research or provide a roll bonus?

I expect they can be thematic, from a dedicated physics or chemistry lab to something like exotic matter research or even less experimental fields like archaeology.

The metal polymer box muffles the sound of the engines into a white noise. The radio is cut off until the landfall, leaving Lyle alone with his thoughts, watching the clock count to zero. He can feel the blood running through his skull, his heart is racing. There is a mechanical crunch as the rocket boosters arm themselves, and it is at that moment he truly realized he is inside a bullet about to be fired at the planet below.

The clock hits zero and he blacks out. By the time he realizes what's happening he can see the altimeter racing to ground level. A green light flashes on his hud and the retro rockets deploy. It feels like a kick to the head and his pod jerks upward, braking hard and fast until the fuel is gone.

The drop pod peels away, leaving him in free fall, hurtling to the ground. The rocket pack deployed at the last second and he hits the dirt, fumbling forward and planting himself visor first in the ground. As he gets up the sound of weapons fire has already filled the air.

You ponder why his mind has chosen to bring him here. From his memories, this is his very first taste of combat as a drop trooper. You watch as he sprints up a hill to get into a firing position, arcing rockets into a rebel artillery emplacement not far from his position.

Excavators include a built-in refinery. While they can devour massive amounts of rock at once, they can only 'digest' a set amount. This makes them a rather efficient choice for situations where the ore quality is lower than average, making use of their ability to filter lots and lots of rock very quickly.

Boomer activates his jump pack and leaps into the air. He glides in a long arc over the enemy camp and a stream of weapons fire erupts from his suit. Grenades shatter the small walls and barricades as Lyle's barrage covers the small complex in dust.

"First one down. Move to the main battery." Leroy said calmly over the radio, his own suit gliding through the air to the top of a nearby cliff. Lyle followed suit. The artillery piece was only the weakest area nearby. It was perfect as a drop point, but their target was several clicks north. Even now he could see the end of the anti-orbital battery slowly turning to track the fleet above.

It fired. His visor dims to prevent him from going blind, and the audio mutes to avoid blowing out his eardrums. A shaft of light sears through the sky, burning the air into a white hot plasma. A clap of thunder rolls over the hills as the air moves into the vacuum left behind.

"They see us, get in there now, now, now!"
Tracer rounds fly past their heads and burst behind them as they race through the sky, now plummeting toward the complex of the massive gun. Lyle looks down and his hud zooms in on a group of armed rebels. He holds out his right arm and brings his thumb to his palm. The rotary cannon opens up with a satisfying roar and in a moment the rebels are turned to a fine pink mist. He lands where they were a moment ago with a thud, cracking the concrete beneath him.

He watches his squad mates fly overhead, each one landing on a different point around the facility. They would surround it and move in, then meet in the center and silence the battery. Lyle looked ahead, his visor scanning the area. There was a small loading bay before him, probably guarded. Above that was a roof top. He spotted an auxiliary access there, but it would leave him little room to maneuver in his suit.

While we're digging through Lyle's backstory, can someone give me a rundown of drone and ship costs when designing a new one?

I think there's standard base costs, but I don't recall what all of them are.

I'm also not sure about the prices of abnormal component sizes on drones or ships, assuming they're possible.
>>

So I just add up costs after applying size modifiers? I thought a medium drone cost two nutrients just because it was medium, or something like that.

No, you made that up.

Technically, a drone without legs or arms or claws or anything, just a carapace with eyes and basic antennae, would be free? but no one makes that.
>>

Okay.

Does the weapons accuracy and damage data scale with the sizenof the weapon, or is it proportional to medium turrets? I remember one of the early threads said something confusing about turrets.

He charges forward to the bay door. He holds his fingers together and bends his pointer finger away with his thumb pressed tight against the side of his palm. A grenade erupts from his gauntlet with a thump and blows away the door as he sprints through the debris and into a hail of plasma. A CIP pistol arcs to his suit and he can feel his leg go limp.

He holds out his left arm and a red hot tungsten rod flies from his arm and into the man's head. He drops his pistol as his skull is pinned to the wall. A number of other soldiers open fire, their bullets hitting the armor plating of his suit like hailstones on sheet metal. He feels one of them bounce through a gap in the plates, piercing his forearm and sending shooting pain through his body. He raises his arms to try to shield against the fire and charges forward blindly.

"Gunshot detected. Administering gause." His suit drones out methodically as he charges, his eyes shut in a mix of panic and agony as a disinfectant foam is shot into the bleeding wound. Several wet thuds hit his chest and he impacts the wall, going through it without slowing and sending him tumbling into a stairwell.

"Multiple bone fractures detected."

Lyle stifles a scream as his undersuit constricts his leg, setting the bone.

Lyle feels something pull him from the pile of twisted rebar and crumbled cement. A soothing voice speaks into his mind like a faint whisper. "You're supposed to aim first, you know."

He shakes his head and looks above him. The hole in the wall is stained with blood. A figure with an outdated rifle looks down at him and yells out something. Lyle lobs a grenade through the hole.

"Rogers! What's your status?" Leroy comes in, the sound of static and heavy fire in the background.

"Meeting resistance, but I'm ok."

"Well that's good. Take your time and all. Of course there's fucking resistance. Get to the goddamn fire control center, the fire doors are sealed on my end!"

Lyle pulls up the schematic of the facility on his hud and quickly finds a rout. The voice whispers in his mind again. "Are you going to wait for an invitation?"

Lyle thinks for a moment and with a swift swing of his fist the wall is reduced to rubble. He notes with satisfaction as the rout on his map is cut in half. Most of the area on this level is maintanance, and there are few rebels. Those he encounters are vaporised in passing, or flee at the thundering echo of his footsteps. He quickly reaches the door to the fire control.

"Ok, I'm at the rendezvous point. Where are you?"

There is a crack of static. Boomer comes in a moment later. "Leroy's gone! Rogers, we're not gonna make it in time at this rate. Blow the fucker already!" There is the sound of a bolt of plasma arcing against armor and the radio crackles. "These aren't rebels! Union black ops maybe, but shit they have gear!" Another arcing plasma blast. The radio comes back weaker. "Their goddamned fast. Blow the place before they-" The radio cuts to static as an explosion rocks the facility.

Lyle moves to the door and places his armored fist to it. He forms his left hand into a fist with his pointer and little fingers outstretched and the sonic breacher shatters the door, frame and all. On the far side of the wall are a group of rebels, and a man in a black suit of fibre armor. He turns to Lyle and grins ear to ear.

"Oh good, you know we were just talking about you. Clumsy and crude things you are."

Lyle presses his thumb to his palm and the room is filled in cannon fire. A dozen rebels are vaporized like tissue in a jet turbine and the terminals turn into a cloud of vapor. The man is gone, and a moment later Lyle feels his arm snap. The cannon jams and cracks. He clicks his teeth and it jettisons from his suit, impacting the wall like a rocket. He turns to see the man as he flips over him, somersaulting across Lyle's helmet and ripping a pneumatic tube with his bare hands. His right arm goes limp as he feels the full weight of the armor plates.

There is a slight tug on Lyle's remaining arm as the man sprints past for another attack, and Lyle cuffs him in the jaw. There is the satisfying smack of steel to flesh, and the man's head plants into a wall. He props his arm on the wall and pulls his skull from the rubble. His skin is torn from his skull, revealing a metal plated skeleton staring back at him with unblinking eyes. The skull opens its jaw and lets out a cackling laugh.

It charges again, flipping out a combat knife with a practiced motion. Lyle feels the blade jam through a gap in the plates of his leg and it goes limp, but not before he finds a grip around the cyborg's skull. He squeezed tightly and brings his fist down into the ground again and again. As he picks up the man by his head for another strike the legs kick up and wrap around his arm. Its feet kick into Lyle's shoulder and there is a crack from both the suit and his arm. He falls back to the floor with a thud as the man's skeletal face fills his view.

"No, mission, everything's fine here." He says in a quiet tone, still staring into his visor. "Just mopping up now." He pulls the knife from his leg and stands up, twiddling the blade between his metallic fingers.

You sense Lyle's heart racing as the suit's systems shut down one by one. His body runs cold and numb as the power signature drains percent by percent.

This, you note, was the second time he has felt this kind of terror. The first was on the day of his father's death. The last, was on the surface of Leeland.

You feel him click through several mental commands, and the suit opens, the plates unpeeling from his body and rumpling to the floor. The skeleton laughs again.

"Fisticuffs, then? How wonderful."

The figure grabs Lyle by the collar of his skinsuit and hoists him to the air with one arm before tossing him across the room. "You have more balls than anyone I've seen, I'll give you that. Not so sure about brains, though."

Lyle spits out a tooth and attempts to stand, his left arm cradled under his chest. The man kicks him as he approaches, then pulls him up by the shoulder and slams him against the wall.

You hear a faint beep from the suit as the self destruct finishes charging. The man drops Lyle to the floor and turns to look. Lyle is laughing meekly through his wounds, and in his left hand is the detonator.
He jams his thumb on the button, and his memory goes dark.

There is the sound of breathing. Mechanical breathing. Lyle opens his eyes to a blinding light. An egg white plaster room flooded in fluorescent lighting. He tries to speak, but there is an oxygen tube lodged into his esophagus. He is submerged in a dense, numbing liquid, most of his arms and legs are burnt and charred.

You walk into the room slowly. A white glowing humanoid figure wrapped in a silken dress of insect wings. Flowing streams of thought trail from a twisted crown of glass. The large, black orbs for eyes gaze into the tank to Lyle, and you press your palm against the glass.

"You are lucky to be alive." You say as the glass warps. The tank quickly becomes a sickly yellow-green membrane. The hospital melts around him into a dark labyrinth of tunnels. Chittering echoes from the tunnels as drones skitter from place to place. "Or perhaps it is more than luck."

Your hand phases through the membrane and you reach out to Lyle's arms. The charred flesh cracks at your touch and the flesh peels and sloughs away into a cloud of mucus and blood. As the pod dissipates the dark red cloud his limbs are a sleek black of sliding metal plates.

"Why did you try to blow yourself up?" You ask, your mind stuck on the image of him grasping the detonator. You recall he attempted a similar thing when you first captured him.

He speaks as if the fluid of the tank were air. His voice his hardly a whisper. "It's just standard procedure."
You tilt your head and retract your hand from the pod. "That was anything but."
He blinks slowly, his gaze drifting lazily over the strange arms on his shoulders. "I was already dead." He says.

"But you survived." You say. He doesn't respond, simply looks at you with a tired gaze. You feel his thoughts drift between the fight in the bunker, and the fight on Leeland. He doesn't seem sure which moment you are referring to.

He walks to the hall and runs his hand along the wall, his armored fingers sliding across the metal with a faint scrape. He leans against the wall, the crown of his head pressed against the bulkhead. Tears begin to stream down his face, and he says nothing.

Reactive pupils – Your own eyes are naturally highly capable even in darkness. While you cannot outright copy your drones’ eyes, you can improve upon the human eye to bring it close to your own. Grants vision in near total darkness as if using a night vision visor. The irises themselves are light yellow in color, with slight green discoloration along the edges of the eye itself. (2N)

Echolocation – An enhanced sound processing organ replaces the inner ear, granting a vast increase in the perception and identifying of sounds and their source location. (2N)

Arm blades – These retractable blades sit hidden within the forearm in a sheath of cartilage. At will, the user can extend the blades, unfolding them to a foot in length. The sheath runs the length of the forearm, and can extend the blades from either the elbow or wrist. While sheathed, the blades regenerate from damage, with small bones within the arm serving as grind stones to maintain a cutting edge. Due to design limitations, this is only available for the Lifter arms. (6N 10M)

Sting fingers – Small retractable hypodermic claws embedded within the cuticles of the fingers. Upon a successful melee strike the target takes additional slashing damage, and if the user chooses is injected with whatever material was loaded within the claws. The claws do not produce any toxin, but can be loaded either by absorbing the material through the claws, or by injecting it into a small compartment sack within the back of the hand. (6N 10M)

>>
>>35933062
>>35933072
Well, his limbs were already artificial, all we've done at the moment is given him upgrades. Internal augs like the eyes or ears would be a somewhat different case, on the other hand.

But yeah I vote to not do shit until Coil is securely on our side.
>>
>>35933109

>>
>>35933120

>>35933138
but we can't trust Coil and the slip drive. I definitly don't want to give our our blink drive, so that leaves the warp drive.

Just a thought: we could have a cloaked vessel on standby to bail Lyle out if he is in any danger.

>>35933153
Yes, I agree, by dependent on us I don't mean physically but rather resources, i.e. that we are his first port of call for anything he needs rather than other factions
>>
>>35933041
With coil still in his own pod undergoing a detailed analysis, you contemplate the various details of the drives.

>Slip drive
Uses unknown alien technology to shift the ship into and out of an alternate space. Coil can pilot it with ease, describing it as an art. Is known to be incredibly fast and very difficult to detect, but is based on unknown principles.

>Blink drive
The internal mechanisms can be made small enough to fit within the depths of the Angel's hull, with the Tachyon condensers disguised within the ship's main thruster casing. The blink itself releases substantial radiation, but the ship can blink in at great distances to avoid detection.

>Warp drive
Slow by comparison, and energy intensive. You could take some of the canderon from the Clarke and use it to create a warp ring for the Angel. The angel does not have the power output needed to maintain high speeds for long periods, and it would be limited to a cruising speed of 5 light years per day.

>>35933062
>>35933072
It's ok, you can read his mind. He's cool with it, even if he doesn't know it yet.
>>
>>35933191
>Blink drive

I'd rather we limit any and all possible contact with the Crystals as much as possible. And don't forget to add a remote self-destruct.
>>
>>35933185
Why can't we be emotionally invested into him.
as a queen we saw into his mind and saw him withh every flaw and perfection he is.
Sure, we are augmenting him.
But, is it possible to go further and see what happens?

And don't come at me with magical realm here.
lyle is perhaps someone we know and like the most from all humans.
>>
>>35933212
Maybe later, once he's proven himself, but now? No, that would be stupid on our part.

>>35933191
What about his crew? Could we send some drones or perhaps clones/hybrids on his crew to assist him? If so then I'm OK with giving him a blink drive. Otherwise not so much.
>>
>>35933244
I am not objecting.
carry on good sir or madame.
>>
>>35933191
>>35933210
I'm with this Anon. As powerful as Slip Drive is, using it with what we know about the crystals is a super bad idea.
>>
>>35933244
There is enough room within his ship to fit an advanced relay (although you would need to either have it sitting in the middle of the bridge like a giant Flood growth, or fill one of the unused crew cabins with it), and of course you could always send a drone with a thinker with him, or simply send normal drones with him and use the relay.

Either way, his parasite also has a quantum thinker, and so could be ordered to serve as a navigator on his behalf.

That's all up to you guys.
>>
>>35933283
I like the idea of human clones and hybrids on his crew. They would fit in on missions to human worlds and wouldn't easily expose us. The blink drive should also be safer with some of our troops on board.

Do the clones and hybrids need an advanced relay?
>>
>>35933283
>Advanced Relay in one of the Crew cabins
>Have a couple of the Shocktroops (no drama pls) we have left to guard it
Any other drones we send with him should have acid glands.
>>
>>35933316
Both kinds of clones have the same level of independent capabilities as a normal human, but the hybrid is psionically sensitive and receives commands as an obsessive compulsion. If they are outside of your range the obsessive compulsion will remain until it is fulfilled just like a thinker, but they will be able to use their full individual creativity to accomplish it. Once the job is done, they feel an overwhelming need to return to the hive, even if they lack any memories of the hive itself.

Normal clones are biologically just normal humans.
>>
>>35933319
I like this idea, I think Lyle would appreciate having a few murderbugs at his disposal. Why don't we throw in a few flies or mini-sniffers to recon the both of us.
>>
>>35933316
Also if we create clones can we alter their appearance and genes from the humans we have already captured so that they are not recognized by the Union? So they won't technically be clones but yeah you know what I mean.

>>35933355
Ok, that's good to know, sounds better and better. So now I definitely want some clones and hybrids on his crew.

>>35933356
Yes, they might be useful. Agreed.
>>
>>35933355

>Add advanced relay to Hel's Angel
>Equip Blink drive
>Rig all hive components to self destruct
There is also some suport for initiating a cloneing project
>Start Hybrid project (who)
>Start replicant project (who)
>Not now
>Other

>>
>>35933382
I wonder how Lyle would react to hybrid clones of the Mercs he picked up on Mars and we tore to pieces? Maybe we should start making them, but leave the option of whether or not to assign them to the Angel up to Lyle.

In either case I really would rather not risk the Union getting a hold of them. If they realized we were actually capable of making human replicants, or 'time-traveling space jews', we would have a fleet bearing down on our world inside a week. Not to mention /pol/ would explode, but that's pretty much a given.
>>
>>35933401
Would fully grown clones be put in hibernation until they are ready to be used?
Otherwise
>not now
I don't even know who we're supposed to clone. Certainly not the Union prisoners because they might be ID'd if they set foot on Union worlds
>>
>>35933401
How long would it take to install a slip or blink drive? If it isn't long I would prefer to hold off until we can interrogate Coil properly. The slip drive really is ideal but a huge risk before we have all the facts.
>>
>>35933449
You could have a Blink drive grown and installed in about a day. You could install the void shards back into the ship within a few hours.

>>35933440
You could leave them dormant within their pod until you need them, keeping them in a state of suspended animation.

>Space dust
While it was too minute to analyze in the field, this space dust contains trace amounts of nutrient contents. Testing should reveal if it is a form of life, or simply some strange natural phenomena, as well as how to make use of it.

>Ceph biology
Your study of Coil's biology is going surprisingly well, and after several quick scans you are able to make several interesting observations. Despite the large head of the Ceph, there is actually no real brain, instead the Ceph possesses a distributed nervous system made of small clusters of nerves within most of the major organs. What's more is that each cluster is itself sentient to some small degree, and is aware of itself and the other clusters. The head contains three such clusters, one controlling the skin pigmentation, the other internal buoyancy organs and water jets, and the last possessing the greatest amount of higher reasoning. The third cluster is attached directly to a series of porous plugs that seem to be used to interface with the shell, which is the next focus of your research efforts.

>Drop Suit
This set of powered armor contains a wide range of weapons and equipment. Your thinkers are giddy with excitement as they review their findings. The suit itself uses a powerful set of artificial muscles to lift its great weight, imparting enhanced strength and durability. By mimicking the suit's strength enhancements you can now equip Heavy Armor carapace to normal sized drones, granting them extraordinary durability at the cost of speed and maneuverability.

If we take the genes required for this and put them in our soldiers, stranded or isolated drones could have opportunity to remain active for much longer at less of a risk in certain environments and situations. It could be very useful.
>>
>>35933981
That seems so niche it's really unlikely to ever matter.
>>
>>35933989
Boarding actions:
Have to pull out, but still have drones aboard. Now they could hunt and eat the crew, but if they are weakened or if they need to lay low until another time e.g. ship is isolated/alone, then eating the metal decking in far off sections of the ship would allow them to remain undercover for much longer.
Just one example.
>>
>>35933953
Actually that's very useful. It means that some ships or colonies could be cut off, isolated or hidden entirely in for example an asteroid belt or other mineral rich environment and still function without outside support.
>>
>>35934006
Our ships can teleport lightyears away and are invisible. And this assumes they can't just bring their own damn rations. Still niche.

Your space pods watch in silence as the daily life of various worlds of various races unfold under your watchful eyes. The Skyl ship has finished the strange logistics frigate, and it in turn begins to retrofit the rest of the fleet while the drive ship continues to construct new corvettes.

Far away in the human systems the news from Gemini is starting to reach the distant colonies. You see reruns of the speech being played through Koenig, and you take note of several small riots and protests forming within the local station.

Honestly I was expecting some sort of of spaceborne miracle food that only needs sunlight and is not constrained by things like gravity or electromagnetic fields.
>>
>>35934014
You have no imagination.
>>
While it is niche due to the inefficiency, I wanted to make sure to include it because having too much of the only resource you don't need is one of the worst problems to have.
>>
>>35934025
We still need to finally start experimenting on the human test subjects with those drugs and pheromones.
>>
>>35934041
I know QD, and I understand that sometimes you have to balance things to keep us from being too OP.
It still won't stop our manifest destiny of ruling the stars though
>>
>>35934025
One little suggestion:
Utility pods.

Essentially a soup of cells in a cocoon like structure the size of a small package, that can be triggered to turn into any variety of tools once. E.g. a computer interface, carried by a few of the warrior drones, for some extra long range utility.

Not much use right now, but if we end up running black ops or deep space missions with limited resupply, it could act as a lifeline away from the egg layers. Even having a variation mode were it reproduces into two copy's would up versatility.

Uses the nutrients of the activator to replicate or produce, but has enough nutrients on its own to form into the utility package.
>>
>>35934025
How about we finally set up a Valen bank account for our credits?
>>
When can we start expanding to other systems?
Let's colonise all the surrounding star systems with no human presence. Start massive mining operations for our soon to be built fleet and prepare for the possible human invasion.
>>
>>35934065
That seems kind of ridiculous. "it turns into ANYTHING!"

That's like, the full power of a queen's eggsac being able to produce anything.
>>
Can we send an exploration vessel west and south, to see what's beyond the map's border.
>>
>>35934088
Since it does not need a full independent organisms genome in it, being primarily parasitic for most metabolism, it could hold several designs.

E.g. one weapon, one interface, one medicaid.
It does not have to be able to turn into everything to be useful.
>>
>>35934065
What >>35934088 said. Also we have fake queens for that already, right?
>>
Okay, so we can find out where Ceph space is if we first go to Valen space and use one of their gates leading to it.

I wonder if trying to slip a pod through a gate alongside another ship would break stealth.

We just need the coordinates of the systems with those gates, now.
>>
>>35934114
For use were a layer is not possible. its primary role is to cut down on resupply logistics.
>>
>>35934131
So basically the fake queen egg sacc without the fake queen?
>>
>>35934131
Resupply logistics appear to be abstracted away in this game. We really don't need more micromanaging. Literally, it's not needed because game abstractions don't get that granular.

>>35934149
No? a small pod that you stick on a few drones and keep a small supply of to pass round. When needed, they turn a portion into the tools needed and keep a small stock to resupply from. Unlike the eggsack its not able to gain new designs, that would have to be a new varient.

>>35934159
It is literally a way to have a drone use a tool without having to send specific variant drones every single time. Cuts down on the micromanaging directly.
Want to know how much micromanaging it takes? choosing the initial designed and then distributing it the first time, after that the DM can just hand wave any specialist tool use (as predefined) as one of these.

We send in a Pod ahead of time to watch for ships that head out that far.

How did Lyle set up his account and tie it to his FTLcomm string here then.
>>
>>35936480
You quickly designate a location in deep space just several light years from the system and submit.

WE ARE PROCESSING YOUR ORDER, THANK YOU FOR YOUR PURCHASE! YOU WILL BE CONTACTED WHEN THE SHUTTLE HAS BEEN LAUNCHED.

Now you suppose you just need to wait 3 to 5 business days. You have one of your corvettes at the ready to move out to retrieve it.

I think if we keep going we're going to die, so I think that's it for this week. If anyone has any drone/ship design or production now would be the time.
>>
>>35936682
Ah yeah.

We do need to expand the fleet to keep up with the Skyl.

Also building more docking pylons on the opposite side of the planet from the hive would probably be good, so we can eliminate the local one's heat signature and increase production capacity.

How about 4 of this much more balanced, and much better at point defense, Corvette?

>need to expand fleet

Should've nipped it in the bud. Then we wouldn't have needed to do this at all.
Now we have third major power to deal with, and it's only going to grow bigger.
I don't really understand why people let them free, now we can't control it.

Seconding the corvettes.

Also do we have costs for bigger ships?
>>
>>35936682
Can't we use quantum entanglement to destroy energy?
>>
>>35936682
You said the Skyl drive ship was about the size of a Battlecruiser?

What are the stats for Battlecruisers, you haven't posted that yet I think. They're the smallest capital ship?
>>
>>35936716
>965
The cost should be 465N there. But yeah.
>>
>>35936682
We could use more pods, as well as more corvettes.

5 pods?
>>
>>35936682
Do Corvettes and Frigates have different production times?

And only four can be constructed at once per Docking Pylon, right?
>>
>>35936754
At the moment it's 8 hive Corvettes + 4 Frigates vs. 15 very fat and clumsy "corvettes", 3 comparable ones, and a battlecruiser we want to capture alive.

So it's not completely clearcut who comes out on top here right now.
>>
>>35936682
Let's finally dump "shock troopers" as a class of drone and replace them with "kamikaze warriors". They keep the quantum brain and exploding glands, but rip out all the senses.

They're like half the cost of the drones. And nearby other, smaller drones can provide the same awareness bonus.
>>
>>35936906
We could've disabled it without destroying it with our superior numbers back then. Now instead of it being one sided, it's uncertain who comes out on top.
And their fleet is still growing.
What am I getting at here, is that it needs to be dealt with ASAP, while we still have superior production capabilities and ships.
>>
>>35936970
We didn't have the Frigates at the time, so it would have been 8 corvettes versus 15 clumsy corvettes plus the battlecruiser. I think the odds actually improved.
>>
>>35936716
Looking at the numbers, the number of Docking Pylons does seem to now be the bottleneck to fleet growth rather than nutrient income.
>>
>>35937002
Wait it had corvettes back then? Could've sworn it was just a battlecruiser. Nevermind me then.
>>
>>35937040
Well then let's do what that anon wrote, make more docking pylons on the other side of the globe. Unless it'd somehow stunt the production, then might 'swell just make them close to the hive.
>>
is QD kill?

>>35937061
Since if we filled all the current net nutrient income with corvettes, we could support about 100 corvettes if we wanted to.

And assuming it's 7 days until the next round of farms raises that cap further.

We could probably make 12 a day continuously, so we want 3 new docking pylons if we're eventually removing the current one.
>>
>>35937157
Wonder how far into the asteroid we are.
>>
>>35936682
Proposed actions:

>Build 4 Fleet Corvettes

Fleet Corvette
Hull: Corvette 400N 800M
Stealth field 50N 150M
Rapid damage control 15N 20M
Spinal: Linear particle beam 100M
Fixed: Railgun 40M
Turret: Cyclotron particle beam 50M
Aux: Auto Cannon (explosive ammo) 80M
Armor: Basic
Cost: 465M 965N
Upkeep: 232N
Size: 100 Meters

>Build 5 more space pods

>Build 3 new docking pylons (do you wish to build them on Leeland, in your asteroid mine, or elsewhere?)

>>35936792
The Battlecruiser comes in at about 300 meters, and yes, it is the smallest of the capital ships.

>>35936868
Correct. They do have differences in production times, but not much. Only 4 sub capitals can be built at a single docking pylon at once, or if it is in orbit, a single capital ship.

>>35937223
The asteroid still has plenty of resources remaining, but a great deal of space has been carved out at this point.
>>
>>35937283
Yes to pods.

Build the docking pylons on Leeland, but far from any hive.

Also I typoed the upfront cost there on the corvette.

Definitely build the corvettes, but maybe we should queue up more?

like 8 Fleet Corvettes, and 4 more of those Frigates we have?
>>
>>35937283
Build pylons on asteroid.
Let's get this party started.
So what's the basic cost of a battlecruiser hull? I'd like to see if we can get one out for eventual fight with skyl BC.
Yes to all.

And 2 more of these corvettes, and 2 more stealth frigates.
For a total of 6 fleet corvettes and 2 stealth frigates.
>>
>>35937283
Can we expand our asteroid mining operation? Mine out a few more asteroids.
>>
>>35937579
Your asteroid base is actually one of the largest and richest in the belt, but you can send out your corvettes to scour the system for minerals if you wish. The same applies to the other systems with sources of metal.
>>
>>35937579
When it hits a bottleneck, then maybe.

>>35937365
I dunno about building docking pylons in space until we QD explains the costs of the capital ships.

Can he post those?
>>
>>35937660
Even then, we can still build subcapital ships in space.
And nobody's going to detect those pylons on leeland even with full planet scan. Because they're not there.
>>
>>35937660
I'll have the capital ship details added to the pastebin this week.

In the meantime, it looks like it's a yes to the 4 Fleet corvettes and 5 space pods, with additional docking pylons being a maybe.
>>
>>35937660
Could we build the docking pylons in another system further away from human space? Should be safer that way and we keep our tech level hidden from the humans.
