You are Risa Schrodinger, star of the hit internet show “Who is a Naughty Cat” and a level 16 cleric LFG. Oh, also you are some sort of abomination held together with old one glue, and you are sort of fighting an infinite nothing fragment of the Time Devourer that has lodged itself firmly in the sort of chest area of an ice giant king who really is a sort of good bloke. Last time you went to find Ryoko and found she had gotten herself into a real pickle by accidently invading the J place and punching the ice big people until they died from it. Very dramatic. You went in after her and despite parts of your body getting cold, parts you didn’t even know you had rather, you managed to catch her trail.

You chased after her until you found some blonde bint with a horse who you immediately hated because you don’t much care for horses. It kicked you down into a palace, then you had to storm out and beat up some angry giants. You met up with Beefy. “Thor.” You correct as the howling abomination swells with time enhanced muscles. Right, that fellow.

You were doing pretty well, and even used a cool attack to wipe out a massive chunk of the upper ranks of Ice Giants, and probably damage the world of Asgard, but what evs. You then vomited up Time devourer parts, and they sort of made him go crazy. He swings the large axe, now partially encased in flesh, into Thor’s side. A sick crack echoes out through the now far less crowded battlefield and he goes careening off into a cliff face at a speed that is probably not healthy. You sigh at the sight, Beefy is useless without you, and summon your energy to… do nothing. “Pardon?” You ask.

You, uh, sort of threw your energy out with that last attack. You lean back, bending at the knees in a way that seems to defy gravity, as the large weapon goes over your head. You backflip away and frown. “That’s bad, right?” You wonder.

Ryoko doesn’t seem to need any more prompting and she rushes forward. Her rage fuels her and she lays into the giant. After three strikes he moves in a way that makes your fatebreakers tickle you, and then he kicks her away. “Okay time devourer stuff. Options?” You wonder.

Well, you could pull back, try and recover some, then charge forward again. Get beefy and his family to sort of give you a helping hand. Or you can try to recharge your happy batteries, maybe get a third release going. Or you could let them deal with him and you just sort of eat grapes while your go juice goes back up.

Plan?

[] Try and team up with Thor’s mates
[] Let them handle it alone. You have grapes to eat and sofas to recline on.
[] Try and get a third release going.
[] Other, please specify

So now comes the sounds of battle
Spears and blood and death abound
Yet on the field of righteous honor
A single Norse cannot be found

Eating, drinking, playing god
Seems the dogs have lost their bite
Sitting in their hallowed halls
While cats and humans take their fight

Come now darlings
Why so boring
Why not give violence a try

Time for keeping
Oaths and Honor

>>
>>36727238

We don't understand pseudo science and soul magic. Our group doesn't have anyone who can really step up to the plate in that department either, and pretty much everyone else hates us (Mendel especially).

Beyond that, paranoia has kind of become the name of the quest when it comes to doing anything major. It feels like as soon as we flip on the machine, bad things will happen, so we keep picking the "take it slow" option, which has gotten us nowhere after 50 threads.

I'm not saying the decisions were wrong, but yeah, it's a pain.
>>
>>36727299
Doesn't Jager now know science since she has all her memories?
>>
>>36727363
I'm not enough of a scumbag to tell Jager to get back in the lab.

I don't think anyone here is enough of a scumbag to do that after learning her backstory.
>>
>>36727396
Also won't do it.
>>
>>36727363

Jager has kind of gone into a useless recursion loop that I hope she will find her way out of. As of now, she doesn't fundamentally grasp her powers nor does she seem keen on pushing the boundaries to sort herself out. Azure also seemed to make it clear that trying to push her to connect with those will end in disaster for us and everything we hold dear.

It's an annoying dead end, but the short answer is: No, Jager cannot help us. She can't help anyone until she helps herself.
>>
>>36727299
>We don't understand pseudo science and soul magic. Our group doesn't have anyone who can really step up to the plate in that department either, and pretty much everyone else hates us (Mendel especially).
Doesn't Beefy sorta like us? There is probably at least one sciency person among his family besides Loki.
>>
>>36727463

The Norse could give us a lot of nice things if we play our cards right. We'll have to punch out a frost giant king warped by an old one monstrosity first, of course. Needless to say, this is probably one of our last chances to really get a faction on our side, so I hope we don't screw this up.
>>
>>36727437
I thought she sorted herself out off screen?

Like she's been talking to Mendel for a while and now she remembered who she was.
>>
>>36727507
I wonder if they can see him being corrupted, or if they just see him going berserk for no reason.

Like do we still have to look "up" to see him?
>>
>>36727508

We asked her about her gauntlet, and she basically went "high danger alert" error message on us. She doesn't understand how she made it. It's more of an instinct she taps into when she really needs or wants something, a basic "if the need arises, there will be plot device" sort of thing. However, she isn't terribly proactive, at least not enough to where we are likely to get any functional or constant use out of her ability for our own purposes.
>>
>>36727463
>>36727507
So basically, have the norse help us with the army, use genisis to make a "Hyperbolic army making chamber" so we can skip the "and then they are tall for 6 years" bit.
Oh, and maybe find some way to ensure the twincies won't die if someone sneezes on them.
>>
>>36727566
Yeah, but that was BEFORE she said she remembered everything, which happened pretty recently.
>>
>>36726812
Aren't we supposed to not use stuff that makes the Time God stronger?

I can't see using our fatebreakers being a good idea in a fight against it.
>>
>>36726812
It drains life and turns it into go-juice.

I mean, I don't have a problem with murdering some mook for a pickmeup, but it is an important distinction.
>>
>>36727652
I thought, no wait. Wishbreaker may be a Genie power, but it still consumes a Fatebreaker.

Huh. Maybe we should fix that.
>>
>>36727603

The twincies have been getting stronger off screen. Mom has been teaching them secret bloodline techniques that are probably keeping them up to present par. We just don't have much of an interest in them or Zweity and Whitey since Mom basically told us that they are children, and shouldn't be dragged off to war.

As for hyperbaulic anything, we haven't even made the basic plane yet. It will be half a week before we have even barely enough size, let alone the environmental conditions for home grown hollows. In the end, I kind of doubt we'll be able to manage anything requiring that much time or coordination unless Azure decides the enemies are going to stop kicking out teeth in for a week.

The angel's are at peace while hunting Lucy portals and Mendel "should" have been bargained into a peace treaty to give us that breathing room. However, I have the feeling we might be about to plunge back into another round with her which I really, really don't want.

Hopefully I'm wrong, and hopefully it won't matter because I want our next target to be Hell. It's time to take Hueco back and start un-fucking up the universe.

“This is maybe bad.” You say as the beast lets out howls of time ripping agony.

Little bit. Thor, what are you doing man? You look up where the sigh was directed towards and see Thor flying in the air. He charges his hammer with electricity then throws it with the force of the greatest of storms! The hammer swings down and the time flesh covered axe hums a strange tune that you know but can’t quite place. It slams into the hammer, and it rockets back up to Thor to collide with his face. You land under him and catch him, those biceps might be bigger than your legs, and then sonido off towards the main building as Thor starts to frown. “You run! We had that beast right where we wanted him!” He explains.

“The tosser knocked your hammer back at you! What were you going to do then?” You ask.

“In the counterattack I learned his weakness!” he explains. “in order to beat him I have to just hit him very hard! Harder than last time!”

“That’s lovely, you lovely sod. But look, we are going to get everyone else in the city to come help us box his ears in. He is part Time Devourer now, and I am not too certain we want to touch him much.” You say.

“Very well, but I am able to move on my own.” He objects.

“I know. This is my Risa time. Speaking of, just why haven’t you mentioned me that much to your family? I came in here and they were all ‘Risa who?’ Could have at least mentioned me!” You say picking up the semi stunned Ryoko with a fluffy tail as you run by her.

“What? Of course I mention you. Risa Schrodinger, talk about you all the time.” He says.

You hopscotch around wounded enemies, picking up their bodies and draining them with your tails as you go along the way. It helps some. You make your way back into the city, ducking around various small people who are fighting, then set Thor down at a table with an old guy, and some other people, and—“Gornabrious Bopfrod! They are all so fit! Why are they so fit?” You ask. “Especially Cyclops over there! Oi Mate!” You shout pointing at him.

He looks at you, his one eye twinkling with knowledge which could benefit the universe were he to feel it necessary to share. “You have a nice bum! You’re fit!” You say.

The woman at his side looks concerned as you continue to point an accusatory finger at the bearded older gentleman. “A friend of yours, Thor?” She asks.

He seems concerned, but just shrugs. “Aye.” He said aye in front of the guy with one eye. I get it! “This is a friend from Earth. Risa Schrodinger. The Laughing Genocide. Violet Death.” He explains.

“Friends he says. Bit more than that, don’t you think? I helped you catch Loki after-all. Come on, didn’t you mention me even once?” You ask.

“Oh, you helped reign in my wayward son? You have my thanks.” The All-Father replies.

“Not even once? You didn’t tell them how I helped you knock in Loki’s head?” You wonder.

“Pff, what? Course I did. Didn’t I?” He asks the woman next to Odin.

“Risa Schrodinger. Risa Schrodinger. No, I don’t think you did. Oh wait, are you perhaps the berserker girl?” The woman asks.

“You and I are going to have some words, mate.” You say looking unhappy.

“Tell me what happened on the battlefield.” Odin asks, because you remember Viking lore or comics.

Thor nods. “We had almost defeated the giants, but unfortunately Risa vomited something on their king that seems to have charged him up.”

“Beefy!” You say betrayed and heartbroken.

“See? I talked about you just now, did I not?” He wonders. Cheeky bloke.

“Okay, fine. He got infected by something called the Time Devourer. Very scary thing, but it really isn’t my fault. Time Devourers just sort of happen. We could play the blame game all day long, but the short of it is we either need to rip the time devourer parts out of him, or kill the bastard.” You explain.

Oh! Oh! I have an idea! “Yes, Christmas General Monologue!” You say pointing at your head.

The others look to Thor but he just glances at you then back to them. “She does this sometimes. It’s mostly harmless.”

Anyway, look when the time thingy was all RAWR I R TIME THINGY I LIVE IN STOMACH NOW I GIANT your fatebreakers started shimmering right? Way I figure it there is some resonance thing going on which Jager could explain better, but it means if we were to somehow pin him down then, maybe, you could use your Fatebreakers to just tear the time devourer fragment out of him! “How many would it take?” You wonder.

Depends on how deep in the fragment is, but one or two might work. Three if Bopfrod has abandoned us. “We could save the frost king guy from the parasite?” You wonder.

“Truly?” Odin asks.

“Bit shocked you care. Thought he was your enemy.” You say.

“He is an honorable man. To have his mind and body stolen from him then slain seems pitiable.” He sighs.

Should we try it though? It would mean some risks if we hold him down as opposed to just killing him. Still, could make a second alliance.

Alright, so the best way to "pin" the giant king is probably going to be to just get into his insides. If Odin has Gungnir, he should use it to pierce a hole. We attach ourselves to Gugnir and bury ourselves in giant guts, taking up only as much space as is absolutely necessary while we try to rip the thing out.

Or would that just kill him? Wait! This sounds like a job for Little Risa.

>>
>>36728225
We can get HUEG, we just never do because there's no point. Risa can be just as strong while being small, and most of her damage comes from energy attacks anyway so all getting supermassive does is make it harder to dodge attacks.
>>
>>36728251
>>36728225

Strength not scaling with size is pretty much a killer there. However, if we got with (>>36728077), it would be advantageous to be as small as possible. I wonder how small Little Risa can go.

What I want to know is what happens if, after this works and we recharge, we have Monolog try this on Akira?
>>
>>36728357
Ah fucking shitballs, Monologue. Can't believe I fucked that up.
>>
>>36728357
We don't know exactly how married the parasite is to Akira. It could be glued to his optic nerves or melded to his brain like a tumor.
>>
>>36728386
But at the same time, there's no guarantee we can save him anyway and even death by removal may be a better lot in life than what he has. So the way I see it is that makes him a bit of a science experiment if need be, if Jager and Mendel need more to work with to defeat the beast itself
>>
>>36728386

Believe it or not, I feel for the little bastard. We kind of dragged him on a whirlwind journey, awakened him to the infinite nightmares of the cosmos, and then killed his best friend, then just kind of left and ignored him for most of the time he has been with us.

Azure's made it clear that trying to rip the devourer out of him has a pretty decent chance of killing him. He's also a prophet, so it probably won't even be as easy as what we are attempting here. However, if we can manage it, I think any fate is preferable to knowing all, but being rendered incapable to act or being forced to act in ways contrary to your own beliefs.

Besides, netting a new prophet of our own might be nifty.

Ah, probably something that just lasts the thread. “Thread? Spiders? Silkworms?” You ask. Shut your face hole, I ain’t talking to you.

You tap your finger against your chin as you consider the options then sigh. “Well the bloke was a gentleman to me, and I am sure he would tell his girlfriend if he met me on a wild trip to Earth wherein he caught his sociopathic brother. The secret of our love! I ain’t no holla back cat!” You say. Focus!

The others glace around while you compose yourself. “Right, sorry. Side effect of being a monster of phenomenal cosmic power. So, here is the rub. I can probably cure him if the thing isn’t too deep in his body, but the bastard is hella strong. Also the power I plan on using to cure him is limited. At the most I can only use it three times per day,” thread, “and normally I use it to save my own skin. Hell, my bloody combat style relies on it, so I am not too sure just how much help I will be.” You explain.

“Can you not just try harder to have more uses per day?” Thor wonders. “This is not a situation where you can hold back!”

“It ain’t like a muscle. It’s like a piece of food. Once you eat it it’s gone. If I was a good enough girl I might get another on Christmas, but I was pretty naughty. Jager may have had to spank me.” Wait, say that again. “Anyway, it means my combat ability will be limited at best. So I am not too sure how well I can pin him down.” You say.

“Ah ha ha! A most amusing friend. You need not worry yourself, Laughing Genocide, we are more than equipped to deal with a single man.” Cyclops says hefting, think that’s the word, a spear that while fairly unadorned radiates power on part with a strong Angel Blade.

“You sure, because I could go get Jager, and she will be all ‘Risa, stop doing dangerous thing’ then the guy will say something, and she will say something intimidating in German, and suddenly everyone is in camps.” You say.

“We—We got this sensei.” Ryoko says pushing herself up. “That annoying bastard got in a really lucky shot! I’ll see how he likes it when I give him one.” She frowns.

Your group leaves the city and goes towards the wastes without trouble. Once the back half of the enemy forces was destroyed, the forces in the city were able to easily over take the remaining giants. As such the field is empty until you get closer to the devourer spawn. As you get close you see the ground is filled with bodies, some of whom have weird static in their wounds that makes you want to vomit and pee, then pee and vomit on one of those spooky sites Asmodeus is probably into.

You hear time dying in front of you and know you have made it to where you need to be. Scrubs fall left and right to the blades of the spawn, and you become aware of the fact that this is an insane idea. Still, you hold your ground and get an idea for Loli Risa. “Oi, mate. What if you miss?” You ask one eye.
(2/4?)
>>
>>36728668

I remember them saying that we had to rip a piece off the devourer to attempt this, but I figured they meant the piece inside of Akira.

I'd imagine he is being kept alive by one old one parasite and would probably die without a new infusion of old one mojo (or that may only be for original make prophets, who are literally energy constructs). Either way, I second the motion to try to handle Akira. He's a bit of a nearer next goal than raiding hell.

"Taking him out" earns us points with Mendel, and possibly grants us a less terrible connection to his psychic hotline.

He laughs then, a laugh that shakes the heavens, a laugh that can be heard in hell, a laugh that probably turned Ryoko on, whatever that means. He looks at you with a smile and says. “I don’t miss.”

He takes two steps then throws the spear. It tears apart the ground under it, and even has a spin so it has extra power behind it. The spear is in his stomach, that’s just a fact, and the course and the power are simply the icing on the cake. You smell reality obey, you know that this must happen.

Then the eye in his chest shimmers, and reality has the toys stuffed inside it pulled out. You love the Ninja Turtles. Odin misses. The spear destroys a few mountains in the distance, then appears by his side once more. The Ice Giant King wiggles its tongue and idly looks around, as if that shit didn’t even bother him. You think about it for a moment, weigh the pros and cons, then give a sharp toothed laugh and point at Odin.

You laugh without mercy, your eyes filling with tears, and then you start slamming a fist into your knee. You feel like your sides tear, but you can’t stop do you fall on your back while holding them and kick your feet. “Oh Risa, ‘I don’t miss’ but then you threw the bit o’ wood at ‘im and yer bloody face mate! Ah ha ha! Can’t breathe! Ha ha! You acting all like the queen comin’ to see you off on yer warship, but you ain’t got two shillings in the bank!” You continue to laugh and slip into your native slang.

“What the hell is it?” He wonders.

“Time devourer. Facts become opinions around it.” You say giggling and holding your stomach.

They point at the enemy, and Odin is first to lead the charge against the monster that now stands before you. He swings his spear wildly, adding rune magic to every movement to both keep him safe, and keep the devourer at bay.

The devourer beast spawns small tumorous minions on the ground who lance out with acidic teeth and claws. They spin, and twists in impossible angels, and try to take the life of the All Father, and actually standing a chance since the “fact” he will die because of Ragnarok is being overwritten at the moment. The devourer beast himself is also an enemy to fear. His weapon lashes out several times, and you can see that the king’s already considerable battle experience is being augmented by the monster.

You watch for some time, the scrubs get destroyed, but the stronger warriors and fallen berserkers all stand up despite the insane assault by the frost king. You don’t really see a chance to be a loli chest burster at the moment. He is strong, strong enough to hold them off for now.

Also, my plan was for Little Risa to ride Gugnir into the wound, letting the spear pierce through, but staying behind in the cavity. The giant king will want to regenerate quickly from the hit, the overwhelming power of Gungnir will distract him from our spiritual presence, and thus we will probably be able to heal inside of his wound without him noticing for at least a half second.

Otherwise, we would just make an entry wound and crawl in.

You hold back, boiling in your own meat suit at the carnage before you. You want to join in. You need to join in! But you hold back, you avoid getting hurt and hurting as much as possible despite it going against your nature. It is torture, right proper torture too. You bite down on your fingers and make sad eyes at the group. You see one warrior get his skin torn off and imagine it was you. You see another slice chunks off a minion and dream of yourself in both roles. You sigh as Ryoko hits the ground next to you as a steaming pile of regenerating flesh.

You glance over at her and see her pull herself out of the ground mid-rage. You reach into your pants, pull out a big ass sword, and toss it to her. “Here, go nuts.” You say.

She takes the blade happily and begins to laugh when she rushing into the midst of battle. She raises the fleshy blade, and you see something like chainsaw teeth whirl to life before she slices down at the time devourer infected monster. He swings out, but the blade strikes true against his flesh and cuts thick chunks off of him.

Good lass. You watch carefully as the forces of Asgard get cut down to a fraction of what they were. You see your chance, so you leap forward as a spear of flesh and dig deep into the frost giant. Your body shivers, all those unmentionable places getting cold again, and you start shifting through the body. You feel muscle and flesh part under your expert ministrations, and the pain of separation is transmitted from the devourer piece into your body. It’s excruciating. It’s lovely.

You finally think you have it when—oh, oh dear. That’s in there deep.

As far as Risa being bad at sword, it kind of just came down to a stylistic choice. She had strong unarmed skills and the visceral, cat's claws style of fighting eventually evolving into abomination capoeria just sealed the deal. She isn't great, but she isn't terrible.

Also, if I had to guess, we just gave the girl a warp touched chain sword from the 40K verse.

You begin systemically tearing parts of the time devourer off as your fatebreaker shimmers in the background. You pull this tiny part here, and rip that part there until you think you have a pretty good grasp of the creature’s structure. Just as you think that countless bulbous eyes form on the devourer chunk and look straight at you. This can’t be good.

Needles tear into your skin, piercing you in ways you never had any intention of getting pierced. You almost get thrown out of the body, but you manage to hold on as the needles in your body curve and twist to inflict maximum suffering. Nice try creepy eye, we do well in suffering. You dig your long nails into the fleshy mass, and mutate the long painted things in a similar manner; in a manner to inflict the maximum amount of pain.

You tear out the rest of it, the small fragments of flesh binding them together becoming so simple to see after a little practice. The King leans back, and suddenly loli Risa busts out of the wound on his chest that served as your entry point. You pull against the writhing tendrils that hold you, but finally you manage to throw it to the ground just as you hit the ground.

You push yourself up and make ready for battle, but the tiny thing seems to have given up. It holds still twitching slightly as you look it over, but the creature doesn’t really seem to have any sort of motivation to do anything. You give it a kick just to make sure it is down for the count then look over at the fallen giant king.

He pushes himself up, and his constantly blinking eyes show awareness. He looks over at the both of you and tries to say something, but his speech gets caught in his throat. Odin stand before him tall and proud, and both of them hold a steady glare for a few moments before he nods.

“I am in your debt.” He says.

“Aye, now get the Hel out of Asgard.” Odin replies. I get it!

He nods and pulls way, still rubbing at his chest where Loli Risa burst out with a rubbery tentacles mass surrounding an eyeball in her mouth. It tasted bad, by the way. Your group gathers around the eye, and you have to wonder just want to do with it.

What do with the devourer eye?

In that case, probably better for locking it up for studying.

>>
Already voted lock away, but just as an argument to the eat it crowd, last time we ate an interdimensional parasite (which may be connected here) it had bad effects on us. Besides, it's a bad tasting part, we can at least add salsa or pepper spray first before we eat it.

As for locking it up, so long as we can actually "manage" to lock it up, I'd say that's our best bet. Eating it might cause problems in the short term, and we can always choose to eat it later if we take it in, alive, for studying.

Keeping a timey whimey god thing trapped, though, is very, very difficult. This thing can leech out of a sealed pocket dimension to sniff out our FB trails. I wonder what it will take to keep this thing still if it isn't perma pacified.

You decide to eat it. Seriously?

Your teeth dig into rubbery flesh, and you can taste the eyeball juices freely fill your mouth, spill down your chin, and then fall all over your chest. It is rare for you to think something tastes bad, but this tastes beyond awful. It is horrifying to your gums, to your teeth, to your tongue, and to virtually every other sense. You almost vomit, but hold it down as you wait for options to appear and…

5 SPXP gain!

Fucking hell time devourer, really? That’s it?

Also…

Yeah, this is getting good.

You feel truly sick.

“Well fuck me sideways, ain’t that a kick in the uterus?” You ask looking up before feeling your stomach tighten and you double over.

Odin looks up impressed and, ah, we are not going to pay attention because it hurts too much. You feel too sick to pay attention, and your admittedly lovely eyes which are constantly flecked by dark circles seem somehow more sunken. Normally something horrible would happen, but you showed enough apprehension I will just give it to you and the QM is tired from finals and wants a happy time. “The bloody hell does that mean?” You wonder as your liver rejects you.

It means you don’t feel well, you silly git. You let out a groan, and Ryoko looks over you concerned. “Sensei? Are you okay?” She wonders.

“My tummy hurts.” You complain.

“Devouring the devourer must have taken its toll. Come, let us retire to the great hall to feast and drink merrily!” Thor offers.

“Uguhhh.” You reply. “Can I take a rain check and just sort of come back?” You wonder. “Not that I don’t like you lot, but my stomach feels rancid.”

“Ah, the warrior needs time to recover! Of course! Should you desire recovery you may return! We can postpone the victory feast for until after you have recovered!” Thor shouts.

“Sensei, hey, stay with me okay? I should be able to make it back here, so there isn’t any rush.” Ryoko says.

Hm, you are feeling pretty awful, and you are the physical manifestation of the out of control Id of a sociopathic hedonist.

Just pointing out, it was not a vast majority. Really, the choice of eating it lost almost 2 to 1. There also was no secure vote, so we can't be sure there was no same fagging, but that would fall on both sides, if any.

It's more that the voting system was critically flawed in a certain way that allowed for the worst option to win, and that it needs to be changed so that the majority sentiment won't be subsumed by the minority short-sightedness due to design.

At the end of the day, there were way more votes against eating it that were ignored, and having their votes ignored is a sure-fire way to rankle Anons.

>>
>>36731224
I was just trying to steer the debate after the vote into more productive directions before it devolved into Anons shitting on each other Ad hominem, and offering a way to improve the running of this quest. I'm fine either-way.

You suck it up, you big baby, and nod to the others. “No! You must party immediately after an event or it loses all meaning!”

“Ah ha! You have grit! Most fortunate! I was worried we would have to carry you back to the world of the living. Come then! Into our castle!” Thor shouts.

-

You follow the group to the overly large castle, and are careful to keep your painful condition hidden. You see several warriors along the way already giving into the raw enjoyment of this world and partying like they are about to die. Even though they are already dead. You see men and women drink, eat, then as time goes on, start doing weird things while naked. Are they trying to eat each other? That is a very strange life to lead but you are not going to judge them for it. You go into the main castle and sit down next to Beefy, he will keep you good.

Slutty blonde slags come in and start pouring booze, but you do not have the stomach for it, so you just give all your alcohol to Ryoko. She hungrily drinks it. Odin stands at the end of the table and clears his throat. “Unscheduled as it might have been, we emerged victorious this day! Let us eat and drink merry, for this day we have won!” He shouts.

You see the boiled goose in front of you, as well as the rest of the actual food, but you are not feeling it. You sip some wine to settle your stomach, then look over the crowd and decide what to do with your time, time limited by your stomach making unfortunate sounds at you.

[] Ask Odin to stand by you against the devourer. That is most important.

If it comes down to "I want everyone to have a good time", the question becomes "Can I write a fun and engaging scene with Risa feeling like shit and wanting nothing better than to pass out or curl into a ball?" If the answer is yes, go for it. It might be funny. Maybe she'll puke on Thor's lady love. If not, well, you can fix this with minimal effort in a number of ways.

Gather round ye Norsemen lads
Let dear Risa tell a tail
Of demon, angels, abominations
Of twisted horrors beyond the veil

Here you sit in quiet halls
Waiting for the end to dawn
Waiting with your arrows drawn
Waiting but the war is won

Yes you see
My lovely dears
The things that drove you
The things you fear
I've beat them down
Or seen them die
Fenrir, Jormun, Loki
Aye

While you've been plotting
I've been plodding
To dungeons deep and caverns old
Seeking, scraping, ever fighting
Till I came to this land of cold

Tell me men of stalwart heart
Can you hear the end come round
Can you hear the wolves abaying
Or is it now they can't be found?

Fenrir's dead and Loki chained
And so your end has come to naught
For all these years you've gone and trained
Yet there is no battle to be fought

Or is there yet a hell awaiting
For the men of stalwart heart
Will you help me
Will you heed me
Fore Midgard dear is torn apart

Angels, demons, abominations
Things beyond the veil
Ever fighting, ever flailing
Against it all, I won't prevail

So tell me warriors in this hall
Brave proud warriors one and all
Whom legends say once stood so tall
Won't you come and heed my call

The wheels are turning
War is burning
Ever nearer to my shrine
I need a shield, a sword, a bow
More allies to have this back of mine

So tell me men of great renowned
Warriors whose peers can not be found

Those born of blood, iron, and steel
Can your hearts refuse to feel
Fore the end, shall you come and kneel
Or will you stand and fight!

You decide to go talk to Odin, because you need friends because something something friendship. You close in on him way before he becomes sloshed so you have plenty of time to make your case. “Odin, you lovely old man who is in remarkably good shape.” You start off.

“Oh ho? Flattery will get you nowhere Laughing Genocide!” He shouts. Does no one in his family have any sense of volume control?

“It will get blokes everywhere with me. Lasses too, I ain’t picky.” You reply making Odin laugh. “Listen, that time devourer is sort of a problem, and not just a little problem. A major world ending problem. The universe ends and I am pretty sure you lot go with it.”

“Then what would you ask of me? I am certain a request is coming.” He says calmly, must be because he is a parent he is used to people requesting things of him.

“Help me out a bit. This time devourer nonsense is way over my pay grade, and if I had a choice I would drop it all. With you lot on my side I feel like I would be able to take on the devourer of time.” You explain.

He hums, and haws for a few moments like the important sod he is, then he finally looks at you with a serious expression. The rest of the hall quiets when he says “Okay, we shall aid you.”

“You lousy sod! You would let the universe die rather than—“ You freeze realizing what he said. “What was that now?”

Ah, that reminds me.” He starts, then glances around cautiously. God damn it you fuck head, our tum tum hurts, I don’t have time for this shit. “Isn’t it strange how the angels seem to be ignoring the abomination?” He wonders, then shrugs. “Not that it matters to me! They can do as they please! Still, it seems a bit strange does it not?”

I bet this has something to do with how the Time Devourer is affecting the universe exactly like how Old Risa is affecting Risa.

God ate an Old One, got hugestrong, and then fell asleep while the infection tried to remove him from time.

Since the Angels are his things he made like how Father John is our thing we made, they are doing shit about TD.

“I heard the Time Devourer has to do with the first wish. Any idea what that means?” You wonder as you try and hold down your lunch.

“The first wish? I fear not. Not even I am that old. I am not even sure of whom you could ask about that!” He explains. “Perhaps the lightbringer? Ah, but he is a difficult person to deal with. The one born of sloth knows all secrets, but it is impossible to get an answer from it. Looking at you reminds me of myself when I was young! Rampaging about looking for answers. If you come see me later I might be able to tell you about those days!” He says.

Seems Odin has his own theories, but man your tum tum feels poopy. You waddle over to Ryoko and pull on her sleeve as she drinks another of the long dead under the table. “Ryoko. I dun feel good.” You explain.

“Hey, I am almost done Sensei, can it wait?” She asks.

“No.” You reply clutching your tummy. “It dun feel good.” You almost cry.

She looks at you and then without hesitation nods. “Okay. Just sit tight, okay?”

She raises her hand and looks at the Norse Gods. “Hey fuck heads! This how you treat someone who saved you and yours? Give us a room yeah?”

You thought it wouldn’t work, but the Nose nod to each other, then start moving. They work around here and there until finally they nod. One Norse god wanders over to Ryoko and whispers something into her ear that makes her smile. “Sensei? We got a room.” She explains.

She picks you up, and when everyone lets out a howl or whistle she just shouts shut up, then takes you to your room. You try and contain your pain, but it is really hard. You finally get set down on the bed and open your eyes you unconsciously closed to see Ryoko looking over you. I think the LoL random might need to get toned down a bit. It seems like Risa might have more quirks than character at this point, and that might be part of the contributing factors as to why people consistently pick bad options.

They are trying to ask themselves "What would Risa do?", which wasn't our supposed function toward the beginning. Rather, we were supposed to be the reigns that held her stupid in check so she could get productive things done in spite of herself. Now I can't tell whose the horse and whose the blind guy... and I got nothing.

I only care in so much as it impairs our ability to have a better time. Instead of drinking with the Norse, we spent a couple posts grumbling about a tummy ache. Instead of waking up in an odd compromising position with Ryoko that makes us wonder, we are probably going to vomit all over her.

Maybe Azure can inject some humor with that, but it seems like the other road is better, and in general, poor decisions have lead to less fun and more complaints from people, which I don't like listening to.

If failure or incompetence was as interesting, hilarious, and engaging as successes, I would be all for it. However, 1's and bad decisions seem to just land us in the time-our box.

You pull on her sleeve. “Spoil me.” You demand.

“Huh?” She wonders.

“Hey, hey! I don’t feel good. I want to be spoiled!” You say. “I want to see cute maid girls kissing, and maybe a bit of whatever comes after? Then maybe I want to be spoiled but slowly.” You wonder.

“Check please.” Ryoko says.

“They do not do checks. Come on, don’t be so sloppy.” You grumble as you tug on her sleeve more.

“It was just an expression.” Ryoko explains as she picks you up.

You feel her hands on your rump, but you do not mind as you let the berserker girl carry you to a room. You wrap your arms around her neck and make strange sleepy sounds as she leads you to a new room. She sets you down on the bed, but you do not let go. She glances at your arms and says “Hey, Sensei? You have to let me go now.”

“No.” You reject that idea at once.

“I can’t go back if you don’t let go.” She points out.

“Then don’t go. Stay. Sleepy. Sick.” You grumble.

“Us sleeping together… it might be bad Sensei.” She tries to explain.

“I don’t care.” You say pulling her down so you can snuggle into her neck. “Sleepy time now.”

You doze off before you hear her answer, but you have a great sleep. You dream of sweet smelling fields under soft ground that you kiss. You dream of the sound of drums, and the love of trumpets! You keep yourself warm in the comforting cocoon that exists around you. You are super comfortable!

You wake up to darkness. You worry you made yourself blind again, because that is a thing that happens, but after some wiggling you conclude you are just being held tight. You pull yourself free and see the naked form of Ryoko in front of you happily sawing logs. Partially suspecting you look down and see you are also disrobed. Ryoko makes a funny face and sound, and then you see her eyes start to flutter open.

This will be super bad.

Hollow Quest Redux 118 END

This seems a good place to stop. Still around for questions concerns, comments, accusations, etc.

The true party with the asgard will have to wait till next thread. I am a bit tired. Finals wore me out I guess. Sorry.

It's fine. We'll get there eventually. Thanks for running.

Anyway, could you tell us what was behind doors number 2 and 3 with capture and kill now that we've bungled those options?
>>
>>36733201
>I don't like that "failure" options aren't interesting, engaging or hilarious.
Ok, that's reasonable. It's always good if a quest can entertain even when you aren't necessarily winning. That is the point, after all, to have fun.
>So the way to fix this is to stop failing.
Errr...
>And to never fail, we need to make Risa be less crazy because that will make the players stop picking stupid shit!
..................................................

You've got a fairly legitimate core complaint, but you've gone proposed a convoluted "solution" multiple degrees away from your actual issue, hoping that it will domino effect into something positive.

You seem to be kind of forcing my point a little too far. I'm not saying the solution is not to fail. Failure is an integral part of the story, and suffering losses and tragedies make the good times even better.

However, when you suffer for less than stellar reasons, ones that could easily be avoided if you made a conscious effort to make better decisions, I think those losses can be viewed as superfluous. It's not like we suffer enough defeats and difficulties we have earned more legitimately.

And I'm not saying that Risa should go on the straight and narrow either. Her madness is an integral part of her character. However, I think we, as the audience, are not trying hard enough to avoid bad decisions.

We are not acting as the "We are all mad here" perk, but rather pushing Risa further along the road to her vices, by encouraging her poor habits. Sometimes this leads to hilarity, but most people don't make the switch with more serious decisions.

tl;dr There is a difference between someone braining you with a waffle iron and purposefully sticking your hand in and turning it on.

I had a TA for a science lab. the lab has supposed to go from 6:20-8pm. It never went past 7 at the latest, because his favorite bar was doing $2 you call its and he was not missing out on that.

Best advice would be to always try to make the resulting complications interesting and fun to play out.

"Risa has a stomach ache and feels irritable" could have been translated into "Risa has a stomach ache so drinks heavily enough to forget that. Somewhere in the midst of a blacked out drunken rampage, tables were flipped, bards were punched, and Freya burned that dress after receiving a slick coating of untime guts on it. The Norse, for their part, were fairly well amused, though you may have made enemies if you don't apologize."
>>
>>36733715
Instead I made it complications with Ryoko which can be fun in their own right, yes?

>>
>>36733747

It's a nice touch at the end, but the period of "there are people laughing and drinking and carousing, but Risa is being a sourpuss" was less fun to play out and maybe a little longer. On the plus side, I guess it made us too little fun to actually bother talking with Odin and handling business.

The "You can't really be this stupid" from Monologue was kind of a bad kick off to this.

Freshman year, Introduction to Dinosaurs, I learned that only members of the Ceratopsian family have rostral bones and you can fail two midterms and still pass(grade curve + stupid students that can't do better than a C)

also, in advanced rhetoric, we had to write up a one page response on the importance of Grammar. I was the only one in the class that spelled grammar correct. IT WAS THE ADVANCED CLASS.

State Universities everyone.Good ol' college days.... glad I graduated and got out of there. the cafeteria never cooked the pancakes thoroughly, bit into batter every time.

Period? it was like, a few posts at best. She even managed to get the Norse on her side against the time devourer, and has more time for random fun since she woke up in Asgard if that is what is wanted. Come on anon.

Monologue is often a jerk butt? People with schizophrenia have described their condition as people yelling at them all the time right next to them while saying a number of awful thing.

I'll admit, it's a bit unreasonable. In all honesty, being sick wasn't so bad compared to other tremendous failures we've had recently. Even looking at the text, it's pretty tame compared to most of the times we've screwed up. It was just a sour note on what was otherwise a very good time. The down shift was a little too immediate. You went from,EVERYTHING IS AWESOME to Risa being crabby and tired. If Risa would have doubled over in pain over the weight of her stupid decision and come back to a party, I think it might have gone better.

It's like a balloon pops in that case rather than deflates sadly, and you get better impact out of it. I don't know, I'm kind of tired, trying to give advice and failing.

Handling failure is the hardest thing to do as a storyteller in an interactive medium. You have my sympathies.

I certainly would drink in the middle of it! Plus they laugh! Risa is always happy! That is the most important part.
>>36734011
Ah, ah. Mayhaps you should sleep it off and think of what you wish to say? Sleep helps my brain parts certainly.

She got her shit done, and got an awkward Ryoko moment, that is good I think. Perhaps it is because I just finished finals and wanted something more lighthearted but was unable to do so under our time constraints. Ah, I may just be bitching now. Still, not the worst thing to happen, not the best.
>>36734052
Thanks for playing.

They bought genisis, in no small part due to a lewd anon who kept posting porn stories.
>>
>>36733573
So what exactly do you want? Because it seems like you want the players to exclusively act as the 'good angel' on Risa's shoulder. Like you want them doing nothing but trying to steer her away from anything that could possibly lead to less than optimal outcomes and to force her to end her bad habits, and you want Azure change how he writes Risa because you think this will make the players conform to your vision of how things should be.
>>
>>36734052
>>36734085
Speaking of Genesis, I think I found the perfect to placate Ryoko and make her forget about the possibly lewd shenanigans.

simply Sega Genesis the room in a forest of penises. She will be too distracted by the penises and forget all about the alleged lewd thing.

another alternative is Sin Fin butt planet. Risa and or monologue hasn't obsessed over that in awhile.
>>
>>36734126

Honestly, I don't really know. The main character is broken. That has to stay as a part of the story and can't be changed. People will dogpile in on this and make decisions that will not play out in their favor. This will result in strife as the narrative rightfully punishes suboptimal decisions.

Some of those decisions they make will have huge and lasting impacts. Some of them already have, like the Jager incident and the Yoruichi incident, which almost ended the quest outright and lost a substantial portion of the audience.

I don't want things perfect, I'll say that much. I'll also say that you are putting words in my mouth and projecting assumptions about my character, which I don't appreciate.
>>
>>36734126
My guess is it's the guy who lost his shit with Mendel. He's never happy about anything.
>>
>>36734240

Mendel got a lot of negative feedback from a lot of people. Honestly, in my mind, it wasn't so much the woman herself but the sudden beat down from several new avenues of attack the player base didn't seem prepared to cope with.

We faced an internal war with Old Risa suddenly cropping up and becoming manifest. We had Jager get tortured, twice, and realized we couldn't protect our allies. it was confirmed that we were the weakest power player and could be wiped out at any moment with just a day's difference in coordination that Mendel didn't take. Add to this that Jager became untrustworthy, the god thing fell through, and we hit a low point that we are just now picking up from.

Yeah. Things are looking up in recent threads, and I feel you are on the right track. I just wish they could have kept going full steam on the awesome tracks without the detour into belly aches, though my degree of frustration with that was far from reasonable.

For the record, I do like what you did with the Ryoko thing. I just wish the other half of that fantasy would have come true, with drinking, fighting, poetry, just a giant explosion of awesome things all mixing together in some lurid dream to celebrate the end of hell week. I'll save those aspirations for next thread.
