You are Lillian bond, former leader of El Presidente's feared Escuadra De Amazonas. When the Americans started bombing your country, and the rebels started busting down the doors to El Palacio Presidencial, you did the smart thing and sold him out to the CIA.
Now the Company wants your girls to do another dirty job for them. Infiltrate a small island republic in the south china sea and make sure the winds of war blow westward.

Since your arrival things have been going from bad to worse. A poorly planned attack on a small motorized patrol has brought the force of the Royal Spratly Army down hard on a local fishing village. The men have all been taken away by an armoured convoy, and the fishing boats have been destroyed by an RSN Corvette. Needless to say, the rebels are very unhappy with your actions and demand an explanation.

>Sorry last episode got cut short because 4chan went down. I'm picking up where we left off last time.

With all the men from the village gone, the highest ranking rebellion representative in the area is the girl you saw walking on the beach when you first arrived on Spratly. She's actually a bit younger than Suzuka, but she carries herself like an adult, and right now she seems to be very angry about what happened to her brothers. The fact that you have been hesitant to come clean about your employer isn't helping things either.

"You have two options right now." She tells you. "First, you can leave and continue to do what you were doing, trying to take on the entire army by yourselves. As soon as you are gone, I will call them, and tell them that the patrol was attacked by foreign spies, and that this village has always been loyal to the government."

There is a long pause while she lets the implications sink in. Even if she didn't rat you out, several of the men captured might also be able to identify you as such. "Or..." She continues "You can tell me the truth, and I'll take you to the Rebels you haven't screwed over yet. They can decide what to do with you. We aren't above collaborating with foreigners. I don't care if you are CIA, DIA*, Triads, Yakuza, or whatever, But if you are going to insist on lying to everyone you meat and acting like dumb tourists with guns, then you leave us with no choice."

>Lie and say you are working for an eccentric Taiwanese billionaire.

If those men get interrogated, we'll be found out anyway. And we will need the help of the rebels to stop the convoy.
I don't see either choice being good, but obviously our ability to lie isn't good enough.

>Apologize and Tell her the truth about working for the CIA.
>>

"We're here to keep the Chinese from taking over. Our employer was very specific about that, but would prefer to remain anonymous."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that is our job here, yes?
>>
>>36726424
That is more or less your mission. Lexi was rather vague on exactly how you were supposed to accomplish this. You imagine Zarah would be even more frustrated with her than she is with you.

If you ever bothered to recharge or even check the phone she gave you, you imagine she might be able to give you more specific instructions.
>>
>>36726465
I'll try to remember to bring the phone charging thing up when its appropriate.

I'll stand by my post of partial truth.
>>
>>36726465
>If you ever bothered to recharge or even check the phone she gave you
Okay, new plan.
We need to find a solar charger, new batteries, or a place with electricity to recharge the sat phone and get an update as well as tell Alex that the mission has hit some snags.

But first we need to decide whether to tell Zarah who we work for or not. That seems to be what she wants to know, more than why we're here.
I think we need more Burn Notice, less Rambo.

Wouldn't calling the Army and telling them that foreign spies were involved be in the Rebel's best interests anyway?
If the Army is told that the spies are men, and were seen taking the jeep further into the jungle, and we make it look like the jeep was abandoned and they further went on foot, wouldn't that also be to our benefit as well?

Give the Army a false trail away from the cave, and maybe the men will be returned without questioning.

Though given what we've seen, the Army seems more likely to still question them just to be sure.

Your leadership II gives you the following insights into her personality.

She's not fully comfortable with her position as a resistance leader at the age of 16. As such, she's trying to act tougher than she really is. She'll probably believe the half truth, but she won't like not being able to talk to your boss, and if she finds out you liked, that will cause serious problems.

"Central American. Don't lump us in with the USA. We have a sat phone that can get you in touch with our hirer, but it needs electricity."

"Central american" You correct her proudly. "Don't lump us in with those Gringos. We were sent here by an american woman, but were just mercenaries, and she didn't give us much in the way of support. If you have a problem with the way we've been doing things, we can put you in touch with her." You explain. "She gave us a Satellite phone, but we have no electricity."

Zara takes this in, and her expression starts to warm up a bit, but she still tries to maintain a serious facade. "Well, bring us the phone." She says in her best resistance leader voice. "There's a generator in the bar, the army hasn't destroyed that yet."

>Leave with Suzuka and get the phone.

She can probably move faster by herself.

Also, how are we going to keep the men from being questioned?
Should we try to send the Army on a wild goose chase?
>>
You pull our the throat mic and contact Natalya. "I need a sitrep out there."

"There's an army checkpoint, two technicals and several soldiers at the top of the hill, and a gunboat parked on the docks. What's going on inside, you vanished."
"We've met with the resistance, I'm sending Suzuka back to the cave to get the phone."

>You and Tericia stay in position, continue to monitor the area.
>Return to base with Suzuka, we can't risk you getting caught.

>>
Natalya gives a very unenthusiastic "Rodger" she seems to not appreciate this kind of duty. You hope she and Teri will be okay.

After emptying it onto the table, you hand the basket to Suzuka and tell her you have a special mission. "I want you to go back to the cave and get the phone. On your way back, drop some food off for Teri and Nat."

Suzuka responds with a very serious (and adorable) salute.

>Kiss her on the forehead.

>>
>>36727974
You smile and kiss her on the forehead, which causes her to smile before stepping out to sneak away into the forest. She's a master of jungle warfare, there is no way the Army would intercept her. And without the rest of you to slow her down she'll move even faster. And even if she is caught, she'll look like a local going into the forest to gather fruit, not a foreign spy.
>>
Alright, I'm going to make dinner. Quest will resume in a few hours. Feel free to ask questions and discuss things until then. I'll answer when I get back.
>>
>>36728301
What decade does this quest roughly take place in?
>>
>>36728371
Late 2020s.
Any particular question about the current world powers?

The US is in decline.
Putin is slowly reclaiming the former soviet states. Canada and Russia are arguing over who owns the arctic circle.
India and China are emerging superpowers and both engaging in proxy wars over rare earth metals.
Most cars run on bio-diesel or batteries.
>>
>>36728603
What about the availability of solar chargers?
What about cell coverage and signal interception tech?
Could we get burner phones on this island without being intercepted?
>>
>>36729216
Solar panels exist, as do batteries. The bar gets it's juice from a generator rigged out of an old boat motor though.

Cell phones can be intercepted, you aren't sure how good the RSA is at that. You do know the phone Lexi gave you has an encrypted satellite connection. Your throat mics are also safe, not only are they encrypted, but their short range makes it harder to detect them. Burner phones might be a good idea for longer range transmissions, you could buy some in the market, but again, you have no idea how safe it would be.
>>
Okay I'm back.

You wait in the bar as it starts to get dark outside. Zara has taken the job of bartender now that the old one is gone. Unfortunately the bar's patrons now include off duty members of the squad guarding the village. With their main source of income cut off, the girls now have no choice but too serve the soldiers if they don't want to starve.

Republica los Platanos. I think I said it used to be part of the Brazilian empire, but gained independence around the same time Uruguay. It's located somewhere north of Brazil. Probably where the Guyanas and Suriname are IRL. In this universe, the word Banana republic specifically comes from here. It was controlled by fruit companies almost since gaining independence, until a civil war in which El Presidente took control (with the help of your friendly local CIA.)

He was the typical CIA backed military dictator, and the PCs are the remnants of his Qaddafi style personal bodyguard harem after the CIA lost patience with him and started backing the rebels instead.

I'm not really sure if they'd speak English or Portuguese there, so I've been mashing them together clumsily, using Google translate, and asking a Brazilian friend to check for me. The results are as you can see.
>>
>This could be an opportunity. whore yourself out and see what you can overhear.

You wait for the soldiers to get really drunk and step out of the back office. There are several junior enlisted being served by several topless local women. Zara is at the bar, and seems to be doing her best job to keep them boozed into passivity. You might be able to pass for local in this state, and if not, they might not remember you in the morning.

As you emerge Zara flashes you a 'What the hell are you doing?' look, but you reply with a glance of your own which tells her silently that you can handle a few drunk soldiers.

>Try to talk to the girls.
>Flirt with the junior enlisted.
>Try to get friendly with an NCO.
>>
>>36730385
So, right after the Army took away all the men, and sunk all the fishing boats, and there are two squads of soldiers with a gunboat for support, you want get into a fight with them.
The rest of our team isn't even here to provide tactical support.

That's one I the most stupid things posted yet.

>>36730868
Think better of it and slip back and hide.
This is a terrible idea, and being impatient already fucked up our meeting with the Rebels.
>>
>>36730868
>Try to talk to the girls.
If we're going through with this, make sure we're doing it from the right angle. How long until Setsuka gets back?
>>
>>36731036
You don't know. It takes almost an hour to get to the village, but Suzuka is faster than the rest of you. However that's during the day. Too many confounding variables.
>>
>>36731036
We don't HAVE to go through with this.
And going to the locals who will be able to tag us as the foreigner that appeared right before the attack on the Army that cost them their men and fishing boats seems like a pretty bad idea.

What are you going to ask them, anyway.
>>
>>36731112
Fine, we'll hang back. Still, knowing this, one of those juniors will probably make a pass at us anyway.
>>
>>36731243
That's why we can go back into the back office.
Actions have consequences, even if our weapons operate loosely on action movie logic.
>>
Zara keeps staring at you, and you decide to back down and hide in the back.

You can pass for a local in a crowd, but it wouldn't hold up in intimate contact. Maybe this would work in the city, but in a small town like this, they'd recognize an unfamiliar face. Maybe Suzuka could pull it off, but not you.
Fortunately the soldiers are too drunk to notice you, and you manage to peep through gaps between the boards that make up the walls.

The girls are outnumbered by the soldiers, and things get dirty fast, the soldiers quickly lose their pants, and everyone gets a turn in each of the bar girl's holes. Zara manages to maintain her composure, serving drinks and listening for any information that might be useful to the rebellion, but it looks like the other girls are over their heads. You imagine all women in this town might end up like this soon.

>Continue watching and masturbate.

You remove your eye from the crack and put your ear up to the wall instead. Listening from the other room you hear lots of exagerated orgasmic moaning from the girls, and lots of boasting from the guys. "This is perfect! They can't say no to us!" "We have the whole town to ourselves now." "So much better than masturbating in garrison!" "Definitely coming back every night!" "Hey, sarge, can we conscript the whole town to be comfort women like the Japs did back in the great war?"

Listening to it only teaches you that these guys are pigs, even compared to El Presidente's men. But you tell yourself that soon enough you'll get a chance to fix this.
>>
After some time, Natalya's voice buzzes into your inner ear over the throat mic. "Suzuka is on her way back"

A few minutes latter you feel a tap on your shoulder and the cell phone drops into your lap.. Man, she's been getting good at this. In this light, her eyes are almost reflective like a cats. It's kind of spooky.

>Wait for the men to pass out drunk or leave, then give the phone to Zara.
>Send Suzuka in to replace Zara.
>Leave the phone for Zara and exfiltrate the area.
>>
>>36732181
It's probably too late for rescuing the Army convoy with the village's men.
We should assume that we've been made, and stay away from any non-Rebel-held towns.

You put your finger over your lips to tell Suzuka to be silent, and then almost immediately feel foolish. She's always been quieter than you.
You press your ear back to the wall to listen to more fake orgasms, and Suzuka curls up next to you, almost immediately falling asleep on your lap.

Long after midnight Zara kicks the last of the men out of her bar and closes up shop before coming back to wake you up. You aren't sure when you fell asleep, and feel slightly embarrassed to be caught like this.

You wake Suzuka up and Zara leads you down into the basement. You should be able to hide here, and plug in your phone. But you shouldn't leave anything that would attract any attention should the army decide to do a search.

As you plug the phone in, it powers to life, and you see that there is one new message,

"Hey gals, lexi here. It's been a long time since we talked. Give me a call if you're in the area."

>Write in your response.
>>
>>36733112
"Hex Lexi, the new leader of the Spratly rebels wants to talk with you, and it's kinda urgent"
>>
>>36733112
"Got into a firefight with the Army during insertion. They don't half-ass anything; they took all the men from a village, the Rebels aren't happy about it. The leader of this cell wants to talk with the person who hired us, before they introduce us to the other cells."

Most essential information, and doesn't reveal anything about our employer in case Zara is listening.
>>
>>36733254
As Zara reads over your shoulder, you start to tap out.
>"Hex Lexi, the new leader of the Spratly rebels wants to...
"Hey, I'm not a leader of anything," She says in protest as she tries to yank it out of your hands.
>"Hex Lexi, the new leader of this cell wants to talk with the person who hired us."

Then you press send. Dubai is four hours behind you, and it's almost morning here, she probably won't reply until around noonish. You should...

>Go back the the cave leaving the phone with Zara. It's unlikely to attract attention as it's indistinguishable from a normal phone.
>Wait here but send Suzuka to relieve Tericia and Natalya, they've been hiding in the woods all night by themselves.

>Wait here but send Suzuka to relieve Tericia and Natalya, they've been hiding in the woods all night by themselves.

"I'm sending Suzu to relieve you, I'll be waiting for lexi to call us back. What's it look like up there?"

"Fucking dark, I can't see a thing I want you to know I hate you for this. That's two nights in a row sleeping in the dirt. You're just lucky it hasn't rained y.." you pull the ear-bud out and turn to Suzuka. "Help them get back to the cave, and then come back to pick me up around noon tomorrow.

The throat mics require line of sight (thin walls and brush notwithstanding) to work, so you won't have any way of contacting the rest of the squad until Suzuka gets back. Buying levels of recon for the rest of the squad might be handy here.
>>
>>36733991
>Buying levels of recon for the rest of the squad might be handy here.
Is there a limit to the number of Skills we can have? I thought you said that there was an upper limit.
>>
Assuming that there isn't a limit to the number of Skills, I'm thinking that at least Nat should take Recon.

With her Doktor skill, also having Recon will let her move through the jungle to where she's needed quickly.

OP, besides the ability to easily navigate through jungles and other dense terrain, what other things does Recon bring to the table?
>>
>>36733991
Guess we're staying with Zara. We can talk to her and the ladies of the night, right?
>>
>>36734049
A new skill costs the number of skills and traits the character already possesses.
Currently a new skill will cost two points for Lillian, and three points for Everyone else.
Old skills can be forgotten to reduce the cost of new skills, but the points already spent will not be refunded.

Existing skills can be leveled up for a cost equal to the current value of that skill.

A character has to be present to earn XP.
Some plot events might reduce the cost of new skills for specific characters. (IE, I might give Nat and Teri a discount on recon if you keep torturing them like this)

>>36734103
These are the combat skills I have introduced so far.

Recon lets you navigate jungles, observe enemy movements undetected, and make accurate long ranged single-shot attacks.

Operator lets you maintain situational awareness in urban environments, and effectively use of suppressing fire and automatic weapons in close quarters combat.

CQC/Brawling lets you disarm and disable attackers in close quarters, even if they are physically larger or better armed than you are.

Gunkata lets you dual wield pistols and light SMGs to quickly mow down large numbers of mooks at close range.

Ninja lets you move silently in any environment and eliminate enemies with blades or silenced weapons at close range.
>>
>>36734204
>and the ladies of the night, right
That sounds like a very bad idea.
>>
>>36734246
Also noncombat skills. Both lists are constantly in flux and new skills can be added or removed at any time.

Airborne lets you use a parachute and or repel out of a helicopter properly.

Marine/Pirate lets you swim and negates penalties for moving/fighting on boats.

Driver lets you do crazy stunts with cars and negates penalties for shooting while driving.

Pilot lets you fly planes.

Mechanic and Medic let you fix machines and people respectively.

Hacker lets you type really fast and use computers as plot devices.
>>
>>36734337
>Mechanic and Medic let you fix machines and people respectively.
What's Nat's Doktor skill, then? Just a better version of Medic?
>>
>>36734259
They would know a lot about what's going on with the Army.
>>
>>36734356
It's a TF2 joke. It works exactly like Medic.
>>
>>36734361
Not these women, since this town wasn't really visited by the Army until today when we got all of their men taken away and all of their fishing boats sunk. And we were listening in on the soldiers as they fucked the women, and they didn't say anything useful.

The women will see us as the foreigner who showed up right before the Army destroyed the village's livelihood. You're assuming they're stupid enough to not make the connection, when that's really not the case.
>>
>>36734416
I thought there were regular patrols around the area. But you are right, let's not go with that.
>>
Oh yeah, I guess I'll also allow refunds on newly bought skills IFF the skill has not yet been used.
Tericia could unlearn Marine I and Natalya could unlearn operator. Doing either would free up 2xp each.

As for right now. I think I'll hold off on Alexis' reply until the normal quest time tomorrow. But you can spend XP now.
>>
>>36734550
>Nat unlearn Operator
That seems pretty unwise, since we ARE mercs, and we expect to get into fights with Chinese special forces and more Army soldiers.

>Teri unlearn Marine
This is an island, and being able to swim well while weighed down and being able to handle boats seems like something we're going to wish we had kept in the future if we unlearn it now.

Maybe it would be better if we kept Teri and Nat on overwatch duty so that they learn Recon at a reduced cost instead.
>>
>>36734550
So that was the last update of the night?

They won't appreciate it, and putting them on overwatch duty without it might cause issues. Right now they are mostly just lucky nobody came looking their direction, otherwise they would have been spotted.

>>36734682
Yeah, but I'll stay up to answer questions.
>>
If all the men from the village were captured, who's left? Some male Rebels in tunnels or the like and the female Rebels?
>>
>>36734796
This is not the only village on the island. Most of the rebellion here were just spies or reserves. Arresting all the men is probably counterproductive to the army's goals of pacifying the island. The real bulk of the rebels forces are in the highlands and deeper jungles where the Army is afraid to go.

>Right now they are mostly just lucky nobody came looking their direction, otherwise they would have been spotted.
Can we use equipment and items to give people temporary bonuses that mimic parts of skills?

Like, if we get Nat and Teri a camo net, blankets to lie on, and use bits of foliage to break up their silhouettes and the shapes of their weapons, and have Suzu pick out a good vantage point for them, could they get the "observe enemy movements undetected" perk from the Recon skill, so long as they don't attack or move from their position?
They still can't navigate jungles, or get boosts to their accuracy with long ranged single-shot attacks, only staying undetected as long as they don't move to another area.

Yes, having expensive gear is always nice. But it can also cause new problems of it's own if you rely on it.

Teri and Nat hiding under a cammo net will still be more conspicuous than Suzuka laying naked in the mud.

>Teri and Nat hiding under a cammo net will still be more conspicuous than Suzuka laying naked in the mud.
Yeah, but getting them the Recon skill may be worth it.
And while still more conspicuous, it only needs to be just enough, not perfect.

Maybe we can do things to make it harder to be seen.
We probably can't ourselves a real camo net, so we'll need to improvise.

A canvas sheet/tarp, with mud and dirt plastered on it to make it look like soil. Sew on local plants so that it looks like a natural part of the ground.
Tie canvas strips interspersed with plants to disguise rifles.

Paint mud on Teri and Nat to hide their skin and make them look like part of the ground.

We will need to do something very nice for the two of them, if we put them through this kind of impromptu jungle warfare training.

I'm just saying this now. That will cause more harm than good. And getting a discount on recon would involve more than just hiding in one place all day long.
>>

>That will cause more harm than good
Which part?
The improvised camo net?
Or trying to train Teri and Nat in Recon?
>>
>>36735268
>Yeah, but getting them the Recon skill may be worth it.
not worth getting rid of their very useful skills and pissing them off

focus on getting them recon next instead of taking their abilities from them and causing problems
>>
>>36735372
Forcing them to act like they already have a skill they don't have will cause problems. Suzuka can move in the jungle and blend in with the locals. Too bad you only have one of her. Training more people in Recon will help, but trying to make them do what she does without her skills will cause problems.
>>
>>36735434
If we're not putting Teri and Nat through staying on overwatch, and we're not unlearning new skills, then we'll need to switch them out with Suzu.

Suzu goes on overwatch and surveillance.
Teri might be able to hide her ethnicity with a pair of sunglasses as long as no one actually looks closely.
But what is Nat going to do? If she stays with Suzu, she could be exposed.
We can't take her with us, because she'd stick out too much.
>>
>>36735609
So? She doesn't need to be attached to our hip 24/7, she can be doing other things, guarding our cave hideout or such
>>
>>36735606
>Training more people in Recon will help
If only we had another person trained in Recon who could help train Nat and Teri.
Maybe someone from a larger Rebel cell could do that, in exchange for Nat helping their medics and Teri providing heavy weapons training.
>>
>>36735624
that sounds like a plan to work on going forwards
>>
>>36735624
Spoilers, but the Rebellion includes a tribe of headhunters. they could train your squad members, or you could recruit their daughters.

>they could train your squad members, or you could recruit their daughters.
Which would be better?
Increase our roster, or make our individual members better?
