At the moment of his death during a plane crash, a 29 yrs old chemical engineer and fellow fa/t g/uy wondered about how many little details his mind latched on to while trying to keep him alive.

Such as his favorite, lucky d20, flying off his pocket and bouncing around in the mayhem that surrounded him.

Well, he must have rolled a critical success in someone's reincanation tables, because the next thing he knew, he had been reborn in a world of sword and sorcery the likes of which he had always dreamt of.

Now aged 11, our MC, young Eldric Lightbringer, is already a 3rd year in Albion's Magic University, surrounded by loving family and the intellectual elite, already at the cutting edge of magically-powered technology, managing an important, thriving business across the northern continent's Coalition countries, and growing taller seemingly on a daily basis as his young body hurries up to catch up with the overwhelming attributes his otherworldly knowledge helped him achieve in a world ran by old RPG mechanics.

I just had a minor bolt of inspiration regarding Dawn and her personal mana drain.

Living beings create mana. Dungeons create monsters. The monsters themselves create mana also, and while in the dungeon they create mana normally.

Dungeons are also living creatures.

The monsters personal mana that is created in the dungeon environment is instead sucked by the dungeon itself.

So a dungeon consumes the mana produced by the creatures in it, while providing and environment where the monsters can create personal mana. If they leave, they die. The only way to let them leave is to kill the dungeon heart.

Thus we need to go to a dungeon heart with Okaba and Asmund, to investigate it a bit. It might help make progress in Dawn's condition.

>well, Stella's is full of snacks, and Zoe's is full of toys and souvenirs she treasures

Somehow I see an explosion of snacks, like a cornucopia or pinata if Stella turns off her slave job, and Zoe's to sudden produce a bunch of toys, like if santa's bag exploded in a room.

The count looks down at the crystal array's display and announces with a excited voice that, indeed, the generator is working, steadily and producing about 5 mana a minute.

"Does it look like it's overcharging, or burning out?" ~Asmund asks while continuing to monitor the display on the crystal array
"It looks steady" ~says Okaba~ "Amazing, really. This was really meant to just find the frequency before burning out"

The small cilinder holds a rockit plate in its middle, so that the plate with the magic circuits can float over it without being affected by anything else.

"Try turning it off" ~suggests Okaba
"How?" ~says Eldric~ "We didin't really thought of that"
"You two onelife special snowflakes empty the lab" ~says Asmund~ "Give me party, and I'll try and just lift the plate. Worst case scenario, I explode and need a few rounds to reform"
"I seriously doubt 5 mana a minute will be enough for that." ~says Okaba~ "At most, you may lose a finger. And we can't use regeneration spells on your longtoothed self"

>Support Asmund's idea and evacuate the lab while he tries to just lift the plate off. Just in case

Evacuate the Lab.

Then form a few quick earth walls just in case. maybe as a funnel to a chimney.

Too bad we can't use a golem with a core to just be a lab assistant.

Otherwise, just go ahead and move it out of the city and do the same thing.

>moving it outside of the city before trying to force it to stop

"Alright, you know what, I'm lifting the plate" ~says Eldric~ "I'm the one that put it there anyway"
"That is hardly a valid reason" ~says Okaba~ "Since it is our experiment"
"Are you not also an adventurer? can't we just teleport with it into a dungeon and do it there?" ~suggests Asmund
"I am not eager to see what happens when you place a mana generator inside of a mana generator" ~says Okaba
"Uhmm... now I really want to see that" ~says Asmund~ "But let's relocate beyond the city limits on this pa-"

While the count is talking, Eldric lifts the plate. He burns the skin of his fingertips, but then the plate stops.

"Ouch"
"That was much too reckless!" ~shouts Okaba as he reaches forth to take the plate from Eldric hands so he can cast healing on himself
"It's just 5 mana a minute, that sounds as dangerous as a triple A battery"
"What is that?" ~asks Asmund with some interest~ "Some artillery piece?"
"It's not that kind of battery"

Okaba makes a copy of the diagram on the carbon plate, and stores both away.

"We need to start working on a working prototype with an actual off switch." ~says Eldric after casting a 1st sphere healing spell on himself
"Oh, that reminds me. I've been meaning to ask you for a while now. How do you cast spells without chants?"
"Well, it's a matter of muscle memory, I think"

"Young Eldric believes chants are merely a mnemonic shortcut to channel mana through one's body" ~says Okaba
"Since I am looking at it work. I'd have to agree" ~Asmund says as he stretches an arm and tries to cast without talking~ "It is considerably difficult, but I can tell the mana is there without a chant."
"I think anyone could cast without a chant, but it must be hard to do for a mage of talent that has practiced it that way hundreds or thousands of times. You are trying to go against your own training right now"
"Uhmm. Perhaps the chant could at least be shortened a little?" ~the count keeps trying to do the usual spellcasting gestures as he talks
"One project at a time" ~says Okaba, walking over to the blackboard against the southern wall of the lab~ "Let's start working on a new generator model. One we can turn on and off"

They are all still discussing about this when Lyann and mom pick up Eldric from the lab.

"Mom, I was doing important work!" ~says Eldric, somewhat embarrased to be picked up by his mom
"I know, but I wanted to go home together." ~she greets Asmund and Okaba politely, and they return her greeting likewise.

Outside, Stella and Zoe are waiting for us while talking to a number of their admirers. They are popular with pretty much all the boys.

We shoo them off, while mom smiles seeing us taking care of them, then we all make our way back together.

Mom straightens out Zoe's jacket, and makes sure her hair is caught out of the way of her eyes as we start walking back

"You know, we could have taken a chariot"
"Not on a teacher's salary" ~says mom~ "And I enjoy walking home with everyone" ~she adds before we offer to pay for it

Stella seems to enjoy leaving footprints in the muddy road. Mom notices her looking at her shoes, and warns her before it goes beyond that.

"No taking your shoes off, young lady"
"B-but mom...!"
"You want to leave muddy footprints all over Ellie's clean floors again?"
"No, mom" ~she says, adorably lowering her ears like a chastized puppy

A few weeks after that, the new generator is running quietly. Seemingly working without any problems.

"So" ~says Asmund while sitting on a chair by his own desk and sipping some tea~ "What do we do with it, now? it is now real, it is working."
"Almost as important, where do we want it to work? can we trust the magocracy with it? I haven't see these mages do a single thing for the city they rule nor the people living on it" ~says Okaba

>>
>>36446111
>can we trust the magocracy with it?
hell no. we actually interacted with them and they appear to be completely amoral.

I say we don't trust any existing power with it.
Considering we are all future rulers of our respective nations, I say we wait until we are in power to use it.
And in fact, even then we should keep it as secret as possible unless necessary, since we want to avoid tipping off other powers and having them reinvent it.
Or unless we invent something that uses it in a way that both improves quality of life significantly and requires revealing the power source behind it.
>>
>>36446111
Sbastia-style enchantments use mana on the order of 1 per minute, right?

its also worth mentioning that "give it to my city and not yours" seem a bit selfish and unfair.
on the other hand, desmond does want to kill his father because his father is a monster.

okaba intends to do social reforms in his nation when he ascends to the throne. but that would be for some time yet and one should always be wary of naughty visirs (see mako).
We should actually talk to okaba more and learn more about him, his homeland, his family, and how he plans to ascend to power (is he planning a coup against his parents/siblings, or are his parents just going to abdicate at a certain time?)

>>36446285
I didn't suggest we leave, I said I don't want to give them a superweapon.

>>36446111

>Other

I am not too sure how, well morally upright most of the people in charge are. We can see how this goes, and much more can be done with mana compared to steam when the first steam engines came around.

We already have mana capacitors through crystals. We have mana generators now, and ways to use mana. No doubt that in a year or so if this got out, certain segments would end up using it for less then good reasons.

Truthfully I would want to talk it over with dad, mom and grandfather if possible. This is even more ground breaking then flying ships.

His army is made up of undead grunts. A single sword of promised victory will likely obliterate them all.
>>
>>36446322
And I find your naivetee tiresome and dangerous.
And it is not paranoia, we were explicitly told this by both okaba and desmond before.

Desmond's father is a monster and not only that, he has a MASSIVE army of undead and golems powered by a non mobile version of this. If the technology gets out, suddenly his army is mobile.

Furthermore, keep in mind that individual super golems can have insane stats, even outstripping scions.

"I have designs to evaporate the Black Spire, with father inside. The casualties will be hundreds of golems, thousands of undead warriors, about half a dozen politicians, and a few dozen bureaucrats. 2. I only argued for doing due diligence on them before we give it to them. not that they must be evil.
3. your side has people arguing giving it to MORE than just eopolis. the magocracy explicitly was mentioned.
4. eopolis doesn't need to be evil, they just need to be unable to keep it a secret. Giving it to them means giving it to a variety of unvetted people, it just takes one of them selling the secret to desmond's dad, or desmond's dad using vampire powers to charm it out of them.

>>
>>36446647
There is still no reason to try and channel the moon's mana. Using 10 7mp/min generators it would take 10 days to create a 1 million mp crystal. Does the necromancer ability cancel the rez countdown?
>>
>>36446827
actually, why even do it alone?
We could go in as a party. maybe start off by sabotaging his dad's power array.
also, why sneak in, he can be invited. he brings his friends and fellow royals over to meet his dad. and we just gang up and kill him.
All of us armed with:
1. angel rings
2. contingency resurrections for death timer being at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
3. obscenely large mana crystals

We could also have some super golems with us like mentioned by another poster.

Actually, we could probably combine it, start by vaporising tower, then gang up on him if/when he respawns.

>>36446826
> don't vampires auto resurrect once if they are in a party? he could be in a party with 5 people set up all over town.
We need to develop a way to detect someone's party members and track them down. then we need to simultanously assassinate his party members or to make them leave the party.

The energy discharge he's thinking about would be a end of the world event concentrated in a single place for several minutes. Even if he had a reraise, he would still be dead. We are talking about ridiculous amounts of mana here

>>A few dozen polititians losing their lives to overthrow the evil lord they were working for? I am sure I can live with that

In a lot of ways a decapitation strike has less deaths involved compared to a drawn out civil war. While some will be innocent, a good amount of them know what they are working with.

The biggest issue I have with it, is what happens if it does not work. There should be several backup plans involved. Because nothing is every simple.
>>
>>36446912
>That keeps undead, dead
so wait, vaporization overcomes the undead's ability to resurrect when having a party member?
How does vaporizing works? do you need a specific vaporize spell or just to deal sufficient damage to an opponent?
>>
>>36446912
>But the teleport is a valid concern, tho
Can teleports be blocked?

Also, idea. is it actually possible to put an enemy in stasis until released? like, a carbonite bath in star wars?
that might be more practical than killing him. since he is far less likely to have a contingency for that then he is for being killed.
And once he is trapped like that, his party members can be taken care of.

You can also exorcize an undead permanently if you hit it with enough [holy] damage, tho, which is what the moon mana would do

>>36446928
No, you need to hit them with [Holy]. Asmund is going to use the moon mana to power a [holy] blast. Its why Sword ofPromised Victory can exorcise undead. It deals holy type damage

>>
>>36446962
>No, you need to hit them with [Holy]. Asmund is going to use the moon mana to power a [holy] blast. Its why Sword ofPromised Victory can exorcise undead. It deals holy type damage
Could we develop a holy spell that only deals damage to undead? that would prevent the deaths of the politicians beurocrats... unless they are also undead.
actually, are the thousands of undead warriors sapient or are they shambling?

then again. he is probably wearing a ring of holy immunity or some such and that has to be vaporized first. so the moon plan is still the best idea for the opening salvo

>>36446973
that answers one question.
what about the teleport blocking and carbonite bath questions?
>>
>>36446962
>No, you need to hit them with [Holy]. Asmund is going to use the moon mana to power a [holy] blast. Its why Sword ofPromised Victory can exorcise undead. It deals holy type damage

Well yeah, but what if he has a personal holy damage immunity item. What if he decides to shield the tower and has a contigency teleport item.

Unless he has gotten so over confident he is not worried about it.
>>
ok wait... stat damage. can stats be damaged?
hit him with a dragonforced spell that deals no HP damage, only int and wis and cha damage.
Reducing him to a vegetable. alive, but vegetative. we can then strip him of magic gear and find a way to kill him permanently.

of course that assumes he doesn't have a way to outright nullify our spell.
>>
>>36447044
I'd assume he has grandpa-tier stats. His research almost guarantees he would figure out how stat stacking works.
>>
>>36447068
not enough to save him from a 6 or 7 digit MP blast of stat drain

The way I see it, we should combine all the plans. multiple layers of redundancy.

>Moon beam
>Anti teleport wards
>Carbonite bath
>Locate party member spell with teams to take them out too simultanously
>Stat drain
>Super golems with magic immunity

it might be overkill, but better safe than sorry.

>>36447000
>still think seeking killing and storing for war/crimes agents humanity/sentient life is the best plan.
I have no idea what you just said

>how does [holy] damage destroy the building? or is it undead too?
>along with along the bureaucrats ?
The same way fire damage can kill a human despite humans not having a vulnerability to fire. Or how it can evaporate water despite water being resistant to fire (enough fire still destroys it).
>>
>>36447141
The moon beam is 100% a bad idea. King said in an earlier thread the moon was a sleeping god. Using its mana like this is probably an apocalypse scenario.
>>
>>36446985
Well, it began when his family designed a mana collecting/supply network across the entire city, giving them access to huge amounts of mana, and control of all of the city basic services.

Then they tapped into that to have personal mana shields with hundreds of thousands of HP during the 1v1 duels for supremacy every 36 years.

At that point they had the political and monetary balls of the city in their hands, and when they basically hacked the duels, the last way in which they could be taken down, by tradition, was eliminated as well

>>36446988
>Does you require any tricks to be able to damage undead with healing spells?
no, but its range is not too long, IIRC
Also, most undead take 50% more damage from healing spells
And some spell tricks increase, considerably, how much damage undead take from holy/healing spells

>>36446988
>use a healing spell powered by crystals to hit his father with holy damage?
thats the idea. He wants to use a ridiculously strong healing spell straight in the heart of the city. A city of undead, mind you

Actually, I wonder if the human pencil pushers inside the necrodermis tower will simply find themselves standing on the ground while everyone and the building itself evaporates around them

>>36447000
>is there a way to set up an anti-teleport field? all around the city?
around buildings, yes... a whole city... I dont know. I want to say yes. I mean, it would seem like a good idea to prevent commando attacks. Maybe at least stack lots of them? well, Asmund was working on that. Remember he mentioned his array could be used to call down the mana blast OR create a shield
>>
>>36447166
ok, that is a good point.
1 million mp mana crystal dragonforce then?

... maybe we can find a way to tell someone's HP without being in the party with them and without triggering a "he cast a hostile spell at me" effect?
Asmond might be able to sneak a peak at his father with that.

or if we find his party members, maybe use asmonds vampire charm on them to get them to tell us his stats?
>>
>>36447217
We cannot be directly involved in this. That's a declaration of war. Asmund killing his dad is an internal affair, but the moment we enter the picture it's suddenly eopolis vs sbastia.
>>
>>36447000
building probably has an anti teleport field to prevent people coming in to attack, it probably can be hacked to preventing porting in both directions

>>36447216
>Then they tapped into that to have personal mana shields with hundreds of thousands of HP during the 1v1 duels for supremacy every 36 years.
could this be sabotaged in some way to just cut him off from it?
he would probably still have mana crystals on him but...
>>
>>36447216
>hundreds of thousands
Like it was said before, we can crank out 1million+ mp crystals in a very short time frame. Can't he just overwhelm his dad with those?
>>

>Declaration of war
no it isn't.
at most it would be an act of war, and asmond can just say "nope"

>We cannot be directly involved in this.
Who is going to know we were? I am not saying walk the streets yelling "I am eldrick lightbringer". We are talking about an assassination squad.
>>
>>36447216
what if we sabotage the supply network Asmunds father will send his most trusted people to fix it the people in his party kill them and asmund's father at the same time to coordinate this use the note books that allow us to talk over distance

the net work would be down and the army and golms would be useless and asmunds father weakened

but we need both at the same time to work
>>
>>36447216
>thats the idea. He wants to use a ridiculously strong healing spell straight in the heart of the city. A city of undead, mind you
I'm saying use the crystals directly, not as a means to channel the moon's mana. Level asmund in some healing class a bit so he can buy light burnt trick twice, give him a bracer or 1mil mp crystals, hell, buy him a small fast floatstone ship so he can hit the tower directly by surprise, and send him on his way.

A strike team with a few dozen million +MP super golem on a small fast rockit ship is ideal. take him alive and show the people his crimes then Asmund takes over we clear out the tower of people (and research) then [holy] blast it from the ship with a smaller version of his spell using a 20-30 million MP crystal, as A sing of power.

Turn off the city's power grid
Fight his father
Preserve the body with a necromancer's ability to prevent automatic resurrection

A kangaroo trial and public execution does not in any way shape or form reform society.
The moment his father is killed, he assumes his late father's position and can start working on reforming society.

Also, it seems a bit insanely dangerous to parade such a powerful person around. you can inform people of his crimes AFTER his death rather than giving him a trial. Not to mention technically, as the dictator, nothing he has done is actually illegal, he IS the law.

1. extremely unlikely for him to remember anything

I think there is more support to just repeatedly blast/kill him until he stays dead. the necromancer freeze thing is just if he wont.

Some people are paranoid about dark gods ensuring that he is reincarnated with all his memories in this world. But honestly that seems less likely than him just being eventually released from his "carbonite" eventually by some do badder.

Also, when I originally suggested carbonite, I did not mean that. I meant encasing him in crystal / metal / magic statis spell / something while still alive.

Ren is Mako's sister, btw

Also, IIRC someone asked me about the meaning on the characters name, so here you go before you ask

Ren (or Rén) (Chinese: 仁; pinyin: rén; Wade–Giles: jen) is the Confucian virtue denoting the good feeling a virtuous human experiences when being altruistic. 仁 is exemplified by a normal adult's protective feelings for children. It is considered the outward expression of Confucian ideals.

Confucius also defined Rén in the following way: "wishing to be established himself, seeks also to establish others; wishing to be enlarged himself, he seeks also to enlarge others." Another meaning of Rén is "not to do to others as you would not wish done to yourself." Confucius also said, "Rén is not far off; he who seeks it has already found it." Rén is close to man and never leaves him.

Consensus: rescue/kidnap Ren (consensus was reached in previous threads)
My plan: Murder the visir (who murdered the previous queen and most her daughters) so ren can be free of him.

My plan has the support of 1 guy. That isn't a consensus. I never said it was, you are just retarded
>>
>>36448498
>so, do we assume thats the general plan? prepare for a year+ to help asmund, then help Ren?
yes. that is what we are doing.
>>
>>36448498
I dont like the idea of entering a foreign nation to kill people randomly, so itll take some convincing to bring me on board.
>>
>>36448623
>No, let's not assume that. There has been nothing even remotely workable presented in regards to Ren.
Its not really rocket science.
Go in, assassinate evil visir at night without getting caught and identified.
Mako convinces ren to come back with us.
A few years later she comes back to assume the throne.

Even if the visir is some ridiculously powerful and overleveled guy personally rather than using conventional assassions (which, AFAIK he did and does). we can still pretty much apply almost the same method of killing asmond father to killing him. only use different element than holy.
>>
>>36448498
>so, do we assume thats the general plan? prepare for a year+ to help asmund, then help Ren?
Yes.
Although personally I would rather not wait a whole year to deal with the ren thing. maybe scope out the situation there earlier, to get a feel for the place and the people involved, and then come up with a custom plan for it?

>>36448680
>I dont like the idea of entering a foreign nation to kill people randomly
>randomly
it isn't random, its premeditated.
The guy so far has murdered:
1. mako's mom
2. 3 of mako's older sisters
3. the previous visir
4. he has been behind trying to dispose of mako (the constant kidnapping attempts).

there is nothing random about it
>>
>>36448556
>with food and petting?

Wasnt there a game made into a horrible horrible anime where this was a thing?

Also, in Japanese, Ren as a name means romance or love. Which I guess its cute, too

anyway...

>>36448623
Well, suggestions?

Alright, let me especify, then
The idea is that this year's vacation we spend it on either albion or eopolis, and next year go to sbastia? or do you want to go to sbastia this year?

>>
>>36448732
>Wait, we're personally supposed to help asmund?
Yes, that is literally what we decided.

>No. Get him some mercs to help him out or something
Mercs are not going to even slightly bother his dad. it needs to be someone who is ridiculously broken. And we are NOT powerleveling some random mercs nor equipping them with millions of mp in crystals.

King, put up a vote for helping asmund directly. There seems to be some opposition to the idea.
>>
>>36448775

You literally answered your own question. The nation has a government in place. We aren't going there to exterminate the entire government. We are taking out one guy. who in fact has himself taken out multiple high level members of government
>>
>>36448781
There was literally 1 person who mentioned anything about it during forming the plan (calling it an act of war) and was rebuked with "we wear a mask and don't yell we are eldrik lightbringer"

And now that the plan was finalized, there was again that same guy saying "hire mercanries to assassinate him instead". an idea which is laughably stupid considering how he acquired and held his position in the first place. and the super dangerous secrets we are using to kill him. (efficient leveling, scion, mana generators, etc)

what civil war. the country, officially and on paper, is ruled by ren.
The visir was very careful in his takeover to not do the whole civil war thing. he is taking over via marriage and the death of the royal family except for a single little girl whom he arranged to marry.
If the fiance of the queen dies, there is no civil war, she is still the queen.

I thought it was just one person

anyway, we went terribly off topic, it was meant to be just some extra info about what Asmund wanted the tech for, making a cascading moonbeam superweapon to vaporize the Black Spire and everyone inside

Once that is done, he doesn't minds discarding the tech or whatever you and Okaba want to do with it. He's fine going along with it, so, what do you want to do with it?

Use it as a top secret of national defense to power an army of constructs? install one on every ship to make a fleet of airgolem carriers? use it as electricity to power services across the realm, like sbastia does? others?

There was a discussion, a long drawn out discussion.

The question was "is the entire plan ok".
There was only 1 anon who specifically objected to eldrik helping personally (suggesting mercenaries instead)
The other anons who said no did not talk about this, they were discussing OTHER ISSUES, all of them specifically assuming that eldrik is personally helping and no mercenaries.

>>
>>36448949
The problem with putting it to a vote, is that the anon complaining has suggested that eldrik will NOT assist and that instead the plan will be carried out by asmond and "mercenaries"

Asmond original plan to fry the whole tower is because he is NOT A RETARD. If asmond could just hire mercenaries to reliably kill his father, he would have.

That means that in any such discussion, asmond is going to go "NOPE!" to the mercenary plan.

So that leaves us with our original actually workable plan. Or no plan at all whatsoever where asmond just resorts to his own original moon vaporization plan.

Anyway, I thought most people agreed to helping Asmund, and were worried about helping Ren, so lets be more specific i guess

The plan for Asmund is helping him take down the city power grid for a few hours or days, then take down his dad, then turn the power back on, right?
He is fine with whatever Eldric and Okaba later decide to do with the tech.

As for Ren, maybe attend the wedding in 5 years, or even simpler, this very year we could go there invited by Mako and take out the Minister of the Left to help Ren

Timeline events so far
Currently, we are 11 years and 7 months old
1 year and some 5 months ~ we get sent to eopolis at age 13
2 years and 5 months ~ we help Asmund. We are age 14 at this point
3 years and 5 months ~ we rescue Mako from the Alquian Visir. Tho by now, who knows? maybe we could just openly declare war on them since I imagine we would have made the coalition more than strong enough by then
4 years and 5 months ~ Ren's wedding

We have 4 years and 5 months for Ren's wedding

So here's the vote, I think

Help Asmund ourselves, discreetly masking our identity? (tho honestly that only matters if we fail, I think?)
>Yes
>No

We have this year's vacation "empty", go visit Mako's homeland with her and take down the Minister of the Left NOW?

Well, lets see...

Assuming we are helping Asmund, then. Come think of it, we DO have LOTS of strong friends we can send to take down the man without going ourselves. Why, we have

Aura
Brass
Dawn
Grummir
Honoria
Lyann
Mako(? she IS pretty strong, really, but I doubt we would send her)
Okaba
Python
Stella
Zoe

So we CAN not go ourselves. Hell, we could send a entire party just to take down the guy, and the others to take down the power grid if we want both things to happen more or less at the same time

>>36449579
yup
>>
>>36449521

Well first off, I think killing him might not be too hard.

We do know that the network passes mana through sound. Does our swords silence break passing the mana? If so, we can seperate him from the mana shield.

Could we create a large scale sound interferance device to interrupt the network in the tower then?

If we disable the network, he is just a normal, if strong mortal.

He likely is packing some immunity items, we need to remove them so he could be killed for good.

>So we CAN not go ourselves. Hell, we could send a entire party just to take down the guy, and the others to take down the power grid if we want both things to happen more or less at the same time
The guy who said not to go ourselves suggested sending mercenaries as an alternative.
I seriously don't see how sending our 3 sisters while we stay at home counts.
Also, taking out the power station as a separate team is still going ourselves.

You suspecion of it being basically 1 or 2 guys is sound, its completely out of character for us to not help asmond and mako.

We work with Asmund and Okaba in the various projects we have, but having come up with a simpler plan against his father, there is no rush to craft a doomsday weapon or an army of constructs anymore.

Life for Okaba and us returns to normality. For Asmund, enjoying to have friends, its a first.

We continue playing chess with Mako in the club, and taking her to walks around the university's gardens.

The petite girl walks with short little steps, her old fashioned wooden shoes actually keeping her above the freshly fallen snow.

She may be wearing traditional western shoes (which we recognize as "not japanese" with an internal smirk), but she is still wearing the same uniform as any other female student, a black, plated skirt with a white shirt and a cutesy red tie. A long, thick fluffy coat covers her almost from her ears to her toes, but it's only secured by a few buttons on its front.

"Do you enjoy the snow, Mako?" ~asks Eldric as he gently holds her hand with his

Funny, that. She may be one of the strongest persons we know, but we can't help but to treat her as if she was made of crystal, nor does she act as you'd expect from someone who could punch her way through a dungeon.

"Yes! we had snow at home, too, but I wasn't allowed to play on it before" ~she says as she enjoys the crunching sound of her geta on the snow

Well, she was a delicate imperial princess. It only made sense she wouldnt be allowed to do something like playing in the snow.

>Playfully bully Mako. Pour some snow down her neck and have her chase us around the garden, maybe teach her about snowfights (and lose, of course)

"Kyaaa!" ~the cute little imperial princess cries out while shivering as the cold snow runs down her back

"Eldric, you meanie!" ~she cries out as she tries to catch her friend and throw snow down his neck

Of course, either of those are completely unfeasible. Not only is he faster than her, he's also much taller, but that doesn't stop her from trying, and noone said he would offer any real resistance.

Ami was smiling as she laid down on a nearby roof. She had never really seen the princess having so much fun.

Mai, next to her, was aiming some bolas at Eldric's legs, but he soon fell into the snow, all on his own, and Mako tacklehugged him to pin him down as she throw some snow on his face.

The shadow sat back down, and took out some cookies from her item box to share them with her sister.

"Ah, mercy, I give up!" ~laughs Eldric as he tries to see through the snow the petite princess had covered his face with.
"Y-you meanie!" ~she says as she hits him.

Well, everything its relative, really. Those cute little slaps could probably squish a monster skull with ease, but Eldric was more than tough enough to perceive them as the cute little punches they looked like.

Neither one of them notices that she's sitting on top of him until he straightens up, and has to catch her to prevent her from falling backwards. The result is that she's sitting on his lap while he hugs her, and they are looking at eachother's faces.

She looks so adorable with an apple-red blush on her.

"Uhmm"
"Eldric?"
"Nope"
"???"
"I like this"
"M-meany!"

Ah, maybe we teased her too much. But she's just so cute. Alright, we help her stand, carefully, and then let out a big cry and make a sight of it when she kicks us in the shin.

Teaching her to make snowballs, we later have a snowball fight with Honoria and Zoe before Mako has to go.

"Did you had fun?"
"...yes" ~she says softly
"Alright"

She tugs down on Eldric's sleeve, and places her hands around her mouth to tell him a secret.

When he leans down, she gives him a smooch on the cheek, and throws some snow down his neck, then runs away, somehow managing to chuckle as she blushes, arms spread widely while she goes *squish squish squish* on the snow.

"Ah, thankyou for playing with our princess" ~says Ami from behind us, before running off after Mako, seemingly having come out nowhere

"We'll see you tomorrow" ~says Mai, standing on top of our shoulders before being replaced by a natural sized snow Mai, which collapses on top of us, soaking all of our clothes.

Well, it's fine, we did slip some snow down under the clothes of a imperial princess, after all.

Then a snowball hits us hard on the back of the head, and Zoe runs away laughing.

"Hey, you!" ~Eldric shouts as he chases his lion (kitty?) sister, throwing snowballs at her.

Zoe runs off into the teacher's lounge and all the way to hide behind mom

"Eldric, what are you... why are you soaking wet!?" ~says mom when she sees us
"He's throwing snow balls at me!" ~accuses our snow-haired sister
"Eldric!"

Well, we are grounded, again
We hadn't been grounded in years.
This is, in fact, just the second time

Of course, we are not really grounded. Mom just wanted to have us home to talk about our daily life, our friends, and our projects.

"...sounds amazing" ~she says when we explain to her about the mana generators and the way Asmund's crystal array can pick the mana and store it~ "So what are you guys doing with all that mana?"
"We are not really sure... Okaba is worried about its use, actually."
"That sounds like a good thing to be worried about." ~says mom while caressing our hair~ "I suspect the potions expender at the church is your work, then?"
"Yes" ~says Eldric softly
"Uhmm... can you mimic other spell effects? what about simpler things, like light?"
"I have a permanent candle"
"I know, but I meant, something more portable. How about glowing paint? it would be useful when exploring dungeons. Could you make glowing paint? or liquid light, I guess"
"Ooooh... I... maybe?"

Mom goes around and hugs us from behind, enjoying to rest her chin on our head while we are still shorter than she is, since it is rather obvious that we are going to be so much taller than she is.

"Ah, how about toys? can you make some toys for your baby brother and sisters?"
"Yes!"

Ellie comes in and looks at the scene.

"Madam, please store those books away already. I need to lay the dinnerware on the table already"
"Just five more minutes, I'm having my Eldric time, now" ~she says, stealing the way Stella and Zoe use to refer to playing with us
"Madam!" ~Ellie pouts~ "At least let me enjoy some Eldric time, too!" ~she says as she pouts
"Nope! mine!" ~says mom with a smile

With the mana, there is a lot of good that could be done with it.

We could easily create a bunch of items with the mana, there is so much useful stuff that could be done likely.

It helps that we are mixing modern ideas/physics with magic.

And there are so many ways it could easily be weaponized.

Well, we end up with Ellie, Stella and mom having fun by messing with our hair.

By the way, Ellie did manage to ready the table in time for dinner, somehow.

She got some Bastionite shark fin soup. Its a treat that had probably only rarely been seen this far west from Bastion.

A modern part of us wants to say something about the waste that is eating just the fin, but on this world, the reality is that the chances the shark becomes just the fin as a drop is... well, pretty high, to be honest.

"I dunt want it!" ~says Athena while sitting on mom's lap
"It's delicious" ~says mom
"No!" ~Athena turns her little face away from the spoon
"Uhmm... maybe I will just eat all of it myself" ~says mom as she eats the spoonfull that was for Athena
"No!" ~shouts Athena
"Ah, do you want it, then?"
"No!" ~she says with a smile, while hiding her face with her hands, obviously playing
"If you eat all of it, I'll read you a tale later" ~says mom
"Promise?"
"Yes, promise"

Meanwhile, Elysia and Frederick, our newest baby siblings, are already asleep in a nearby crib.

I was thinking on getting Ellie pregnant after mom left the university, for obvious reasons. Would you guys prefer it now?

And, since its thanks to a blessing of the gods, I think its fair to ask "how many children?" maybe we should roll for it

We enjoy the dinner and then Ellie drafts us to help her clean the table, together with Stella

Ah, Stella is on her barefeet again... well, she's wearing socks. Why does she hate shoes so much, anyway?

Our dark haired, caramel-skinned sister's tail wags to a side and the other as she helps Ellie wash the dishes.

This girl can enjoy anything. Hey, are you a reincarnation of Yotsuba, or something?

Well, mom sends us to have our bath now, so we are sort of excused from dishwashing duty.

We are taking our clothes off inside the bath, when we hear some knocking.

"Eldric, do you want help?" ~asks Lyann
"No"
"You sure?" ~she asks softly
"Yes"

She doesn't answer, she just goes away. We already explained to her that we were having a improper reaction towards girls now, so we couldn't bathe with her anymore.

A bit later, she's under our sheets when we go to our room.

"Lyann, what are you doing?" ~she's all tucked up for bed, wearing a silk pajama shirt that does a terrible job of hiding her beautiful anything.
"I want to sleep together?"
"Go back to your room, please"
"...please?" ~she says, making a cute little noise that, really, only makes the problem worse
"No. Please get off the bed"

She looks down, and keeps looking down as she steps off the bed... oh god she really is wearing just the shirt!

Eldric quickly averts his gaze, looking up as the redheaded beauty walks out of the room

"Stupid Eldric" ~she says softly, then closes the door behind her

Well, Lyann isin't talking to us today.
She's wearing her anklecuffs and following us around like she used to, however.
She's just not talking to us, at all

We go to class
She stands outside of the boys bathroom when we go in
Then she follows us to the chess club and sits nearby, but not with us

Ah, some older students approach her to play chess with her.

"Good morning" ~says Okaba as he greets us and sits across from us~ "Why is Lyann staring daggers at you?"
"I don't know" ~says Eldric, trying to change the topic
"Really? I don't think its that hard to guess, tho. Are you perhaps not very good with the fairer gender? should I give you some tips?"

Is this the end of the world? did heel freeze over? does Okaba really thinks he's good with girls? are you serious!? this... this guy... this dense comedy harem MC-like guy!?

"No, I have it. Thankyou"
"Alright, just ask anything you need" ~he says while gently caressing Aura's head

She goes into the lab with us. Well... to be honest, she had began helping Okaba with his enchantment research, so she may not have really followed us so much as just go to the same place as us, right now.

Still not talking to us, tho

That night, she knocks on our door, once, and asks if she can sleep with us, then goes away when we apologize and say no.

This keeps up all week.

"Eldric, why is Lyann angry with you?" ~asks Mako while sitting next to us on a couch, just sipping from her tea

"Oh. But, I always sleep with Ami and Mai?"
"It's different..."
"Because we are smaller than you?"
"...yes. That's why" ~ah, we can't really explain it to her, can we?

Once we are done visiting Mako, we excuse ourselves and leave the orphanage to go back home.

"Lyann, please forgive Eldric?"
"..."

Walking back, we go through the commercial district to buy some things for Ellie. We greet Kalkah and get some fruit, then are well on our way home when a snowball hits us hard on the back of the head.

"Ah! Lyann, why..!?" ~Eldric turns around, and sees the redheaded beauty looks ready to cry

She's standing still while holding a few snowballs against her breasts while holding another on her hand, looking as if she's ready to cry, eyes red with a tear hanging from each

bdsm stands for bondage, dominance, sadism, and masochism.
of which dominance (and submission, which isn't mentioned in the term) stands out as being way milder than the other.

while her act it bears some superficial resemblance to dominance due to the use of the word master. it actually isn't it due to the different in the nature and circumstances. Her using the term master here is not an act of sexual submission due to wanting to be sexually dominated

Heck, its mostly just teasing. The non teasing aspect is more along the lines of gratefulness for her knight in shining armor and referencing the social status from which he "rescued" her so to speak. Plus potentially a distorted view of it with things like okaba and his "slave".

>>36453670

Well, she's gonna call him E~ldri~c from now on, just dragging the sounds a liiittle bit to remind him of it.

Also, cuddle naps are best naps

And seriously, it works as more reasons for dad to want to send us away for a bit. I just felt it wasnt really justifiable before now.

That is a really awkward way to drag out a word.

To elaborate more because honest i do like the cuteness of all this and it makes the quest for me and you would infact be removing that by having dad send eldric away from the girls and honestly it is just kind of a dick move to be honest
>>
>>36453894
Yeah, but its the primary means of social and economic advancement in a lot of places. Being Eldric's property basically makes Lyann minor nobility. Or at least it was when we were originally brainstorming this world way back when, KoAND may have changed things when I wasn't looking.
>>
>>36453841
Im so confused by your USian system... then again my country has some really REALLY confusing bullshit like the RADICAL SOCIALISTIC DEMOCRATIC PARTY

How the fuck can you be a socialist, a democrat, and RADICAL about it?

Eeldriiic

It just looks horrible when typed that way

>>36453955
eh, i planned to fast forward most of the school year in Eopolis, then go back to them in vacations, or it could be the other way around with them visitng, or one year and one year.

Plus, I've had this mental image of chatting with Mako or Lyann through obelisk or shared journal for a long time, you know?

With Mako writing something like "I'm not wearing socks right now"

Which is LEWD. For her, anyway

but the point is, I have plenty of cute ideas to continue during this brief separation.

Sure, it will be three years in paper, but most of that will be Fast Forwarded

well in the usa it breaks down more like

socialist-wanting health care, schooling, and some king of work/disability insurance to cheep/affordable or WORST of all free

RADICAL meaning some time the almost get what they want

>>
>>36454251
You don't have to raise it to the point where it strains the believability of things or anything, but having a challenge would be nice. As would getting to know some new characters while we're away from the sisters. Adventuring and getting up to some mischief with our cousin, finding a dungeon or two to slay or experiment on would be nice.

I have hopes that both the Mako/Ren event and obliterating Asmund's dad will prove sufficiently challenging.

As a separate thing we should check with the Lady about the moon being bad to siphon mana from.
>>
>>36454251

I think our stat inflation has driven much of the risk of things. I think we need a deep dungeon, or something somewhat risky. Eopolis has the deepest known but there was no way we were accessing it.

I would also like to examine a dungeon heart with Okaba and Asmund so we can look into Dawn's condition some. We might have to just kill the dungeon she is linked to somewhat to free her.
>>
>>36454385
Our stat inflation does skew things yeah, but as we've seen with Grandpa we aren't the first to do it and there are threats big enough that min-maxing this hard is necessary. Once those demons start popping up things are probably going to get more dangerous.

We could potentially go hunt some demons.
presumably they pop up all the time and are taken down by angels. we don't have to wait until the forces of good are overrun and demons are swarming the land to get involved. we can get involved now.
>>
>>36454385
>We might have to just kill the dungeon she is linked to somewhat to free her.
i thought the removal process break the link. and it was an ancestor of hers that was linked and then switched over to the mana network
>>
>>36454485
We should ask our family's resident guardian angel to take us Demon hunting (maybe with Gramps in tow) while we're there so we have some first hand experience with them before we end up dealing with them on our own.
>>
>>36454485
I thought we were waiting to get Glitch so we can repair the Tears that demons are.

>slavery
>complex morals
kek.

Of course it isn't badly thought out rationalizations to allow for slavegirls. No sir.
>>
>>36454675
You do realize that slavery wasn't a consistent set of legal documents throughout the ages? Historically, plenty of slaves were much better off than their free contemporaries. Hell, plenty of slaves owned slaves, and were basically at the near top of the social pyramid. Don't confuse slavery as only US chattel slavery, or modern sex slavery for that matter.
>>
>>36454675
Its better than putting people in rape cages where they are killed unless they join a race based gang (aka prison).
but its use on non criminals is clearly immoral.

also, the whole point was that we rescued our girls from slavery, not that slavery is morally just.

Actually, while editing my post I accidentally lost a few lines. I blame lack of sleep.

I was gonna mention that I disagree with that anon you were replying to that was saying that this is a complex issue or that we have slaves.
Its really not complex at all.
Criminal slavery? = better than prisons
Innocent slaver? = immoral

And that "whole point" thing was referring to the point of our relationship and where the QM took it rather than the point >>36453771

Oh, it doesn't necessarily require it, but that doesn't mean that an individual insititution of slavery is by definition immoral, just because you call it slavery
>>36454823
>Try reading the quoted post next time. Anons point was precisely that slavery was morally just in this world.
Actually, that certain institutions of slavery are a social good. I'm not going to tell you that you have to think that slavery is morally justified. But I will tell you that in your homeland, selling yourself into slavery to a noble family is one of the best ways to advance socially and economically. Incidentally, roughly 80% of noble families are descended from former slaves. And most people will be very unhappy if you try to abolish slavery.
.
>>
>>36454939
>Oh, it doesn't necessarily require it, but that doesn't mean that an individual insititution of slavery is by definition immoral, just because you call it slavery

Given that this entire world is set up such that applying modern notions of human rights to it without considering the actual circumstances will cause massive problems, you can laugh at me all you want, you'll get somewhat realistic results however. Mainly, social chaos, and a state about as stable as Iraq is. Which is what tends to happen if you apply a "universal standard" of human rights without considering actual socioeconomic circumstances.

>>36455043

Really? Also, if this was a reskined europe, that still wouldn't make it a good idea to free all the serfs. In fact it would be utterly immoral under Utilitarian and Social contract ethics.
>>
>>36454979
its a big step better than just killing criminals when you have a magic way for them to obey orders, sure 90% of the way it happens is wrong sure that's why we want to change it. but its been in our girls head for most of her life that she was going to train up so she could be sold at a high price. then we com along she sees us brave dungeons, work blood sweat and tears to buy her so we can set her free. You do that kind of thing for people they love you. this entire history sets up pattens of behavior in her mind from very young, now it no longer applies and she is growing up in love with us she most likely fetishes the entire relationship and seeing Aura and how she is as one of her biggest older female roll models this all seams rather normal. or at least obvious.

so yes slavery (in most forms) Wrong and Lyanns behavior is well natural, not only does it express her feelings, but also now she found a way to tease us, and if you remember that has been 70% of what we did to her the entire quest, now she is getting us some payback, sexy sexy payback.
>>
>>36455203
Oh, also forgot to mention that medieval Europe was formed primarily around agricultural land and strictly limited central government, neither of which remotely apply here.
>>
American here, why did we ever free the slaves?
call me /pol/ if you want, but when we made them slaves, even if some of their masters beat them, at least they werent building houses out of poo and getting eaten by lions like they would if we didnt have slavery. Chances are, just living daily life in africa is more difficult than any work they had to do for the white man, plus they got food, clothing, shelter, and at least some hygene. Most slave owners didnt even treat their slaves that badly.
ever since we released them from slavery, all they have done is cause problems for rational and civilized people. IF its because slavery was so bad, we should just ship them back to africa to wallow in poo, die violent deaths, catch ebola, and wonder why they ever didnt want to be slaves in the first place
>>
>>36455496
We freed the slaves largely because the economic system had changed such that that particular variety of slavery was no longer economically efficient (as demonstrated by the free north using its superior GDP to beat the south into submission). Slavery no longer made sense in that particular socioeconomic context so it died, if somewhat messily. Next question?
