You are Zokarth, the Eternal Storm! A dragon of scales purple, you are without a doubt the greatest beauty to grace the Earth. In the previous quest, shit went crazy. You lead a small group of your warriors to the destroyed town of Lotik, in search of GOLD supplies. After finding a bountiful amount of precious jewels, GOLD, silver, and supplies or whatever, you encountered host of Ghandaiee Tribesmen. Gifts were exchanged, you providing a large chest of silver, while the Tribesmen mistook you as a pet, and your follower Aranya as the leader and drake tamer. They presented and ancient egg, found buried in the sands. You felt a deep desire over take you, leaving Aranya to finish the dealings with the Tribesmen You few off to a secluded area, hills of varying hues, the earthly tones forming a sort of rainbow. Venvia also accompanied you, and you both attempted several means to hatch the egg. In a moment of inspiration, you touched the egg to the jewel which is embedded into your chest, which lead to immense pain, and vision of the Forgemaster. When you awoke to see the hatchling, Mazer, displaying its magik to a large host of drakes, who seem to have come from the hills. You yourself had obtained great powers as well, which you displayed to the host of drakes.

Things seem to be going well, until a large host of Vizziks, magik using drake hunters, and Thall soldiers arrived. To top things off, a Planeswalker arrived, which you decided to ride, for some fucking reason, while Mazer was on your back. The Vizzik, excluding Morgu and another wounded Vizzik, used their magik to also ride the Planeswalker. The epic fight about to ensue was interrupted by the Planewalkser teleporting to another dimension of sorts, with you, Mazer, and the Vizzik in tow.
>>
>>36041297
The Planewalker decided to teleport to ANOTHER battle, between humans and dwarves. You decided to be fucking awesome, and kill the Planeswalker, and a lot of bystanders, with your new powers. Now you are flying south, the general direction of the desert.

Welcome to Hoard Quest!

You are Zokarth the Eternal Storm. Your purple beauty soars through the heavens, providing all the filthy mortals below with your awe inspiring image. You catch a warm vent of air, and rise even higher. You lazily glide for a few moments thinking about everything going on.

Venvia, though she seems very friendly and kind, has a mysterious past. Once a large crystal, now a dragon, with knowledge of the Planewalkers. It does all sound unbelievable, and you were there for all those moments. Perhaps you should seek to undig her past, the mountain where you found her, now your lair, could contain the knowledge you seek. Though the tunnels you have explored run deep, you haven’t explored them all.

Mazer is also somewhat of a mystery. His egg was found buried deep under the sands, for time untold. He contains great magik, though you can’t really tell what it can do at the moment. Why is he magikal while the other dragons you have encountered lack any spark of magik? Technically they are called drakes, you have heard that term used exclusively, and have almost never used the term dragon used. That is another mystery in itself.

Now that you think about it, what is your host of drake followers doing? They were being lead back to the settlement by Venvia, is she an adequate leader? Aranya could help lead the settle- oh. No. You sort of left him at the camp of the Ghandaiee Tribesmen… with your GOLD… damn. No matter, the council you appointed should be able to handle the settlement. Will they overreact when they see the drakes? You did leave a large amount of warriors behind, what if a battle breaks ou-

“I’m hungry” Can a deep rumble from your back, like the slow grating of mountains. Oh, right, Mazer. Him and his damn deep voice. Still, his voice somehow seems small, that of a child.

The hatchling coughs, and seems to regain some formality, “Zokarth, I am just a mere hatchling, and I require sustenance. Since we have no rare metals or gems, these needs must be met by ‘natural means’. I am sure, you feel some sort of hunger too” As if on cue, a low grumble emits from your stomach. You actually have never eaten a meal, since you’re majestic power has always been able to obtain GOLD. Still, Mazer is right. To an extent.

“Worry not Mazer, I shall provide. Of course, our circumstances are not that for the usual hatching of a dragon”. You both share a small chuckle at recent events. “Food or bullion, we shall find it, youngone”. You find it ironic, since you too have only been in this world for a short time. Mazer seems content with your words though, and shifts on your back into a more comfortable position.

You look down below, and see a white landscape, high mountains and frozen valleys, all covered in silent trees. A river paints its blue way across the white land. To the west you think you might see smoke rising from the forest, perhaps a small village? You doubt northern savages would have vast amounts of GOLD, silver, or gems. While game might be scarce, the river might lead you to some large walking meals. Of course, you can always push onward.

You doubt any people you will meet out here will have enough GOLD for you or Mazer. You decide it’s about time you had a meal. You pull in your wings, and take a steep dive towards the river. You fall towards the forest, all the time your eyes dart back and forth, searching for movement. You pull up, this time you are much closer to the tree line, but still in the air, searching the ground for your meal. You’ll expect this might be difficult if you have to stalk on the ground, your brilliant purple scales would let even the stupidest prey to spot you.

Then you spot it, a quick dash through the underbrush. You quickly change your course, veering off to the right. You travel quickly, but you are surprised when you have to pick up the pace to keep up with whatever you are hunting. Suddenly, it’s gone. You gain altitude, perhaps it turned around quickly, but as you rise up, you see that your prey has entered into a thick clump of trees.

You think for a moment, but in light of any other prey, you decide to land. You make a steep dive, your wings exploding out at the last moment, slowing your suicidal decent, allowing you to land softly on the snow. You can spot the clump of trees your prey has entered. The trees of the forest are old, but stand far apart, except for this part, where the trees form tight ranks, trying to keeping the snow out. You keep low to the ground, and dart from tree to tree. As you stalked the thick area of trees, it grew darker, the branches high above form a mesh to block out the sun. In the dark, you stuck out from the vegetation worse than you feared. You can hear the sounds of birds in the distance, your own breath, the lighter breathing of Mazer, and even the creaking of trees. You hear nothing else, the snow acting to muffle all sounds. The darkness and silence made the forest much less hospitable than it was before.

You start to doubt you will catch your prey, when you spot.. light? You still stick low to the ground, slowly approaching the light. Suddenly, you reach the edge of a clearing, and see a strange sight. The clearing is carpeted in strange purple flowers, who dare use YOUR color! That is not what draws your attention though, it seems you have found your prey, a stag, that seemed to glow. It’s white fur emitted a soft light, while it’s blue eyes drifted around the clearing.

Mazer whispers softer than the wind in your ear, “Though I am but a hatchling, I do not think deer are suppose to look like that”. It is a strange sight indeed.
“Perhaps the glow means it taste better”, you whisper back jokingly.

The stag slowly lowers its head, sniffing the odd purple flowers, but it does not eat them. It is an oddly beautiful sight.

What shall you do?

You settle into the snow, the cold never bothered you. Mazer seems to understand that there is going to be a wait, so he too grows still. The stag seems to repeat the same action several times, it would walk to one flower, sniff it, then walk over to the next and sniff that one. It didn’t seem to be interested in eating them, like a normal deer would.

You grow sort of bored just watching the supposedly magikal deer, your eyes grew heavy, and your thoughts start to drift.

Suddenly, the Stag’s head bolted up, it’s eyes darting back and forth widely. At first you thought it had spotted you, but surprisingly you blended it nicely with the purple flowers. Instead, the stag faces the west. It was until this moment that you noticed the bird song has stopped, as well as the natural sounds of the forest, the creaking of trees, the snapping of branches under the weight of too much snow. There was only silence. A silence so thick, you can feel it soak into your bones.

You feel like you must break the silence, or it will break you, a small panic grows in your chest. It is at this moment that the Glowing deer, your only source of light, darts of to the east, at that surprising speed it had earlier. Before you even realize it, you are in complete darkness. The darkness and silence crushing down on you.

You and Mazer don’t even make any noise, you both hold your breath. There is something, to the west, you can’t hear it, you can’t see it, but you know it is making its way towards you.

Your instinct is to move, to run along the ground, but mostly to fly. The thick canopy above you could prove a challenge, stopping you from reaching the sky and the sun, and maybe even damaging your wings.

What shall you do?

Should you run? Should you fight? The only logical option would be to flee. In any direction. “Zokarth, we must hurry! Do you not feel what is coming?” Mazer frantically whispers into your ear.
The logical option. You are Zokarth! You exist on a plane of understanding higher than anyone else! To flee would be to do exactly what the horrifying presence coming to eat your soul would want you to do!
“Ha! Logic!” You exclaim in a loud voice, breaking the silence. Them seems to anger the presence? It comes towards you more quickly. You can feel the defiance well up in your chest, the magik, it flows into your crystal, as it grows in powers you rip it out, and it flows into your maw. You call out to the dark, “I AM ZOKARTH! I am thunder, light, and power! I fear no darkness”.

You unleash the Arcane Beam, the steam of purple and cyan cut through the shadows. Literally cut through them , it was not darkness, but some sort of actual living shadow, the magik burned and cut its way through the mass, until it seemed to hit the presence. There is a boom, a shockwave which throws the shadows apart, once separated from the mass of darkness they quickly disintegrate. The shockwave cleared away the shadows, like they were a heavy mist, and revealed the presence. It is a giant, it’s head was near the top of the ancient trees, it’s face is strange, and angular, were two eyes, like fallen moons stare at you. It’s humanoid body moved on all fours, with disturbingly elongated arms and legs, you wonder how such a large creature can move through the densely packed trees. There is a mane around it’s strange face, but its entire body, excluding its eyes, are as black as the shadows which once surrounded it.
>>
>>36043206
With its cloak of darkness removed, the creature simply stood there. Its eyes bored into you, glazing over your soul. It didn’t move a muscle, but simply stared, you are captivated by its eyes, you can’t break eye contact.

From the corner of your vision, you can see that the shadows seem to be pulled from the surroundings, slowly wrapping themselves around the creature. “Perhaps it is time to go” Mazer states matter of factly, his words break your trance, you shake your head, finally able to look away from those eyes. You don’t respond, but simply dart off in the direction of the stag. As you dart through the trees, you put all your efforts into moving, you don’t even look back.

Far off into the distance, you can see the light of the stag, no longer suffocated by the darkness. You try and try to catch it, but it seems to elude you, gracefully moving between the trunks of the trees. After what seems like eons, but it truly only a couple of minutes, you are about the catch the stag, it is only several meters ahead of you, when it bounds behind a tree, and is suddenly gone. In front of you is a only a pond, of strangely blue coloration, you stand on the edge, having to quickly stop your dead on sprint. In a panic, you whip around looking for that small light.

There, closer than it was before, it the creature. It is a bit closer than it was before, but still, it just stands there, its eyes locked on yours. There are more shadows cloaking it, and as you watch, they slowly inch their way towards those eyes, always seeing. You feel a small dread, a great panic. You know that when you can no longer see its eyes, it is over. You don’t truly know this, but you feel it, in that part of you that wishes to flee. You take one panicked step backwards, then another, and another. As the shadows wash over the eyes of the creature, you stumble, and are washed over by blue waves, it seems you have fallen in the pond.

At first, you struggle with the cool water, try to surface, but you can be yourself being pulled down, Mazer desperately clings to your back. Then you remember the water magik you have been practicing. The water is always flowing, and you cannot fight it, you relax, and let the currents carry you under.

Strangely, you surface, but things are not the same. The darkness of the forest is replaced by a soft blue glow, coming from...everywhere. The trees are replaced by columns of ice, and a unnaturally straight stream feeds into the pond you are floating in, the water blue, with streams of light in them.

Off in the distance, you can see the light of the stag, except.. it is not the same shape, it looked more humanoid? Like a woman?

The water is not warm, or cold, simply… soothing..

What shall you do?

You quickly make your way to the edge of the pool, moving your tail side to side in the water for propulsion. Pulling yourself out of the soothing waters, you feel much better, especially after seeing that terrifying creature.

You shake yourself on, throwing Mazer around on your back a bit. He jumps of deciding to actually move around on his own for once, the freeloader. You head over to the pool of water, and hesitantly take a drink from the water. Well, it’s definitely not water, but it doesn’t seem to harm you either. In fact, you feel rejuvenated, and though you still have hunger, you feel satisfied to an extent, like how sleeping on your GOLD can satisfy your hunger.

AE[20/30]

As you both make your way through the ...forest? You ask Mazer a question, “Any idea where we are?”
“I assume we are either dead, or in the spirit world”, his deep voice resounding through the forest.
“Could we not be dead and also in the spirit world?” Ha! You don’t actually care, but his logic is so easily contradicted! You are a smart dragon, it’s why you’re in charge.
“I guess.. well damn it Zokarth” The smaller dragon huffs in annoyance.
You chuckle quietly, “Do not worry Mazer, I simply jest. When this is done we shall feast like none have feasted before, and damned if it will be upon spirits, deer, humans or inky black abominations, we will have our prize!... maybe it has food..."
“In light of recent events, provoking additional spir-” The deep voice of Mazer is cut off by laughter in the distance.
>>
>>36043765
You both sink down to the ground, and make your way towards the laughter. The terrain suddenly changed, the columns of ice and stone ground giving way to lush forest ground and real trees. Under a tree with bulbous outcrops filled with light, several spirits seem to be in commune. You sit at the edge of the clearing and can barely make out their words. Perhaps you could sneak closer, to hear them better.

From this far though, you can make out the spirits. They seem to be a group of animals, humanoids, and even mixes of the two. They sit on the roots of the trees, with harps, and goblets of wine. You can seem the glowing woman spirit you have been following at the edge of the group.

To you, there is only one obvious thing to do. You rise up and saunter your way over to the party.
“Zokarth! Zokarth, what are you doing?” Mazer calls out frantically behind you. Seeing that it is pointless, the small hatchling hesitantly followers after you.

The two of you make your way over to the party, you leading Mazer straight over to a table laden heavily with foods and drinks. The music and talk slowly dies out, as the spirits all spot you. You lap at a cup of wine, mazer using his wings to hop up on the table. “ A bit too bitter for my taste”, you comment absentmindedly, Mazer nodding in agreement. Next you move onto the food, several boars are laid out on the table, on a bed of vegetables, there were several portions already dealt out onto plates. You control yourself, and take slow bites of the savory meat, “Expertly salted”, you comment to Mazer.
“Tenderly roasted”, the hatchling replies back to you. You both nod, and continue to devour the tasty meat. As you lick your maws, you hear a cough behind you. You turn around and see all the spirits looking at you with curiosity

“Quite rude to simply barge into a party, and partake in food and drink without permission”, comments one of the spirits, a wolf, with blue eyes and white fur, “Do you have invitations?”

Though they do not seem hostile, the spirits actually seem like it is an offense for you, ZOKARTH, to help yourself without introductions.
>>
>>36044854

“Invitations?” The deep voice of Mazer breaks the silence, “We need no invitations! This is Zokarth the Eternal Storm! Lord of the people of Lotik! Savior of drakes! I am his loyal follower, Mazer the Endless Sands!”

This seems to prompt another awkward silence, until the wolf starts to laugh, the other spirits joining in. “Travelers” The spirit says in between bursts of laughter, “You may take the appearance of Dragons, but there is no need to ACT like them!” This draws out another round of laughter from the spirits. “Ah, but I must ask you, why are you here?”

You take a sip of wine, as if to prepare yourself for a response. These spirits, strange and careless things. You find it unsettling that they would consider any dragons as being pretenders, are they all gone? Are the drakes all that remain? No, there is you and Mazer, that at least it true.

But you must think of something quick, best not to anger spirits in their own court, where they are most powerful

After taking your long drink of wine, you finally decide to address these lowly spirits. “We take on the appearance of Dragons, and act like Dragons, for we are Dragons”. You flare your wings out behind you, arching your back and craning your neck, a truly beautiful display. Beside you, Mazer crudely mimics you.

This seems to wipe the mirth from the faces of the spirits, while some laugh even more. The wolf in front of you seems to take this the most serious, “Show yourself”, it says with a low growl, and a wave of its paw. Both you and Mazer seem to shift shapes, caused by the magik of the spirit. You both grow to larger sizes, towering over the spirits, You lack any defining features, but you are a glowing purple and cyan spirit, while Mazer is orange and yellow.

You don’t maintain the same shapes as your bodies, instead it’s as if only the shape is kept. You don’t have a face, your scales can’t be seen, but you have a shape which could not be mistaken as anything but a dragon.

“Dragons” the whispers and gasps can be heard through the crowd of spirits, some break down crying, most likely because of your beauty, while others seem to laugh with joy.

“This is truly a great day!” The wolf exclaimed, “We thought the Dragons were all gone! The drakes -” The Wolf is cut off by an explosion. That explosion being you. The purple light that is you bursts out, dying as it leaves you. Much like the shadows died as they left the beast they cloaked. You are stripped of what you thought was your spirit, and all that remains… is the Gem.

It is the gem impeded in your chest, the source of pain and power. It glows a milion beautiful colors, flooding the clearing. It drowns out the light from the tree that most of the spirits seem to be sitting on.
>>
>>36045400
You … are still alive. You are the Gem. you float at about head height of Mazer, which is well above the pitiful spirits. You can hear the faint calls of… voices…

The smile the wolf once had, was replaced with horror, “No..” it said, slowly taking a step back, panic in its eyes, “The Hoard” is all it whispers before it runs. The other spirits seem to already be running. Not the type of fleeing with screams and horror, but one that is silent. The fleeing of those is absolute terror.

Before you can even register what is going on, the clearing is empty, devoid of all spirits, only you and Mazer remain. Without the magik of the spirits nearby, you seemed to have return to your normal beautiful self. Though, you are slightly confused. “I’m not… exactly sure what happened”. You comment. Mazer simply nods.

What shall you do?

Well this entire trip to the forest has been unsettling. The creature which roams the forest in the real world is terrifying, you grow nervous thinking of confronting it again. While the spirits seem to be terrified of YOU. Which is alright, you are a powerful and beautiful creature, but you don’t understand why they are so terrified of you.

What does the recent events reveal about..you?
Your soul, your spirit, isn’t normal. If it were normal, you would simply take on the shape of a dragon, instead, you became the Gem. The Gem which is embedded in your chest. The one which seems linked to the Forgemaster somehow. These just leads to more and more questions.

Oh well, food and drink await! “Come Mazer, someone went through all this preparation, it would be an insult to let it all go to waste!” You call out, making your way to the feast.

“Do you not think it unwise to stay here? Perhaps we should return..” Mazer says, casting looks around the clearing.

“Nonsense! Come, you said you were hungry!” You say, as you tear into a whole boar, the honeyed flesh dancing on your taste buds. Mazer sighs, he knows arguing with you is pointless, and he too joins in the feast.

You two make quick work of the meal, and curl up underneath the tree of light, “Let us rest here, Mazer” You say in between yawns, “We shall return to our journey shortly”. Mazer doesn’t respond, alright asleep beside you. You too, feel the sleep wash over you. One thought surfaces before you slip into the black of sleep. Is it wise to rest here? Who cares, you are Zokarth.
>>
>>36045994
You dream of strange things, shadows, armies clashing against each other, Dragons soaring over the sky, slaughtering those opposing them.

You awake to a single horn, ringing out around you. You jump to your feet, Mazer doing the same, around you is a host of spirits, dryads, towering above the rest, fae with antlered helms atop elk, beasts of different sizes between them. The wolf is at the front, in bronze armor with green engravings, he stands on its hind legs like a man.

“You must leave our realm! You corrupt it with your presence! We will not stand you being here any longer! Leave, I say, or die.”

Despite being awaken so rudely, you feel the rest washed away and strength returning

AE [25/30]

You slowly look around, they seem to outnumber you greatly. Then again, you are Zokarth! Who do they think they are? Still… They are many

It seems it was not wise to rest here after all.

You shift your weight, they don’t seem extremely hostile, just defensive. Perhaps you can aska question without losing your head, “What is The Hoard?” You call out, you voice breaking the silence of the now militarized spirits.

The leader, the wolf spirit, solemnly shook his head, simply pointing at the gem in your chest, “Such is the nature of The Hoard, your fate is to not know”. With that, the wolf waved his paw, motioning towards his troops, “Escort them to the gates” A good of mounted Fae surrounded you, escorting you towards the gates of the spirit realm. Cast a glance behind you, you see the somber scene of the forest spirits, armed, standing by their tables of food and drink, all untouched. The wolf stared after you, his gaze unbroken until you stepped back into the stone floor, the warm trees of light replaced by columns of ice. To your surprise you don’t head back to the pond, but actual gates. A large stone arch, as cold as the landscape around it. Out of the corner of your eye, you can see darting light, but it is once again blocked by your escort. Perhaps it was the spirit you saw first. The journey is in silence, until you reach the gates, where the fae and their mounts form a line at the edge off, watch you makes your way back to the land of mortals, perhaps where you belong.

One moment, the land is blue and cold, now it is simply white and cold, you stand beyond the thicket of trees, in what you guess is the normal forest. Perhaps it is your imagination, but you swore you could see two pinpoints of light, staring out from in between the dense trunks.

Well, you did obtain food, but things did take a turn for the unexpected. What shall you do?

Well, this land has brought nothing but frustration. You spread your wings, welcoming the warmth the real sun provides. Your tense your body, prepared to take off, when Mazer coughs. You stop yourself in mid pounce, allowing the smaller dragon to climb onto your back. This time, you soar into the sky uninterrupted. The white landscape is quickly shrinks below you, as you make powerful strokes with your wings, quickly leaving the forest behind. As you gain altitude, you take a breath, at least in the skies you are in control.

It feels good to have this sort of freedom again. On the ground you are constrained in motion, the trunks of the forest making movement difficult for you. Here in the sky, you can move in any direction you wish, up, down, side to side. It is soothing, familiar.

A wicked grin splits your face as an idea enters your mind. “Mazer!” You call out, the hatchling shifts as you call his attention, “Do you know how to fly?”

“I’m afraid I haven't found the time since my hatching, what with the beast slaying, spiriting fighting, and all that normal stuff”.

“Well, would you like to?” You have to raise your voice as the wind picks up.

“Of course!” The deep voice of the hatchling responded logically, “Every Dragon sho-” He does get to say much more, as you interrupt him.

“Good!” You say with a grin on your face, you quickly do a barrel roll, dumping the young dragon off of your back. You hear a surprised squeak, as the young Dragon falls. You laughing, for you are Zokarth, and you are a very funny Dragon. You still keep a watchful eye on the young one though, despite the fact that he has a lot of time to spread his wings before the cruel mistress of gravity left its mark.
(1/4?)
>>
>>36047888
For a few seconds, Mazer simply falls, he tries once, then twice, and finally a third time to push his wings out, to stop his descent. On the third try he succeeds, wobbly drifting in the air. You can see that Mazer experimentally flaps his wings once or twice, hesitant at first. Mazer seems to be a confident young one, his wings starting a steady beat, rising to your altitude . Like all Dragons, he is a natural at flight.

You lazily drift down as he flies up. Once you two are next to each other, Mazer shakingly steadies into your rhythm does he look over to you, “Arse”.

You throw your head back in laughter, and instead of saying anything, you pick up the pace, leading the hatchling south.

You are both two brilliant flashes of light above white landscape. Below you, the snow you have grown accustomed to seeing. You spend several hours just flying, enjoying the warm air vents, and clear skies. Mazer seems to lag behind after about the fifth hour, at which point you call out, “You can fly behind me, and rest in the slipstream, or you can land on my back and rest”.

The resilient hatchling says nothing as he drifts behind you, resting on your slipstream. Mazer has to flap his wings must less, and at some points he can simply drift on the excess thrust you produce.
(2/4?)

>>36047914
You’ve noted several villages below you, but they are small settlements, not worth your time at all. The thing you find encouraging though is that the frequency of the settlements is increasing, usually a sign that you are heading towards more hospitable lands. Oddly enough, the air is still as frigid as before you started your journey. You see some sleeping mountains in front of you, blanketed in soft snow. Beyond them you can see black clouds, storm clouds?

“Mazer! You have proven a strong flyer, I am quite proud of you, but there are storm clouds ahead, and they can prove dangerous, even for me”. The young dragon struggled to reach above your back, and slowly lowered himself onto your back, where he collapsed on your back, panting in exhaustion.

Very quietly you hear a deep voice say, “Thank you Zokarth. Flying was magnificent”. You don’t say anything, but a small smile appears on your face. That smile is gone as you near the mountains. The black clouds you saw are not siege clouds, but smoke. You pick up your pace, cautious of what is to come. Using a convenient warm air vent you gain altitude. With heavy beats of your wings you rise above a small range of mountains, and before you is the cause of the smoke.

Far away, perhaps several more hours of travel, is another range of mountains, much larger than the ones you are looking over. They will be a challenge to scale. Nestled in nearest set of mountains though is a large and expansive city. It stretches out below out, hugging the mountain. A sound strategy, building a city into the mountain means you have to build less walls, a natural one is provided. The said walls, though large, are under strain. An army is besieging the city, using a wide range of constructed weapons, they fling massive spears and rocks at the walls, while other weapons sling balls of flame over the wall, onto the city. The buildings within the city are alight, that would be the source of smoke you have seen. Inside the city, you can see groups of people frantically trying to put out the fire, they use everything they could get their hands on, buckets of water, snow, even dirt are flung onto the hungry blaze.

The terrain outside the wall is a collection of burnt buildings. You assumed the defenders burnt down the surrounding suburbs so that they have a clear line of fire on any enemies who would approach the wall. Aforementioned enemies make an impressive host. The soldiers are arranged in large blocks of shining metal armor, spears and shields glittering in the sun. As The vast majority standby looking at the battle, waiting for something, several siege towers make their way towards the walls. The defenders respond in kind with flaming arrows and ballistas.
4/5
>>
>>36047976
Suddenly, the hail of fire coming from the besiegers concentrated on one point, do they see something you cannot? After several minutes of a brutal vollies, a loud crack reaches even you, high above the sky. As the fire continued, one section of the wall collapsed, slowly at first, then at an unstoppable pace, an impressive amount of sliding stone and bodies. Those defenders on that section of the wall didn’t even have time to flee.

A great cheer rises from the masses of steel, now you understand what they were waiting for. With commanders calling out, the large blocks of soldiers made their orderly way towards the breach.

Mortals. Always stuck in their pointless wars. You came to this northern land in the middle of a battle, and in less than a day (has it been a day? How long were you in the spirit world? A day? A week? A month?) Should you intervene? Perhaps the city dwellers are cruel and evil people, hoarding the food of the north, letting others starve. Perhaps the attackers are righteous people, uniting the people of this cruel land for a better life? They will most likely pillage and rape their way through the city streets, which will run red with blood. Then again, the concerns of mortals were never your worries. You are Zokarth! You have your own people to care about.

What shall you do?

What you find the most interesting of everything, are the people in the city. Even as their enemies descend upon them, they still fought the fires. Why? As things are currently going, their houses will be lost, most likely with their lives as well. Why do they care? They should flee, or arm themselves for a bloody fight. The besiegers make their war towards the breach, from the walls, arrows and bolts rain down. Find breaches in the armor of the soldier's armor.

In response to the damage being dealt, the large blocks of troops split into smaller sizes, the smaller groups of troops brought their shields up in an overlapping maneuver, the moving blocks of shields and steel better protected the advancing troops.

But it would seem that there is still much left to this battle, the horns and cries of the besiegers are answered by the defenders, who rallied their forces. Long streams of troops, similarly garbed to the defenders, flowed out of the breach in the wall, the gate also opened, spewing forth more troops. Though both sides wore heavy plates of steel for protection, the banners and weapons are quite distinct. The Besiegers use tower shields and spears, while the defenders used a mix of axes and swords, with shields varying from buckler size to full round shields.

As the defenders sallied forth, the besiegers increased the fire of their siege weapons, which hailed down projectiles on the defenders, though they are highly inaccurate, they killed multiple warriors when they found their mark.

(1/6?)
>>
>>36050814
Suddenly, a large pillar of ice crashed into one of the siege engines, silencing it. Robed figures have made their way atop one of the towers, where they summoned pillars of ice from thin air, larger than small houses, hurling them down upon the enemy. They took out entire echelons of the attackers, but for each one they crushed, two more took its place.

From the middle of the attacking army, soldiers, standing out from among the others by the color of their armor and banners, hurled fire balls at the wizards of the city. These soldiers wore black robes under their armor, while the “common” soldiers wore red under their armor.

A beautiful show of sparkling ice and crackling fire developed in the sky. Still, the attacked advanced.

As the two sides readied themselves to meet, you decided now was the time to intervene. Mazer, tired from his flight, has said very little, but he groaned as he felt you shift your weight, “Please tell me you aren’t -” his words are cut off by the howling wind as you descended towards the shrinking no-man’s land. You let loose a deep roar, silencing the yells of the soldiers. Both sides grew quiet as you fell from the heavens, the arrows, rocks, fire, and ice all stopped, as you landed gracefully between the two armies. You craned your neck and displayed your cyan wings. Both armies stopped and simply stared. Perhaps like so many, they have fallen victim to your beauty.

You waited for several moments, awaiting the delegates from each side. Perhaps half an hour passed before you realized both sides are just standing there, “I am Zokarth the Eternal Storm! Send forth your leaders, mortals!” You commanding voice boomed over the battlefield.

Now the armies started to talk, in confusion and wonder,
“A talking drake!”
“What does it want?”
“Look at the crystal on that thing!”
“Should we be scared?”

From the defenders, a group detached themselves, these warriors all carried large round shields, with beautiful armor of of chained mail. The group of warriors marched out to about half the distance, and then a man, at least a head above any other mortal on the battlefield, walked forth. A bear of a man, his voice called out, “ I am Beowulf! King of Geats!” His soldiers gave forth a mighty battle cry, and with that, the king made his way towards you.

From the attacker, another group made its way towards you, These warriors were the black robed magik casters you saw before. This group also marched about half the distance, and then one man, with golden engravings on his steel armor stepped forth, he wore no helmet, but was not physical distinct man, but he had dark, seeing eyes, his voice called out, “ I am Marcus Curtius! General of the Imperial Northern Army!”, the men behind him cheered his name, he too made his way towards you.

With both leaders before, you, Mazer hopped off your back, “This is Zokarth the Eternal Storm, leader of the people of Lotik, and savior of Drakes! I am Mazer the of the Endless Sands. You are both graced to be in the presence of my lord”.

The Geat, King Beowulf, pounded his hand to his chest, in a form of some salute, “I, Beowulf, King of Geats, welcome you, Lord Zokarth, to the city of Gothenburg!” You like this one, he is a warrior, you nod your head in greetings.
Marcus on the other hand, simply says, “What do you want?”

You cock your head in thought, “MORTALS!” Your voice rings out, so that all, from the Imperial soldiers, to those still in the city, could hear your magnificent speech, “You fight, and die. For what? For Ideology? Because one man has a little more food than the other? War can bring glory and greatness, but must you always partake in it? War is a necessity at times, but other times, it is because old men grow too greedy, and send the young off to die! Peace is always an option! So I ask you, must you fight this battle?”

The battlefield is silent, both sides look on, expecting something. Something more? Beowulf is the first to speak, “Lord Zokarth, your words are true, peace is -” He is cut off by the general.

“Ha! Peace? Do you know why I fight? Because the Senate and the Emperor decreed I must! I will win, no matter the cost!” His voice is heard by many as well, another silence falls onto the battlefield. The General, angered by your speech, prepares to speak again, when he is suddenly cut off by a series of screams.

His bodyguard of mages, have become horrid and disfigured. Horrible wounds sprouted additional limbs, and teeth fell out to be replaced with fangs. Their screams of pain became roars of anger. These roars were echoed from far off. Looking to the tower, you could see that the Geat mages were also turning.

You knew what this is. Your knowledge of the world might be fragmented, but there is no mistaking what is happening before you. Demons. For mortals, demons are always lurking around when they use magik. They are drawn to it, they seek it. Mortal magik users have souls very close to the Ether, the realm of demons. They must be constantly vigilant, for if they let their guard too greatly when using magik, they leave their souls open for the demons to attack. That does not explain what is happening, even such a massive battle would not draw in such demons, so many should not fall to demons at once.

Marcus watched on in horror as his own mages turned on his troops with a blood lust, flinging fire and blood, they killed many, and with wicked blades their cut and chopped their way through troops. They took blows which would have killed 10 mortal men, but kept on killing, drinking the blood, laughing crazily in the delights of flesh.

Beowulf clinched his fist, the moment the demons turned, ruins surrounding him vanished, “My wards! I had a mage cast wards of protection on me before i approached. That explains why he must have turned” as the king spoke, cries and screams echoed from the tower, “ but that does not explain why you why your entire body guard turned!” The large man yelled, pointing a finger accusingly at the General.

Marcus did not even turn. Off in the distance, the tower of Gothingburg exploded in stunning sapphire flames. “ I guess that is one way to kill a demon”, Mazer remarked beside you. Burning mortar and stones hailed down on the defenders, but you doubt many died.. except the mages.

Marcus spoke, his words barely heard above the screams of his soldiers, “I had to win. There was no other option, and I was willing to pay any price”, a single tear rolled down his cheek. His eyes were dead, a soulless man, most likely in the literal sense. “Soon, the demon lord will come, to claim the rest of his debt”. Speak of the devil, a large pit tore its way out of the ground, filled with fire and brimstone, screams of the tortured came from the wound of the ground “All this, to fling some fireballs, fight longer than normal men, and to live.. to fight six more battles” The General stopped staring off into the distance and locked eyes with you, with those soulless eyes, “It would seem, My Lord Zokarth, you have ended my sixth battle early”.

Beside you, Beowulf drew a sword in one hand, and an ax in the other, Mazer had colored smoke spill out from his maw. You simply stood there, curious as to what will come.

“MEN!” Marcus said as suddenly turned around, drawing his sword, “REMEMBER! I DID THIS FOR THE EMPEROR! FOR THE EMPIRE!” his voice carried over the entire battle field, louder than yours, put more desperate as well, the words of a dead man. “ THE DEMON DEMANDS THE MOST PRECIOUS THING OF POLIS! REMEBER! ARMS AND COURAGE ARE THE MOST PRECIOUS THING OF POLIS!” With that, the insane General ran head on into the pit, “FOR THE EMPEROR” On his lips as the flame swallowed him. With the supposed debt claimed, the wound of the earth healed over, the pit sealing itself as if it never existed.

“Well, he might have been insane, but the General had a gift for dramatic” The deep voice of Mazer breaking the silence, like sand against ancient stones.

The silence never really existed, for though the speech of Marcus Curtius took something of this world with it, the screams of terror still came from the Imperial army. You glanced over at Mazer, before lifting high into the sky with your powerful wings. Soon, you could see the entire battlefield, the city still burned, as did the tower with its cold blue flames. You looked down at the carnage brought about by the greed of one man. You felt the magik filled the Gem, or did it fill you? You drew it towards your maw, the light dancing on your beautiful purple scales.

“I AM ZOKARTH THE ETERNAL STORM! I NEED NOT SELL MY SOUL FOR POWER!” You let the magik fly, the pure arcane power bit into the ground tearing the demons apart, burning their wrongness from this dimension. Though you killed some Imperial Soldiers in the process, it would have take countless more the bring those abominations down.

>I NEED NOT SELL MY SOUL FOR POWER

A deep scar runs along the red stained ground, filled with the ashes of things that should never exist on this plane. Soldiers pick themselves up from the carnage, stumbling away from the mounds of bodies that the demons were able to create in such a short time.

The survivors looked at you with awe and fear in their eyes. Slowly you made your way back to the ground. landing back near Mazer and Beowulf. The Giant warrior have a glint of respect in his eyes. You cleared your throat, bringing down absolute destruction can be tasking.

As always, I will stick around a bit for comments, questions, or critique.

Sorry for the long wait guys, hope the post was worth it

On one hand, I feel like we should have had the opportunity to choose what to do for some of that stuff.

On the other hand, I have doubts of us voting to do anything actually intelligent.

For a second there, I thought the Hoard was thinning the realm between the mortal world and the demons.

I liked it overall but the thread really seemed to be out of our hands, I guess
The longer posts are fine. I hope we get back to base soonish though
Any idea when you're running next?

shhhhhhhhh no one needs to know

Well this wasn't intended to be a big battle, it was just the result of the crits/fails. Really this was suppose to be a diplomatic thing.

I guess I could have stopped at one point, and said do you kill the demons y/n? or just run away.

With the 20 for Zokarth, I assumed that everyone would have just voted to kill the demons.

Well I'm glad you like it, I'll try to give you guys more control

You just made the options that sort of result in less choice I guess.

Waiting at the court of the spirits, there wasn't much to expect. You can't honestly expect for a lone spirit to come back and offer you a mission after they all ran off.

You were sort of just forced out because the rolls were shit

It happens sometimes

I'm not exactly sure when I'll be running next, but I'll defiantly say when on my twitter
