“Nah, stuff that’s not my place sharin’,” you’ve tied the bag off and lifted it out of the trash bin, the tsukaima inside has started squirming around, and you thinks she’s about to try an escape when TENKA THE MIGHTIEST OF CATS give the bag solid punch where her head probably is. The squirming stops.

“YOU MAY TAKE THE TRASH OUT NOW PARTNER I HAVE SILENCED THE ISSUE. WHILE YOU ARE GONE I WILL BEGIN FIXING THE MESS THAT SHE HAS CAUSED,” TENKA says as he starts with the nearest broken glass piece.

You watch for a moment as all the small shards that went everywhere float up from the ground and back to their proper position, John picks it up once its fixed and puts it back where it should be. You shake your head with something between amazement and giddiness from watching it break in reverse as you take the trash bag out his garbage bin.

When you drop it in there you notice it becomes less filled and you figure she finally gave up and went back.

You head back inside to see John and TENKA working through the mess she made, “You know I can’t tell you how glad I am you can fix this shit,” John’s voice clearly relieved, “I thought I might have had to accept the deal just to fix all these things before my parents got home.”

You head into the dining room to see a man clearly in his twenties chilling where your father usually sits, he already has a plate of food, and is eating calmly, he’s got a leather jacket thats open to reveal a shirt with ‘Keep calm, I’m a professional.’ on it. His unkempt brown hair is almost stylish in its mess, and his beard hasn’t been shaved in probably a week. All in all he looks like he just rolled out of bed after sleeping for a week and threw on a leather jacket.

The man doesn’t even acknowledge you as you set your plate down, “So uh, is there a reason you’re in my house?”

“Yeah, I’ve a job offer to make,” he says in between bites, “It pays pretty well, though not in cash so don’t get your hopes up.”

You look at Kat who hasn’t sat down yet before gesturing to the seat next to you, further away from the man. She nods and sits down, she’s biting her lip.

You pat her leg reassuringly, “What sort of job then? and I’m not interested in drugs so if thats what it is you can go fuck off.”

Well, I suppose I mainly disagree on tactics here. He's already sitting at our table offering us information. We can summon Tenka to verify he is what we think he is. I just feel we should concentrate on learning about who this guy is and what he's offering rather than posturing in front of someone who might be a useful resource.

I really do want to hear him out, but I also don't want to let him set the tone for what's acceptable behavior for approaching us: we already had to deal with an intrusive and pushy recruiter already, and if we don't at least try to set boundaries then it'll allow them to justify even more invasions of privacy. I'm loving the theme of "actually works together with her(his?) shadow" compared to all the others who fight and resist. Girls might not be traditionally interested in power and sex, but those are the top two things on every guy's list.

“Well, but thats not so much why I’m bringing it up, only part of the reason,” you brush her worries off, “There was a Tsukaima over there wrecking shit trying to make him make the deal because I puked magic into his toilet.”

Beth’s silent for a moment, “... did he make a contract? You would have called me earlier if he did right?” she sounds unsure.

“Nah, I called Tenka, he wrecked its shit, and told John that if he didn’t want anything he shouldn’t bother making that contract. He passed on it.”

She lets out a sigh of relief, “That’s good to hear, John would probably try and minmax this shit.”

You can’t help but laugh at that, “No fucking kidding, right?” You’re silent for a moment, “Ah right, keep an eye out on the park near Johns place, closer to my house right? A demon should be spawning there soonish. It’d probably be best to take it out before it gets strong.”

“.. Yeah, alright I can do that, though I’ll have to walk there. My tank of gas is almost empty,” Beth sighs at that.

Personally, I'd prefer that Shadow Alex was a unique being generated from us during our transformation.

I could see her being a single reflection of a being that links to every magical girl ever, but that feels less "special" and more like it's manipulating the girls for some long-term plot.

Which could be why people try to fight their shadows: Their initial offerings are useful, but there's a diabolical scheme at the end of it all.

Here's a random theory (that I actually don't believe but what the hey): the "shadows" of magical girls and boys come from some sort of entity but are molded by the personality of the magical boy or girl. When bursts happen the darkness shed off return to the entity, containing information and memories. So, basically, Shadow Alex has a general memory of "her" time with Beth and Kat, but she isn't in constant contact with their shadows and the entity she came from
