/tg/ - Traditional Games

Welcome to the XXII installment of "Disney Villains Victorious."

Disney Villains Victorious is a new /tg/ homebrew project based on the idea of a world, not entirely unlike our own, in which all the villains from all the Disney animated feature films were not defeated at the ends of their movies but were instead victorious, completing their goals in part or in whole.

It is a world in which Ursula rules the seas, defied only by the uncatchable Pirate Lords, the cutthroat merchants of the East India Trading Company and the might of Atlantis and its magitech-toting mercenaries. It is a world where the grasslands and jungles and forests are prowled not only by fearsome primal beasts like Shere Kahn and Scar but also by the ruthless, tireless hunters that stalk them. It is a world where Europe has been divvied up between evil sorcerous monarchs like Maleficent, the Horned King, Grimhilde and Jafar, mad, inquisitorial clergymen like Frollo, and Dark Gods like Hades and Chernobog.

It is not, however, a world completely devoid of courage, heroism or hope. Around the world, the PCs' characters and their allies plot and plan, fight and strive and win their own victories against the villains that would rule them. The time to fight and to be free is now.

That may be true, but not necessarily what has happened in this setting.

I would still bang her.

Grimhilde Mirrorfetish, queen: The Fairest Queen rules the Mirror Kingdoms. I am queen. We are in the right in all matters.

PC, Adventurer: I am here to discuss serving your cause.

Grimhilde Mirrorfetish, queen: A particular outlaw has been causing us much hardship.

Grimhilde Mirrorfetish, queen: Appleeaten is a short walk to the southwest.

Grimhilde Mirrorfetish, queen: Seek this place and kill Urist Grumpydigging the Miner.

She was a psycho bitch.

>You didn't invite me to your party? THEN I KILL YOUR NEWBORN DAUGHTER!

That's exactly how a fae queen should be though.
>>
I think I might try to stat out a Hunnic Chinese Campaign character for fun. Just your standard, run of the mill human, but out of curiosity, was there ever any discussion about the possibility of playing an undead character within the context of Mulan's Spiritual War? Personally, I think that within this specific context an undead character would work nicely, but that it might not be entirely appropriate for this setting, and that many posters might not be in favor of it.

We're ignoring Maleficent apart from the fairie designs.
>>
Loving it so far, but I have a question: what about the Princesses? Are they the same ones as in the movies, or are there new and different ones? What relations would they have with the villains: would they be evil too, or would it be a disturbing and smoking hot "master/slave" thing?
>>
>>36157248
This is up to the discretion and/or perversion of the GMs.
>>
>>36157248
I think the only real answer I can give to these questions is 'Yes'.
>>
So people were going to re-make the Mononoke lore last thread or something?

I really hope i can GM this with some friends. They are professional actors working and composing musicals. They also make improv music and musicals.

Gaston is only a villain if you're a beta-bitch boy.

So what would have happened if Gaston had won? He kills a fucking kidnapping monster, and puts an objectively crazy old man in a place where they can give him the care he needs.

The Beast is like a metaphor for abusive relationships, and teaches young girls a terrible lesson: "Deep down beyond that raging, plate smashing shouting asshole monster is really a hurt little child that you can fix." It's like page one of the abused womans handbook.

What's Gastons biggest crime? That he's not really into Books? Who cares? Don't be elitist. He's a hunter, he actually contributes to the society by putting food on the table. He's got a lot of chicks into him? Does that make him bad? He could fuck any girl in town, he's looking for a smart interesting woman for a WIFE. Usually women consider that a GOOD thing.
>>
>>36157248

Of all the Princesses, I believe that we've only come to a consensus on three:

>Kidagakash of Atlantis has completely merged with the Heart of Atlantis, but has retained her consciousness and acts as a sort of guardian deity for all Atlanteans, coming to them in their dreams and protecting them through the crystal pendants they wear.

>Princess Anna of Arendelle was frozen solid and killed by her sister ice powers, causing Elsa to fall into the deep despair that doomed their country to suffer a permanent winter. That despair then animated her body, transforming it into a friendly but ditzy construct of blue ice.

>Mulan was killed by the Huns some time during their invasion and Shan Yu was able to take over all of China, executing the Emperor and usurping his throne. Unable to let this transgression stand, the Honored Ancestors raised Mulan as an unkillable, undead Joan of Arc figure to lead a Spiritual War against the Huns.
>>
>>36157087
Maybe a downgrade to agility in favour of one for ROBUSTNESS?
>>
Does anyone feel like writing up rules for playing different raptors, from Velociraptors up to Utahraptors?
>>
>>36157622
I'll have a crack.
>>
>>36157394
Or if you're Belle.

As her father is insane and she is a woman and therefore doo dumb to run her own life she'll be married off for her own best, and it's not rape if they're married.
>>
>>36157581

That might actually work. An agility cap with a boost to ROBUSTNESS. Or perhaps an intelligence cap? I don't know. I think it might be able to work out in a Chinese Campaign, seeing as the theme of that Land is good(ish) undead and spirits against the Huns.

Still working in my Chinese character.
>>

Can't think of more powers/traits

Raptor
Size - Small to Large
Natural Weapons - Bite, Sickle Claw
+2 to Agility, -2 to Robustness

Racial Traits
-Clever Girl - +2 on Brawl rolls against an enemy already engaging another character
-Thief Species - +3 on Legerdemain rolls

Racial Powers
-Fastest Thief- Spend a Will point for +10 on any Acrobatics or Athletics roll

Should any of the "villains" be actually not evil in this setting? Not necessarily good or kind, but just not as vile and malicious as they are depicted in their respected animated films? More like neutral forces that people don't understand and are afraid of, but who don't want to just destroy or rule humanity for the sake of ruling or destroying it? Maybe PC could ally with some of them if they behave a certain way or turn the neutrals against themselves if they do it wrong.
What do you think?
>>
>>36157836
Elsa, the Firebird (sort of), the Aurora Borealis, Alameda Slim, Radcliffe all sort of fit those criteria.
>>
>>36157828
Eh, I'd say only the smaller raptors get the stat adjustments. Good work though.
>>
>>36157864
don't forget President Rourke that glorious bastard
>>
>>36157836
I mean, it's not different then how he's depicted in the films, but Louie isn't malicious.

He's reckless and dangerous but he doesn't go out of his way to harm people, and can be quite helpful and friendly.
>>
>>36157864
>the Firebird
>The Firebird has no alliances; he serves no one, he cannot distinguish friend from foe - he is a primal living force of destruction. He lives only to destroy and despises all that brings life and creation. His only weakness is that he only destroys - he cannot create nor can he persist, as he returned to his slumber when there is nothing left for him to destroy.
Yeah, no.

No. It is the force of nature and nothing else, if we don't change it in this universe. There's no way PC's would be able to communicate or ally with it. Lure a villian so it eats him|her? Sure, but that's not really the same thing, they could as well use an avalanche or a volcano.
>the Aurora Borealis
Yes.
>Alameda Slim, Ratcliffe
Not really. These two are pretty much self-centred and egoistic bastards and don't really care for anything else but their miserable goals. They minor and pretty much powerless but would hop in place of the present big guys if given the power.
>>36157887
>Rourke
I guess so.

However, I was talking about other villains. What do those who don't strife for world domination want? Do any of them regret what they done, wish the past was different? Maybe the present state of the world irritates some and they are ready to help bring the most annoying rulers down just to so noone would ever bother them?

Like, should Queen Grimhilde even try to take down the players? Should Maleficent be as malicious?

If they threaten her power, Grimhilde will try to take them down. If one's them beautiful, she'll do her damn best to kill her. She's a narcissistic control freak.

Yes, Maleficent should be as malicious as she is. She tried to kill a child because her parents didn't invite her to the christening - and when that doesn't stick she tries her hardest to make sure the girl will never be woken. She's a fey, she calls herself the Mistress of All Evils and calls upon ALL THE POWERS OF HELL. Why on Chairman Bob's blackened earth would she not be as malicious?

Writing up a oneshot to start out, something simple (I know people in my group browse /tg/, so now is a good time for you to leave).

I haven't seen much fluff for the gargoyles from hunchback, so I'm planning on using a crazed one as the main enemy. I figured Frollo might order them removed from any church when he comes to power, so they all come to life and flee, some becoming feral without the church binding them. This one ends up terrorizing a small town, not important enough for the Inquisition to get involved, but a difficult encounter for a low-level party.

>Huo Zhi
>Medium Sized Chinese Farmer (Strong Guy)

>"Ohhhhh I can't be having with this..."

Huo Zhi is a farmer with modest desires and ambitions: all she really, truly wants to raise her children, farm her land and honor her ancestors in peace. She is also, however, a farmer with a temper who doesn't tolerate tomfoolery and who refuses to be pushed around. When the new Hunnic governor of her province began levying higher taxes and making examples of the farmers who couldn't afford to pay them, Zhi decided it might be time to find out more about this whole "Spiritual Rebellion" mess that her neighbors keep whispering about, and just who this "Ping Mulan" thinks she is.

It's not my fault

It is the anons there
The wizards sent this flame

It's not my fault

If in God's plan

He made the magic so much
Stronger than a man

Protect me, Maria
Don't let these siren casts their spell
Don't let their rules ruin my perfect game
Destroy all the wizards
And let them taste the fires of hell
And let these rules be mine and mine alone
Hellfire

I like the idea of Belle the Beast, if only to give the PCs more allies around the world. Besides, it would fun to fluff and crunch out Belle Beast as an NPC hero, and it gets REALLY fun imagining her like Beast from the X-Men, hulking and monstrous but super eloquent and well read.

I sort of figured that Ratcliffe would have utterly removed any trace of native belief in Virginia. I could see it persisting in the Old West though. It should definitely bleed into Elsa's realm a bit.

So how would Ice Anna react if she met Hans? Or if the players decided they wanted to kill Elsa rather than redeem her? Should the players be given a choice between helping Anna and helping Hans, if Hans is involved here?
>>
>>36159242
Will do.
>>
>>36159242
Don't forget about this one.

King: Captain Hook - Pixie Dust. Thanks to the captive Tinkerbell, Hook has outfitted himself and his allies with flying ships to best evade the wrath of the sea witch Ursula. With the pirates constantly thinking happy thoughts about pirating as much as they could ever want, the majority of the captains and their crews are capable of individual flight as well, making them formidable foes. (They are, however, prone to depression. Songs about mothers seem to cripple morale).

Lands: The Islands and the Cloud Sea. The islands controlled by the pirate alliance are constantly under siege from the sea, and so are largely unused on a day-to-day basis. Shore leave is a joyous occasion for the pirates, though very brief. PCs without flight must risk traversing the seas and catching one of the crews during their brief shore leaves before Ursula catches wind of the party and whips up a storm. The skies are where the pirates reign supreme, however, and any airborne group is a potential target for the loot-hungry pirate fleet. Walking the plank is nearly a mile down to the treacherous seas below.

Rule: Good Form. The crews of Hook, Davy Jones and the Pirate Lords abide by the strict laws of the Pirate's Code. The Code dictates everything of piratical life: rules of hierarchy, manners, fashion, engagement, combat etiquette, loot and just about every other aspect of life. The Code is to be strictly adhered to, and the pirates' views on the PCs will relate directly to it. A pirate PC would know the Code by heart, but any other would have to ask around or guess as to whether an question or action would possibly go against the Code. Violating the Code is a serious offense, one that could merit death if severe enough, though the rules can be skirted fairly easily since they're more of guidelines than actual rules.

Also hey all, I'm awake again.

>>
>>36159252
The players should ALWAYS be given a choice. They may have even been sent into Adendelle at Hans' behest. It's up to the characters and the players to decide what the best course of action is in dealing with the Snow Queen given the information they learn from Hans, from their own investigation and from what Ice Anna tells them.

I feel if Hans met Ice Anna, he would probably be taken aback momentarily by the thought that Elsa had raised an "abomination" before attempting to shatter her. Which might not work out too well for him seeing as she's made of magical ice with only a hazy understanding of human mortality. Ice Anna herself would probably just be thrilled to meet someone new who also knew the Old Anna.
>>
>>36159378
What if she knew that he killed the old Anna? And was also the one responsible for Elsa being the way she is?
>>
>>36159410

This hypothetical meeting makes me want to try and stat Ice Anna out as an NPC hero in the same way Mulan the Undying was statted out in a precious thread.

I think that as a REALLY sophisticated construct wrought from intense emotion and the body of a dead Princess, Ice Anna might have some access to the same frost magic that her "sister" has, albeit much less powerful and perhaps comically inept. At the very least she'd be able to keep herself from melting away, and at most? Perhaps some sort of freeze-on-touch and ice-bolt abilities.

Fulffwise... What Ice Anna would actually do if she had the knowledge of Hans' actions is a good question. I feel like she would probably ask a lot of questions, innocently and confusedly at first, starting off referring to "The Queen" and "Princess Anna." The more answers she got the more confused and upset she would become, transitioning to saying "Elsa" and "Anna" before finally becoming distraught and desperate and using the word "my sister" and "me," maybe not outright attacking Hans but trying to hold on to him or go to him seeking more answers to the questions that are hurting her.

The answer is probably 'not very happy.'

Random thought. So you need the original body to bring a Soul from Hades back to life, right?

What would happen if you crammed Anna's soul into Ice Anna? Is it still intact enough to be used? If it is, what about the fact that there's already somebody using it?
>>
>>36159629
Would she end up fighting the PCs if they try to fight Elsa? Hell, would SHE fight Elsa, if she thinks it'd put her out of her misery? Maybe Elsa worries that she will, and might be tempted to use her powers to assert complete dominance over Ice Anna's will. I could see her resisting that temptation, and probably going "what the fuck have I done" if she actually did it, but it might work for making her a little more morally grey.

Rule number one of Disney is that the power of Love, and occasionally friendship, can best ANYTHING.
>>
>>36159755
>>36159785
Well, can power, love and friendship prevail in a world where Cherno Alpha exists? Maybe it's him that's preventing the standard Laws of Disney from taking effect. With him around, the world becomes a little worse. Heroes aren't as lucky, people don't miraculously survive things that will kill you 99% of the time, and friendship won't let you overcome absolutely everything. I like the sound of that - our BBEG is so evil and powerful, the entire universe is objectively worse just because he exists.
>>
>>36159683

I really don't know how this scenario would play out. I believe but am not entirely sure that the current line of thought is that the process that made Ice Anna transformed her from a frozen flesh and blood body into a construct of pure blue and white ice.

I believe that LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP are probably the recipe for Arendelle's best case scenario, and that players and characters that choose this option ought to feel rewarded for having not just beaten the Snow Queen but having healed her as well. That being said, I can see three possible endings for Ice Anna in my head already: Bad, Bittersweet, and Good:

>Bad
>Elsa the Snow Queen is attacked by the party or is completely unmoved by their overtures of friendship, and does battle with them, bringing her full power and all her madness and grief to bear against them. As they fight, Ice Anna is stuck on the sidelines, desperately trying to stop them from fighting, and just before the killing blow is struck by either side, she leaps between them in an attempt to stop the battle. Ice Anna is struck, shattering into a thousand pieces, causing the Snow Queen to scream "SISTER!" and immediate stop fighting, dropping to her knees before Ice Anna's deliriously smiling and quickly fracturing head. "You called me sister..." She says before falling to pieces, leaving the once terrible Snow Queen a sobbing wreck, unable to do anything else to stop the party in their task.

>Elsa, the Ice Queen, is not entirely convinced by the party's negotiation techniques, and may as before begin to fight the adventurers in her throne room, with the party and Ice Anna working together to try and get the frosty monarch to see that things can still get better and that she is not a bad person at heart and can still do what's right, even if it won't fix all the problems she's caused all at once. Through the impassioned speech of the party leader and the heartfelt encouragement of Ice Anna, Snow Queen Elsa finally manages to wrestle control of her powers once again, causing the blizzard to break and summer to return in full force. Seeming relieved and in so tired after it's all over, both the party and Snow Queen Elsa turn and look for Ice Anna to congratulate her in her help. They find her, settled down peacefully by the open window, a balmy breeze blowing in. She has thawed out and once more is no more and no less than the flesh and blood body of Princess Anna, but she is smiling and looks happy in her rest at long last.

>Good
>There is no battle, no flinging of frost and arrows, no clashing of ice and steel. The party, along with Ice Anna, confront Queen Elsa not as enemies but as people who care and who understand the pain and the guilt the young monarch has suffered alone with for so long. They speak to her not as a squad of would be conquerors but as a group of new friends, as well as two very old, if peculiar friends. Ever so slowly, the fears stop falling from Queen Elsa's eyes, and she can bear to face these people, can bear to face Ice Anna, and can bear to face herself. Ever so slowly, the wind stops howling outside, and the great blizzard dissipates, leaving only sunny skies and quickly thawing snow outside. Rushing to the throne room's balcony the party sees that not only has Arendelle begun to thaw, but so has its people. All those flash frozen in the streets far below have begun to revive, as life and spring return. The party knows their job is done, but tell Queen Elsa that they need her to come with them, to bring her power and her might and her heart to help defeat The Lord of Bald Mountain. To this she agrees, though reluctantly, determined to go out and do good in the world to help make up for her mistakes of the past. She smiles to herself at the idea, mistakes off he past, and calls Ice Anna and Olaf out into the balcony as well, conjuring snow squalls above their heads to keep them frozen in the growing heat. Smiling to Ice Anna in a painfully shy way, she tells the construct that, while she is away adventuring, she is going to need someone to help the people of Arendelle recover and rule in her place. She says that the people of Arendelle could use a kind and familiar face on the throne, even if that face does belong now to a new friend.

What's our rules on various firearms? I assumed pistols would be +1 and longarms would be +2 like one handed and two handed melee weapons, but then greatswords are only +3 while shotguns are +6, even though they have the same Robustness requirements. Do shotguns have a higher bonus than greatswords because you wield a greatsword with Robustness anyways, or do guns just give higher bonuses than their melee counterparts?
>>
>>36160864

>Do shotguns have a higher bonus than greatswords because you wield a greatsword with Robustness anyways

Yes, exactly, but you can also explain it by saying that a shotgun is a far more advanced weapon that a great sword.

But balance wise, it's totally because you need Agility to use a Shotgun, while in Disney movies Shotguns are for people like Gaston.
>>
Should we put the capitals on the map?
>>
>>36160864

In general, shotguns aside, firearms should juyst be considered to be very good weapons.

Shotguns are just over the top weapons.

>The stories of dangerous beasts of the forests like bears and wolves and more Eldritch things from the Briarwoods being ripped to shreds are interesting.

>The stories of gifts being left on the doorsteps of poor families and destitute farmers, mostly enchanted antiques and well-read books are rather puzzling.

>The stories of stranded hunters and lost children being rescued from certain death in the deep woods by a great and mysterious She-Beast are completely unbelievable.

>You hunt on.

I like the concept of beginning as mooks of the area's villain until you realize all the propaganda you've been fed is a load of bullshit and assume the role of rebel hero.

A big part of the PC's origin stories can be this great realization that what they've believed may not be True or Right, like discovering that the She-Beast you're hunting is more noble than the man who tasked you to hunt her.

A lot of times, because it's retarded and you're the only one thart wants that.

Why should we use an idiotic mechanic from Pathfinder when we can just put the +2 directly into the Skill?

The Skills go from +0 to +3. Done. No need to write 1 into the character sheet and then remember to add +2 every time you use it.

If we do that, we'll have to change the math to skills going from 0 to 8 instead to keep the TN balanced and by extension traits and powers. >>
>>36162644
Fuuuuck, this guy again. Go away, Anti-Mage, we don't want you here.
>>
>>36162995
Which is exactly why, in our discussions on magic, we concluded that spells, or technology or alchemy (we might give players a choice), should be mostly support abilities. Setting an ally's sword on fire, brewing potions the whole party can use, creating force fields using Atlantean tech to protect your bros, channel an ancient spirit to give strength to your friends, that kind of thing. This is why some systems make magic a game-breaker: They don't know what wizards are supposed to do. They just let them teleport and throw fireballs and do whatever they want. We have a role for Sages. We have a purpose for magic/tech/alchemy/spirit channelling. They're there to make everyone else better. And most importantly, we know OUR magic is not PATHFINDER'S magic, and SOME PEOPLE should stop assuming it is.
>>
>>36163086
Except given a micrometer, the bastards known as wizards will take an astronomical unit.

NO QUARTER! Burn the witch! Punish the wizard! Purge the unclean!
>>
>>36163086

Let's start statting up some wizards.
>>
>>36163073
What kind of mage do you support a OC using?
If you say anything remotely similar to towing fireballs, teleporting, stopping time, flying at will, etc. , your opinion is disregarded because that is the only kind of magic user Nob disapproves of.
>>
>>36163086
What character aspect should incorporate magic? Powers, skills, traits ... ?
If anyone has the skill, they should consider making a model magical character. There was a genie a thread or two ago that wasn't horrible, but needed improvement.
>>
>>36162263
Yep, I should probably make Zealous Champion a trait instead of But It Is Not This Day!. How's this for a replacement power?

>Pick On Someone Your Own Size (or Bigger, Like Me): When an ally is physically attacked by an opponent you can spend a Will point to either A) take a move toward him and attempt to Withstand the attack in his place or B) take a move toward the attacker and (if in range) make a Melee roll against him.
>>
>>36163086
Then make some powers for it that emulate magic. It shouldn't fit under traits, those bonuses are too good for +2 or whatever. You need to keep it under tight control though, want to avoid magic buffs running rampant as the only real means to support.

Do we have a skill for alchemy yet, or does that fit under Science/Occult/Craft?

Anyway; game mastery.

Mooks: Mooks is a generic term for enemies the player characters will encounter that aren't generally important enough to have their own name or even last out the encounter. Mooks are defeated on receiving even a single Strike, and generally have a 7 in every statistic. They tend to only have 3 in any skill unless they're highly skilled, in which case it may be 4. Use liberally -- it makes the players feel powerful to run over crowds of Mooks. Villains should have at least a handful at all times!

>>36163181
The Genie was something I came up with on the fly. Any suggestions are appreciated, at the moment all I have is minor magicks for released Genies.
>>
>>36163154
Oh, for fuck's sake, will you stop it with this "LE ANTI-WIZURD INKWISISHUN ECKS DEE DEE" ebin may-may. It's not funny, it's not clever and it's holding back the project.
>>36163163
>>36163181
I was thinking we give the Sage class abilities at level 1 like being able to detect if an enemy is lying, or giving a friendly character they touch +1 defense.
By the way, a mechanic I've thought of to go with the Strikes system:
>Second Wind: By calling on their own determination, their devotion to their friends or some other source of energy, a character can roll 3d6 to regain 1 strike. More than 9 means that a strike is regained. Second Wind can be used (X) times per day.
If this is implemented, Sages might get a healing spell at level 1 that gives a bonus to Second Wind or an extra usage. Wouldn't directly restore a strike, since I think we should save those powers for later, but it'd help.
>>
>>36163220

Also, Mooks don't roll to avoid attacks: they just add 3 to their Attribute + Skill.

This means the TN you need to reach to hit a mook is usually 13.

I think it's a nice TN, since it means a skilled hero can automatically hit a mook, but maybe we should upp it a bit. Maybe they could add 6?

Still, they shouldn't roll: it's too much work for they GM if every mook is rolling to avoid being hit and there's dozens of them.

What do you guys think?
>>
>>36163298
>I was thinking we give the Sage class abilities at level 1 like being able to detect if an enemy is lying
That's rather impeding on the niche of the sensible guy.
>>
>>36163220
>>36163321
Sounds good for me.
>>
>>36163298
If you want, I can detail some games that are completely imbalanced by the presence of magician characters or equivalent.

>>36163321
17 would be a better TN to hit a mook. 20 is the average for attribute+skill+roll, but it's a bit too high for a starting character to reliably hit.
>>
>>36163338
Hmm, good point. Maybe he gives the ability to somebody else?
I don't want magic to JUST be "Make somebody else better", though. Then Sages would be no fun to play.
>>36163358
I've played Pathfinder, thanks.
>>
>>36163321
A small squad of mooks should be easy for a party of 3-5 to take out, but yeah 13 seems rather low. It should still be possible for a mook to actually hit a PC without extraordinary luck.
>>
>>36163338

Boy, do I agree: that's totally a Sensible Guy thing.

>>36163358

Yeah, 20 it's just too high for a simple mook: Player Characters should be able to hit them a lot more reliably.

Since an average Player Character is going to have at least 10 in his main Attribute and +3 in the Skill he uses to deal Strikes, that means he can't go lower than 16.

Let's say 18? So, Attribute + Skill + 8? It would mean mooks always roll lower than average, but not too much. Sounds fitting for a mook.
>>
>>36163298
No. Specifically because fuck you and fuck magic.
>>
>>36163387
A magic user could do something like produce a flash of light in front of an enemy's eyes to force them to take a -2 on prevent harm checks for the next round or something.

>>
>>36163444
Mooks roll +8 to Strike on 3d6? Sounds good to me, it should be below the average person's Prevent Harm score. Their Defense (pre-rolled Prevent Harm) should also be 18.

>>36163470
Something like that, sure. Just... keep it in check, okay?

>>36163482
There is magic.
It's usually evil.
This is a setting in which the villains won.

Magic is usually evil in this universe.

Moreover, most characters are the heroes, not the fairy godmother or stern teacher type that usually has magic.

And it's mostly so everyone gets the chance to heal up during a particularly tough fight even if there's nobody with healing abilities in the party. Not to mention I thought being able to recover by reminding yourself of your friends and what you were fighting for definitely qualified as Disney As Fuck™.
>>
>>36163482
I would also like for magic users to mainly have utility spells. Spells for combat should be very sparse, even at hero level.
Example: producing light from a smooth river stone for a couple hours, but after the spell wears off, the river stone crumbles.
Another example: Creating a bubble of breathable air around the head of one person in order to foil noxious gas or underwater areas. Higher level versions of this spell would grant a longer duration and the ability to cast it on the whole party at once.

>>36163582
Science skill is detailed in full on 1d4chan, but basically you test Science against TN20 to remove one strike from an ally over a couple seconds.

>>36163597
>light from a river stone
this has the problem that the Light spell did in WHFRPG; It literally destroys the stone. Cast it on a stone wall and it crumbles after a few hours.

>Creating a bubble of air: Clever. I like it, but we'd need to balance it against the Cauldron mist or whatever.
>>
>>36163538

>Mooks roll +8 to Strike on 3d6? Sounds good to me, it should be below the average person's Prevent Harm score. Their Defense (pre-rolled Prevent Harm) should also be 18.

No, I meant they add 8 to their Attribute + Skill when they Dod. . . when they Prevent Harm.

I think they should still roll when they attack, or a Player Character with enough defences could be literally immune to mooks.

>>36163582

Since Science includes Medicine, you can roll Science to make people regain Strikes while they are resting.

Remember that you can already recover Strikes by doing something cool and in character.
>>
>>36163482
And what has magic done for the populous in the setting? Subjugated them to A THOUUUUUUUUSAND YEARS OF DAAAAAAARKNESS.

Even though there's plenty of things that are magic, the wizards and witches and people who use magic should be feared and have the light of suspicion cast ever upon them. Because the last time magic users got strong, all this shit happened.

Its not how it actually is from an OOC perspective but its easy to see why people in setting would treat magic users like radioactive leper cannibals who shoot lasers from their eyes. So, less a crunch problem more a fluff problem of why anyone would let magicky guys fix their obviously magicky guy problem.
>>
>>36163551
Nah, Nobody isn't as much of a fag as the other guy. Don't get me wrong, he's a fag, but not THAT much of a fag.
>>36163597
Glad to see you and I agree.

>>36163597
Additionally, we should not punish people who choose to use their Smart Guy archetype for alchemy or tech use. They should all be perfectly viable but different in a few ways.
>>
>>36163635
That's... literally exactly what I said. They have an automatic Prevent Harm score of 18 (the number to Strike them) and to strike the heroes they roll 3d6+8.

>>36163644
Gee, thanks for calling me a fag.

>>36163653
This is rapidly going to lead towards that, you realize. As one section of the class gets more options, it's inevitable that it becomes a better pick than the others.
>>
>>36163635
Well, Science doesn't work in Combat, so I guess it works. Second Wind is partially intended for being the squishy one in a boss fight or a big encounter.
>>36163700
You're welcome. Fag.
>>
>>36163620
Good point.

okay, then the spell requires a smooth stone from a river, but the stone turns rough after the spell has concluded. And on the air bubble, it has a chance of failing if exposed to magical gasses.
>>
>>36163700

You made it sound as if I said that they should attack with 3d6 + 8, which is not what I said.

Mooks should attack with 3d6 + Attribute (7) + Skill (3). So, 3d6 + 10.

Remember that mooks don't usually get good shields, armors or weapons, so they don't get the physical bonuses a Player Character can get.
>>
>>36163642
Right. If people get wind that you're a spellcaster it's possible you'll be lynched.
>>
>>36163642

>>
>>36163824
You're extremely bitter about this. Why do PCs need to be capable of magic? Alchemy is just fine.
>>
>>36163821
Certain areas would probably be more tolerant of magic. For example, areas like the Shadowlands don't care and in Arendelle you do what you have to do to survive, but in the Grand Diocese you could get lynched for anything. They'll hang a guy if he coughs too loudly in public.
>>
>>36163856
I'm not being bitter, dude. That was a joke.
Also, fluff it as alchemy if you want. I won't come over to your house and beat you until you call it magic, I promise. Beating won't be punishment enough to convince you.

The system is done already, for fuck's sake. This one faggot comes in, starts some shit by insulting Nob and now look at this

For fuck's sake /tg/, you were supposed to be untrollable
>>
>>36163824
Funny.

But no seriously, look at the setting. Jafar, Grimbitch, Faciliter, La, Tzekel-Kan , Ymza. Big name human assholes who are known for three things: Evil, ruling, MAGIC. Its not like its not obvious that the average joe-schmoe is gonna think 'ALL MAGIC = EVIL!!!!'

>>36163821
Possibly. Like a peril of the warp, only is the peril of getting lynched by the mob.
>>
>>36163898
Look, alchemy is magic. It's just magic that requires a lot of reagents to get working AND it can directly benefit anyone in the party. Can we just leave it at alchemy and make the potions do cool things?
>>
>>36163910
You are sorely mistaken. Conventional troll techniques are slightly ablated by our cynicism and love for fantastic worlds but all that does is open up a whole new category of specialized trolling.
>>
>>36163910
How is including magic and laughing at Nob a troll? We've been laughing at Nob for ages. For Cherrybomb's sake, we made a parody of Hellfire about him. Besides, if the system is done, shouldn't we start working on the expansions? Like the one where we were going to add magic?
>>36163956
Then make alchemy a thing the Sage can do. Sounds good to me.
Ooh, maybe that's the only way a Sage can get blasty abilities: By taking about an hour to brew them in his downtime, and then sharing them among the party because he probably can't throw a firebomb for shit.
>>
>>36163938
>Possibly. Like a peril of the warp, only is the peril of getting lynched by the mob.
>At the bottom of the sea, the PC's are in dire straits fighting against flotsam and jetsam
>Wizard rolls to maintain breathing bubbles on everyone because fuckers are too stuck up to be turned into mer-people/sea creatures
>Fails
>Suddenly diving bells drop all around the wizard with pitchforks and extinguished torches out
>Stab wizard then zip up back to the surface
>Full party wipe because no breathing
>>
>>36164033

If you wanted to make it sound like a bad thing, you failed: that sounds awsome.
>>
>>36164033
As is right. Using magic to survive at the bottom of the ocean as opposed to superior Atlantean sub-oceanic powered suits? What fools.
>>
>>36163715
Also, I wanted Second Wind because otherwise we can't fit in healing without it turning into Strike removal/restoration, which is something we want to keep for later because getting a Strike should be a big deal, not something you can solve by chugging a health potion.
>>
>>36164072
Yeah, Magic should definitely be worse than its alternatives. The Sage is around to give you a slightly inferior version of all the things you can't have, and to improve the things that you do have. If you don't have any money, he'll give you a dollar/euro/pound. Give him 20 pounds/dollars/euros, and he'll give you 50 back.
>>
>>36158954
Laputa.

Shit now we know who Atlantis was fighting in the Antediluvian Period.
>>
>>36164026

Laughing at him is one thing, in good fun alright. Some idiot up there though comes in and says h the guy that made 60% of the whole crunch is holding the project back, that's a troll if I've ever seeb one.

Besides, seriously, magic was ruled out before. By fucking pools, too. Heroes don't use magic in Disney, and Elsa was a villain originally

Also, heroes generally aren't part of adventuring parties of more than one or two guys in Disney either, with exceptions. They almost always have a single clear protagonist and his sidekicks, which is not the kind of party dynamic we want to encourage. It's already clear that our characters won't be exactly like the protagonists of Disney movies. Besides, why shouldn't the wise old man who gives the hero his magic items and tells him to trust in his heart or something go along with him?

So, to compile a list of all the spells (I'll treat them as class powers for the Sage) we've come up with so far:
>Give +1 defense on touch (Nobody said it was a bad idea)
>The second wind thing, if we implement that
>Blind an enemy with light to give them a -2 on Prevent Harm checks
>Create light from a stone, said stone is then destroyed
>Create bubbles of oxygen for underwater areas
Nobody, do these sound okay to you? I'll let you help with statting them since that way you can keep an eye on us suspicious wizard types.

>>36164473
Come now, things can be so much more interesting:

King: The Firebird is the living (though some contest that the beast truly lives) avatar of nature's fury and power. A great bird, formed of lava, smoke, ash, and flame, it serves one purpose: the destruction of all it can reach. When it has spent its fury and power, it slumbers, for weeks, months, decades some times. But it always awakens again.

Some characterize the beast as evil, but this is a flawed judgment: destruction is the first basis for creation, as many young heroes would be wise to note. How else can good grow in this world if the Evil is not laid low? All things in nature grow, and all things in nature die. The Firebird is the bringer of that death.

Some theorize that this mission is the reason the Firebird's awakenings grow more frequent and violent over time: In a land filled with sorcerors, gods, and undead, the Earth is screaming in fury that these beings will not lay dead, as is the natural order. Savvy (and incredibly brave heroes) might be able to direct the Firebird's fury at such powers.

Lands: Many think of the Firebird's lands as a scorched, burning wasteland. And that is true, for a time. But those who think they STAY that way forget the old maxim: nature abhors a vacuum. Indeed, there are a wide variety of plants who only grow after they are burned, and wood ash is a strong fertilizer. Within months of the Firebird returning to sleep, his lands are verdant and rich again. There are a very few foolhardy souls who live in these lands, and some that seek to profit from them: That same ash is a powerful alchemical regeant. Ash-Rakers spend their lives living as close to the 'burn zone' as they dare, and rushing in when things seem calm to make their fortune.

Second wind still horns in on Science. Not sure if it should be included or not.

+1 defense on touch is okay.
Blinding an enemy is likely okay.
Bubbles of oxygen is okay but it needs a chance of failing before magical gases, cauldron mist, etc.
Light is actually a bit underpowered. Just enchanting a held object to glow for a few hours should be okay.
But I do have to agree with >>36164718; I'm not the sole arbitrator of what's fair. Don't cast off everyone else's opinions just because I think it's fair. I've been wrong before.

Also; we need to be very, very careful about how we implement magic; we don't want the technician and alchemist subclasses to never get picked because Sages have so many potential options.

Nob, a starting character gets two Powers (leaving aside species Powers).

Now, one Power comes from his Basic Role, but is the other one Country related or can it be whatever the Player decides to take?

Because I don't think it should necessarily be country related.
>>
>>36164922
Looking for ideas here: How else would you do healing that didn't involve Strike removal? That's the one thing I want to avoid.
>>
>>36164996
Nah, I think we decided against country powers -- you can take one if you want, but it's not required. You do need to take one from your Role, though.
>>
>>36164873

However, there are no true forest in the land: the Firebird's touch comes too frequently for that. And few beasts call the region home, for the same reason. And at all times, the threat lies heavy in the air, in the strangely soft and gritty earth you tread, in the burnt finger-bones of once mighty trees, in the occasional skeleton found embedded in the earth, blasted their by the scorching fury of this land's master.

One of the more intimidating factors of the Firebird's lands is this: his coming and power is heralded by the eruption of a volcano, and is related to the strength and size of the volcano in question. And all the Ash-rakers agree, there is one mountain that has not blown yet, and it is the largest they've ever seen. They call the mountain "Rain-less", and some Sages predict that if it ever serves as the Firebird's host, the ash could reach as far as the Virginia Colonies.

RULE: The Rule of the Firebird is: All Things End. In this land, life is cheap, bonds of friendship stutter and fail, and trusty tools break and erode. Nothing can endure forever in the Lands of The Firebird, and nothing should. Some say this power can be harnessed for good: that rubbing one's self in Firebird Ash while in his lands can end curses and enchantments. Some posit that obsidian from the area may make a powerful weapon against Gods and Cauldron Born. Unfortunately, to harvest such obsidian would bring one to the mountains and valleys most imbued with the Firebird's fury, and therefore is most likely to provoke him to waking. So far, no Ash-Raker has had the nerve to risk it.
>>
>>36164941
If you roll 10 over it's a Great Success and you get a better result than normal. 20 over is a Heroic Success and you get the best possible result and then some.

Rolling 10 under is a Big Failure, which means something bad happens instead. Rolling 20 under is a Bald Mountain Failure, which means something VERY bad happens.

Should we make rolling a 3 or an 18 crits?

Gaston's a villain, stop trying to tell us he's the real hero of the story.

Just a question, did we agree on what we'd do for Hero tier traits?

I liked the idea of doubling the existing traits and unlocking some that revolve around heroic situations. That +8 bonus when facing a villain with no strikes left was pretty good.

Can I still vote for that?
>>
>>36165106
Crits should generally be avoided, as while interesting they tend to make gameplay even more spike-y than a game relying on large amounts of dice already is.

Nothing's stopping you from making a power that gives bonuses when you roll multiple sixes and penalties when you roll multiple ones or whatever.

>Also; we need to be very, very careful about how we implement magic; we don't want the technician and alchemist subclasses to never get picked because Sages have so many potential options.

Easy solution: have the Sage class include those people, too. Wheter by casting a spell on a rock, covering it with a luminescent substance or using a chemical light, the end result is that you still make a small, portable light source.
>>
>>36165202
Fake strike that vanish from any new damage? Some method to remove some penalties accumulated?
Most field medicine doesn't focus on getting you better but getting you back into the fight after all.
>>
>>36165266
Then what penalties do you get from losing a Strike, besides getting closer to death? As far as I can tell, the only penalty that can be removed is the penalty of missing a strike.
>>
On 1d4chan, I saw things talking about social strikes or magic strikes. Do we have multiple strike groupings? Because that sounds pretty cool to me.
>>
>>36165308
Meant for any other kind of thing that mgith cause one not just strike Also because just saying the first one seemed too small to say.
>>
>>36165308
There are no penalties to having more strikes. Being closer to defeat in this grim world is punishment enough.

Multiple strikes are caused by two means; Rolling >10 over a target's Prevent Harm/Endure roll, or by certain villains that hit hard. For example, an ogre causes two strikes per successful hit, and on the far end of the scale Carnie Blag causes eight.

>>36165327
Nah, all strikes are the same. It's not you getting closer to death, it's you getting closer to giving up the fight or being defeated. This is disney after all, there's not a lot of 'stab stab stab you're dead'.
>>
>>36165258
Nah, I don't agree with that. Alchemy is fundamentally different. Alchemy is equations, Sages use invoking. Make Alchemy should be more potent, but be very short in duration
>>
>>36165401
Wait, so what exactly happens when you run out of strikes? This all seems a little too vague.
>>
>>36165430
You are defeated. Depending on the enemy, you could be dead (cauldronborn, unfeeling horrors from beyond space and time, the Friends stealing your soul) Defeated (most living enemies, knocking you out or imprisoning you) or just having a mental breakdown or being shamed so much that you can't continue (defeated Socially or Mentally)

It's intentionally vague so that the GM can improvise depending on the enemy.
>>
>>36165401
Then that's that possible use of healing magic removed. Only other possibilities I can see are Second Wind, which everyone seems against, Strike restoration, which I personally hate as an easy low-level thing because it seems OP, or just don't include healing magic, in which case a decent part of the role a Sage would be filling needs to be rethought.
>>36165429
Alchemy should be part of what Sages do. They're the Smart Guys. As such, it's their job to do Smart Things, be they invoking or equations.
>>
>>36165185

One thing, about Lessons.

I think we should use these Progressions:

Fast Progression
Skill: 2 Lessons; Trait: 4 Lessons; Attribute: 6 Lessons; New Power every 10 Lessons.

Medium Progression
Skill: 2 Lessons; Trait: 4 Lessons; Attribute: 8 Lessons; New Power every 10 Lessons.

Slow Progression
Skill: 3 Lessons; Trait: 6 Lessons; Attribute: 9 Lessons; New Power every 15 Lessons.

It's a very minor difference from what you decided, but I think it looks better.

>>36165327

Kinda, but we never really codified them. I think a GM should just wing it.

But yes, armors and shields only protect you from physical attacks, not from music or lies.

What counts as a physical attacks is something you should figure out using your Common Sense.

>>36165308
>>36165430

Strikes are an abstraction.
>>
>>36165460
In that case, I'd say that when you get to no strikes, you're Incapacitated. If somebody wants to drag you off to a dungeon or finish you, then you can't stop them. Even if they don't, you probably won't be fighting any more.
>>
>>36165494
Okay, mate, sages were not originally magicians. The basis for that subclass is Milo Thatch, from Atlantis. He's a linguist and has a doctorate. Magic should not be a necessary part of the Sage. The Sage heals outside of combat (inside combat healing is almost never good in any game) via using Science. Whether that means voodoo mumbo-jumbo to make you feel better, or a quick checkup to tell you you're fine, you big pansy, it removes strikes.

>>36165527
You could do that, but that runs counter to a lot of things we've done and to the game's theme. Once you're out of strikes, the next hit defeats you. There's no reason to add more levels of granularity to an already working system.
>>
>>36165527
Forgot to add: When incapacitated, your friends can restore you to fighting condition. If it's Social Incapacitation, an inspiring speech will do it. Physical or Magical Incapacitation can be a little trickier. Magical Incapacitation would be, for example, when Anna is iced-up enough in the film that she can barely do anything on her own. Olaf's able to restore her back up to a couple of strikes, but then she gets Incapacitated again later when she becomes an ice statue, but then Elsa's act of love restores her again.
>>
Would just like to pop in and put a word in on magic; I cannot recall a Disney character that could be called a 'caster' that wasn't a villain or support character (which includes mentors and plot devices). Rapunzel had ONE single magical ability, Elsa had no control over her powers, the genie was a plot device, etc, etc. 'Casters' are unsuitable for Disney protagonists, which is exactly what we're trying to play here.

I think that we can satisfy all needs for magical support between singing (enhanced with traits and powers, if need be), Will-point spending Powers and applications of the Occult skill.

>>36162328
>>36162644
The reason I originally wrote Zealous Champion as a power instead of a trait is two fold: one, it involves will points, and two, it can make a character a class and a half/third.
>>
>>36165510
Lessons: We've had a lot of arguments about these so the 1d4chan page is a compromise. the Powers thing is a reasonabl echange, but the Slow Progression skills should still be 2 because you want someone like they've improved every session if they want to.

>>36165588
Smart Guy means playing the support character. After all, no Disney hero was ever part of an adventuring party. It was always the hero and his sidekicks. So why not make the sidekicks PCs, give them more important roles?
>>36165640
>Implying magic doesn't involve both numbers and lore

The Red Robes mumble of God’s Might
But when they try to rumble
We’ll rumble ‘em right.
FROLLO AND INQUISITORS
We’re gonna purge the land
Tonight.
MALEFICENT AND FEY
We’re gonna break their hand
Tonight.
FROLLO AND INQUISITORS
We said “No more Fey,
No tricks.”
But when they try and jump us,
We’re ready to mix
Tonight.
ALL SO FAR
We’re gonna do it tonight,
Gonna claim this land for us once and for all!
They’re gonna get it tonight,
And the more they attack us the harder they’ll fall!
MALEFICENT AND FEY:
And they began it!
FROLLO AND INQUISITORS
And they began it!
ALL SO FAR
And we’re the ones to stop ‘em once and for all,
Tonight!
GRIMHILDE
Grimhilde’s gonna get her kicks
Tonight.
I’ll take it all from those stupid hicks
Tonight.
Laugh as all their plans backfired
Of course!
Don’t matter who first fired
As long as I’m last
Tonight!
HORNED KING
Tonight, tonight
Won’t just be any night
Tonight there will be no morning star.
Tonight, tonight, I’ll end it all tonight
And I’ll burn every star where they are.
Today
The minutes drag eternally,
The hours last a year,
And still the sky is far too light,
I swear on my bones
That I’ll make this endless day endless night!
FROLLO
I’m counting on you to serve your lord
Tonight.
When we set the final pyre
Tonight.
That dirty heretic’ll
Go down.
And when she’s a burning corpse
We’ll purge the towns!
(FROLLO, HANS AND ELSA SING SIMULTANEOUSLY)
FROLLO
So I can count on you, boy?
HANS
All right.
FROLLO
We’re gonna finish this endless brawl.
HANS
All right.
FROLLO
Womb to tomb!
HANS
Cursh the worms!
FROLLO
I’ll count on you to wait.
HANS
Tonight….
ELSA
Tonight, Tonight
Just another long night,
Tonight with all the frozen stars,

INQUISITORS
We’re gonna end it tonight,
They’re gonna get it tonight,
They began it,
They began it,
They began it,
We’ll stop ‘em once and for all.
The Inquisition won’t be stopped today,
The Inquisition will show the way,
We’re gonna purge it tonight.
Tonight!
FEY
We’re gonna rock it tonight!
Tonight!
They began it,
And we’re the ones to stop ‘em once and for all!
The Fey always get their way
Every day is our day
We’re gonna show them tonight.
Tonight!
GRIMHILDE
Tonight, tonight,
Late tonight,
They’ll see the error of their ways.
I swear I’ll have my day,
I swear I’ll have my day,
They’ll see I’ll make my way
Tonight, tonight,
Tonight, this very night,
I’m gonna end it tonight!
ELSA
Tonight, tonight,
Only the snow tonight
And for me time’s frozen in place.
HORNED KING AND ELSA
Today the minutes drag eternally
And the hours last a year
And still the sky is far too bright,
HORNED KING
I swear on my bones
I’ll make this endless day endless night!
ELSA
Oh moon, grow bright,
And save me from this never-ending night,
ALL
TONIGHT!

OHOHOH, NICE ONE!

Horned King's verse really fits Yzma more. She wants to get rid of the sun and he is the anti-song.

Really? And you never noticed that no one was calling their characters by the class names introduced in the earlier threads?

In any event, yes, in the movies there was always only one or two protagonists, but parties of protagonists is just one of those hiccups you get when transferring medias. True support characters, like mentors and plot devices, should stay NPCs.
>>
Is anyone prepared to create a new thread? This one is nearing the seventh and eighth pages in the catalog and has already been archived.

>The rising sun brings with it warmth and clarity of purpose, banishing the doubt that had clouded your mind the previous night as well as your pudgy pixie's snoring.

>The morning light also reveals the sight of a burnt-out ruin, perched on a crag roughly half a day's walk away, towering majestically but forlornly over the dark boughs of the forest.

>You are told by Brandy, her real name and one you really should have guessed given her fondness for the contents of your flask, that you have nearly reached the She-Beast's lair.

>You are told that it is there, in the basements and caverns beneath the castle ruins, and something stirs at the back of your memory. Something about a castle and a fire.

>Something about Gaston.

>You shake the discomforting thoughts out of your head and take extra care in preparing your rifle and ammunition for the day, knowing that today is the day that you will face this She-Beast.

>Today you will kill it, or you will be killed by it.

>The hunt will come to its conclusion.

You changed ROBUSTNESS to Robustness. I don't like that.
>>

Alternatively, we let people play as all the non-evil Disney characters, not just as the Disney protagonists. Because let's face it, Disney protagonists tend to be a little archetypal. Not every female protagonist will have a song about how they want more.
>>
>>36166046

ROBUSTNESS! will always live on in my heart, but I thought (and still think) that keeping it that way in the actual rules just because I liked to write it ROBUSTLY! was kind of silly.

Come on, man, step it up.
>>
Shall I start a new thread? I feel there are Crunchmeisters here better equipped than I.
>>
>>36166107
And playing Merlin, a classic mentor, won't be archetypal too?

Besides, let's face it: pretty much every tabletop system out there is about playing the protagonists.

I'm currently starting one. Just going over the pastebins.

Even if your magic user character is a protagonist, their abilities should mainly be about support and utility.
Again I stress that alchemy should really be the only kind of magic employable by the PCs barring magic items.

Hey.

Keep it PG, mister. This here's Disney. If any sex happens, it should only be implied rather than directly stated.

Azriel Ashworth worked for Alameda Slim in the disputed zone on the border the Wild West and the Shadowlands as one of Alameda's rough riders. Facilier's minions came to take the town Azriel was stationed at beating the rough riders handily. Azriel quit after Alameda commanded his rough riders to retreat, leaving the town's inhabitants at the mercy of Facilier and his friends on the other side. Azriel stayed behind to trade his soul for those of the townsfolk, but the friend on the other side took his soul, and the townsfolk anyway. Azriel rides now to first wipe away his debt and get his soul, and bring Alameda and Facilier to justice.

Nobody does nothing wrong like Gaston.
>>
>>36158737
>Belle Beast
>not a terrifying werewolf

Come on guys seriously, Gaston did nothing wrong except for be big for his britches, and that's mostly just cus he's a big fish in a small pond.

>Gaston, after killing the beast and setting fire to the castle, goes back to the township and becomes a local hero
>he quickly becomes consumed by his glory and delves deeper into narcissism, eventually being able to afford a fiefdom
>if he's not treated like a king he resorts to beating up/ humiliating townsfolk who he feels have done wrong by Gaston
>>
>>36165163
He's only a villain because of the plot though. We're making a setting here, and setting > plot. There's a lot more interesting things to be done with Gaston as a hero than with Gaston as a villain, anyway.

Yes, he was the villain in the story, but really there weren't any heroes or villains in that story. Part of why I love that movie is how morally gray all of the characters are.
>>
>>36167706
He's the villain of the story, thus he is victorious.
>>
>>36167754
And he gets his waifu.
>>
>>36167754
But if we're going for a grimdark disney here, gaston's victory could only really lead to good things, unless Belle turns evil via beastification, or unless Gaston becomes a corrupt leader of some kind after his victory (as narcissistic people tend to do).
>>
>>36167706
I really think someone of his nature in this setting would find himself swept up in some dire plot or another.
>>
>>36167894
He's one of the Hunters' League with Clayton, McLeach and some others.
>>
>>36167780
Alternately he don't get his waifu, which made him bitter and lead to him becoming genuinely evil.
