You are the PRODUCER, a former soldier hired to manage a group of teenage girls on their rise to stardom, assuming they don't get killed in the process!

You had feared the worst when you realized that you had to bring Cole, Julie, and Melissa on board a passenger jet for the first time. You weren't sure what would happen packing them into a tightly confined tin can thousands of feet in the air. Maybe they'd freak out. Maybe they'd just make fools of themselves. Hell, Cole might accidentally unleash and EMP blast and send the whole damn plane plummeting to earth. You tried to mitigate the damage, of course, by booking first class seats so you'd all be put in a more spacious and private area of the plane. Of course, first class wasn't cheap, but at least you were flying on the company dime, and it had enough liquid assets to absorb the costs.

Morgan, though, was apparently used to flying, so you weren't worried about her too much.

But in the end, your concerns were for naught. You forgot that with the constant practices, the girls would catch any time to get some sleep. They were dozing off before the plane even got into the air. That left things oddly quiet and uneventful.

Well, you guess you could always make a call out. Maybe to Jenner or one of the other girls with their own Thanksgiving plans to see what they were up to.

>>
>>36339932
You pick up the built in phone next to your seat. One of the perks of first class, and dial in Jenner's number. You hope the time zone difference is too much, wherever she is.

"Hello?" Jenner's voice speaks up in a curious but suspicious tone. Of course, her caller ID wouldn't recognize the plane's number.

"Jenner, it's me, the Producer." You say. "Just calling in to check up on you."

"How sweet of you." Jenner says flatly. She tries to sound neutral, but you're pretty sure she's happy you called.

"So, is the safe and locked up?" You ask.

"That's right. I kicked everybody out and locked the entire building down, as per your orders." Jenner says. "Nobody works on this weekend, no exceptions, right?"

"Damn right." You nod. "Did Himawari give you any trouble."

"Of course she did. I handled it, though."

"Oh? How."

"I. Handled. It." Jenner said in the 'don't ask' tone.

"All right, all right." You chuckle. "So what are you up to, then? My folks really would have loved to see you."

"Sorry, maybe next year." Jenner sighs. "My grandmother hasn't been doing since my brother died, and this Thanksgiving might be her last..."

"I understand. Don't sweat it." You say. "And the others?"

"Well, Lillith is flying out to California to see Belle. Vahlen apparently can't get time off from Umbrella since she already used up her vacation days, but she sends her regards. Rochelle, Rin, Sparky, Himawari, Falynn, and Niko are all safely with their own families."

(cont)
>>
>>36340724

"I'm a bit worried about Niko, though. She and her parents weren't on the best of terms, last time I saw."

"They really aren't." Jenner affirms. "But I doubt they can or are willing to do much Niko's a pretty public face now, so I don't think they'll do anything too drastic. Plus, they actually took the time to fly to the States, so it can't be all bad."

"I hope." You sigh. "Anyways, I'll see you after the weekend, all right?"

"Right. Take care." Jenner says before hanging up.

Well, you just had to hope things would turn out okay. Sure, you could use Harbinger to check up on them, but you'd rather use that only in an emergency.

"Trouble at home?" You hear Morgan's voice and turn to see that she's awake now, though just barely. She yawns and stretches out her arms.

"Nah, not really." You shrug. "Just getting some updates, that's all."

Now that you think about it, unlike the Tomb girls, Morgan had family, yet she opted to come along with you. You sort of wonder why.

"So Morgan, why are you tagging along with us? Don't you have your family?" You ask.

"This Thanksgiving you speak of is an American holiday." Morgan points out. "We Russians don't traditionally celebrate it."

"Well, yeah, but it's still a good opportunity to go back home."

"Well..." Morgan frowns. "I haven't been entirely truthful to you."

"About what?" You raise an eyebrow.

"My family is currently in the middle of a schism." Morgan sighs. "As you know, Russia is not the easiest place to live in. Half of my family doesn't agree with the current government, and the other half wants to remain loyal. It's led to... tensions."

"Tensions big enough that one member in particular has to be sent to the US for her own safety?" You raise an eyebrow.

Morgan nods wordlessly.

"So that story you gave to me before when you first signed up was a lie?"

"And are you sure now?"

"Yes, I do believe you're trustworthy." Morgan nods.

"Good, then what else aren't you telling me?" You ask, a bit more sternly. You could tell that even if she was telling the truth, she was strategically leaving key details out, as if she was hoping you wouldn't notice.

"Well..." Morgan bites her lip. "What would you do if I told you that I was next in line to inherit leadership over the family?"

You pause at this revelation.

"Are you serious?"

"Why would I lie about something like that?" Morgan sighs. "It's one thing to take up a mantle of responsibility, but it's an entirely different thing when you're literally born into it."

"I see." You nod, a grim look on your face.

"My father is currently neutral about the whole affair, and it's mostly his influence that prevents the family from outright crumbling." Morgan frowns. "But everybody expects ME to make the choice which path the family will take."

"And have you picked a side?"

"No." Morgan shakes her head. "Because I know no matter which side I pick, I'll lose. The family will destroy itself and I'll be left with nothing."

"Are you even trying to find an answer?" You ask.

"...no." Morgan admits. "I've been having so much fun just... not worrying about that while I was here with you and the others."

"That's not an easy question to answer. You're too young to have all that responsibility shoved onto you. I can see why you would just want to leave them all behind to rot, but... I think you should enjoy your time while you can. Use your experiences here to shape the person you'll be when you have to make that kind of decision. You could postpone it, or drop it in a sibling's lap, but.... family is family."

"Is there anyone there you WANT to save from the ... collapse that's going to happen? Because I think they had the right idea. If we can't send you back for your own safety, maybe we could bring them to you."

"... in small doses. I don't want to get family arguements all over our offices. I don't think it would be left standing afterwards, from what you've said.... but there's got to be a way to start mending bridges, or get a feeling for what's going over there."

"I don't think it's fair for them to shove all that responsibility on you." You sigh. "But still, you can't change the fact that the responsibility is still there. I think you should really be considering what you should do. Not now, of course, but further down the line. I hope that your experiences with can help you come to a decision."

"Thanks, Producer." Morgan smiles. "I'll remember that."

The rest of the flight is rather uneventful, though you learn that airline food is one of the few things the Tomb girls WON'T eat, which, given their background, is rather telling of the quality of airline meals.

After landing, you lead Morgan and a trio of still very sleepy girls to a rented SUV. Your folks didn't live in the city proper, but in a smaller town on the outskirts. It was still fairly urban, but not as packed or rushed as the city proper. However, as you get the SUV on the highway, the girls' drowsiness begins to wear off and they start becoming more active, which meant that started asking questions. Lots of them.

"Soooooo, Producer!" Julie chimes. "What's your family like?"

"Yeah, I'm really curious." Melissa nods.

Actually, this is a pretty straight allegory to The Vory - the crime organization that was pretty anti-government, and came it a head/schism during WW2, since shit going on broke The Thieves Code - but it would actually be better to help the government a little instead of to fuck it, hence all this disagreement

"You can mingle with the boys, but don't get TOO friendly with them, you hear?" You say with a warning tone.

"Okay..." All four girls say, with Julie and Melissa looking particularly deflated.

"Right, right. Well, you might not even have time to hang out with the boys. I'm pretty sure the girls will know who you all are." You say. "Actually, I'm a bit more worried about them than the boys, in some respects."

"Fangirls?" Cole frowns.

"Fangirls." You nod.

"Can I electrocute them?"

"No, Cole. No electricity at any point ever. If you have a problem you find me, got it?"

"Go it..." Cole grumbles. "The one chance I can get at some fun..."

"There will be plenty of fun things to do!" You say. "Most of the kids are pretty athletic."

"Right, right."

Finally, you pull up to your parents' house. Or at least, the front gate of it.

"WHOAAAAAAAAAAAA." All the girls press their face against the windows to get a better look. "IT'S HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE."

"It has to be, to fit all our relatives." You laugh.

"So your parents are loaded? Why are you even working?" Julie asks.

"Well, actually, we all chipped in to get our parents this house." You explain.

"Mansion." Morgan corrects.

"Fine. Mansion." You sigh. "Anyways, it looks like... we're the first ones here."

"That's because Jenner didn't beat you there this time." Julie snickers.

"Quiet, Julie."

You punch in the keycode for the gate and drive up the very, VERY long driveway up to the front door the house. Mansion. However, the moment all four girls get out of the SUV, you see a blur of movement and suddenly all your girls are wrapped up in the arms of the most fearsome beast you've ever known.

"OOOOOOOOH, SON, YOU NEVER TOLD ME YOU HAD GRANDCHILDREN!" Mom squeals as she easily picks up all four girls in an iron bear hug.

Your first instinct is to dissuade Mom of the belief that the girls were in fact, your children, but the opportunity to seriously mess with them was too good to resist.

"Yeah, sorry, Mom. It just sorta slipped my mind." You chuckle.

"WHAT?!?" All four girls wail in surprise at this apparent betrayal.

"Ooooooooh, they're all so adorable!" Mom coos as she hugs them even harder.

"Honey, please, it's obvious they aren't his." Dad grunts as he comes out of the door. "None of them even resemble him."

"Really?" Mom blinks and takes a look at the girls. "I DON'T CARE THEY"RE SO CUUUUUUTE!"

"Please, dear, put them down before you suffocate the poor things." Dad sighs and turns to you. "Looks like you've been busy, son. They from that idol company of yours?"

"That's right, Dad." You nod.

"You know, when i first heard about this 'entertainment company' you were working in, I thought you started up some prostitution ring or something." Dad shakes his head as you gives you a hug. "I'm glad I was wrong."

"Um, thanks?" You return the hug.

At this point, Mom has finally let go of the girls.

"Ooooh, you three certainly look like you've seen your share of rough play!" Mom says happily as she pinches each and every one of their cheeks. "I think you'll fit right in with the rest of us! Oh, and such a dashing young man, too! Is he a boyfriend of one of you?"

Oh, poor Morgan. You can see her about to protest it, too.

"But yeah, can we keep this between each other? No point in getting Mom to fuss over it."

"Yeah, I won't mention it to anyone." Dad nods. "Still, that means they're a hardy lot. Think they can beat Nelson's boys?"

Nelson was one of your cousins. His family was all Marines and loved to remind everybody of that fact. They were traditionally the physically toughest.

"I think it'd be pretty even." You say. "I mean, sure, Nelson's boys have got their Marine training and traditions, but Morgan's from a military family as well, and the other girls grew up in one of the toughest environments in existence, so they've picked up skills you'd never get elsewhere. All in all, I think it'd be an even race."

"And there's something else." Dad notes.

"Well, you remember the Captain? She trained them personally for a while."

"Ah, that would certainly put things in their favor." Dad chuckles. "Well, I'll be rooting for your girls. God forbid Nelson's boys win another football game. They've been insufferable this entire year."

"I'm not surprised." You sigh. "How are Lacy and Kevin doing?"

"Lacy's doing fine. She's expecting another girl this year."

"ANOTHER?" You blink. "That makes... seven, right?"

"Yep." Dad nods. "Kevin's just got back from another overseas trip. The boy just can't stop traveling."

Lacy's family was largely pilots and engineers, so they were all pretty brainy, and quite a number of them were in the Air Force. Kevin was a Navy man through and through, and it showed, with most of his family being sailors of one kind or another.

"So, are you ever going to be tying the knot anytime soon?" Dad jabs you lightly in the ribs. "You said you've hooked up with a nice girl, didn't you? Lord knows, the Army is gonna need some more representation here."

"I'm gonna go check on Mom and the girls." You say.

"Sure thing, I'll hold down the fort here, then." Dad nods.

You head into the hou- mansion - and you can immediately hear a commotion coming from...

oh no...

The kitchen.

"You mean to tell me you all full grown girls and none of you have ANY idea how to cook?!" Mom looks at the four girls, bewildered.

All four of your girls shift around nervously. You also notice that Morgan was now dressed in a frilly gothic lolita style dress. Jeez, Mom had such an odd taste in fashion when she was young...

"Well, uh, we never had much reason to." Cole shrugged. "Hell, the concept of gas stoves is a completely new thing to me."

"Totally blew our minds." Melissa nods.

"You make it sound like you were born in a third world country!" Mom tuts.

"Well, uh, we sorta did." Julie answers.

"Not me. It was jut never a priority for me." Morgan says.

"Oh you poor things!" Mom goes into pity mode once again. "Well, now's a good time as any to start!"

"Really, Mom? You're going to teach them NOW?" You finally speak up. "By the way, nice dress, Morgan. You look really cute in it."

And Morgan goes beet red again, much to the amusement of the other girls, though get a hint of a jealous glare from Cole. You make a silent note of this.

"Well, what other time is there, sweetie?" Mom smiles. "I think I can get it done, trust me!"

OH MAN. Chef mode go. I knew i was staying up for a reason.

Stuffing. (most traditions i know make more than can fit inside the bird, and bake it seperately sot here's enough to go around)

basting the turkey.

Cranberry sauce from scratch is pretty easy - follow recipe, and don't let it boil over

Salad. Cutting garnish and stuff is easy. Dressing is moderately complex if you make it from scratch, but easy if you ahve someone show you how hte first time.

Fish. Its almost as popular around here as a side dish as turkey is.

Potatoes/sweet potatoes is easy - watch the pot so it poils, and poke them until you notice they're done.

Supplementary info from chefman:

For many people, of a magnitude such as p-san's family, you got a few options when it comes to food:

Make enough of every dish for EVERYONE (fuck that many turkeys), or diversify and spread out so people can get stuffed and enjoy other things (potluck style, have families bring side dishes, extra courses, a desert or something. Someone wiht a large oven can do another turkey, etc).

So really, there'll be a lot of easy/trivial kitchen tasks to handle. Heating things up in the oven, etc.

Also, making soups is super easy, since you start with veggies, add liquid, don't burn it, etc.

"Just take it slow, Mom. Basic stuff." You chide. "The girls got all the time in the world to pick this up."

"Fine, fine." Mom sighs. "How about cookies? We're going to need a LOT, and I certainly can't do it all on my own. How about it, girls?"

"What kind of cookies are we talking about?" Cole asks.

"Girl, you we can make any cookie you damn well want!" Mom puffs up with pride. "Just name it and we'll make it."

Oh no, Mom, now you've done it. You can already see the Tomb girls' eyes gleaming as they think of what they want.

"SUGAR COOOOOOOKIES!" They all chime.

Dear god, they'll be bouncing off the walls by the end of the day.

"All right, then!" Mom claps her hands and then rolls up her sleeves. "Let's make some cookies!"

You honestly can't recall ever seeing your girls any happier. Morgan is not quite as enthusiastic, but she goes with the flow. How can any girl resist sugar cookies?

Meanwhile, you can hear the door opening and lots of loud voices. Seems like the rest of the party as arrived.

You decide to leave the girls under Mom's supervision. She was adept enough in the kitchen to make sure the girls wouldn't inadvertently wreck it. Instead, you head over to the entrance hall to see who's come.

"NELSON YOU MOTHERFUCKER." You bellow as you punch your cousin in the shoulder. "How the fuck have you been?!"

"Kicking ass, like always!" Nelson laughs. "How about, you, POG?"

"I thought we agreed not to use that nickname anymore." You scowl.

"Sorry, habits are hard to break!" Nelson laughs. "What you gonna do about it, Army?"

"Beat your ass senseless!" You shout.

"Hey hey hey, you guys gonna get in a brawl and you didn't invite me?" A well built man with a swimmers' physique walks in.

"KEVIN!" You and Nelson both try to dive tackle him, but he deftly sidesteps.

"Too slow. Gotta do better than that!" He chortles."

"How the fuck did you get here so fast?" You ask. "Last I checked, there wasn't any place to park a boat."

"Ha ha, fuck you too, POG." Kevin grins. "You realize I DO know how to drive, right?"

"Yeah, but you never leave that damn houseboat of yours!" Nelson grabs Kevin in a headlock.

"And of course the grounponders show they've got no tact or sense of personal space." A slim, foxy woman walks in through the door.

"Hello, Lacy." You nod at your cousin. "How come you're here so late? Your latest money sink break down again?"

"I swear, your branch makes ONE trillion dollar plane project and your stupid ass cousins never let you forget it." Lacy shakes her head. "Besides, not like you groundpounders can get anywhere without the Air Force."

"Now children, behave." Dad grunts. "I suppose you have all your relatives squared away?"

"Yep, they're already moving to the guest rooms." Nelson nods. Kevin and Lacy nod as well.

"Excellent!" Dad nods. "And, as you may know, my son here brought a few girls from his office to be with us today. Make sure you treat them like any other member of the family, all right?"

"We will." Your cousins affirm.

As Dad waddles off, your cousins then turn to you with conspiratorial looks.

"So what's this about me hearing you're running an idol company now?" Nelson grins. "Seems like a far cry from the Army."

"Yeah, I figured you'd get some sort of security gig or something." Kevin adds in.

"It IS a rather unusual career path." Lacy nods.

"Man, my girls can't stop talking about your idols." Lacy shakes her head. You know a few of them are even thinking of becoming idols themselves? Completely willing to throw away an acceptance to the Air Force Academy just to sing and dance!"

"Who knows. Maybe they'll like it better." You shrug. "But that's just my opinion."

"Whatever." Lacy sighs.

"Really now?" You're actually a bit surprised people outside the US have heard of your girls.

"Yep. Saw them selling posters and bootleg merchandise."
