Welcome to the XXXVII installment of "Disney Villains Victorious."

Disney Villains Victorious is a new /tg/ homebrew project based on the idea of a world, not entirely unlike our own, in which all the villains from all the Disney animated feature films were not defeated at the ends of their movies but were instead victorious, completing their goals in part or in whole.

It is a world in which Ursula rules the seas, defied only by the uncatchable Pirate Lords, the cutthroat merchants of the East India Trading Company and the might of Atlantis and its magitech-toting mercenaries. It is a world where the grasslands and jungles and forests are prowled not only by fearsome primal beasts like Shere Kahn and Scar but also by the ruthless, tireless hunters that stalk them. It is a world where Europe has been divvied up between evil sorcerous monarchs like Maleficent, the Horned King, Grimhilde and Jafar, mad, inquisitorial clergymen like Frollo, and Dark Gods like Hades and Chernobog.

It is not, however, a world completely devoid of courage, heroism or hope. Around the world, the PCs' characters and their allies plot and plan, fight and strive and win their own victories against the villains that would rule them. The time to fight and to be free is now.

Reposting Cauldronborn stats because I need opinions on them:
>Cauldronborn
>Standard mook stats, but an 8 in Robustness, a 6 in Charm and a 3 in Intelligence.
>+3 to Brawl, Intimidate and Avoid Harm.
>Undead: The Cauldronborn will never obey commands contrary to those of the Horned King or a Wight. Though they can attempt to determine if somebody is lying, they cannot perform any other intellectual or social actions. They are also immune to any social rolls, and if killed, they come back to life within 6 days. (Roll 1d6.) Equipment is light armour and either a shield, which gives +1 to Prevent Harm, and a 1 handed weapon, a 2 handed melee weapon or a bow. They can use ranged or melee.

Reporting from Not-Wizards-But-Still-Want-Magic Land: they are reasonable and sensible over there, and I see no reason we can't get along.
>>
>>36309315
>all this shit

It's rules light. Mooks are not the d&d shit you think they are.
>>
>>36309246
>>36309280
Holy shit, here they are, calm down a moment!
>>
>>36309354
That's plenty rules light. GTFO, wizard.
>>
>>36309354
Cauldronborn are more than just mooks, friend. Not every enemy needs to be designed for Zeros. I'd say the Cauldronborn are On-A-Roll mooks at least.
>>
>>36309397
>on-a-roll mooks
>this should be seperated by region and not tier
You are fucking retarded and pissing all over our system.
>>
>>36309354
What I said: we make a rules light system and then everyone wants to make it more stupidly complex.
>>36309397
That's not a thing, they should be Lackeys. It would make the place super dangerous, but that fits with the movie.
>>
>>36309393
Did you turn stupid, Knight? That's not rules light at all, it's too complex and difficult to remember.
>>
Alright, faggot at the end of the last thread here, I'll stop, but serious question.

What would you even do if somebody tried to bring Kingdom Hearts shit into a game?

Because if this project actually gets finished, chances are somebody playing will bring Kingdom Hearts shit into a game.

Also what is a wizard and why is it a derogatory term
>>
>>36309393
>>36309475
>f-f-f-f-false flag!
>>36309485
Go away wizards, we know it's still you
>>
>>36309397
There's no such thing as 'on-a-roll' mooks. Things don't get magically tougher as you tier up.

Stat the cauldronborn as lackeys, make them immune to Social, maybe up robustness by 1.

We never decided if Lackeys get one action or two... I leave the thread for one day and it all goes to shitposting.
>>
>>36309485
I'd do the same thing if somebody tried to bring Kingdom Hearts into any other game: Be passive aggressive and then bitch about them in a That Guy thread.
Also, there's a troll whose schtick is suggesting we put in wizaeds. Literal 3.5 wizards. Everyone hates him because he causes faggots like >>36309495 to have an excuse for existing, and he's kind of a faggot himself.
>>
>>36309485
You tell them to take their weeb shit and leave.
The fact you thought ONE OUT OF TEN players would play a generic anime character out of all of Disney and talking animals and so much shit shocks and infuriates me.
>>
>>36309485
We would just tell them to pack their shit and go home: we don't want weeaboo bullshit here
>>
>>36309485
Up to the GM, really.

We had some blokes wanting to play wizards, based off of precedent from disney films. For a variety of reasons - notably the potential unbalancing of the game and making it necessary to put in a lot more rules - PC magic was deemed out. Some people stirred shit up, and now there's an irritating joke about how everything we don't like is wizards.
>>
>>36309485
Kingdom hearts doesn't fit our current design scheme. If someone brought it in, I'd ignore them or tell them to reroll.

Wizard is a derogatory term due to a: a joke made back in thread ~5 "can't sleep, wizards will get me" and b: a number of shitposters complaining about not being allowed to play a magician.
>>
>>36309499
I suppose you're right. I kind of just thought it'd be easier if we had different classifications of mook for each level, so we still had a general idea of what we're meant to do with them, we just have different levels of them now.
>>
>>36309499
One action is fine, they are already though enough. And you should never leave ever again Nob, we are lost without you.
>>
>>36309475
>It has different numbers in it! You can't expect me to do MATHS in a ROLEPLAYING GAME! Nobody did maths in Disney!
>>
>>36309551
Of course he's right. Now stop complaining: lackeys are fine.
>>
>>36309551
No worries. The design currently specifies players rolling through mooks on On-a-roll and nearly ignoring them in Hero tier. If you want cauldronborn tough, make them lackeys so they survive a hit.
>>
>>36309578
>herp derp, where are all the broken builds?
>everyone is useful in combats? what is this shit?
>why can't I play a super complex wizard against super comp'lex enemies while the fighter crys in a corner?
Nice arguments there, faggotron.
>>
>>36309619
>All of these are equal to what I said
>>
>>36309613
Lackeys they are, then.
>>
>>36309578

Another question, have you guys decided to do anything with Pixar?

Because they were kind of important to Disney, but I could see them not fitting in. Although if changed slightly, some of their things could probably be usable.

>>36309670
Seems fine to me. I mean what kind of Hero doesn't have an enchanted weapon?
Of course I'm really new to this, so take my words with a grain of salt.
>>
>>36309707
That would be me. Guy making all the magic, so guy in charge of the mages, therefore archmage.

>>36309833
Meridia of Brave and her villain Mor'du are confirmed in this setting. All other Pixar stuff is too modern and is being saved for a splatbook.
>>
>>36309828
A PC who based his character off Disney Princes and implied a disneyesque romance hook with Elsa, which anons instantly used for magical realm purposes because the PC was chivalrous. He's also our local song-writer.

Charles Muntz is with the Hunters.
>>
>>36309886
His player's said multiple times that he probably isn't interested in her in THAT sense. Thought that should be mentioned.
>>
>>36309886
So you are pretending to make a game when instead you're basically just circle jerking around and talking about your waifus?
>>
>>36309871
Alright, also sorry for all the questions, but looking at wiki page and pastebins, there really isn't a comprehensive list of all the lands and Kings/Queens, so it's a bit hard to find out who's in or not, what their land is like, and shit like that.
>>
>>36309917
Sverd's just said that Sverd the character isn't sexual at all. He wrote a Saigon-esque song about being unworthy of loving Elsa and eventually comig to terms with his repressed emotions, it's pretty good. He just dislikes the smut and shipping.
>>
>>36309924
Will you fuck off, wizard? Romance subplots are a Disney fucking staple, someone making one, especially with a damsel in distress that eventually helps out the man more is DISNEY AS FUCK. It's just the shippers who are circle jerking over waifus and ignoring personality.
>>
>>36310024
I don't even ship them, I just want more Elsa smut.
>>
>>36309945
They're all there, though admittedly it would be easy to miss some if you skimmed. And there is a fair deal that isn't mentioned on 1d4chan: the Elite Hunters Club includes McLeach, Gaston, Clayton, Muntz, Amos Slade (of Fox and the Hound) and Buldeo (a character from the book version of the Jungle Book that was planned to be put in the film but got cut). Also Cruella hangs out with them for furs.

>>
>>36310054
Come to think of it, we've never actually produced any smut. And at least for me, the whole icy BDSM thing was a thing to chuckle immaturely at as opposed to fap material.
>>
>>36310120
It stopped being a funny and immature joke about a PC being a pussy when people started whipping out their dicks.
>>
>>36310120
We talked about reindeer rape, though.
>>
>>36310156
It's more him being subservant and her being dominant, plus she's his queen, than him being a pussy. Still, it is a great tragedy to have lost that funny, immature joke to faplust.

I decided this morning that I would write an origin story for Mahrikatohka "Mary" Smith, one of our first test characters and a feature in several bits of writing so far. I hoped to show a little bit of what life may be like in the Imperial Atlantean Republic, and how a hero in the DVV setting might get their start. I hope you enjoy it:

>Talking Guinea Pig doing most of the occult legwork, disarming bombs, picking locks and taking out a grown armed man with the old "Squirrel in My Pants"
>Cowboy shooting bad guys, talking down bad guys, kicking off bombs and fighting on top of a running train like a real cowboy
>Polynesian pirate captain taking down a man with a strongbox, bagging himself a waifu and pumping the BBEG full of holes
>Forever drunk first mate throwing people around like ragdolls, tanking like a boss and going WWE SMACKDOWN on the baddies

True.
>>
>>36310375
But it's Disney, man. If it's not PG, and if it wouldn't go right over kid's heads, it just doesn't belong. Ice bondage could've passed for Elsa just being really clingy and/or possessive.

"NO! Don't leave me! You can't leave me! I can't stand to be alone again!"
>>
There is no valid reason that this shipshit should have ever continued past Knightfag making that one bondage joke like five threads ago.

I'm just gonna not reply to it from now on,I suggest everyone else does to. I'm working on the national anthems and the pastebin should be up when it's done.
>>
>>36310438
No. Bad. We're getting into magical realm here.

Please, let's talk about new traits, chimeras, lesson advancement rates, and Powers.
>>
>>36310530
Alright, alright, Elsa freezes Sven to the wall because she wants Sven's company in a totally nonsexual way.

So what new traits and powers have popped up recently? I'm not in a state to brainstorm many myself.
>>
>>36310558
There was one about being too pretty to hurt, using items to block Strikes for you.
We need to revise the Trait list and rebalance things.
>>
>>36310558
That actually sounds like something our Elsa would do. She's so desperate for people to like her, she'll imprison them and force them to have a conversation so they can tell her that really, she's nice, isn't she? Right? She isn't really responsible for murdering her sister and ruining everything and OH GOD IT'S ALL MY FAULT
>>
>>36310597
Right, I think the pastebin still lists an overpowered Chivalry, an undefined Sea Legs...oh, and speaking of Chivalry, can anyone here think of a warrior culture that would be cool with you lying?
>>
>>36310627
Probably the Huns
>>
>>36310627
Spartans were ok with anything if you weren't caught, last I checked.
>>
>>36309485
Wizard is a deogatory term because some people took a strawman too seriously and now believe that anyone who wants magic in automatically wants starting characters to be direct ports of level 20 D&D 3.5 wizards.
>>
>>36310612
I can see why that would make throw herself in the arms of the first newcomer than wants to confort her, but the idea of one of the few openly gay Disney character suddenly going straight for the big chivalrous man is clearly problematic. Please, let's stop talking about it.
>>
>>36310612
And though we will never speak of it, we will all know that after Elsa and Sven have their Disney wedding, they will engage in ice bondage from time to time for nostalgia's sake.

Key words being "we will never speak of it".
>>
>>36310678

Don't feed the troll, everyone.
>>
>>36310768
Knightfag, fun is fun and jokes are jokes, but I don't like how you're using your boogeyman against a very simple concept. I don't care about magic in our game, but this is getting serious: portraying a gay character as straight is very offensive.
>>
>>36310752
... So, you're saying that in the climax, where Elsa's love for her sister thawed out her frozen heart, that was actually her turning gay after Elsa gay'ed her with her gay powers when she tried to visit her in her gay castle and then Elsa, a woman, hugging Anna, another woman, thus making her straight?
>>36310831
Elsa isn't gay.
>>
>>36310831
>thinking that you're fooling anyone with at least 2 brain cells to rub together
>thinking that all responses serve any purpose than to warn those unfortunate enough to only possess a single brain cell
2/10, you made me reply.
>>
>>36310879
There was also my post, which was just me laughing because of how ludicrous the concept was, even if it was a troll.
Think about it: If Elsa's powers are a metaphor for homosexuality, then in Let It Go, she makes a gay bridge, and then constructs a gigantic castle out of gayness, and also makes herself new clothes out of gayness. However, she also accidentally covers everywhere with gay. Her sister comes to warn her about this, but she accidentally shoots gayness at her sister, thus Gaying her heart and causing her to slowly turn gay.
>>
>>36310877
>>36310879
Why are so in denial? Why can't you let us have at least one openly gay Disney princess? Is your precious masculinity so threatened by the concept of a woman that wouldn't fall for you macho shit that you just have to portray her as straight, even if it's clear she's not?
>>
>>36310927
No, it's just that Elsa's powers are clearly not a metaphor for homosexuality, because otherwise that's also approving of incest.
I should stop feeding the troll.
>>
>>36310927
This is a fucking game design thread, not Jezebel. Talk about the actual game, not some shitty shipping only 2-3 people out of 40 care about.

>yfw elsa isn't even a disney princess and is actually a disney queen
>>
>>36310946
What's the problem with lesbian incest? It's not like they are gonna make deformed babies together.
>>
>>36310926
Eh, if we go by X-men, all that you need for something to be a metaphor for homosexuality is for it to appear around puberty and for it to be something you want to hide, even from your loved ones. Of course, Elsa's powers showed up way before puberty, so
>>36310927
can suck Churned Up Bog's cock.
>>
>>36310752
>>36310831
I agree that portraying a gay character as straight is offensive. That being said, Elsa isn't gay. Frozen, by the way, does have an openly gay character. It's Oaken. When he shows Anna the sauna and says "Hi, family!" the sauna has a big man and some kids in it. I would actually be glad to see an openly gay Disney princess, and I think it would do wonders to open the minds of children and create a more accepting world, but that princess is not Elsa.

When did these threads become so fucking gay? Oh no, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to use gay as an insult!
>>36311039
HEEEYOOOOOO!
>>
>>36310990
Oaken COULD be gay. It would've been common practice for the era for an unsuccessful bachelor to live with family members other than his parents if it was a better arrangement. There's nothing that says 'buttbuddy' or 'brother', so really it's a matter of interpretation. Still, it's good to see that Disney is leaving such room for interpretation, and you are by far the most reasonable person in this thread.

You claim that she is openly gay, and she obviously is not, or you would have actual evidence besides the fact that "Let It Go" does fit the emotional context of coming out. Refusing to view a work through any lens other than your own, very specific one is an exercise in closed-mindedness.

no, that's not anything lingo as far as I know

I feel dubious about the need to put the Persuasion penalty on the Totem Mask. On one hand, the fluff says you only put it on when you want to contact the spirits, so why put that crunch penalty in? On the other hand, maybe the crunch penalty enforces the fluff.

The true best strategy is to do stuff like Oaken, where you throw in homosexuality to throw everyone a curveball. Over time, people will become used to SUDDENLY GAY, to the point that they eventually are not surprised by gays at all, and might even expect them every now and then. And so long as they only expect them in an amount comparable to the general populace, everyone will have won.

Here's one I liked quite a bit.

The Mirror Kingdom - God Save Emperor Francis ((God Save our Fairest)) - Heavily edited for obvious reasons. I can just imagine a bunch of soldiers forced to sing this, forcing down the urge to jump off the neatest bridge every word.

God keep Grimhilde our savior
Our good Queen Grimhilde!
Longe live Grimhilde our savior
In the brightest splendor of happiness!
May songbirds sing their songs for her
A reminder of her eternal beauty
God keep Grimhilde our savior
Our good Queen Grimhilde!

From the tips of her flag
May victory and fruitfulness shine!
In her wonderful mind
May knowledge, wisdom and honesty sit!
And with her God-Given lightning
May justice but prevail!
God keep Grimhilde our savior
Our good Queen Grimhilde!
>>
>>36311976
You must live in a very egalitarian part of the world, then. I'm going to guess....Scandinavia?
>>
>>36311996
Half of it got cut off for some reason.
May the abundance of her gifts
Pour over us, our houses and Empire!
Break the power of wickedness, and reveal
Every trick of the traitorous!
May her Law always be our Will
And may this be like laws to us
God keep Grimhilde our savior
Our good Queen Grimhilde!

May she gladly experience the highest bloom
Of her land and of our people!
May she see them, united under her bene'vlence
Loom over all others!
And may she never fear the edge
Of the tomb or the children's chorus
God keep Grimihlde our Savior
Our good Queen Grimhilde!
>>
>>36311956
Are you also surprised when you see black people in kid oriented movies? Like, a black guy appears on screen and you go all: Holy shit, a negro! This wasn't part of the premise! I'm surprised!

>>36312012

>>
>>36312025
We should change the description from being extremely attractive to just being very experienced manipulating the opposite gender or something, though. Taking a trait later on that makes you miraculously attractive is dumb, and saying that an ugly character couldn't take that trait is too.
>>
>>36312089
Well, first off, I don't think it would be entirely dumb to say "See these traits here? You can only take them at chargen.". And second, two words: Ugly. Duckling.
>>
>>36312028

>>36312128

>>36312122

>>36312089

>>36312127
The monkey will be half charm, half face-smashing with the Gentleman's Billyclub. I'm actually planning to use some sort of "Hey, look over there!" followed by a club to the face/genitals, if the system can handle it.
>>
>>36312148
There are a few contexts other than
>>36312162
which could justify a change in appearance. A late bloomer finally blooms, and blooms fast. A magic spring or potion grants you beauty. Shit like that.
>>
>>36312219
It's also saying that you need to take the trait to be attractive, which is even dumber.
>>
>>36312084
>>36311976
Maybe it's just a North American or Western thing then.
>>
>>36312088
I'd recommend that a Raptor have +1 rank of athletics, be Medium size, +2 Agility and +2 Robustness, -2 Charm.

As for actual racial traits, I dunno.
Suggestion for at some:
Clever Girl: +2 on Melee and Brawl against a target that an ally has already hit.
Pack Hunter: Receives +1 more from Music bonuses than usual.
>>
>>36312236
Okay, that is ridiculous. A rewording is in order to imply that it provides an almost unnatural beauty, and that it's not often needed to be one of the top 10 the most attractive people in a 10 mile radius.
>>
>>36312337
Statbloc from thread 22

Raptor
Size - Small to Large
Natural Weapons - Bite, Sickle Claw
+2 to Agility, -2 to Robustness

Racial Traits
-Clever Girl - +2 on Brawl rolls against an enemy already engaging another character
-Thief Species - +3 on Legerdemain rolls

Racial Powers
-Fastest Thief- Spend a Will point for +10 on any Acrobatics or Athletics roll
>>
>>36312371
Okay, but all beast species so far give +1 rank of a skill to make up for the required rank of Linguistics.
Racial traits: both good. I like them.
Attributes: Beasts are supposed to get +2 to one stat more in the average total, so just give them +2 Intelligence, I guess, and then we're good.

That power is fucking bonkers, that's like a heroic-tier power.

>>36312337
As a velociraptor, it's going to be small, though bigger raptors should be allowed. Should I still be getting the Robustness bonus for a small creature?
>>
>>36312417
Nah, >>36312371 is right, it should probably be Intelligence rather than Robustness. Take his Clever Girl power over mine, perhaps let a tradeoff between Thief Species and Pack hunter (an OR choice), drop the power, and give +1 rank of Athletics.
>>
>>36312361
Any sort of trait that defines how a character looks is literally fucking retarded. Don't add 'unnatural beauty' or any shit like that, it's Disney. A character should be able to be as ugly or attractive as they want without taking a fucking trait.
>>
>>36312441
'Unnatural beauty' is a pretty good place to draw a line.
>>36312439
Hrm. Pity these play tests haven't seen too much music, then I might actually consider taking pack hunter.
>>
>>36312361
I still say that the trait should be based on an intangible, the idea that you can be more attractive through confidence and personality rather than physical good looks.
>>
>>36312496
Perhaps, but I'd like to keep unnatural beauty open as an option.
>>
>>36312371
>>36312337
>>36312439
>>36312417
Okay, official raptor statblock:

Raptor
Size: Small to Large
Natural Weapons: Claw, Bite (+2 to Brawl)
Traits:
Clever Girl: +2 to Brawl rolls against an enemy already engaging another character
Sprinter: 1 rank of Athletics.
Thief Species: +3 to Legerdemain OR Pack Hunter: Receives +1 more from Music bonuses than usual.
Attribute Bonuses: +2 Agility, +2 Intelligence, -2 Robustness.

Look good? It fits on balance with the other animals, at least.
>>36312496
It's based on you being a smarmy fuck more than anything, though it could be anything from personality to voice to being easy on the eyes.

>>36312553
Eh. I know it goes against our whole credo of rules simple, but do you really think these three raptors should all get the same attribute adjustments? Utahraptor looks pretty tough there.
>>
>>36312624
They'll also get size bonuses.
>>
>>36312553
Could give an alternative stat bonus like some other races to better differentiate between large and small sub-species something like
> +2 Agility; +2 Intelligence and -2 Robustness OR +2 Robustness and -2 Charm
>>
>>36309346
>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2av9SQsMIi8

But in honesty, I am okay with them making a magic add on, As long as they don't try to cram it into the base system.
>>
Where would a dapper gentleman monkey come from.
>>
>>36312624
Size adjustments deal with the majority of that, but I'll agree with >>36312634 here, and give Large raptors the option of taking +2 Intelligence, +2 Robustness, and -2 Charm.

>>36312633
>>36312624
>>36312553
>>36312634

>>
>>36312672
That's a tough one. The only Europeans (I'm assuming you're using a European model of dapperness) with a stake in Africa, Asia or South America are the sorts that like to shoot animals. Of course, the EITC controls Oceania, and there's always the possibility of being an exotic pet.
>>
>>36312673
I actually meant "+2 Agility and you can choose between +2 Intelligence and -2 Robustness or +2 Robustness and -2 Charm" but that could work too.
>>
>>36312672
As in, what country still has dapper gentlemen after the villains won?
>>
>>36312736
Statblock redundancy is best, so I'll edit it to +2 Agility, +2 Robustness, -2 Charm.

>>36312738
Probably the EITC or King Louie's domain. That's a good bet for monkeys anyway.
>>
>>36312738
Well, they're jerks, but the EITC are pretty dapper otherwise.
>>
>>36312648
We won't. Although you might want some magic items.
Then again, those are the only real options we have that allow PCs to cast spells, so...
>>
So, in the least thread I saw someone mention a Japan fluff book, is there a link to that I could get? Also a general fluff overview would be nice. The fluff doc is nice but something a bit more general would be awesome.
>>
>>36313007
Japan's a clusterfuck of huns, EITC agents, pirates, and murderous spirits of the forest. People don't go to Japan anymore...
>>
>>36312738
>>36312768
That's right, you could be a monkey from King Louie's domain imitating a dapper EITC gentleman.
>>
>>36313005
By the way, does anybody think it's a good idea to let GMs design items like with the Relic system from Scion? Basically, they have Purviews which are essentially "schools" of magic, and an item is more valuable the more purviews it can access. Of course, you then spend some of your own experience to unlock powers from said purview that said item lets you use, which might be a little too complex, but the idea of GMs assigning spells to items and having some idea how valuable they are is a good one, I think.
>>
>>36313047
Buying magical power for your items with your lessons? That could work.
>>
>>36313047
That sounds....
okay.......
But I'm not really convinced it's a good idea since that seems like a sort of 'easily botched by new gm' thing.
It should still be something you need to TAKE from someone else, like off an Inner Circle or Villain.
>>
Also, who alters the Rumor Mill? I made a change to the character of someone who is in the Abu rumors.
https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1357091/post-character-sheets-here-for-future-games#post-1359782
>>
>>36313069
I also had the idea of there being very few spells, but there are levels of each spell and different items might have different levels. For example, Jafar's Staff has Hypnotism 5 and Scrying 2 (It can hypnotise almost everything, but scrying can be inaccurate or vague, like most prophecies are.) while the Magic Mirror just has Scrying 5 (Ask it to show you something, and it shows you it. No questions asked, no limits, no vague prophetic bullshit.)
>>
>>36313177
So Hen Wen would've been Scrying 2.
>>
>>36313023
Huh, alright. Is there a doc with general fluff on each kingdom? Some have a ton but a lot of others have almost nothing. Like, something saying that Virginia is a colony of Atlantis or what the hell DOOMtown is would be nice.
>>
>>36313177
For example: You ask these items where the toilet is.
>Scrying 2: To find your goal, you must ascend, and pass the two gates.
>Scrying 5: Upstairs, third door on the left.
>>
>>36313173
We're putting PCs into the rumor mill? What? Why?
>>
>>36313216
Shit, that's really outdated.
>>
>>36313177
Well, then I'd recommend keeping to less than 12 spells in total so you don't end up with a Shadowrun or D&D issue of there being hundreds of identically named spells. Also add a recommendation that Scrying shouldn't be in the hands of the players until very late, if at all, and just forget it unless you're good with riddles.
>>
>>36313216
We should probably compile one.
>>
>>36313261
Fuck, really? This is why we need an actual lore doc. A bunch of stories and anecdotes are nice, but we really need something solid.
>>
>>36313295
It would be easier if you just read the old threads where we decided on all this fluff.
>>
>>36313331
If by easier you mean "massively time consuming and filled with needless bitching and arguing" then yes, it is easy.
>>
>>36313331
There are 37 full threads worth of arguments, playtests, crunch, trolls, shipping, and fluff. It's not reasonable to expect everyone to read them all.
>>
>>36313331
There's 36 'old threads' now. Yes, it would be nice if everyone went back and read them, but for the sake of facilitating them getting into the project quickly we do need to summarize our shit.
>>
>>36313356
>>36313377
Fine, then don't read them.
>>
>>36313331
There's 36 pages.
Hell, I have trouble keeping what happened in each thread straight, and I was there for almost all of them.

Anyone interested in the No One adventure doc, in case they want to run it?
>>
Question: How many people outside of the Hunters even know that Dinosaur Island exists?
>>
>>36313455
Well, I'd estimate Atlantis, the Shadowlands, and Virginia at least knows Madagascar exists.
>>
>>36313473
Atlantis, I can see. Why Shadowlands and Virginia?
>>
>>36313382
Yeah something that gives you general idea of the Land, like this.
Agrabah:
Most of the Middle East and North Africa
Desert, grassland and scattered jungles
King: Jafar
Main enemy type: Jinn and human guards
Culture: [ARAB STEREOTYPES]
And so on.
>>
>>36313455
Alameda slim rides a brontosaurus
>>
>>36313496
Well, we do have a map that explicitly says most of that and implies the rest.
>>
>>36313493
Shadowlands is ~1920s ish knowledge, and they knew about Virginia. Atlantis is allied with Virginia, and probably has given some geography textbooks or something to them.
>>
>>36313536
>they knew about Virgina
Madagascar. Shit!

>>36313522
It'd probably be best to lay it out for GMs who haven't been in this thread for ~20 threads, even if we are a while off from that happening.
>>
>>36313536
I see. But more importantly, how many people know about the dinosaurs? If you've got a dinosaur character who was stolen from the nest as an egg and one of their goals is 'find my true homeland', how hard it is to learn where that true homeland is will determine whether it's a On A Roll goal or a Hero goal.
>>
>>36313522
Map isn't that helpful in figuring out what the fuck life is like in the Mirror Kingdom, or what the hell Maleficent's realm even looks like. I'm still not entirely sure on France's fluff. Is it Inquisition, zombies or zombie inquisition? Is Frollo the pope or does he have a puppet pope?
>>
>>36313642
It'll give you the geography. But yeah, we do need to summarize shit.
>>
>>36313642
Froll is a lich. And the pope. He does have an inquisition.
>>
>>36313624
The average person in the Shadowlands or Virginia probably doesn't know shit about Madagascar other than that it's a big island near africa.
The average high-school Atlantean graduate could probably tell you that strange animals live on Madagascar.
You'd need an Atlantean college student or a mid-ranking member of the Global Huntsman Club to tell you that you were from Madagascar.

>>36313642
Frollo is a lich-pope with a puppet inquisition. Whether he uses illusions to make people think he's still got flesh is another story.

Also, Maleficent's realm, etc. is supposed to be summarized in the K/L/Rs, which we seem to have been sidetracked on.
>>
>>36313734
Hm....so, heroic goal? Works for me.
>>
>>36313694
Thats a bit helpful, but its still not great. Like, are most of his soldiers the undead or human? How does he even feel about his fellow undead? Is life in France like the Middle Ages but kicked up to 40k levels of religious wars or...I don't know. This issue is that you have a lot of very good broad ideas and grand themes, but that doesn't help me when I'm trying to figure out what enemies to send out players or how to describe the region they're going through.
>>
>>36313800
The King, The Land, and The Rule was supposed to summarize this.

I don't know when we stopped doing those. We should get back to them. There are some in the pastebin at the top of the thread, if you want to take a look.
>>
>>36313800
Send the FRENCH INQUISITION, which is even less expected than the Spanish Inquisition.
>>
>>36313820
Yeah, if people could write in the gaps of our K/L/Rs that'd be great. Most of them are pretty well done, though.
>>
>>36313821
Oh, I will. But it matters if they will be the ZOMBIE FRENCH INQUISITION or not. Because with zombies you can do all kinds of fleshcrafting bullshit.
>>

Frollo's minions are alive. However, in the right parts of France, you may have to deal with the invading army of Cauldronborn.

So yeah, the followers of the Redeemer, only appropriate to the time period.

We have completed a lot of K/L/Rs previously but haven't updated the pastebin. If someone wants to go Archive diving the ones we need are:
>Agrabah (Caliph Jafar)
>Leopard Kingdom (Queen La)
>Arrendelle (Queen Elsa)
>El Dorado (Tzkel-Kan)
>The Royal Colony of Virginia (Governor Radcliffe)
>The Global Elite Huntsmen's Club (All of them)
>East India Trading Company (Cutler Beckett)
>The Sea (Usula)
>Bald Mountain (Chernobog)
>The Spirit Realm (Aurora)
>The Pridelands (Scar)
>The Kingdom of the Red Flower (King Louis)
>The Free Creatures (Bagheera)
>The Shere Khanate (Shere Khan)
>The Land of the Bear (Mor'du)
>The Under-Empire (Ratigan)

Many of these have been written, some have not. Only YOU can find them in the depths of 36 threads.
>>
>>36314126
I'll try writing the Agrabah one.
>>
>>36314126
I wrote Chernabog's a while back.King: Chernabog, the Wings of Terror, the King of Bald Mountain, but best known as HIM. Chernabog is an ancient, evil thing, a primordial horror from before the earth was forged. Chernabog's power is essentially unlimited, but HE only expresses it via physical might or foul magic that HE must personally use. Demons from places unknown flock to our world, trying to warm themselves around the fire of our reality like an ocean around a candle, and HE picks and chooses the best of them to let into Earth. HE spends the majority of his time on Bald Mountain unless something requires HIS presence, but when HE moves, all tremble in fear at HIS mighty shadow.
>>
Land: The land ruled by Chernabog is a broken, scarred land generally referred to as Bald Mountain – though the Mountain itself is only in a small section of it. Nothing grows there. No plants, no fungi, and even animals find themselves stunted in growth. Yet no person starves to death in Bald Mountain. Instead, they grow thinner and hungrier and thinner and hungrier until there is almost nothing left but a suffering shadow of a person who exists only to hunger and be tormented by the Demons, horrible creatures of twisted flesh, fire, and darkness from other worlds, brought here by his fell power. There is no food. There is no water. Life itself is impossible under HIS shadow, but people are kept alive in their tortured half-life so that they may suffer for HIS pleasure. Visitors to Bald Mountain are generally left alone, for the land itself saps at their life. If they are armed or attempt to help the inhabitants, however, the Demons soon set upon them, rending their flesh and tearing them literally limb from limb as their numbers blot out the sun.

Rule: Chernabog will ignore adventurers and heroes unless they attempt to help the 'citizens' of Bald Mountain, or unless they speak his name. Saying “Chernabog” attracts HIS attention. Saying it once merely informs HIM of who said it. Saying it twice lets HIM know where they are. On the third time, HE may come looking for them himself – and that is something that no one has ever survived. Even saying HIS name once will likely get a swarm of Demons sent after the fool, and the people of Bald Mountain will frequently advise against it.
>>
>>36314126
For the first three it's technically
>The Caliphate of Agrabah
>The Kingdom of the Leopard
>The Kingdom of Arrendelle

>>

Should we just make a separate 1d4chan page, or a google doc like >>36314217 suggested? The pastebin format is good if things don't need to be edited frequently, but...
>>
What skill did we assign tracking ability to? Travel? Trying to write the velociraptor as being raised to be a hunting....hound-equivalent.
>>
>>36314315
Yeah, we should probably move it to a separate 1d4chan page. Easier to see what people change over a google doc.
>>
>>36314348

Agreed.
>>
>>36313177
>>36313262
Keep in mind that Disney sorcery (Wizardry, witchcraft, whatever) can never directly kill. It can cause effects that lead to death, but there is no magic that straight up kills things. This can probably be translated to "No direct damage spells" in game terms.
>>
>>36314336
Should be travel, could be argued as insight.

>>36314348
Anyone want to make it?
>>
>>36314373
Well, Ursula summons storms on occasion. Would that count?
>>
>>36314397
That would fall under "Effects that lead to death." She can do it for the express purpose of causing death, but that's technically not what the spell is for.
>>

You messed up a little with the traits: a beast character automatically gets all his racial traits (except when he is asked to choose, in the case of canines you have to choose between Domesticated or Wild) but can only take one non-racial trait.

Basic formatting on the K/L/Rs is up, it's mildly functional now.

I'd recommend grabbing another trait. You only have two, and since you get base human ancestry that's 2 of your choice + 1 racial from Snake.
>>
>>36314927
Rundown: Qasi was born in one of the many peasant-filled slums of Yzmopolis. Exposed to crime and mutagenic fumes from an early age, it wasn't long until he became a serpent-tongued con man and thief in more ways than one. Eventually he was forced to leave the city in order to escape from the Kronk Klones (easily outwitted, but once they saw him he was chased out) and so left to seek fortune and adventure, and maybe some ill-gotten riches while he's at it.
>>
>>36314927
You're missing 1 Trait and 1 Power. Other than that, looks good.
>>
>>36314959
Oh, right. I thought it was just two INCLUDING the racial trait.
Wait. Did he just steal my wallet?: +2 to sleight of hand rolls when stealing things.
>>36314985
Could've sworn 1d4chan said one power.
Pierce the Truth: Grant your allies a +5 to overcome fear and a +5 to dispel illusions.

Also, can we make Disguise Kits a thing? I was thinking that maybe when I'm going around among humans not familiar with Chimerae, rather than wearing a hood or a mask and looking all suspicious I just use makeup to make my scales look like human skin and say it's scars caused by a disease, while wearing lenses to cover up my eyes. Just need to not fully open my mouth when I speak so they don't see the tongue, and we're fine. Possibly put a wrapping around my face and cover my nose, claim it's a war wound instead of saying I look like Voldemort.
>>
>>36315555
Equipment:
Heli-raptor: Velociraptor-sized helicopter. Reduces travel time to 1/4, more if you can save a lot of distance by going as the bird flies. Fuel, however, is a problem.....not to mention the shoddy construction.
Masterwork but heavy tool box: +3 to Mechanics, but good luck lugging it around with less than 10 Robustness

Physical Description:
Fairly average looking for his species; tan, brown and black feathers, big nasty claws and teeth, hungry eyes, the works.

Rundown:
Stolen from his nest as an egg by a young hunter seeking to emulate the legendary McLeach, "Nasty Little Beasty" was raised first as a hunting falcon, then as a hunting dog when it was found he couldn't fly. As intelligent as he could be nasty, he soon deduced that he was neither falcon nor dog, but some sort of lizard, like that Joanna that McLeach always kept around...but he still had feathers and walked sort of like a bird and could hunt in a pack as well as any dog. He was never bothered by this; he simply accepted that he was some sort of lizard-bird-dog. But never felt right among the other hunting animals, and wished to be among his own kind. He was also curious about exactly where he came from.
Neither the hunter nor the other hunting animals provided any answers, preferring to mock or kick him, so set about his own solution. It took quite some time, but eventually, he managed to scrap his own little aircraft together, and he flew away from that nest of bullies, the only family he had ever known. But being reunited with his true kin would be worth it!
Unfortunately, he soon concluded that not only did he have no idea where he was going, but he didn't even have the fuel to get there. Time for an emergency landing....

Now where in France is he going to find himself some fuel?

It depends on your limit to equipment; you can get equipment totalling a +5 bonus to your skills, so if you wanted a +3 disguise kit you'd have +2 left over to spend on other equipment.
>>
>>36315644
Does that include weaponry and armour?

>>
>>36315726
What about weapons with disadvantages, like Crossbows? Does taking a whole round to reload detract from their cost?
>>
>>36315885

The disadvantage is the counterbalance to the +3 to Ranged, so I'd say no
>>
>>36315917
They get a huge +3 to Ranged, so no.
>>
>>36315943
I obviously meant to link to >>36315885
Crossbows don't even have a Robustness requirement, so the loading time is there to balance them.
>>
>>36315917
Wait, so why are one-handed weapons only +1? No negative modifiers on those.
>>
You should go through and enforce the item costs on the char sheets that have been submitted
>>
>>36316000
Because they only give you a +1.
>>
>>36316000
Because they only give +1 Melee, unless they're a well-crafted weapon in which case they cost +2 for their +2 bonus.
>>
>>36316000

Because that's just it, it's a small bonus. You can even use shields with them. It's the vanilla bonus

Two handed weapons give a bigger bonus, +2, but you can't use a shield.

The crossbow is more potent, cue the +3, but then it starts giving you an actual counterpoint.
>>
>>36316000
You pay for the bonus you get.
>>
>>36316002
Well, I'll see what I can do. I've got adventures to plan and crunch to balance, and my guess is that people will want another playtest next week, so I have to prep for that too.
>>
>>36316043
>>36316046

Does a +1 one-handed weapon wielded with two hands yield a +2?
>>
>>36315943
>>36316000
Would throwing knives be a +1 or +2?
>>36316054
So shouldn't every weapon just cost +1, if the negative modifiers are there to cancel them out?
>>
>>36315885
>>36316000
All one handed and two handed weapons work the same, except certain particular weapons with special rules, like crossbows and greatswords.
>>36316105
+1: you throw them with one hand, so they are one handed weapons.
>>
>>36316105

Uh, no, not necessarily. The negative parts aren't there to cancel the bonus out, they are there to BALANCE them. Cancelling out the bonus would be silly
>>
>>36316105
No, because moving from +0 to +1 is not as big as moving from +2 to +3. Getting such a high bonus needs a penalty of some kind just to keep the cost equal to the bonus.
>>
>>36316153
>>36316162
Oh, okay then. I'll just replace the crossbow with throwing knives.
>>
>>36316162
>moving from +0 to +1 is not as big as moving from +2 to +3.
Yes, this: a +3 that can go to +4 if the crossbow is of great quality is HUGE. We have the loading time just to keep them balanced, but they don't cancel the bonus.
>>
>>36316088
Don't think so, unless it's well-crafted. So, well-made longswords would give +2 bonuses and still be able to be carried with shields, you'd just need to spend ALL your starting equipment on armor+weapons+shields.
>>
Gonna start a new thread, since threadstarter seems to be asleep.

>>
>>36316088
