After being reborn in a fantasy world, we have been living doing our best, making friends and studying, working hard.

We are currently 10 years old, and in our very own flying rockit ship, loaded with goods and our friends, are heading back to Opal City in order to load it up with chilled dwarven beer before sending it off to Bastion as we go back to Albion for the new school year,

That sounds good.

Rather than factories, just a warehouse where we stock the materials and then turn them into the finished product.

I imagine some loss of mass happens in the process, of course?

Anyway, starting
>>
>>36305158
A side effect of doing it this way would be that production does not scale per worker - it is entirely supply limited. So you would have a situation where a handful of people in the orphanage know how to craft the chemical, then at the end of every day after supplies are delivered go to the warehouse, cast Earth and Water once, and go about their business. 3 second workdays.
>>
>>36305192
that's a hell of a lot better than strangling chickens all day every day. and much better than any job I can get

what do they do for the rest of the day? we gotta have classes for them to attend so they don't get into trouble

Okaba signed them up into the university remember?
Also, come think about it, they should have a lab in the orphanage so they can demonstrate how to make it manually first. Remember it doesnt work if you cant make it by yourself first, so you still need a level of skill

>>36305192
I dont have a problem with that, but I wonder if we should first supply materials for containers.

The Scarlet Ember begins moving away from the docks, the rockit on it gently pushing it away and out into the open sea before it begins elevating into the skies.

"I'm already missing grandfather" ~says Stella. She had taken a liking to the old man, perhaps because he always scritched her behind the ears when she met him at the door in the evenings.

Maybe she could feel the old man was trustworthy. Who knows?

Mako quietly watches as the city building's grow smaller and more distant. She's taken off from docks before, but this is the first time she has so many friends on the docks and on the ship. She holds Eldric's hand softly, staying quiet.

The ship starts turning south and east as it rises, heading towards the Opal mountains. It will be a 2 days trip until reaching the city.

The crew busies itself checking and double checking, making sure everything is properly secured in place. It is their maiden voyage, after all.

"Uhmm..." ~Okaba looks at the working
"What is it, master?" ~Aura is nibbling on a kebab she bought on the docks before departing.

We'd ask "where does all the food goes to", but honestly, it's rather obvious

I mean, aren't her horns larger now? how many calories does it takes to grow them? are they bone? probably no, right?

"I was thinking which kind of spirit would be good to bind to the ship, and what it would take. A demon or an angel... both would be more fitting on a warship, right?"
"Yes?" ~Aura doesn't really gets it, but she nods
"Which sort of spirit do you get for a merchant ship? if they are just a mess or a group of instructions, can we make our own?"
"So... you finally want to make a little demon?" ~says Aura with a smile
"No, no, not a demon. The Lady said those are corrupted instructions, right? like a enchantment that didin't work"
"Aww"

Uhmm... should we tell Okaba that they were talking about different things? ...maybe not

Well, let's leave these two to their romantic comedy sketch, and go see our rooms.

Mako is still holding our hand as we walk around.

Obviously, its a much nicer ship than the one we used to get here. To begin with, this one is fully intended for civilian use, so it has wider hallways and the rooms are smaller, being actual rooms and not repurposed barracks and warehouses.

Of course it has warehouses, three of them, in fact.

Incidentally, we were all (except Okaba and Aura, because wings) given feather fall rings, just in case.

Well, they're called Rockit Rings, but, you know... WE are calling them featherfall rings, and hopefully it will catch on.

Still... how DO these work? the rockit imbedded in the rings is pretty tiny, so how does the mass ratio works on it?

2/?

Come think of it... maybe this much rockit is enough if you just want to slow down somebody's fall, right? it's not like you need lift and thrust, but... hanging by a single finger would hurt, right?

And that is assuming it doesn't gets ripped off, which would just be horrible.

"Eldric, what are you thinking about?" ~asks Mako

Right, we stopped walking at the entrance of the room to look at the ring on our left hand.

"Ah, I wanted to try jumping off the bed and see if the ring would work"
"T-that sounds fun!" ~heh, she looks so cute when she smiles like that

You probably want to know, so I'll tell you right now... it didin't work. The bed is not high enough, it seems, but jumping off the desk did trigger the ring for a second. And it didin't feel like we were being held by our finger. It's more like our whole body slowed down at the same time.

Maybe a field?

Ugh, we should have asked to be shown a tour of the shipyards while we were in Eopolis. Does the rockit creates a field around the whole ship? then it's less of a Zepeling and more of an UFO?

Well, it's apparently cheaper to make these rings, than to make lifeboats, but we should make sure all passengers give theirs back at the end of a trip. Otherwise, it could happen to become something like a guest stealing the hotel's towel as a souvenir, or a mug, right?

Anyway, the trip back was perfectly peaceful. We arrived on Opal city as planned, and loaded as much beer as we could in one of the ship warehouses, after turning it into a freezer.

This is our ship, and we want to use it to distribute beer around the continent, so doing this much should be fine, right?

3/?
>>
>>36305646
I actually thought we'd use the crew's item boxes for transporting beer. As long as it was chilled beforehand, it wouldn't change temperature, and I thought the beer would stack, meaning it wouldn't require much in the way of item box slots to transport.
>>
>>36305737
But maybe the crew keeps all their personal belongings and work tools in their item boxes, not leaving much space?
These are regular workers, and are unlikely to have power leveled to get the massive item boxes that Lyann, Zoe, and Stella have.

Of course, the destination ports will need their own freezing boxes to keep the beer cold, unless we make chilling cans... but that would probably be too expensiv-- wait... we don't need to think of them as disposable.

We could make chilling mugs, right? and heater mugs too, for hot cocoa and such. Well, they would be a bit expensive so most people wouldnt be able to acquire them, anyway.

For now, we make some smaller freezer boxes to act as fridges once we unload them. In the future, they can move the cold beer from the ship warehouse to these fridges and keep them chill that way.

After saying goodbye to Honoria (she is staying for a week in the city before going to Albion), we climb back onboard the centipede carriage, and head home.

"These don't have a driver, right?" ~asks Stella
"Right" ~Okaba is sitting crosslegged as he reads a tome
"How does it know where to go?"
"Oh, we are unconsciously steering it. It actually works better the less you think about it."

So... if we worried about falling off a cliff, would it head over to a cliff? agh! now we got to try and NOT think about cliffs. Dammit actively trying not to think about something it's hard!

"Can't you do the same for the rockit ships?" ~asks Eldric
"Too many people on board, either for the passenger or the military versions, too many minds." ~says Okaba
"Can't you restrict it to the crew on the cockpit?"
"Probably, but then we'd still need a crew and that sort of defeats the purpose of giving the machine a spirit in the first place"
"Oh, right"

Binder is a "neutral" job. It can bind/create either

>>36305813
So, the centipede carriage is actually steered by our subconscious.

How does the chair work? is it guided in the same way?

Well... alright, that could work. Someone simply thinks "I want something to sit on" and the chair responds. And we tell the carriage "We want to go to X" and it goes there. A passenger ship would have too many people, right? and so would a military ship, but...

Are we basically going to end with truck drivers depending on their GPS and such in this world, too?

I mean, that could work, right? and the more used they get to it, it would work better. Right?

"Well, what about a cargo ship? with just a few crewmembers?"
"That... would probably work, but it wouldn't really be a spirit. It would just be a larger version of the carriage"
"Honestly, I think that's fine"

It's fine, isin't it?

Should we

Well, is what the Alquins are trying to do with the remains of the rockit ship they shot down during the war

Both sounds fun for different reasons and different purposes.

He said you could limit the control mechanism to just one room. so why not limit it to one fancy chair? Have a star trek style bridge with the person sitting on the captain chair being the only one who controls where the ship is going.

I still want a completely self aware "AI" for a ship though because that would be awesome. although that might basically be an advanced golem.

we are already performing actual research with him on enchanting in general. ever since we showed him the ring.

>we are already performing actual research with him on enchanting in general
It seems more like we're just some junior assistant, since it's Okaba that does all of the heavy lifting in regards to research, while we just help out a little when it comes to fabrication.

The Ring and Spectacles, for example, was us just showing him the Ring, and then him doing almost all of the research to actually reverse-engineer the enchantment and then to enchant a set of glasses with it.
>>
>>36306017
>Let him keep researching into making a truly self-aware ship that really knows what its job is?

If you do that, you want to allow it to have a golem of some sort it could shift its mind into in emergencies, like a crash.

Like the blue steel mental modes.

speaking of golems, a golem can swap out its energy crystal for an upgrade.
but what happens to the old crystal when that happens? if the old crystal can now be used again to store magic, than that means you can alternate 2 crystals for a golem, constantly making it stronger (of course, the cost of that is that you don't have 2 golems and one crystal is basically going to waste)

also, with their mp harvesting tech, shouldn't the vamps (forgot name) have a bunch of 1 million MP golems
>>
>>36306159
If we're going by what came after that, then there's really only the Sbastian spider and the icebox.

The icebox, we came up with the idea in general, but in terms of the enchantment, that was almost all Okaba.

As for the spider, we just gave it to him and asked him to take a look at it. We didn't do any research to assist him on that.

Were there any other projects we collaborated on?

The idea of mixing Northern Cards and Southern Enchanting keeps coming up but it always gets ignored, and hasn't actually come up in conversation with Okaba.

when you remove the crystal off a golem, you effectively "kill it" unless its a personality matrix type of crystal, in which case its personality and experiences are kept in the crystal

And Asmund's family has a LOT of golems and undead that basically are all plugged to the mana network so they cant just pour it all into a single golem without shuting down their city

If that is what helps you remember the series, sure.

My point is if you give them sentience, instead of being a complex program you need to give them ways to express independence. Don't want it to be slavery that inly ends with the death of the ship.

Besides have a Golem Mode will let them easier interface with the crew and passangers and take actions to preserve themselves better in cases of accidents. Also will likely aid in personality developement.

Do golems dream of automaton sheep?

"Well, why not a mix? a smart ship subtly assisting its crew, and a crew to fix and handle anything unexpected"
"Uhmm... well, I guess it could be a branch off from our current research. Didn't you want us to look into enchanting cards?"
"Yes, but..." ~Eldric looks down
"Let's not tackle too many projects at once. lets see what we can learn about the cards first, and switch to the assisted ship on the second semester?"
"Alright"

*sigh* At least he didn't mess our hair, because then he would be fully treating us like a kid.

Anyway...

As we stop at home, Zoe runs in and Stella bows to Okaba as the carriage takes off.

Dad isin't home right now. he's joined uncla Danren's adventuring party to help with the house's income.

Elli welcomes everyone with a hug.

"Aaah... the young master is back " ~she cooes happily as she hugs Eldric and Lyann
"Elli, you don't have to call me young master anymore..."
"The young master's the young master" ~she says without letting go

She's wearing a frilly maid dress and apron, and her hair is collected into a soft looking bun behind her head.

She looks cute with her hair pulled up.

Well, Athena comes out with Zoe, and joins the hug.

"Ildric, welcom! Ildric!" ~she says happily
"I'm back"

Holding our hand, Athena walks back into the house.

A week later...

"...uhmm... these are the cheapest card sets you could find?" ~asks Okaba as we come back with a [Plus] and [Minus] card set, having 5 of each. The plus and minus monsters are low level constructs, and their cards grant a rather minor bonus

[Head slot only][Plus]
+5 damage on ranged attacks

[Arm slot only][Minus]
-5 damage from ranged attacks

If you have [Plus] and [Minus] equipped at the same time, you also receive +5 to ranged attack rolls, and +5 to PDV vs ranged attacks.
>>

We did tell Dad how to level effectively, right? One of my to-do list is to get mom and dad agelessness amulets, upgrading them to true agelessness once the both pass like 50k hp. Having two members of a 3 way relationship live 1/10 as long as the third member is just asking for tragedy.

"Alright, let's see... the ritual circle would normally enchant a circle with a minor (+10) bonus to intelligence"

We place the [Plus] card on it, and pour some mana into the circle. It slowly dissapears as the magical circuits are imprinted unto the card...

And the result is... a [Minor Intelligence Bonus][Head Only] Card

So... we overwrote the card, for 200MP and 6g on enchanting materials

Is this a failure, or a disguised success?

"Let's see what happens when we enchant the Minus"

And the result is that the Minus is now a [Minor Dexterity Bonus][Arms Only] card which grants +10 to dexterity.

Placing them on a cheap helmet and gloves thanks to a fellow (dwarf) researcher... they don't give any extra bonus for wearing them at the same time.

"So, we overwrote them completely" ~says Eldric with a sigh
"I wonder if it would work better with better cards?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, these cards only had one enhancement each, right? what id we tried with cards having 2 or more? would all of them be replaced? only one? only the first, only the last?"
"Maybe we should question what are cards themselves?"
"Maybe... they come from living creatures, after all. Even dungeon monsters drop cards sometimes"
"That sounds like it will take a while"
"Indeed"

At this point, a familiar knock on the laboratory door.

"Master, lunch!" ~says Aura as she brings over Okaba's lunch. Lyann is with her, bringing over our own lunch

Try to put a seriously powerful enchantment on the cards. Like regeneration or something that would otherwise only be powered by curses. If it overrights the cards, and still only uses one slot, that's a massive, *massive* improvement.
>>
>>36306826
*overwrites
dunno how that happened.
>>
>>36306796
By the logic of this world, it's possible that kobold cards are the most powerful. They seem to have unlimited capability.
>>
>>36306826
My understanding is that it works something like that
>Enchant item with regeneration
>Cost to enchant is X days and Y mana Z skill
vs
>Enchant item with regeneration using a curse
>Item must have curse beforehand
>Curse is specifically used to feed the enchantment when performing it
>Cost to enchant is X/10 days and Y/10 mana Z/10 skill
where 10 is the multiplier from the curse in question and variest

Now, if you are suggesting a card might be cheaper to enchant... well, we just need to perform the +10 dex enchantment on an item directly and see if took up the same amount of mana and time and effort as enchanting the card with that enchantment.

Also, something to test is. enchant an item with +10 dex, then insert into it a +10 dex card.
>>
>>36306991
No, I think enchantments work by each item having a capacity determined by its rarity, with curses functioning like added capacity, allowing you to put more and more powerful enchantments on a single item.

"M-mast-" ~Eldric chops Lyann on the head gently
"Don't you start, too"

Well, while eating, we talk about it with Okaba.

"What powers the cards? some sort of pre-programmed sequence creates cards at random when a creature dies, but only when a monster dies, right?"
"Right" ~answers Eldric while chewing on his pork chops.

Lyann is sitting next to him, having her own lunch, incidentally

"So, does whatever powered the monster, its mana, now powers the cards?" ~asks Lyann after sipping some juice
"That sounds feasible, but not every monster has mana, yet they all can drop cards" ~says Okaba
"What about golems? they use MP as HP, right? and some jobs use HP and MP, so they are interchangeable, up to a point" ~she says
"Uhmm... now I want to try channeling HP into a enchantment" ~says Okaba

Lyann's intellect has been waking up this semester. Stat-wise, she was already a genius, but she was too meek and mousy to speak up her mind.

She's blooming, isin't she? in lots of ways

"But, that still doesn't tells us what the cards actually are. And I'm not going to buy something like "they're the monster soul" because we did once get 14 [maneater] cards thanks to the herbalist skill, so... I doubt that plant had 14 souls" ~says Eldric

"This is what we know" ~he starts writting bullet points on the blackboard. The prince has a pretty awful blackboard handwriting, but its still readable

*The number of enchantments on items depends on their rarity, with rarer and better items being able to bear better and more enchantments

*A "good item" could handle 2 lesser enchantments or one medium enchantment. We could say that 2L = 1M

*Better items can handle one more medium enchantment by quality, so a Legendary item has room for 6 Medium enchantments.

*Greater enchantments each use as much room as 3 Medium enchantments, however

*Basically 1G = 3M and 1M = 2L

*Curses basically add extra "enchantment slots" to an item, and work in pretty much the same manner.

*So a legendary item could, in theory, have 2 greater enchantments as long as it also had 2 greater curses. Also, curses decrease the cost of the enchantments they power, by three quarters.

"So far so good?" ~he asks us
"Right" ~answers Eldric
"My ankle cuffs have regeneration and double movement speed. Since they also have two greater curses, does that mean those enchantments are not using any slots, then?" ~asks Lyann
"Right"
"So I still have room for 2 greater enchantments, 6 medium ones, or 12 lesser ones."
"Right again"

Lyann nods, and chews on her lunch some

"Wait, did we really need to curse her ankle cuffs, then?" ~asks Eldric
"It made the enchanting process cost 1/4 as much as it would have otherwise. Neither of us had the money to afford their full cost at the time, Eldric"
"Alright"

* Greater enchantments can power an item up to by +200 to a single attribute, but it costs 10000MP to do so, which normally means sacrificing a crystal, as hardnly anyone has ever had 10k MP
* Medium enchantments can power an item up by +100 to a single attribute, but it costs 1000MP to do so, and multiple copies of the same enchantment do not stack so we cant have an item with three copies of +100 Dexterity, for example
* Lesser enchantments can give up to +20 at a cost of 100MP

"And this is why using a curse its so important, because it makes it so it costs 2500MP instead of 10000." ~he explains
"Wait, you used 5000MP enchanting my anklets?!"
"Yes"
"That must have used two rather expensive crystals, no?"
"Yes, but young Eldric was really excited about making this gift for you, so I couldnt really say not to his face"
"...thankyou"

Okaba cleans both sides of the blackboard

"Alright, so now let's see about cards. So far..."

*Plus and Minus are common, as far as cards are concerned
* A lesser enchantment wiped them and overwrote them

"And that's all we know, sadly. We could try cataloguing cards by rarity, but determining card rarity would imply either making a better version of young eldric's rings and my googles to see the slots a enchantment uses on an item, or the number of slots a enhancement uses on a card"
"We COULD also just try with several different cards and learn how many enhantment slots every card has, the hard way" ~says Lyann
>>
>>36307608
This is assuming that cards have limited enchantment slots. Let's try putting a medium enchantment on a plus or minus card and seeing what happens.

"This is assuming that cards have limited enchantment slots. Let's try putting a medium enchantment on a plus or minus card and seeing what happens." ~says Eldric
"Alright" ~says Okaba

Paying 100MP, you apply a +20 Dex to a Minus card

Then, by paying 1000MP out of a crystal, you apply a +100 Dex into the same Minus card.

It replaces the previous enchantment.

"Well, that would have happened on a regular item, as well" ~says Okaba~ "Lets try applying several different lesser enchantments into a card"

The result... each enchantment replaces the previous one

"Alright... so a card can have only 1 enchentment, regardless of its type?" ~asks Eldric
"It would seem so"
"Let's see what happens when we attach a kobold to it

The result...

Yup.

It doubles the +100 Dex into +200

"We should try with a greater enchantment one" ~says Eldric, Lyann and Okaba at the same time
"We could use my mana crystal to fuel it up. It has around 19k mana by now"

Yes, with the assumption that we're going to be getting a writeup for the spellchanter very soon, since it seems that class and the healer/wizard/warrior hybrid you introduced earlier are going to be very very important to our research.

As an aside, I think spellchanter is the wrong name for that job. It has very little to do with chanting spells and everything to do with crystals. Maybe Crystal Mage, instead? Crystallomancer? Truly, Truly, Outrageous?

>>
>>36309199
This is good, but to me the takeaway is that we can get stuff like agelessness, regen, doubled movement speed and various other effects on cards.

Pure stat bonuses are actually on the weaker end of items we can create with this.

Two additional experiments we should try are putting an enchantment on an item, then enchanting a card with the same thing and placing the card in the item to see if the effects stack. Also, enchant two cards with the same thing, put it in two different items and see if those effects stack.

Spellchanter and Son of Akasha just became super important to us.

Also, looking for funny-name math problems for Aura to start misunderstandings with, i couldnt find any better than tha happy ending problem. Help? I mean, the couch problem can easily be misunderstood, too, but its not as inherentlyfunny named as the happy ending problem.

>>36309635
So a legendary item could theoretically have 8 greater enchantments on it with no curses, and those enchantments cannot stack at all.

So let's see, you'd need 16 slots for primary stats+kobold (including mp), which would be three items. You could then put 2 greater enchants on each item, for 6 effects like haste, regen, etc. That leaves you with 2 slots left on those items. We could do much the same with runic equipment, it would just take 4 items.

So yeah, we need to start farming up 10k crystals and getting grumnir to work fashioning accessories.

>>36309810
We also need to test what happens to a succubus/incubus card when its enchanted. Maybe there are classes of cards as well.

Aura ~ A cooking set
Ami ~ A pair of legendary monk knuckles
Dad ~ Six pairs of cute white leather sandals, with adjustable straps. Non magical, but she needed extra shoes
Eldric ~ A set of plushies of everyone, with velcro in their hands
Ellie ~ A hand made cooking apron and little chef hat
Honoria ~ A legendary metal helmet, silver, and sort of pointy
Mai ~ A bath set with perfumed soaps and oils (funny enough, we make those)
Mom ~ A lot of warm clothes
Okaba ~ Cleared up a large in the orphanage for her so she didint had to live in the dormitories anymore. Also so he could surround her bedroom full of alarms and sensors.
Stella ~ Hand made Cake
Zoe ~ Ate the cake, apologized and was forgiven. Agreed that Mako could scratch her tummy all she wanted (which she normally wants to do, but Zoe doesnt allow anyone but Eldric)

Mako moved to the orphanage room, with everyone's help.

We helped Lyann to farm up her MP crystal again.

We kept researching cards with Okaba.

There are lots of "nyaa~ nyaa~ and ah ah!" sounds coming out from Elli's room pretty much every night now, so we are really NOT surprised at all when we find Zoe and Stella sitting outside one night.

only one thing at the time. It may interest you to know the illustration on the card doesnt change, so even if you curse a card, it is impossible to tell, for normal people

Nevermind, found it

A few weeks after that, mom gave birth to Elysia and Fredrick, our newest baby sister and brother.

<Elysia Lightbringer>
<1 wizard/1 noble>

<Fredrick Lightbringer>
<1 healer/1 noble>

Well, the house sure is lively with so many children, now.

Elysia has blue eyes and golden hair, like mom, while Fredrick its more like dad and ourselves, and has light, honey-colored eyes.

Right now, all they do is sleep, of course. Mom is staying home for a while, but there's no such thing as a maternity leave in this world, so she has to go back to work at the end of the month.

Of course, thanks to healing magic, she's perfectly fine already. In fact, she was tired, but perfectly healthy right away after the birth.

Well... right now, she and Elli are taking care of the babies in turns. This include breastfeeding, cleaning them, washing them, etc.

Zoe and Stella are doing their best to help, but... honestly, they lack life experience, so mom only allows them to watch most of the time, unless its about stuff such as fetching things or the like.

On the other side, Athena is clearly jealous. She used to be the baby, and now there's two more babies. Well, it's not as if mom abandoned her, but she has to share mom and Elli with the twins, now.

"Ildric, don go there!" ~she says when we try to go into the room to check on our baby siblings~ "Ildric is mine!" ~she pouts
"Alright"

Well, it's fine, isin't it? Athena can hog us all she wants for a while.

Athena is playing on a toy kitchen, within our sight, so she plays to help Lyann with the cooking.

"Ah, i've been selling spiders! master's been in the library"
"Isin't he your brother? why do you call him master, anyway?"
"Lyann calls you master"
"Yes, but she..."
"Aura calls Okaba that way"
"Yes, but... nevermind"

"Actually, I've tried to have her drop that, but it's no use" ~says Asmund as he walks in from the front

This guy has pretty good hearing, uh?

"Hey Eldric"
"Good morning. How have you been?"
"Hungry, which is why I was looking for Dawn"

No, we are so not falling for that

"Alright"

"No, I'm already used to their antics already, I'm not going to fall for yours too"
"How boring" ~he gets his breakfast from Dawn's item box
"What is that, anyway?"
"A sandwich"
"...alright. So, what have you been doing?"
"Finished the mana network, working on channeling to Dawn through an amulet."
"Any luck with the regicide?"
"Haven't really worried about it. Also, Okaba has been trying to get me to read on some political and social writer's work"
"Ah... yes, I could see him doing that"
"Well, would you like to give me a hand with the mana channeling?" ~he helps Dawn to stand up from where she was kneeling with Aura

They were filling a little box with worms they were luring off the ground

Around an hour later...

"So what is that meant to do?" ~we ask while Asmund assembles a crystal array
"Its a substation for my mana network, it should let us tap into it. Not the actual reserve, but at least the floating mana. Now that we've sold a lot of spiders, there's about 300 or so mana floating in the network at any given time"
"How do the spiders gather mana, anyway?"
"Well, gathering ambient mana is not that hard. You or Okaba probably figured it out already."
"Yes, but it takes a huge construct"
"Alright, hold on... there!"

The crystal array is obviously "on" now. Its main crystal is floating and spinning gently. It is also glowing, but that's pretty redudant

"As I was saying, it takes a large construct"
"Yeah, it does, doesn't it?"
"You ass. You aren't going to tell me how it works?"
"Honestly, its a very simple concept everyone seems to just skip over, and watching them whine about it it's just too funny"
"So you are not going to tell me?"
"Not for a couple of years, at least."
"Oh? but you will?"
"Sure, probably. Alright... Dawn!" ~he calls her over and has her don an amulet~ "Alright, you can go back to doing whatever you were doing, now"

*We happily cast a hybrid metal/wood/fire spell at his face. It gets almost instantly sucked in towards Dawn, who doesn't seems the least bit botherd by it*

"What did you do?" ~says Eldric
"Well, I found Okaba's first journal on enchanting in the library, and decided to mix it with my own knowledge in mana flow."
"...ah. It's a cursed amulet, isin't it?"
"Depends on who¿s wearing it, I guess? It absorbs magic cast in an area and redirects it without failing towards the wearer."
"And she absorbs magic"
"Right, and she absorbs magic."
"Why did you need my help?"
"I cant really cast spells at myself, can I? I mean, can anyone? and casting spells at her would obviously end in the spell going at her either way"
"...alright, so what now, and why did you need the mana array?"
"Well, I... didin't really got how to make a circle to power the amulet's curse, so I powered it up the same way we power everything up back home"
"The array powers it up..." ~Asmund nods as we talk~ "...and it has a limited range"
"Right"

We look up and pop our neck for a couple of seconds

"And you needed a separate array because the one you have in town is only a receiver"
"Yes"

Are they just incompatible systems? are they using different coding, or something?

Well, as it turns out, his crystal array transmits energy as soun. The array crystals humm at a frequency too low to hear, which resounds with the crystal on his creations.

Pros: Things can be turned on/off and only use mana when "on". Enchantments and curses require an almost negligible amount of mana to work this way.
Cons: Unlike with southern enchanting, "on" things require a constant mana flow

Waaaaait a minute... isin't this similar to the idea Tesla had, to send energy out of that huge tower of his, and such?

Well, its a similar concept, anyway.

"So... wait. If I get this right, that huge army your country its said to have... it can't go too far from your city, can it?"
"Ah... right. Well, we are working on relay stations, tho"
"...alright, so, is that really why you guys didin't send any troops to fight the Empire? your array doesn't reach that far south?"
"...yes"
"You do know it made you look like assholes, right?"

Asmund shrugs

He explains to us how to "tune in" to the energy frequency of this particular array... it costs 1 mana per minute to power up a greater enchantment this way.

Every house provides about 3 mana per minute.

Well, it has its pros and cons.

We help him disarm the array, and go back to the school, where we talk with Okaba and try to teach Asmund to use southern enchanting.

He facepalms as he figures it out.

"Alright, so basically you create a stable mana flow within the item itself"
"That is the gist of it, indeed" ~says Okaba
"I think you are missing something. What about items that can activate extra features, like throwing fireballs or triggering spells?" ~says Asmund

According to Asmund, mana can only be truly generated by living beings, so southern enchantment MUST somehow manipulate it surrounding's mana in order to power triggered abilities. Otherwise items would, at some point, simply run out of mana

"Can you adapt that to work with a person's mana reserve?" ~asks Eldric
"Not right now. Ultimately, I would want to connect Dawn to the network, directly, to keep her fully charged or close enough"
"Wait, I can take a fairly good guess at how you are redirecting spells to her through aetheric manipulation, but adding her as... a container? an extra storage?... adding her to an artificial network would need you to..."
"Right, I would need to turn her into the mana network receptable, instead of the crystals"
"uhmm. Since you disassembled the array, is her amulet "off" right now?"
"Correct"
"Can I examine it?"
"Dawn, please come here for a moment."

Asmund takes Dawn's amulet and hands it to Okaba.

"I don't get it, I can't see any traces of the curse. How DO you redirect spells to it?"

At this point, Eldric, Okaba and Asmund start exchanging theories about the differences between Sbastian and Heven's magical circuit plotting.

Eldric has a flash of inspiration

"The spiders aren't really the receivers themselves, are they? they are more like... like a simple line in the sand through which water tends to flow"

*Asmund stares al Eldric for a moment*

"Right. All they do is create a funnel effect in the atmosphere, like a channel, and mana naturally flows through it..." ~says Asmund
"To the actual receiver. The spiders are just the visible part of a immense, intangible machine. It works on math, without any actual mobile parts. That's why people couldn't figure it out." ~Okaba suggest
"You DO need a large machine to chanel all that mana. In fact, its a ridiculously massive thing. You didin't miniaturize it at all, you just took it apart, and it kept working anyway"
"Right, the mana in the space surrounding the spiders is channeled to the array, regardless of how far the spider is from the array. Well, not quite regardless"
"Right, it basically runs on sound, so it can only work as far as the sound can go. And air isin't that good a medium for sound" ~says Eldric~

"Well, if mana can be turned to sound and viceversa, we could use southern enchantment to craft something playing the right sound. Mana CAN be created by things other than living beings" ~says Okaba
"And then we could channel it into the network, and redirect it as needed through relay stations to power items and various things for a ten thousandth of the current MP cost in southern enchanting" ~says Asmund
"If we can create enough generators, the cost wouldnt really matter, tho. An aether power station" ~says Eldric

"Wait, wait, that sounds well, but the truth is that channeling more than a given amount of mana at the same time its pretty dangerous, you know?" ~says Asmund
"Alright, so how much mana CAN you channel at once" ~asks Okaba
"With the array I have in town? about 500 per minute for an hour before it all burns down. Safely and constantly? about 200 per night"
"That's not much"
"Hey, it's free and everflowing mana. Who cares if it isin't that much, it stacks, you know?"

"What are they talking about?" ~asks Dawn
"I dont know, but they look like they are having fun" ~says Aura

"Well, if we can create a mana generator, its storage can be part of the same structure. It would, in fact, be a mana dispenser. Like something handing out a limited number of batteries, every day, forever" ~says Eldric
"What's a battery?" ~asks Asmund
"Oh, they call them Juicers in Bastion."
"I've seen those. I see"
"Alright, so, right now, we could, assuming we can build a ...generator?" ~Okaba looks at Eldric, and Eldric nods~ "power a considerable golem army off a single rockit ship"
"And if we manage to handle more than a few hundred mana per night, we could use it to quickly craft permanently powered items through southern enchanting."
"Let's go one step at the time. Generatos first" ~says Eldric
"Then we need to enhance the capacity of the substations" ~says Asmund

The reality is that Asmunds realm is already doing it. His dad may crack it, or something similar in a matter of time. They could currently with current understanding just use pipes filled with water to transmit the 'sound power' large distances to relay stations easily enough.

Once that is done, it will just take another spark of inspiration to move it onwards.

With our knowledge we know that magic is power now, beyond a doubt. It can easily be converted to mechanical, electrical, heat or hydraulic with current spells. Just with these generators we can convert it to sound and then convert it back to mana.

Someone, sometime will figure it out. If it is out there at once, it is better that a lot more know of it then a realm hording it and springing a fleet of rock-it ship powered armor super golems on the world.

After a while, your small group decides to continue discussing the way to apply this technology before going ahead with it.

Asmund is obviously excited at the ideas we have, but agrees to place the idea of generators on hold. Helping her sister continues to be his number 1 priority after all, so we'll help him with that while discussing about how to use this tech

Thus, we continue our daily lives in this way, working on three projects.

1 - Connecting Dawn to Asmund's mana network. Since it is health related, we give it priority
2- Figuring out better ways to enchant items. There's not much progress there. It feels as if we are already at peak efficiency at the moment
3 - Card research. What, exactly, are cards? many cards have more than 1 effect to them, yet we can only enchant them with one effect ourselves. The best and most expensive cards have as many as 6 different effects

sure. Which tier of agenelessness? the basic one or the one where they cant be ressed?

>>36314045

Well, it takes us the whole semester, but we manage to "plug" Dawn to the mana network. Rather than plugging her specifically, we make an amulet that channels mana from the network to itself, and its user.

The problem is, she "bleeds" a % of her mana daily, and cannot naturally recharge mana. If our mana capacity is a tank with 800lt capacity, hers is a huge storage about 50000lt big, with a huge hole in the bottom.

Right now, the amulet gives her 200 mana per night.

"You know, this was an emergency measure, but we should look for a way to "plug" her leak, so to speak" ~says Okaba over lunch

We (Asmund, Okaba and Eldric) are sitting in the shade of a large tree in the university's garden while the girls either eat with us, or play in the nearby grass.

"I cannot thank you enough" ~says Asmund~ "You helped me save my sister"
"Well, regardless of whatever we think of eachother, she's a completely innocent party" says Okaba~ "Now we could take a new look at enchenting. Your perspective is a fresh one, so I expect good things out of it."
"Right, your method os enchanting basically needs almost no mana to make something work, but that "almost nothing" its still stacking in the long run. We need to improve southern enchanting with it, somehow, or improve it with southern enchanting, however you want to look at it" ~says Eldric
"Well, I already have an idea" ~says Asmund

>sure. Which tier of agenelessness? the basic one or the one where they cant be ressed?
Start them with the normal tier. Once they pass 50k hp, give them true agelessness. It's too much of a risk without having a significant HP buffer.
>>
>>36314381
We should also probably teach the dancer before we give them true agelessness so they can decurse themselves.
>>
>>36314381
Now that we have access to Asmund's mana network (yes, he is fine sharing it with us) we can access about 2100 mana per week. The network currently has 25000 mana, more or less, not counting the 5k on Dawn. Do you want to pay 20k of that mana to make items WITHOUT a curse for mom and dad, or just 2k and give each item a medium curse to power it up?

>>36314343

Asmund's idea is that since the scholars that funded Sbastia came from Albion, both styles of enchanting must share some common traits.

He has been writing a book on sbastian enchanting with a few examples of basic protocols and construct "programs", and hopefully, you and Okaba can find some threads to follow after reading it.

As for uses for our theoretical mana network, Asmund suggest that cheaps automatons taking care of lesser tasks such as sewer cleaning, street sweeping, and dangerous tasks such as acting as "moving shields" for squads of soldiers should be a must.

Well, that could stretch to things as familiar (to us, anyway) as ovens, waterheaters, juicers and other utility goods around the house.

Okaba is worried about the elephant in the room, however.

"Well... alright, those do sound like sensible uses, but... we are in Albion, remember? do we really want to give the mage council here access to cheap armies?"
"We don't HAVE to. We could just make a few units for our own use"
"Well, in the meanwhile, we could work on medical supplies. A small tool able to endlessly cast low and mid sphere healing spells would be priceless" ~says Eldric

If so, we have every starting tier 1 job now. The rest of our party is pretty bad on that front, however. Maybe we should start giving classes to everyone else?

Meanwhile, in classes, e learn how to cast [Berserk], [Heavy] and [Shell] as stand off, single target spells that last 3 rounds, for 20 mana each.

Of course, we also continue going into the dungeons. Including the dungeon runs we did while in Eopolis and this far into the year, we have

Eopolis (this includes cousin Alard)
220x 3039
130x 8588
70x11240

Albion
320x 292
300x 320
270x 525
220x 845
150x 1290
115x 1590
70x 2210

I have 2 questions
1) Is the anon tracking exp with us today? because if not, its going to be super slow for me to update the sheets for next week
2) Are we going to include Asmund and Dawn into our parties? Asmund had 19 levels in spellchanter and 39 in noble (i may rename spellchanter job as something else). As a vampire, he has the advantage that, as long as his party isint wiped out, he will automatically respawn in 5 rounds. Dawn has a MP tank of 5000 that cannot grow, and she cannot recover MP on her own. She's technically immune to magic, and shes a knight 19/noble 19

oh, remember Asmund takes 50% extra damage from healing spells, and he could be exorcized

Well, as the rest of the year passes by, we craft a couple of rings for mom and dad, carrying the agelessness (tier 1) enchantment,

Our school work is excellent, so mom has no complains about us continuing to be adventurers.

We celebrate Stella's 5th birthday with a party at home, a small event where she gets a lot of clothes and toys from everyone, and dad has to promise to let her stay with him all day the day after the party, and scratch her ears on demands.

As a small side prokect, Okaba crafts 6 magically linked schoolbooks. Anything doodled or written on any one of them appears on all the others. Well, he made them as a fast way to exchange research data, so obviously we, he and Asmund each get one. The other three exist because party limit is 6. so he could make that many, and why not?

Their total cost is 600g and just 1200MP, so while expensive, its not prohibitively so (for us, anyway).

We ask him for his notes on it, and make a set for ourselves, giving one to dad, and sending three to grandfather, uncle wolfric, and cousin Alard, with a spare.

Well, the books are 300 pages thick, so while they won't be filled in a rush, they are not infinite, so we all try to keep messages down to one letter a month.

The healing expenders are a success.

>>36315269
>>36315224
lets keep him out for now, then, since he's still in the "morally gray" area for now, even if he's near its edge after we helped him with Dawn

And the exp for Eopolis is new. Its for the last weeks of our stay. The dungeons there are just higher levels, so we have access to more exp there

The healing expenders are a success. The townsfolk begin flocking to them for cheap healing potions every day. At first, its a huge crowd every day, but as time passes, they realize the expender is really a permanent, new feature on the temple, and they begin using it with less fear of it being removed.

A sort of unwriten rule emerges. People going to it must drink the potion right there, so it is clear they are not hoarding it.

"Ah... it feels odd knowing we did that for free, you know?" ~says Asmund
"Odd how? do you regret it?" ~asks Okaba
"No, is not that... now I just worry if doing good things is just fuel for a superiority complex, or not"
"I don't think someone trying to feel superior would even worry about such a thing, count" ~Okaba pats his shoulder

Well, Asmund is still a bit snobbish, but he's not an asshole. Okaba keeps exposing him to the plights of the common folk, and they keep discussing about politics and "noblesse oblige". He will probably never be a saint, but you are less and less worried about him being a tyrant.

As for our research on enchantments... Asmund's method is much cheaper, but as mentioned before, it requires a constant supply of mana, while Okaba's is much more expensive, but it's a one-time payment.

After almost a whole semester, we come up with a "by stages" method which allows us to pay for an item on successive days, but the item is completely inert before the mana is fully paid for,

10000 mana is too much to reliably pay all at once, but 500 mana every day for about 3 weeks its much more manageable, if obviously slower.
***
What do you want to call this method?
>>
>>36315739
That's...a really big deal. Especially to us. That means we can create a greater enchantment in an extremely short amount of time by dumping all of our mana and replenishing it in the dungeon.

So...The Mortgage method would be my suggestion.

A bunch of soft white hair and fluffy ears poking out from under out sheets as we wake up can't really belong to anyone else.

In the morning of our 11th birthday, we get up with a kitty clinging to us, arms and legs wrapped around us.

Let's talk logistics for a moment.

Assume we want to create accessory sets for our entire family that give greater enchantments for all primary stats, along with mp. Additionally we'd want effects like regen, haste, refresh, and celerity if possible. All linked to kobold cards because they have numeric effects. That will fully fill four 6-slot accessory items. Assume runic quality for these items because legendary offers minor boosts compared to what we're putting into them. What the hell, throw in agelessness for one of the items just because.

So that's 13 effects per set, each costing 10k mana to enchant. 130k mana. We can use around 4k mana at a time, so it would take 2.5 times our mana to fully enchant one effect. Assume it takes 10 minutes to key ourselves down into a dungeon and refill mana, then key back to a lab. It would require 2.5*13=32.5, 33*10 = 330 minutes, or 5.5 hours to fully enchant one of these sets, assuming all other materials were set up. So basically one full set per day.

We have 10 members in our family. It would take us about a week and a half to set up everyone with this equipment.

Card requirements would be 120 kobold cards, along with 120 cards of any type that can be placed into accessories, preferably as cheap as possible. 40 runic accessory items, split up into sets of 4.

So gold-wise that's probably in the realm of 1000 or so. Easily affordable for us.

6 slots
1 natural greater enchantment slot
2 naturalmedium enchentment slots
3 cards

36 effects, albeit 12 of those are medium, and 24 ate greater

greater costs 10k mana each so 240k there, and 12 medium, or 12k. Thats 252k mana per set at 500 mana per "payment" thats about 504 payments per set... i think. Im sleepy now

In Eopolis we can fight mobs that give at least 5x the xp per kill.

Probably solo runs are not worth explaining the increased risk. Besides I think Eldric is the only one driven for the levels.

Not necessarily true. If this really is using disgaea's xp chart, then all we have to do is get to level 99 of a dungeon. It's a discontinuity in the xp chart, and monsters at that level provide as much xp as level 300 monsters otherwise.

that is what I figured. A lot of the high level boss rooms are likely not simple smash him, but have fight dances you need to worry about. Like if some Zelda bosses were multiplayer, or other things that complex mmo bosses need everyone to do at once.

So if the eastern and other dungeon top at level 40, we likely will need to wait till next summer to push lyann to scion.

in disgaea its easy to power level because there are levels specifically meant to help grinding

I remember that level where every single square in the map made everyone invulnerable but one, so you had to walk to surround that square and then throw a monster in after rising its level as high as it could go

(in disgaea you could throw a monster into another and their levels would add up and turn into a single monster)

Or rooms where every square meant killing something on it gave you x25 times more exp, and the monsters were both the HARDEST type, and the type that gave most exp, so it really was only really really hard the first times you did it, but then I remember farming a level like that dozens of times

Yes, i am more and more decided to have a dance dance revolution fight at some point

Was thinking in having the lady reveal to Eldric the location of an ancient secret chamber which really looks totally new because the lady just included it in the gam-- erhh... world, for him, where you can bring the preserved body of someone and have him/her reincarnate as another race

So we could switch races from human to elf or beastmen or dwarf or maybe from succubi to centaur or human

or maybe make a reservation, or call dibs on where do we want our soul to reincarnate if killed, like, say "on my next life, i'd like to be a bear beastmen and maybe create an item which, containing a relic from our current life, like a bit of hair, helps our friends unlock our memories from our current life after we are reincarnated. Honestly I think I prefer that style of "immortality" than agelesness
>>
>>36325673
The later disgaea games balanced that out a bit more. You need to be a LOT more powerful before the *300 exp maps are easy. If you plan on using them to powerlevel at a point where you still NEED to powerlevel, ending a turn with any of the enemies alive will slaughter most of your forces. They really polished up their map design.

A shame only the opposite can be said about their stories.
>>
>>36325737
Disgaea

there was a level full of succubi and catgirls, and your MC is afraid of sexy women (he's fine with DFC tho). It was an ambush prepared by an enemy to take him out.

The entire map minus one square of it made everyone invulnerable, so you had to throw all the succubi and catgirls into eachother, and then throw the super high leveled result into the one square where she wasnt invulnerable, and beat her with all your party members.

Since you could visit fights again, I did that map a few times to level up a lot.
>>
>>36325809

I figure the lady likely knows we are a reincarnated soul, but I wonder if she really knows how much the stuff slides into our notions of games.
>>
>>36325777
>There is traditionally a level in the cave of ordeals designed for 3x3 abilities to wipe out every monster while getting xp boosts.

yeah, I made Ami a monk, and with her 3x3 punch ability, she got to like level 700 SEVERAL times, since I kept reincarnating her. She got to the point where she could 1shot enemies level 2000+ with her regular basic attack because of how many times I had assigned her bonus points from reincarnation unto str
>>
>>36325809
Not a fan, to be honest. I'd view it as more of safety net in case something manages to kill us while true agelessness is active.

>>36325834
This is definitely not true for disgaea d2. CoO6 can be done at really low levels as long as you bring appropriate support classes along, with no chance of retaliation due to outranging everything. It takes a while, but it's very safe.
>>
>>36325873
>she got to like level 700 SEVERAL times, since I kept reincarnating her

[autism intensifies]
Don't reincarnate until you get to level 9999.

To really get the most out of those levels, you have to farm up some statisticians and put those in items. That way you can go from level 1 to level 9999 in a single run.
>>
>>36325809
there is one thing I want to ask the Lady when we have private time/no one else can over here. why do we remember our past life?
or do you think that would be a VERY BAD idea?

>>36325850
ty any one know were to get a copy of it for computer?
cant find it on Steam or torrents
>>36325879
but turning elf would give us the longer life span to not need true agelessness
>>
>>36325879
>outranging everything
that's kind of what I meant. Without that, you'd get slaughtered. Even then, their evilities heal each other and buff DEF/RES, making them pretty damn tough to damage to begin with.

But I did forget to note how much easier it is to increase spell range in d2. 6 out of my 8 main damage dealers were mages.
>>
>>36325873
I did the same thing, but I was horribly inefficient since I didn't know jack about statisticians and item worlding and weapon mastery.

But now, I know better. Now, I underlevel the bonus bosses by a good third or more of their levels and beat the crap out of them with combos.

and then the hard drive died and my saves were lost to theNether.
>>
>>36325989
I think you're remembering a different level. CoO6 had the shark dudes in 2x3 and 3x3 groups. Their only evilty increased their stats for every water ability used on the map.

I only had 2 primary units, one a succubus item world runner and heavy artillery angel to blow stuff up. Both mages, of course.
>>
>>36326065
ah, I meant the grinding map before that, with all the flowers and angels. It sounds so innocuous when I say it like that...

Sharks are easier to kill, yeah. That's actually what I should be doing now, if I had a tv to plug into the ps3.

....but goddamnit, why didn't they just use the story from the LNs. THAT was more entertaining than this imouto business.

Alright, I think we've gone off-topic long enough.

>>36325873
Is there any comment you want to make about the suggestions for Worldsoul/Machinist/Binder?
>>
>>36325906
oh god that sounds hilarious

>>36325985
>any one know were to get a copy of it for computer?
you serious? google "disgaea rom" and "ds emulator"

I dont see why wouldnt you want to be reincarnated with your memories as a guaranteed fact. I think thats far more of a real immortality than just being really tough to kill

>>36326044
somehow, i ended with aura as a succubi reincarnated several times to the point she just used hip thrust to 1 shot things dozens of times her level. She just walked over from level 1 to item gods and sucked them dead. Just needed to recharge her MP a couple of times

>>36326065
>I only had 2 primary units, one a succubus item world runner
yeah, thats pretty much what i did with Aura. HP drain with hip thrust is too op, man

>>36326135
holy fuck I missed those suggestions. Can you link me to that post?
>>
>>36326370
>holy fuck I missed those suggestions. Can you link me to that post?
no, uhh, the ones in the last thread. You lolled, but you didn't really say if those were what you were looking for.

I mean, it makes sense for the actual mecha to combine into voltron, but is that what you're going to base the machinists on?

and there were a lot of suggestions for the Worldsoul passive, but you didn't really say anything.

Binder...well, I don't even know where to START with them. Giving them a class or job is the only way I can think of where a soul has a mechanical benefit, but when I remember that they already have stat scores based on the creator, they just become broken as fuck. Maybe they can't use job abilities?

aaaaand I just realized I should be sleeping.
>>
>>36326370
its no that we didn't want it just sorta wanted to know why it happened the first time to us with the mundane world. well I think Eldric it interested in why
>>
>>36326452
ah

ive been thinking about it for a while
I think the machinist will be the sbastian version of the alchemist. Remember they make golems (and undead) powered by radio, basically.

ah, sorry, I didint really like any of the suggestions for the WS passive. Mostly I felt he should be able to channel lots of mana, maybe recharge his own mana somehow? transfer hp to mana?

goodnight
>>
>>36326370
>I dont see why wouldnt you want to be reincarnated with your memories as a guaranteed fact. I think thats far more of a real immortality than just being really tough to kill

If we're talking about true immortality, I'd rather have something like Alucard than reincarnation.
>>
>>36326665
I like the idea of coming back as something else give the whole I am a Soul, I have a body feel
>>
>>36326611
Like I said, manipulating party MP is a hell of a lot of number crunching.

I'm thinking either give a temporary MP pool that refreses every battle and can be used by the entire party.

Or the MP of a killed unit is directly given to a target party member/self.

Night.
>>
>>36326611
Speaking of mp, you said in an earlier thread that using mp while young built it up faster than normal. How does that work, exactly? Because currently we have precisely the same MP as anyone with equivalent levels, regardless of age.
>>
>>36326611
I just caught up.
I assume the cargo ship has just been making rounds and rounds since the time we left it in opal city?
>>
>>36325809
if that is what you want to do with it
personally, it only bothers me if there is "agelessness" that works like dnd where you still die "when it is time" for no reason.
I think there is all the reason it the world to make agelessness not be a thing.

than again, your setting does already have races that are ageless or just live obscene amount of time. And with reincarnation it matters a lot less
>>
>>36327359
>if there is "agelessness" that works like dnd where you still die "when it is time" for no reason.
This pisses me off as well.

thats as far as you know. I didint want to say it precisely because I knew it was too abusable, but up to age 10, if you spend MP, your soul overcompensates and your max MP grows by what you spent the day before, like in the MT light novel

So every single MP we ever spent before our last birthday has been added to our max MP, but its not mentioned in our sheet. Eldric has more MP than several hundred mages put together.
>>
>>36326986
yes, i also assumed we built it a dock/warehouse somewhere in the merchant district

>>36327598
IC, I want Eldric to find out when he's against the wall and the MP on his sheet says "empty" and he just tries to channel a dragonforce or something and suddenly his MP says 27050/29000 or something like that
>>
>>36327598

Thats, well insane.

Every day we went into the dungeons, we dumped out thousands of mana. We threw out 100 mana spells like candy, with a lot of tricks, blowing up stuff.

>>36327645

Of course, he has yet to ever go empty, he might eventually hit a wall, or come across someone who tries to drain his mana, has him drained they think, then suddenly it is like they are staring into the abyss to find Eldric staring back with an insane amount of mana.

Our sword kinda makes it a cheat.
>>
>>36327673
>We threw out 100 mana spells like candy
Try 600 mana spells.
>>
>>36327645
What about when we charged up crystals using son of akasha? That required us to go empty or nearly so before heading to a dungeon to recharge.

Also, considering how our damage spells can be cast with hp, and we can get mp back from that, it seems like this reveal would be a hard situation to set up.
>>
>>36327727

I imagine a lot of it as it went later, we step into a room, toss out a spell and then move to the next room.

Looting likely took more time then killing the mobs.

>>36327598

I guess when Stella and Zoe hit age 10, they will have a bit of a surprise mana wise also.

Mako also used a good chunk of mana.

Of course anyone trying to kidnap make, it will be a car driving into an industrial shredder.

They just don't know it. I can imagine like a 100-500 man strike team only succeeding with like 5-15 people left.
>>
>>36327806
The only way I can think of to kidnap mako (or really anyone else in our family) is by killing them in a single round with a shitton of dragon forces, preserving the body and then putting a slave collar on them before resurrection. She already has those legendary gloves which we should, if we haven't already, add a hp/mp drain switch to. Those combined with her stats make her damn near impossible to take down without overwhelming force in a single round.
>>
>>36327860

Need save or dies. Or save or sucks. Just hit her with them till she crit fails.

About the only one I know without a save is the arch druid one.

There might be grapple rules too.
>>
>>36327727
try circle 10 so 1000 MP spells even if it was the last few dungeons we could do that in we are at tear/circle/level 10 spells right?

>>36327645
then would that stay our MP range? or after the stress would it go down ?
cause when we notices that IC

>>36327780
needing to dragon force/HMKTM when it really counts, or find another Grand Elder Guru like dude to unlock MP reserves
like the pope did for Scion
also if we got so much MP how come the succubus try and drain us? or can literally no one tell till we unlock it?

>>36327806
>>36327860
or they could capture a weaker friend and force her to surrender, not all things require bruit force. not to say she wouldn't land a proper hurting on them before, but she is a nice little girl she may give in to save some one else. like our little sister/family the kids at the orphanage she is living at. tone of ways to take her with out force they probley only are using force because they know she has two guards her age, and how tough can the friends of a 9 year old really be? hell our utter destruction of every attempt they have made will probley make them resort to more underhanded methods.
>>
>>36327673
now imagine if the players had KNOW we were getting it added the following day to our max MP
>>
>>36327963
We'd have deliberately grinded mp. Just like we grinded levels.

If your reasons for keeping this hidden were because it would make us OP, that seems pretty shitty, honestly.
>>
>>36327963
probley would have burned all our MP every night or found an excuse
>>
>>36327963

I consider it largely a moot point. We have dumped out thousands of mp when we adventured and still ended up with a full tank.

We likely might have 100k or more mana, and would take us a month or more of normal rest at extreme wisdom to regen it.
>>
>>36327780
>What about when we charged up crystals using son of akasha?
we got son the akasha after our 10th birthday, so it doesnt matter. And nearly empty is not empty

Also, I intended for Dawn to go out of control in the future at some point and "attack" Eldric. It's not as if she's romantically involved with anyone, is it?

But maybe Asmund's dad could trap everyone and try to drain their mana (that's sort of his family thing, after all, handling mana)

>>36327806
Mako also has fairly more mana than your usual mage. Not as much as Eldric of course, but still a LOT

Honestly I forgot about Zoe and Stella. I shouldnt have said it yet. They still have years and years to grow their max MP this way

>>36327860
eh, you are looking at it wrong. You are thinking on how to kill them to put a slave collar on them, when it would be easier to just wonder "how to trick them to put a slave X on themselves"

Replace an amulet or other piece of jewelry with an identical copy which acts as a slave collar is the simplest way. It doesnt has to literally be a collar, after all

Or simply take someone hostage until she puts the collar herself.

For example, she's out on the street with Athena, when she loses sight of our baby sister for just a moment, and presto! instant "put the collar on or the kid dies" situation
>>
>>36327933
>cause when we notices that IC
did that phrase get cut? and it would stay our new max

>>36327933
At the time, Lyann's crystal has sliiiightly more MP than we did. That said, it has like 18k while our "hidden max" was 15k, IIRC
>>
>>36328113
>15k
eh? At that point we had figured out magic bullet and had enough to buy up the tricks to cast 600mp hybrid spells. It would only take 25 casts like that to get 15k mana.
>>
>>36328073
>For example, she's out on the street with Athena, when she loses sight of our baby sister for just a moment, and presto! instant "put the collar on or the kid dies" situation
the problem is that you have no assurances that they will spare the kid afterwards, and if you can rapidly take them out, you can resurrect the kid.

Actually I didint keep it hidden, i just never specifically mentioned.

I said, I think it was on thread 1 or 2, once, that we were going a la MT where expending mana raised our total.

Only said it in passing, but im pretty sure I said it
The very first time we castd a spell, in fact, IIRC without "cheating" and checking the archives

We fainted because we had pretty much no mp, but the next day we were fine and able to cast more.

Then everyone seems to have just forgotten about it
>>
>>36328073
>>36328153
Also, if someone does take her hostage
>Silent cast fireball using archmage to exclude her from the blast
they ded, she unharmed

heck, didn't we level her some. a stab might not hurt her that much
>>
>>36328164
>Then everyone seems to have just forgotten about it
You've gone through like three major rules revisions since then. You've also put out stat sheets which clearly showed available mp. So no, you don't get to pull the 'BUT YOU NEVER ASKED' card when you've been deliberately misleading us.

yes but we also continuously spent mana. Our "tank" is simply too vast to fill unless we spent several months not casting anything so it gets filled.

Hell, Im sure stepping inside it would cause an echo. Our current mana is probably something like 7k out of 150k or something like that

>>36328216
yeah, i really think replacing some of her jewelry, in secret, its by far the easiest way

And im willing to bet everyone is checking the archives right now and going "duh!" when they realize i did mention our mana total was growing that way, once

>>36328244
its a secret mp pool. If i included it on the sheet everyone was looking at, it wouldnt be very secret, right? in fact i was opossed to showing you guys the sheets to begin with but someone asked so IIRC i said "hold on a minute, i need to erase the true mp off the sheet" or something like that.

Again, im just talking by memory about something that happened like... 3-4 months ago? more?

this

Pick one.
>>
>>36328445
I said "we are growing a secret MP pool. Thats why im not including it on the sheet" when someone asked "why does this sheet has no mana on it?". Then I decided to add the "normal" max mana pool by job to the sheet, and show that, and keep the other hidden instead of keeping the MP on the sheet empty, so we would easily keep track of how big his normal mp pool was

Thus, I pick both. Should I make a new thread? we are at page 10
