Last time in the woods your people having failed miserably to create a university that somehow led to explosions and wastefulness. decided to go looking just what lies underneath the bunker they call home. Only to find a bunch of overgrown tunnels and a single operational rail line. After that they set up barricades and a few lights in case anything should come up.

Eventually something did come up along the rails a train stopped briefly at the nearby station who are from a megaprison after performing an exchange with us they left. Later on ANOTHER group came up who belonged to Red Army. They we were able to 'convince' that we were fellow comrades nailing us some assistance and a very fancy biofuel refinery due to some hard convincing.

After they left though our forces heard moans and the sound of conflict deeper in the tunnels...a zombie horde is crawling its way through these tunnels.

This is a confirmed right?

won't be able to participate in todays thread due to work, but I hope the others come up with a good plan.

Maybe we can just be really quiet and let them pass under us and out of our way.
>>
Rolled 61 (1d100)

>>36250489
There's a type of bird that will fake a broken wing, getting predators to stalk it as it leads them away from it's nest. Surely some of our personnel have pets capable of similar baiting behavior.

>Call for volunteers: find some badass tunnel runners who are willing to try to lead the zombie horde away from the settlement. If a team or individual is extra successful, they get a prestigious position training others in subterranean warfare.
>>
Rolled 34 (1d100)

>>36250897
That does sound like a plan.

I wonder if we can get some shutters to close off the train station from the zombies. We would need to dirty them up a bit, but I think it would make them think it's been unused.
>>
I'd like to ensure that the Red Army got their share of resources/supplies as was agreed upon.

We should offer them a resupply of food and water also, if they'd like it.

Also, should we have the Prez investigate our Animal Bonding ability to see exactly how Genie implemented it?

Further, should we dispatch our Secret Popo to investigate the tunnels for threats (including the incoming zombie horde)?

Finally, perhaps we should put some work into fortifying the tunnels. With our biofuel capabilities we should be able to set up effective flame-defenses that incinerate anything that tries to approach.
>>
>>36251152
Tbh I don't know what Genie was talking about with tunnels being hard to fortify. Just have to get a big circle of welded metal anchored into the walls with two sliding doors in the middle to let personnel or trains pass.
>>
>>36251444
Red army left with our request without so much as goodbye, so we'll save a gift for them when they come back.
>>
>>36251444
I like to pay them back as well, but let's make it thru this first. Also agree with the prez and pops action. Fortify with what resources? We could use supplies, but they can only do so well.
>>
>>36251629
Yeah it is a bit simple to do. We're just lacking the resource and probably time. Then there's the chance the will spit acid to get thru it. Granted we would just need to find some kind of base to stop the acid.

Two words: Overwhelming force
The only way to beat them is with more overwhelming force

They'll as easily push through our corpses as they'll burst through the tunnels if we somehow block it.

We need a veritable army or wonder weapon to combat them.

Numbers, plague, sickness, death, and preferably overwhelming force.

There are a number of different zombie types but they all usually follow the above.

When zombies 'choose' a target they aim to hit with overwhelming force and crush them utterly.

They do this by using sickness, numbers, and whatever 'tricks' they got.

There was some fluff pieces i posted about them before and it remains largely correct still though there has been a few changes.

I say we place barrels of biofuel with remote detonators and enuf explosive to dive decent coverage, at a few points in the cave and near the big locking door. My plan is to set that up, lock the door and hope they pass by leavening up alone. If they try to take out to door we sett off the fire bombs to hopefuly clear them out.

Explosives are set and forces are withdrawn while the door is locked...then the zombies came. in a single gigantic tide overcoming everything in their way and forcing them in the side routes there were so many so they spread out whenever possible.

Like a tide they stumbled through. Heard a few screams and howls as they continue passing through. Apparently they managed to find something that hadn't quite managed to escape or find a good hiding place.

Firstly, because our response to zombie attacks was to flee and hope for the best. What happens if the zombies gain a foothold down there and never bugger off?

Secondly, flamers works great on lots of things. Who doesn't want flamers?
>>
Rolled 82 (1d100)

>>36254924
Research on bio-fuel flamers commencing...scientists indicate we would both need to develop a formula for biofuel that would facilitate a flame thrower as well as either designing or finding a pattern of flame thrower.

As we are government remnants of blackwood fire wasn't exactly a popular weapon for us but rather our enemies. Especially flamethrowers.

They believe a concentration of our current refinery fuel could suffice or perhaps some other tonic. Flame thrower itself will require more development.

While pursueing flamer research our researchers settle upon a fuel formula and a basic flamethrower spec.

Then someone had the idea to dig around in a certain crate while everyone was hard at work...

"Hey...HEY GUYS!"

"SHUT UP MURPHY we are ALMOST done."

"HEY HEY HEY GUYS I LIKE TOTALLY FOUND SOMETHING AWESOME!"

"OH FOR THE LOVE OF GAWD MURPHY STOP RUINING THE PARTY!"

*WHOOSH* LOOK WHAT I FOUND IN THAT FANCY CRATE FROM THOSE CRAZY COMMIES?"

And so the researchers looked ath the flamethrower Murphy found and their hard work...then back again.

"Aww..."

"ITS AWESOME YOU SHOULD SEE THE RANGE ON THESE SONS OF BITCHES! YOU CAN SNIPE WITH EM."

...I hate you SO goddamn much Murphy."

"WAIT TILL YOU SEE WHAT I ATTACH THEM TO!"

Later at a certain bay with some critters.

...Murphy what are you doing and why do they involve pets?"

"You ever thought about how like everyone deserves a hot meal and like how we got a bunch of critters?"

"Yeah...I guess."

"Well you see I figured why not INSURE a hot meal eh?"

"How Murphy...I don't see how-"

"WHY BY ATTACHING FLIPPING FLAME THROWERS TO THEIR FUCKING HEADS OF COURSE!"

"i...wut. You know Murphy I am the only one who doesn't hate you here right? Now here you are experimenting with the animals and attaching bringers of forest fires to their heads. How do you THINK people will feel and do to you?"

"Well...okay but you know hot meals? Whenever they want! They can even use them to ROAST the enemy how awesome is that!"

"I am not asking you about how awesome it is but rather how EVIL it is Murphy goddamn it. You have ANY idea how close you got to being sent away last time? Now how about this time?"

"But...but its awesome."

"I...I know its totally awesome."

"SEE I TOLD YOU!"

"Bah lets just remove them alright?"

"uh..."

"Oh gawd what did you do NOW!"

"Uhm...hate to point out the obvious."
>>

You didn't miss 1/3. That was the one you had completely correct.

>>36259934
I don't get it.

Can we have passive activities take place? For example, one we control bees we could have them pollinate only the types of plants we want them to in the near area. Could that be passive or would it need to be a turns move?
>>
>>36259994
Completely? Hot dam! How often dose some one guess that kind of stuff. (Shameless ego boosting)

We need shit for research!
>>
Looks like we have some good rolls for but traps/scavenge for bugs. Would it be safe to guess that research in to animals/insects that we already have a symbiotic bond with is easier? If that is the case we could be 1 step closer to (depending on how zombies work here) creating a type of fly that lays it's eggs in/on zombies. Then the maggots from said eggs would eat the dead flesh of the zombies. The grow and become flys, the cycle repeats intel potentially all zombies are gone
>>
>>36260152
But then the flies come for living target's unchecked by nature and soon their intelligence grows to human levels. Then one thing leads to another and , boom, flies become the dominant race.
>>
>>36260202
That's why you make then seek out enzymes or something only found in zombies. It's a long shot and it will be a LONG time before it's possible if it ever is.

>>36259870
Hay Genie, there are some grate rolls here... Just saying
>>
>>36260152
In time we might inform the red army of such, with out giving out info that would make them want to take us over. We would then ask them if they could redistribute some research equipment to is "for the betterment of all" and that kind of thing
>>
Rolled 42 (1d100)

>>36259870
Well good news was it was an astounding success.

Bad news is apparently some monsters also like sugar.

So we sorta had to fight some off and lost some samples to them same with bugs.

Still a decent enough haul.

>>36260260
huh well shit and i was wandering what was taking so long...even checked awhile earlier damn it.

If we spend a turn having our researchers just study all the samples, schematics, and anything else relevant they can get there hands on could we increase out research capacity? Like from being average to above average? Or what ever bench mark comes after average in this context.

>>
>>36268068
My worry it the effect it would have on the one who bonded with them. Would the power of the bee hive mind be too much and overtake the guy? As long as we can control the bees then we would be good

There is a few out comes in my head at the moment. 1: The bees are just super charged and follow normal behavior. 2: They are intelligent and could be reason with if we can get some communication going. 3: They just look like bees and are wasp filled with hate.

As for the overtaking on someone's will. That would depend if we are pushing our will on the animals/insects with psi powers or just forming a bond, like friendships.

>>36268253

With the hole bee thing, I keep getting the vision of a train, it's windows blacked out and door closed pulling up to an an bad guys underground station. The guards there look at it and each other in confusion. With a ding the trains doors open. And out flys an army of bees! Millions of them! Swarming out bringing honey dented death to all that stand in there way! The bee Keeper laughing like a mad man and jacking off with honey for lube as he and his hive overtake the location. I hope we can do something like that.

>>

Zombies changed? How
>>
>>36273648
Stuff like detailed factional info, inter-factional relations, the rough identifying groups, and other info.

>>36273683
Back then Genie was still figuring out the zombies as the info provided then was very rough and later changed some stuff as he finished up details.

Basically Genie was happy with the then current set up and made adjustments.
>>
>>36273729
Bah meant wasn't happy.

>>36273683
What I do know is there are 'undead' zombies, brood zombies, fungi, and some other types of 'infected' have been shown in game.

Things like rage viruses and other stuff apparently exists in setting as Genie once posted an entire list of examples one time.
Even gave out stuff regarding pre fall and lists of example civs. Like megacorps he posted several lists of them and stated they all exist in game.
>>
>>36273648
I know info is missing it's why I asked for help >>36268139. Most of the info I keep saved some where is limited. If you wish to add into it tell me and I will add it.

As for the zombies I gave what I have. Once Genie is back I will ask so I can update it.
>>
When is the next game day? Is it tomorrow or next Tuesday? What is the bonus that we get if we survive that long? How are new Herod found/made. Any other info about the system of how these threads work would be good to know
>>
>>36274354
Tomorrow, game days are Tuesday and Thursday. Kind of changes, but rarely a big bonus. The hero stuff is in the pastebin, but to find them is luck mixed with going in game and finding them like a normal person would. Ask what you want to know and someone will probably answer.
>>
>>36274354
Next game day is tomorrow, the bonus we receive is a "Minor/Moderate Boon" that we can make up. The only example that comes to mind is that we burned one to get access to a clean, underground spring in one of our other civs. It made our lives much easier in that civ.
>>
>>36274488
Could the boon be added to a roll? What kind of things do we need that are the equivalent of the spring?
>>
>>36274354
Tomorrow.

at least a mild bonus Genie does it to recycle threads that weren't very long.

Heroes are made by triggering the three major events.

1 make them a bad ass
2 make them elite
3 make them an officer tier

All three of these together will make a hero spawn.

Basically there are 3 tickers to make a hero spawn you have to somehow trigger.

Finding heroes can be easy if they are obvious(say who loves EXPLOSIONS) or very hard if their not(like a stealth hero for instance). An EXCELLENT way to find a hero is to simply look at 'special' units. Due to them being special they tend to have better luck hearing about or noticing things.

This means trying to identify the elites and bad ass units given.

Basically look at it this way.

Those elite/bad ass units?

Are well on their way to becoming a hero.

Their leaders or specials among them?

One short step away from hero status.

So obviously you want to hit them up and see what they know/noticed. Sadly though some of those units tend to be rather hard to find like the Faceless in the Bloodsnow civ but once we finally got them holy shit were they useful.

This was done with the Bloodsnows and led to some fine heroes. Think there might have been a couple others but they ain't coming to mind right away.
>>
The way I see it the ideal situation with the mega bees is this.
They have a simple/moderate psi hive mind. After we form symbiosis with them they form a cult like obedience to our president they view him as there god king, and the the people of the black woods there pantheon. This belief spreads to every mega hive in the forest. They can do everything we hoped and more. They become out main tool, with there help our civ grows and takes over everything. The black woods republic becomes the black empire.
>>
>>36276498
I don't see them forming an empire. Maybe a city stare
>>
>>36276498
I like the idea of psi communist cult bees
>>
Bump for the bees!
>>
Do you guys think Genie would allow the boon to be this.

>The Aptitude Test: one day when a bored researcher was looking through the deep and seldom used files of the bunkers systems, (probably trying to find some ones porn stash) he chanced on an old world aptitude test.

>When ever a turn is spent having the everyone take the test a hero can be found, depending on the rolls.
If there is a nat 100 rolled then at least 1 hero is discovered, if there are any to discover. If a seconded 100 is rolled than a second hero is found.

>If the average roll is 75 or hire than all unknown heroes that are unknown has a 10% chance of being found. This dose not apply to Heroes that have yet to be made by future events.

>If a nat 1 is rolled then the civ's moral goes down by one bench mark.

>If the average of the rolls is under 25 than there is a 25% chance the civ's moral will go down by 1 bench mark.

>If the average roll is 26 to 74 than it is QM chose what the outcome is.

What do you guys think? Will Genie be ok with something like this?

Also we need to bump this thread through the night to have the boon available in the first place
>>
Rolled 91 (1d100)

>>36279539
Ok, I like the idea of that, a lot. But I doubt that Genie will go for that. He might go for something like it but not for probably not for it as it is, and not for a thread boon. What I would like is for that test thing to be a passive thing like 10% easier to find heroes from that point on.
>>
Rolled 35 (1d100)

I'd just state the action - We're creating a test that identifies heroic characteristics - and see whether the 'creating test' action is successful.
