Hey Op, I had a few questions.

Do the orc gods accept reverence and give favors to non-orcs? For example, could a dwarven smith give respect to Zul'orok Zhar and receive a minor blessing? Or could a human woman ask Y'zagya Zoka to make sure the birth of her child goes smoothly and expect a reasonable chance of her listening? Granted, there would have to be somewhat strange circumstances for a non-orc to worship orc gods, but is it theoretically possible?

How does Y'zagya Zoka feel about orc women getting knocked up by non-orc men? Is that just another expression of orcish fertility, and thus pleasing to her? Or does an orc woman offering their womb to a non-orc anger her?

Assuming an orc woman starts having children at age fourteen, and gives birth twice a year (assuming also that there is a one month waiting period between pregnancies), she can expect to have four to eight children per year.
At this rate, by the time her children have children and make her a grandmother at around age 28, she could have anywhere around 56 to 112 children.
Assuming she breeds non stop at this rate until she hit menopause at 60, she could have anywhere around 184 to 368 children.

You consider a nighttime raid to put yourself at the advantage, but with how twitchy they are, that may just end in a fight. You have the numbers and steel weapons to back up your words. You stride down the outcropping, leading your pack towards the camp. One of the Rockbrutes spots you coming, calling to the rest. You spot their human slaves for the first time, being pushed into a tent and out of the way. They look as small, far weaker than an orc, with pale skin and dark hair. Strange that a race like that had the strength to push your people into the Wastes.

The Rockbrutes form up, weapons ready. One stands at the front, looking like the chieftain. He's younger than you'd expected, you'd imagined another old man like Zo'ruz, but this one is perhaps only four or five years your senior. He is scarred and weathered, towering over his clanmates, stone spear held in the easy grip of an experienced warrior. Two of the females stand with the warriors, the other two sent off to keep an eye on the slaves.

“Name your clan and intentions, outsider, and make it good. I'm in no mood for games.” calls the Rockbrute chieftain as you reach the edge of the camp.

If a non-orc is considered worthy, and praying for something that strengthens the orcish people, then the gods might pay attention, although it would be considered very strange.

As for Y'zagya Zoka's feelings on orc women and non-orc men. The answer is: is it happening for the good of the orcish people to secure their dominance? If an orcish woman surrenders herself to a non-orc out of weakness, allowing herself to be dominated or to turn from her people, Y'zagya Zoka will not be pleased. An orcish woman capturing a skilled non-orcish warrior, pinning him down and forcing him to fill her with strong children on the other hand is a-okay.

“Rockbrute chieftain, I am Ur'shal of the Stonetusk Clan. We have come to take the remnants of your clan into our own,” you roar.

The Rockbrute chieftain raises an eyebrow, “Stonetusks growing a pair, never thought I'd see the day. Does Zo'ruz know you're here, Stonetusk?”

“Zo'ruz is dead. I am chieftain now.”

You walk towards the Rockbrutes, your clanmates alongside you.

“You have two choices, Rockbrute, you and your clan may join us, swearing yourself to the Stonetusk clan and to me, and we will go into the mountains together to hunt the witches who have broken your clan. Or you can face me and my warriors, and we will take your women and slaves and leave your bodies for the scavengers.”

The Rockbrute chieftain snarls, striding forwards to meet you until you stand a few paces apart, locking eyes. “You think you can succeed where our best warriors failed, Stonetusk? My own shaman went into the mountains to kill those witches and never returned.”

“Would you rather stay here and die a coward's death, Rockbrute?” you growl, muscles straining as the two of you stare each other down.

You feel the blood pounding in your ears, the taste of impending bloodshed on your tongue, but the Rockbrute chieftain sighs, shoulders slumping.

“No, Chieftain, I would not. I would like nothing more than to go into the mountains and put an end to this. However, I have a condition. There are those among our clan who cannot fight, one of our women is pregnant, another wounded. There are also the slaves, and my children. If we can leave a few warriors here to watch over them, me and my people will follow you.”

You consider his words.

You look around at the camp, you don't remember seeing any children on your way in.

“Very well, Rockbrute, we will leave some of your warriors here and some of mine,” you nod, “gather those who cannot join us and we will make ready.”

The Rockbrute chieftain snorts, shaking his head. “My children don't move so well, only thing that stopped them disappearing in the night like all the others,” he says, gesturing for you to follow as he heads over to a nearby tent.

“I am Koz'rak, former chieftain of the Rockbrute Clan for five years. A Stonetusk now, I suppose,” he shrugs, lifting the tent flap.

You peer inside, seeing a collection of off-white oval shapes gathered up between blankets and furs. Eggs?

“My children. Those witches lured away their mother just a few days ago while I slept. If she still lives, I want the harpy back. I know nothing of caring for eggs,” Koz'rak frowns.

“If I didn't have to protect them, I already would have lead what was left of the clan into the mountains.”

You nod, heading back outside where the rest have been gathered. You see the two other orc women, one leaning on a clanmate for support, her left leg badly mangled, the other orc woman heavy with litter.

You see the three human slaves up close now too, which has most of your clanmates staring. The male is old and weak, eyes downcast, you doubt he's good for much more than cleaning anymore. The two females are younger, one looking like she has just become a woman, the other starting to show the first lines of middle age. They are quite different from orc women, but pleasing to look at all the same, simple loincloths barely covering their pale bodies.

Zo'rok's face falls into a frown as he snorts. “I'd been looking forward to seeing those witches and ogres too.”

You nod. “I would not normally ask you to miss a good fight, but there is no-one else I trust more to watch over the camp than you.”

“Fine, fine, I'll do it, but you owe me, Ur. I don't want to miss out on the spoils and slaves just because I'm stuck here out of the action,” Zo'rok sighs, holding up his hands.

He glances over at the human slaves. “Maybe if I got to keep one of them. One of the women, I've no use for an old man.”

Guys remember. We need to focus on the witchs. doesn't mater how many of their slaves we kill. They don't really care. They may as well just be meat puppets while under their control.
But we may have to have some caution with the harpy I guess.

You shake your head, you don't feel good about disappointing your old friend, but you are chieftain now, and you have a lot to think about.

“Not yet, Zo'rok. Something about this doesn't feel right to me. I want you to watch them closely.”

Zo'rok gives a dramatic sigh and shrug, but his face turns to a smirk. “You're killing me, Ur, but fine, I'll watch them. Rather watch them moan, but I'll make do. Maybe if you find more humans up in the mountains you could even give me two.”

You clap Zo'rok on the shoulder, returning to the rest of your clanmates.

“We leave now, before the witches have a chance to work more magic against us. Koz'rak, choose three of yours to stay behind, Zo'rok pick two of ours.”

A short while later, the camp guards have been chosen, Koz'rak leaving the two combat-capable women and one of his men behind, it seems he's not eager to lead the few females he has left into danger.

You head out towards the mountains, Koz'rak and his scouts taking the lead.

“I have an idea where the witches are, never could pin down exactly where they worked their magic, but we followed a few of our bewitched clanmates far enough to know how to go part of the way.

You nod, picking your way through the increasingly uneven ground. Koz'rak's scouts are obviously more comfortable here than you and yours, who grew up in the flatter lands of the wastes.

The mountains are deathly quiet as the sun sinks beneath the horizon, the silence broken with the occasional screech of some nighttime predator. You have been walking for hours before Koz'rak stops.

“This is as far as we ever followed. Too many ogres and other things in these parts.” he whispers, eying the slopes.

Koz'rak keeps going, eyes to the hard ground, looking for a trail to pick up. After a few minutes he grins, holding up a scrap of cloth snagged on mountain thorns.

Koz'rak stays focused on the trail, picking up the pace in anticipation of the fight to come. You keep your eyes up, scanning the rocky ground, but this land is unfamiliar to you, as are its dangers. As you pick your way over a low rise, you hear a grunt.

You look up to see a hulking figure sat on a rock staring back at you, almost indistinguishable from the stone beneath its feet. It towers over the largest orcs in your group even sitting, a half-eaten goat clutched in one gnarled hand. It chews open mouthed as it watches you, drool and mangled flesh hanging from a maw full of sharp, crooked teeth.

It picks itself up, tossing the goat aside, slapping its long gangly arms on the rocky ground, snarling.

“Mountain Troll, of all the bad fucking luck,” growls Koz'rak, readying his spear as your group forms up.

The Troll continues to posture, snarling and slamming its palms against the stone. Stomping its feet and spitting. Koz'rak and the former Rockbrutes act quickly, starting to fan out, circling the beast. You and your clanmates know less of trolls however, and stay close.

The Troll's beady eyes focus on your group, giving a roar as it charges forwards. It hits your clanmates like a force of nature, scattering them as it lashes out with its massive arms. You try to find a good opportunity to strike a blow, but the attack is too frenzied, too unpredictable, and you are forced into the defensive. You see Or'kaz swatted aside, bouncing and rolling under the force of the blow, dazed but still alive. Another orc is less lucky, catching the full force of the creature's knuckles across its skull, pulping bone and brain matter, killing him instantly.

“Don't let it focus, keep it confused,” Koz'rak yells at you, as some of the former Rockbrutes start to pelt the troll with slingstones and javelins, the Troll snarling and flailing wildly at the barrage.

Koz'rak and his former clan continue to pelt the creature from afar as it stomps around. Every time it gets too close to one of the orcs, the orc flees as his clanmates redouble their efforts from another direction, leading the Troll on a chase.

With your clanmates out of immediate danger, you are free to strike at the beast. With its back turned, you charge, axe at the ready. The troll rounds on you quicker than expected, locking eyes with you as you swing your axe.

Its tough hide catches a glancing blow as it raises an arm to swat you aside, your enchanted greataxe cutting a furrow through the flesh but failing to do any serious damage. Thrown off balance, you are struck across the ribs by the Troll's fist, knocking you off your feet gasping for breath.

You struggle to stand, gasping for breath as the Troll looms over you, your clanmates rush to your aid but the creature keeps them at bay, lashing out at any who get too close.

It is Koz'rak who saves you as the Troll raises its massive foot to crush you, driving his spear into the creature's heel, knocking it off balance, the hulking beast crashing to the ground next to you.

The rest of the orcs waste no time swarming over it, hacking it apart as its roars give way to pitiful howls and whimpers.

Koz'rak extends a hand to you, helping you to your feet as the Troll finally stops struggling.

“Do not make me regret following you, chieftain,” he whispers in your ear, stepping back and going to rejoin his fellow former Rockbrutes.

You clench a fist in silent rage, touching your ribs gingerly. Not broken, but bruised, certainly. Some of your clanmates are no better, Or'kaz nursing a broken nose, many others bruised and bloodied.

We March on

This is no time to be wallowing in defeat. You pick up your axe and call together your clanmates, though you notice the former Rockbrutes are slower to follow your orders.

“We press on,” you state, Koz'rak once again scouting the way as your group strikes out.

You navigate the mountains with no more unpleasant surprises, a full moon breaking through the clouds and shining a pale light across the stony ground.

“There, that must be it,” Koz'rak says, pointing to a light in the distance.

You nod, following him as he leads you up a mountain path to a high ledge overlooking a flat area before a looming cave mouth. A great bonfire burns in its center, surrounded by orcs and humans, and what you imagine must be ogres. They are hulking things, ten feet tall and each unique in their hideousness. Scaly patches, warty flesh, bony growths, tufts of wiry hair and sickly tumors mar their pallid skin. Limbs are twisted and misshapen, some little more than withered useless stumps. Despite that, their strength is obvious, bulging muscles clear beneath their malformed flesh.

Despite the great number down there, several more than you and your group, they are quiet. They stand around the fire hollow-eyed and dazed, all staring up to the figures at the cave mouth.

You follow their gaze, a large stone altar stained black with dried blood has been carved into the rock. Three figures circle it, presiding over the gathering. They look nothing like the other ogres, still as tall and powerful as their misshapen kin, their skin is pale and unmarred. Their bodies are perfectly formed, lust boiling up within you as your gaze sweeps over them, and you find it hard to look away. They stand near nude in the cold mountain air, bodies decorated with jewellery of bone and feather which do little to cover their wide hips and ample bosoms. Two stand to the sides of the altar, one with a mane of pale blonde hair, almost white, the other with a braid of fiery red tied bound in place with a pin of bone. The third stands behind the altar, long black hair flowing over her shoulders. A great black dagger clutched in one hand, leaning on a staff topped with clattering bones and plumes of feathers.

One of the humans walks slowly up to the altar, eyes blank, a placid smile spread across his features.

“What now, chieftain?” Koz'rak asks.

I want you to take the remaining orcs and hit their slaves when we get close. Distract them until we can strike.”

Or'kaz frowns as Juk'ruk goes pale. “This is suicide, if you want to kill us just-”

You cut him off with a growl. “If I wanted to kill you, coward, I would have done it when I took Zo'ruz's head. When we take the witches we will make them release their slaves, you will not have to fight them for long.”

“So we're taking them alive?” Koz'rak asks.

“If we can, but I would rather see them dead than us. Same goes for the slaves, don't kill them unless you have to, but don't hesitate if you do.”

The groups split up, heading to their positions, you watch as the ritual gets underway. The human climbs onto the altar, still smiling like a fool, eyes glazed. The witches start to chant in a guttural foreign tongue, but you find yourself shiver as the words carress you, fighting off the urge to stop and listen. You feel a hum in the air, like a storm about to break, as their chanting reaches fever pitch. The black haired witch raises her dagger high in the air. If you wanted to strike while they were distracted, you have no better time.

For a moment she holds your gaze, defiance in her eyes. Then your axe draws a bead of blood from her neck.

“Stop, all of you, throw down your weapons,” she cries. The slaves not even hesitating in the face of your warriors, weapons clattering to the ground.

You spare a glance to the third group, seeing two of them dead and broken on the ground, overwhelmed by the slaves.

“Now, release the orcs.”

She curls her lip in rage, but complies, a second later you see the enslaved Rockbrute orcs come to their senses, your clanmates and Koz'rak's explaining to them what has happened as they look around in confusion.

“What now, orc, know that Ylugri the Mountain King watches over us, your petty gods will not protect you if harm should come to us,” the black haired witch sneers, eyes defiant and haughty in spite of her position.

It is piled high with trinkets and ritual baubles. Piles of furs most likely made up their beds. In the corner you see a collection of cages made of wood and bone. Most of them lie open and empty, save for one, which holds a shivering figure, wings pulled tight over its body.

“There she is,” Koz'rak grins, rushing forward and wrenching open the door to the cage.

He pulls the creature within out. She looks vaguely human, but with great feathery wings of black and brown in place of arms, though it looks like a fair number have been plucked, reminding you of the feathery jewellery the witches wore. Her feet end in long, flexible toes with wicked claws at their tips. Deep black eyes stare up at Koz'rak as he lifts her up, huddling up against him.

“It seems the witches kept her alive, though who knows how much longer she would have lasted in these conditions,” he says, letting the frail harpy cling to his chest.

“I owe you much, Ur'shal. You returned my clanmates to me, and my greatest posession,” he pets the harpy's head.

“Though I suppose they are your clanmates now, chieftain,” he smirks, bowing his head, “I look forward to seeing the future you will bring to our people.”

You have your other orcs gather up anything in the cave that looks useful, you can check through it all later. For now you'd like to get off this damned mountain. You leave the cave, calling together your now far larger group.

“We make for the Rockbrute camp, gather up the humans and ogres, they will be our slaves now.”

Your clanmates busy themselves with ropes, binding the humans and ogres, before you order the witches to release them from their spell.

Fortunately, large as your group is, none of the mountain predators make an attempt to attack. The sun is starting to rise as you reach the edge of the mountains, eyes burning as you dream of good warm furs to sleep on.

Zo'rok spots you coming, heading out to greet you with some of the more curious orcs.

“Well would you look at that,” he cackles, circling your collection of slaves, earning few panicked noises and growls as he pokes and prods at humans and ogres alike.

“Ur, you are the best chieftain an orc could wish for,” Zo'rok cackles, circling the witches as they shift uncomfortably under his gaze. He spends some time pacing around them, though you suspect he's already made up his mind and is just enjoying making them uncomfortable.

“I think this one, she's got a nice ass,” he grins, grabbing a handful of the blond witch's rear as she tries to pull away.

“A warning, Zo'rok, we still don't know what they are capable of. Until we are certain they are loyal, no taking her off on your own.”

Zo'rok laughs. “That's fine, Ur, I don't mind an audience, I'm sure she doesn't either,” he grins, one hand still clamped on her ass as he reaches another round to squeeze one of her heavy breasts, the ogress swearing at him, struggling to escape his grip, which only makes Zo'rok grope harder.

Leaving your clanmate to his fun, you address the rest of the clan.

“We will rest, then we head for the Stonetusk camp, where we can rejoin our clanmates. There, we celebrate our victory, and our new slaves!”

The orcs cheer as you head for a tent pointed out to you by the former rockbrutes.

You could probably afford to take one of the humans, you are the chieftain, and it is expected of you to enjoy your victories. The rest you will have to divide carefully if you want to avoid any resentment. Perhaps you should make some the property of the whole clan, and give out others to individuals who prove themselves. As you look over the huddled human slaves, you spot one, not in her prime but still young and beautiful enough, her wide hips and ample breasts looking well suited to carrying healthy children. She is comforting one of the younger women, an arm over her shoulder, long dark hair tied back in a loose ponytail.

You wave over one of your clanmates, pointing her out, telling him to set her aside for you.

With that, you make your way into the tent, asleep as soon as you hit the bedroll.

You walk the stony ground, the heat, the scalding ash, the blood and steel, the passion of being, the thunder of battle, it pulses in your veins. You breathe deep of the dry, scorching air.
