Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

But damn, its fun.

You are Zachary Zelnacki, newly formed Epic. Two months ago, super-powered people rose from the wea-I mean normal. Yeah, normal. You have the ability to control vectors, allowing you to change the speed and direction of any solid object within 15 yards(13 meters). You are also inhumanly tough, able to shrug off small caliber weapons. Finally, and perhaps most important, you are able to absorb powers from dead Epics, if you touch them within ten minutes of death.

You witnessed an Epic fight in the local Middle school, and absorbed the power of steel manipulation and regeneration. You then uploaded the video of the battle and bought a Glock. Finally, you check around town for anything of interest. You see a poster about an Epic in Sacramento, read about a trio of Epics that took over New York City, and learned about LA.

You went on the road, driving to New York. In Colorado, a blockade forces you to pull over. After killing two men, the militia is able to handcuff you. Put into a large execution machine, open to the public. Who were there in large numbers, unluckily for them. Fearing for your your life, your powers fly out of control. Forming a metal shell around yourself, a rampage ensues. Nearly 20% of the town's population later, you reach your car. You fall into a fitful sleep, full of flashing lights, pleas for mercy, spraying blood, and a feeling of overpowering strength.
1/?
>>
You loot the town, breaking into a large house with an RV out front. Within the house, you eat breakfast and meet Brandon. The eight year old Epic joins you, bringing his pets along for the ride. It turns out that his parents were preppers, with bug out bags, a collection of weaponry, and an RV tricked out for going innawoods. The two(four counting the pets) of you drive cross-country, eventually being funneled into Nashville.

You escape the KKK controlled city, killing three Epics with the help of Brandon and the RV's heavy weaponry. You absorb two powers, super strength and invulnerability. Outfitted with new powers, you continue to New York. A checkpoint in the Brooklyn tunnel has you sent to a hotel to wait for an officer in the Epic army. You and Brandon order a feast of room service, jumpstarting the American economy.

A general in NYC's Epic army recruits you and your "brother" to the corps. Free schooling, room and board, a great 401K, free healthcare, and two weeks paid vacation are included in your benefits package. Brandon will be going to school with other Epic children, then work in the power plant for a few hours a day. You go to the Academy, sitting in the middle of the lecture hall. You team up with three other Epics for a training exercise. Working with them, you capture two flags from other Epics' teams. You and Sydney rush to the art museum, where Sydney captures a filipino Epic with fire powers. You finish the game, winning against Andrew's team. You sit with Nathan, Sydney, and Andrew at lunch. After classes, you go clubbing with your friends and eight year old "brother".

TOTAL XP: 750

>Base Powers

Power Stealing(II): The ability to absorb the last power a dead Epic used. Can hold four powers at once, absorbed powers have sixty percent strength. Must touch dead Epic within twelve minutes of their death.

Invulnerability(II): Rifle shots(.223, .30, 5.56) along with buckshot near useless against you. Bruises, but most won't enter the body. Pistols might as well be a guy throwing pebbles at you. Watch out of heavier rounds, though.

Vector manipulation(I): You are able to change the vector of objects, making a piece of gravel punch through steel. Blows that you are expecting can be diverted. A range of twenty yards.

>Stolen Powers

Steel Manipulation(I): The ability to move, bend, liquify, and shape various types of steel. Must use existing steel, range of fifty yards.

Regeneration(I): You now heal at a much higher rate, scrapes scabbing over in a minute, deep wounds heal in a day.

Super Strength(I): You are above and beyond an Olympic athlete. Lift half a ton, squat half a ton, bench seven hundred pounds. All this, and you never look any bigger than a normal Epic
>>
XP costs for reference

Power Stealing(III): 1200. Lets you copy five powers at once, at 70% power at absorption(you have regen&steel at 60% power).
Invulnerability(III): 1100. Get shot by a HMG and keep coming. Even large rifle rounds and shotgun slugs just knock the wind out of you. Explosives and tanks are a problem still.
Regeneration(II): 400 or absorb another regen power. Makes wounds scab over in a minute and deeper wounds take a few hours to be almost healed. Don't tear your stitches, though, in a day you are fine. Must keep brain intact
Steel Manipulation(II): 400 or absorb another metal manipulation power. Lets you control more steel from a farther range. Allows for high limited iron manipulation, but iron control is much weaker
Vector Control(II): 600. Upgrades max speed(50mph to 60mph). Heavier things and items lightly rooted in the ground can be moved. WIth lots of practice, can allow for a double jump.
Super Strength(II): 600. Doubles your power. Lift or squat a ton, bench half a ton. When lifting things, they won't break from having the weight all on two hands.

You've just flown up the cargo ship's hull, forming steel armor around you. Nathan's dog led you there, following the scent trail from the two asian girls who stole Brandon's cells. You knocked out a pair of guards using steel tentacles, then land on the deck over their unconscious bodies. You flex your hand, and the firing pins in the rifles recede into the walls of the barrel. The guards pull their triggers in unison, not willing to take a chance with you.

*CLICK*

"Now that thats done, you'll be taking me and my friends to your employers," you say, the mask of steel making your voice metallic and inhuman. As you speak, Nathan appears over the side of the ship in your peripheral vision, his blacken glass dragonfly wings buzzing. Brandon follow, a hardlight floor keeping Fluffy and him aloft.

"You! Drop the rifle and come over there." The man you pointed at drops his gun, the black plastic and steel hanging on it's strap. He scurries over, fearful. The rest of the men release their guns, slipping them over their shoulders and putting them on the deck. You morph the steel around the guns, locking them into the deck.

The man, a tall black guy with a shining bald head, walks in front of your group to a door in the large building near the end. He looks back at you, noticing the flanged mace heads covering your hands, then types in a six digit combo into the keypad. The door opens with the sound of a breaking seal, the thick door swinging outwards on a large piston.

You duck into the hallway, painted a garish red on the lower half and white for the upper part. The whole of the ship appears as steel to your internal vision, rooms picked out in grey. The black man leads you up the control tower, boots ringing against the steel steps. He opens one of the doors, a bulwark of thick steel with a small glass porthole.

Once he opens the door, he leads you farther up the tower. It opens into a large control deck, flashing lights and a multitude of buttons on control panels. Behind a large fiberglass desk, a burly man with a red beard is typing in a tablet.

"One of your whores stole something from my brother. Return it to me, or I shall take it myself." You say, words reverberating in your metal mask.
"One of my whores, eh? Trust me good Epic, we have nothing that was not bought with gold. If you wish to buy something, I hope you have some hidden inside your little shell." The thief says, looking around at you at your companions. "I also deal in other things, if you wish to barter."

You form a spike of steel from his desk, raising it to his neck. "Where do you think you are, little man? When Epics ask for something, people like you give it to people like me." The metal spike moves forward, a drop of blood staining the needle. "Now, you will be handing me that tablet." The bearded man slowly raises his hands, then lifts up the tablet. Brandon grabs hold of it with his light, moving it to Nathan's hands.

He starts flipping through it, skimming a mention of blood. "Got something. Says one of the containers has refrigeration set at 20 degrees. Thats what you keep blood at to keep it viable. Number 2TG73C06." he looks over at the bleeding man. "Where is it?"

"Bottom of the stack! Fore and port." The drops of blood are dripping faster from the wound, staining his white dress shirt.

"Good. Thank you for your help," You force the needle up, cutting a line of blood from his mouth to his ear. You make it deep enough to scar, cutting his cheek so that he can whistle through it.

You leave the bleeding man to clutch at his ruined face, a sheet of blood staining his beard red. More red. Whatever. He has blood all over the side of his face. The man that lead you to the bridge rushes to his aid, pushing a jacket to the wound. You call back to the two men; "I would suggest getting off the ship. You are about to have a large leakage problem."

Nathan seems to have a perfect map of the ship in his mind, leading you down the stairs to the bowels of the ship. He pushes open the doors, opening into a large vault with stacks of cargo containers. He passes by them, his finger trailing along the metal, leaving a trail of rusted metal. You walk through the ship's hold, three football fields long, then stop with Nathan at the base of one of the stacks.

He forces both his hands against the metal, a white slime coating them, and moves them in circles until a doorway is painted in white on the green container. A stead hiss comes out of the slime, bubbles of gas popping on it's surface. The metal and plastic melts away, with two more applications of the slime. Once a hole is formed, he runs his hands along the edges. A yellow slime coats the edges, expanding and halting the white foam's hissing.

You step into the refrigerated container, metal armor keeping the cold at bay. Nathan sprouts a short coat of hair, looking like a giant chinchilla. Inside the container, is a sterile white lab. A red light flashes on the wall, attached to a thermometer. In a glass case, you see vials of blood. Three tentacles shoot from your arm, crashing into the glasses. You swing it back and forth, shattering all of the glass bottles.

>>
Nathan steps up, then holds up both of his hands. From his wrists, two nozzles form. Streams of white liquid squirt out of them, hosing down the bloody shards of glass. It starts steaming, smoke pooling on the ceiling.

You exit the container, sensing the end of the ship's hull. Nathan seems to sense your intention, replacing his fur with gills. You pull all of the steel in your range into the hold. Sea water floods in, sweeping into the hold. You lift yourself up, above the tide. Brandon comes as well, while Nathan sits against a container.

You fly out of the ship, moving down it's length and revealing more of the ship to the cold sea. It starts going under, a crowd of men waiting on the dock. Your friends fly up to you, Brandon walking up a series of blue hardlight plates. Nathan rests on the surface of the water, floating easily.

You morph the shape of your armor, droplets falling away as you thin away the armor. A thin layer of steel covers your limbs, smooth as possible. Around your torso, the front is smooth and keeled to move through the water easily. The back functions as a large air tank, connected to your streamlined head. With your bulging back, you should have enough air to dive for half an hour. Two curved tubes go to your mouth, bulging out into a small muzzle.

You dive into the water, ribbed air tank holding your air for the time at the seabed. With your eyes protected by a pair of sunglasses, the water is a dark cave. You form the steel into flippers, propelling you next to one of the close by containers. With the doors sealed, and little weight inside, the steel container floats a hundred feet below the surface. Sensing something inside, you lie against the steel wall. Carefully moving in, you keep your armor connected to the wall. After ten seconds, you drop into the container.

The boxes inside are jumbled up from being moved from it's spot in the cargo hold. You form a small knife on your hand, slicing through the cardboard and tape. Removing the styrofoam...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hStMepUPYVk

A large weapon is inside the box, a strange green box attached to the stock like a bull-pup rifle. The barrel has a series of rings on it, connected by wire. Beneath the gun, a row of the green boxes are set in styrofoam.

You package the weapon back into it's box, then coat it in steel from your armor. You coat yourself in the steel again, then pass through the wall. You pull the steel container up with you, straining to hold it on the surface. Nathan climbs onto it, growing his wings again.

Nathan flies up to you and Brandon, his wings flaring. You lift the crate up, only able to lift it ten feet above the waves. Brandon lands on it, holding on to the ladder. You pull it up above the dock, maneuvering around the other ships and cranes. Nathan flies up next to you, then shouts into your ear.

"I got a idea where to keep that. Its a club I've been working on." He flies forward, guiding you through the air. You fly across the water, heading to Staten island. You touch down with Nathan at the foot of the statue, placing the crate down on the flagstones. A bright patch of copper is on the crotch area, shining with the setting sun.

"Lets get that crate unloaded. Whats in there anyway?" Nathan asks, his wings folding up and disappearing into his back.
"Some weapons, never seen this type before," You say, removing one of the doors from the crate. The boxes stay inside, brown cardboard dry even after your entrance.

The three of you start unloading the cargo, stacking up the boxes three high. Once all of them are out of the container, you form it into a large board to transport the boxes. After loading six of the boxes onto the board, you stand in the middle of the boxes. Brandon climbs on, and Nathan grows wings again. He takes off, and you lift the boxes to follow.

Where the hell is he going? Looks like the statue's crown...

He steps into the window, his wings folding up as he lands. He waves you close, and starts unloading the boxes into the room.

"Wow, so I take it you showed this to me when I was drunk before I worked my inebriated magic? This is pretty awesome Nathan."
"Yeah, I mentioned how banging it is, and then you took it from there. Thats why I'm not letting you near Everclear when you're here. Copper's expensive now that Arizona got it's mines taken over."
"So how'd you afford this? The pay is good here, but not that good."
"Made a few good investments, mainly in aircraft and airships."
"Why do I feel like you made them before megalodons become well known."
"Thats a trade secret. But, I'd suggest buying stock in airships. They're rising quickly. Both the value and the ships."

He walks over to the bar, then places two shot glasses out for you the two of you. He pours some normal vodka, then throws it back with you. Brandon gets a Coke. You then walk over to the boxes, taking one of his spoons and forming an box cutter on your pointer finger. Slicing through the tape, you pull out the styrofoam and lift up one of the guns. Three barrels are set up in a rotating assembly, blue lights glowing on the bottom, and a large box magazine that has "ECR" printed on it. Nathan whistles at the sight of it, and grabbing it when you hand it to him.

"Feels a bit light. Only about five pounds." The large gun should weigh at least twenty pounds, without the magazine.

"Good job getting them then. Tell you what. We can keep them here, then sell them later. Andrew knows a guy, he works with some normie making stuff like this.
"So... Can we fire it now?"
"Yeah, lets fire a high powered weapon that we salvaged from a sinking cargo ship." Nathan says sarcastically. "One shot can't hurt though, right? Come on."

Nathan leads you and Brandon down a flight of stairs, then up another flight in a narrow tube. He opens the door, letting cold night air flood the stairs. You walk out onto the circular walkway, and watch as Nathan sets the gun on the ground. You pick it up, and flip off the safety. You flip it to the closest setting, which has three bullets in a row.

*BANG*
*BANG*

The gun fires off three rounds, tracer fire streaking into the Atlantic. Theres no kickback, your strength keeping it in place. Nathan steps up behind you, and you hand him the gun. He fires it , then hands it off to Brandon. He fires it, the barrels moving a few inches up with each shot. You reach over to flip the safety on, then lift it from his hands. The three Epics troop down the arm tunnel, then you place the weapon in the box.

You can tell there is steel in the barrels, and other parts that you can't identify.

Over the month, you spend much of the mock-battles in a group with Nathan, Sydney, and Andrew. You pick up your suits from the tailor's, two supersuits and seven pairs of casual clothing. The super suits are gun metal grey spandex/steel, with one inch black rings on the wrists and neck. On the waist is a small belt of steel disks, overlapping like a fish scales.

You start learning piano, playing scales every day. You focus on tactics, learning to lead a group of normies and Epics. With Andrew, you go to a large gun range and fire the large machine gun with gravitronics. You fuck Sydney.

You download the documents and print them out to study. Looking over the list of Epics, you note down some of the more impressive Epic's powers:
>Weather Control
>Regeneration
>Infinite Ammo
>Gifting
>Electricity Control
>Healing
>Regeneration
>Replication
>Intangibility
>Cyrokinesis
>Illusions

Sydney and Andrew walk up to you at the printer, laughing about something related to a Epic named the Pink Pinkness.
"Hey Zach, what you got there?" Andrew asks, looking over your shoulder at the list.
"Hmm? Oh, a list of Epics at the island. Wanted to know if the was anything to look out for."
"Come on, theres a tradition for before one of these battles. Gotta go to to the catacombs for the night. Huge party, everyone gets drunk. Maybe some fights if Nathan can get horses. You in?" Sydney asks you, leaning in for a kiss.

You beg off hanging out at the moment, promising Sydney and Andrew to meet at your new home. Two weeks ago, the powers that be decided to fix you up with a new house. Given three million dollars, and a week of investing with Nathan, you are able to purchase five floors in the Sears tower. After furnishing it, and knocking a few holes in the ceilings for stairs and fireman poles, you came out with ten thousand extra for anything you want.

You park in the tower's Epic only parking structure, numbers 47 through 52. You climb out of the smartcar(seriously, you can buy a new one), then take the elevator to the 49th floor. A large number of the residences don't use the elevator, preferring to fly up to their personal entrances. Maybe you should have one of those installed. You ready your gear, one of the electron compressed HMGs you salvaged from the ship, a block of steel the size of a dumpster(you'll only take a small part. Getting replacements up here are a bitch), a backpack full of energy bars and candy with a camelback inserted, and a wallet that contains three different fake IDs.

Brandon comes home at five thirty, coming from his shift at the power plant. You sit at the dining and kitchen floor, number 51, where a few dozen menus for restaurants are sitting. You order up with your phone, getting a large amount that will be delivered hot within an hour.
>Want to say anything to Brandon?

>>
After dinner, you clean up(throwing the dishes into a trash chute). You dress in your best supersuit, putting on the belt and polished steel armbands. A gold line traces up the chest, splitting in two at the waist and the neck to form a second ring beneath the black ones on your neck and wrists. You call out a goodbye to Brandon, who is on the 49th floor. You take the elevator down, then run to the Academy. Your friends greet you, dressed in their suits as well.

Sydney is in a light blue, form fitting suit, with silvery threads on the chest in the form of a gemstone with the tip reaching her naval. Nathan's suit is tan and green, two slits in the back for his wings. Andrew is dressed in white and a blue so light it looks close to white, with silver on his neck and running down his shoulders to his wrists.

You walk down the steps to the Catacombs, a network of tunnels and caverns. Nathan leads your group to the party, a pulsating mass of collage age people in form fitting clothes. Theres drinks lined up on one of the walls, a shelf blasted out of the concrete by an Epic. A circle of drunken people are in the corner, spinning a bottle.

Hey Brandon apparently the Academy is going to be heading out to the warfront soon. So i'll probably be in the field for a few days. The guys want to hit a party in the catacombs tonight. So i'll be back late. Anyways while i'm gone you have the place to yourself so no wild parties. Failing that don't break anything, and clean up before I get back. Normal rules apply. I'll miss ya bro.

"Failing that don't break anything, and clean up before I get back. Normal rules apply. I'll miss ya bro."
"See you soon then. Do you know when you'll be back?"
"Maybe Wednesday, give or take a day. I'll call if something happens."
He starts mumbling to himself; "That gives us two days, call up Ben and Emma..."
"I can hear you Brandon." Brandon looks up at you, his eyes widening a bit.

>At the Party

Your group migrates across the floor, bouncing to match the rhythm of the music. At the side of the room, a seres of kegs are being chilled by an Epic, whose able to make powerstores of his ice powers. Place them in a liquid, and they instantly chill it to 32 degrees. Everyone pours themselves one, and Nathan pulls a bee from his hair while empowering it. It grows into a fist-sized bundle of fluff, with a stinger sticking out.

"Eh just gimme a regular dose, don't want to over do it and get the urge to craft another steel dong." You lean over to Sydney, whispering in her ear. "We'll save that one for when we get back."

Nathan and Sydney both get a shot of it into the back of their hands, then Sydney passes the fluffball over to you.
"Wait, give me a a minute to change it. I've never seen another Epic with a regen and invulnerability." Nathan says. The ball of fluff shifts in your hand, the stinger growing longer and thick as a straw. It rears up it's abdomen, then thrusts it down into your palm.

Nathan takes his bug back, shrinking it back to it's normal fluffball. He holds it over one of the open bottles, releasing a stream of clear venom, giggling profusely. You join in, as the bug becomes a squirt gun and Andrew becomes dark blue.

You dance onto the floor, Sydney attached at the hip. Andrew and Nathan bounce away, to spike a few of the other drinks. The other Epics form into a a shifting blob of color, with their limbs blurring in the air.

You dance off into the crowd, a few inches above the norm. As Sydney is grinding against you, you lock eyes with another Epic. He's about the same height as you, maybe an inch taller. As per the Epic code of honor, chapter 4, paragraph 5, line 27-28, if you lock eyes with a fellow Epic on a dance floor, you must have a dance off. You break off of Sydney, the crowd moving out of your way instinctively.

You move face to face with the Epic, staring him straight in the eyes. He's a Mediterranean guy, dressed in a black and green suit. The crowd pulls back, forming a circle with you in the center. The music stops, replaced by a silence that seems impossible with so many people. The two of you jockey for for a dominant position, finding a way to stare down at the other Epic.

You split off, both of you backing to opposite sides of the circle. The music starts up again, a fast techno beat with heavy bass, and you come out of your corner.

You vector up, completing a front flip as you fall. The ground shatters as you land, stone chips flying up. You slowly rise from your crouch, facing off with the Epic. You sway from the neck like a snake, then moonwalk back to your spot.

The rival Epic comes out, hands glowing with swirling green energy. The energy slides up his body, until the room is lit up with his light. He jumps forward, landing in a handstand. He drops it, balancing on his head. He pushes with his arms, spinning on the concrete floor. He flips up, landing on his feet, then backs away while brushing off his shoulders.

>>
You dive forward, rolling and bouncing up at the Epic's feet. As you jump up, you stick your arms out. You shove the Epic back five feet, sending him stumbling into the crowd.

You strut back, the rival Epic struggling to get out of the crowd. He pushes a few people in his corner aside, sending them bouncing into the rest of the crowd.

He bulls forward into the ring, hands glowing again. He tries to do the robot, his arm swinging in a circle. Then he sneezes. The crowd instantly goes cold, all of his built up energy destroyed.

You slide into the circle, then kick the Epic in the chest. He flies back to his corner, stumbling hard. The steel beneath you rises up, forming a glob of mirrored metal. You draw it out into a large, long bubble, the moving metal distorting the images.

The steel whip circles you, a halo of reflected light. You drop it, a hoop of steel splashing on the ground as the bass drops. In the heavy blast of sound, you pull the metal up again to coat you in a living mirror.

The black and green Epic stumbles forward, his hands burning green. He fires a beam of green at you, the light refracting on your mirror. Green shafts of light shoot into the ceiling, lighting up the room. The crowd goes wild with that move, cheering loudly.

You glide out onto the ring, sliding on the steel covered floor. The metal shines in the strobe lights, reflecting the white light. You do:
1:20-4:30

The metal lets you move in ways normally impossible for humans. To finish, you fly into the air and flip to stick to the ceiling. Hanging upside down, you lean into the ceiling, going almost parallel to the roof. You use the steel to come back to your upright position, then curl into a ball as you fall.

You hit like a rock through a glass window, a dust cloud going up as you hit. You stand, mirror reflecting the lights. You moonwalk back to your corner, the metal dripping from you until you are free of the steel.

You stand, crossing your arms, as the armor reforms in front of you. It's nine feet tall, a a demonic figure with cloven hooves and curling rams horns. The DJ, Professor Messageboard, flips on Thriller, having read your mind.

You force the demon to dance, steel skin throwing back each strobe of the lights. As the music ends, demonic laughter filling the air, the towering giant throws back it's head laughing. Once the room is silent, the demon walks up to the Epic.

A gout of flame roars out of it's mouth, encasing the Epic in red fire. Th crowd surges backwards, as the metal demon pulls back it's head to send flame into the air. Spent, the demon collapses into itself, turning into a harmless puddle of steel.

You nod your thanks to the illusionary artist Samantha, who puts out the flames surrounding your rival.

The crowd rushes in, cheering for you. They all jostle you into a giant ball of flesh, lifting you off the ground with their combine force. Someone grabs your butt, but when you look down both Andrew and Sydney are close to it.

The crowd dies down after a bit, then goes back to their normal party duties of grinding and making poor decisions

You look over to the bar, where Nathan is once more spiking the drinks. Near him, a group of ten or so Epics are staring at their hands and occasionally using a flashy power. Whenever they do, a great roar of fear and delight comes from the group.

The spin the bottle group has reformed, a chattering circle of drunken people with superpowers. Great combo. At least two couples are making out in the circle, though if it's due to a dare or just boredom you can't tell.

A few couples are dancing on the ceiling, one of the Epics being Newton's Law. He's surrounded by a circle of anti-gravity, multiple people just floating in the field.
