"Wake up, Buddy."
Miranda is shaking you. Ugh, it's early. The sun hasn't even risen yet. "Go back to sleep, it's too early."
"Y-you're going to miss class!"
Oh, that's right. Today is the first day of classes. Let's see... today you've got Intro to Swordplay, Music Theory, and Wilderness Survival. You sit up in bed. It's time to get ready.
You put on a fresh pair of clothes and strap your longsword to your belt, and sling the mandolin around your back by its thin leather strap. Underneath the mandolin rests your backpack, which has the music theory book, a notebook, some pencils, and some picks in it as well as some bandages.
"Let's go to class, Buddy!" Miranda was already dressed by the time you woke up. It looks like her being a half-elf means she needs less sleep than you do.
"What are you taking today?"
"Swordplay with you, my healing class, and my charming class."
"Cool. Let's head over to the fencing stage, then."
Your classmates are mostly young men, but there are a few women, including your roommate and possible lover, Miranda. She has her hair tied back, showing hear slightly pointed ears to the world. One man is already in full protective gear. He has a strange weapon strapped to his waist, it looks to be made of some kind of wood.
"Hello, class," the man with the wooden sword says, "I am Professor Miyazaki, and I am your swordplay instructor. For many of you, this will be your first time using a weapon. Do not expect me to go easy on you."
He steps onto the fencing stage. "For our first lesson, we're going to learn about parrying a slicing attack and responding with a strike of our own. Can I have a volunteer?"

Do you volunteer, freshman?
>>
The Rules:
Generally, the most popular option suggested by the people of /tg/ will win for the action taken or words spoken. However, occasionally dice rolls may be used.

Please be respectful of your fellow players and the GM. Don't be that guy.

Pop culture references are allowed, but an over-abundance of them will likely result in a lackluster experience.

The dice rolls will use the AD&D method. If attacking, roll high. If rolling percentage or a skill, roll low. The majority of rolls will be made with d20.

Alright. For now we'll go with the other post.

>>36438984

"I'll do it," you say. Miranda looks over at you as you walk over and put on protective gear. Professor Miyazaki pulls his wooden sword out of his belt loop. It's a kind of sword you've never seen before.
"What's your name, student?"
"My name is Buddy Holly. I'm a freshman here."
"The same Buddy that beat the captain of the fencing team?"
"Yes, sir."
"Then I expect great things from you."
"Thank you, sir."
"Alright, come at me with a diagonal striking attack from your right."

You produce your longsword and hold it in both hands in a low stance, the blade pointing at the professor's face. It seems kind of unfair; the professor is only using a wooden weapon, and you're using live steel. You raise up your weapon and attack as he said.
Professor Miyazaki raises his arms slightly and your blade is deflected so that it barely misses him. He then quickly brings his arm down, the wooden sword going with them, and it smacks you on top of the head.
"Again!" Miyazaki yells.
>>
>>36439166

You pull your sword up and try again, slashing from the left to right this time. He sidesteps, parries your blade downward, and steps in, thrusting the wooden sword into your body.
"Again!" Miyazaki yells. You try again, and he moves his arms all the way to the side, smacking your arm with his wooden sword instead of hitting your sword. The force stings through your arm and you let go of your weapon, still holding it in the other arm. He follows it with a sideways swipe to the side of your neck. You cough and rub your neck.
"Class, there are four main targets while fighting: the arms, the body, the head and the neck. Depending on how you parry a strike, you can aim to attack any of these areas. That is today's lesson. I want you to work with a partner and have one person attack as Buddy did, while the other person parries and responds. Do twenty repetitions, then switch attacker and defender positions. Now pick a partner."

The only person you know in class is Miranda, but there are other people without partners, too. There are two men: one is tall and lanky with short orange hair, and the other is stocky with long brown hair and a goatee. There are also three women: Miranda, a tall blond girl, and a very muscular girl with black hair.

Who do you want to partner up with for practice?
>>
>>36439188
Miranda
>>
>>36439218
You walk over to Miranda as she's putting on her protective gear.
"Hey, do you want to be my partner?"
"S-sure."
Cue training montage music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4yqhCypYfE
You start off attacking Miranda. She's great with her rapier, and easily deflects your longsword. Along the way, you learn how to better grip the longsword so that her parries don't knock your sword so far away. Then you switch off.
Miranda seems hesitant to attack you, so you can easily parry her hits and respond. You start getting a fundamental understanding of parrying and responding, but with a more ferocious attacker you probably would have learned more.

Class ends and you both take off your protective gear and head off to your next classes. Healing for her, and Music Theory for you. Professor Roth, your friend, teaches that class.

"Welcome to class, students. I'm going to start us off with some basic sheet music reading. This note is middle C..." Professor Roth drones on about some stuff you already know.

You've got the book open in front of you. Do you want to read ahead, or stay with the lesson and take notes?
>>
>>36439355

>stay with the lesson and take notes
>>
>>36439377
You stay with the lesson and keep notes. You start to get a better understanding of different styles of writing sheet music beyond just the treble. This could come in handy while you're trying to get a band together.
Once the lesson ends, Professor Roth calls you over.
"Hey, Buddy. I know it's your lunchtime now, but I still want to make good on my promise to give you private lessons on that mandolin. Do you want to do that now or wait until after your classes are over?"
>>
>>36439456
Now
>>
>>36439515

"Yeah, we can do that now."
You pull the mandolin around your back and hold it, grabbing a pick from your backpack on the floor. It's the gemstone pick the professor gave to you.
"Ah, with that pick, too? You've got good taste. I think you'll notice it makes your playing a little better. But don't use it as a crutch."
The professor observes you playing some basic chords. He corrects the way you're holding the pick and shows you how to strum using your wrist instead of your arm. You notice the difference in tone and speed right away, and he tells you that you'll be able to play longer without a break if you do it that way. You keep playing and he shows you some chord progressions and how they work out in the folk songs you've been playing, and also shows you how to play it all in different keys without getting mixed up. He also shows you when it's a good idea to switch a major chord into a 7th chord on the fly, which makes your songs sound much more advanced despite the fact that it's an easy step.

You thank the professor before heading off to your Wilderness Survival class. This one's interesting. The professor is wearing leather armor and he has a long mustache. He's otherwise bald.
Roll 1d20.

Rolled 12 (1d20)

>>36439592
>>
>>36439611

The class goes well. You learn how to make a fire with some basic rocks you can find laying around almost anywhere, and you put them in your backpack. You also learn 5 different ways to tie a knot, and how to set up a tent in under 60 seconds. It all comes naturally to you. But you're feeling pretty tired now. After skipping breakfast and lunch, participating in two physically active classes and practicing the mandolin for an hour, you're damn hungry. It's about dinner time, too. Do you want to head to the feasting hall or skip it and go straight to your room? Or something else?
>>
>>36439667
Go to the feasting hall.
>>
>>36439708

You go to the feasting hall and grab yourself some food. Same as yesterday, turkey, cranberries, corn, stuffing, potatoes, gravy. You pour yourself a mug of mead this time and have a filling meal.

The night is young. Do you want to head to your room or do something else? You're still feeling kind of beat.
>>
>>36439733
Go to the tavern, get a beer or two, then go to bed.
>>
>>36439765

The feasting hall has barrels of ale. You also don't know of any other taverns in the area. You pour yourself some ale and finish it off, then head up to your dorm room.
When you get in the room, you see Miranda all dressed up in some fancy clothes. She must've changed since earlier today. She walks up to you and gives you a hug then looks up at you.
"H-hi."
"Hey. How was class?"
"Pretty good. I heard about this place on campus. It's kind of an underground scene. You wanna c-come with me?"

You're not feeling great, but there might be some cool music there or something. Plus, you wouldn't be woken up late at night when Miranda comes back into the room. Do you want to go with her?
>>
>>36439816
Sure, let's go meet the hipsters.
>>
>>36439816
Sure. Why not?
>>
>>36439827
>>36439836

"Yeah, I'll come with."
She grabs your hand and leads you out of the building. In comparison to her, you look like a mess, covered in dirt and grime. But you did make sure to bring your mandolin and your longsword with you, just in case. She's wearing a green dress that stops just above her knees. The green makes her own green eyes shine, even in the night. She has her hair down.
Miranda brings you to the School of Magic and the two of you walk to the back of the building. There's a stone which looks out of place. She knocks three times on it and the stone slides back.
"Password?" Sounds like a big guy behind there.
"Newt in the bottle."
The bricks suddenly disappear, as if they had never been there. No one is behind the open archway, but there's a staircase leading down. The two of you walk down there. The area becomes increasingly grimy. After some walking, you find yourselves in a dimly lit tavern.
"A girl in my charming class told me about this. It's not officially supported by the school, but they don't seem to be trying to shut it down or anything. M-maybe they don't know about it."

There's a band on stage playing music you've never heard before. The drumming is fast and there are three guitarists on stage playing some strange sounds along with a violin player.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpmOTGungnA

You walk with Miranda up to the bar and ask for two glasses of red wine. Two silver. The place is pricy, but I guess that comes with the exclusivity.

Miranda and you take a seat in the middle of the tavern. You see some guys smoking pipes in the corner and a few others playing cards, and about ten people crowded around one table. There are also some people dancing by the band, doing some strange dancing you haven't seen in any folk dancing or traditional dancing either. They're waving their arms and legs rapidly and seem to slide across the ground.
What do you want to do?
>>
>>36439961
Ask Miranda, "What kind of music is this? I've never heard anything like it."
>>
>>36439961
Do what >>36440058 said, and then go and see what's getting the crowd's attention at the one table.
>>
>>36440058

"What kind of music is this? I've never heard anything like it."
"I think it's called jass. It's so fast. It looks like their singer is coming on, too."
A strange looking man in ragged clothes steps up at the head of the stage. The guitar starts in really fast and the singer follows it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUQN44doG9I

You feel a tap on your shoulder. You turn around and see a guy in all black.
"Hey, this your first time in the 16th Note?"
"Yeah, what's up?"
"Come with me. Gotta show you two something killer."
He walks off to a doorway next to the bar and goes through. You look at Miranda.
"You w-wanna go with him, Buddy? I'll go with if you do."

Go with him.
>>
>>36440132
Follow him and take Miranda along.
>>
>>36440182
>>36440170

The two of you walk past the dancing crowd and go into the side room, shutting the door behind you. It's a small room with a table and four chairs. Both of you sit down, and the man in black is sitting across from you.
"This is gonna blow your mind, guys." He takes out a small vial from his jacket pocket. Inside there are a bunch of small, white circular things. "Everyone in the club's getting into this. Just came out of the alchemy school a few miles away. Just one of these, and you'll feel like you're in the seven heavens."

He takes three of the white things out and swallows one of them.

"No charge, guys. It's your first time around here and we all just want to have a good time."

Miranda takes it but doesn't put it in her mouth. "W-what is it?"

"Nothing that'll hurt you. Just a project a bunch of students have been working on. No hangover or anything, it's like being drunk with none of the side effects."

What do you do?
>>
>>36440245
"No thanks. We just came to hear the band. Come on Miranda." Take Miranda's hand and leave.
>>
>>36440283
"No thanks. We just came to hear the band."
You take Miranda's hand and head out, leaving the thing on the table. Miranda takes hers while you're talking to him; you don't see it.
"Your loss, man," the man in black says.
You and Miranda sit down at the table you had been at and resume drinking your wine and watching the show.
"Do you want to dance?" Miranda asks. The tips of her pointed ears look red. She's blushing.

"Yeah. Let's dance. You want any water or anything?"
"No time! The band's about to start playing a new song!"
The band starts playing another song and the two of you stand up.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxR9cJuFtuU
Miranda follows your lead. The two of you dance along with the song. Miranda seems to have this whole swinging thing down, but you need more practice.
Then, the band plays a slow song. She leans up against you and puts her ear against your chest. Her face warms your body. The two of you sway along with it.
After a few more fast paced songs, the band takes a break.
"Hey Buddy, do you wanna go back to the dorms and take a bath?" The two of you are both sweating after dancing with that upbeat music.
You estimate it's about 11 at night now. It might be a good idea. Or you could check out a few more things in the club.

"Yeah, just one second."
You go to check out the table with a bunch of people around it. They seem to be playing some sort of game. There's dice and a board with some game pieces on it. After a minute, you start to understand the game. The pieces are moved a number of spaces by the dice, and if they land on a space where another piece is on, more dice are rolled, sending the pieces back to a different point on the board. The goal seems to be reaching an ending square. You're too tired to play now, though it seems like there's a bit of money on the line in that game.

You and Miranda head back to the dorm. She seems to be stumbling. Maybe she danced too much? She only drank one glass of wine, and she can really hold her alcohol. Must be that half-elf heritage.

Miranda and you get to the bath area and disrobe, then enter the community bath. No one else is around. You really love the smell of lavender that the area has, it seems to energize you every time you get in the bath. You really don't feel so worn out anymore. Man, the music in that club was weird. You wonder if you can play anything like that on the mandolin. Miranda puts her hand on your thigh and gets close to you.
"H-hey, Buddy?"
"Yeah?"
"I've never been with a guy before. I mean, I've dated guys, but we never, uh, went all the way." She seems to be slurring her words. Maybe she had more to drink before you two went to the club.
"Oh? Why not?"
"I wasn't ready," she says, then slides up in the bath and straddles you. "But I think I am now." She puts her arms around you. Her breasts are pushing up against your chest.

What's your plan, bard in training?

Taking advantage of an intoxicated woman is not chivalrous. +1 evil bard point.

You put your arms around her waist and bring her to you. For a moment, there is some pain in her face. You take it slow. The bath has some blood floating in it. The two of you find a rhythm to follow and she seems to (loudly) enjoy it, probably waking up the entire floor.

It all lasts only around 13 minutes, but to the two of you it seems to go for much longer. With her breasts pressed against you, you feel your heartbeats in sync. After it's finished, she relaxes against you, and the two of you spend a long time in the bath.
Eventually you both get out, put your clothes on, and head back to your dorm room. You decide to stay in her bed and the two of you go to sleep.

------------------------

You wake up with Miranda holding onto you. It's early. Your classes today are Intro to Magic and Intro to Mandolin. You're not sure about Miranda's, but you know her first class today is the same as yours again. What do you want to do before classes start?

"Sure."
You start playing Whisky in the Jar, the song the two of you apparently won a competition with. She sings along with it. Her voice is amazing, beyond any other singer you've ever heard. Once you're done playing, she scoots off of the bed and kisses you on the cheek. "W-wanna go get breakfast?" She hooks her arm around yours.

You ask around the dorm and no one has seen her, so you strap your sword on and head to the 16th Note. When you get there, you see her at the bar.
"Hey Miranda, you didn't come to the dorm. It's midnight, we've got class tomorrow."
"Huh? Hi Buddy." She seems dazed. "When did you get here?"
"Just now. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fiiiine. Were you worrying about me?"
"Well, I was waiting for you and no one in the dorms had heard from you."
"It's okay~. Come on, have a drink with me."

What do you do, bard in training?
>>
>>36441922
She's clearly out of it. Take her back to the dorms.
>>
>>36441922
"Maybe one or two. Glad to see you're alright."

"You should come back to the dorms with me. It's late, we've both got class tomorrow."
"Okay Buddy~" She stands up and stumbles into your arms. You help her stand up properly and help her back to the dorm room. It's no easy feat; she's stumbling all over the place. When you get to the dorm room, you sit down on your bed and she hops onto your lap and lays you down.
"Everything is buzzy. Let's do it~" she essentially chirps.

Do you go for it, bard?
>>
>>36441985
No.
>>
>>36441985
Not this time.
>>
>>36441985
You still feel exploitative about last time. Decline as politely as you can.

"No, not this time."
"Don't you like me, Buddy?" She looks down at you.
"I do, but you seem out of it."
"I'm fiiiine. Really, don't worry."
"Not tonight, Miranda."
She frowns and lays on the bed, facing away from you. You get up and get into your nightclothes, then lay down next to her.
"Buddy?"
"Yeah?"
"You should move the beds together."
You sit up. "Yeah, that sounds like a good idea." You move to get the other bed and she grabs onto you.
"Not right now."
"Alright." You lie down again.

Anything to say?
>>
>>36442053
Not right now. Let her sleep it off.
>>
>>36442071
This. Might be good to get some sleep, too.
>>

She moves close to you and you put your arm around her. The two of you go to sleep.

Here's where I'm stopping tonight. Any feedback?

I like this quest. It's nice.
>>
>>36442118
The MC's name annoys me but other than that I like this quest. Do you have a QM twitter?
>>
>>36442164
I have a Twitter account I don't really use but I could send out when the quest is starting on there.
