Last thing a 29yrs old chemical engineer and fellow fa/t g/uy saw before he died on a plane crash was his favorite d20 flying off his pocket.

Must have rolled a critical success in someone's reincarnation tables, because next thing he knew, he was reborn in a world of swords and magic, the likes he'd always dreamt of, and furthermore, a world where the rules are those of old times RPG games.

Now aged 10, Eldric Lightbringer is staying in Eopolis for his summer vacation, visiting his grandfather, uncle and cousin, taking in the sight of the biggest city in the northern continent.

Hi guys. I'm a little bit blinder so I apologize beforehand for any typos.

Anyway.
***
At the beginning of a new day, Eldric wakes up to find himself sleeping with Zoe, the snow-haired beastgirl curling up around him like he was a plushie toy.

She looks quite happy.

"Zoe, wake up"
"Hnuu..." ~she pouts softly
"No "nuuh" me, wake up, cĀ“mon"

Eldric squirms a little bit but the more he squirms the tighter she hangs on to him until he tickles her in the tummy and she starts chuckling and squirming and lets him go.

"Not fair" ~she pouts cutely as she sits up on the bed, dragging the sheets with her. She's wearing a cutesy pajama with lots of frills on the lower hem, and something like a bracelet made of fluffy silk. She looks a bit like a doll.

"Zoe, you have your own room"
"But I don't know that room, I dun't like it"
"That's because you haven't slept on it. You can't get to know it if you don't sleep on it"
"Uhhhh" ~she pouts slightly

A little bit later, Euphrosyne comes in, wearing her long black and white maid uniform, pushing a food cart along.

"Miss Zoe, you snuck out of your room again" ~she says in an admonishing, if gentle, tone, even tho she's taking out both yours and her breakfast from the food cart

"Good morning, Euphry"
"Good morning, young master Eldric"

She picks up Zoe from the bed gently and sits her on a low bench to start brushing her hair while the lion girl nibbles on her breakfast with you. Her fluffy white hair tends to stand up a lot so it takes a bit of effort to smooth and braid it every morning.

Oh right. That should take priority, right? so lets go do that with Okaba and Aura, and go to a foodgeon on the way back. Who else do you wanna take?

Since Lyann can take her ankle cuffs on and off now, she doesnt HAS to go anymore, which leaves us three slots

Mako, Ami, Mai, Honoria, Zoe, Stella, cousin Alard. I think that's everyone. Uhmm we still dont have enough people for 2 parties, sadly

I wonder if uncle Wolfric would like to see the orphanage if he's not too busy with the post war efforts

After breakfast, Zoe tries to keep Eldric to herself but eventually the others come by to visit or play and she gets dragged away to play with Mako.

Zoe seems rather attached to Mako, for some reason, and the little princess seems to love her (like a kitten) so it's good.

After talking with Okaba for a while, he is obviously eager to check the orphanage, so you have Euphrosyne send mr Percywell a message to let him know you are in town and that you want the adress to the place.

It's only a couple of hours before he comes in person to pick you up.

"Ah, the young lord, so nice to see you!" ~he seems obviously excited to see you here, and escort you to see the orphanage
"A few others are coming as well, if that's alright"
"Sure, your friends are welcome" ~he says

The carriage is quite large, pulled by four tall horses with white-feathered ornaments.

Mr Percywell greets your friends politely and helps the girls climb unto the carriage before the guys, then waits for you and the boys and climbs himself in at the end.

"I hope you have been enjoying your stay so far? have you been in the city long?"
"Not long, no, just a few days, being acquainted with family"
"Ah, it would be an honor if you could introduce me the rest of the house of Li-- I mean, if you could introduce me to your family later?"

The carriage is quite elegant and solid. It must have been very well designed, since you can barely feel the road as it moves.

The orphanage is in the six city ring, It's a good neighborhood or what you would call upper mid class, in the old world.

There is a lot of children playing in the nearby park. The park's wood games look brand new. The trees are really just young saplings right now, and you can still see gardeners placing in grass blocks in some areas.

"Oh, did you build a park for the children, mr Percywell?" ~asks Okaba with a smile as he sees them play
"I'd like to take the credit, but no. The park was going to be built either way. I just got a friend from public works to tell me so I could purchase a nearby property to build the orphanage near it."

The orphanage is a block south from the park. It is a brand new building, and there is still building going on in the east wing.

"The bedrooms and kitchens were first, of course. We are still working on the factory and workshop areas, but I tried to model them after your own." ~he explains
"Alright"

The carriage stops, and Aura hops down with both feet, then helps everyone come down carefully.

The work chief goes over to meet mr Percywell, and then greets you and your friends politely. You notice him blessing himself after he thinks you arent watching so he's probably also a Light cultist.

The orphanage is wide and looks clean. The staff is mostly normal house servant staff, but there's no such thing as social workers or childcare specialists in this world, other than a nanny, so it's probably about as good as it can get.

They all seem happy to meet you.

It looks as if they are all eager to help take care of the children, and you looking at the bedrooms, when Honoria asks you

"You do realize these people are all believers in the Cult of Light, right? that means this is a cultist home, or a temple" ~says the dwarven princess~ "Doesn't that worries you?"
"People is free to believe whatever they want. If they believe in a purple unicorn that will take them to a better world when they die, what does it matter, as long as they are good people and do good things." ~asks Lyann

However, that does worry you

I mean, we are legitimately blessed by the gods from what I understand. That's what a scion is, and our family seems to have a multi-generational sacred charge.
>>
>>36139589

I think I have to back this, along with a freedom of religion view.

It does make us personally uncomfortable to be viewed that way.
>>
>>36139589
Do you seriously expect a group of religious people to NOT want to raise children into their religion? we are not talking about evil people brainwashing kids.

We are talking about nice, sweet, caring people who genuinely believe in something good. For them, it would be just natural and the good and right thing to do.

Tell the children bedtime stories about your family's good deeds, teach them how to pray, teach them to brush their teeth before bed time. Its all just good people being good people,

Is not as if they are followers of a Death God teaching people to do human sacrifices- We are talking about children seeing good people, responsible adults, taking care of them, and that these good people believe in something good and greater than themselves.

But, you are part of that "greater belief". Are you alright with being looked up to?

"Honoria. I believe in these people. They are good people, doing good things. What they believe it's not important. If they were worshippers of the eastern bunny, it wouldn't change what they are, or what they are doing"

Honoria sighs a bit, and then nods.

"What kind of bunny is that?" ~she asks softly to Okaba after a bit
"Well, there's a type of white hare that lays eggs and lives on the land of Bastion in the eastern corner of the continent.. maybe that's it?"
"I didin't think Eldric had such extensive knowledge of biology"

Okaba shrugs

Mr Percywell arranges for you to have a meal with the children and the orphanage staff before going back.

Everyone looks happy. The nannies are busy cleaning children's faces and sending them to wash their hands after they were playing outside.

"Perhaps I could invite you to a ball in three days, young lord? of course, I would be honored if you would take your family and friends with you" ~says mr Percywell during the meal

"Thankyou young lord. I will send the carriage to wait for you and your friends a little before sunset, feel free to board it whenever you want"

Later, when we are in the carriage

"You know cousin, I have to admit, you are smarter than I am, but I think you are making a mistake"~says Alard
"Working with mr Percywell?"
"Not specifically. He seems like a good man. I meant letting your charity work become public. People will want to imitate it, and that by itself isin't bad, but how well they do it, that's a different question."

"Eldric is doing the right thing. I believe in you" ~says Lyann as she squeezes Eldric's hand

"Oh, is that a local foodgeon? can we stop and try it out?"

A empty land lot has a line of obvious adventurers waiting to go into a small building.

"I don't see why not. Are you up to it, young lord?" ~Okaba asks Alard
"A..ah... sure... a little scared, but sure"
"That's alright. If you weren't scared on your first time, you would be a fool"
"I remember my first time, but master held my hand and told me it would be alright, and it was so romantic!" ~says Aura

"She must be slipping. Normally she sounds much lewder than this" ~says Honoria, and Eldric chuckles a little bit

Either we would have been the only charity in town, and more children and slave would have slipped through, or there's lots of little orphanages and charities, with varying levels of competence.

Indeed, this is a very well domesticated dungeon.

The first 35 floors are completely mapped, and you can purchase maps at the entrance for a silver and 500 coppers.

The first 21 floors are all plant, animals and beasts, making this a foodgeon through and through.

It's not that the monsters are any less dangerous, it's just that they will drop food and materials only.

After the floor 21, the "locals" are random as usual.

Indeed, you reach level 20 with several dozen different foodstuff and materials sitting on Lyann's inventory box.

* Take everything back, even the low quality stuff from the first 4 floors. It can all be useful with a good enough cook or craftsman, anyway

Indeed, it is not long before Alard makes it to Lord. The dungeon doesn't has anything but food and material drops, however, but you did get 2 [Maneater Plant] cards from the 11th floor.

As you could guess, it is chcked full of those. Large, slow crawling plants with gaping maws and tentacles that drop large red fruits most of the time.

That reminds me, we don't have any villager so we could get herbologist or botanist, right? those can pretty much get cards on every kill of these things

"Say, is there such a thing as a dungeon full of undead? we could use some ghost cards"
"I don't know? I guess I could find out" ~answers Alard

After reaching floor 21, you begin finding constructs and insects (which count as beast, btw). Looks like only the first 20 floors have been arranged as part of a foodgeon, after all

Of course, monsters like these are very little threat to most of you, but perhaps you should get better equipment for Alard before going further down.

For now, our cousin looks quite happy to have made it to Lord, so we call it a day for now, and use the dungeon crystal to save our progress and teleport back to this ring's adventurer's guild

As it turns out, it's a massive building in golden wood and ivory. It looks more like a palace than an adventurer's guild, but you do see adventurers walking about, chatting, and looking at the quests board.

There is a counter at the back. It feels like a bank, really.

"Oh, so that's what a teleport feels like" ~says Alard
"What's with those cashiers at the back?" ~asks Aura
"They sell potions and scrolls. They also pay rewards for accomplished quests." ~says alard
"Oh, you actually know a lot about these places, don't you sir?" ~says Lyann

Alard blushes a bit when your pretty slave leans over a little to talk with him

"I had been thinking about being an adventurer for a little while, now. Oh! you can sell most of the goods we got at the cashier, and the guild will then sell it to merchants who need it."

Pretty much true. It may not even be a direct goal and it'll still happen. Say I'm Catholic and I run an orphanage. I'm a very nice guy, always there to take care of the little street urchins, play with them merrily, and teach them about the world. Then one day a poor youth then asks me "why are being so nice to us? You spend so much time for no real reward."

Answer: "It is because acts of charity and kindness are pleasing to the Lord. And because I like seeing everyone smile."

Then they ask more questions. Before I know it the whole orphanage is filled with good young Catholics. Ya don't even gotta try on this front!

You know, this pic reminds me of the native americans on my country, for one reason. She's supporting her weight on the balls of her feet and toes.

I remember talking with a guide once while I was camping. A way to tell a "civilized" man from a true native is that the native supports his weight on the front of his feet, while the civilized man supports it on the back.

And yes I know she's only on the balls of her feet to draw her legs taunt because that looks better, but I'd like to believe the artist knew what she was doing

Anyway...

Ress scrolls are 5g each. Well, not everyone has Angel Rings, so we buy ten, and distribute them about, just in case.

Talking with Alard, we explain to him about rising your basic classes first. He seems rather nervous at the idea of being a wizard, but trusts us to know what we are doing.

"But just when we go into a dungeon, alright? I'd like to let my dad see I'm a lord now, first"
"sure"

As for quests, there's hardly anything that could count as such. Most, if not everything, its requests for materials of a specific type or another. There IS a quest, however,

"Wanted Help mapping the 9th ring northmost foodgeon. A dungeon has been recently converted and we need help making a full map of it, as deep as possible. 20 gold coins for each floor after the 10th"

"It's not exactly an epic quest, is it?" ~says Honoria~ "We could probably do it on a single evening."
"I don't see why not? let's try it tomorro"

You take the flyer and head home.

The thing is, as a family we go out and say we are no better then others. We have been doing that for hundreds of years.

All the while doing great heroic deeds, saving people and being inspirations to thousands. We are also a strong comparison to the more earthly city leaders.

It would be easier if the family in general was not so GOOD.

It would be like if in ancient Greek times the founders of a city family still led it as paragons of virtue for centuries. If Athens had Theseus as a founder and then his family lived up to his ideal for hundreds of years.

We are sadly stuck with the cult of light. It does not help that we do have a mssion from the gods, we have some god touched scions every once in a while... And the house butler and maid are not normall either.

The point that Alard was making is that copycat orphanages will spring up, some created not by people wanting to do good but by nobles who want to be seen doing whatever the Lightbringers are doing.
And then investigating and shutting down the ones that do more harm than good is going to not only be a drain of time and money, but also end up with even more damaged children.

Just like how Grandpa's decision to get away from the nobles ended up fucking over the poor renters in the district he chose for the new manor.

Along the way, Lyann happily holds Eldric's hand and walks with him while humming to herself. It's a musical, clear sound.

The streets are mostly deserted at this hour. Most people is either at home or working, but as the workday begins to end with the sun approaching the horizon, more and more people start coming out unto the streets.

The local fashions feel to us as if we were in a victorian-themed movie set... everyone it's so elegant, and even the children, the urchins and the beggas are wearing a suit of some kind. The dresses of the high society ledies are flowy and bulky, with tight corsets and small parasols.

The streets are paved with stone in thousands of designs. It looks like a massive paint, at some level.

"Cousin, is the magic college fun?"
"It's a school, its not specially fun, but it's a good place to make friends."
"Uhmm... would you like to see the local academies tomorrow?"
"Maybe? I don't know yet what we'll do tomorrow"

Aura pulls from Okaba's sleeve to get him to buy her some treat from the street vendors. Its a local trait. It looks like a sish kebab of vegetables and cheese wrapped in thin, roasted meat.

"Alright, alright, but you could have bought it yourself, couldn't you?"
"But it's tastier this way" ~she says with a smile as she takes our hand with the kebab on it and bites on its tip
"Silly" ~Eldric actually blushes a little bit and looks away

The rest of the way back, Honoria has a smile as she sees Lyann nibble off the kebab Eldric holds for her

"Ah! Master, hold it for me?" ~asks Aura, and Okaba bops her gently on a horn.
"You're a big girl already"
"Aww"

When they make it back to the manor, Stella wags her tail as she approaches Eldric, then stops for a moment.

"Eldric!" ~she looks so happy, then she notices something

She leans down, her shirt straining to contain her generous cleavage. She sniffs at Eldric a couple of times, leaning in real close, then does the same with Lyann

"You were having tasty meat without us, you meanies!" ~she denounces Eldric and says she won't love him anymore until tea time, maybe even dinner time
"Ah, actually" ~Eldric pulls some still hot kebabs out of Lyann's Item box for everyone
"Yaa~~ Stella loves Eldric!" ~she hugs and smooches him happily

Everyone. Mako, Mai, Ami, Zoe, Stella, Okaba, Aura, Lyann, Alard and Eldric, sit at the entrance of the manor to watch the sunset and have kebabs together.

"What are you doing?" ~sighs Euphrosyne~ "You'll ruin your apetites before dinner!" ~she admonishes us, but then sits down to eat kebab with us when we offer her one

"Yipe!" ~she jumps up and pulls the sheets along with her
"Stella, are you alright?" ~she did land on the floor
"Ah, yes"

She's is all entangled on the sheets. She looks quite cute, really.

The brown wolfgirl is sleeping deeply (she's actually snoring a little bit) as she hugs Eldric. looking a rather happy. Her long silk pajama shirt has climbed up to her knees since there's no tail hole, so its tip curling up a little tugs it up slightly.

"Stella, it's morning"
"Just a little bit, mamma Linda. It's cold out of bed"
"Stella, wake up"
"Uhh..." ~she wakes up and lets him go, then sits up to rub her eyes while looking around
"Where am I?" ~then she spots Eldric and tries to hug him again~ "Yaa~~! Eldric!" ~she says happily but sleepily
"Stella, wake up!" ~he gently flicks at her right ear, and she snaps awake
"Ah.. is it breakfast yet?"
"Almost."
"I want to go out with you today."
"Alright, sure. Let's get up before Euphry sees we slept on the floor"
"We did? oh, we did. Why did we slept on the floor?"
"You dragged us down to the floor"

Today, we take cousin Alard, Mako and her shadows with us. It's a slightly smaller than usual party, but it does mean there is more exp for every one on it.

"So, what should I try raising now?" ~asks alard
"Ah, let's go with singer or wizard so you can help from the back for now."
"Alright... I feel kind of guilty sending cute girls ahead, however"
"Princess, princess, lord Eldric's cousin says you are cute!" ~say the shadows, and Mako blushes a little bit

Well, Alard did find out a dungeon made up by mostly undead type monsters, so you head over to raid that today.

As usual the first few floors are hardly mentionable at all.

Ghosts turn out to be quite hard to deal with without magic or special weapons, frustrating the shadows quite a bit, but thankfully, it looks like you don't even need to try to hit them with healing spells.

You manage to get 3 [Ghost Card]s after performing whatever you would call a undead version of genocide through the morning.

It is rather odd to see that the ghost look like sheets, and seem to cover their eyes for a moment when you look at them straight in the eye.

Haven't you seen this somewhere before...?

Still, despite their rather comical appearance, it seems this world's inhabitants are still quite afraid of them, for some reason, and it takes a while before the awe of your friends passes after seeing you take the ghosts down like nothing.

"Eldric is... brave" ~says Mako softly
"I don't think so...? they're not that scary, really" ~says Eldric

Maybe its something similar to the dancer effect?

Any way, with a healer job, undead are pretty easy, huh? even if they respawn unless you get them all, you can easily take them down with a relatively cheap healing spell.

They do seem to take a LOT less damage from physical attacks, however.

Well, once your necrocide is over, it looks like your friends have lost their fear of undeads. Even tho you really couldn't see what was scary about them to begin with, at all.

Most of them looked like halloween costumes or old game sprites to you.

You use the keystone and go back ince more to the guild house.

It is, indeed, quite a big guildhouse. There's not as much people as there were yesterday, perhaps because of the hour.

After spending a fun evening accesorizing little Mako, she looks like a tiny, adorable disney princess

"Oh ancestors, our princess...!"
"..looks even more adorable than usual!"

"E-eldric... does it look good?"
"Yes, you look very beautiful"
"E~eep!" ~she cries out softly as she covers her pretty face

"Oh, please allow me to give you a gift too, princess" ~Alard gets her a hair pin, a small, tin and gold butterfly
"Thank you." ~she says as she courtsies

Well, she doesn't seem to get as embarrased when other people gets her stuff? should we be happy about that? probably?

Looking around the market, you find a botanist' shop. There are even tiny plant monsters on pots for sale in the window, as well as a wide array of accesories and [exceptional] ingredients and materials

After a bit of window shopping, Alard buys a small monster plant, a diminutive [Black Ink Sniper]

"What's with the little guy?" ~asks Ami

The tiny monster is a perfect miniature version of the grown thing. It looks like a stalk with a black flower on top, and three tendrils ending in wide leaves

"Ah, I read it lets out a very pleasant scent in the evenings, and won't grow any further as long as it doesn't taste human flesh. In the meanwhile, I can just care for it like any other plant"

"Is it actually good for anything more?"

>>36143013

Ami teases the tiny monster plant, wiggling her finger at it

"Dont tease it" ~says Alard with a laugh
"Why not?"

The tiny plant shoots itchy ink at Ami's eyes while she's distracted looking at Alard

"Ah!"
"That's why"

You wash Ami's face with some clear water, and she pokes her tongue at the plant. The plant gives no fucks

"Princess, don't get so close to it. It'll soil your new clothes" ~says Ami

The plant seems to like Mako, tho. It dances a little bit for her when she gets closer, and Mako smiles radiantly

Should we kill it? its showing its moves to our little Mako, isin't it? it made her smile, too!

Well, let's be reasonable. It can't talk, anyway.

We make our way back to the manor by taking a carriage, and then get to working on making a cooler box for icecream.

It was a enjoyable, truly vacation-like day, wasn't it? well, tomorrow we have that ball, so let's hope grandpa doesn't mind it much.

That night, Eldric sighs when he feels someone sneaking into the room.

Right, tonight it's Lyann's turn, right? he just waits till she's next to him, and turns around to hug her, pretending to be asleep.

"A-ah!" ~she lets out softly

She's warm and soft, and is wearing a fluffy shirt. Huh... she's starting to develop nicely, isin't she?

Well, good night

Come morning, shes already awake when Eldric opens her eyes

Waking up with Lyann is fun
Why, you ask? to begin with, she oversleeps a lot
Every time.
This lets us tease her, and she always blushes. Her blushing face is beautiful, thus, waking up with her is fun
Also, she likes to hug while sleeping, but it's not the wrestling lock hug of Stella or the arms and legs hug of Zoe. Its a much more gentle type of hug, so we can get up with a lot less trouble, most of the time
Of course, sometimes she does cling even while sleeping, but usually, its no trouble

How should we tease our lovely Lyann like, today? for now, lets undo her braids. She looks good with braids, but she looks even better with her hair loose.

It looks so good, random people tell her how good it looks, and it embarrases her a lot. Thus, she normally braids and curls her hair.

"Whu... mornin'" she says as she wakes up in a little bit
"Good morning" ~Eldric smooches her very gently
"Aaah~ morning" ~she says again with a smile

Dangerous, she looks far too cute and pretty when she gives off that sleepy eyes smile with her hair loose, like that.

If Eldric's body was able to, it would give up a rather frank response at that sight.

"You snored a lot" ~we continue to tease her
"W- no I didin't!" ~she says, sitting up and rubbing her eyes

Ah, she looks rather adorable like that. Her chemise clings quite charmingly to her. She's already starting to grow curves, isin't she?

After having breakfast, we shower and dress up in the local fashion.

Lyann looks like a victorian doll.

Speaking of dolls, since she has extraordinarily long hair, it would take her all morning to secure it into braids and curl it up again. Thus, today it's long hair day for her.

"Oooh, the young miss looks beautiful"

Pretty much every maid and house servant has said that to her. Uncle Wolfric said she would look gorgeous in a few years, and joked about being first in line to ask for her hand in marriage.

In Alard's name, in case you are wondering.

But that's wrong, because... well...

*cough* Anyway, she's nicely angry at us. She looks cute when she's angry, too. But it's bad because she's now taking a cool, calm look at us in our local suit.

That means she's going to make a Eopolis Lord Eldric doll, does it not?

Cousin Alard looks quite flustered when he looks at her, too. No, stop! don't look at our Lyann with lovestruck eyes! dammit! we shouldn't have let her hair down, after all!

Grandpa left early, and uncle Wolfric left after breakfast. They both have plenty of work, after all.

"Euphry, we are going to a ball tonight" ~says Eldric to Euphrosyne~ "Is there any special etiquette we should know?"
"Oooh, a ball? I see, so that is why the young lady has her hair loose, today? she looks lovely!"

She seems to think about it for a bit

"Well, you will need a chaperone per couple. Who else is going?"

"Uhmm... So... at least myself and three other maids, then?"
"Is that really necessary?"
"Of course it is. Oh, and also, we should check your wardrobe, oh and get you a haircut" ~she says as she gently sinks her hand into eldric's hair~ "And we should check which perfumes work on you, and maybe accesorize... I wish you had told me sooner."
"But it's tonight, we have the whole day"
"Just one day isin't enough, you know!?"

Euphrosyne drags us off with ridiculous ease. Trying to ask for help from Lyann is useless, as she gives us a small smile that says "it's what you deserve" as we get dragged off

The Lightbringer nanny spends all day spraying perfume on us, then washing it off as she looks for the perfect fragance.

"Ah, maybe a fruit-based one. The young lord is still a child, after all?"

She has Eldric stand on a platform while several maids measure his everything and ateam of tailors get to work on him in a mergency rush to make him a suit

Honestly, it feels quite tiring, but no evil lasts a thousand years and the day passes on, at horribly slow speed

"Ah, Eldric smells nice" ~says Mako that night
"Oooh, he does..."
"...he really does!"

The shadows sniff sniff at him

Okaba is wearing his royal blue and purple suit, and aura is wearing a very elegant-looking night dress in black.

Well, "no matter what, you can't go wrong with a small black dress" after all.

Honoria is wearing her best armor, carefully polished and ointed... well, she's a dwarf. At least she's wearing a dress under it

Stella is wearing a long dress, it has a very fluffy skirt full of waves and layers of cloth, so that her tail comes out from under a layerwithout ruining her lines. It also opens like a bell, much wider at the bottom, and drags slightly on the floor, but since the ball's floor will doubtlessly be spotless, it doesnt matter.

She looks quite beautiful.

Zoe is wearing a similar dress, but with a cut on the left. It clings naturally to her. she looks both seductive and innocent. Its a winning combination.

Well, Euphrosyne is sticking close to them, so there's no problem.

As for why is Stella's dress so wide and fluffy... it's because she's not wearing shoes. Euphrosyne couldn't get her to. It seems like only mom can. So her dress hides her feet completely

Entering the ball room, a room steward announces us at the door.

"The Lords Alard and Eldric Lightbringers!" ~he announces and the doors open

Its truly a magnificent hall, isin't it? its all golden and white and shining everywhere to the point that the floor is almost like a mirror.

Pretty much everyone stops what they are doing and look towards us as we walk in.

"The lady Honoria Opalthrone!" ~the room steward announces behind us

"The lord Okaba Ukhube, Seventh Prince of HĆŖven!"

It looks rathwer obvious that everyone wants to approach us, but seem to be naturally taking turns based on proximity

"Lady Mako Tsun, heir of lady First Night, Second Princess of the Heavily Empire!"

Mako eeps a little, quite nervous. Well, it's okay, she's so cute there's no way someone wouldn't like her

There are plenty of youths our own age or around it. It looks like mr Percywell made sure people would bring in their children to meet us.

Also, by the looks in their faces, it also looks like everyone in the room is a cultist. ..its somewhat uncomfortable

Well, they seem like nice people. They politely approach you and alard in turn, and introduce themselves. You get about a hundred invitations to various balls, tea evenings, dinner parties... if it wasn't for our ridiculously high intelligence, we wouldn't be able to keep track of all of them

Soon enough, Mako approaches Eldric and stretches her hand to him. Once he takes it, she doesn't lets go all night.

Stella and Zoe are popular with the children. It doesn't looks like the crowd is centered on any one race, but beastmen are still absent except for them.

Well, most beastmen are nomadic, and the ones that aren't, usually have realms in the southern continents, so most city folks here have never even spoken to one, unless they have spoken to an adventurer.

They are not being treated like a weird bug, if you worried. It's more like something new and interesting.

After a while, the children tend to spill towards the sides of the hall to play among the courtains and run stealth missions to steal from the buffet tables. reveling in their innocent mischief.

Zoe and Stella join them, even tho euprhy keeps catching them and telling them to just approach calmly and take anything they want.

*Prioritize business contacts
*Prioritize political contacts

Tough choice, so I am not putting anything forward yet.

Business works if we want to make more money and introduce more tech and products.

Politics works for maybe approaching the slave issue and more likely getting the keep better secured due to the council not taking it seriously.

People our age would let us act more like a 10 year old and make contacts with the next generation of leaders.

Most people your own age are going to private academies around the city, or being tutored at home, albeit most of them are going to Naranja Star Academy.

From what you hear of it, it would be similar to the magical college, except in the fact that is focused around martial disciplines, a place where the kids are expected to make contacts with their peers, for the future.

They are, of course, children. You have little trouble impressing them with your ideas, and they seem to listen attentively, even if they don't quite get it.

After a while, you start talking with a young man from the local elven community. His "tribe" settled down in the city three generations ago, and he's fully adapted to it. He mentions how he has yet to enter any formal education, but has been home schooled for a sizeable amount of time, by human standards.

He seems like a nice kid. He's interested in Albion's magical university, himself.

Eventually, everyone moves away towards the walls, and people starts dancing in the middle of the hall. The local dance is very waltz-like, with a easy tempo and rythm.

Pretty much every lady present tries to ask you to dance, but Mako doesn't wants to let go of your hand, so you have to excuse yourself.

1/?
>>
These people are all cultists. They would do whatever social changes we tell them to do, without question.
Impressing them or getting to know the kids seems redundant.
>>
>>36145671

Afterward, Zoe and Stella fall asleep against eachother on the carriage. Alard is talking with Lyann about magic, and Okaba is gently caressing Aura's head while the succubi sleeps against his shoulder.

Honoria seems unaffected. Well, that's a dwarf's endurance for you

Mako is still holding yuor hand, albeit she's not saying anything.

When you arrive home, you find your grandfather waiting at the door.

"Ah... you seem okay" ~apparently, he was rather worried~ "Well, go in and go to bed, boy. We are going to see the pope tomorrow" ~he says matter of fact
"Wait, what?"
"The voltronite pope. An old friend of mine, he says he could help you push your abilities as a scion. He helped another scion friend of mine, decades ago"
"You had other scion friend?"
"Are you deaf? yes, that is what I said. Now go in and go to bed..."
"Master, could you carry the girls in?" ~asks Euphrosyne
"Oh, of course. But couldn't you carry them yourself with ease?"
"Yes, but Baldric, you are preaching" ~she says gently
"Oh, sorry nanna" ~your grandfather laughs softly and picks the girls up with ease, carrying one on each arm

Well, Euphry has been the family nana for generations, after all.

Mako is a bit sleepy, but her shadows have to take her away before she goes to her bedroom.

A bit later, grandpa calls us over to the library.

"Eldric, please take a seat" ~he saus from the couch he's sitting on
"Thankyou"
"Your friend Okaba explained to me beforehand what you are trying to do. It is a very noble thing, but listen... I had three children. Your father, your uncle, and my Adonia would have been your aunt."

He waits for a bit, and hands you a small package.

"This was her wedding dress, and her favorite hairpin. I want you to hand it over to your sister when you go back home. Listen,Eldric, Adonia was the flower of the house, until she got mixed into politics. She did something, for the city's sake, and it costed her life. I... I understand that you have good intentions, but I want you to promise me that you will place yourself and your loved ones first. The city... your uncle and I have the city, you don't need to worry about it"
"But grandfather, I've spoken with Euphrosyne, aren't we supossed to take care of the dungeon back home?"
"We do. I do. You know about how normally, you can only see the first job and class somebody has?"
"Yes"
"Even for you, who is a scion. You can only see my first job and class, unless we party together, right?"
"Yes"

Grandpa is actually very, very well leveled. He is about lvl 40 on every 1st tier job, and level 20 in almost everything else. He also has a dozen levels in "Chosen Blade" and even "Samurai".

All of his bonus points have been distributed to wisdom and constitution.

He doesn't has any levels on wizard or the caster jobs, however. His intelligence, thus, while high, it's not "espectacular"

"I watch over the dungeon. There are plenty of magical alarms to let me know when someone goes past a certain depth. and I kept one of the teleporters working, but it's hidden in plain sight by placing a statue on top of it. Now, it is my job, and someday, it will be your fathers, or your uncle's. Do you understand? there is a chance that some day, it will be your job, but until then, I want you to enjoy yourself, and live a life where you will have no regrets later on."

"Grandpa, how did you...?"

"Just because you know about power, it does not mean you have to reach for it. I had hoped to pass the job unto Cedric, but he left because..."

"Because of me and mom"

"No, because of me. I chased my son away, with my stubborness and short temper. Now, the job will be your uncle's, and one day maybe your cousin's. You don't need to worry about it."

if that is his new splash art, i am happy he finally got updated.

Anyway, basically, he accepts that someone should watch over the dungeon, as sort of a "secret boss" so to speak, that will only jump in if the dungeon heart is attacked. But he doesnt believe in the whole family giving up their lives for that. Just one boy per generation needs to be burdened with it. He also knoews that whoever gets asked will say "yes", which is why he didint ask his sons for it. He's arranged things so they will be contacted when he dies, and his final will is that only one of them takes on the job.
>>

"If you insist on telling the rest of the family, I won't stop you, but I think you should have your full potential unlocked. Tomorrow, we'll go see the pope, and he will help you with that, alright?"

Wisdom and Intelligence are two different things, though wisdom is a bit more nebulous. The latter is generally tied to things like "common sense" and "willpower". Besides, from a certain point of view he is being wise. Guarding the dungeon is a full-time job, you can't exactly "take a vacation" or anything. Forcing the whole family to do would blunt their freedom as individuals. It's all a matter of perspective.

>>36148119
That would be nice, a pity most individuals care only for them and theirs. Power accessed, attained, or otherwise had by them is in many cases jealously hoarded and guarded with the ferocity matching that of a crazed mother defending her kids. The latter is especially true of political or "supernatural" power (if it exists). Or hell, just try to take another man's gun.

The reason for this is simple, in power you have security. By being "more powerful" than most people around you in some way you can walk as a kind of god amongst men, confident that if any of them try to harm you (or insult you, if you're an arrogant prick) and/or those you care about you'll be able to make them regret that very badly.

I guess in the ultimate end, most people are a bunch of pansies and cowards, too scared of the "what ifs" to take any real chances that are implied by changing the nature of things somehow. Ironically, a thing meant to keep people alive (fear) is what's holding us all back in many ways. Sad really.

No, I'm talking about the "Scion has been fully unlocked" message. I know that Scion as a Class becomes available once Slave levels to 100, I'm talking about how the T2 Scion gets unlocked, and if being unlocked by a full Scion is the only way, or if there's a natural way as well.

>>36148934
Are you going to be ok adding all those new jobs? There are still a number of jobs in the pdf that don't have stats.

I hope so? well, the problem with those other jobs is that im not really inspired about them. Im at least going to try to give stat gain per level and a basic outline of what all these do

And yes, at some point one of the elder elemental spirits or gods had to unlock T2 Scion for someone
>>
Oh, btw, what's up with the QTG threads? I visited them yesterday and they were kind of assholes.

Even when I commented about ideas for threads or suggested some, all they could do was whine about me having a trip and say i wasnt talking about quests, then went back to talk about nothing quest related. Wth?

>"Up until now for many generations, there had been one scion and one guardian in charge of the keep, but I believe the gods sent you to us for a reason. A troubled age is about to begin. Or perhaps you are here to help usher in a golden age. I cannot see the future."

It could be argued that we are in for an age of trouble.

If they merely wanted to start a golden age, we would not be a scion, just a simple noble.

I think grandfather is screwing up, since as a fa/t g/uy we know save or dies suck for high end characters.

There are only so many auto res spells someone can have.

I wonder what the machinist is. It is the one that feels most of out place.

>>36149060

They probably watch out for good aligned scions to hand out unlocks to. They probably rise up from the slave class every 20-60 years.

Takes someone who is a slave, likely gets freedom and then still grinds down to the mid 50-70 dungeon levels.

Makes me a little sad. Someone wanted advice about some stuff, and people didint even talk to him at all other than me, and then they jumped on me for not being anonymous.

It bothered me a little that they whined about "we are anonymous so all opinions and ideas can be judged without worrying about who makes them" and then saying my opinion was invalid because I made it.

It also prevents people from actually getting help there. I tried it before as anonymous, and didint got any better luck. At the time, they ignored all my requests for suggestions so they could discuss who was sleeping with who or visitng who in RL. Gave the impression of just 3 guys who knew eachother and were using QTG as their blog/chat

Anyway yes, please give suggestions

Geomancer - you said you wanted to make priests do class stuff along with terrain mastery, so lets make Geomancers t2 healer upgrades, and priests are the t3 version.

Abilities-wise, how about:

Cultivation - [200 Mana] Summon Cha bonus natural animals that are appropriate for the terrain type. These animals are friendly to the party for one day, after which they react as normal for their type.

Passive - Negative terrain effects are halved against the party, positive effects are doubled. (I'm presuming things like desert or lava would have some sort of nasty modifier)

For the Priest,
Geomantic Aura-[500 mana] Priests can send power into a hex and have it respond to their call. All allies on the hex gain a buff while in that hex. All enemies gain a debuff. The effects granted vary by terrain type.

Geological reformation - [x mana] Change the hex type. (I'm thinking this should be equivalent to devadasi dungeon modifications)

Passive-Spells which grant status effects can jump to up to Cha bonus targets.

how do you determine their levels?

have you ever played the FFT series of games? i originally thought of the geomancer like the geomancer in those games, but wasnt sure on the stats growth

And yes the priest was meant to be like the devadasi, for hexes. Im still deciding how big a hex is. Is it measured in distance, or in how long it takes to cross it on horseback (time)?

Also, is the anon that told me about that manga with the voice actress highschool girk around?

Sniper-

Practiced Sniper - Sniper's nest trick now only requires a move action
Deadly Aim - Multishot or Manyshot can now be used with Pinning Shot, Disabling Shot, and Head Shot.

Passive - Triple ranged weapon range.

>how do you determine their levels?
Do hexes have natural levels? If so, use those. If not, maybe make it selectable, up to Cha mod?

It's from the nomad class tree, so it having marginal use in dungeons seems ok to me.

That brings up a thought, though - maybe make it so that you can sniper's nest on a moving mount, to get the whole mongol horse archer vibe going.

Yakuza-

Scowl:Make your displeasure with the enemy known. Make a Str roll against [Cha bonus] targets MDV. If successful, the target thinks you are the most dangerous opponent on the battlefield.

Tattoo: You get a supernatural tattoo. Every 5 levels choose an additional enhancement, which makes the tattoo larger and more intricate.

>And the house butler and maid are not normall either.
The house "butler" is literally a god who is "retired", and shepherding our family as his "retirement".
Personally I think that his persoanl influence and involvement has something to do with the family remaining such paragons of virtue for hundreds of years, and the reason he is doing it has to do with what the family is supposed to be guarding for the gods

I don't have the pdf right now, so apologies if I deviate from the original intention.

Spellchanter
These guys cast from mana crystals, right? I'm getting a quantity over quality vibe from them, so let's focus on casting a lot of weak spells from multiple mana crystals.

Link
The spellchanter can spend a move action to link a mana crystal and an extra one every 10 spellchanter levels. Any time you cast a spell without tricks and 1 sphere level below your maximum, all linked mana crystals also cast that spell from their individual MP reserves. Linked mana crystals lose 1 MP per round.

Quickcharge
Every death in combat charges all unlinked mana crystals of the spellchanter by the defeated character's total level.

Crystalize Elements - X MP
The spellchanter can produce an uncharged mana crystal with an element. All spells cast by this mana crystal automatically perform Hybrid with the mana crystal's element.

>>36156921
>>36150041
Spellthief
Redirect/repurpose spells, right? Not sure if spellthieves should be able to redirect Dragon's Force...

Pierce(passive)
A spellthief's spells ignore Reflect(and/or Shell). At level 10 spellthief, they can choose whether or not to ignore Reflect, and at level 20, they can choose for each individual target affected by the spell.

Redirect
When a spellthief blocks, they can choose to assume control over a spell cast from or aimed at an area within 100 feet from the spellthief. The spellthief chooses new target/s for the spell, and may apply their own spell tricks to it. The spellthief can redirect an extra spell every 5 levels, and at level 20, the range increases to 1000 feet.

Feedback/Mana Burn
Spend an amount of MP to deal twice as much Mana Burn to an opponent. That opponent loses 3 HP for every MP lost this way.

I like the idea of giving nomads horse archers, so I suggest replacing Sniper with Mongol, which has the following abilities:

Horse Archer: A mongol's mount counts as a stationary position for the purposes of sniper's nest.

Move-by action: While mounted, a mongol can use part of their total movement both before and after a standard action.

(Passive)Tireless - a Mongol's mount can move at full speed for an entire day without becoming fatigued.

The Oracle of the Void (Secret job)
+2 Dex
+2 Con
+5 Int
+2 Wis
+5 Cha

+2 Divine
+2 Elemental

(A) Divine ~ You gain access to the following Divine powers
Divine ~ You can use divine magic
30MP ~ The mind's eye: As a standard action, you can extend your senses to perceive any point you can see or know intimately regardless of distance (as long as it exists within the same universe). You experience the area surrounding this spot as if you were present but unable to take actions. You can only take free actions while using this ability. Dismissing this ability is a free action.
666MP ~ The End: As a full round action, you can create a small black hole within 60ft. It appears as a tiny orb of nothingness floating in place. Any matter in contact with, or within 5ft of the orb is automatically annihilated. You can use a move action to move the orb up to 30ft in a single turn. Creatures are automatically pushed out of the orb's path. You cannot use any other Divine abilities while The End is active.

[A) Elemental ~ You gain access to the following Elemental powers
Elemental ~ You can use elemental magic
100MP ~ Absolute Terror: As a standard action, you can roll intelligence against either the MDV of every creature and object in a 15ft radius area up to 60ft away, or against that of a single creature or object that you can see up to 60ft away. Affected creatures and objects are pulled 15ft in a direction of your choice and suffer [Slow] for 5 rounds.

(P) Void defines shape ~ Whenever you level up your highest level active job, add +1 to one attribute of your choice. If more than one jobs tie as your highest leveled one, choose one to grant the bonus to.
(P) Silence defines music ~ You can have Oracle of the Void active at the same time as other jobs. Exp is split evenly, and you receive a 30% total exp bonus.

This probably needs rebalancing
>>
>>36159216
The End isn't even a save or die spell, it's just a die spell. That seems too much.

Absolute terror is bad. Too expensive, minimal effect, extremely small chance of succeeding.
>>
>>36159216
Those passives mean we'll always have it active alongside scion.
>>
>>36159247
>The End isn't even a save or die spell, it's just a die spell. That seems too much.
You can't push it into a creature, tho. They will be automatically pushed away, you need to place it somewhere and then use absolute terror to pull creatures to it, which... well, you described it pretty well already

>Absolute terror is bad. Too expensive, minimal effect, extremely small chance of succeeding.
>>
>>36159216
Do exp bonuses stack additively or multiplicatively? Like, if scion and this are on at the same time, is the exp bonus 50%+30%= 80%, or 1.5*1.3 = 1.95, or 95% bonus?
>>
>>36159281
As worded, whatever you drop The End on just dies, since there is no movement involved so nothing gets pushed out of the way.
>>
>>36159295
only the highest exp bonus is active at the same time, I think

>>36159306
oh, thanks, ill add that when it appears or moves, things get pushed out of the way

Maybe I could change those two abilities? terror and end? the idea was to basically make a black hole that sucks your enemies in
>>
>>36159216
Make the End only appear directly above the caster, and do something to prevent summoning it somewhere where a creature already exists.

I'd suggest that it only destroys non-living objects, but leaving people naked isn't exactly terror-inspiring.
>>
A couple suggestions, though I don't know the game system very well and some of this might upset the balance (then again, gaming the system is part of the fun)

Cavalier
Death defier: A massive bonus to any action that would be highly likely (>80%) to result in death without it

Son of the Akasha
Truthfinder: By meditating on the Akasha, the son of the Akasha is able to experience what really happened in any event. Magical obscuration and a long intervening time/distance make it harder

True Namer:
Perfect Polyglot: By speaking in the true names of things, the True namer can sound as though he is speaking everyone's native language at once, with the exact phrasing the listener hopes to hear
>>
>>36159327
666MP ~ The End: As a full round action, you can create a small black hole within 60ft. It appears as a tiny orb of nothingness floating in place, and you can move it up to 30ft as a move action. Any creatures within 5ft of the orb when it appears are pushed away 10ft in a direction of their choice, as are any creatures in its path of movement. Any matter that comes within 5ft of the orb is automatically annihilated. You cannot use any other Divine abilities while The End is active. You can dismiss the orb as a free action at any time.

the Full Monty, uh? it can be pretty terrifying. Im terribly out of shape nowadays
>>
>>36159325
The problem lies not just with the spells, but their interactions with other abilities.

Take Landsknecht, for example, Whirlwind pushes targets back 5' on a successful Str vs PDV roll, which is far, FAR more likely to happen than an Int vs MDV roll.

I'd say give the black hole some set level of damage rather than being a death spell. Give it an area effect, and anything caught in it is immobilized for the duration.

Absolute terror should probably use a Int+Elemental skill roll and cost half as much.
>>
>>36159383
Well, if you want to get REALLY technical, losing all your body hair, stomach acids, and possibly nutrients would put you in a pretty bad situation.
>>
>>36159416
Nah, absolute terror is flat worse than the Thrust elemental trick. I think it needs to be reworked completely.
>>
>>36159416
>Take Landsknecht, for example, Whirlwind pushes targets back 5' on a successful Str vs PDV roll, which is far, FAR more likely to happen than an Int vs MDV roll.

I know, I thought it would be hilarious to kick someone into a pit created by The End while shouting "THIS,IS.SPARTA"

Well, I guess doing damage is alright, then. At the beginning of your turn, creatures and objects within 10ft take damage equal to your wisdom automatically? of course to help make it a strong and scarier event, this ignores all abilities, damage reductions, and even SR. It's "true damage" like we used to say in league of legends.

Then I could boost absolute terror to make it much harder to resist... im thinking it would be funnier if instead i renamed it "point of attraction". (Int + cha) bonus vs target's MDV. Affected targets move towards a point as best they can during their turn. So they walk to the orb on their own
>>
>>36159476
Perhaps have the damage scale based on Oracle levels, like 1xWis for levels 1-10, 2xWis for levels 11-20, etc.

Remaking absolute terror into point of attraction would be good, as any elemental spell with Burst and Thrust does absolute terror's job better.
>>
>>36159511
ugh its really hard to reword based on damage, can't use it as the tunnel-maker, portable hole I originally intended it to be, and its slowing me down on the job of writing the other stuff. Lets leave it aside for now before my OCD kicks in and I cant think about anything else
