Welcome to the LIII installment of "Disney Villains Victorious."

Disney Villains Victorious is a new /tg/ homebrew project based on the idea of a world, not entirely unlike our own, in which all the villains from all the Disney animated feature films were not defeated at the ends of their movies but were instead victorious, completing their goals in part or in whole.

It is a world in which Ursula rules the seas, defied only by the uncatchable Pirate Lords, the cutthroat merchants of the East India Trading Company and the might of Atlantis and its magitech-toting mercenaries. It is a world where the grasslands and jungles and forests are prowled not only by fearsome primal beasts like Shere Kahn and Scar but also by the ruthless, tireless hunters that stalk them. It is a world where Europe has been divvied up between evil sorcerous monarchs like Maleficent, the Horned King, Grimhilde and Jafar, mad, inquisitorial clergymen like Frollo, and Dark Gods like Hades and Chernobog.

It is not, however, a world completely devoid of courage, heroism or hope. Around the world, the PCs' characters and their allies plot and plan, fight and strive and win their own victories against the villains that would rule them. The time to fight and to be free is now.

Should he be on Pleasure Island then, still making his puppet shows? Might he help the heroes if they appeal to his best side?
>>
>>36721304

Holy crap. The picture.

And, I think he should probably be on Pleasure Island. He might have villain or at least inner circle status.
>>
>>36721017
Would you look at that, we've looped all the way back around to the pic that started it all.
>>
>>36721496

Thought it would be a nice reminder of how far we've come actually.

Quest/Adventure/CYO in title field, thank you.
>>
just want yall to know I absolutely fucking love everything about this
>>
>>36721572
Had you looked at the OP for half a second you would have known this is a homebrew thread, not a quest.
>>
>>36721572

It's not a Quest, Adventure or a CYOA, actually. It's a /tg/ homebrew which is very nearly complete and in its beta testing and play phases while we finish statting its enemies. After the core game is finished, we plan on proceeding on to several expansions and splatbooks.

>>36721592

Thank you for your support, and please continue to enjoy and contribute however you see fit!

>>
>>36721783
Eh, could try to fit then somewhere in the toons expansion.

Awesome whip, and yes, he should be on Pleasure Island.
>>
For the Muppets, I think the bad guys winning would be that the studio got taken and the Muppets never got back together in the 2011 movie. So, I guess that sometimes you would just come across a Muppet living a mediocre life. Like, you are in the subway and see Electric Mayhem busking, or Pepe the King Prawn running a sea food restaurant and hating every second of it.
>>
Kings left to stat before we can officially declare a beta release:
Queen La of the Leopard Kingdom
General Santa Anna of the Empire of Mexico
The Huntsmen of the Elite Global Huntsman Club (Muntz, Clayton, Gaston, McLeach, Buldeo, Amos Slade, King Fergus)
Chairman Cutler Beckett of the East India Trading Co.
King Louis of the Kingdom of the Red Flower

Proposed expansions so far:
Things I ain't Even Tried: Magic for PCs
Gridlocked/Third Star to The Right/To Infinity and Beyond!: Modern/future stuff, mostly Pixar
Bad Bluth and Twisted Dreams: Non-Disney stuff
Twisted Toons: Self-explanatory
No Rest for The Wicked: More Villain stuff, playing a minor badguy
Under The Sea/A Pirate's Life: Adventures over and under the seven seas
Everybody Wants to be a Cat: more beasts stuff
Hellfire: a.k.a. the controversial expansion. Religion and cults, the struggle for the Mediterranean area or something like that.

Why would Stromboli be on pleasure island?

I think it would make more sense for him to be travelling on his caravan, rich beyond his wildest dreams and loaded up on various magical artifacts with which he tours with to put on shows to blow the minds of the audiences.
>>

Also we need something with Honest John and Gideon.

And Monstro.

I seem to remember Monstro was supposed to be one of the great sea monsters competing with or obeying Ursula, like the Kraken, the Leviathan and the Robo-shark. Are we gonna use movie Monstro or original Pescecane? The former is just a strangely aggressive whale, the latter is a motherfucking giant shark nicknamed "The Attila of fishes and fishermen".
>>
>>36722617

The second option seems much more in-keeping with our horrible little world, so I'd say use the second option.
>>
>>36722602
Seems fine, but I have some doubts about Let Us Talk This Out. Considering how fast paced combat is leaving most physical oriented character twiddling their thumbs for a minimum of 28 turns seem a bit harsh.
>>
>>36721017
>no subtitle
absolutely disgusting
>>
>>36722720

Yeah, I actually just realized that I forgot to put a subtitle. This is the subtitleless edition. My sincere apologies.

>>36722717
>>36722602

You're completely right. My brain must have shortcircuited because I did NOT do any sort of math when I set down that number. Cripes. What would you suggest to fix it? Maybe make the "time-out" a flat six or twelve rounds?
>>
>>36722833
Make it something like 10-12 turns plus an additional one for every 10 points over a TN of 20?
>>
Hey guys, since DVV is in its 53rd thread. I should post a thread about it in SB and/or SV. But, I wanna know how you guys think first.
>>
>>36722864
That seems reasonable, yeah. It gives Santa Anna time to do his song and dance without breaking up the flow of combat too badly. Thank you, I think that could work.
>>
>>36722929
You can try, but I fear the general reaction will be either apathy or overwhelming negativity. There is just something about classic Disney movies that seems to bring out the autism in a lot of people.
>>
>>36722929

I feel like a fool, but I don't recognize the abbreviations.
>>
>>36723047
The Spacebattles and Sufficient Velocity forums. They have large tabletop games communities but they aren't generally very friendly with 'channers.
>>
>>36723106

Ah, got you. Thanks for the clarification. I really do want us to share this project with others, but I worry about the "overwhelming negativity" that the other Anon above had suggested might be aimed our way. I mainly worry about folks trashing the Wiki, really. Maybe it would be better to wait to share until we get some form of PDF hammered out? I don't know.
>>
With Santa Anna in the canna (I'm sorry), who should I tackle next? I would update the Wiki but I'm on my phone and it won't let me.
>>
>>36723291
I'd say wait for the thread to fill up a little more and get some more opinions for now. I wouldn't be too worried about the wiki, we're not new to mass vandalism.
>>
>>36723412
Beckett, I would say.
>>
>>36723412
Louie, technically he's the last beast king left. Or one of the huntsmen.
>>
>>36723412
We still don't have Radcliffe somehow, despite him being one of the more important Kings.
>>
>>36723592
I could have sworn we had him. There was a big discussion over if he should have a cannon or not
>>
>>36723592
Yeas we do. He was in the 48th thread.
>>
>>36723658

Great memory you have!
>>
>>36723490

I feel like there ought to be some easy way of statting the Huntsmen, based on switching around the stats that each one is dominant in based on their roles and giving them similar trait and power pools but I don't know quite how it would work.
>>
>>36723658
I stand corrected.
>>
I'm almost due to leave work, but when I get home I think I'll begin work on the Huntsmen's stats. Maybe I'll be able to figure out an efficient way of doing it.
>>

Art-commissioner hopeful here. I'm at my main computer now and was just about to archive-dive and compile the character art and descriptions myself. I can handle that, so please don't stress yourself over that if it's too much of a bother.
>>
>>36725501
Well, if you're going to do it then it's fine I suppose.
Myself, Jeremiah and Lazarus are here:https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1357091/post-character-sheets-here-for-future-games#post-1390908
Hannah and Naacha here: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1348693/post-your-character-sheets#post-1349150
And Mary's only in-thread. Note that I had two different pictures for Sverd, one just because the armor was better. If you get a piece commissioned, it will be the second piece of art we ever got for DVV due to a severe deficiency of drawfags.
>>
>>36725613
Thanks so much for the links! I've been with this project from the beginning, and it'd be pretty cool to get a piece of art commissioned for DVV as a thank you for everyone's hard work. The Drawfriend in question is the one who's been doing this art in the latest drawthread:

>>36722010
>>36719789
>>36719937

He said that he'd charge $25 for a pretty polished piece, which seems reasonable to me.

Is there any sort of composition that you think would be good? I had considered a group shot with Hannah leaning against Sverd and Lazarus leaning against Mary so that the two are forced closer together, based on the DTP stories that have been written, but I'm open to any and all ideas.

And didn't we have an Allosaur?
>>
My entire fucking computer just bluescreened. Great.
>>36725836
Yeah, my bad, we did have Dino Kissinger instead of Naacha for the DTPs. You'd need to archive dive for him too.
>>

You mean Arthrodemus? Because he's in the character creation doc.
>>

Monstro was "a whale of a whale", though. Furthermore, consider his appearance: his teeth and the shape of his head point to him being a Livyatan Melvillei, an extinct species of sperm whale, but his underbelly and size say "blue whale". Perhaps Melvillei never went extinct in this word and he is a liger-like hybrid between the two, but then why does he chase after tuna? They're completely unsuitable prey for a toothed whale of that size!

Monstro is like the Kraken: dangerous, beyond explanation and probably the last of his kind.

Guys, what is the current situation in New Orleans? Facilier's K/L/R doesn't mention the city specifically, but I saw his plan for the city as being essentially fairly similar to the way it is, but with him at the head with people making bargains left and right, rather than a despotic voodoo dictatorship. (Also, this seems like it would be a much more interesting setting, as we already have plenty of dictatorships.) He promised his Friends "all the lost souls in the city", not just ALL the souls in the city, so it doesn't seem like he is just doing some sort of mass-sacrifice.

I have to step away again but here's what I've got so far for Sverd. The armor description is from his profile, and I remembered something about him having a locket with the Queen of Arendelle's picture inside. Are there any other little notices to tack onto this image? Mary's needed a bit more sprucing up to "Atlantify" her but I want each character to be depicted as accurately as can be managed.

I have to step away again but if any of you know of any artists you might like for this thing over that one I just happened to see in the drawthread, I'm open to suggestions. I don't have a crapdillion dollars to spend, but I don't want to cheap out on this either.

>>
>>36731030
>>36731423
Rasputin is currently lined up to be one of the major villains of the non-Disney expansion that will be done eventually, specifically this version; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ocm8QdNR_d8

>>36731838
ironically if we include HTTYD in the non-Disney supplement I'd suggest it being one of the few where the bad guys didn't win(they don't always have to win, just most of the time, as one of our earlier concepts for Pinocchio went) to provide one of a handful of spots of light in the setting(basically convincing the Riders of Berk to join you in taking down some of the other villains should be an important thing you can do in a campaign)
>>
>>36731953
The whole joke of that version of Pinocchio was that the Coachman is one of the only Disney villains to actually get off scot-free in the original. That doesn't happen in either HTTYD or its sequel, which both had defined antagonists who lost.
>>
so here's the current planned expansion list;

Things I ain't Even Tried: Magic for PCs

Gridlocked/Third Star to The Right/To Infinity and Beyond!: Modern/future stuff, mostly Pixar and Disney TV animated series

Bad Bluth and Twisted Dreams: Non-Disney stuff

Twisted Toons: Self-explanatory(will go heavily into Duck related matters, especially Scrooge McDuck and Darkwing Duck)

No Rest for The Wicked: More Villain stuff, playing a minor badguy

Under The Sea/A Pirate's Life: Adventures over and under the seven seas

Everybody Wants to be a Cat: more beasts stuff

Time to Light the Lights: Muppet Edition(might just be a part of the Twisted Toons supplement or the To Infinity And Beyond supplement)

we might want to start hashing out some of the basics for what will be included in each of them, so we don't get too confused later on

>>36732010
well true, but we do need a couple more obviously bright spots in the world(kinda like earlier proposals to have Maldonia and Corona be mostly unaffected by these events outside of Hans being the current ruler of Corona), also I just realized once we start adding the non-Disney stuff into the world, that Farquad(not sure how to spell his name) would probably be one of Frollo's most staunch allies in his crusade against magic(even if stat wise he'd probably be one of the single most pathetic villains in the setting)

Just wanted to say thanks for what you're doing, commissionfag. It'll be really cool to have an actual piece of art for the threads. Maybe you should ask to include some kind of DVV logo above the artwork? That way, we could use it as a sort of title art kinda thing.

We've all invested a lot of time, brain-power and as sappy as it sounds, heart into this project. Personally, I've done a bit of writing and a bit of crunching and more than a bit of slacking at my actual 9-5 job on account of DVV, but what I haven't and can't do is draw worth a damn. If I could then all our characters and bits of fluff would have been illustrated long ago. It's a shame we haven't attracted many artists over the course of the threads.

I'm really looking forward to this, and want to make sure all these characters are properly represented.

I like it.

Trait Ideas:
He's Got A Sword!: +2 to Intimidate as long as you are wielding a melee weapon.

If so mine's just a teenage Jackie Robinson in (somehow) high-tech umpire armor

Powers and equips in a bit

---Powers---
-Bubonic Master (Unique!)
Machlah can attack with nearly any number or combination of status effects. For each attack, Machlah can choose a status effect to use with it. Status effects also have an AoE of 5m.
-Poison
-Burning
-Freezing
-Stun
-Bleeding [Each action taken by bleeding unit causes them to lose 1 Robustness and Agility. Cannot be reduced to below 1.]
-Insanity [SAN LOSS. -2 to Intelligence and Sensibility, cannot be reduced to below 1.]
-Confusion [50% chance for attacks to hit allies]
-Plauge [Easiest one to endure, if not endured however, it causes all remaining Strikes to be reduced to zero on plauged unit's third turn.]
-Plauge Master
For one Will point, unit can summon 6 Spirits of Plauge in to 6 corpses. Spirits of Plauge are considered above-average Lackeys, with one more Strike than usual, and can inflict any of the status effects listed above.
-Grey Rider
Unit is or is a servant of Pestilence itself. After inflicting a status effect, there is a 33% chance unit can roll to inflict it again. For Apocalypse inflict a random status effect.
-Fill Me Up!/DOCTOR
For one Will point, unit can make a Science or Craft roll against TN35 to heal a chosen target for 5 Strikes.

---Equipment---
-Scalpel: Sharp. One-Handed, grants +1 to Melee.
-Syringe Rifle: Modified rifle to shoot syringes and regular bullets filled with poisons. Two-handed, grants +3 to Ranged.
-Grey Medical Practitioner's Clothes: Pretty fancy. Light Armor, grants +1 to Prevent Harm, Endure, Science, and Craft.

If Nob would prefer it, I've put together a much better character that I like much more to bring into the campaign rater than the bear that nobody liked.

>>36734863
Looks pretty good, but I'd recommend removing the +4 to deceit/persuade versus females thing. Two separate players having that trait and it's implications for roleplaying is too much and is gonna cause WAY too much overlap. The focus on music and intimidation is good for both crunch and fluff though, and he looks pretty good besides that. I'd definitely advise you to go more 'composed, intimidating guy who understands how people work and knows what to say' instead of 'bravado-filled frontline idiot'.
If you wanna break the build there's a +7 to intimidate trait you could take instead.

On a slightly racist note, I don't actually think Disney is capable of creating an attractive black male character. At least, nowhere near the levels of attractive of Naveen or Ryder.
>>
>>36734971
Don't call /pol/ on me for this but I don't actually think blacks can reach disney-level beauty. I don't wanna start a flame war or anything over this and am not gonna respond to anybody trying to start one, that's just my opinion from working for two years as a teacher for juvie prisons. The vast majority really just aren't attractive at all.

>>36732646
I was thinking more, that for playable Muppets, they'd be less durable and less able to warp the laws of nature than a Toon(still able to do it however), but they also don't have to be Funny all the time like most Toons are forced to be if they want to be at their most effective

>>36733093

>>36735095
Naveen is really obviously Iberian. He has absolutely no African features at all.
For that matter very few people in Princess and the Frog have African features, though. Everyone looks really heavily mixed at least, including Tiana. If Naveen was supposed to be part black Disney did a horrible job potraying it, he looks absolutely Iberian.
>>
>>36735119
Facilier is literally the only person in the entire film to have any sort of black features, and it's only because he has a short african nose while everyone else has a normal one. He has curly hair though which is weird and not african.
Disney is just literally incapable of making black people. they'd probably look incredibly weird if drawn in disney style tho

So how does this setting deal with the clearly variant time settings of the movies?

Is it on a timeline or what? Snow White clearly occurred centuries before Pocahontas, and Atlantis centuries after that. Are games to be set along a history with nations rising and falling depending on the time or is there some way it all happens at once?
>>
>>36735765

>>
>>36736163
Generally, it varies. Some have a strong consensus, while others are more flipfloppy. It's generally agreed that the divergence point for Arendelle was Anna failing to escape the palace, for instance, but with Aladdin, some people have the divergence point as early as the Cave of Wonders and other have it as late as the Prince Ali reprise.
>>
>>36736236
Sure.

I've just rewatched Atlantis, the turning point is kind of important to determine who's still alive as throughout the movie's climax he loses his supporting characters.

For example if the spanish one with the hips hadn't stayed with Milo, Rourke would still have the secondary characters in his mercenary squad and if Milo had been hit by a stray bullet in the big flying fight he wouldn't have them but he'd still have Helga as his sidekick.
>>
>>36736236
Pretty much this. It's left intentionally vague most of the time.
>>
>>36736300
As I remember, Atlantis is kind of an interesting case in the DVV universe. I believe that the turning point is essentially that instead of boxing the Kidagakrystal Heart of Atlantis up to sell to the highest bidder, he got ambitious and decided to take the whole city and all its magitech for himself. Making an impassioned argument to the Expedition and Atlanteans both that what's done is done, and with war raging on the surface above the world needs is a strong, rejuvenated Atlantis, he manages to take the wind out of Milo's sails and convince/bully him and the other more conscientious Expedition members into going along with his plans. Using Kidagakrystal's power, together they figure out how to raise Atlantis to the surface once more and reestablish it as a small but mighty sovereign nation above the waves.

The point at which the Imperial Republic of Atlantis enters into the DVV world is roughly twenty years after this occurs, at a time in which Atlantis has really come into its own in terms of its power and Rourke's ambition. This gives them enough time for their WWI-era super-tech and Atlantean crystal-tech to be effectively hybridized, and for a new generation of Atlantean-Americans to grow old enough to start adventuring.

so the body doesn't have Strikes but the legs do?
>>
>>36738836
If the Crabby Crew were attacking Atlantis's Home Island itself, I'm envisioning a full-scale land to sea battle taking place. The island's extensive artillery defenses, both conventional and lightning-based can't get a lock on the thing because it's an animal that moves quickly and randomly across shallows and farmlands and not predictably like a ship. The PCs must either:

>Use air and water craft to bring the attack to the Yamato Crab, striking at its legs to down it and keep it from marching on the city-proper.

>Infiltrate the ship itself, fighting the Crustacean Crew to reactivate and overload the ship's crystal powerplant and destroy it.
>>
So, seeing as I really want to stat this beast, what are we going to do stat-wise about cannons and things that really only be hurt/damaged by cannons? We could just take what we use for character combat and say Vehicle combat is the same thing just scaled up, with the numbers now representing greater values on the character scale, but what are we going to do when you point a cannon at a character?
>>

Why not both then, divide the party up into tow teams; one to slow the Crab down, the other to take out it's means to counterattack the ADF (Atlantean Defense Force)
>>
>>36739097

>>
>>36739063
Let's see here...Cannons and artillery could essentially be considered as entities with all their attribute points in Strong and Nimble, and all their skill points in Ranged. Here, Strength and Ranged work together to represent the hitting power of the unit's ammunition and Nimbleness represents how quickly and easily the unit can track its targets, or could be what the PCs must roll against to dodge incoming fire.

>Cannons and artillery could essentially be considered as entities with all their attribute points in Strong and Nimble, and all their skill points in Ranged.
Skills and Agility should probably come from the user, and there should be penalties on the attacking Agility roll that increase with range and cannon size and decrease with target size.

>>36739188
Ah, yes, the Leviathan. Ursula would need to throw everything she had at Atlantis to stand a fair chance.

For some reason, I had assumed that the Leviathan was built late in Ancient Atlantis' war against... whomever was around to fight them, before they dropped their crystaltech super-nuke. As such, there might be more around, buried in the cataclysm, and even a secret wartime facility lost out there somewhere that was responsible for building them. Behemoth, Leviathan and Ziz are a trio of monsters (though since Ziz is usually forgotten it's more of a duo) which are basically the biggest, scariest and most dangerous creatures, and they are all one of a kind. I'd say that the Atlantean machine-beasts of the same name are also one of a kind. I'd also say that there's no ONE facility that was responsible for building them; each would've taken the combined efforts of multiple specialized facilities to construct.

For reference, Ziz is always described as simply either a bird or a griffon, while Behemoth is a bit more vaguely described. Some put him as an elephant, crocodile, or water buffalo, but the hippopotamus is the most commonly accepted one. Granted, Leviathan was described as a sea serpent, but it's not like anyone who encountered him before the voyage of the Ulysses was able to get any sort of good look at him.

You know, I wish that Behemoth and Ziz were featured in that 3-part pseudo-sequel to Atlantis, just to see what they would've looked like if left up to Disney.

They could have just been war machines built by the Atlanteans, but it could also be that they were guarding Atlantis' sister cities. >They could have just been war machines built by the Atlanteans, but it could also be that they were guarding Atlantis' sister cities. I remember though that there was some talk of Opar (or whatever Queen La's capital is named) being of potentially Atlantean origin before La and her people took it over. Maybe the Behemoth got deactivated, or it was never activated in the first place and is buried there somewhere.
Leviathan lost it's flight capacity because of the crystal nuke; perhaps similarly Behemoth is active, but only malfunctioning processing part is preventing it from getting off it's shiny metal ass and wrecking everyone's shit.

>CRACK THEORY: The Firebird actually has the Atlantean Construct Ziz at it's core.
I prefer that the Firebird is simply a force of nature. However, native cultures all across North America have legends of the Thunderbird, so I'd say Ziz's usual haunt is somewhere in North America.

Also, some of these legends speak of the Thunderbird wrecking the shit of great evil snakes.....the warbeast-machines of Atlantis' mysterious enemies, perhaps?
>>
>>36740335
This is good development and I like it. I really like the pseudo-familial relations of the DTPs.
>>
>>36740128
>Opar (or whatever Queen La's capital is named) being of potentially Atlantean origin before La and her people took it over. Maybe the Behemoth got deactivated, or it was never activated in the first place and is buried there somewhere.

Maybe the cities CrystalTech all when down Overnight, What with the fall of Atlantis, and the jungle just, I dunno, grew over it, the residents would have been easy pickings for the local wildlife, without their Behemoth Ground Defense Unit or their defensive shield array
>>
>>36740386
8000 years is plenty of time for the jungle to take over, but I'm not sure that they wouldn't give the Behemoth it's own power supply as a contingency for situations like this.
>>
>>36740441
the defense network is tied to the cities Heart right?

well, what happens if the cities Heart stops working
>>
>>36740486
That might just be the shields. It would make sense for the big war machines to have redundant power systems so that they're not completely defenseless when the grid goes down.
>>
>>36740514
Maybe the backlash shorted out its movement systems, and the hover system was too power draining
>>
>>36740561
>the endless torment of the Behemoth's AI
>I have no functioning movement systems, and I must wreck shit.
But then
>repairing the Behemoth's movement systems
>upsetting the balance of world power with the Mechanics skill
>Heroic Goal achieved
>>
>>36740639
Yeah Behemoth was probably the first Atlantean Defence Unit actually manufactured, they probably hadn't worked out all of the kinks
>>
>>36740683
Mean't to add 'model' to that
>>
>>36740639
Open Arborealis was always good with AI's
>>
>>36740683
Would Leviathan have been the second or third, with Ziz being the third or second? On one hand, you'd think that a really good flyer would be more complex than a submarine that can also hover, on the other hand what could possibly be so important that you'd guard it with your most advanced model while only guarding your city with your second most advance model? A facility key to making even more advanced war machines?
>>
>>36740837
>Ziz is actually an ancient satellite that keeps Earth protected from intergalactic invaders
>The space expansion starts when Ziz breaks down and the Earth is defenseless
>>
>>36740873
Space expansion I assume is going to be based on Treasure Planet.
>>
>>36740873
>Ziz is actually an ancient satellite that keeps Earth protected from intergalactic invaders
>He comes down to Earth sometimes, why else would the authors of Genesis have known about him?
>However, he is seen much less often than Behemoth or Leviathan, and is never seen wrecking anyone's shit, so he is mentioned far less often, thought of as less important and forgotten even by most people who also know of Behemoth and Leviathan.
It makes perfect sense.

Commissioner here. This is sort of what I've been picturing for her character so far, though I haven't found an image yet of the sort of, noble but travel-worn dress I can imagine her wearing.

If her player stops in and sees this, please let me know if I'm right or totally wrong.
>>
>>36740960
Treasure Planet, Buzz Lightyear, WALL-E, a bit of everything futuristic made by Disney and/or Pixar.
>>
>>36741176
There was some talk of potentially including WALL-E in the Modern expansion, but it would probably fit better into the Future expansion. What do you fellows feel about allowing there to be a small, perhaps Borderlandsy population of robot and human holdouts on Earth after Buy n' Large trashed the place?
>>
>>36741176
>>36741209
Not sure about any of this, but I would like to point out that superheroes, on flimsy pretexts but ultimately because it's a cool change of scenery, go into space all the time. Now clearly, the Incredibles are reserved for the Modern expansion and not the Future expansion, but that begs the question of what they might encounter when they go into space. Yes, it obviously be the forerunners of some Future villains, but what would they be like?
>>
>>36741372
That really is a good question. I'm not sure myself.

There's only one Disney movie with superheroes in it, two if we count the sequel that hasn't come out yet. I don't think that's enough material to warrant an entire expansion.

This is getting a bit OC here, isn't it? Like, we have no indication that the other two Beasts exist.
>>
>>36741912
I suppose not, but on the other hand it's not like it's illogical and against the spirit of the setting that they would exist.
>>
>>36741912
We had no indication that Frollo was a litch or that Slim could hypnotize animals other than cows either
>>
>>36741912
Right. It just started off as speculation on there being three great Atlantean constructs to match the three great biblical beasts, but the idea may have run away from us and the source material a bit.
>>
>>36741981
That's true, but this reeks as a runaway thread here. We're not talking about anything disney related except for a marginal construct in Atlantis which is somehow being shoehorned into being this big spooky thing behind everything.

Also, I have no idea why Frollo is a lich.

>>36741974
It's... kind of getting there, knight. The only basis we have for there being three beasts is the "Leviathan" being named similarly to a hebrew myth. Also, why would Cherrybomb let these things continue to exist if they're ALL POWERFUL and could THREATEN HIS REIGN?
>>
>>36742023
Oh, yeah, super sentai mode is out of the question. Not even a joke boss. I was just saying that it wasn't illogical for Behemoth and Ziz to exist at all.

Also, I'm writing up a villain PC who's top tier goal is to find and gain control of Behemoth and use it to rule over the entire African continent like an angry god.
>>
>>36742023
well, Leviathan cannot leave its patrol routes, Ziz hasn't been decided on yet and Behemoth is covered by 8000 years of jungle, that good enough for you Nob
>>
I cannot believe this started from me mentioning the Yamato crab
>>
>>36742050
>>36742045
But why do they need to exist? We have no indication they do other than Disney naming a property something similar to a myth that is likely completely unrelated. This is literally pulling a magical plot twist out of our ass. We're literally adding things for the sake of adding things now.
>>
>>36739251
You have a point with Ursula vs Atlantis. Both are in the ocean, with no clear boundaries.

What if we put Atlantis and the Leviathan in the Atlantic and put Ursula in the Pacific?
>>
>>36742085
don't look at me, ask Knight
>>
>>36742085
Save them for an Atlantis focused expansion then?
>>
>>36742085
I agree that putting perfectly functional and all-powerful Atlantean superweapons everywhere is a bad idea, but can we at least leave the Yamato Crab with its crabman crew as one of Ursula's secret weapons?
>>
>>36742023
I agree that the thread's come a little bit off the rails. There's been a few good ideas and concepts here and there but conversation's drifted more toward idle wonderings and musings without a whole lot of direction. On my end, I know that it's partially due to my not being able to focus my attention fully on the thread with my own real-life tasks and errands that I've been attending do while waiting for more posters to filter back in. I've been trying to work on my commission compilation as well, but that's really just ancillary fluff, useful as a periodic bump and not worth talking to much about otherwise. Sorry about that.
>>
>>36741757

http://youtu.be/z0hYcSTS1IQ?t=15m48s
>>
>>36742124
I do think that the Yamato Crab is still a neat idea for a potential threat to Atlantis-Proper if tensions between Ursula and Rourke ever shift from "cold war" to "hot war." We just have to be careful not to invent too much content whole-cloth without tying it to the source material.
>>
>>36741912
Super sentai mode's just a joke, making anything out of it.
It would kinda make sense for there to be a Behemoth and Ziz robit if there was a Leviathan one too though.
>>
>>36742353
*not making anything out of it
>>
>>36742353
But Leviathan is just a name given to it by people who don't understand it, and Behemoth/Ziz only exist in HEBREW MYTHOLOGY, not necessarily a universal truth, especially in the Disneyverse.
>>
>>36742392
I thought the Atlantians were the one's who called it Leviathan?
Unless I'm remembering wrong
I haven't seen Atlantis or really any Disney movie in the last 2-3 years.
>>
>>36742392
There's some shit in the pseudo-sequel that implies that all cultures are derived from Atlantis, so it's plausible that the biblical Leviathan is a broken telephone version of the actual one. If that is the case, then it's also plausible that Behemoth and Ziz are broken telephone versions of other Atlantean war machines.

Of course, if they didn't exist, it would be a trivial Deceit check for Milo to convince Rourke that they do and send him on a wild goose chase of epic proportions.
>>
>>36742493
Seems like a bit of a stretch. I like the idea of Milo making it up to deceive Rourke, though. Let's go with that.
>>36742490
I thought the expedition called it that? My sister forced me to watch it a week ago after I told her I hadn't watched a disney movie in 10 years.

I have heard far too many songs over the last week for me to ever sleep peacefully again.
>>
>>36742493
>>36742534
What about a compromise solution? Behemoth was an Atlantean war-machine that may or may not have survived the war; and getting it in working order would be an undertaking even more complex that repairing the damage to Leviathan, even if it survived.

Ziz on the other hand doesn't have stories about it wrecking shit because it was never actually finished, perhaps not even started. The last and most powerful of the massive war machines, Ziz was in the planning or prototyping stage when the war ended. A document somewhere or a partially finished and not at all functioning framework is all that there is. You could hypothetically finish Ziz, just like you could hypothetically make more leviathans, but you would need to rebuild Atlantean manufacturing all the way back up to the level of the original Empire to do it.
>>
>>36742534
I haven't seen it since it first came out on DVD, but the Shepherd's Journal calls it Leviathan, and it was written long, long before the Bible, so there's a good chance it was the Atlanteans who named it Leviathan.

Also, I would have to ask myself exactly what Milo's goal would be in leading Rourke on a goose chase.
>>
>>36742625
I think that this is a good compromise. It doesn't leave Atlantean superweapons scattered willy-nilly across the globe but leaves the possibility of Atlantean Construct plotlines that could be picked up or ignored. It's just some flavor and we don't have to hang any hopes on them.
>>
>>36742737
Keep it hidden in the background somewhere if possible. the focus of an Atlantean campaign should be politics and trying to sway the atlantean public, not 'can we gather the resources to make this massive war machine'. The first seems more disney than the second, somehow.

>>36742637
>milo's goal
To make life as hard for Rourke as possible without removing himself from a position of 'too important to remove'.

>>36742625

>>

>the focus of an Atlantean campaign should be politics and trying to sway the atlantean public, not 'can we gather the resources to make this massive war machine'.
I'll take "Roleplay Means To Murderhobo Ends" for 400, Alex.

On a more serious note, have you yet found character art for Runs With Coyotes? Because if you have, I've spent my whole afternoon looking through pictures of Plains Indian women for nothing. Not that there aren't many, many worse ways to spend an afternoon.....
>>
>>36742763
Oh, definitely. I'm imagining the Atlantean Trio as background fluff, history lessons or rumors or whatnot. An Atlantean campaign should be all about swaying the hearts and minds of her people and her President toward the cause of good.

The only time I would actually involve the constructs in any sort of plot would be after the PCs have Atlantis on their side and are looking for weapons to help them combat Chernobog in the endgame.
>>
>>36742886
Not yet. Trying to map out the bandit camp and another, undisclosed location at the moment.
>>
>>36742889
>The only time I would actually involve the constructs in any sort of plot would be after the PCs have Atlantis on their side and are looking for weapons
If Opar really is Atlantis' sister city and Behemoth its long broken guardian, I'd consider repairing it a means to utterly and probably literally crushing Queen La. Of course, it wouldn't be long before Atlantis was all over your ass....

I crown you king. Good Job King Drawfag.
>>
>>36750702
Hmmm. IC you guys are pretty good (Except for Ponderous trying to force a love triangle and putting himself purposefully in a weird spot against Sverd, he needs to cut that shit out), but your OOC is a bit concerning. Mainly being that Ponderous seems to have some major issues with Knightfag and Sverd for no apparent reason and you kind of stacked odds against Sverd with regard to character development. By not acting on his history, calling him out for only valuing fun and making normally comical actions dangerous you've pigeonholed him against any sort of character development, and you need to make sure Runs goes into at least one of these next session, preferably both. In addition, there's too much ooc clutter in there, you should bring it to oovoo or something. The OOC group dynamics feel to me like there's an element of regular TTRPG roleplaying you guys have that you shouldn't. It's nobledark, and still very much disney. trying to make characters rational and logical in all or even most things like a 'good' D&D party does should not be the driving force behind a DVV party, and that's something that most people in this playtest seem like they forgot this session.
>>
>>36751221
There's a lot more OOC. I'm going to try to edit it further in the next few drafts.

Also, hopefully this is advice for them because I can't really do much. Runs is just tsundere, and in particular was taking great personal (possibly sadistic?) enjoyment in watching Pond and Sverd suffer.

>>36751295
Making her a sadist isn't a good direction to go in at all, making her angry P&F style is. I'm not sure why Ponderous was trying to put himself into that dynamic, but it's not somewhere he should be at all. Give him a waifu in Louisiana if he's so desperate for virtual pussy he's willing to disrupt playtesting and screw up established dynamics we're trying out for it.

You're completely right. D&D instincts die hard, and even as one of the more sensible characters it was difficult to put them away. Also, what is this P&F you speak of?

From what I can see, we're still getting used to specific feel of the setting and of the party dynamics. I imagine things will begin to run more smoothly after playing a little longer. As for Sverd, railroading his character development I feel is rather necessary. It's one thing to be a brash and headstrong youth with a disposition toward hedonism, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he needs to be played as a 4 year old with a superiority complex.
>>
We're on page 8 of the catalogue so someone is going to need to start a new thread post-haste.
>>
>>36751580
No, I mean that you didn't railroad his character development, you instead prevented it. Because Nobody didn't have Runs bring up his history/lying or his only valuing fun, and no one else in the group did, you ensured that he was unable to move out of his 'Pre-help' zone. Thankfully because you guys set him up like you did with Runs and not in a more retarded way, it can be fixed next session relatively easily when she does in fact bring up Virginia/Fun. As far as 'four year old with a superiority complex' - that kind of mindset is precisely what I was talking about with TTRPG 'regular' habits. A character like the one being played would be a 'bad' character in a 'normal' TTRPG setting, but because he was specifically made for this one, he is in fact a very, very 'good' one. Look at Flyn Ryder and his developments, Ryder is considerably more of a straight-up malicious, superior asshole at the start of the film, which is exactly the way Nicholas is being played. He would be a 'bad' character if there was a refusal to develop the character, but that can only be done really well if Runs with Coyotes brings up what actually matters with his personality, not the weird ganging-up thing you did this session. But, as I said, making him act as a 'servant' under her for next session was a good way to move into character development for the next session.

It's too fun drawing for you guys to call it work.

If you see this in the morning, can you do Hannah and/or Sverd next? I think they would look cute drawn. I really like how you're drawing them.

You seem to be white-knighting Sverd a bit hard. He's a grown adult and can take care of himself. He pissed off a lady, which is why she's not so interested in flirting with him at the moment.
>>
>>36751773
It was actually only at the end of the session that I started to get annoyed with Nick ooc. Before that, he was playing a completely legitimate way for his character. He'll, even the show off horse race was fine. But it was the "flirt by throwing shit in her face and trying to play it off when it turned out to be explosives and then go back and do pretty much the same thing to the whole party" which sent me over. That at best is straight out of /rk9/'s dating manual, and is completely out of character, even for an almost lovable antihero rogue.

Also I don't buy that someone getting shot would say that it was fun. Even with a slightly psychopathic notion of what is fun.

Excellent. Excellent.

>>36752126
Hey Nob, would you like me to start the next thread, or did you have designs on it?
>>
>>36752126
I'm just commenting on the playtesting. It's a pretty important experience for the setting in general.

Also, reminder that angerlove/ falling in love with someone who has advantage over you is a disney staple.
>>
>>36752181
Well, you do have a point about that, but I think the intent there was to make her angry to cause character development. She was seemingly somewhat getting along with Nick's showboating character, which isn't the direction it was intended to go in, and doing something irresponsible and stupid would be a good way to correct that. It's something that you should get mad for IC, but getting mad OOC for an act like that really doesn't make sense. It's a good course of action from an ooc prespective.

I need to check the playtest again for that, gimme a sec. Saying that getting shot was fun sounds in tune with trying to play everything up in his favor, however.
>>
>>36752326
I wasn't super pissed or anything like that. His hijinks were just getting old, and his ability to evade everything was really annoying. I was also hyperbolizing a bit when I said we railroaded his character development. I don't expect him to change overnight, but rather to force him in a position which would iron out his more disruptive character traits.
>>
>>36752186
Go for it.
>>36752205
Sure. She was just taking a bit of enjoyment in their suffering and hoping to see them react when she talked to Archer instead.
>>
Well gents, I'm about to crash on my keyboard. I'll leave you with one more reminded that this thread is about to fall off the board and another needs to be made.

Always a pleasure!

I'm on it.
>>
>>36752487
Alright, that sounds quite reasonable. As I said before, even though I believe the situation was somewhat poorly handled this session, you all have set up a good scenario for the next one, with a better and wider focus too.
>>36752511
Drawfag, pls, you have forgot your picture. I must see it.

Also I moved Mary's eye so it's a bit more symmetrical. I'd fix a dozen other things, but I'm just gong to draw more of her and the rest tomorrow. Night everybody!
