The doors ahead call upon curious and to your logical mind unnecessary fears lurking in the close to the surface. Conjured worry of distant and imposing caricatures, black purple flames licking at the background of a universe bathed in distant pinpricks of star light. Even in the supernaturally calming open court or quad of the Infinity Academy campus, you feel these fears as they coalesce as a lump in your throat.

Fears about who might be beyond those doors. Concerns about yourself. Bad memories.

You are Mikage Chiba, second year High School student age 15. Sometimes, beneath a cloaked hood and scarf, you are the mysterious hero known as Eclipse; secretive protector and supporter of the fourth Sailor Moon and her court of Sailor Senshi.

The fourth Sailor Moon is your younger sister, Koyomi. The first and second were your Mother and Older Sister. In another time that you’ve left behind, you were the third.

Swallowing your fears and shaking your head clear of their influence, you approach the building with your friends and classmates Kairi Osaka and Midori Mori as well as a student here who went to junior high with all of you, Momoko Nakajima. You’re here today on a mission.

That mission exits the academic building with a certain amount of reserved excitement and a pleased look on his face as your group approaches. He stands shorter than you, wears a fairly nice pressed button down shirt right now, has dark skin, and an androgynously cut head of silky blonde hair. His name is Sasha, and you need to figure out if he or the bear he keeps as a pet, to spar with, and as its licensed trainer are hosts to the remaining broken half of a powerful magical artifact currently hanging in an ostentatious locket around your neck.

A recent conversation with your mother confirmed that the locket was a transformation broach.

Now, you were planning on using hanging out with him for a part of this afternoon along with friends as a ruse to try and get information about his bear, and then try rooting the piece of the Golden Crystal one of them might possess out. Kairi and Midori are in the know of your activities and actively support you with supernatural powers you have bequeathed to them, Momoko has no idea about the truth of your intentions. You also don’t want to reveal your big secrets to Sasha just yet either.

You freeze up a bit, the lump you swallowed rising up in your throat as nerves and worry seize you. What if this is a bad idea? Maybe you could have approached him some other way? It wouldn't have been particularly difficult to stalk him as Eclipse.

Your vision tunnels a bit as you try to glance left and right for somewhere, anywhere, to hide. It is for not as you see nothing and your feet are planted firmly, unable to flee. Midori ribs you with her elbow when she sees you having the beginnings of a minor freakout, the light impact draws you back to yourself long enough to regain some sense of composure. Nakajima-San looks worriedly at you, but Kairi manages to reassure her that you're fine.

That quick business out of the way, Sasha sees your assembled group quite easily. Approaching at a casual pace he waves in a friendly manner and offers a proud smile.

"Hey! Be- Chiba-san, Osaka-san. It's good to see you again,"

~H-hey, Sasha,~ you falter before regaining your composure and confidence, ~How was your interview?~

"It went well, I think," he shrugs, smile not wavering as he casts a quick look at the two girls he doesn't know.

~Oh, let me introduce you to my friends. Girls, this is Sasha. Sasha; these are Midori Mori, my classmate, and Momoko Nakajima, a friend of mine from Junior High who I guess is now one of your class mates,~ you gesture to each in turn.

"It's nice to meet you," Midori smiles, but regards the boy carefully. Extending her hand for a shake, he takes it curtly if awkwardly.

"Welcome to Infinity!," Momoko beams, "Which extracurricular of your's caught the director's attention?"

Sasha crosses his arms and gives a nod as his smile slips into a knowing and somehow prouder smirk.

"Boxing, flyweight. I'm actually participating in the Aiba international youth tournament in two weeks," how can someone so small have such a big presence?

"Hey Moe-chan. Funny running into you here," Midori chimes.

"Funny nothing. I go here," she laughs as quick introductions are made, along with an explanation of what’s happening.

When you are introduced to her, carefully by Midori, you don’t quite meet her gaze and grow noticeably quiet. At Sasha’s query of your sudden quiet, you brush it off as being a problem with being around new people. Relenting to allow everyone going out together, you manage to let telepathically slip to Midori and Kairi to keep Ueda-san and Nakajima-san busy once you’ve gotten the group activity started wherever you all wind up.

The lot of you set out toward the Northern Shopping Plaza. Ueda-san monopolizes Nakajima and Midori, surprised two of her friends already knew each other. Kairi winds up standing buffer to you from their extended half of the conversation, as she quickly picks up that you don’t want Moe to interact with you too much.

A single look from her confirms it, she’s worried about you and is following your lead.

Sasha talks with everyone a bit, and you continue conversing with him as well, though a bit reserved. He seems to hit it off with his schoolmates to be as they are both athletes, Moe Ueda in fact promising to give him the tour of the weight room. In no time at all you arrive at the Plaza. There are a number of small eateries, cafes, a salon, clothing shops, a karaoke parlor, a vintage & new video game store, and a hobby/book store at the plaza.

As you’re all trying to figure things out, you quietly suggest the bookstore, while telepathically asking Midori and Kairi to push it as well. With half the group urging for it, the six of you head into the Book & Hobby Shop named Book Dungeon. To your surprise the store is split into two well defined halves. One seems to have all the trappings of a normal bookstore while the other has hobby airplanes, tranes, wargames, wargames terrain, and TRPG books.

The clerk hardly looks up from his own weighty tome as the six of you begin perusing the bookstore, which is quite sizable. As you browse about, flitting between brief proximity to Kairi and Midori, waiting for your opportunity to get Sasha alone. As he heads down one of the aisles, away from the others, you pursue quietly and seem to be browsing as well. Pulling something off the shelf, you catch wind of a conversation from the next aisle over.

“So, what’s the deal with the Chiba girl,” Moe asks of Midori with her inability to whisper.

Momoko and Kairi are in the front of the shop, marveling at modern tactical and medieval war games terrain and figures. You and Sasha seem to be in a section of automotive and engineering books. You’ve no idea what Midori and Moe are looking at.

“Its a bit hard to explain,” Midori sighs far quieter...but you’re actively listening now, “She and Osaka-san where actually the girls I was giving a hard time,”

“Really? Neither one really seems like Princess No. Though Chiba seems like a real wallflower,” Moe Ueda grones, “Hey, have you seen this new paleo diet cookbook?”

“No...and no,” she sighs, “Remember how my school was attacked?”

“Yeah, it was all over the news. The director made a big assembly speech about proper protocols for attacks on the school, with a special section on supernatural procedures,” you can almost feel Moe’s eyes roll from here.

"Uh..." Moe watches Midori retreat to the front before regarding you with a tinge of embarrassment, "How much of that did you hear?"

"I was..." she huffs at herself and then softens toward you, "Listen, Midori-chan has always been upset with herself for how she treated you and Osaka-san,"

As you head back around the corner, you find Sasha waiting for you, face quirked in curiosity and leaning against the edge of the shelving. Honestly you almost walked into him, short people leaning are even harder to see.

Only way I can see it getting really bad is if a failed roll leads to Mikage losing her composure and either attacking or needing to be consoled.

"Except Koyomi is holding one of the enemies and crying. We all are." She leans into her father's shoulder, his expression neutral. "Mom told me how they faced enemies where she saw them losing before the fight, but she had just interpreted the vision wrong."

The normally smiling girl has grown dour, but not sad. There is resolve in her voice. You aren't sure if you pity her for having it or envy her.

"We can win the war, but loose something precious, right? I know I'm going to fight, its going to happen. I want to be there for Koyomi...maybe find a way to spare her those tears. I wasn't old enough or strong enough to help Mikage-chan like Tomoe-Sensei could" she pauses for a comforting drag on her milk shake. "Actually...I feel guilty. I wish I could have helped Mikage-chan. I, I was watching the fire the night of her last victory. I want to be as brave as she was, even if she had-" her voice catches in her throat as your blood runs cold.

Was she watching? Did she see? Did she know what-

"I couldn't spare Mikage-chan that pain...so I want to spare-"

You can't hear her voice anymore. Your pupils dilate in fear. Someone knows. Someone saw. Rin saw what you did. Rin saw what you did. Rin saw what you did!

One thing in particular cements it for me. As Eclispe we never refer to Mikage as another person. Redeyes/Miki/Dan seem to refer to her as another person.

I wouldn't put eclipse on the same level as any of the other personalities. I don't think it has it's own personality deviation. It's just Mikage hiding her face more or less.

So... Let me get this straight.

Mikage Normal Kid/Fantastic weird dreams

Notices they're actually Usa's dreams and that she and Usa are the same =/= person.

She dies everything in her power to prove she's someone else by becoming sailor moon.

Sailor Saturn while training her only makes this worse by being cold and distant, Mikage constantly feels like she's not living up to expectations.

Mental break down magician thing.

Princess no/all the mikages.

Where we are now.

More that the goal is to vent at her and getting frustrated when she can't get through her Usa-related spaghetti and actually deal with us. Also, she was Mikage's Mentor/Partner when she was Sailor Moon. Hotaru tried to be cold and gruff with Mikage, while Mikage wanted to do everything solo to prove herself acting like it was pride and not a desperate hollowness inside.

But if she'd have had a different instructor the whole Magician incident could have easily been avoided.

Honestly, if we didn't have Eclipse to hide behind, we probably would have done the same thing to the New Scout when starting out, because otherwise we'd be fawning over them with worry, so the alternate would have been playing Drill Sergeant.

Unfortunately, Hotaru's attempt to be strong with us wasn't what Mikage needed. It wasn't what broke her or left her with the host of issues she had in the first place, but it didn't help her.
And Hotaru will be utterly devastated when confronted with that, because she does actually care.

That I would disagree with. The core facts of that incident was that it happened at school, it was her friend, she promised her friend she would do a thing, and then believed she did the opposite of that thing- a terrible thing after a long a grueling encounter.
It would have taken heavy rework of who Mikage was at that point in her life to have a very different result.
