So, it's noon. Or something approaching noon, in any case.

You're currently inside the walls of Oakring- The one place you can do the most damage.

Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration. The walls really wouldn't stop you at all. Walls are nothing before your spidery might. Or your earth powers.
They're wood, too. Add the fire powers to the list.

No, wait. You're not burning or otherwise destroying the town. You're just here to pick up Lann, so she can visit the forest. And you can show off a waterfall and some stars.

The village is in full swing already as you make your way through- the smell of fish, wood burning, the distant sounds of people chopping trees. You've apparently become a fixture for the villagers, if not the adventurers themselves. People wave to you as you pass, without screaming or fleeing.

Not that anyone ever did that. The one kid fainted, but that barely counts.

Onwards to vaguely legal kidnapping!

Hey guys. Remember how lann said she thought we would have eaten bugs, and we said the only ones big enough to hunt talk? Well, long story short, let's make the adventurers do it for us.

>We're running out of space on our spiderbutt

I think we're okay for now. We just need to put a little thought into space management.

Jin can sleep quite happily standing on a perch. She can take the 'horn' in the middle of our skullbutt.

Shez and Nin can each take an eye.

And Lann can sit on our thorax between the skyllbutt and our Elf torso.

But if we collects any more.........
>>

Supporting putting a vote to how to deal with our limited cargo space before next evolution hopefully fixes that. All suggestions welcomed (though we will regret that).

Isn't Jin already with us? How can we steal her from ourselves.
>>
>>36506286

I swear, one of these days Lyra is going to walk into some Extra-Magical Kingdom's seat of power, declare she is going to steal -MacGuffin of Incredible Value and or Power- and have everyone be completely and honestly surprised when it winds up missing.
>>

Easy. We set her down in her house for about a half minute, and then we steal her and get back on the road.

> Jin keeps her eye socket
> Shezka keeps her eye socket
> Lann gets to ride front and center and is probably comfortable enough just bringing along camping gear. She is an adventurer, after all.

Beyond that we simply pray that our numbers don't multiply before we hit a next tier evolution. God of protection bro will probably understand that our circle is growing, up our size a little and give us some extra seating capacity.
>>
>>36506347
>Jin has already claimed an eye, she'll fight you on that.

It is our job as Quee- A Giant Spider to settle disputes between our subjec- friends.

If Jin does not want to give up her territory, we must offer suitable concessions to make her accept.

I suspect a deal involving a suitable level of hugging, head pats and entertaining her with fire may do the job.
>>
>nobody wanted to get the adventurers to get us some grasshoppers

Damn.
>>
>>36506501

Was the plan going to be to eat them in front of Lann? I'm not quite understanding what our angle would be on that.
>>
>>36506539
Our angle is we get some tasty grasshoppers to try, and we realize the true convenience of the adventuring board for one stop shopping.

And we might share them with jin. She's the only other one who might like 'em.
>>
>>36506539
It might have been grasshoppers in order to train. Like a karate kid montage kind of training.
>>
>>36506566

It's almost exactly like that, in fact. We trick some douchebag into doing our menial chores, and claim it's to give them experience.
>>
>>36506588
But as a giant spider, what kinda chores do we even have?
>>
>>36506588
The sad thing is that almost anything you do in this universe WILL give them experience.

We're a giant spider, we've not gotten many chances to taste bugs, they might be really good. Like potato chips.
>>
>>36506663
Good question. I just want to go in, abscond with Lann and go on an ADVENTUREor a date.!
>>
>>36506692
Unless these grasshoppers are at least as big as a wolf, I doubt they'd provide any sustenance for Lyra.
>>
>>36506759
well, I did suggest the quest be for a "10 pound bag".
The original idea was a 50 pound bag, but then I realized I have no idea how much space 50 pounds of grasshoppers would take up.
>>
>>36506793

Going by average grasshopper weight (0.54 grams), we would need 40,740 to make a 10 pound bundle...
>>
>>36506834
Yes.
There's a reason I want to get some mook to do it for us.

It's a little early for adventurers, isn't it?

You distinctly remember the sun being higher when Lann woke you up last time. Or maybe that's just when people are drinking?

You change course as you move, your legs clattering away as they carry you towards Jin's house. Cabin. If Lann's not awake, then you can give her some time to get up while you check in with Lia. If Lann is awake, then she's probably working, and maybe a bit more time will see her back to town.

Kidnapping her while she sleeps has it's own appeal, of course. But you'd have to get someone to let you into her room, and the guards would probably bother you enough to wake her. It would take a bit of planning, and some co-operation across the board. Maybe next time.

Lia is outside as you roll up, sunning herself on a flat, wide rock in front of the cabin- Oh. Yeah, you didn't put it back into the ground last time, did you?

Well, as long as people are enjoying it.

The harpy squints lazily with one eye as you approach, and you wave.
"Good morning, yes?"
She watches you carefully before responding.

"Are you causing trouble in town, Lyra?"
"What? No. Of course not. Never."
"Your mother was a terrible liar too, yes."

You place a delicate hand to your chest, closing your eyes and lowering your head.
"I am hurt, yes? Devastated. That you would slander me so carelessly, that y-"
"So what is it?"
"Pardon?"
"What are you trying to do, yes?"

Nin and Jin both lean out from behind you. Dammit.
"Lyra wanted to kidnap Lann, yes? But the guards said no."
"The village belongs to the harpies, and the harpies belong to the forest- So, really, it's not kidnapping at all. The queen just needs her subjects-"
"I am not the queen, yes?"
"Yet."

NON-Giant Spider transportation for Lyra's friends?

>>
>>36507004
Lia cranes her neck to see.
"Who is this little one, then? Are you in the business of smuggling moths now?"
You pick the fluffy insect up with one hand, gesturing with the othr as you conduct introductions.
"Lia, Nin. Nin, this is Lia, Jin's mother, yes."

Nin wriggles her way up in your grasp, and somehow manages a bow. Which is impressive in it's own right, let alone for the level of dedication she has to her act.
"It is wonderful to meet you. And, I must say- You have impeccable taste in names."
Lia starts laughing, rolling onto her back as she cackles.

"It is nice to meet you too, yes. And I am certain that Lyra is wholly deserving of your attentions."
"Of course!"

You will never find pity, anywhere, ever again.
You've learned to accept that now.

One could argue that being an adventurer for anything other than the most mercenary of reasons is immature.

But fuck that guy.
>>
>>36507181

You laugh.

You tell yourself it sounds honest, but you're pretty sure you can't even fool yourself.

"HA HA HA! Yes, anyway- I thought we could drop by, yes? Let you know where we'd be."
Lia smiles at you.

"Lyra. I worry, yes? But not like that. I know you would throw yourself in front of anything that would hurt my daughter. Thank you."
You blush, one leg drawing little circles in the dirt.
"That's- Yes. You're welcome. Goodbye, yes?"
"Have fun, little ones."

You turn and speed towards the guild. Gah, your cheeks are burning. You didn't need that after Nin's teasing.

It does feel good, though. Like a warm little ball in your chest. You let yourself smile a bit as you move.

But Nin!

This is getting out of hand. You need to do something. Anything! Maybe just assigning her jobs? Something ridiculous, or time consuming. You have been wondering how bugs would taste. You don't think Mom has eaten any. Maybe you can ask her later.

You could get Nin to gather up a pile of bugs for you to try! Or would she just pass it off to Sheszka and Jin? Probably. Sheszka would be easy to set to work. And Nin seems pretty much immune to teasing.
>>
>>36507916

Pretty sure it says explicitly on her character sheet NOT to mention that to our crazy, web slinging sister for fear that she will capture our new found comrade in arms. If not that, she might descend on the moths in our absence, becoming a dark and terrible (also terribly comfy) queen.

>>36507954
Maybe you could interrupt a speech? Just as she starts, start rubbing her antennae- You could see her trying to keep going as she squeaks between words.

Dammit, she'd probably enjoy it.

You push open the double doors of the guild, stepping into the main room- There's the usual smell of fresh wood and a hint of alcohol. And against your expectations, there's a few people using the tables, though they seem to be poring over paper rather than drinking. Which is probably good, given the time of day.

You head for the bartender, getting a wave as you pull up.

"Good day, yes? Is Lann in this morning?"
"Not a bad day at all. I think your friend left early- A bit of hunting or something."

Huh. New plan, then?

Again, sans errors.

There's... probably a reasonable, easy and fast way to deal with this.

But you haven't got anything remotely resembling patience, and that sounds boring anyway. Instead: Elf hunting.

"Ah. Do you know which way she went, then?"
The barman shrugs.
"Away from the river, and not towards the ruins would be my best guess. Sorry."
"Sorry. I'll check in at the gates, yes."

He nods, you nod, and you're back on the street in moments.
You're not actually going to check the gates. That would take time, precious time, and result in more explanations about not kidnapping people.

Instead, you'll use your highly trained crack team of monsters.
"Sheszka, Jin."

One head leans aound your shell, and another has ears that perk immediately as you speak.
"Can you find Lann for me? And try not to let her now you're there, yes?"
Both nod, and shoot towards the woods, Jin keeping her flight in check as she follows Sheszka, the wolf's nose leading them both forwards.

You keep close behind them, trees and plants flying by as they pick up speed.

You're getting closer to the lake when your packmate draws up sharply, slamming on the breaks and skidding a bit through the dirt. You check your speed and duck behind a tree, peering forwards as Sheszka flattens herself behind a bush.
>>
>>36508802
Is the post missing a bit?
Shouldn't we know where and in what siutation she is before we can decide on how to grab her?
>>
>>36508831
Lann is a ways ahead, arrow nocked and ready, watching one of your quadruple-eyed elk/deer things. She lets out a breath, and an arrow follows a split second after, whispering though the air and disappearing into the monster's neck with a meaty thunk. You haul yourself into the tree as she makes her way to the body-

Then she stops and spins, one hand grasping at her quiver as she glances around. She licks her lips, swallows, and calls out.
"Hello? Is anyone there?"

You hold your breath, and she pulls another arrow free as the forest falls quiet around her.

Lann matches your stillness, second for second. She's frozen where she stands, string taut, unmoving.

A tense minute runs by in silence, and she lets out a breath as the forest starts to come alive around her again. You watch as she glances in the direction of your hiding place, but she shakes her head, making for her prey.

She's efficient. It barely takes five minutes work, and she has the deer tied in such a way that she can move it, packing up her gear and her catch, but keeping the bow strung and at hand.

This isn't working at all.

She stands, and after another look in your direction, picks a different way out towards town, heading away from you and making to loop back. Probably.

You grimace.
Yes, she's an adventurer, and not a ditzy blonde in the latest splatter movie.
Yes, she has common sense, and yes, it's probably necessary in her job to stay alive.

But it's just a little disappointing.

So there are 5 moths and they have all evolved once to the generic moth evolution, they all decided hey are ready for grander things and are preparing to leave their little moth village and head to adventure. But first they decided they needed money and lots of it. They have already explored the nearby human village which was a mining town that many adventures stopped by on the way to the city. So it became clear to make money sell to the adventures, what sells? Booze. The moth who had the idea to eat poison berries to make poison powder had the idea to make booze powder. This resulted in 2 sessions of drunken Moths attempting to not get lost in a bunch of mine shafts as they conducted “Research”. Eventually they devised two kinds of Powder. One speeds up fermentation, and one turns any liquid it is poured into, into cheap liquor. They immediately start mass producing both, one Moth going to the village to learn how to make barrels from a carpenter, he, however decided to not finish all the lessons and that's were things started to go wrong.

These 5 Moths are well known in their little village and are constantly expected to cause trouble. If they are not currently causing trouble they are assumed to be plotting it, so they could not produce the powder in the moth village.
>>
>>36509865
The solution was to produce and hide it deep in the natural cave systems. They had become familiar with that the mine shafts where based around. The villager had long ago realized the Moths aren't particularly threatening, especially the group of overly excitable and drunk ones.

They spent 3 months producing and storing powder. So that's 3 months of not causing trouble in the village, I rolled every months it see if the village elder became suspicious and eventually he did. He goes to the human village, and they tell him where to find our little group. He however was not familiar with the tunnels, and called out to them several times so they knew he was coming. And for some reason they panicked. They decided they needed to hide the barrels, all of them. One of them had the genius idea, “Lets hide them in the underground lake.” So the moths are now throwing barrels, full of powder that turns liquids into alcohol, into a lake, the barrels being at best, poorly constructed.

I had the guy that made the barrels roll 5 d100 and took the average as how the barrels did.
63, 54, 20 1, 2 28 average. So the barrels did nothing at all. Funnily enough underground lakes tend to be connected to other water sources. Like Rivers.

The Human villagers knew something was up when the fish started acting funny.
They got worried when all the village children started coming home drunk for no reason.
They started Panicking when all the fish started dieing.
>>
>>36509889
>for some reason they panicked. They decided they needed to hide the barrels

I'm imagining one of them shouting, "It's a raid, flush the stash!" As they throw the barrels into the water.

You sigh dramatically, and drop back down to the ground.

No need to push any further. Someone is going to end up full of arrows, and you'd rather it not be you.

You cup your hands over your mouth.
"Lann! Hello!"

The half-elf rises onto her toes, looking over the vegetation in your direction.
"Lyra?"
"Hello!"

You march over to her, trampling bushes and anything else in your way. Sheszka picks herself up and follows you, and Jin dances through the foliage to land on your shell.
"How are you doing, yes?"
"Uh- I'm fine. What're you doing out here- I mean, aside from living. You don't live over here do you?"

You raise an eyebrow.
"What? No, not at all. I promised you a visit, yes? So I was coming to get you."
"Huh. Well, I haven't got anything to do after this, so that sounds pretty good."
"Wonderful, yes! Do you want me to carry that?"

She glances at her catch, then nods.
"Sure, that would make it a lot faster. What are you doing out in this part of the woods, anyway?"
"I am a bit impatient, yes? So I came to kidnap you."
"That was you in the brush? Bloody- Don't sneak up on someone armed, you- wait-"

You pick up the body, and stand idly as her brain processes what you just said.
"Wait, wait. What?"
"What?"
"Don't you- You just said you were going to kidnap me!"

"Wha- That's not an answer!"
"What kind of answer are you looking for, then?"
"Why are you trying to kidnap me?!"

"How am I supposed to abduct you if you won't even investigate strange noises in the dark woods?"
"You are not supposed to abduct me!"
"Now you're just being silly, yes?"

"You can't just- Agh!"
Nin giggles behind you.

"Is this just a thing? First Jin, and now me?"

You turn to look behind you at the same time she does. Your friend is preening herself behind your, running her fingers over feathers before looking up.
"Yes?"

"I do not think I can kidnap the willing, yes? The law implies some sort of resistance."

>Hey! If we introduce Lann to our family, we should bully her into becoming a model for Elle, and having Elle making a princess dress for Lann.
>So that we can kidnap an elven princess.
Devious! I love it.
>>
>>36510386
All that confusion when people mistake the princess dress for a wedding dress.
>>
>>36510712
We play dumb and have Lann or mom explain it to us
>>
Hey REQM you still need to update lyra's character sheet with her proper title
>>
>>36510752
It'll probably take a few weeks to type them all out.
>>
You smile. A fixed, devious smile, curling its way through your lips, revealing fangs and dire intentions.
Lann freezes as she watches you grin at her, taking a half step back. You can see the confusion in her eyes.
"Lyra?"

You turn towards her, letting your joints clack loudly as you move.
"Lyra!"
"What? You said it yourself, yes? I can't kidnap you."

She watches you with another confused expression.
"Yeah, I said that-"
"Yes, yes. Rope or no rope?"
"Wha- Rope's better, I guess? I already tied it, didn't I?"

You tilt your head.
"I didn't take you for the kind that would enjoy that, but there is no telling, yes?"
"...Yes?"

Nin's giggling out of control. Lann, on the other hand, has no idea what is going on.

Which is why she doesn't react at all when the first loop of web is tossed around her, cinching her arms to her sides.

"What?"
"Well, you asked for it."
She opens her mouth to protest, and you spin her lightly, wrapping the silk haphazardly around her.
"Lyyyyyyyyyyyra!"

You cackle.
"Don't worry, yes? This isn't kidnapping!"
"LYRA!"

You throw the bound elf over one shoulder, and the deer-thing over the other.
"Sheszka, could you carry her bow? I am afraid her hands are tied, yes?"
"That's not a pun, that's literal! And it's not funny anyway!"
Well, you're laughing.

_________________________________________________________________

With the forest mostly avoiding you, the trip to town takes no time at all. Lann does have an impressive set of lungs, though.
"Ah. Is the deer for food, or a request?"
>>
>>36510724
But we'll know. Oh boy, we'll know. And we will smile internally at their flustered expressions and embarrassed stuttering.
>>
>>36510894
....
"Don't sulk. What do you want us to do with it, yes?"
"I look ridiculous."
"You'd look less ridiculous if you didn't spend all your time yelling."
"Don't try to turn this around! You tied me up!"
"I asked first."

"AGH. It's just for food. Give it to the bartender, he'll throw it in cold-storage."
"No problem."

You head straight there.
"Wait a- Hey, Lyra, you can't bring me in there like this!"
"Of course I can?"
"No no no, absolutely not-"
"I do not think propping you against the wall outside would be any more dignified, yes?"
"Oh gods."

>Okay, maybe you can let her out. For now.
>That's enough, you've had your fun.

make sure to tell the guards that it isn't kidnapping so you're not braking any rules, that and this happened outside of the city further making sure you broke no rules.

Lann does have a reputation to uphold. There's having fun with friends, and actually destroying a person's professional reputation. This would be getting closer to the latter than I'm comfortable with.

This is a little close, and I'll admit that the way I worded the choices is messing it around a bit.

Didn't really see the whole, "truss her up like lunch" thing coming. Seems like it is really embarrassing, not to mention we have no way of easily removing our own silk from her. Good thing she has short hair, at least, but I think we crossed a line.

Mom would not understand the connotations and thinks it's harmless: she is surprisingly pure.

We should probably let her keep the silk by way of compensation.

Can't really do much with the few strands of torn silk.
We can give her self-made silk blanket later.

You let out another exasperated breath.
Silly morals. Getting in the way of playful kidnappings.

You hoist Lann easily back to the ground, holding her with one hand to keep her balanced. You extend one finger, catching the top of the rope and pull down, letting your sharp chitin do all the work.

You slice cleanly through silk, dropping loops to the ground around the archer till your finger reaches the floor, leaving her free.

"Huh... You just use your fingers for that?"
You hold out a hand, palm up.
"They are very sharp, yes? I have to be careful, all the time."

She blinks.
"You pet them, though? Don't you? Are they just that tough, or what?"
"I am very careful. I don't want to hurt the people I care about, yes?"

Lann clenches a hand, watching her bones and veins shift and she clutches, releases.
She nods.

"Okay. I- Okay. Gimme a minute to turn this in, and we'll get going."
"Alright."

You follow the half-elf into the guild, stepping to the side of the door as you enter, and she marches over to the bartender with the deer behind her.

She waves, and drops into conversation as you look around. The people at the table have gone. The building is quiet again, empty. Though you're sure it'll be full and rowdy come sundown.

Adventurers that don't know to be somewhere safe after dark probably don't live too long. Or are very, very strong, maybe.
You wonder if there's any humans- or others, you guess- around like that. As strong as you are. Or even Mom.
Probably not.

Is that spider racism? It's kind of a fact, though. You're nowhere near as weak as a human, right?
Ugh, this is the dumbest thing you've thought about yet.

Lann finishes up and head towards you, and you take to the streets, walking to the gate.
And then, to the forest.

So instead of treating her like a child, we need to get close to her as an adult. Got it. This is a joke. Maybe.
>>
Honestly, I'm surprised we've not tied up more people up until now.
>>
>>36512064
>There hasn't really been a good place for it, mostly. Lann isn't a child. Being physically close isn't the same for adults.

We should do so anyway, if she complains or looks uncomfortable we ask her to explain. And then we laugh and laugh and laugh
>>
>>36512110
>>36512162
You won't get away with it, anons. Elves are quick to recognize lewdness.

>>36512116
There really hasn't been a reason too, I guess. You can easily restrain people with your hands, and even then, there hasn't been much in the way of humanoid enemies.
>>
>>36512252
How soon will Elle be reenacting that video with the squeaking moth and [heavy breathing intensifies]?
>>
>>36512252
>You won't get away with it, anons. Elves are quick to recognize lewdness.
She's a half elf, that means that she's only half as quick to do so, and by then it'll be too late.
>>
>>36512383
Humans are at least half as quick to spot lewdness as elves, though.
>>
>>36512064

Practice makes perfect, as they say. No doubt you'll get quicker at the keyboard as we go along, and I think that will get us a little more breathing room for doing all of the things (as people seem wont to do).

As for anything else, I'd be pretty down with spending a bit more time with the family, and I think introducing Lann to the whole bunch was on the agenda anyway. I also saw the call to adventure with hunting down guild members or higher ups for gossip. Unfortunately, it just didn't win this time around. Still hoping we'll get there eventually.
>>
>>36512721
I'm sure we'll run into the guild higher ups when we return Lann, wondering why the old man jotted in the margin that we were in town to kidnap Lann.
