>Official Team & "Infinite Match" Bracket Listing:

http://pastebin.com/P8r0UbAE

>Introduction & Summary:

You are Katja Hartkern, one of the most talked-about competitors in the Martial Arts extravaganza of the season ("The King of Fighter's: Infinite Match", to be specific) and a member of "The Women's Team" alongside your best friends Yuri Sakazaki & King. Right now though, you're nervous as all hell. Part of it has been sitting on the sidelines and watching your friends fight for you on this neon-lit night in the Shinjuku district of Tokyo, Japan; Another part of it was having to try and calm down Yuri before she disqualified all three of you for chewing out the referee over getting pulled out of her fight before she had felt ready to concede... But the biggest reason for your nerves feeling as though they're on a knife's edge is probably from watching King struggle to put down "Mr. Karate" (AKA Takuma Sakazaki, Yuri's father), the last standing member of "The Oyaji Team" and the only thing standing in your team's way of a spot in the Semi-Finals and a flight back home to Southtown, USA...

From how Mr. Karate had managed to deflect, shrug off and outright "Tank" King's blows, it seemed as though he was merely toying with her for most of the fight, though Yuri had commented that it seemed that her dad was putting in an extra effort to try and keep from showing how much damage King's strikes were doing to him. You didn't see what she was talking about at first and just figured that he was serious about showing off his true inner strength, but with less than 10 seconds before the match was to end King had miraculously jumped over Mr. Karate's "Haohshokoken" Desperation Move and delivered one of her own, the "DM Surprise Rose".
>>
>>36202274

Though this was enough series of strikes to knock him down onto one knee, how he had jumped back up to his feet after taking a "Standing 9 Count" sent shivers up and down your spine. Not because that it was particularly impressive considering the stories you've heard about him, but because of a small voice of doubt in the back of your mind saying "You know, if she loses then you'll have to fight that monster next..."

"Looks like they're talking about something" Yuri says as an unusually cold wind whips through an otherwise pleasant summer night.

"Y'think I should try and tell her t'pack it in?" you ask her as whatever conversation King & Mr. Karate seem to be having looks pretty one-sided to you.

"... Eh, it's up to you Katie; I don't think dad has enough left in himself to KO King in 9 seconds" she replies.

"Has he done it before?" You ask her as the Referee seems to be getting impatient about King & Mr. Karate's little chat (Though is smart enough not to actually get between the two of them).

"Oh yeah, tons of times" she tells you. "But I can't remember when he really fought anybody like this."

You meditate on that thought as the clock seems to agonizingly tick on, the referee giving Mr. Karate & King a chance to air anything out before the last little bit of the fight resumes... Or maybe he's stalling for add breaks on the TV side of things?

>A. Stick to Katja, shake off that nagging doubt in your mind and watch the rest of the fight unfold, hoping against hope that King manages to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

>B. Continue as Katja and try to get King out of there; She's clearly past her best and you don't want her to get hurt... (Roll 1d100 for Diplomacy)

>C. Assume the role of King and get ready to resume the last part of your fight with Mr. Karate.

>D. Get a look at the fight from the commentator's box and get all of the play-by-play action from FightCenter's live coverage on KOF TV!

>You now assume Direct Control of King

"And I told him that he should put up his hands and fight instead of wasting time talking" you confidently say as you hop back and away from him and assume your Muat Thai-honed stance.

Mr. Karate laughs at that, that Tengu Mask of his almost looking like it was his real face as he steps away from the referee and casually resumes his odd-looking variant of Kyokugenryuu Karate's "Starting" Stance. the referee shrugs, does a hand signal and backs away from the two of you as that corny announcer voice (Most definitely a synthetic sound clip snyth or something) blares over the loudspeakers erected all around you.

Probably because people didn't expect you to run on a Sunday. I'm here now.

>>36203583

You can see that Mr. Karate's a bit pissed off at you for sticking to your guns as the fight resumes, throwing up that almost wall-like invisible projectile at you before dashing towards you faster than you had thought he could go after kicking at the air like your were going to launch a "Venom Strike" projectile. Fortunately, you can feel your body start to pick itself back up and hit him him square in the face, knocking him back and giving you enough of a chance to throw him around with your "Euro Uppercut" and hopping back and away from him. He gets up off the floor just fine and you "Power-Up" in response, the unceasing clock ticking away to the final moments of the fight and your plan of action coming to he fore:

You're going to win this fight through sheer, awesome attacking; To hell with waiting it out and hoping that the judges are going to gift you the win.

You use you "Tornado Kick" to close the distance as Mr. Karate tries to hit you with a feeble-looking (Well, for him anyway) "Kohou" uppercut, your outstretched foot intercepting his body cleanly and stunning him a little bit. You hop away from him and throw out a "Venom Strike" for real and again seem to catch him making an uncharacteristic mistake, as his hands were up in some kind of counter-hold that fails to grab anything and knocks him back down to the ground. He struggles to get up as the clock ticks to "0" and that Announcer Voice yells "TYME OVAH!" and there seems to be a bit of back-and-forth talk between the judges as Mr. Karate sits up on the floor of this "Stage" (A closed-off bridge with padded mats thrown down onto it and grandstands erected on either side) as it looks like this fight's going to go to a judge's decision. The crowd and the fighters on both sidelines go silent as the official result of this round seems to be taking longer to confirm than expected, that oddly cool wind hanging in the night air...
>>
>>36204361

The Sunday run is due to my dear mother having to be taken to the local hospital for X-Rays on a possibly broken foot.

>>36204378

... And it only gets more ominous as the referee steps back in and tries to hoist Mr. Karate to his feet for the final verdict, but refuses.

"Look, if you don't get up, you'll be officially knocked out and whatever the judges decide won't matter" he says to him in Japanese.

You hear a few grumbles that could've come from a bear as he gingerly gets up to his feet, looking more like an old man in a silly mask rather than a "Monster of Martial Arts" the press billed him as while a different announcer takes control of the microphone.

"With a Split decision of 120-118, the Winner of this match is..." he starts to say in an odd Japanese Accent (Most likely from Kyoto, Japan), then pauses to double-check his scorecard as you close your eyes and take a breath, silently hoping that your right arm gets raised...

"... KING! The Women's Team Advances!"" he concludes and you open your eyes to see Yuri and Katja lead a mob of spectators out to greet you, your right arm pumping through the night air as the warmth from before the sun went down returned.

You can hear and feel Yuri jumping around like she were practicing her "Short Hops" while Katja just gives you a hug as a sea of people surround the three of you, the referee (Who's whistling and trying break up all of this) and Mr. Karate, who's trying to sulk off into the neon-lit night... You nod at Katja as she looks over your shoulder and asks "Y'mind if I take care'o'somethin'?" after giving you congrats as the KOF TV camera crews and reporters are trying to muscle their way through the crowd.

"Chip Clydesdale for KOF TV here and it's just PANDEMONIUM right now guys!" you hear him yell as you just... Bask in this moment. Soak it in, feel your body out, smile at how corny that reporter's name is and realize that yes, you and Yuri just aren't dead weight on your team and that yes, it feels like this tournament might end up being yours for the taking.

"What's the matter King?" Yuri asks as the cameras and reporters finally get to the two of you as you see Katja tower over most of the crowd looking to have a talk with Takuma-Er, "Mr. Karate".

"Nothing, just tired" you tell her as that guy from KoF TV shows up and motions to the cameras, doing a hand-sign before launching into his spiel:

>"This is Chip Clydesdale for KOF TV with King & Yuri Sakazaki of the Women's team and let me start off by saying that was an amzing final match."

"Yeah, it really was" you dutifully say, then elaborate a little. "I was on pins and needles until the last 10 seconds, then it all just...Clicked, I guess."

"Chip" looks at you and then asks:

>"This is for both of you, but has this victory really sunk in yet? What with being the first person to officially defeat Mr. Karate in a King of Fighter's sanctioned tournament and The Women's Team advancing to the Semi-Finals since... Well, quite a long time really."
>>
>>36206257
"It hasn't really hit me yet that we just beat one of the most terrifying teams in the tournament and are moving on to the semis. I'm still shaking a little. But I think we've found something that works this year."
>>
Also, apologies for any delays; I went through about 1,000 edits for this double-post.

>>36206257

You pause for a second or two as Yuri smiles for the camera, then give her a look that says "Well, I've always felt that victories are like a fine wine; They get better with age... But this one feels quite sweet, I must say."

"Yeah, it's just crazy you know? I mean, I can't think of a year that we went into a tournament like this" Yuri says, pausing for a second trying to find the right words before adding "I just hope we can head back home and kick some but!" with a cute smile and that "Peace-Sign" pose she does.

Chip nods at that, but you further add ""It just hasn't really hit us yet that we just beat one of the most terrifying teams in the tournament and are moving on to the semis... I'm still shaking a little. But I think we've found something that works this year" before his next question.

>"Well, where exactly is your third teammate, Katja Hartkern in all of this? Did she agree to go last and have the possibility of not fighting tonight?"

"She, uh" Yuri starts to say, though you cut her off by saying "She offered to be our team's anchor and I think she just wanted to try and have a talk with Mr. Karate before he left."

>"Is that right?"

You nod, Yuri adding "I really think that she should have her space about it though" before giving Chip a look that's half-knowing, half-terrifying, which more-or-less launches him into his last few questions:

"I... See... Well OK, how would either of you feel about going up against Team Korea or K-Dash when the tournament heads back to Southtown? And are there any remaining teams that you'd keep your eye out for?"
>>
Including making it a Triple-Post.

For as badly-injured as he might be, the "Old Man" you had to answer to for nearly 5 years straight can still run pretty damn fast, as you follow him through side-streets until you arrive back at the Shinjuku Gyoen that you had trained in this morning, hopping over the gates that usually keep people out when it's closed to chase him down to a familiar-looking spot in the park.

"Can'I'just bloody TALK to you!?" you ask, your voice not sounding tired at all when "Mr. Karate" stops and takes a breath near a blooming Sakura Tree. "Come on, I just want t'say that we'll get a chance t'fight another day, awright?"

Mr. Karate pauses, then begins to speak in that gruff voice of his (Very much how a particular actor who played Batman in a series of movies would switch between his "Normal" voice and the deep, unearthly growl of his character)

"In my time, I have seen a hundred criminal empires rise and fall, a hundred fighters develop into talents that flash across the frying pan of life that I helped cook, all in the name of proving that my art is the strongest in the world..."

"How? How could I lose to a woman that my son, my son's best friend and even my own daughter have beaten handily?" he asks you, his voice breaking into one that you've heard as Takuma Sakazaki, founder of the Kyokugenryuu School of Karate.

It takes every fiber of your being to keep you from going "Full 'Straya" on him, up to and including calling him "A worthless old tugger who can't hack it with the big boys anymore, mate" while trying to break that damn mask of his... But you reign yourself in as he turns around to face you, asking "Well?"

"Well, for one you aren't giving King, Ryo, Yuri & Robert enough credit" you start to say, collecting your thoughts for a brief second before adding "And no one stays weak forever. I'm living, breathing proof of that."

Mr. Karate crosses his arms at that, snorting before saying "Of course, it's a great honor to annihilate a run-of-the-mill boxer, a dancing clown and an amateur Karateka" under his breath in a mocking tone of voice.

Your eyes narrow at him as you say "That's right. It IS a great honor to achieve, just like all of the other people in this tournament have too... Hell, how many people do you think scratched their'eads when three guys no one'eard of beat some of the nastiest buggers'n'Southtown? Or when my girlfriends beat up a dead gangster's old goon squad?"

You swear that you see the Tengu Mask Mr. Karate wears raise an eyebrow at you as you continue your pseudo-lecture. "And did anyone of them get ridiculed for being who they are? No, they didn't. Neither did your daughter's best friend, nor I..."

"So, you seek to achieve what your friend denied you?" he asks, sounding like he either missed the point entirely or didn't care. "Because I cannot oblige you tonight."

You pause at his words, looking down at your feet while clenching and un-clenching your fists with small, slight electricity crackling from your fingertips; Good GOD is he stubborn! You wonder what made you stand up to his "teachings" for all of these years... Which is when you look up at him with that dead-eyed glare and admit "to be honest, the thought didn't cross my mind."

"... Excuse me?" the old windbag says out of shock, his voice again breaking a little.
>>
>>36208805

"Look, tonight wasn't about our grudge match, OK? It was about making sure that there was proof beyond a shadow of'a doubt that The Women's Team - MY TEAM-, deserves to be here... 'Sides that, if your art and the dojos that spawned the students that carry on it's legacy were attacked and ridiculed the same way me and my friends were fer the last 3 weeks, wouldn't you do the same?" you conclude, crossing your arms to match his.

The question you lodged at him hangs in the air, rustling through the cherry blossoms as Mr. Karate's unflinching "Face" stares back you. After what felt like an eternity, he sighs and slowly takes the mask off, revealing the aging visage of Takuma Sakazaki underneath it.

"Well said" is all he has to say before slinking off into the night, leaving the mask and it's now dead-looking eyes behind him.

I kind of wanted to do the A & C combo, but at the same time I think Katja wouldn't fight Mr. Karate until she's good and ready.

You briefly consider picking up the mask and trying it on, or wearing it over the hat you had brought with you as some kind of trophy... And while that sounded appealing to you, you could hear footsteps and see flashlights from out in the distance and stealthily walk out of the park, Tengu Mask tucked away into your jacket. It's only when you start to walk around and head back to the hotel that you realize that you totally missed a chance to square up with Takuma and give a chance to redeem his legacy in combat or something...

Ultimately, that leads to a belief that he'll find you and fight you when he's good and ready as you get mobbed by reporters and camera crews when you get closer to where the fight was staged, hopping over a short police barricade to walk over the bridge that held your friend's epic fights.

>"Hey there guys, I'm back with an exclusive interview with Katja Hartkern for KOF TV & FightCenter!"

You crane your neck at his English-speaking voice to see a guy that could've looked like Peter Perfect the Perfect and a camera guy tracking your every move. "Seems like my stay away must've got'em stirrin" you think while hoping that the Tengu Mask isn't all that visible while you zip up your coat.

>"What do you think of your teammates tonight?"

"They did everythin' I wanted'n'more, mate: I couldn't have asked fer'better friends then'them" you reply while swiftly moving across the now-dismantled "Stage" over towards the hotel.

>"Were you nervous about ot wanting to fight tonight? And how do you think you could've stacked up to Mr. Karate?"

"Er, well I offered t'go last t'give my friends a fair crack at it after the last round, so I wasn't worried or anything" you partially fib, then admit "And frankly, I think I coulda beat Mr. Karate tonight if the decision went t'him instead'o'King and he chose t'continue, but I hold a lotta respect fer'im, so I ain't gonna bad-mouth him'er'anythin; Excuse me."
>>
>>36210014

You brush past the cameras and head towards the "Coffin Hotel" the three of you had been staying at, doing a slight jog to break away from the press and go into a curiously tranquil sanctuary, as it is a "Women-Only" domicile and the first American Reporter that tried to get in got his ass royally kicked...

You walk up to the head desk and ask if your friends might've stopped in and paid for an extra night, only to hear back that they were already checking out. Raising an eyebrow at that, you headed up to your bank of "Rooms" (After giving the head clerk the right information and proving that yes, you were staying here of course) to see Yuri and King smiling wider and generally acting brighter than they had since arriving in Japan.

"He~ey! Where've you been?" Yuri asks as you unzip your coat a little.

"I had a talk with your dad" you start to say, then solemnly pullout the Tengu Mask he had left behind and add "And he dropped this after he was done."

You felt like you could hear a pin drop from the silence that hit the room like one of King's kicks,

"Did he like, give it you? Because if he did, then..." King starts to say, Yuri finishing that sentence for her. "... He'd want you to become the next Mr. Karate..."

"Nah, no" you blush, partly from the thought that he was serious about making you "Ms. Karate" or something, then launch into explaining what had happened between the two of you and what you told him.

That lead to even more awkward silence and pauses as King & Yuri pack their bags, seemingly hell-bent on getting out of this (Admittedly) dreary place. "So, what's with the bags packin'? We get a flight out early'er'somethin'?"

"Nah, but he hotel that overbooked us? They want to make it up by giving us free rooms for the rest of our stay!" Yuri explains.

"Probably Gabe's doing" you think, then ponder if it's right to take the rooms or not; After all, he DOES have people that have grudges against you and it could lead into a trap...

If something 'unfortunate' happens to the team after the last few fights we've had... that looks really bad for Gabriel and his tournament. And if there is a trap, sometimes the only move is to spring it.

You thought about launching into a tangent about how much the current KOF Head-Honcho seemingly hates you and the Kyokugen Dojo by association, but think better of and shrug your shoulders and tell them "OK. Just gimme a minute t'pack my gear up and hide this thing", getting the mask back from Yuri.

"What are you you going to do with it Katie?"

"I'dunno, I thought about keepin' it with me 'till the tournament ends" you start to tell her, then pause when you realize how much this mask might mean to her and her family (And why wearing it around might be in bad taste). "Never thought'o' actually wearin' the thing unless we fight your brother'er'somethin'..."

What, do the whole "Put it on in secret, laugh and then throw it at him" thing? Because it's been done too many times for him to really care" Yuri explains, thinking back to when her father did to Ryo one year...

"Nah, I'dunno sunshine, I kinda" you want to say, but again a nagging little voice inside of you says "Don't blow it now! You've got them on their good sides!".

"Kind of what?" she asks as you hurriedly pack it up in an old, dirty sweater that hadn't been washed.

"... Kinda sorta' wanted to wear it near my belt?" you lie, hoping that it sounds a lot less troubling than wearing it across your father's hat.

Yuri looks at you for a moment, but doesn't say anything as King breaks the awkward silence by asking "OK, since we are now assured of getting paid at least $75,000 a piece, I'm voting for spending the night out at a fabulous restaurant... Any takers?"

"Eh, prolly just partyin' at the hotel tonight mate" you reply. "Save the BIG party fer'when we get back t'Southtown, I think."

"Yeah, I kind of just want to get some rest and hit the town tomorrow after all of our PR stuff too" Yuri says with a cute yawn, her fresh bandages looking almost adorable on her as you feel an almost primal urge to just say "Fuck it" and start making out with either of them rise up within you...

... Yet before you can question where in gods name did THAT come from, you snap to your senses and tell King "Yeah, I'm 'Uri'ere. I just wanna get some food, maybe order a movie and hit the hay tonight."

King seems a bit peeved at you and Yuri being a bit "Shut-in"-like tonight, but sighs and says "Well, alright... I just think that we shouldn't laugh at our success by not celebrating it properly."

"What makes you think we haven't?" Yuri asks as you finish packing up, putting the tracksuit that Shermie had made and shipped all of the way over here and ponder why your libido's spiked... When you feel a faintly familiar presence nearby and scowl a little.

"C'mon, let's get goin" you hear yourself absentmindedly say as you lead your friends through the hotel and out onto the street corner, where an unusually small boy leans up against a streetlamp, fidgeting with a cellphone as a taxi pulls up.

"To the "Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku" please, and step on it!" Yuri cheerfully says in Japanese to the immaculately-dressed cabby as you stare back out at that boy, convinced that you've seen him before... But, that thought disapates into the ether of your mind as the three of you speed off into the night, arriving back at the hotel that had refused your reservations to fake smiles and gravitas over have "Such important guests stay" at this place. You swallow your pride and the need to get physical with all of them for having to spend almost a week sleeping in a padded corpse's locker and bounce up and down on your bed for a good half-hour and admire the bright lights of this immense city of Shibuya (Well, technically the hotel sits between both cities's marked limits, but who are you to judge?) as the smell of wonderful-looking food arrives at your room.

"I kind of splurged and ordered it in advance" Yuri sheepishly admits as three carts get wheeled into the spacious-for-japan room, not minding that Yuri & King haven't left yet as hunger takes over your mind.

The smell of the sushi plates and steaks for you and King nearly make you forget about what you had felt earlier and the overall sketchiness of this situation and for once, you just.... Relax. OK, not really for once, because San Francisco was pretty much 5 days of bliss aside from a few things here and there, but still the urge to just sit down on the couch, pop open your lap-top and try to hook it up to a TV and binge on Netflix with friends for a night is just too good to ignore.

You hop on the couch and flip out your bag, grabbing your trusty lap-top and firing it up before getting up to grab a few bites of the fucking boat-sized sushi platter Yuri had treated all three of you before wondering what to watch... Before seeing an add for a cheesy-as-shit action flick about fighter pilots in space that featured a woman that looked JUST like you. Somehow, some way, you settle on that before sitting down for a few bites of steak.

"So, what's on for tonight?" Yuri asks as she grabs some plates to join you at the drop-down table in the middle of the room

You don't say much as the film starts up, Yuri & King both groaning when they see the title screen and opening credits "Deadly Skies? Really Katie?

"Yeah, I'm not in the mood for action flicks tonight either" King says as some cheap effects of futuristic-looking planes blowing up

"Keep watching" you tell them as the film's camera closes up on the women's shower of this futuristic, inter-gender flight squad (IE a cheap excuse for bare naked ladies). Both Yuri & King's eyes widen when they start watching the scene and give you a dirty look, but you feel vindicated when the camera zooms in and pans upward on well, "You" in the shower, the physical resemblance uncanny.

"When the hell did you do this movie?" Yuri asks as the camera pans up to "Your" face.

"I didn't" you solemnly reply, both of them at a loss for words when you shut it off.

>You assume Direct Control of Jean-Claude Gabriel

>Date: Tuesday, June 8th

You sit in a small theater out near Wellington Memorial Stadium with the three fighters that were hand-picked to represent your interests in the tournament you've put your heart and soul into and wonder what exactly possessed you to do this, because only the devilishly attractive lady they brought along being the only person coherent...

"So then... What did you all think?" you ask to break the stale air in the only simulcast-ready theater in Southtown.

"I think I'm dead Jean" Andrew Draco replies, shades on in the dark of this theater to hide his bleary, jet-lagged eyes.

"You always say that early in the morning" Kazunori Kazahaya chips in, his shades on as well to hide how late he had been up the night before partying with "Friends" (Most likely either arms suppliers, drug suppliers, gamblers or information peddlers).

"Nah, I think I'm really dead dude... I can't even feel my eyes open or not" Draco groggily answers.

"Honestly, I think you got us up WAAAY to early for this boss" Kazahaya tells you, conveniently ignoring that it's past noon. "Besides, we've got PR work after this right?"

"I don't think so..." Draco says, waking up a little. "God, Detroit was a nightmare."

"First race was a wash when the gearbox came unstuck from the engine, sure, but you fucking won the second one after that team fucked up their fuel mileage ran both of it's cars out of gas on the last lap" Kazahaya offers as you sigh and roll your eyes.

"Well yeah, but YOU didn't have to drive on that track; Surface felt like I was in a damn cement mixer..." Draco replies, then turns to you and asks "Jean, don't get me wrong, this was fun and all, but if you wanted to just have sit down and study this team then why go to all of the trouble of hooking this up for us?"
>>
Forgot to add "We have no concrete facts, in and or out of character." to that last spoiler'd sentence.

>>36216110

"Well, truthfully I thought it would be fun" you say before chewing on a couple of red vines you bought from the lobby. "And I'm meeting the new Mayor to discuss this whole "KOF Says in Southtown" policy I was alerted to."

"You serious? KoF hasn't been local since the days of Geese Howard, and even then the last time that somebody tried to host a tournament in the city was over in Second South when the Meira Brothers tried to take down those goddamn aliens" Kazahaya agrees with you, then reminds you of what had happened to what was once known as "The ADESS Syndicate".

"Plus, you were going to bring back the Real Bout Tournaments and base them in the city, right?" Draco asks.

"Yes, that was the plan, but you never know" you tell him, adding "From what I've heard, the local government is pushing this thing hard and won the election over it" before getting a snarky question from Kazahaya.

"Hey, where's your girl chief? Not much of a fight fan?"

"I... Let her have her space" you tell him, wondering why in god's name did you have to give in on that one, drunken night with each syllable. You hear a chortle from Kazahaya get stifled by Draco kicking his shin and sigh yet again, knowing that you couldn't fire either of these guys if you tried; They know FAR too much about what you own and where your money comes from and, frankly, they've saved your life on too many occasions since arriving in Southtown 7 Years ago... Which is when you turn to their silver-haired teammate and ask "OK, well, what did you think of them?"

She finishes munching on her popcorn before answering "Not bad. The kickboxer's alright at spacing people out and forcing them to close in, but the other girl really impressed me taking on the guy with the eyepatch; I know firsthand that he's a mean fucker..."
>>
>>36216549

"What about their third-stringer? The one who didn't fight?" you ask, knowing that she might have a connection to her and wanting to see just how much she knows...

"... Well, she's a lot different than I remember her, but it's been a long time since I've seen her, so...?" Angel tells you, pausing before admitting "I'll have to meet her face-to-face to be sure" with a slightly sour tone of voice.

That only confirms that the woman that the press corps following the tournament have clamoring for is, in fact, one of the pieces missing in the puzzle to restart the NESTS Cartel and attract exactly the kind of people that you want to steer this tournament away from, up to and including that damn-near lesbian couple who created and cared for the Ice-Wielding young girl that's on the team that'll fight in Seoul, Korea tomorrow... Which is when Kazunori's phone rings, an odd synth song (Probably one of his own) playing.

"Yo, what up? ... Oh, OK" you hear him say as Draco gets up and starts to stretch with Angel, Kazahaya handing the phone to you as he says "It's your secretary boss."

"Give it here then" you tell him, then ask Vice on the other line "What is it?"

"There's a biker babe here that claims she's the mayor of Southtown looking for you" she tells you.

You pause at that as "The Wildcard Team" quietly shuffle out of the theater, a small voice in your mind saying 'Wait a minute, did Vice just say "Biker BABE?' " Whatever, that's not the issue right now; What is that "I thought that was scheduled for 1:30? At the theater?"

You hear Vice sigh and admit "I guess somebody didn't file it right, because it says 1:30 at Brown's Corner Theater on the piece of paper in front of me..."

You take a few breaths and mock smoking a cigarette, then scratch the patch on your arm and wonder why the hell you gave up smoking in the first place, because you'd honestly kill somebody right now for one o help you deal with all of the stress...

You had gotten a hot tip from a friend of a friend of your grandfather that a young boy that matched the description of the person that had escaped custody of Seth's agency (Bizuki IIjima, the engima of "The Paragon Group") had been spotted near a shrine in Osaka, Japan and, despite all kinds if advance warnings about not pursuing the lead due to what the data on this person suggested, you decided to follow it of your own free will (Much to the dismay of your teammates) and made plans to leave for Japan the day after your fight in the tournament. However, the situation changed as new intel came in on the day of your fight and the three of you were given orders from Seth himself to deliberately try to draw your fight against "The Psycho Soldier Team" to buy enough time to follow this very same lead; It turns out that there was far more to this chick than met the eye even previously, and her sighting in Japan wasn't a fluke.

What WAS a fluke was that you, Vanessa, Ramon and a few other go-to guys that you were going to meet up with had tracked Bizuki Iijima to the Shinjuku district of Tokyo on the very day that the scheduled fight between Commander Heidern and his "Oyaji Team" were competing against Katja, Yuri & King in the "KOF:IM" tournament (That gets weirder and weirder the more you and your teammates dig into exactly WHY this whole thing exists)... Which is where you are now:

You've casually tracked this gakuran-and-slacks wearing "Boy" for a few blocks while walking around with a little bit of crowd that was exiting from the tournament site (And you gave a rousing cheer when you watched King hold out and KO "Mr. Karate" on a big-screen nearby). Unlike most missions, you haven't tried to disguise yourself all that much and tonight it seems to be working your favor, as the crowd for that fight were mostly tourists...
>>
>>36217452

Still, it's hard not to duck and try and cover yourself whenever she looks in your general direction, though again from what you've seen, felt and read about this chick she probably already knows you're there. "Queztocatl, what's you're 02?" you whisper into the collar of your jacket.

"Dropped off your girlfriends at some hotel and made some pocket change picking up local fares around town, but no sign of the target yet" he answers, again getting the "Short-Straw" and working as the very same cab driver that drove Yuri Sakazaki, King & Katja Hartkern off to their new hotel about an half an hour ago.

You sigh at that, telling him "Just keep within 1 Km this time alright?" before motioning to talk to Vanessa and shifting to the other side of your coat, asking her "What about you Brunhilde?"

"I think there's something pretty damn interesting here, but how much it has to do with our target is up to you" she replies, posing as a construction worker on a site that seems to be forever in development... And may (Or may not) have a small underground city built underneath it.

"Great, so much for those two leads" you think before confidently stating how you want the rest of this opp to go: "OK, I'm tailing the target for one more block, then I'll meet up with our hired hands and go in; Keep these radios silent until I contact you from here on out."

You get two different "OK" messages from either side of your ears as that "Big Boss" title you drew out of a hat makes you feel kind of confident after the last mission you had gave you and your squad the names of obscure candy bars (Yours was "Charleston Chew", which became "Chewie" after a while)... When you stop at a 4-way intersection, traffic slowed to a crawl and ready to intercept your "Hired Hands" any minute now.

>Roll 1d100 and post a description of the kind of "Secret Agent" Blue Mary might meet; Best two rolls win with others getting honorable mentions as the QM sees fit.

>Pause/End(?) Updates

Sorry to end on a wall-of-text like this Anons, but all of this took FAR too long to edit from my notes and I want to get a good start on tomorrow. As such, if this thread's still alive when I wake up, updates will resume @ 9 AM PST/Noon EST. If not, check my Twitter feed and /qtg/ for scheduling announcements concerning this Quest.

As always, a BIG thanks to those that participated today and until next time...?

Some say he destroyed an army of NESTS-built killer death robots with merely a Ki-Infused sash at his disposal. Others say that he's a passionate environmentalist that fought his way out of a high-powered crime syndicate to devote his time to protecting nature. All we know is that he is "The Agent with No Name".

Yeah, it's complicated.) She has access to an orbiting, pin-point Laser Cannon built and later maintained by the mysterious "NEO-GEO" concern and has a dislike of Ninja after a few run-in's with Mai Shiranui and this mysterious "Karasu" person...

Borm to Vietnamese immigrants, she gained her ridiculous-looking hair and the ability to use it as an effective weapon after signing up to product-test an experimental hair gel/hair growth drug that was pulled from going to market after her powers manifested. Aside from using her prehensile comb-over to smack, grab and sometimes punch people, she had learned some Tae Kwan Do from Jhun Hoon and "May Lee" Jinju at a summer camp.

Being an Agent isn't all cloak-and-dagger stuff; Sometimes, you just have to pick up that rocket launcher and fire away... Well, OK, maybe not. I was quite tired when I posted that and there's a curious lack of Leona in this thread, so...?

Sorry for the delayed reply Anons, but I have had quite possibly one of the worst mornings in my entire life:

>One of my dogs gets mauled by a bear at 4 AM, have to call up the Vet and schedule an appointment ASAP
>Roommates bail on me, citing the bear as an excuse
>Internet Company claims that my last cheque bounced and are threatening to shut off my router in approximately 10 Minutes (Probably why my roommies bailed, as they were responsible for covering 2/3rds of that cheque)

That said, I can probably QM later today, but not until I can sort out what's up with my service provider and my dog... I truly am sorry for all of this getting in the way of continuing this today, but life happens you know?

Also, Voting and Discussion about whatever will be open until maybe 1:30-2 PM at the latest.

OK Anons, I have good news... and bad news. The good news is that all of my internet service issues for the moment have sorted themselves out (Paid off the missing balance with my PS4 Christmas slush fund); The bad news is that while my dog is still alive, she's in a lot of pain and needs all of the care she can get right now... As a result of that (And having to still care for my mother, who's one-week stay at my place is going to be a lot longer thanks to a compression-fractured foot), I'm afraid that I'm going to have to stick a fork in this thread and call it done.

That all said, I hope to run the next thread sometime later in the week (Probably Thursday, maybe Friday through Saturday) at around 9-10 AM PST / Noon-1 PM EST. Lastly, the suggestions from >>36218251 (Which got a 79 from >>36226442) & >>36220413 take the voting poll and those characters will be featured alongside the lovely Blue Mary.

Until next time...?

Damn, man. Your life sucks. Sorry about your troubles, man.

In happier news, I am so tempted to suggest Graham Chapman >>36224864 as the agent.
In fact, I shall.
Meet Baldrick Pratt, bumbling superspy extraordinaire. He thinks he works in aquisitions for Tesco - or at least, his bosses think that's what he thinks. Nobody's quite sure if he's a genius or an idiot, and truth be told, he's probably both. Ineffably polite, apparently oblivious, and utterly ruthless.

I'll add him in as name-check cameo, but yeah... I mean fuck, I love living out in the wilderness and enjoy the peace and quiet it can bring, but it's a struggle. I can't even begin to count how many pets I've lost over the years to "Natural Selection" and food-chain shit. Speaking for my dog, I've always found that the larger dogs I've cared for never seem to back down until they get hurt and unluckily, she got hurt choosing off a small black bear...

Like I said, she's doing better, but I got lucky; If the appointment ended up getting scheduled for two hours later and they might not have been able to save her... For my mother breaking her foot, that was just a complete freak accident; She got up too fast, put weight on a foot that was "Asleep" and fell over on it. Not much you can do really and she's already hobbling around on a medical boot.

Anyway, thread's up and archived on sup/tg/.
