/tg/ - Traditional Games

You're Alcie, a white mage apprentice at the country's most renowned magic academy. Yesterday, you just passed the final test for apprentices and may now call yourself a full-fledged mage.
After a good night's sleep you're now invited by your teacher, Alanna McBride for breakfast.

Looking out of the window of your chamber, you see the sun just rising. You have a bit more than an hour until your appointment.

What do you plan on doing in the meantime?
>Pick out some nice robe
>Take a bath
>Go to the training grounds, practice can never hurt

Not yet. But I'm considering to make one. Once I get one, I'll write here.
Also, I think I'm going to write now, too.
>>
You decide to get some more training. Practice can't hurt after all. When entering the training grounds, you hear a familiar voice calling your name.
>"Good morning, Alcie! Also up for a bit of fresh air and exercise?"
It's Solomon. She's casting spells at some training puppets, which already look really worn from her magic. Wulfric stands at the field's sidelines and occasionally says a few words, you conclude from Solomon's actions that these must be orders.
>"It's so wonderful that you graduated yesterday. I did too and Wulfric wanted to teach me some special techniques as a reward."
You smile.
>"That's wonderful. Do you know who else passed?"
Solomon nods.
>"Sure. Daemon passed the shapeshifting and Frederic passed the spellsword... stuff... thingy...you know. And... pretty much everyone passed. Except for poor William. I hope he gets another chance quickly. I couldn't stand staying with master Roeder longer than I really had to."
You smile again, even brighter.
>"He will, I'm sure."
You choose a dummy and practice your Hearthfire on it. When it looks like breaking, you cast a Close Wounds on it. The fabric and straw slightly move but don't completely fix themselves. You expected this outcome since both materials aren't really alive. At least not anymore.
It's twenty more minutes until your appointment.
What do you want to do?
>Let's go there, we don't want to be late.
>Let's continue practice a bit longer.
>Let's take a quick bath and get some nice robes.

Man, Solomon better be a trap. Have no idea how a girl got that sorta name.
>>
>>36660857
She's not. She's just a girl with a weird name. I think.
>>
Gonna write. Until now I take as canon that Solomon is a girl with parents which are like really, really bad at naming.
>>
>>36660939
Until now?
>>
You get your best pair of robes. They're black and purple like all trainee robes, but this one was a present from Alanna. It has a red and white cross, the symbol of white mages, stitched on the breast. Until now you've only worn it for festivals or what the academy called festivals, but today it seems fitting, too. After a quick bath and changing, you get out of the bathhouse just as Solomon arrives.
>"You're learning, Alcie. I didn't even have to call today."
You share a quick laugh, then you continue to Alanna's quarters at the third floor of the hospital. Again, she's already standing in the door.
>"Come in, girl. Breakfast's ready on the balcony."
You walk through the nicely decorated room full of antique furniture, books and colourful tapestry. You've been here only once before, on your first day as her apprentice. Not much has changed.
While dining, Alanna looks towards the great hall.
>"I can't make out much, but maybe you should watch this, my girl."
When looking in the direction she pointed, you see an old but impressively big man with a long white beard and two somewhat smaller men which seem to be watching an imp. At least that's what you think the little red dot is supposed to be. When it dissolves into smoke, it seems even more likely.
>"William, isn't that his name? It seems he just passed the graduation exam."
You smile, although confused how your old and nearly blind teacher could make this out if she couldn't even see them properly.
>"But... how did you..."
She smiles even brighter than she normally does.
"...see this, you mean? I didn't. I'm just really well informed. Your demeanor also told me a part of it."
You're still kind of confused but you're not sure if you would understand it with more explanation. So you just decide to let it stand.
>"But there's a reason were here, Alcie. You know what an apprentice has to do after finishing his education?"
You can immediately answer.
Part 1/?

I took it this way. If like... a whole lot of you request it, it'll stay this way.

Part 2:

>"The journey. Traveling outside of the academy to collect some real experience with our abilities."
Ally smiles.
"Correct. It's tradition for the teachers to give their students some kind of present for the travels. For example Frederic got a personalized magesteel sword from Alfie."
You need a second to realize she's refering to Sir Alfred. Then you nod.
>"I also got a little present to you. You may pick one of these."
She opens a wooden box, which seems really, really old. Inside, there lie a necklace with a heart-shaped pendant, a golden ring with a sun, engraved in incredible detail and another necklace with a white hand, probably bone or ivory, shaking a black hand which seems to be made from ebony.
>"Pick one of them, my girl. It will aid you on your travel."

Which one do you want to take?
>Take the heart
>Take the sun
>Take the hands
>>
>>36661126
Sorry, badly phrased. I meant "It'll stay like this unless a ton of you want it in a different way.

Gonna write for taking the heart.
>>
You take the heart necklace. Alanna smiles.
>"I took the same when I was your age. The heart calls the caring, supporting your healing powers."
You smile brightly
>"Thank you, Aunt Ally. I always wanted to help people. This is a really great honor for me."
Alanna nods, smiling as always.
>"Also, the Archmage invited all of us teachers for this evening. He told me to bring me along. So would you keep our company this evening?"

What do you want to answer?

You nod.
>"Sure. I will, Aunt Ally."
She looks unusually serious.
>"I'm happy it's this easy. The Archmage made it really clear he wants you there no matter what."
These are unusually hard words from the old man. It must be really important.
>"But enough of the serious business. You're young and passed your graduation exam. Go out and celebrate with your friends."
she tells you, now smiling again.
You return the smile and go to your chamber to dress a little bit more casually.
When you go towards the great hall, you can already hear your cheering comrades.
>"Look, it's Alcie! Come over here and have a drink with us."
You sit down at the wooden table all your comrades have gathered around. Frederic hands you a cup.
>"Great mead. Master Crow was really generous with some of his personal foodstuff."
Daemon nods.
>"And that's why he's *hic* such a great guy."
He seems to have already had a cup too much.
Solomon comes to your side.
>"How do you want your mead? Hot? Cold?"
You ask for a hot one. Solomon smiles and casts a small flame to warm it.
>"I'm not sure if this already counts as collecting practical experience, but it's useful nontheless. You smile and take a sip. The mead is really good. Master Crow is known for his good taste for a reason, it seems.
>"Well, what are you guys going to do on your journey?"
Frederic asks.
>"I want to become like a traveling duelist, you know. Great way to pratice spellswordry."
Daemon shakes his head.
>"A bravado to the core, as always. I prefer the more quiet approach. I think I'll live in the woods for a while. I can't think of a better way to practice shapeshifting."
Solomon grins.
>"Maybe I'll build a castle just from ice magic up in the mountains or something like this. Elementals, yay!"
Everyone now is looking at you.
>"And you, star pupil? How are you going to continue from here?"

What do you want to answer?

You take a deep breath and answer
>"I'm not sure yet. I think I'll go somewhere I'm needed. Injuries, Sickness... White mages are never out of fashion."
Daemon smirks.
>"Unless you all become way too good at what you're doing."
You all share a hearty laughter. The day passes, Frederic drinks everyone daring to challenge him under the table and Solomon bursts out in song after a few more drinks. After a fun day, you dress in your festival robe and head to the Archmage's quarters. Luckily, you cut back on drinking after a few rounds. Otherwise, the stairs would have become quite a challenge. You stand before the large oaken door seperating the quarters from the stairway. What do you want to do?

You knock and the door is immediately answered. It's master Roeder, seeming unusually sane this evening.
>"Come in, young one. We already were waiting for you. We can't dance the fishstick in these low numbers."
Well... somewhat more sane. You enter and along the table, all the masters are seated. The Archmage, sitting at the head of the table looks up to you and signals you to sit down at the other end.
>"I see you're here. And even on time. Very good. Sit down, girl. We have something of highest importance to talk about."
Confused, what might be this important, you sit down on the wooden stool.

And at this point today's thread ends. I would have liked to go further today, but I got stuff to do. If you want a twitter to follow, I haven't opened one especially for the game, but this is my personal one which will be used for this too until other notice:
@ContraImperator (Don't be confused about the language, it's german.)
