“Lets get it over with now, then. The sooner I've cleared myself of this parasite the sooner I can attend to more other matters. Never seems I get a moment of peace, these days. There's always some task looming on the horizon.” As you speak you whip off your cloak and stand, stretching out your limbs and briefly cracking your neck. You lay out the garment flat against the ground, its porous surface faced up.

Your master stands up, wobbles uneasily on his feet for a moment before apparently finding his footing. “Welcome to being an adult, Mikhael. You'll find your life seldom peaceful for quite some time, I'm afraid. Lucky for you, eventually you'll find yourself old and frail and retired with a gaggle of rowdy apprentices to shepherd along the road of life. You'll find yourself endlessly bored for broad stretches of time, reminiscing on the good old days and entertaining yourself however you can. Eventually you'll go just a touch too far and someone will declare you a threat to society, and from there it's off to Pani's sweet embrace.”

He shrugs as he steps up to the edge of your cloak, shaking out his limbs. “So how does this thing work anyway? Just step on in?”

You nod. “Essentially.” You vaguely catch Darzi asking if this is really a good idea before you find yourself falling down, down, ever downward into the unending darkness of the void. Your perception shifts suddenly, your sense of balance thrown off entirely as you find yourself suspended horizontally in mid air by seemingly impossibly strong tentacles, holding you aloft. They glow with a soft light, composed of some strange semi-ethereal essence. Your master falls through a moment later, likewise caught by Ricky's arms.

You can't breath within this realm, so you'll need to be quick. Unfortunately you find yourself faced with an unexpected complication. Besides Ricky himself, standing at the center of your little collection of furniture and belongings, there are four other figures surrounding him. They hover around the same plain wooden table that you last saw Ricky playing cards with corpses, corpses which have since been shoved off to the side. You wonder, absentmindedly, what he's keeping them around for.

You recognize one of the figures, the strange being with two arms which split at the elbows into four. His hands contort in a variety of strange manners at the sight of you, he must have at least four or five joints in each of his eerily long fingers. That strange metallic arrangement of pyramidal caps surrounding a central cube still hovers above his hand, ever twisting and turning on itself. Just looking at it makes your head hurt.

Of the new editions, you have to say you don't like the look of any of them. One is nothing but a skeletal head lacking a lower jaw, where his neck and parts of his chest ought to be there is only a gaping pit of black. He wears a long robe decorated with gold beads and he has, to your count, eight eyes. His teeth are incredibly sharp and his skull seems to have grown out into something almost like a crown. Where a nose ought to lie, there is only a hole.

The other is a wispy figure garbed in a thick, shifting robe. He has one eye covered by some sort of film, and it's little save a black socket. He has two long fangs in his skeletal jaw, and his fingers are sharpened claws which seem made of the void itself. The final guest is a hulking monstrosity with two large, oddly shaped horns and a weird boney protrusion from its chin. Its jaw is twisted into a grotesque, eternal grin and beady little eyes stare at you, its face turned to one side to get a better look. Its head is elongated, and ridged. Its neck thin. As for its body, it appears scrawny and weak and yet moves with a sort of barely contained violence.

Ricky gestures towards the table, and an image fills your thoughts of you laying atop it. Your eyes are closed, and your chest rent open. The five void creatures, Ricky among them, root about your insides. One of them holds up the parasite, you can't see which, and Ricky quickly consumes it.

I honestly wonder if having mortals thrown into Surya's Heart as bait for spirit leeches and then harvesting them is some voidly pastime. Like fishing or something.
>>
>>36651023
He has to get to our soul so there's a possibility that he's not literally opening up our chest cavity. The possibility that he may be doing just that though is a bit disconcerting.
>>
>>36651036
It's a show nigga, it's not getting eaten, it's slipping away into a trap door u der the table while ricky eats a fake one
>>
>>36651062

These are void horrors. I don't think they really understand little things like death and unimaginable pain too well.
>>
You glance to your Master for a moment, who fervently shakes his head. You then promptly ignore him and stride forward. Your Master doesn't know Ricky like you do. The creature is bound to obey your will, If anything he's the one creature you can likely trust without reservations, if only because he's unable to communicate with mortals in a traditional sense and he seems to be bound to the cloak somehow.

You climb onto the table with little difficulty, laying down and making yourself as comfortable as possible. Your lungs are only just beginning to ache from holding your breath, but years of suffering through your master's torment have provided you with enviously large lung capacity. You could likely hold your breath for ten more minutes, at the very least. You're still forced to hope that this 'operation' doesn't take too long.

Ricky's tentacles wrap around your wrist and ankles, stretching your limbs taught and forcing you to hold still. The one with the gaping maw where its neck ought to be drifts forward, its feet never seeming to touch the flat plane of the surface. It reaches down, running a finger down your chest. You'd likely find it a strangely intimate gesture where your flesh not rent open wherever it touched. Oddly, it didn't hurt.

It stops at your belly button, your chest now naught but a gaping wound. Another void creature, the one with the horns, reaches in with both hands and tugs. Your chest is split open in an instant, ribs breaking with a series of sickening crunches to reveal your beating heart and swollen lungs. You're starting to feel a little dizzy, yet you still feel no pain. It's almost as if you're merely an observer in your own body.

(1/2)
>>
>>36651104
You are probably right.
>>
The one hovering in mid air, shadowy tentacles writhing beneath and hands constantly shifting in strange, impossible ways, comes to rest on the table next to you. The pyramidal caps which surround the cube at the center of its strange little device slam together without a sound, and a sphere of glowing light begins to expand from the center of the cube. It quickly envelopes the void creature and yourself, and eventually comes to absorb the entire table and the figures around it. You catch a glimpse of your Master watching, confused and perhaps a touch scared. Magic plays across his finger tips, arcs of lightning sparking erratically between his fingers.

Huh, you didn't know your Master could do that.

The hovering void creature reaches in to your torn open chest cavity and begins to root around. It's an uncomfortable, unpleasant feeling but not truly painful. Merely odd. It grabs hold of something, and you feel a spasm of pain run down your left side. There's a tug, and suddenly the world is on fire.

We gotta study it first, or at least copy the runes on it.
>>

Which will require learning the magnification skill on top of all the enchanting stuff, so if we wanted to copy the ring we'd spend at least a thread here
>>
That's a loat of goats we'd be buying for Ricky and his friends...
>>
>>36651354
I wanted to use the parasite for that actually, as is we need to make a magnification tool to view the runes on the ring and find a soul strong enough to power it. (our or someone else's I'm assuming.)
>>
>>36651393

Sounds like something to do while we're recovering and everyone else is getting the supplies we need for our trip.
>>
>>36651411

I'm sure our master will have a way to magnify the runes if we ask him, and if not, there is no way that skull kid doesn't have a method. It wouldn't take a whole thread, maybe half a thread at most, and the results... completely worth it.
>>
We should've invited Rasim to watch!
It would've been highly educational.
>>
>>36651499

The pain is blinding, and you feel your consciousness fading as that pulling, tugging, ripping sensation persist. Then there's a snap, and something comes free. Golden strands of... something drift weightlessly through the void, a chunk of the same material held within the parasite's insectile pincers. For the life of you, you can't figure out what the hell it might be. Then there's a sound like a tree branch snapping and the chunk rips free of the creature's mouth, slowly drifting back towards you along with its adrift brethren.

Slowly, your memory returns. Your soul, the spirit was latched to your soul. Though you suppose it is no longer. As it attempts to wriggle free of the strange hovering creature's fingers, the glow emanating from the cube suddenly vanishes, the pyramidal capstones returning to their positions hovering around the surface of the cube rather than attached to it. The little wriggling spirit remains, you can't help but wonder what the purpose of that little device is.

The hovering creature hands the spirit over to Ricky, who snatches it up in his tentacles and raises it towards his blank face. Before your very eyes the plate of chitinous armor parts, revealing a hard beak stretching forth from within. It yawns wide and in a moment Ricky has swallowed the spirit whole. You can hear it shrieking even as the chitinous mask seals itself once more, mouth receding into his face.

You've no earthly idea what just happened. Ricky seems no different. He's just standing there, looking at you. The others seem to have lost interest. The one with the gaping maw has already vanished, while the horned one is stalking off into the darkness well beyond the light given off by the rend your cloak tears in the fabric of the void. The floating one makes some strange hand gestures at Ricky and then vanishes immediately afterwards.

(1/2)
>>
>>36651981

You know you want to stay awake for this! Drink some coffee! And thanks.
>>
In an instant Ricky's tentacles have coiled around your torso and your Master's legs. Your Master discharges his spell in a panic, a flash of lightning briefly casting the void into stark, white, contrast. Then it's gone. Ricky seems none the worse for wear, in fact if anything he seems to be stronger than before. He carries both of you to the gateway that represents your cloak and then forces you out, one at a time. First your Master, and then you.

Ah, there's the pain you've been expecting this whole time. A scream rips from your throat as you once more pass into the familiar realm of reality, chest still gaping open. You can see your heart beating at a rapid, desperate pace, the sound seeming to fill the room. Rasim feints, hitting the floor with an unceremonious thud. Chrys seems frozen in place, as does Prof. Both stare at you wide eyed. Darzi curses under her breath and begins to collect her vys for a spell, presumably to heal you. Your master is quickly climbing to his knees to do the same. Meanwhile, Skull Kid looks terribly confused but not overly unsettled and Mortia looks like she's going to vomit all over your Master's nice flagstone tile floors.

You channel a surge of magic, probably far more than you really need to. Your ribs snap back into place loudly, sealing themselves back together. Your lungs and a number of major arteries torn whilst that creature rooted about in your torso reuniting or otherwise repairing themselves. The pain subsides, rapidly once your ribs are no longer shattered. As the flaps of skin that cover your chest slide back into place and seal themselves together once more, the pain is gone entirely.
>Vys Pool: (27/41)

You lay there for a moment, just breathing deeply and relishing the feeling of air in your lungs. Your heart rate slows gradually, eventually returning to its usual pace. You push yourself into a sitting position after a fashion, rubbing at the spot on your chest where the gash once rent your torso open. “Well, that was an experience.”

Your Master claps you on the shoulder, taking a moment to struggle to his feet and hobble back to his pillows. He plops down unceremoniously, scooping up the hose of his hookah pipe and taking a long drag from the silver mouthpiece. After he's exhaled a broad cloud of sweet smelling blue smoke from his nostrils, he speaks. “In Pani's name, Mik. What was all that? I'm hardly a stranger to the void but I can't recall ever seeing anything more intelligent than your average Long Neck out there stalking the emptiness. You leave my sight for a month come back with all sorts of trouble.”

He shakes his head. “Though I must admit, I am impressed. Takes a lot of guts to lay your life on the line like that, trusting void creatures. Thought they'd cut your head open and eat your brains or some such. Startin' to think they might have, considering you'd have to be either an idiot or a madman to let them rip your chest open like that.”

He takes another long drag, during which Darzi seizes upon the opportunity to speak. “What on Earth happened in there, Mikhael? You walk in happy as can be and come out screaming bloody murder with your chest torn open and you don't even seem that upset about it!”

You shrug your shoulders, manifesting a cup of ice and some cold water in front of Mortia so she can calm her stomach. She jumps, but only slightly, before taking the cup and raising it to her lips gratefully. Don't want her puking on anything. While doing so, you simultaneously launch into a brief tirade about what you saw and what happened, bringing your companions and your Master up to date on what exactly you think happened.

Ricky had one of his associates rip the parasite from your soul using the aid of some strange artifact and their natural talents. Ricky then ate the spirit, putting an end to it. However, in the process some of your soul was ripped away from you. Fortunately, you managed to recover it before it was lost forever.

Profectus seems to have recovered enough from his initial shock to comment. “Shit, Mik. That sounds far more dangerous than necessary.” You shrug, opening your mouth to speak, but he holds up a hand to stop you. “Look, I'm not going to argue with you. I've barely got any idea what you just said really, but at least now that this is over take a break from the life-risking for a little while.”

Sound advice, all things considered, and you note Chrys nodding along. Ironic, since the next thing on your to do list once you finish everything you need to in El-Amin is to kill her husband, likely a dangerous task she asked of you. You dispel the thought, and return your attention to the present. Your Master is addressing you.

“So now that we've gotten your parasite dealt with, what's your plan? Personally, I think that's about all the excitement my old heart can take today. That lesson you owe me might need to wait. Can't believe that spell just rolled right off the critter. Y'know, I spent ages perfecting that technique, easiest way to shoot lightning from your fingertips I've come across. Didn't seem to do squat.” He shakes his head, muttering something to himself. He really seems quite bothered by it, you've no doubt he'll spend the next few weeks trying to improve his method.

The main point to remember here is that when we pissed off all those dragons, and ran off with their egg, while stealing the heart of one of their leaders(which we proceeded to feed to a spirit), there were no consequences at all, and we proceeded to live happily ever after... No consequences at all...

You lean your head back, staring up at the ceiling. You've got a lot you want to do, but you can't escape this niggling feeling in your gut that you've let your parents worry long enough. Even if your Master told them you were alive and had visited, you've no doubt that only made them wish to see you more. Even if some of your siblings aren't thrilled by your return and pending unbanishment, you owe it to your parents and older brother to visit.

“I believe I will visit my family estate, and say hello to my parents.” You right yourself, resting your elbows on your knees and focusing your attention on your party. “You can feel free to do as you wish, I think we've all earned a little rest and relaxation after that long journey. If any of you would like, you may accompany me to visit my parents. However, you are by no means obligated to do so.”

Darzi raises an eyebrow. “I suppose it might be interesting to see how you nobles live, I suppose I'll tag along. At the very least there ought to be a meal in it for me, yes?” You nod, your family's cooks are quite skilled assuming nothing's changed in the last year or two. You must admit, you were never very good about visiting home.

Profectus shakes his head. “Well, that's all well and good but I believe I'll find a nice bar by the docks where they won't look at me funny for being pale.”

Skull Kid nods his head in agreement. “I think I'll join him, I could use a stiff drink. I gotta say that wine they served at the temple was weak as piss. Couldn't get drunk on that swill if I downed a whole bottle.” You wrinkle your nose. To think, he'd prefer that explosive mixture they called alcohol in his home dimension. Well, that's none of your business.

Mortia clears her throat. “If it's not too much trouble, I believe I will stay here. I have some questions for Master-” She glances to your old Master, a questioning look plain on her face.
(1/3 or 4)
>>
“Karim-” He provides “-and I'm sorry to say lass, but I can't bed a human. I'm under enough scrutiny as is after that prank last year when I lit that pompous ass Attar on fire.” Gods, you remember that incident. You'd never seen a battle of such magnitude. They ended up leveling an entire farm and having to pay the damages. It was terrible. All over some petty squabble. “You'll have to get your jollies off somewhere else.”

You've never quite seen Mortia quite this shade of red. She seems simultaneously angry, embarrassed, and confused. She practically shouts at your master. “Listen here you accursed knife-ear! You know that isn't what I meant, I just wish to learn a bit more about the area-”

Your master cuts in with a wicked grin. “Yes, the area around my crotch mayhaps.”

You cut in before it can come to blows. “Master, please. She doesn't quite understand your sense of humor as of yet. Besides, we all know you prefer goats to begin with. Just leave her be.”

Your master wags a finger at you scoldingly. “That was a low blow, Mikhael. A low, low blow. Fine, then. I'll lecture her about whatever it is she wishes to know. No problem of mine.”

Chrys clears her throat once the little argument seems to have subsided. “I believe I shall stay here and study. I have several books which I am still reading and I do not wish to risk your parent's disapproval.”

Huh, that strikes you as a surprise. You expected her to jump on the opportunity to meet your folks. You note with some mild amusement that she's a bit more fidgety than usual, she's probably just nervous. It's not as if introducing a woman to one's parents is a particularly romantic gesture, more friendly than it is anything else. You suppose it's not really your problem.
(2/3 or 4)
>>
“Profectus, if only you were as studious as Chrys. Ah, how easy my life would be then. No need to nag a lazy pupil into doing as I ask.” He glowers at you, but doesn't rise to the bait. A shame.

Fulvia has not spoken, and does not seem inclined to. You push yourself ungracefully to your feet and stretch out your aching limbs. Maybe it's just because you're starting to run low on vys, but your arms burn terribly. You know nothing is wrong, but you dull the pain regardless.

Darzi in tow you make your way down the stairs, having finished saying your goodbyes to the group. Zahak comes plodding along after you. Even as you pause in front of the bath and take a moment to urge the steaming water from the pool so that you can use it to wash the blood and trail dust off your clothing and yourself, Zahak seeks to mimic you. First, he launches a blast of flame from his gullet at the water. Instantly a great burst of steam billows from the pool, filling the room. Finding himself unsuccessful, in his attempts to control water with fire, he simply leaps into the now boiling hot water.

Once you've finished giving yourself a thorough, if brief, bath you turn your attention to Zahak. You need to decide whether to leave him here or take him with you.

It was made pretty clear that it wasn't a full unbanishment during our conversation with Kadir. But it goes a little beyond that too.
He had asked us not to make waves about being apparently unbanished until his situation had settled down.
What exactly is walking into the foyer of the royal palace in search of a test of Grand Mastery and saying that its alright because we've got it in writing from the Shah himself that we're an Aghtak that should not be detained, and therefore are magically a Vatis eligible for a grandmastery test by way of El-Amins royal palace? It's getting attention and making waves.

You clear some of the steam away with a touch of water magic and turn your attention to Zahak. You focus your thoughts on him paying attention to you, watching carefully, while at the same time saying. “Zahak, watch me. I'm going to show you a new type of magic.”

Much to your surprise you get a response. He whips around, splashing hot water all over the sides of the bath and slashing about until he's in a good position to see you standing at the edge. You hear his voice, gravelly and somewhat high pitched, echo through your mind. Were you not somewhat used to it, you'd think it merely a growl. {Magic! Papa magic!}. Huh, maybe his language skills slowly are improving, though he's still got a long ways to go before he's speaking in full sentences.

You raise a pillar of water from the pool and quickly shape it into the form of a dragon, larger than Zahak. You have it open its maw wide and shoot a burst of boiling hot water right in Zahak's face. Your dragon roars, although it comes out more like a squeal, and leaps at the watery dragon only to find himself passing through it. You focus on the concepts of reward and discovery and knowledge while saying. “If you can figure out how I did that, I'll get you a whole goat to enjoy. Now, I'll be back soon. Don't cause any trouble.”

He seems far too busy staring intensely at the water and trying to get it to move to pay you much mind as you make your way out of the house. Darzi shakes her head once you're beyond the threshold and the front door is closed. “Gods, I can't believe a beast which will likely grow into the greatest terror the world has seen in the last ten thousand years can be so cute.”
(1/2)
>>
You grin, you can't help but feel a little proud. He IS very cute, and so incredibly clever. You're really happy with the pace he's advancing at. However, turning your thoughts away from Zahak and to the path ahead, you begin a mental debate on whether or not to go on foot or by carriage to your family home.

>By foot, it's a little more dangerous but you're more likely to spot something interesting.
>By carriage, safer and faster but you're unlikely to accomplish much in the way of shopping.

You set off at a brisk walk down the cobblestone streets. Here, near your master's home, the cobbles are smooth and even. Hardly a single one out of place. Aligned with almost impossible precision. However, as you pass outside of the Vatis' district you quickly start to note the degradation of the city streets. Cobbles have been pulled up, and others worn to gravel. You pass a number of abandoned, boarded up homes. Though a wealthy and prosperous city without a doubt, El-Amin has always had its fair share of poverty and the homeless clog the streets in the lower districts.

Perhaps then it is a tad foolish to walk, why risk getting jumped by a desperate beggar? In the end, you asked yourself a simple question. What would likely make for the better story, a relaxing carriage ride or a walk through the crowded, hectic streets of one of the largest cities in the world?

You walk is pleasant, relaxing even as you make your way past the expansive homes of wealthy nobles and the various cafes, hookah dens, bars, inns, and restaurants which line the streets. You catch a few dirty looks on the way through the area, though most seem too busy staring at Darzi. You have to admit, you can't blame them. She's still wearing her monk's robes, and though trail-beaten and dusty they still show off her assets quite well. You, meanwhile, look like a homeless beggar in a tattered underrobe. Your Master's robes won't even stay on they're so riddled with rends and tears.
(1/2)
>>
You pass from the relatively wealthy Merchant's Distract into the markets near the docks. The streets rapidly become clogged, people seeming to press in on you from all sides. Of course, with you being a native of the city and Darzi being an (ex?)city guard captain it's no issue. You're both more than capable of navigating the mass of people. It isn't long before you notice a silk merchant advertising a number of fine robes in gold, rich blue, and even purple. Some are brocaded with gold and silver thread, others are plain, and still more seem to have stitched designs across the surface.

Purple and gold are GM colors, and those are way too gaudy, just buy a uniform colored one with some neutral color like orange, beige, or cream. If you want colors, at least just go with a dark blue, at most with some white trim/patern foe iciness.

Yeap. Not only are we half-way out of Vys, we're very close to leveling up our speech skill. So the obvious choice is to go for the option that gives twice as much progression. Short term and long-term benefit here.

You tug Darzi on the sleeve and jerk your head in the direction of the merchant's stall. She nods and quickly falls in after you as you pick your way through the crowd. It isn't long before you're standing before the merchant's stall. Rather than the warm greeting you were expecting, he instead eyes you warily. Like at any moment you might try to steal something. Annoyed, you subtly reach into your cloak and withdraw a fat purse of coins, setting it down on a table the merchant has set up in his stall, presumably for accounting purposes.

The merchant's eyes light up. He's a weaselly little man. Tall, thin, and wiry. Like he's missed too many meals and worked far too hard. That strikes you as odd for a silk merchant, usually they're fat, happy, greedy little bastards. While he's certainly greedy, you doubt the other two apply.

Now that he seems confident you're not some beggar he starts off on his pitch. “Ah! My friend, my friend! And your lady friend too!” He shoots Darzi a sly grin, only to be shut down entirely. Darzi merely wrinkles her nose in distaste and turns to inspect the fabric of a black shawl with purple, red, gold, and blue ornamentation designed to resemble the feathers of a peacock. It's a fine garment, a fine garment indeed.

The merchant deflates, turning his attention back to you. “Well, that's my rotten luck with women for you. Now, is there anything in particularly you were looking for, oh honorable customer?”

You tap your chin absentmindedly. “Well, not particularly. Something simple I can tell you that much. Nothing too flashy-” You cast a look behind you to Darzi, who's tossed the peacock shawl over one arm and moved on to a collection of white robes with golden threading. Seems she has some expensive taste... “-perhaps something black and silver, or white.”
(1/4)
>>
The merchant snaps his fingers proudly. “Ah, but I have just the thing for you my friend!” He whips around on his heels and marches off to a chest, throwing it open with surprising vigor and drawing out a long black robe which would reach down to about the middle of your shins, by your rough estimates. The sleeves are long and voluminous, and the fabric rich indeed. He tosses the robes absentmindedly onto his desk and reaches back into the chest, digging around for a moment before withdrawing a long, silver sash. You imagine it would wrap around your waist and over one shoulder.

He lays the silver sash over the black robe, and you must admit the colors compliment one another rather well. You shed your Master's robes and pull on the black robes, then take a moment to fashion the sash about yourself. It takes a few tries, but eventually you figure out the tale end is supposed to dangle to one side, a tassel you suppose. Despite the color and the weight of the cloth, it breaths surprisingly well and doesn't overly constrict movement. Exceptionally well made, and exceptionally comfortable.

You do a few brief stretches to see how it all fits and, finding it suitable, turn your attention once more to the merchant. “How much for the robe and sash?”

The merchant grins. “For you, my friend?” A pause. “One hundred thirty gold!” He seems quite pleased with himself.

Of course, that's an outrageous sum. You could but four or five robes of only slightly lesser quality for the same amount. “I think not, 'friend'. If you sought to rob me you may as well have stabbed me in an alley on my way into the market. It would've been quicker than this nonsense.”
(2/4)
>>
The merchant scowls. “A hundred thirty is a fair price! A fair price I say! Really, you're stealing it from me at that price! I ought to call the guards!”

You smirk. “Go ahead, I'm sure they'll see who the real criminal is here. You certainly don't look like a silk merchant, my friend. In fact, I'd hazard a guess that you stole this shipment off some poor caravan and absconded into the city to sell the goods before you could get caught!”

The man reels back, clearly offended. “How dare you accuse me of such treachery?! I am an honest man! I do not deserve these accusations merely because I am not some fat pig of a man!”

You fold your arms in front of your chest. “Oh, I've no doubt you're an honest merchant, but who are the guards going to believe? One of their own-” You gesture towards Darzi, who has come to stand next to you while you argue over the price. “-or some no name merchant? Would it be better to cut your price or have your goods confiscated until you can produce your license?”

He glares at you for a moment, but eventually sighs. “Fine! Fine then! Have your way, eighty for the robe and sash together.”

Music to your ears. “Throw in a new set of underrobes and britches and you've got yourself a deal.”

Ten minutes later you're walking away in a brand new pair of robes, a fine pair they are too, and you no longer need worry about your wedding tackle slipping through a rend in your pants or some other such nonsense. Darzi walks along beside you, garbed richly enough to be mistaken for the one of the Shahzadi, or at the very least a scion of one of the wealthier noble families. Perhaps she's scant a few giant diamonds to pass for a child of the Shah.

(3/4)
>>
You're nearly to your family's estate when you bump into a short, pale, sickly looking youth. You're knocked off balance, while the kid is knocked flat on his ass. This despite the gnarled old length of wood he's using as a walking stick. You reach down to offer him a hand, surprised to see it's a human. A rather oddly dressed human to boot. You'd almost mistake him for one of your own kind were you judging on garb alone.

He grasp your hand and you manage to haul him to his feet. He stares up at you through eyes rimmed by dark, heavy bags and wipes his nose across his sleeve. When he speaks, it's horribly accented Samjan. “Turrbly sorry sur, turrbly. Didn't see-” He descends into a fit of coughing, forcing his mouth into his elbow to maintain some semblance of manners.

With a wave of your hand, you alleviate some of the worst of his symptoms. His nose dries, his fever lowers, his headache rapidly subsides. His coughing stops abruptly, and he seems confused, you'd even say he seems shocked. He keeps his mouth firmly pressed into his elbow for another few moments before hesitantly lowering his arm to his side.

He breathes in through his nose, sighing in relief as he finds his sinus unobstructed, then presses a hand to his forehead to confirm his fever lowered. Finally, he looks up to you cautiously. “I knew those who followed the Cursed Ways were powerful, but to cure a horribly persistent chest cold with but a wave of your hand... yes, yes I can see why so many of your people succumb to darkness now. I can't say I blame them.” Huh, guess that accent was just sinus congestion. His Samjan is actually quite good.

oh yeah, we do have a bunch of junk like silk and iron ore to sell don't we

The important thing to remember is, the way we do stuff, these robes will probably last like a month or two before they start looking ragged. Then we get to do this again.

The price of white silk in ancient Rome c. 301 AD was 12,000 d.c. (denarii communes) per libra. That's about 0.7 lbs.

A denarii commune was a notary currency worth 1 silver denarius.

Basically, because most silk is produced on the eastern edge of Pidjata near Elaudia.
>>
>>36657744
I think this means we should get traveling clothes. The Master robes were awesome, but we wore it ragged because we were too apathetic to get common-wear. After we visit our folks, we should go shopping and try to find a place that sells the equivalent of hiking jeans and leather jackets. Save the good stuff when we need to dress to impress.

...I suddenly realized that this meant bitch-ass Kadir saw us running around in rags for a week.

>>
>>36657787
No that was before we opened the crate that contained the silk. If you check the inventory it's still there.
>>
>>36657787
I'm pretty sure it was debated but ultimately you decided to hang on to the silk and only sell the stuff you wouldn't need to hawk. The inventory sheet shoes that you have a chest of fine silk and a crate of sea silk (also a highly prized commodity).
>>
>>36657780

what we actually need to do is to just enchant the robes
