This'll probably be a short thread again as I'm getting back into the swing of running. That being said

Three of you stand over the map board spread across one of the tables in 2Pz’s intel shop, but only one of you seems to be doing anything of importance.

You and Anderson, with your notepads out, rattle off all the enemy vehicles you saw – including the hellhounds and dismounted infantry. Whittman, for her part, stands at the end of the table, writing onto her own notepad. Your support staff had pulled the guncam footage out of Booze Hound, so anything you missed would be caught – although you didn’t miss anything.
“All of this, moving northeast? Hm.” Whittman taps her pen on her lip. “Thoughts, gentlemen?”

Anderson beats you to the punch. “If I had to guess ma’am, I’d say they’re regrouping. Every probe they’ve made at the line has been broken up by air and armor, so they’ve got to consolidate what they can. I’d put my money on a push to break somewhere, although I couldn’t say where.”

Your CO nods, scribbling. When she looks up, it’s at you, and it’s expectantly.

“Well, we know they’ve got a line back behind Strausberg, right? So it’d make sense that they’d be moving a beat up column there for rest, repairs, replacements, et cetera. The only thing that I’m hanging up on is that they weren’t moving as a sole armored unit – they had full support and infantry shops with them. This wasn’t a unit moving back to get patched up, this was a full strength unit being shifted.”

“Captain, I believe that’s for the intelligence staff to decide. However, I’d agree with you. Especially since they had scouts out – we’ve seen that the units that have been in the fighting and have taken losses don’t put skirmishers at risk like that.” Whittmann says, looking at the map.

Your position had been damn near two thirds of the way to Zossen, almost a straight shot from HQ at Trebbin.
“My only real concern,” she continues “Is that there’s no strategic assets near Zossen outside of the town itself. So they’d have no reason to be moving units near there. There are no airstrips for fast air, the only clearings large enough for airmobility or heavy artillery assets have remained clear for fear of high level reconnaissance flights, and there’s no major crossings there either. None that could hold armor, that is.”

Anderson cocks an eyebrow. “What do you mean, other than the town itself?”
Whittmann, pointing to the map, replies “Well, look where it is. It’s a perfect foothold for – “

(2/3 Bah, miscounted)
>>
>>36165077

“Fucking Berlin!” You shout. “They’re gonna punch at Berlin! Look! That road, it’s a perfect lead in on the side of our line! If they push from across the Spree and from Zossen all at the same time, they’ll turn our line all the way up into the Baltic!”

Whittmann looks at you, then the map. Then at you. Then the map.

“Mein gott.” She gasps.

>[] “Let us punch out to the wire and get eyes on, this is what we’re designed for!”

“Ma’am, recon and spearheading is what we’re designed and trained to do. Let us get out and put eyes on.”

Whittmann, after issuing some rapid fire orders in Deutsch to one of her command staff, looks coldly at you.

“Captain, I’ve got you pegged as a loose cannon – almost literally. Do you really expect me to let you go conduct your own ‘recon’ operation against an enemy force vastly superior in strength? Because the answer is absolutely not.”

You start to reply, your blood boiling, before Anderson steps in, cutting you off.

“If I may speak candidly, ma’am?”

For her part, Whittmann nods.

“Captain Bishop may have come off as a ‘loose cannon’ to you, but I’ve never known a company level commander to assess a situation more fully before taking action. While I understand your concerns – almost deeper than you can, if he fucks up, my troops pay for it in blood – you’ve gotta let us do our job eventually. Nobody here is better suited to conduct a recon, or movement to contact than we are. And this mission screams ARSOF.”

Whittmann glares at him for a moment or two, before muttering something about bloodthirsty Americans.

“Captain, you seem to have come into a very well spoken second in command. I’d advise you to keep a hold of him as best you can. ARSOF is to recon in force until initial contact – then immediately pull back. Do I make myself clear, gentlemen?”
“Yes ma’am!” you both reply, in unison.
Leaving the command tent, Anderson pulls you aside.

“Sir, I know I don’t have to tell you this, but you’ve gotta swallow some of that hate you’ve got for that girl. She’s doing the best she can under the circumstances and you haven’t painted a very good picture of us in her mind. Whenever she makes a stupid decision, I’ll wait for you to say something first, but you can’t be – well, excuse the term – you can’t be a raging cockbag about it.”

Problem is she doesn't know that, that engagement and its reports and AARs are classified, so she's only heard the gossip about it, and knows that we lost a tank and it's crew, that's all she knows, and we didn't make a favorable first impression with her, although she was biased to start with.

Good medicine is bitter. You don't nicely ask a frontline veteran back in line. You make a point. She did. Not diplomatically, but if she was already informed about his bro's survival, it might not hat occurred to her we did not actually know.

In any case, what better example to to use than your own brother in a burning wreck after doing exactly that kind of shit?

She does not want to lose her troops. Not for some harebrained scheme by a tanker who declared himself savior of the universe.
And especially not that tanker.
>>
>>36167337
She's a bitch. I know that very well.

She was also afraid of losing any more people, and didn't want a glory hound for a CO. Jake acted a bit like a glory hound (to her), and then denied being one.

Wittmann sees that as Jake not accepting the truth. She gets evidence of his family being glory hounds (at least in her eyes), so she shoves it in Jake's face.

She's smirking because she just won the argument, Jake's mad at her using his dead brother to win a petty argument.

Both of them end up pissed at each other. She sees Jake as a glory hound willing to sacrifice his own men for the honor (reinforced by the loss of one of the tanks on a classified op), Jake sees her as a bitch who only wants to win the argument.

In order to not do your best teenage girl impression (rolling your eyes and crossing your arms, while exhaling loudly), you nod.

“Yeah, I hear you LT. I’ll handle my shit. Get your boys ready, we’re stepping off as soon as we can.”
Back at the Booze Hound, Nicky, Hans, Rockfield, and Michael all sit, flicking cards at each other. Nicky, with the radio handset clipped to his belt, notes you coming first.

“What’s the word, sir?”
“Pack that shit up, we’re stepping off. Recon in force. I’ll explain en route.”

Your crew jumps to, Michael carefully placing the cards back in their beat up carton – then back into his armor’s inside map pocket. How he deals with that box poking him in the ribs while he’s loading the gun, you’ll never know.
Shortly, after Booze Hound has been fired up, your company sits at the gate leading out to the MSR.

“Vehicle and element commanders to Penetrator six, I’ll give you a quick brief while we wait to step.”

Promptly, everyone who’s placed over someone in your TO&E are gathered around your vehicle. You quickly go over the map.

Are you seriously conflating "Got commended because of the completion of a unexpectedly difficult objective" with "Deliberately puts troops in danger for the explicit purpose of getting awarded?"

What the actual fuck.
>>
>>36167726
But the whole op was classified. All she knows is that on that op one of our crews died and we got a medal for it.
>>
>>36167693
You realize that if we pulled out that our allies flank would have been exposed, right? That us fighting that fight was really the only option we had and even then we did everything we could to keep shit from going even worst.

And even then that doesn't answer my question of when he did do it for personal glory. Answer is. He fucking hasn't.
>>
>>36167749

“Alright, gotta make this quick so listen up! ARSOF is to conduct a recon in force just south of Berlin, in order to get an idea of just what the reds are gonna throw at the line – ‘cause it’s coming. We shouldn’t have to engage shit, unless it’s in self defense keep those guns cold! We’ll take MSR Cheetas up as far as we can, but keep those eyes up! As soon as anyone sees anything, call it out so we can disperse. Real simple here boys and girls, so let’s keep it that way. Four vees out, four vees back in, roger that?”

You trace the line of a German freeway up into Berlin while describing the MSR you plan on taking, although everyone knows what you meant. Anderson’s men had gotten in with the intel shop of 2Panzer and had quickly renamed the main supply roads from famous German commander’s names to the names of their favorite strip clubs back home.
On the whole, there are no questions from anyone. A few snickers here and there, but generally, the plan is accepted.
Your four vehicles rumble out, Siegel, Ooishi, and Rosalez on point. Right behind them, Booze Hound, then the “2 Wykyd Hot Wad” – aptly named by Carl and his crew. The Myrmidon vehicles bring up the rear.

Though tense, the ride up to the outskirts of Berlin is quiet. A few CAP flights overhead is all, no artillery harassment – which is odd. Usually there’s fire from both sides – “light and interdictory”, they call it. Somewhere in the back of your mind, you think eight to ten batteries firing for effect every half an hour at random coordinates doesn’t really constitute light, but what do you know?

Ooishi calls a halt to the short column just shy of Ludwigsfeld, a suburb of Berlin.

“Sir, you might wanna come up and look at this. Recommend you dismount and bring Binos.”

Whittman's obvious got some underlying psychological issues here. As seen by Saudi Arabia, we know when you need to be hard to reinforce a point, the issue is that Whittman has always been all stick about it, no carrot, when the Penetrators only got really got hardassed when conventional, rational people methods weren't working. She was also way overstepping her bounds at the time as a subordinate to try and use the potential death of a relative (and national hero) to reinforce her point. The fact that she's basically letting her personal distaste for Jake getting in the way of using her forces effectively doesn't help. We'd appreciate it if she stopped assuming stuff about us and try to actually do something about this situation like a person rather than just "YOU'RE A LOOSE CANNON PANTS, GIVE ME YOUR TANK AND YOUR BADGE".

Depending on what Anderson means (Either, he's calling us a cock bag currently, which we don't see as true, or he's telling us not to just smack Whittman with out metaphorical nuts when she makes a dumb decision, which we shouldn't), he may be right, but that doesn't mean that Whittman doesn't need to sort her shit out as much as Jake needs to do anything.

You look at Nicky, who smirks at the thought of you acting as an infantryman. You tap him on the back of the helmet with the handset, before clipping it on to the back of his collar.

“Watch this. I’ll be back in a few minutes, I hope. Think. Whatever, both.”

You grab your super shorty from it’s place under your seat and stick your binoculars in one of your pants’ cargo pockets. After making sure your immediate area is secure, you pop your commander’s hatch and scramble off the Booze Hound, down into an alley between a pair of buildings. Hans sticks his head out of his hatch.

“Sir, if uh, if ‘shit goes down’, as nikolas would say, I will move the tank into the nearest cover. Probably behind this row of buildings.”

You nod your approval.

“Sounds good to me, just tell Nicko to not pump me full of railgun if I have to haul ass back around the corner.”

“Haha, Ja Captain.” His hatch seals itself back up.

Ooishi and Seigel’s position, a shadowed blind behind a corner store – between some trees, offered a commanding view of the MSR into Berlin and the city proper’s skyline. It is sort of breathtaking, but you know that in a short period of time – maybe even the next five minutes – heavy fighting will certainly detract from its aesthetics.

“Alright Sushi, what’ve you got for me?”

She shoulders her rifle, looking down the high powered optic at the road. You follow suit with your binoculars.

“Alright sir, see that yellow car about, oh, six hundred meters out?”

“That’s the one. Alright, orient off that. Look about ninety degrees off that, just down off the MSR – under it. See that kind of uhm. Plain looking tree? If I didn’t know any better, I’d say that’s a camo net out around it.”
Following her directions, you look down under the MSR for a plain looking tree – although having spent as much time in the Pacific Northwest as you did, all trees that aren’t fuckmassive look sort of plain to you.

Then you see it, a nondescript pillar of tree trunk, almost blending in perfectly. In fact, if it weren’t for just how overly normal it looked, you’d probably have glanced right over it.
“Yeah, I’ve got it. Whaddya reckon is behind that, girls?”

“I couldn’t say, sir. If it’s anything like – “

“No birds.” Siegel interrupts. “There’s no birds singing here.”

It takes you a moment to realize just what she means – or what she’s trying to get at. Anderson had gone over it with you. Birds singing meant nobody was in the area. Lack of birds meant that there had been movement – recently.

“Well, shit. How far away from NATO lines are we?” You ask, setting your binos back into your pocket.

“Ten, fifteen clicks maybe. Give or take - more from ours.” Ooishi replies.
Seigel, eyes locked on the MSR, holds her rifle at the low ready. “If we had to guess, we’d say at least a division of Guards. Maybe more. We need to get this shit out on the net, sir.”
“Alright girls, pack it up. We’ll pull the myrmidons out first, then you three, Achillies will bring up the rear.”

2/3
>>
>>36169693

They nod, waiting for you to get back into the Booze hound before wheeling around and taking off behind the Myrmidon IFVs.
Hans spins Booze hound around behind the other Achillies of your armored group. Hopefully this information would prove handy – an entire Guards division sitting on the outskirts of Berlin. At least.

He knows.

Hell, he lampshades the damn thing in conversations and has already suggested 3 ways.

What do yurifags have anything to do with it?

and I thought it was mention several times why Frank acts the way he does. It's notthat he's dense, he has a lot of shit going on.

>>36171309

They hardly post in this quest. If anything, blame anon for trying to collect all the waifus as opposed to dedicating attention to one of them.
>>
>>36171407
Yeah, that conversation with Mav kinda solidify it.
>>
>>36171382
I think he mentions Slider too.

Also Bridgette but I think it's more of a lust thing then relationship yet.

>>36171407
Don't quite recall the threeway. When did he mention that?
>>
>>36171457
Brigette has mentioned a threeway to Ice and I think Mav has made comments on it too

What's wrong with collecting all the waifu at least the main three. Nothing bad is happening besides the occasion waifu argument but those don't come up as often.

The only people who have a problem with lesbians are people who probably also post on /r9k/ about 'good' women being 'robbed' from them by lesbians.
>>
>>36171561
Raikov does have some unhealthy obsession for Red. Red, in other hand is still okay with Pierce.

But it funnier to wear your yuri goggle for them. Besides, PJW is based partially on Metal Gear and what is metal gear without some

I say that in terms of a harem bickery mess it caused.... and I really had no preference ,not with how fast thigns were rushed or all the pathetic bickering that happened.
>>
>>36173029
Harems are shit because they ALWAYS cause bickering, especially when they don't happen.
>>
>>36173052
They are also shit because it reeks of wish fulfilment bullshit that caters to people who don't give a shit about the characters or the story, they just want to have someone write them a threesome with their favorite animes that they can jerk it to.
>>
>>36173052
I use harem as in harem anime: tons of teasing but only one girl wins: usually the worse.

>>36173130
Yet not going with them results in VMQ2-grade shitstorms or SW89 style quaqmire stalemates.
>>
>>36173130
Right then, just keep on ignoring all the characters feelings and the situation in the narrative.

The only one who doesn't care about the characters is you, otherwise you would actually remember what the characters themselves have had to say on this matter, which you very clealy don't.
>>
>>36173175
I haven't read vmq2 and I don't mind the dynamic in sw89, excepting when people get riled up about samefags.
shrug.
>>
>>36173175
>Yet not going with them results in VMQ2-grade shitstorms or SW89 style quaqmire stalemates.

The people who care this much about them are not worth listening to in any capacity whatsoever. Haremfags leaving any quest should be considered a blessing. They are more annoying than yurifags, and they are more of a presence in every quest.
>>
>>36173130
You used that argument earlier in the thread when you were shitting it up sperging about Wittman, now you're using it again, and its still just as invalid.

>>
>>36173281
A trip would solve a lot of problems, Mister 'I Contribute Nothing To Any Quest I Claim To Contribute To'
>>
>>36173313
Go on, go and actually run a quest for once in your pathetic excuse of a life, and then insult and ignore every player you get, see where that gets you.

You contribute less than nothing to these quests, you actively detract from their quality and deliberately start shit among the players and turn these threads from something fun into a fetid cesspit of bile and vitriol.
>>
>>36173307

It was pretty much settled then Jess just reignited that powder keg for no reason
>>
>>36173691

but jess is amazing!

Well, for me. She's a lot of fun to write, but i suppose mileage may vary depending on how the MC deals with her, so I guess I can see where she got really irritating in PJW, but never really seemed to be in 89.
>>
>>36173671
>>36173688
I meant in general but I can't quite recall where I got that from it's not that from SW89.
>>
>>36173720
Thats the thing, she's funny and entertaining when she's not trying to shit everything up by trying to play a cupid with down syndrome, she was just a completely unwelcome addition to that and made all those interactions a gratting chore

when Jess is being Jess in 89, she's fine, but in PJW she's an entirely different character for all the wrong reasons
>>
>>36173720
Oh I had fun with her in SW89 it was amusing to see her go about.

In PJs she got a bit irritable so my opinion of her went down.
