PREVIOUSLY ON MAGICAL GIRL LIBERTY: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Magical+Girl+Liberty

“The Sparrow will stand by under the cover of darkness and the clouds. Stealth systems are not as sophisticated as they are on the Kleine Fraulein so I’d advise you exercise a bit of speed, Liberty. Once the Nazis are in place, we’ll spring the trap, and hopefully we’ll be able to take down the Magisch Korps for good right then and there. Got it?”

That was what Operator #5 told you over the phone on the Zep ride over to the observatory in Virginia. So far, it rings and echoes in your mind like a bad alarm clock. Still, it’s useful to remember that you got friends watching over you.

There are several girls watching over you including Cyclone, Nightlight, Fortress, and Stringer. A few other girls have made the drive over to the site in preparation as well, disguised ingeniously amongst the vegetation.

All that was left to make sure the exchange went well. Just in case they escaped with the Shard, a tracker was hidden inside the case it was planted in. Engelhardt, Knives, and Saragarhi were in the prison hold waiting for the exchange as well, under extreme guard.

That left you, Rana, and Anneliese to make the exchange.

For Sumire’s life.

You sigh, lying back on your bed. You look over to your picture of Sumire, her in that cute little violet dress you bought her. She doesn’t smile, and in fact she was giving the camera a very mean stare, but you thought it was cute. She didn’t.

Knives presses her face up against the glass, grinning madly. “Lady Liberty, it’s lovely to see you again! I missed the warm scent of your hair and your blood!” She takes a huge whiff, sighing in bliss. The bulletproof screen between you and her is enough to keep her out, and yet at the same time, you just don’t feel safe enough. “Oooh… if I could just wrap my hands around your little neck and then strangle you I would be so so happy and relieved!”

You nod. “Yeah, nice to see you too.” You move on.

“Don’t you walk away from me! If you walk away I’ll fuck you in the ass so hard you’ll be coughing up fingers!” she screams.

You decide to pass up Saragarhi. There’s nothing really to say to her considering she’s still using her bed to bash against the indestructible glass wall. Nothing can break through it.

Finally though, you meet with Engelhardt. She smirks, standing behind the wall. “Ah, come for another puppet show, Lady Liberty?”

You shake your head. “I’m just making sure you don’t do anything funny before we make this exchange.”

“Oh, why would I jeopardize my own freedom?” She tilts her head. “After all, I am in here by choice. Every minute of being closer to the Shard sends a lovely tingle down my spine.” She shivers happily, giggling a bit. “Anyway, Lady Liberty, I’m surprised you would agree to this exchange.”

You nod. “I know your reputation, Engelhardt. The Witch of Walpurgis Night. Slaughtered hundreds of Jews, purged half of the Anti-Magisch Korps and folded it into your own.” You cross your arms, glaring at her. “I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who’s killed as many people as you.”

She shrugs. “Wait until you meet the average Japanese soldier. The slants are as savage as the newspapers say.” She narrows her eyes a bit. “So, why make this exchange? I never thought there would be anything so important to you that you would let me walk in exchange for it.”

You cross your arms, continuing to glare at her.

“Hm?” She stands on the tip of her toes, looking at you amusedly. “Not much of a talker, I see. I suppose I will have to ask later when I am back with Korps.” She walks over to her bed, yawning a bit. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, Lady Liberty, I will be taking a nap before we go.” She lies back, then shuts her eyes, still with that smug smile on her face.

Ugh, you can’t handle that smug in her tone. You’d prefer to have Knives over this.

“Ooooh, Lady Liberty!” Knives tugs on her unbuttoned blouse, revealing a bit of black and pink lace. “Perhaps you and I would like some alone time together? Perhaps a bit of this and that and a little bit of the spanking board as well?”

On second thought, maybe not.

The ship’s intercom buzzes. “Liberty to the bridge, Liberty to the bridge.”

> Go find Rana and Anneliese first.

You open up Anneliese’s room to see the two of them deep in thought over a game of chess. You’re about to say something, but Anneliese stops you dead with a gesture of her hand. Fine, you won’t interrupt, plenty of time before the raid anyway. You cross your arms as Anneliese moves her pawn forward. She taps the timer, allowing Rana to move.

And Rana simply moves her Queen past everything. “Checkmate!” she says happily.

Anneliese slaps the board, scattering the pieces all over the room. She furiously glares at Rana, crossing her arms and pouting. “Jeez, Anneliese,” you say as you walk over. “No need to be a sore loser.”

Rana looks up at you, ignoring everything that just happened. “Shouldn’t you be up at the bridge?”

“It can wait,” you say. “I just wanted to see if you two were ready for tonight.”

Rana gives you a thumbs up. “Ready! We’re just mulling things over with a game of chess. Well…” She looks at the pieces on the floor. “Were, but all the same.”

Anneliese nods. “You got lucky.”

> “You might as well come with me to the bridge.”

You quickly sweep the chess pieces under Anneliese’s bed. “Right. You two better come with me to the bridge, you might as well.” They stand up, stretching and yawning. It’s quite late at night, this is normally the hour at which you’d be deep in sleep. But that’s for a good day, this is not a good day.

“So,” says Rana. “What did they want you on the bridge for?”

-

-

Jock continues peering through the windows of the gondola, concerned. “Chris, we’ve got an issue. We just got word from the krauts that they want a very specific kind of exchange,” he says.

You nod. “What kind?”

He sighs. “The observatory is a landmark for us, um…” He scratches the back of his head. “Basically, we’re going to fly our Zep alongside theirs, and they’re going to drop gangplanks. Let the switch happen.”

Rana blinks. “We’re going to park alongside their more heavily armed, faster, and more dangerous Zep, and then have the prisoners walk across?”

“Basically,” says Jock. “That’s what they said anyway,” he says. “What do you make of it?”

“It’s a trap,” you say. “But we have to spring it.”

“Are you sure?” asks Rana. “I mean, the Sparrow isn’t designed for close quarters combat. If we get close, they’ll shred us. Those 30 millimeters with mine-shell ammo and the 88s will tear through the envelope and blast us out of the sky before we know it!”

Anneliese nods. “Not to mention that Leapers happens to be one of the more competent members of the Sturmkinder, if she has the capacity to trap us like this away from our support, then there’s no telling what else she has planned.”

“We’re going to do it,” you say. You look at Jock. “Let Operator #5 know this is happening.”

“Right, Chris.” Jock steps away from the controls and heads towards one of the communications consoles.

You look at Rana and Anneliese. “Right. Listen, when we drop the gangplanks, we’re going to march across with the prisoners and the Shard. I can only take one of you though.”

Rana nods. “Choose wisely then.”

You point to Rana. “I’ll go with you, Rana. You haven’t steered me wrong so far. Anneliese, you’ll stay back and support us, okay?” They both nod, understanding of their roles and what will come of it. “Good, good.” You look back at Jock. “How long until we meet up?”

Jock says, “Ten minutes.”

“Alright, let’s get to our positions.” You three hold up your Soul Rings in hand. “Listen, whatever happens up there. You make sure Sumire gets out okay. Got it?” They both nod again, ready to roll with you. “Good, good. Let’s roll.”

-

-

The three of you stand atop the Zeppelin’s envelope, feeling the chilly wind bite at your exposed skin like little bee stings. Bomber shivers, hugging herself, while even Anneliese grits her teeth, trying not to look cold. You yourself simply stand there, the cold is the least of your concerns now. Behind, in cuffs, are Engelhardt, Knives, and Saragarhi. You hold the case containing the Shard under your arm.

This exchange better be worth it.

Finally, after a time, the familiar unstealthing begins. As if like a burning fire, the Kleine Fraulein appears from the clouds from thin air. It is huger than the Sparrow, it is more well-armed than the Sparrow, it is faster than the Sparrow, and then some.

If this is a trap, it will get ugly.

You see Leaper, Crosshair, and a retinue of soldiers behind her. In between them stand Sumire and Jeanine, looking bruised and beaten up, but not broken, wearing anti-magic collars. The two Zeps start closing in, slowly, nearly to point blank range. An extending gangplank is set down on both sides, and soon you have a walk way, barely big enough for two people across.

Bomber stands next to you, biting her lip. “They do have Sumire.”

You nod. “Let’s go.” You start walking onto the rickety gangplank. One false move, and you could end up falling to your doom, or end up sliced by one of the engine nacelles. “Remember, no sudden moves. We won’t want to spook them.” The metal creaks and clangs with your every step. No wonder they stopped with the gangplanks back in ’37, these things are so stupidly dangerous. The center of the gangplank itself is basically attached by magnets, so if you were too heavy, that was that.

That’s why you both kept your distance, at least several meters. The only noise now was the sound of the engines and the cry of the wind.

Leaper crosses her arms, smirking. “Lady Liberty. Nice to see you. I see you’re a woman of your word.”

“Are you?” you ask.

“Sure!” she says. “Give us what we want, and we’ll give you what you want. Simple as that.”

You nod. “And if we don’t?” The turrets on the Kleine Fraulein turn to aim directly at you. A total of eight with each one carrying a quad-mount of 30mm cannons. That should answer your question. “Right…”

You motion to Sumire. “Give us the girls first.”

Leaper rolls her eyes. “As if. You give us Lady Engelhardt and Knives.” Saragarhi clears her throat, angrily glaring a hole right through Leaper. “Okay, I suppose we can have the oriental raghead as well.”

Saragarhi growls. “When I get free I will break your spine and spit down your throat you little frog!” she screams.

You shake your head. “We’re not going anywhere without Sumire and Jeanine.”

Sumire laughs, smiling, the look in her eyes clearly betraying her. “That’s it, Libby, go ahead and bargain for my life, it’s not like it’s important or anything, hehehe.” Relax Sumire, you got this.

Engelhardt says, “Do as she says, Georgina.” Leaper rolls her eyes. Finally, she pushes Sumire forward.

Leaper says, “You send them to us two at a time.”

You push Saragarhi forward, then Knives. “Awww…” Knives pouts sadly as she and Saragarhi are forced forward in exchange for Sumire. She looks back at you, puppy dog eyes and everything. “Can I not stay, Lady Liberty?”

You shake your head. “No. God no.”

They march on past Sumire. Sumire smiles. “I knew you’d pull through for me, Libby!”

“Quiet you,” you say.

As they walk, Knives stomps on Leaper’s foot. She yelps in pain, flinching backwards before a trooper catches her from falling off. Then Saragarhi comes in and spits in her eye, blinding her. She rubs her eye, blinking it furiously as she looks at you. “Right, Lady Engelhardt and the Shard, come on then.”

You nod. “First you give us Jeanine.”

Jeanine huffs. “As if I need to be used like some bargaining chip.” The soldiers cock their weapons and raise them at you, ready to fire.

“Come on,” says Leaper. You hear the sounds of autogyros, hovering up from behind you. They shine bright spotlamps on you, nearly blinding you. You look to see Swastikas on their wings, of course they would bring help like this. “They will shoot you. Give her to us.”

Ugh… where are the other girls?

“Look…” You push Engelhardt back behind you, keeping your shield covering everyone. “You give us Jeanine, we give you Engelhardt, simple as that.”

Leaper laughs. “Ahaha! Don’t make me laugh you little slut!” Slut? “You will give us Lady Engelhardt, or we will blast you out of these skies, it’s as simple as that. You shouldn’t make things so difficult for yourself!”

Sumire rolls her eyes. “Pffft, forget it, Libby. We can just go, we’ve already got me.”

“When I get my hands on you, Sumire!” Jeanine steps forward, blind with rage. “I will make you labor so hard that the holiday will be named after you!”

Leaper sighs. “Fine, you leave us no choice.” She signals forward. “On my command…!”

The autogyros suddenly explode in great bursts of green light. You all duck down in instinct. What was that!? “Who was that!?” yells Knives.

Your reinforcements. They drop in as a squad of four, with Stringer riding on Fortress’ back. “Liberty!” yells Stringer. “Run!”

Soldiers start firing, running back off the gangplank. You get the same idea, and immediately force Bomber, Engelhardt, and Sumire to do the same.

“Go!” yells Tiger. She fires a shot, blasting a turret to pieces. The others however disagree, and start firing, smashing up the hull and spreading fires all along the envelope. Ah, great.

“Chris!” It’s Jock over the earradio. “It’s Jock, if we lose our engine nacelles, we’ll be too slow to make a run for it! You gotta take out those guns!”

Tiger takes up a plier then smashes Jeanine and Lightning’s restraints. They immediately burst into their Magical Girl forms.

You wave your arm to the gun turrets. “We need to take down those gun turrets. Tiger, Lightning, Stringer, Siren, you’re with me. Bomber, stay back, and make sure Engelhardt stays here with the Shard!” Everyone nods as Bomber quickly forces Engelhardt to her knees. “Let’s go!”

The five of you quickly make a running jump across the way over to the Kleine Fraulein. Getting back will more difficult, but you don’t care about that now. You’ll figure something out later.

You slice gun barrels on with your spinning shields. Stringer wraps her yo-yos around more, bending them downwards into useless. Tiger smashes her way in along with Siren to directly deal with the crew, while Lightning slashes and dices the howitzer gun barrels sticking out from their ports, hopping along in acrobatic fashion.

You’re smashed in the back of the head, slamming into the turret and nearly blacking out. You turn around, to see a boot kick and smash a hole into where your head would’ve been. Leaper pulls her legs free quickly, hopping and strafing quickly, place to place. She smirks at you. “Show me what you got, Lady Liberty.”

You hold your hands up. “Listen, I know you work for the Korps and all but do we really have to-“

You really want to finish that, but a boot to the face doesn’t really allow you to. You stumble to the side, dazed. Another boot to the ass, sends you forward, falling on your face. She grabs you by the scarf, then punches you again, sending you flat on your back. She smiles. “What is the good Major thinking!? All I see here is a little weakling of a girl!” She grabs you by the neck, and sends you running right into the wall of a turret.

Ugh, this needs to stop. You spin up your shield, and see her lean back, jump and kick away your attacks. Damn it! She gives you another swift kick to the gut, flooring you. “Face it, Hitler and the Magisch Korps are the good guys here, there is no place in the world for you anymore!”

She plants her boot on your neck, then drags you up on the wall. You grab her ankle, trying to push. “Now, all I need to do is snap your neck and-“

Blood splatters over your face. Leaper coughs, looking downwards to see the blade of a naginata, embedded right in her flesh. She blinks, panting heavily. The blade slices out, freeing her, and letting her fall to the floor, dead.

You blink, looking at Lightning, who angrily glares at Leaper. She looks back at you, then smiles nervously.

You wipe some of the blood off your face. You nod to Lightning. “Thanks.” She nods, blasting off to deal with the soldiers coming up to ward you all off. At least you can say she cared enough to save your life. You spin up your shield and slice off another gun barrel, rendering this gun turret useless.

“Liberty!” You look back to see Saragarhi (Magical Girl Elephant) rushing at you. Oh boy. She glows an intense blue, her eyes turning into great lamps of energy. “AAAAHHHHHH!” She smashes a trooper out of her way, sending him flying to his doom. You bring up your shields, bracing for impact.

When a yo-yo comes and smacks her in the face. She flips over end over end and slides to a halt in front of you, unconscious. Stringer lands behind you, determined. “Ooh jeez.” She withdraws her yo-yos. “All the turrets are down.” You look to the Sparrow, too far away now for a leap. “How are we going to get back?”

Cyclone and Nightlight float up, smiling. “Did someone say they needed a lift?” They quickly high-five each other. Fortress flies up behind them, rolling her eyes.

You look over to see more soldiers rushing out, led by the repatriated Elite Four.

You hop into Cyclone’s arms. “Oh hey there, Libs.” She smirks, bouncing her eyebrows up and down. Oh jeez. Stringer hops onto Fortress’ back, while Lightning, Tiger, and Siren let themselves be picked up by Nightlight’s magical energy. The soldiers begin firing after you as you run off.

Knives screams, “You’ll be back, Liberty! And I will be waiting for you!”

You look down, underneath, you see the autogyro you used to fly out of Skull Island fly towards the Kleine Fraulein. With Rana and Engelhardt inside of it.

Oh no.

“Cyclone!” you yell. “You have to drop me!”

“What!?” She tightens her grip on you, confused.

“Rana’s down there, she’s giving up the Shard!” you scream.

Tiger yells, “We are still able to track them if they have it!” You try to fight Cyclone off, trying to get her to force her to drop you. “Liberty, stop!”

Sorry Cyclone. You punch her in the face. “Ow! Motherfu-“ She lets go, letting you fall. “Liberty!”

You quickly outpace all of their attempts to catch you and bring you back. You angle your body, streamlining yourself as you free-fall to the Earth. Or more precisely, to the autogyro. You spin up your shields again, using them to guide you along as best you can under the autogyro’s main propeller so you don’t get sliced to ribbons, until you finally grab onto the tail.

Engelhardt looks back. “Ah, Lady Liberty. I knew this escape was missing something!” she says happily. She snaps her fingers, and Rana looks back as well, with glowing red eyes and a glazed look on her face. “Would you handle her for me?”

You blink. “H-How!? You have an anti-magic collar on your neck!” It clinks, letting you know that it’s there.

Engelhardt smiles. “You think someone as powerful as me would let something like this keep me down? I do not think so!” Rana climbs out of her part of the cockpit, allowing Engelhardt to take controls from the co-pilot seat. She starts crawling over to you, pulling out a Thompson to aim at you.

We'll need to neutralize her to get to miss Puppetmaster. Or try to sneak an attack past her - I don't think miss E will be able to control her while unconscious.

> Disable the autogyro

You spin up your shield, then toss it dead on at the main propeller. Everyone ducks as the blades spin out of control, then detach completely from the craft, sending it plummeting from Earth. Rana nearly flies out of the plane, but grabs onto the tail, reaching out for you, still under Engelhardt’s grasp.

Engelhardt grabs onto the Shard, then onto a parachute. “It’s been fun, Liberty.” She hops out then deploys her parachute. The Kleine Fraulein starts dropping altitude to meet her, to pick her up. Damn it! She’s getting away!

Rana’s glowing eyes disappear, replaced with her regular eyes. “Huh? ARE WE FALLING!?” she screams. She starts screaming loudly, and you grab onto her, and then bring your shields onto your back. They double up, for double the resistance to damage as the wind wihstles through your ears.

This is going to hurt.

You open your eyes, lying in the wreckage of the autogyro. Trees surround you in the darkness, and on top of you lies Rana. You quickly shift your fingers to her neck.

Oh thank God, a pulse.

You sigh, leaning back.

Damn it, they have the Shard.

They got away. Again.

“Libby!” Lightning breaks through the brush, and immediately runs over to you. “Damn it, why did you go after her!?” She grabs onto your scarf, pulling you up and letting Rana roll into your lap. “Are you okay!? Answer me! Oh my God, did they strike you dumb!?”

No one was questioning saving Rana. The question was "what now," since Engelhart got away with the Shard AGAIN.
>>
>>36068221
...Chase? Why aren't we/our allies chasing them?
>>
>>36068269
The Kleine Fraulein is the most advanced stealth zeppelin in the world, and it's armed to the teeth. No one's figured out how to chase it yet without either losing it or getting shot down.

I wonder how those sky pirates are doing, come to think of it.
>>
> “They got away.”
> “Sorry.”

You sigh. “Sorry, they got away.”

Lightning pouts furiously at you. “You stupid little idiot. You could have gotten yourself killed like that. And then who’s going to pay me when I come back to the SSO!?” You roll your eyes, standing up with Rana in your arms. “Seriously, don’t ever do that again.”

You nod, smiling. “Thanks, Lightning.” You look around. No Kleine Fraulein, no nothing. Their stealth system must have facilitated their escape yet again. “So what’s the situation?”

“We lost them, as usual,” says Lightning. “Jeanine’s okay, Cyclone and Nightlight are rolling patrol duties while Fortress tends to the damages to the Sparrow. We really took a beating back there you now. I don’t think we can take much more of that. Tiger said we got a tracker on the case though, but who knows how long that’ll last before they find it and dump it somewhere?”

You grunt, walking with Lightning through the forest. “Well, once the sun rises, maybe we can-“

… Sun rises.

You look down at Rana. Oh sweet Lord in heaven, she’s a genius! SUN RISE.

Lightning looks at you as if you just ate a baby fresh from the womb. “Um. What’s with that look, Libby?”

You hurriedly swing around to face Lightning. “I need to get to a phone, and quick! It’s important!”

“What’s so important?”

“It’s Doctor Savage!” Rana flops and bounces around in your grasp, still unconscious. You don’t care though, you are having a breakthrough, a tremendous breakthrough. “Listen, while we were on our journeys, we were looking for something called the Astronomer. Rana told me these things were heavily powered by solar radiosomething that kept things powered and such. Right? Right, so basically, Doc Savage is building a Solar Collector! And-“

Lightning pinches your mouth shut, glaring at you. “Short version, I Japanese. No understand English.”

You slap her hand away. “Point is, what the Shard needs to open a portal to the Immaterium is lots of energy. And the best way to get that energy is from the sun.” You sigh, then nod quickly. “They need solar power. They need the Solar Collector. And Doc Savage has been advertising it as his next great breakthrough.”

For once, you hold all the cards now, even without the Shard.

“Lightning, they need Doc Savage.”

I don't mind Leaper dying, or the idea of Englehardt or the indian or the sniper girl buying it, but I think I'd actually be upset if one of the four went. Is incompetence that much of an endearing trait?
