You're riding on the prairie, away from the castle you resided in until last night. The same castle your pursuers call home. You haven't met them yet, luckily, but no kingdom would let you go scot-free after what you did.

The prairie extends endlessly before your eyes, unchanging, a river the sole feature letting your eyes rest from the invariable. You're riding by the river, taking solace in the soft coolness it gives off.

The heat is still getting to you. The air is heavy, dragging your thoughts down with it, your armor an inferno, a cage of sweat you're trapped in. The river is calling to you, sweet siren voices raising, promising the comfort you're looking for. Not having a canteen doesn't help you mute them. Your thoughts get blurred, but the danger behind you keeps you in check.

You know you have time on them, but time is a precious commodity, more so when wasting time could lead to your demise. You rise your visor and wipe your brow. Even the weight of your armor is getting taxing to bear; you know you need to do something or the people behind you will have their job done for them, by yourself nonetheless.

'You have time' you tell yourself like a mantra 'you have time'. You're not sure of that. Preparations for the hunt, your hunt, could have taken time, but single knights could have departed on their own to bring back your head to the king on a platter; for fame and glory, huh? After all a prince slayer would net a good amount of fame and glory, if not good hard cash. You're really valuable right now. Or at least your head is.

You have time. You have time. You DO have time. You know it. You feel it. And you can't go on like this. Blacking out on your horse with your armour still on and visible traces leading back to you would spell death.

>Wash your face in the river, drink from it, refresh yourself.
>Jump in the river, it'll cool you down faster and you will still be wet for some of the way.

You have to do something, and do it fast. You dismount, take your horse to the river and let it refresh and rest. You both need to. You kneel by the river and put your gauntlets in the water, looking at the transparent blue change its colours, tinting red. An awry smile on your face: shouldn't this blood be the bluest of blue?

You unlatch your gauntlets, remove them and set them on your side. You take your helm off and breathe in fresh air. Everything is calm here; no screams, no sounds of iron on flesh. Everything is as it should, your presence just an afterthought for the water. You wash yourself and shiver as the cold water traces lines on your parched skin. You partake of the water, a sacred ritual bringing you back to life, and enjoy every second of this communion with the river.

The coldness of the water brings you back to better time, when life was hard but not harsh. You could pull through everything just by committing to it, be it study or exercise. That didn't help you at all, as it seems.

After some more ablutions, feeling better, you look at the gear on your side. Splatter of blood cover the helm, the blood of the valiant who fought for their king. Your armor is not in a better state. You tear a piece of cloth from the horse's pack and you start wiping the metal; can't go around with blood on you if you're not trying to flaunt being on the wrong side of the law.

Wiping the blood away feels to you vaguely symbolic. A knight in shining armor you are no more. Your first blood took that from you, as maybe it does with every knight; but yours was not like that of other knights.

Thinking about it you feel

You feel strange about it. Shouldn't murder be something abhorrent, more so when the reason behind it was revealed to be nothing more than a misunderstanding?

Shouldn't the fact that you killed a prince in cold blood for your skewed knightly vision of things dawn to you as an error that can be repented only by forfeiting your life?

It doesn't, that's all you know. Your sword entered his body so easy, almost in a poetic way. How life can be but a feeble moment. He was just indulging in one of his perversion with a consenting partner, but what you saw was torture. Torture on a woman. The man had to be smote, your code said. The woman wasn't so thrilled by your resolution, and her screams was what gave you the impression you could have made an error.

A not so little blunder, you realized, when the face of the only son of the ruler came into your vision. A blunder that costs life. You decided that being a knight wasn't worth death; after all, under six feet of soil you can't be a knight, as the job description doesn't mention fertilizer.

The guards that fell under your sword were as easy as the prince. You had practised for it, but everything came to you as a child's play. Maybe not the kind you should teach to children, but still as simple. You made your way to the stables, took the first horse you could and sprinted into the night.

Easy as pie. The fact that you chose a rouncey and that your traces were clearly visible from miles away was a problem, but all in all an assassin of future kings shouldn't have it that easy, should he?

As you think back to it, it still leaves you unfazed. Maybe there's something wrong with you. You thought it was the spur of the moment, the adrenaline, but after the dust has settled, you're still the same. Nothing comes to haunt you. That could be good.
>>
You mount back on your horse as you think as what could be your next step.
You could go back to your family; they could trace you easily, what with the insignas and decoration everywhere on you armor, but you could have some support.
Maybe you could find employment elsewhere; surely somebody on the other side of the fence has a spot open for somebody like you.
Or you could rethink of your path in life; a knight shouldn't be like you, as you were taught, and your abilities could be used in more than one profession.

You resume your travel, still coasting the river as the greenery that surrounds you starts to get to your nerves. Green nothingness as far as the eye can see. Now that the excitement is gone, this dull panorama irks you, pricks your mind in a strange way. How can this place be so peaceful, doesn't it knows what happened? And where are you going to hide when there's nothing for miles on end?

The only good point of this place is the calm. It has always helped you think, and that's what you need right now. What are you going to do now that you've burned down everything you had before? You entertain the thought of becoming a magical assassin, but just for a moment. You haven't had enough training with magic, you would need serious study, and now that your resources are gone it's not going to be easy to do that. And what is a magical assassin, anyway?

Bah. You should think of more viable sources of employment, people who don't care about what kind of killer you are. Mercenaries. Mercenaries love a good killer, even if he's a prince killer. They don't care, all they care about is being paid and live to see another wench. And I can surely be a valuable asset in keeping them alive.

Could help with my situation in other ways too. Wouldn't my family be proud of a son heading a band of mercenaries feared on the whole continent after having sullied the sacred name of the Myrson by killing their liege? Probably not.

Mercenary it is, then. Well, that's what comes after. What comes now is staying alive and disappearing. How would one do that? There should be a couple of villages on the way. The borders of the kingdom are just a day away, but no kingdom would leave it's borders unguarded, at least not when something like this goes down. I could find a place to hide for some time, but with my tracks so clear following me is not difficult. Maybe I could find somewhere to ambush my search party?

You're waken up from your meditations by a change in the colour of the water, getting less transparent and taking on a darker shade of blue. The river is getting deeper. Good for you. You look again at the horizon, and some of the green turned to tints of light brown as you weren't looking.

Oh, the miracle of life. Your life. You could be very well saved by this change in palette. A forest thick enough to hide into materializes in front of your eyes, getting larger with every step of your horse. You feel like you just saw the goal of your pilgrimage. Harion, the golden city, just in front of your eyes.

You hasten the pace, punishing your already taxed horse. Doesn't matter. In a couple of hours you will have enough horses for a procession. You just need to take them away from their rightful owners, and you feel they won't mind, what with being dead and all.

You reach the gateway to your asylum, taking in the blessing the musky smells bring. You dismount and guide your horse well into your saviour's embrace before opening the pack he hauled. A sleeping mat, some blankets, 50 feets of rope, flint, a hunting knife. What kind of scatterbrain packs like this? And no canteen? Really?

You can curse the man later. Right now you have to prepare for the ambush. You really regret not having a bow; you arrows always flew true, but what knight keeps a bow on him when stationed in a castle? A knight who could have it better right now, that's who.

You have at least a couple of hours before the first friends of justice arrive, and you'll make sure to be prepared for the event. Welcoming guest warmly was always one your family proud traditions. Good care has to be taken for their welcome, then.

>Throw 1d100, best of 3.

Being ready for them will help you a great deal. You start by tying some rope to the trunk of a tree, passing it around the trunk of another, making a loop around a third and then hanging it from a sturdy branch. You could be overpowered by the horses, even with this impromptu pulley system. You find a suitable rock and tie the end of the rope to it, balancing the rock on a structure made of twigs.

Could still be insufficient. You take some more rope and bind it tightly some distance away from the other, still on your tracks. You cover it as you can, but it's still visible enough. Not good.

You start on digging some holes, but without dedicated equipment you find the results lacking. You're not going to use your sword to dig, and the knife is not that useful in this endeavour. You dug two holes, barely deep enough to maybe trip a horse. Not good. You lost time.

As a last resort, you tie a blanket to some branches, setting it to fall when the branches are moved. What good could that do?

You start hearing the sound of horses in the distance. Good. They'll come running and trip. Running. Running? In a forest? Oh god! You put the blanket and the mats on the horse in an upright position as you hear them approaching. They're near.

You stab the horse, it rears and goes galloping into the darkness of the forest; the allies of justice take notice and start the chase. Can't believe they really fell for that. You expected the best of the best. They're not them.

As they approach the first triprope, you hit the twig prop supporting the rock and throw your whole bodyweight on it. You feel the vibration of the rope. Horses neigh in pain as their bones break under their weight. You look up and you see a tangle of metal and meat sprawled on the ground. 4 knights.

A fifth one, some distance away from the group, jumps the rope. The horse hits the second rope without falling.
>>
You see your life pass before you as the horse overtakes the hurdle. A knight on a horse. No shield on you. Is this the end?

The gods smile on you. The horse trips on one of the holes you covered. You're saved. The knight jumps off before hitting the ground, but he doesn't scare you anymore. Without the horse it's a duel, and you were always good with duels.

You look at the mess of bodies and at the knight. They probably haven't seen you yet.

Dueling the one on his feet is the knightly thing to do, right? What does it matter to you anymore, you don't know, but leaving your flank to the only one able to move doesn't seem like the smart move here.

You unsheate your sword and give away your presence, walking towards him. As he sees you, a ringing, panicked voice comes from his helm. "Wretched being, you are ac-" You swing your sword towards him. Is he really going to do a speech right now? The best of the best? Really?

He parries your strike and takes a step back, preparing to lunge towards you. A lunge. You can see it from his posture, as clear as day, as obvious as the time your mentor showed it to you for the first time. I'm in plate here; and he lunges. Really? Where did they take this guys from?

You guide his sword with yours, leading it over to your right side. His balance is all over the place. You rotate your body out of his path and hit him on the back with your left fist. He goes to the ground face first, his helm leaving a gap for you to strike. You don't even give him time to acknowledge his demise. You strike, and he's gone.

Four left then. Two under their horses, and that won't be a problem. One still sprawled on the ground. The fourth is trying to get on his legs. Not an easy thing to do in full armor even in peak condition, surely less than that after the collision. You run to him and slit his throat with your knife. You see his eyes widen as his blood obstructs his airways. That gurgling noise is sickening. Well, who cares when it's not your throat it's coming from.

You reach to the other, his leg bent in a strange way, and turn him over. "A-A knight sho-" Gurgle. What is with this guys? Is this the normal thing to do? You take your sword to the neck of the other two, still pinned under the horses.

Was this all? Your peers left you disappointed. Should you expect a blade in your back? Were they just a decoy? Probably not. What now?
>>

You look around to see what you got for your effort. The man you just killed has a heater shield on his side, the full achievement of his family finely embossed. Raven on top, unicorns on the side, a white feather on a red background on the escutcheon. Forsend. Not one of the big seven, but still worthy of a name. Was this just the hand of lady luck? His last words make you doubt that.

You rummage through their packs while carefully avoiding the horses' legs. They're not dead yet. You go through the three that are accessible to you. You find some more rope, canteens, food rations for a couple of days, coins for a week of living expenses -nobles' living expenses-, some whetstones, oils and wax for their armors -who ARE this guys?- and a couple of knives.

You set them aside as you go see the dueler. "Hey there". You turn him around. The Forsend's blazon you had read, the coat of arms on his armor though you've seen enough of for a lifetime. The crowned tiger. Not only one of the seven, but number one of the list. Oh well, not like the blood of his kin wasn't already on your hands, right?

You take his sword and his scabbard. You can never have too many blades. Untill you can carry them around without a problem, that is. You near his horse, now standing. Lady luck. It stays calm as you approach. Shouldn't the smell of blood enrage him? Not a warhorse, maybe? Shouldn't he still have some kind of reaction? Well, birds of a feather; your horse, now. As you circle him you see a quiver hanging from his side. You should get a ring for that one lady, she's really special.

You take your pick of what to take. The rations, two canteens, some rope, the money, the knives and a whetstone. You pack them on your new horse, use your modicum of magic knowledge to heal the contusion on his legs and mount. He's quiet, eerily so. You like him. Should he have a name? When did you start identifying it with a "he"?

You decide that if this horse is to accompany you in your travels, he has to be named. A good bay it is, and a good name it shall have. Thruster comes to mind, and you know it's the one as soon as you say it. He murmurs his approval. Or maybe not, it's not like he can understand. He likes it, you like it, so that's that. And even if he doesn't like it, it's not like he has a say in the matter.

You continue onwards on the side of the river. Air is getting colder, but settlements are more frequent near the water. Or at least that's what they taught you, you can't be sure as your travels didn't take you far.

But why are you trying to get to a village? Every person on the kingdom probably knows of what you did by now, so the smart move is to shy away from populated places, isn't it? Not like you could trust people you don't know with you safety.

So, to the border it is. Still the same direction, but you'll keep your distance from every well-lighted place you spot on your way. It will take the rest of the night to get to that border, and you'll surely find the guards on high alert, but getting on the other side is going to make everything better. The tension between Mechina and Arathe means they're not going to let soldier march on their territory, not even if a prince was killed. Surely waging war on your account is unacceptable, even if flattering.
>>
The night is long, and fatigue takes it's toll on you. The sun wakes you up, as you suddenly jerk upright. You're fine; the horse is fine -Thruster, you remember yourself-; your stuff is fine; and your new friend didn't stray from the path. Today is your lucky day, it seems. Here is to hoping it lasts until you're on the other side. The other side of this majestic gate embedded in the canion.

Big enough to let an army pass through, sturdy enough to not let them. And a little army is in front of the gate. 10 on the ground, a couple dozens on the walls. You can't take them on, even if they're half as good as the allies of justice -when did you start calling them that?- and they're searching the carts carefully. You don't see horse riders approaching the gate but you can surely expect no less.

If we could take it off and hide it in a bag or something while we the disguise then that'd be also good, but I guess they might try to check our stuff.

>Gate in a canion
We can't pass through it, too risky. canion means its surrounded by mountains rather than walls. I say we stop at the nearest village and collect supplies for mountain trekking, and then go through the mountains rather than through the gate
>>
>>36264973
Ciollonz, what identifying marks are there on our armor right now?
I was thinking we should get fake heraldry, maybe match that of one of the knights we killed. as obscure and unknown as possible.
Basically, its time for some identity theft
>>
You need to be unnoticeable. Your armor and gear are a dead giveaway, what with the bloodstains and all. What can you do? They're going through everything with a fine toothed comb, and being a bloodstained knight doesn't help you at all. They'd undress even a monk right now.

A monk. That could work. You could make it work, you just need some things. A tunic, a sash with an embroidery of The Two in it, maybe some sort of fake beard? You approach the nearest merchant, the only one that is far enough from the gate to not let you be heard or seen clearly.

"Hey" you call out. "What?" answers the man. Not really friendly, but knowing you'll have to wait an eternity in front of a gate to let some guards ransack through the stuff you sell for a living can do that to you.

"Do you have a tunic?"
"What for?"
Seriously? "I want to buy it"
"Now?"
"Now. I'm going to pay you well."
"Okay, okay." He grumbles. He gets off from the carriage and opens the back. After a couple of minutes, he comes out with your tunic.
"Do you have a religious sash in there?"
"What is this all for?" Suspicious, isn't he?
"My brother has decided to take the vows, and if I can make it happen faster I'm willing to do everything in my power."
"Oh, loving brother, aren't you?"
"If he takes the vows his part of our father's fortune goes to me, so better make it happen while he's still convinced"
"Hahaha, that's more like it. But I don't have your sash. Will a rosary do?"
"Sure. And add some clothes. The kind villagers use, I heard he can't have any possessions of value."
"There you go. Is that all?"
"Think so. How much?"
"1 gold coin"
WHAT? You stop yourself from bashing his face in, and pay the price he asks for. Can't attract attention right now. Down to 11 gold coins. Better be worth it. Not like you're going to have the time for regrets if it doesn't work.

He thanks you as you muffle a curse. You backtrace your steps a bit, find a brush to give you some cover, and start padding your armor with the clothes. Can't have them hear the sound of metal, can we? You pad your scabbard, put the other sword to your right side and pad that too. They're going to rummage through my pack for sure. You throw away the knives, the risk is not worth it. Food, rope, canteen, that's ok. The whetstone goest. You're ok, you think.

You put the tunic on, wind up the rosary on your- you still have the gauntlets on. Expendable, they go; armguards too. You wind up your rosary on your right wrist, take the rein with your left hand and wait for the merchant to pass the gate. What seemed like an eternity later, you start to walk towards the gate.
>>
"Halt. Why are you seeking passage?"
"I'm a wandering monk, I seek passage to bless the Aratheans with knowledge of the True Faith."
"Why should a wandering monk have a bow with him?" God, you forgot the bow. You blew it. Think of something, quick!
"As The Two teach, one must live sustained by their blessings. If their blessings come in form of rabbits, how can I partake of them without a bow?" He signals to his men to search your belongings.
"Can monks hunt?"
"Assarites can."
"And the horse? Shouldn't you forfeit every wordly possessions?"
"Not all. The horse came to me on his own, he is a blessing"
"You have a nauseous smell on you." Don't notice it's blood.
"I wasn't blessed with all the commodities a common man takes for granted"
His men are done. "He's clean"
He inspect you closely. "You can go. Free me from your stench."
"Blessings be with you."

You walk through the door. The canion opens in front of you. They made you. You're sure. You better mount and run. Half a mile to the other side, enough to become a pincushion, even on horse. Not good. You continue walking, waiting for the cold embrace. You walk as your sweat beads on your brow and your eyes get blurry. You walk, legs trembling, looking down, waiting. But nothing happens. And you're on the other side and you're free and you are alive. This must be your luckiest day ever. Maybe not for the part about the prince, but that's it.

You probably should go to the nearest city. To do what?

We're gonna make a name for ourselves one way or the other. If nobility doesn't want our skills then we'll make it as a freeman.
Thus try and look for existing bands, or maybe recruits to form our own band.

I'd say the taverns and fight clubs are a good place for that too.

And we established there is magic too, in fact we know the basics of healing magic and have used it on our horse already. So maybe we can learn the craft of ring making and...

I find that one far more likely. they might have tensions, but they can't openly harbor you and the king might give them trade concessions or some such in exchange for you being brought before him in chains.

Question:
If joining the military in any form, be it mercenary, knight or whatever else, what kind of action would you expect from it? Would you like fantasy races in your fights? Large scale or small scale? Would you like monsters? Like, going at gigantic monsters with an army?

Would you like intrigue and political machinations be a part of this? Where should I take this?

Consensus seems to be with merc, and that's what the MC thought after the forest, but I'm not sure I could work political in the quest before your company is established and recognised
>>
>>36266039
>Magic
hey wait a second! Fantasy setting with magic...

can we be a murderhobo adventurer? Delving dungeons and the like for ancient magical items, secrets, and power?
>>
>>36266079
Large, small and monster
Intrigue is always good
>>
>>36266079
>Politics:
Yes
>Fantasy Races:
Sure, don't need to go full on weird races all the time, but have a decent amount, or fantasy armies.

>Large or Small
Small at first, large when we can? Diversify, if we invade a castle it's probably large, if it's just say go into a dungeon and kill a mob, well small it is.

>Monsters
Hell yeah, and gigantic monsters are amazing.

>How to fit politics
Well we can always have small scale roles, like being involved in noble disputes and wars through quests. Gain favour from certai nimportant characters or have people from our past show up because of our house and deeds.
Just start small with small political impact, small rebellions or plots and grow it from the play.
>>
>>36266122
I like this
>>
>>36266122
>gigantic monsters

Hell yeah

>Weird races

Provided they fit rather than being weird for the sake of weird. Melvielle strikes the balance well in his Bas Lag series
>>
>>36266079
Skirmish to large military engagement. I'd prefer primarily humans with fantasy races being stuff like fey that are hard to understand and mess your shit up (See Darklands as the perfect example). Not so much humans with pointy ears.

I'd prefer nothing bigger than a mammoth personally.

I love intrigue and political machinations. The more the better
>>
>>36266289
>Provided they fit rather than being weird for the sake of weird
Yeah I meant in a sensible way. Really he can put in traditional races and weird, non-conventional races (which'd be cool) as long as it makes sense internally and doesn't just go RULE OF RANDOM.

I know we reached a consensus on mercenary, but that was before we even learned this world has magic in it.
What do you guys think of the dungeon delving adventurer idea. now that we do know?
>>
>>36266357
Just personal preference. I don't like the anime-esque climbing the colossus to put it down thing. I get flashbacks of Legolas slaying oliphants at the gates of Gondor.
>>
>>36266299
>I'd prefer nothing bigger than a mammoth personally.
personally I would love some shadow of the colossus or god of war style enemies.
>>
>>36266417
True but he said army vs monster not a single hero unit
>>
>>36266440
that being said, I don't think the mesh well with the world as established (human kingdom with knights)
>>
>>36266400
We may be able to learn magic through mercenary anyway. Hire a tutor, or just get hired by someone to retrieve a magical artifact. I think this game is going to be a bit like early Beserk, just without DEMONS.
>>
>>36266496
when i said adventurer i didn't mean wizard.
we seem to already be a sorta paladin guy, but without a god. having access to low tier healing magic, being a knight, and being excellent swordsman.

And yea, mercs might get hired to retrieve an artifact, but I generally think of mercs as large scale fighting and artifact retrieval as small party fighting.
>>
>>36266533
>>36266496
We still should improve our magic a bit.

Even if it's just improving our strength, speed and reflexes kinda stuff. Or SMITE
>>
>>36266595
oh, yes.
I am thinking a duskblade sort of character.
or maybe muscle wizard.
or just get a lot better at healing, shit if we can maintain a regeneration spell for long periods of time we could become a true terror on the battlefield

You steady your hands and get on your horse. Oh, Thruster, what a lovely steed you are. And the air is so fresh today, the sun is hanging high in the sky, Mother Nature herself seems to be happy to be alive. You should go and hug a tree.

Or maybe not. Maybe you should follow the caravans to the nearest city, find a stable, find an inn, unpack and then go unwind in a tavern; get yourself something to drink, enjoy life the right way.

And that's what you're going to do. You ride by the side of the unending exodus coming out of the gates. Were merchants always this inclined to leave Mechina for Arathe? Strange.

You reach the frontlines of the procession, A city clinging to the side of a hill before you. You don't make out any castle, just a couple of towers standing high above the rest of the city, their white marble sticking out of the blue sky.

As Thruster gets you up the hill, you get a closer view of the city. No castle indeed. Is this a result of the strange Arathean oligarchy? Or the castle could be somewhere else. But the hill would make a perfect place for fortifications. Could this city be independent? Probably not. The ruler prefers a palace? A white marble is still a symbol of power. Not that great in case of a siege, but he could be sure of his military superiority.

Lost in your musings, you reach the city proper. You find a good stable for Thruster and go wander in search for a good inn for you. You move towards the plaza where the towers are. You want some luxury today, even if it's going to cost you. As you look around for a suitable place, the perfect pick enters your view. The Rising Sun. Baths and plumbing.
>>
>>36266801
we need to acquire some dye ASAP. and then repaint our armor to remove all signs of our heraldry. we should also change our beard/moustache from whatever it was before (if we had a beard, shave, if we didn't, grow one). those two should serve as a fairly good disguise all around.
we might considering dying our hair a different color as well.
>>
The sirens didn't get you the first time, but if you can pay with money you stole from a cadaver for treating yourself for a bit of luxury it means it's time to get to that water. You take a room, unpack your stuff and take off your armor in a flash. BATHS WITH PLUMBING. IN THE ROOM. This kind of luxury is rare to come by in Mechina, an inn with a public bath is already a luxury. Maybe it's still Lady Luck's favour, maybe the grass is really greener on the other side.

You revel in the water's embrace, bask in it's motherly touch. As the sky is changing colour, you decide it's time to get out. Man, have you been in there long. Life is good, you love her. And it seems she's started to fancy you too. Time to hit a tavern then.

You dress in some of the clothes from your monk brother, getting a couple of layers more than you would have on the other side of the mountains. They told you the winds that blow on this side are cold, and you surely can feel it for yourself.

You wander the roads towards the outer streets, looking for a suitable tavern. A rowdy place where a good fistfight is easy to come by maybe? "Tavern". Not even a name. With a sign like that, you feel that this must be the place.

As you open the door warmth hits your face, taking with it the smell of sweat. This is the place. You enter, the clientele a colourful assortment of riffraff. You order a beer, pay with a copper coin and take a seat on an empty table. A table reinforced with steel and bolted to the floor. Only one reason to do that. Oh, this is going to be so good.

You're not even halfway through your beer as the first punches start to fly. The day has just barely left it's place to the night and they're already starting. You'd still like some more alcohol in you before joining, but maybe you won't have the right to choose. A burly, tanned, bald man thinks you should join now as he throws a lithe blonde man on your table, making the mug roll to the floor. YOUR mug.

>Pointers? Suggestions? Critics?
Perhaps a bit more interaction? Your dialogue, while not bad by any stretch, was a bit stilted at times. You have the introspection down pat, but I would like to see the MC interact with other people/things, even talking to Thruster more would be good.
Other than that, posting speed would be nice, but no one's going to kill you over being a slow writer when your posts have this level of coherence and length. Speed is something to work on, but not fret over.

>What would you like to see?
Maybe some chances to diversify our job. One anon said dust blade, which would be cool. More interactive fight scenes would also be nice. You wrote the scene with the knights very well without a doubt, but it all came down to a single roll. Perhaps in fights have shorter posts with more options available? Or else have fights that last longer? Either of those would be nice to see. More involving for the players. Would also like to acquire a side kick of some sort (either one that follows us around or one that we choose), but that's up for popular debate.

>What wouldn't you like to see?
You seem to be doing a damn good job of avoiding pitfalls so far. I'm sure we'll all let you know if things seems to be going places we don't like.
