/tg/ - Traditional Games

Welcome back ladies and gentlemen to the quest that doesn’t remain in the grave for that long, Succubus Lord Quest! Apologies for my absence, but running games while doing multiple graduate level classes at once was... messy.

Alright, last time on SLQ we were dealing with the defense of Old TO in preparation for a Celestia invasion and made a deal with the Greed Demons in exchange for a dirty little secret of the Pride Demons. We’re going to... somewhat continue along these lines. Our character for the day is Brodin, the alcoholic Grim Reaper, and deal with some of the events he has leading up to this.

IC I think this makes a great backdrop, OOC wise I need something light to get my creative juices flowing again. Brodin's stat sheet is there, and while he does have the same magics, he's increased in power.

For information on characters and old threads:

“...You’re sure this is the case?” you ask back into the skull.

“The one with the highest probability, yea.” A female voice replies back from the skull. “Your friend Brooklyn was only an insignificant mortal, so it was unlikely that her remaining alive would’ve done anything. It did however build up the strings of causality, and when Erika was rescued the strings snapped violently. Langy’s outburst was definitely the result of Karma.”

“But you told me you weren’t sure that this would be the case of Karma Rika.” you reply.

“I said wasn’t sure what triggered the karmetic backlash Brodin, but I’m certain that it was a karmetic backlash of some sort. The fate strands surrounding the incident’s aftermath have textbook signs that this was the case.” Rika replies. “Though in Langy’s case, he executed it rather violently and caused quite a bit of work for our boss.”

“...Yea...” you automatically reply.

“Brodin, you were warned of this. We all were. Attachments to the living are only going to end in tears and worse disruption of Fate. Old TO is already running us ragged with the incredibly dense population of magic users in one place, don’t stress the system out any more. I don’t want to sort through millions of pre-severed strings, especially when I’d like to have a personal life as well.” Rika protests on the other side.

“I’ll get your damn beer relax!” you snap back at the skull.

The voice on the other end is silent for a few seconds. “...First you call in the favor I owe you to check fate strings and now you actually raise your voice? Brodin are you sure you’re alright?”
>>
[2/4]

You sigh as you rub your head. “...Yes. Just... A bit stressed right now is all. Celestia pulling it’s own crap has gotten me a bit stressed out.”

“It’s gotten us all stressed out Brodin. We’ve sent diplomats to ask that they at least spare the mortals, so hopefully your workload won’t be too long in the aftermath. Just go to the bar or something when the attack hits, Celestia will ignore you so long as you remain neutral.”

“Fine, fine. Get back to your work Rika.” you say as you sit back up, the skull in front of you crumbling to ashes. As it crumbles to ashes, you can smell something else in the room that catches your attention. ...Burbon... Strong...

“Sebastien I know you’re there.” you call out to him.

“You’re getting better at finding me.” Sebastien says walking out from behind a pillar.

“No, I just know the smell of my booze.” you reply as you walk over to the window, overlooking Old TO.

“Did you tell Brooklyn about this hunch of yours?” Sebastien asks.

“No, and honestly I don’t think I should. Brooklyn has enough on his plate planning for the Celestia invasion. The last thing I need to do is overload him about the things I saw. Destruction, chaos... And the death of his sister amongst them. I can barely even look at him in the eye anymore with a straight face.” you reply.

“So you’re saying Excel is going to die?” Sebastien asks.
>>
[3/4]

“Yes, and soon. I’m worried about how to handle this.” you reply as you continue looking out the window at the rows of soldiers down below Brooklyn is giving a speech to. “If Langy’s rampage at Fort Hope is a result of us trying to cheat Erika’s death by making her into a Succubus, then we’ll be in deep shit. The way I see it is that we’re in the exact situation, only instead of Langy we’ll have Beck who may have her rampage, and she can do a lot worse than what Langy can do. When I killed the Draugr... I’ve seen terrible things, the destruction of Old TO amongst them. I don’t think this is a coincidence.”

“So if you’re saying Excel becomes a Succubus, Beck will destroy Old TO?” Sebastien asks.

“That or the war Beck will cause will rip Old TO apart.” you sigh as you rub the back of your head. “In terms of Fate backlashes, this’d be a major one. Out of all the places I’ve been too, I’ve never seen Karmetic backlash potential like this. It’s akin to being near a volcano and just feeling the tremors in preparation for the eruption. It may not even be Beck for all I know.”

“Brooklyn isn’t the sort of person to let his family and friends die.” Sebastien warns. “But what about you? You don’t have to tell Brooklyn any of this. In two weeks Excel will die, and while it may be sad something positive has got to come out of it.”

A small flash of memories of your old life come flooding back to you. “It just doesn't sit well with me. There’s got to be a way out of this.”

"The solution would be finding out someone who does." Sebastien tells you. "You have to know *someone* who can at least hand you a shovel so you can dig yourself out of this mess."

well fuck thats a kick in the balls out of complete nowhere, how the fuck we going to save her? because fuck letting her die, that just ain't happening

have B as a backup plan if things go to shit

and unfortunately this anon has to head for work now, glad to see this running again, hopefully the other players join in soon

we could always leaver the knowledge of an imminent Celestia assault to 'enourage' them to 'disappear'...
>>
>>36743809

>because fuck letting her die, that just ain't happening

That's what Brodin wants to stop basically. He knows Excel is going to die, and even if she doesn't die Brodin's going to have to be the one to try and kill her, because that's his job.

Right now his goal is to make sure neither of these things happen.

"try"

we should probably plan a backup plan to 'attempt' to kill her and have it fail, maybe team up with Brooklyn and his fate magic somehow?

anyway this anon won't be able to play for for most of today, so good luck anons, don't get our sister killed.

"I know some spirits and zombies holed up around here. I meant to clear them out.” you say as you sit up doing some stretches.

Sebastien just stares at you flatly.

“...Eventually. Maybe they can convince me to let them stay longer.” you reply as you grab your scythe, heading towards the exit of the room.

“Not taking any reinforcements?” Sebastien asks.

“The only person I’d expect to understand in this case is Amanda, the rest will probably tip Brooklyn off when they begin acting strangely. I’ll be fine by myself.” you reply.

“Don’t die.” Sebastien warns you.

“Pfft, dying is just me requisitioning me a new robe and travel.” you say as you leave the study.

Finding the undead spirit villages are usually tricky. The dead tend to like their privacy... and also the insane members of their group tend to rip apart mortals in a blind rage and tend to give them a bad name. They do violate the order, but honestly unless they’re actively bothering mortal populations then the general idea is to simply leave them be. They’re already outside of Karma, and if they remain out of sight and out of mind of the normal world, then there’s no problems.

Thankfully you do know the location of this village, in fact you knew about since nearly a century ago. Deep in the sewers of Old TO in the area known as Ville de la Défunt. Even passing through the old sewers on your boat, you can feel it in the air as the deathly aether wafts through the air. As you slowly paddle on, your lamp makes out a gate and a figure ahead. Looking up, you can see what appears to be a gate guard, wearing what appears to be full plate armour with a skull on a nearby chair.

“Reaper...” The skull says, a low growl in his voice. “You know we don’t take kindly to your types. You’d just turn around and best go back, we have done nothing to interfere in the affairs of the surface world!”

A) “Work? Ha. The alcohol of the surface world tastes like piss, where else can I find 200 year old booze for cheap?”
B) “I’m here to meet a friend. Catch up on old times with him... He died tripping up over the stairs and broke his neck. I let his spirit live out of pity and want to see how he’s doing these days.” (Lie)
C) “Yea about that... You see some of the more recent ghoul vampire problems we’ve been having to deal with have... kinda led me here. Why don’t you kindly open that gate, or do I need to involve my boss in this?” (Semi-Lie, you did have problems with the ghouls lately)

“Work? Ha. The alcohol of the surface world tastes like piss, where else can I find 200 year old booze for cheap?” you ask the skeleton.

The skeleton remains silent for a moment, the main body actually lowering the newspaper it’s headless body was ‘reading’ in order to have a better ‘look’ at you. “...You can’t be serious.”

“Why do you think I have a barrel in the back of my boat?” you ask. “It’s because I have two jobs, both pay well, and quite frankly after the Celestia invasion I’m going to *need* the alcohol.”

The skeleton still continues staring at you in disbelief.

“Trust me, if you still had a sense of smell, you’d be a-”

“Fine fine... Just keep to yourself inside Reaper.” The skeleton replies as it’s body gets up.

“I’ll try.” you reply.

“Your post-death paper Reaper.” The skeleton says as it gives three hard raps on the metal wall, one of his hands falling off as he knocks the third time.

“Try glue if that keeps falling off.” you say as you row yourself past the main gate.

As you come into the city proper, you are assaulted by the multicoloured lights and buildings that seem to dot the eye. People often think of the dead as depressing, but once they’ve gotten past the mourning stages they’re actually both dedicated people and dedicated partygoers. Since you’re dead you can actually drink the strong stuff, such as paint thinner. I mean what’s it going to do, kill you? Lifespan isn’t an issue either, and even the moderately aged down here often have enough money for nearly anything they want. The result is basically a party always going on at some sort of time.

You tie your boat onto the docks on a nearby bar Château Bleu, throwing a few coins into the saxaphone case of a zombie blues player. You head into the bar and open the door, seeing what appears to be a slow or relaxing night in the bar as far as the dead are concerned. Ghosts are gambling, skeletons playing the piano, and a few well embalmed zombies chatting in the background. Conversation seems to die down a bit when you enter, but starts back up again once you sit at the back next to an old friend of yours.

“B-B-Brodin! Hi!” a ghost says next to you.

“Hello Benny.” you say sitting down at the bar, letting your scythe rest against the table so Benny can intentionally see his sweating reflection in it.

Benny swallows as he sees this, pulling the collar out a bit on his spectral shirt. “L-L-Look man! I-I can understand what went on between us last time... The money and... L-L-Look can you let it just slide!? I-I mean I got something major tonight. I SWEAR I’d be able to make it up to you then! H-How about a beer to tide you over huh!?”

A: “Do you know the amount of paperwork I had to file to come back to the living world? We have a special place in the Underworld for people like you Benny.” (Intimidate)
B: “Oh? And what guests are these? After all, I’m interested in anyone who’s interested in you, so how about being a pal and introducing us tonight?”

“Oh? And what guests are these? After all, I’m interested in anyone who’s interested in you, so how about being a pal and introducing us tonight?” you ask him.

“Oh... You know... J-Just some locals in Old TO wanting to make their lives a bit better...” Benny says.

“Now I’m definitely interested.” You say standing up, one hand on your scythe and one hand on Benny’s shirt collar. “Come on Benny.

“Aaahhh...” Benny meekly replies as he’s dragged along the floor, not daring himself to give out a full scream.

*

Benny leads you to the rear of the bar, heading out the back door and into an alleyway. You can see some men in the back beginning to unpack themselves. Using your death sight, you can see that these assholes are still alive, but have no death clock, in fact their aura tends to have black flecks in it.

“...Ghouls.” you reply looking at the creatures down the alleyway.

“Oh come on... They’re not that bad.” Benny says. “A-A-As I said, they’re just trying to make a livin’ for themselves!”

Yea... Living. Right. Ghouls are the bastard offspring of Vampires, a far less refined race. Like vampires their diet are vital fluids, but unlike vampires their palette can only include non-enlightened beings or rotten flesh (the latter of which they hate, but can eat). They reproduce by simply biting a human, whereas Vampires at least need to make an effort. They are weaker than vampires, but still have strength, speed, and endurance far beyond a normal mortal. Granted *some* are spared, such as the ones who are very well behaved, but current principle is to kill them on sight before the assholes reproduce like cockroaches.

A: You’re far stronger than these Ghouls and it’s part of your job to ‘deal’ with them. Then talk to Benny.
B: “Benny... Ghouls? Come now, you know the amount of problems this can cause for me... and especially you now that I know of it. What were you going to give them?”

“O-Oh nothing that special, j-”

You lower your scythe a bit, letting the bladed end of it be felt on the back of Benny’s neck. Anything dead knows that being incorporeal won’t save you from a Reaper’s Scythe.

“S-Sunblotter ingredient! They’re working for the vampires to get a Sunblotter!” Benny retorts.

“Oh wow, that has to be expensive. Interesting way in trying to screw over Celestia as well, the Celestian army won’t expect a Ghoul and Vampire force working together like that sneak attack.” you reply.

“I-It’s been the talk of the grapevine lately! The vampires want to use the Celestian Invasion as the break they’ve been waiting for, but the Sunblotter is no where near completed yet.” Benny replies.

“They’ll need the blood of a high ranking angel, which is going to happen during the Celestian invasion as well.” you say ducking back into the alleyway. “...Or of course the angel you happen to know.”

“You know!?” Benny seems to shriek.

I want to meet Antegra, as I know she’s a divination expert.”

“What!? What could you possibly want a divination expert for!? The Underworld has diviners especially trained for your line of work!” Benny explains.

“Second opinion. I want you to use that favor she owes you to set up a meeting with me, rather than with these ghouls so they can get a portion of her blood.” you reply.

“B-Brodin please no! You don’t know these guys! T-They have deep connections! They’ll forge me into Soulsteel or worse! Y-You can’t do this to me!” Benny pleads with you, sounding desperate.

“Oh being forged into Soulsteel isn’t the problem. You see we have... lots of useful applications for ghosts in the Underworld Benny...” you say nodding your head solemnly.

Benny swallows as he hears the threat, not wanting to double cross you. “A-Alright I get it! I-I’ll set up the meeting for you! I-In fact she’s already in this town!”

“Where?” you ask.

“Sewers, near the Celestia College, North end! T-the Coffee Shop known as “Ping!” is actually a Celestian Front! Mention my name and you’ll be allowed down in the basement! Y-You can’t miss it!” Benny says.

“You better be right Benny. I have friends in high places now, and if I find out that you skipped town or hear of you cooperating with the ghouls again, then the best thing I can imagine happening to you is being a soulsteel weapons mold for eternity.” you say removing your scythe from his neck and walk off, back into the bar. “Set up the meeting now, I’m heading over to the meeting location right away.”

******

You stride through the streets of Old TO towards the Coffee Shop that Benny mentioned, the streets of Old TO are busy being fortified as you trot through it, with many of the Succubi guards and mortals eying you as if you were already an enemy. Can’t blame them really, you understand just how well unfair it can be to survive a battle then see a Reaper at your door the next day to collect your soul.

True to his word, the coffee shop owner lets you head down into the basement upon mentioning Benny’s name. Down in the basement you can see what appears to be barrels upon barrels of the devil’s elixir: Iced Coffee. Why people enjoy iced coffee in this frozen wasteland is beyond you, but there are barrels upon barrels of the stuff, combined with the rest of the pantry containing flour, dried and candied fruit, and other such supplies.

You begin to look around, trying to see if you can find some kind of shrine of Celestia nearby. It doesn’t take long before a gunshot wizzes directly by your head.

“...Damnit Benny...” you sigh as you slowly stand up to deal with the trap.

As you turn around, you can see what appears to be an adventurer group behind you, one that you know all too well.

“That was a warning shot.” An elder elf with a smoking flintlock pistol says, she’s wearing a trenchcoat similar to Brooklyn with various reagents around her belt.

“Tal’la, come on. You can’t still be angry with me trying to kill you a while back.” you say to the elven woman.

“We have heard that you were working for the wretched Succubus Lord of this city Brodin, but I didn’t expect it to actually be true.” A dwarf in shiny white and ivory armour says in the back, Mace in hand.

“Well... More like I side effect I guess. It makes my job easier.” you reply to the dwarf.

“Trying to kill us, then killing innocent men and woman! Do you know no shame Reaper!?” a man with Dragon aspected armour says to you as he points his spear towards you. “You haven’t learned a thing since we last defeated you!”

“Uh... Pardon?” you ask. You knew Celestia goggles were thick, but boy it’s really gotten bad lately.

“Enough of this foolishness. I grow tired of this creature’s presence. Do you have any last words before I claim your head Reaper?” a man in Indian clothing says as he sits cross-legged and balanced upon a sword implanted into the ground with just a single toe.

Yea you... tried to kill these guys long before meeting Brooklyn, something about the gun mage dying. Of course Benny screwed you over back then and you learned the hard way.

“Look just... stop alright? I’m not here for fighting.” you say trying to explain to them.

“Oh? Then what are you here for Reaper?” The man balancing on the sword asks.

...Argh. You envy the Succubi innate social ability now, and how they can get people to follow them like sheep. Meanwhile you’ve got to deal with these assholes who see you in two ways. First is that they see you killing innocent Celestia folk and people. Granted killing people who beg for their lives isn’t something you enjoy doing and is one reason you ingest tons of alcohol whenever you get a chance, but it needs to be done. Second is that you attempt to kill angels and adventurers when their death clock is up, but you can imagine how pissy people get when they’re challenged for their lives.

Even IF you say you’re here to actually *save* someone, they can bend it by saying that you’re not doing your job and that you’re truly corrupt. ...Which granted is pretty easy with you as most times people bring you to a bar then run away when you’re drunk, but you always go back for those. This time you’re trying to actually save Excel, and you need to figure out what to say to these guys to let you talk to their boss, who also doesn’t like you as you tried to kill her adventurer group.

“...Now I know why they told me not to forge connections with the living...” you mutter to yourself under your breath.

"Because I need a second opinion on whether I need to kill an innocent human to avoid a fate cascade." you reply.

“Fate Cascade?” Tal’la asks, lowering her gun a bit.

“Yea, you know what that is, don’t you?” you reply to her. “This isn’t about demons or angels or whatever the hell else your boss put in your head. Right now I know my bosses’s sister is going to die and soon. Thing is my boss thinks she has a plan for this, but after learning that the destruction of half a down was the result of a karmic buildup, I don’t want to take second chances anymore, especially in a town as populous as Old TO as that will cause headaches for literally every person here.”

“Then just save her and deal with the consequences.” the dragon armoured man says.

“Have you been paying attention to me Dragoon? It’s not as easy as that. Assuming if I saved or my boss did, then whatever karmic backlash that happens is going to snap violently and suddenly, most often when we at least want it or at least expect it. This isn’t something you can divine accurately, and for that I need someone who is extremely skilled in the art of divinations.” you reply.

“...Without your boss knowing.” the Dwarven cleric replies.

“Exactly. I got the report from the underworld and I want another one from Antegra herself.” you reply. “Don’t bother lying to me about not being able to contact her either. Given the preparations Celestia is doing for this invasion I know you can get her attention at a moments notice.”

“And what would be the name of this person you’re trying to save?” The man balancing on the sword asks.

Ugh... Mention her name and she may become a VIP for Celestian groups, don’t mention it and they may call you out on lying...
>>
>>36748568
Tell them, but point out that assuming brooklyn actually cares about her means admitting both that he is the same person he used to be, and that he can have nonselfish thoughts. So clearly, its a waste of effort for them to care about some mortal, unless their religion is a colossal lie.
>>
Gonna take a short break to grab some food, haven't eaten since breakfast

I'd go again't this on the basis that if Celestia get to her before us, it will be a big bargaining chip and hostage to use against us, and i don't trust them to not kill her given the chance.

>>36749144
She's already in our castle.
>>
>>36749163
And i still don't trust them to not try and kidnap her, she is Brooklyn's weak point and one they will capitalise on given the chance, such as during the attack
>>
>>36748568
Don't say her name, they will use it one way or another.
>>
I wonder if faking her death would get around fates fuckery.
>>

>>
>>36748568
Tell them she's an unconnected innocent caught in the cruel game of fate, she's a random civilian who is only involved because she has a brother, she is a bystander in all these conflicts so why the fuck should fate decide that she dies for no fault of her own

Appeal to their ideals of protecting the innocent and righting injustices

>>36750035
It's pretty damn hard to fake out the universe itself.

I say we try and let her die in a way that lets her come back as a ghost or something. It was stated upthread that they don't really bother to fuck with undead who aren't causing problems.

Fuck that shit, we are not letting excel die, we are not letting Brooklyn a sister die just because you don't want to fight for her

Fuck that bullshit, we will not kill her because fate is a cunt, we WILL save her
>>
>>36750100
I say you can go screw yourself if you think we'll kill her because you can't be passed to put in the effort to save her
>>
>>36750100
It's not about tricking the universe, it's about figuring out what the universe wants. If the conditions that preclude the cascade only need Brooklyn to act accordingly to his sister being dead then faking it and hiding her away someplace would accomplish that.

Of course that may not cut it, but that's what divining is for.

“I won’t be telling any of you that information. My boss already has enough crap on her plate and the last thing I need happening is you guys attempting to break into the castle during your raid.” you explain.

“Then as far as we’re concern Reaper, you’re only talkin’ air. No matter what the cause, we at the church are ready for just such a situation to happen!” the Dwarf cleric says.

“Be reasonable Dwarf, this is something far beyond your forces would be able to handle. Even if you took over Old TO, you will not have the resources or manpower to deal with the karmic backlash, especially with the date it’s happening on. This not only concerns me, but it also concerns your boss and how to establish a permanent foothold in Old TO. A failure to report to your boss about a potential karmic backlash will be *your* own fault, and the people of Old TO will suffer for it. You can search your moral philosophy all you want, but the pact between Celestia and the Underworld states that it’s within my own legal right to immediately bring this problem across to *all* parties in the war.” You say pointing at the Dwarf. “Do me a favor, go call your boss before I have to inform people that you *knew* of this fact beforehand yet didn’t do anything about it.”

“...Well met Reaper.” The Indian man says balancing on his sword. “Crizal, get him a meeting with Antegra.”

“A-A meeting!? He works for the Succubus Lord of Old TO!” The cleric protests.

“And Celestia works for the people. If the Reaper tells the people about this backlash then it doesn’t matter if we controlled it or not, people will be angry that we simply didn’t do anything about it.” the man on the sword comments. “I’ll say it again, give him the audience.”

The dwarf looks around in a panic, seeing that nearly everyone has sided with the man on the sword. “Fine, but I warn ye, if she ignores you then it’s your problem!”

“I expected as much.” you say, following after the Dwarf as he walks over to a nearby hidden wall section, taking down the barrels one at a time until you can see a small hidden Celestian shrine behind the barrels. The hourglasses, books, and magnifying glasses all show that this is the shrine of some sort of Angel Diviner, so at least you’re on the right track.

The dwarf kneels in front of the shrine, giving out his prayer in the native Dwarven language. The entire ritual takes a few minutes, but sure enough the small statue of the angel on the altar slowly begins to move and take shape from a generic angel into a short haired female angel, glasses on her face and a tomb in her hand. Robes are draped across her body, but details about colour are hard to make out as the statue is only ivory and gold.

“My servant told me of your interference Reaper. Speak your business.” the angel statue declares, looking up at you from the statue.

“Sure, send your lackies away first. The business we have to discuss is between you and me alone Antegra.” you snap back at her.

The Antegra statue sighs as she mentions this. “Go.”

“B-But Lady Antegra!” Tal’la stammers.

“Go upstairs and leave us. Don’t worry about the Reaper, he won’t get far if he destroys the shrine. Don’t make me repeat myself again.” Antegra orders them again.

The Adventurers bite their lips, but listen to the orders of the statue, each one giving you a glare as they advance upstairs.

“Must be nice to have dogs that loyal to you.” you say as the Adventurer’s vanish.

“So says the dog serving a master himself.” Antegra replies. “Don’t pretend I don’t know about your relationship with Brooklyn. You’ve taken a liking to her.”

“Not romantically.” you reply.

“Are you hoping to spare her sister the same fate as you had to perform on your own br-”

“Utter one more word and I will destroy the souls of each and every one of your precious Adventurers myself.” you immediately snap at the statue.

“So I did hit a nerve then did I?” Antegra asks with a cocked head.

“I can’t believe I ever went out with you...” you mutter to yourself.

(What do you want to ask Antegra?)

“I know Brooklyn will do everything possible to prevent her sister’s death, which only makes this problematic. Last time Brooklyn saved someone it was the straw the broke the camels back in terms of karma, and I fear the same may happen again in Old TO. I need to find out whenever saving Excel Browning will cause a Karmic backlash.” you tell Antegra.

“Give me a moment.” Antegra says, looking into her book and flipping through the pages. The room remains deathly silent except for the turning of small stone pages.

“Yes, I can see the scenes in my book. This happens whenever Excel is left alive, though more damage is done if Brooklyn attempts to shortcut it by turning her into a Succubus.” Antegra announces.

“God damnit...” you say sighing yourself, rubbing your forehead.

“Maybe it has something to do with how she makes Succubi? I’ve been trying to find out how Br-”

“What other options do I have?” you ask Antegra. “I know you know ways around this Antegra.”

“Technically they are not ways around, but rather getting fate to accept it. All fate cares about is Excel dying, the soul is not as important.” Antegra replies. “The first option is to elect her as your apprentice. This will save her life but at the same time she’s counted as ‘dead’ by fate.”

“...My Apprentice?” you ask. “My boss hates me. *Why* would he allow me to have an apprentice?”

“You’ve worked long enough to legally have one, and if you do work in Old TO it’s entirely reasonable to ask for one. Your boss does things by the book, so in all likelihood he’ll listen to your request.” Antegra explains. “...Of course this means that she’ll need to become a Reaper proper, and you of all people know what that job entails.”

“Took me years to get used to some of the messed up things I saw.” you reply.

“Yes, but the other option is letting Excel become a vampire.” Antegra comments. “You know the date and time of Excel’s death, so arrange a vampire to be there. Once the kamic balancing happens and Excel ‘dies’ in her accident, the vampires would be more than happy to make Excel into a vampire just to have a vampiric representative in Brooklyn’s new court.”

“You think Excel would deal with those bloodsuckers?” you ask.

“The very act of her being there could be leverage, plus it could be useful to have a show of faith for a high ranking vampire in the court.” Antegra replies. “The last solution is to copy Excel’s memory. I know the Miyian’s in the university nearby could do this. If you wanted, you can have them construct a false body for Excel and copy her memories to it. The Excel copy will have all of the thoughts, memories, and emotions of the original Excel, but at the same time fate will consider her dead.”

“Any more?” you ask.

“The last would be to let the fey have her, keep her within the Feywyld until she’s outside of Fate. However fey are...”

“Fey?” you reply.

“Unpredictable yes. You may may be able to ask them to keep her soul and memories intact, but who knows what else they’d do. If anything they may set her up on a sick game to hunt down stray wyld creatures on a timer before she becomes a Feywyld monster herself.”

"I think I saw a show about that once." you reply to Antegra.

why is each option giving her to some faction? making her a slave to each 'savior' to be their pawn? why can't she be her own person after we save her? because currently every single alternative is essentially death and slavery, and worse than trying to fight fate, so what the fuck?
>>
>>36751107
Can brook make Excel a succubutt after she becomes a vamp if she does?

Because none of those options are appealing in any way and succubutting her has always been our goal concerning her ever since we learned she was still alive, which this spits in the face of.
>>
>>36751515
Hardly slavery. She does retain ties to each faction that saves her, but she is not a slave any more than our students are slaves for becoming succubi.

So, can we assume that Brodin doesn't decide, but takes the offer to Excel who Does decide what we do?

From a political perspective, whoever 'saves' Excel gains a large volume of influence with Brooklyn... Vampires would be likely to try and use Excel to overthrow Brooklyn as would the Myians... the Reaper path holds the potential of mentally 'breaking' her due to the kind of things she will experience and have to do...

Fey is effectively a Mystery Box as it is nigh on impossible to truly understand the thought process of a Fey...

I'm going to vote for D as it has the most potential to get Excel what she wants without running the high risk of the Karmic Backlash...

>>36752213
I would rather not take any of these shitty convoluted deals when we already decided what to do, as you said, some time ago, more than 6 months ago in fact. and 2 months ago Excel herself made the same decision.

That is not the problem. That is why we are angry and pissed off with this situation. The problem is that for god knows why, our plans and Excel's plans to become a succubut have just been deigned as "totally impossible for ever never going to happen and you can't stop it".

Why can't we fight for her? And don't say we can, because just letting the karmic backlash happen is not fighting for her, thats just a shitty railroad.

You run your hands across your face. “This is going to suck no matter what I do.”

“No one said this was going to be easy Brodin.” Antegra warns.

Hm... Wait a second, Brooklyn originally died *before* becoming a Succubus.

“So you’re saying the soul only needs to leave the body in most cases.” you reply.

“Or be completely integrated into another system of Fate yes, be it either the Fey’s or the Underworld’s.” Antegra replies. “Fate only cares about the person dying, attempting to transmute someone into something else while they’re still alive tends for Fate to get upset. Vampires bypass this by their progeny temporarily becoming dead. So long as the soul is ripped out of the body and there’s a corpse, then it doesn’t care as much.”

This doesn’t make much sense. In that case Brooklyn shouldn’t have been a straw at all. Erika being a straw makes sense, but for the events happening to Langy’s outrage to have happened she’d need to be something akin to an anvil not a piece of straw.

“Is there anything that causes fate to be more... delicate for certain periods of time?” you ask.

“Only in times of great prophecy, that isn’t the case. But that’s not the case, I checked the majority of your Realm and there is nothing particularly noteworthy that’d warrant such a thing. It’d have to be something akin to an extraplanar entity for us not to notice.” Antegra replies. “...I do understand your concern. I’ll try and run a second search, but that may take some time.”
>>
>>36752819
So taking Excel to the Queen's shrine, killing her and having them bring her back as a succubutt would work?

If so then we should probably talk to Excel about this, and get her to convince Brooklyn to help and not make things worse.

We need to find out what the Queen's need to do the same thing they did to Brook, but this time to Excel.
>>
>>36752819

not sure if this is a 'wat do' moment, if so then >>36752082 this again
>>
>>36752896
The downside here would be that Brooklyn's absence might be noticed, anyone tracking Brooklyn might notice the teleportation to the shrine, and so on.
>>
>>36753104

It is. I left it open in case any more questions wanted to be asked.
>>
>>36753135
well Brooklyn shouldn't be needed at the shrine, just Brodin and Excel and the Queens

the 'convince brook to help' bit was more intended to mean that we need to get him to understand, to get him to see that we have a plan for saving Excel, and that trying to succubutt her while she's still alive will only make things worse. I meant it more to get brook to agree with and co along with our plan if it will work

when brook first died and got succubutted, he was the only one there, theres no need for him to be at the shrine, just open a portal up, send brodin and excel through with whatever else the queens need to save her, then have brodin kill her on the queens altar or something, protect her soul so it doesn't get sucked away or anything and so the queens can turn her into a succubut
>>
Is it possible to hold someone's soul fully detached from anything? or does it need to be bound?
Could you turn an incorporeal being into a Succubus?
Also, the fact that Brooklyn pinged as 'not dead' suggests that the protections around the queens prison hide things from fate, such as Brooklyns death, so unless we can get the ritual done somewhere else....

Could we get the Subota's to perform the ritual under the guidance of their mother in the Library? or is it something that only the queens themselves can do?
>>
>>36753256
Yeah we need to ask all of these, except any mention of the queens, we save that for talking to them directly.

>Also, the fact that Brooklyn pinged as 'not dead' suggests that the protections around the queens prison hide things from fate, such as Brooklyns death, so unless we can get the ritual done somewhere else....
Well do we know this for a fact? Brodin himself just said that Brooklyn died, then became a succubutt, and he was sent to investigate the oddity, and what he found was a person who is alive after dying, and the corpse of the dead person. So that seems to meet the requirements which shouldn't exclude the shrine and the queens from being able to perform whatever ritual they did to brooklyn.

But first things first, we need to know whether killing Excel and having the queens turn her into a succubutt will work, and what they need, resources or whatever, to successfully do this ritual.
>>
>>36753342
derp, forgot to link to >>36752819 to vote

we should ask those questions that don't mention the queens, and save the rest for talking to the queens themselves, we need to get an audience with them ASAP
>>
>>36753256

>Is it possible to hold someone's soul fully detached from anything? or does it need to be bound?

"I see detached souls all the time, those people are dead. Think of souls rotting just like a body, only it happens *far faster* after a person dies and stops pretty soon after it. From what I recall about Brooklyn's and the Queen's though, Brooklyn's soul was snatched before it went to a trip to the underworld, and was preserved inside of the Queen's Astral... Whatever they were in, point is it was completely outside of Fate, static, and Brooklyn was sucked into it before his soul could rot into an undead one. In theory, Excel's soul should be no different. My lamp even capture's lose spirits and keeps them in stasis, so I should be able to do the same... Hopefully."

>Performing the ritual

"I don't know much about magic compared to Brooklyn, but I know the ritual can be taught to others, and Succubi powerful enough should be able to perform it as well. The Subota's should be able to cast it without much problems, but remember the ritual can only make a duplicate of the Succubus, so they can only make Okarians or Laminians. Beck would rather die than help an Okarian. Rebecca... may be able to do it. I have no idea of her power compared to the others."

Worse case, Excel dies on the altar and spends some time in Queen's Astral Space, likely getting tortured by Lamia until we do get the needed resources."

Right then, we need to talk to Excel about this ASAP, then talk to Brooklyn about this and calm him down, and get him on board with this plan and find out from the Queens how much aether they will need or whether one of the other clan leaders in Old T.O can do the ritual.

I can't find the thread when Excel said she wanted to be succubutted, I think its in 73/74, its missing from the moe and 4plebs archives so I don't know if there exists a backup of that particular thread anymore, point of this tangent was that I can't remember what caste Excel might have wanted to become, we should talk about that with her and the Queens.

If I recall, Brooklyn came out as a succubus, not just a girl and Excel wanted to become one as she wanted the Body-morphing abilities. May have also been biased due to living in Succubus Central...

Yeah, the Queens popped a new body into existence and shoved Brook's soul into it and made him a succubutt, dunno how they made his new body though, might be something to ask them when we talk to them

...Oh piss. That actually annoys me a bit. Oh well, no used crying over split milk.

As for Excel's views, she may be biased yes. As she was growing up, Succubus were 'below' her social caste, but being a demon was an upgrade that only the stupid or zealous refused.

She wanted to become an Ayarian as it's common knowledge that Ayarian's used to be the caste that ruled the Old World (Public perspective, not truth), thus she wants to be a part of them since she think's they're the strongest.

want to ask excel but afraid that asking her would trigger her death or she would freak out. could giver her a soul stone like object perhaps just in case. Basically present her with her options stressing that your on her side

Rebeca possibly could still turn her into a succubus but not sure if she is powerful enough to do that to only a spirit. how ever would excel even want to be near Rebeca?

personally i am leaning more towards fey excel or reaper excel. think angel would be interesting but that opens a bunch of can of worms and favors and shit.

keep in mind reaper apprentice is always an option even if we screw up royally.

“...I’m going to talk to her about this.” you say standing back up.

“Telling a mortal that their death is near tends to backfire, you know that Brodin.” Antegra replies.

“Common rookie mistake, but the difference is that I should at least be able to reason with her about this.” you say grabbing your scythe.

“It’d be easier just to arrange things happening in the background.” Antegra replies.

“Then Brooklyn would beat me within an inch of my life if she ever found out. I’m not going to risk that.” you say. “Thank you Antegra for your assistance in this matter. I trust you’ll keep it discreet?”

“If my followers find out about Excel by themselves, then that is your problem. Still, good luck Brodin. You’ll be needing it.” Antegra says as the state forms back to normal.

“No kidding.” you say with a sigh as you begin to head back to the castle.

******

You head back to the castle, taking care to make sure Brooklyn isn’t inside of the castle when you return. Thankfully she’s out at the library when that happens, so you don’t need to worry about Brooklyn in the castle and somehow overhearing this conversation.

Excel is inside of her room in the castle, and has taken to the noble life like nearly all newcomers. Snapping up as much luxury goods as possible on a binge before burning themselves out. Really can’t blame her, hell you accidently drank yourself to death several times upon becoming a Reaper.

Excel is behind a changing curtain in her room as her handmaidens are inside of it. The Handmaidens notice you entering, and quickly leave with you motion towards the door with your thumb. Many demons are not that powerful and often don’t want to refuse a Reaper any requests without a good reason.

“What do you think of this one? I thought it was a bit too long down around the legs, but do you th-” Excel stops showing off her black dress when she walks around the corner, noticing you almost immediately. “...Aren’t you the Reaper that’s always hanging around my brother?”

“Name’s Brodin.” you reply flatly.

“Alright Brodin, what are you doing here barging in on my room and sending my handmaidens away?” Excel asks with her arms crossed.

You simply stare flatly at her for several seconds. During this time she appears to reach her own conclusion as her eyes widen and mouth opens a bit.

“No... You’re not...” Excel says, panic running up her face.

“Excellence Browning, you will die in approximately 86 hours, 41 minutes, and 13 seconds. In the event that you do not die, I will be forced engage Article 2 Section B of my job requirements as a Reaper of the dead.” you reply with a sigh.

“W-What!? Die!? That can’t be right! It has to be some sort of sick joke! This is the first time I’ve seen my brother in years! I don’t care if he’s become a Succubus or whatever, and not only that I’ve finally been able to see him become something, AND I’ve gotten my father back! You’re saying that after nearly all of my family has been put back together that you’re going to slay one of us without a second thought!?” Excel demands.

“I don’t want you to die.” you sternly replies.

“Then don’t do it!” Excel replies.

“My boss will do it for me then, and believe me he’s no where as merciful as I am. Now would you mind sitting down so I can explain how this whole situation can work with you surviving?” you ask.

“Noted.” you reply.

“As for a Reaper... What does that entail exactly?” Excel asks.

“If you live out past your normal time, there’s a chance a Reaper may offer you a chance to become a Reaper rather than dying. After that you’re whisked away to the underworld in order to be converted into a Reaper and placed within the fate of the Underworld. You’re then placed under an apprenticeship who you scouted you and go around doing all the tasks that are assigned to Reapers, which is to maintain the order between the living and the dead.” Brodin replies. “...Your skin becomes a bit pale but otherwise you’ll be fine.”

“I meant what’s it like working and living as one.” Excel asks.

“On paper it seems like an amazing job. You don’t work set hours but rather a quota. So long as you meet this quota you can do whatever you want. The Diplomatic Immunity protecting Reapers is... really abusive. So long as you don’t kill VIP’s or disrupt the balance too heavily then there’s technically nothing you’re not allowed to do. Some things you get somewhat used to, like trying to be friendly with a guy when you can glance at him and know he’s going to die in a week. Other times you need to need to head out and kill innocent people... children... Other times you arrive at murder scenes to see the spirit of a person crying over their corpse. Don’t get me wrong, I still prefer this job compared to my death but it does... wear on you for a while. They try to help with psychological programs and other things, but it still wears you out. Suicide isn’t an option either, as when you take the contract you’re expected to work for a certain duration, and remember if you die you’re going right back to that spirit waiting room.”

“What of Vampires then? Being in the realm of the dead, you should have experience of them.” Excel asks.

“Vampires are a category of Lust Demon, but they do identify as some sort of Creature of death yes. Vampires are... insanely strong. Just picture a Succubus with the strength and speed of a Belkarian, durability and regeneration of an Aide, magical power of an Okarian, and the social prowess of Succubi mixed into one package minus the shapeshifting.” you explain. “I don’t really enjoy fighting them head on, a majority of sane people don’t. They do need to drink blood, but any blood will do. I mean back where I came from I found out they even used blood banks for the ones that didn’t want to harm mortals.”

“Don’t they have a ton of weaknesses though?” Excel asks.

“Their power comes with an assortment of weaknesses. Sunlight will kill the vast majority of them with prolonged exposure and none of their magic that stop that problem, garlic makes them violently ill, silver makes them nauseous, a steak through the heart will paralyze you instantly, and they throw up if they attempt to eat any sort of solid food. Vampires have castes like Succubi, but I forget how they work off the top of my head.”

“And the Succubus ritual?” Excel asks.

“...I know of the place where Brooklyn became a Succubus, but I’m not going to tell you in case you are captured and forced to talk or something like that. What I can say that it involves an astral prison. If we kill you in that location, your spirit would be sucked into the astral prison before it can even begin to rot. If the ritual is performed in the astral prison and we transform your soul into that of a Succubus, then we can construct a new body for you once your old one dies. I know for a fact that method works. We could try another method in Old TO involving you and my Soul Lamp, but I’m only 80% on that compared to the 100% on the former.” you explain. “Hell in the astral prison if anything goes wrong, then you can just remain there until we can get it right.”

“So matter what I take I die, is that the jist?” Excel asks.

“Technically you don’t die when you become a Reaper, but yea.” you explain to Excel.

Excel sighs as she leans back into her chair, looking up at the ceiling. “I’m... I’m not sure about this. Becoming a Reaper is an option, but I’m not sure what my mother would think of me using a weapon to harm innocent people whose only crime it is being lucky. I won’t lie and say that the vampire isn’t tempting just for the power, but I’d miss the sunlight. Becoming a Succubus is an option, but if I cause karmic retribution I’m not sure if I can live with myself causing so many innocents to die. I... I don’t honestly know what to do here...”

“Why didn’t you bring this up with Brooklyn!?” Excel demands.

“Your siste- Brother has enough on her plate already. She’s overloaded to the point of near exhaustion, and frankly this is going to be your choice, not hers. So sit down and let me explain have I’ve learned up to this point.” you say to her again.

Once Excel has a seat she begins to listen to your story in detail, starting with what you’ve learned from your friend Rika and from Antegra. About how Erika’s demonization snapped fate threads and it’s connection to Langy’s rampage, and how Excel may be the key for the event to happen again.

“This entire situation is bullshit.” Excel simply exclaims.

“It’s my job to clean up after messes, so I like to know what potential messes may happen.” you reply.

“In that case fuck becoming an android or going over to the fey. One involves actually dying and the other...” Excel visibly shivers. “I’m not going over with the fey. Let Brooklyn know I’d rather die *and remain dead* than to go with the fey.”

“Noted.” you reply.

>Becoming a Succubus is an option, but if I cause karmic retribution I’m not sure if I can live with myself causing so many innocents to die. I... I don’t honestly know what to do here...”
The entire point of getting the queens to do it is so she can die and become a succubus WITHOUT causing the karmic backlash, can we explain that to her?

because if it doesn't get around the karmic backlash then whats the point of it? the whole reason we came up with that plan is to avoid it and have Excel survive as a succubus
>>
>>36755145
>but if I cause karmic retribution I’m not sure if I can live with myself causing so many innocents to die
Uhh did we not explain that that ritual avoids the karmic retribution? Seems kind of odd that we didn't.

If the queen's ritual does work just like it did with Brook, and the moment she dies and her soul gets put in the queens astral prison we don't need to worry about the karmic backlash, then we should do that option, it has a safety net of safely keeping her soul in the astral prison until we can fix things and it has the least downsides

becoming a reaper would turn Excel into a twisted and bitter withered skeleton of who she is, and it would destroy her, I doubt she could take it

becoming a vampire has its perks, but hot damn does it have its cons, and likewise would destroy Excel

I think getting the Queen's powered up, and mercifully killing her in the Queen's shrine on their altar and safely getting her soul into their astral prison to be transformed into a succubus is the best option
>>
>>36755145
>Becoming a Succubus is an option, but if I cause karmic retribution I’m not sure if I can live with myself causing so many innocents to die.
I'm confused as to where this bit comes from seeing as the single prerequisite for the karmic shitstorm is Excel living past her date of death, which if we go with the succubutt plan
>If we kill you in that location, your spirit would be sucked into the astral prison before it can even begin to rot. If the ritual is performed in the astral prison and we transform your soul into that of a Succubus, then we can construct a new body for you once your old one dies.
avoids triggering the karmic backlash as she dies, and fate does not care where her soul goes to, only that she dies, after she dies, it doesn't care whether she comes back as a succubus or not.

If Brodin didn't explain this to her he should. as I imagine that would change her mind on the issue seeing as she wouldn't be causing the karmic retribution by becoming a succubus, because she dies first.
>>
>>36755245

Excel's concerned about the very possibility of it.

Kind of like a buyers remorse I guess, can't find the proper words.
>>
>>36755145

The prison confuses fate, and thus has the increased chance of setting off the 'Karmic Retribution', and Excel would rather become a Succubus...
Voting for the Soul Lamp Proxy Ritual. Fate will be certain of Excel's 'Death' by clearly noting one corpse and one 'Reaper Claimed' Soul...
Might want to have a Necromancer to hand though... just in-case Excel can't 'escape' the lamp...
>>
>>36755293
Ah, it seemed like Brodin just didn't comment about how that plan is designed specifically to avoid the karmic fecal flurry.

And while I can understand her being concerned on it, I can also imagine her seeing how becoming a reaper or a vampire are massively inferior to becoming a succubus.

She wouldn't be able to live with herself in all three cases if the worst case scenario is achieved, except two of the cases are already worst case, and the third is built to avoid and combat that worst case scenario from coming to be.
>>
>>36755306
>The prison confuses fate, and thus has the increased chance of setting off the 'Karmic Retribution'
What?

No it doesn't, where has this been said?

Fate gives no shits about the prison, only about whether she lives or dies, and if she dies before her soul enters the prison, then fate is satisfied and no longer cares about what happens to her soul from that point on.
>>
>>36755145
No matter what her choice is, lets remind her of the various cons of being a vampire (and that's she'd be a political bargaining chip of sorts), why being a Succubus isn't all it's cracked up to be as well as what the clans are like (and why Ayarian isn't the best, just a decent choice).
>>
>>36755306
>Might want to have a Necromancer to hand though... just in-case Excel can't 'escape' the lamp...
And do what? Bring her back as a ghoul or zombie?
Fuck that, also
>The prison confuses fate, and thus has the increased chance of setting off the 'Karmic Retribution'
Where are you getting that from? Its not mentioned anywhere and doesn't make sense with how fate works on this issue.
If we can't immediately turn Excel into a succubus with the queens ritual, then her soul stays nice and safe in the astral prison with the queens for company, and fate gets its dead body.
>>
>>36755349
>why being a Succubus isn't all it's cracked up to be
Well apart from the caste weaknesses and feeding economics, it is all its cracked up to be.
>>
>>36755349

As a point of clarification, the Vampire route doesn't mean Excel would need to be with the vampires. All she'd need to do is exist and the vampires get their 'reputation'.
>>
>>36755386
though they would likely still try to use her as a political tool
>>
My point about the Astral Prison is based on the fact that No-one can find out about it through any magic means, which suggests that things like 'Fate' don't register it's existence, making anything that goes into its AoE 'Schroedinger Cat', thusly classifies it as still alive. So, for it to work, Excel would have to 'die' at the shrine, her body moved out of the Shrines area of influence so that fate can go, 'yep, she dead' THEN be reborn as a Succubus...

Though clearly I don't know anything and am simply trolling everyone. Don't mind me then.
>>
>>36755435
>So, for it to work, Excel would have to 'die' at the shrine, her body moved out of the Shrines area of influence so that fate can go, 'yep, she dead' THEN be reborn as a Succubus...
Perfectly legitimate.

As soon as Brodin kills her, the queens grab her soul and cuddle it close, then Brodin moves her body outside of the shrines influence and fate is satisfied she's dead. Then the queens can to their magic.
>>
>>36755477
This sounds like the best plan, it avoids the karmic backlash and Excel is safe inside with the queens until it is time to transform her into a succubutt.

Brodin should explain this to Excel, and then they should go and get Brooklyn in on this plan, because they will need his help to get the aether for the queens, and to communicate with the queens themselves to set this up.
>>

I'm going to go on a hunch that we're going to need like five times the normal number of souls for that, though. It's ideal, but the reality is it's the most difficult of the options. We'd be putting the responsibility of getting all of those souls onto Brooklyn, who's dealing with a lot of shit right now.

well the good part is the safety net of the astral prison, where Excel's soul can stay as long as it takes to get what is needed for the ritual

Well, we've narrowed it down to succubus or vampire. Those are both options that Brodin wouldn't be able to do without consulting Brooklyn, so maybe she should go break the situation to Brooklyn and ask how feasible it would be to build her a body (I assume it'll be cheaper than it was making Brooklyn, but not as cheap as turning someone). If it's feasible, we go with that. If it's not, we re-explore the option of vampirism.

On the way over to your contact, you stop along the way to buy Excel a black cloak, similar to your own. Sure it may be a white lie that Excel is a “Reaper in training”... The very implication of diplomatic immunity should be enough to ward off most people.

“...I feel depressed just by wearing this.” Excel states as you walk on up to a nearby multi-story old world building.

“Na it’s great, black makes people look slimming.” you say as you enter the building. “Now remember you’re my apprentice looking to find out about vampires. Since you’ve just become a Reaper, you still appear to be a mortal in most senses. This is important as she’ll be able to smell us.”

You climb up about five flights of stairs before you reach your location, heading over to a nearby door and pounding on it as hard as you can with your fist.

“Brodin the entire floor can hear that.” Excel states.

“The room’s soundproofed, so I’m hoping she does hear it.” you say knocking on the door a few more times before it slowly swings open.

What appears on the other end is a yawning girl in a pink nightgown. She rubs her eyes as she adjusts her vision. “...Brodin? What are you doing here? ...Is it time for me to beat you?”

“No that’s not for another 18 years or so. Sorry to bother your sleep, but my apprentice is here to ask some questions about vampires.” you say motioning to Excel.

Could Amanda or another Myian create an item which could allow a Vamp to go out during the day? Even without access to its external Magic?

Also, what kind of powers would a Vamp get? Would they have a large array of social magic? Because that is one of the things that Excel seemed to want... I assume they can't have the psionic abilities that the Arians have...

The vampire girl looks at Excel for a few moments. “Why do you smell like a human?”

“Why do you look like pink mop?” Excel asks while looking at her hair.

“Pardon?” The vampire asks.

“She just joined recently and she’s... not too happy about it. May we come in?” you ask.

The vampire looks at you oddly before turning around. “Fine... You’re lucky I don’t have work tonight.”

“What could someone like you wwwoooorr...” Excel’s tone slowly goes down as she enters the vampire’s room. While it is incredibly dark inside, Excel is able to make out all of the pink wallpaper and stuffed animal pillows doting the room. Things such as frilled pillows, dresses, lamps, and every possible spectrum of the colour pink seems to assault her senses. “...This is literally the girliest room I have ever been in.”

“But it’s cute! I needed something to help brighten up the place a bit!” the vampire girl says. Now that the girl has had some time to adjust, you can see that she appears to be a young woman with long blond hair, red eyes, and fair white skin; not pale white the dead would have “My name is Lucy by the way!”

“...Are you sure you’re a vampire?” Excel asks.

Lucy replies by pulling up her lips with her hands, showing what appears to be two large dagger like teeth in her mouth. All of the teeth in her mouth appear to be sharp, but the two fangs appear to stand out most of all. “They tend to get longer whenever I have to feed on someone the traditional way, but that’s incredibly messy.”

“And your wings?” Excel asks.

Lucy grabs the hem of her nightgown and lifts it up, showing what appears to be wings from her back wrapped around her chest area. “A little uncomfortable, but I’m used to it. I have to do this every day or else a mortal may try and report me.”

“Why don’t you just have part of the nightgown tailored for your wings?” you ask.

Lucy gasps. “I’d *never* defile such a cute nightgown like this! I’d sooner rather die!”

“I expected something far more... regal from a vampire.” Excel bluntly states.

“Hey! Vampires are people too!” Lucy pouts, putting her nightgown back down. “I just like cute things, not flashy things!”

“How do you go about feeding and survival?” Excel asks.

“Survival is the tricky bit in all honesty.” Lucy says as she stands up, walking over to a dresser that seems to have an array of makeup in front of it. She then takes out a small container with two small circles, opening it up to show what appears to be two irises floating in liquid. “I asked some Miyians you make me Old World Contacts. Vampires have natural red eyes, so we tend to stand out and wearing sunglasses at night is just uber obvious. The wings are taken care of if I wrap the around my torso. I *could* probably fly, but it’s been years since I’ve done so. I didn’t want to have Lord Dio find out about me and even with Dutchess Brooklyn’s new commands, people *still* don’t trust vampires that much.” Lucy’s cheeks puff up as she fumes. “I blame the others for making us look like jerks.”

“Anything else problematic about fitting in with mortals?” you ask.

“A few. We can taste just fine, but eating solid food will make us throw up eventually. I’d probably say that’s the trickiest part, as people will want to know you eat something. In terms of blood I usually get mine from the vampires in the sewers. They have their thralls donate blood to vampires like us. I find the very idea of harming mortals on purpose completely dreadful!” Lucy states as she closes her contact case.

“That and she had to bite the first guy she fed on nearly 12 times before finding a vein.” you chuckle.

“Hey! You promised you wouldn’t tell!” Lucy says pouting.

“I’m sorry, but it was just so funny at the time.” you reply.

“Yes and it reminded me of *why* I have blood bags even if people willingly offer their blood to me!” Lucy then replies.

“What kind of abilities do you have?” Excel asks.

“Uh... Pretty potent ones come to think of it. Often times I see and hear things that ordinary mortals shouldn’t, and quite frankly the only people I found who I can relate to on that are the Gemelli.” Lucy replies. “I’m also a lot stronger, faster, and can cast a bit of dark magic in order to make my life easier. Getting harmed isn’t that big of an issue, as one time I was stabbed by a mugger in an alley but I healed myself back up a few minutes later. The weaknesses are a... problem at times I have to admit. Sunlight hurts *so much*, and even going out in overcast makes you get a sunburn. I had to quit my waitressing job because we served so many garlic related foods that I’d just feel nauseous all the time, I also *really* miss baths and showers...”

“Wait, you can’t shower?” Excel asks.

“Can’t cross running water, or in this specific case, being submersed in it. I use sponge baths to clean myself and my hair most often. One reason I came to Canada was the neverending winter. There’s no rain, so I don’t need to worry.” Lucy replies. “I mean I *can* safely cross water if I sleep in a coffin which is on top of dirt from the most recent place I stayed, but trying to get a coffin smuggled across the border was *really* hard.”

“That water thing is only clan specific isn’t it?” Brodin asks.

“Yea, it is. In exchange I’m not affected by silver and I have slightly better Earth magic... If I actually knew how to cast it.” Lucy explains. “There are a few other vampire types that I know of. Some can walk in daylight without burning themselves, but are weakened significantly by it. Come to think of it Vampire clans are different than Succubi clans. Vampire clans are normally separated by vampires who often have unique weaknesses and may resist something that vampires are normally weak to.”

“I’m... sorry that you have to put up with these prejudices Lucy. I thought when Dutchess Brooklyn made her equality speech, it also made vampires equal as well.” Excel says, seeming to apologize.

Excel waves her hand. “Vampires get a lot more slack than Succubi do. While Succubi, I find, are often brought into the light and go anywhere, we vampires are basically forced into darkness. We get *a lot* of power yea, but at the same time people distrust us more not only because of that power, but because we drain the vital stuff of people rather than the soul. I mean when a Succubus drains by a kiss, people often feel tipsy but it’s like a pleasant high. When a vampire bits you, you still feel tipsy, then it’s *very* quickly replaced by horror when you realize you have two bleeding holes on your neck. I do wonder if it’d be fixed in time though. I mean Succubi were somewhat accepted by people even when Lord Dio ruled, and I’m immortal so maybe I will see it!”

“How does becoming a vampire even work?” Excel asks.

“Two ways. First is that you’re just born into it. The second is that you become a vampire the way I did. You see, when a vampire *really* meets someone he or she likes, then he or she can decide to give this person a fatal wound. Almost always it’s sucking blood out to the point where they can no longer survive, but any non-immediate fatal injury or illness works. After the person has ‘died’, the vampire than places a bit of his own blood into the person’s bloodstream. A few days later you wake up as a brand new vampire! And... incredibly hungry.” Lucy states, rubbing behind her neck.

“That’s how I met you in the first place. You completely drained the first person you saw.” you state.

“I felt *terrible* after that.” Lucy says pouting.

“It happens more often than you think, don’t knock yourself up about it.” you say reassuring her.

“You used to be a human?” Excel asks.

“Yup! I was like... 17 when I turned originally. 84 right now.” Lucy replies.

“Can this work on any mortal?” Excel asks.

“Yea, even enlightened ones. Doing so is seen as a huge slap to the face for anyone who uses enlightened mortal adventurers. Demons and Angels are immune to it though.” Lucy explains.

“Can you tell me more about the clans?” Excel asks.

“I forget the names off the top of my head, and I never really went around ‘searching’ that much either after I found out my particular bloodline. Vampire bloodlines are not as extreme as the Succubi. Vampire clans don’t get extreme or odd powers like psychic powers or super science, as we instead the whole packet from nearly every other clan. Instead a lot of clans just ignore one common weakness of vampires and may possibly gain another. For example, one vampire group can walk around in sunlight without getting burned, but their powers are badly weakened and they cannot enter the house of a person without their permission.” Lucy explains.

“And if they try?” Excel asks.

“It’s like other vampires standing naked in the sunlight. Same for me if I try crossing running water.” Lucy explains. “I mean I could get around that by bathing in blood but... Ew! Some other vampires may gain increased shadow magic power and eat normal food in exchange for being weakened around holy symbols, some others are blind in exchange for having even greater senses... Rest assured if there is a vampire weakness or myth you’ve heard about, there is likely a vampire clan out there that has that specific weakness.”

“...All these weaknesses sound terrible.” Excel states flatly.

“They... do really suck at times yes.” Lucy replies, pouting somewhat.

“Show her your jaw strength.” you say, poking at her cheek with with the heft of your scythe.

“What? No! I’ll get splinters in my mouth!” Lucy says, trying to push the scythe away.

“Come on... Just for a demonstration...” you say continuing to poke at her cheeks a bit more with the heft.

You grab hold and hold on at hard as possible before Lucy tears her head back, taking a piece of the scythe out with her jaw, having snapped it off with just her jaw strength alone.

Excel looks surprised as Lucy gently takes the piece of wood out from her mouth.

“...You didn’t have to do it with my scythe.” you bluntly say.

“Oh now you don't want me to do it~.” Lucy says innocently.

"...Your eyes can glow in the dark?" Excel asks.

"Oh yea that's the cool part!" Lucy says as her red eyes now appear to glow in the dark. "It happens when I'm hungry, but I find it a cool trick to do when I'm bored and look in the mirror!"

I honestly think we're past the point of learning new useful information. I'm personally now in favor of Excel being succubutted and Dad becoming a vampire. Because being mortal and having the potential to literally drop dead with no warning are two very significant cons. Also, having someone kidnap the angel to kidnap dad by proxy would be incredibly irritating.
Oh, and dad would probably be better at the politics than excel would be.

I dunno, having as many allies as we can get is a good thing. If Excel becomes a vampire, that makes it much easier to get the vampire clans on board. They'll probably ask for favorable legislation of course, but as long as they recognize the same population control/restrictions on use of powers on mortals as the Succubi already have to, it shouldn't be a problem.
>>
>>36766671
Yeah, but I was thinking that vamping dad would have much the same political effects, with the added bonus of Dad being MUCH more diplomatic than Excel, who frankly is barely more suited for politics than Mina.
>>
>>36766671
>I dunno, having as many allies as we can get is a good thing
If Dad becomes a vampire, we still get an ally with them. In fact, we get a more competent and knowledgeable ally and we lose an existing vulnerability in the bargain.
>>
>>36766738
think having dad remain the way he is would be good as probably all his spells would end up hurting himself with his celestial spells.

Also don't think it is necessary and being mortal does have its advantages.
>>
>>36766852

Becoming a vampire would make the anti-spells of Brooklyn's Dad become useless. They're powered by a link with an Angel (An angel that hates him but is obligated to provide them so long as he's mortal).

He'd have the same spells after becoming a vampire, but they'd lose the demon focus.
>>
>>36766852
That's not a given. We'd simply need to ensure that his bloodline isn't one that's particularly vulnerable to those spells.

And frankly, it is necessary. Pops is a timebomb whose existence hinges on one of our enemies. If that angel participates in the battle, we'll be forced to choose between letting him run amok, or offing him and killing our father at the same time. Not to mention that fact that if Dad is left as-is, we're going to end up doing this exact same song and dance a little way down the line when Brodan notices that he's fated to die in a week. Mortals are subject to destiny and destiny is an asshole.
>>
Late to the party... Again.

I think dad becoming a vampire is a great idea. So Ayarian for Excel then? It's the best option.

It's the safest for Excel and she gets what she wanted in the first place. If anything goes wrong she'll just be out for a period of time instead of forever like with the other options.

After that just have Brodin tell Brooklyn about the possibility of dad being a vampire in the near future.
>>
>>36766949
Works for me.
>>
>>36766898
What do you mean by losing the demon focus?
>>
>>36767018

Because he was enlightened by an Angel, Brooklyn's dad has spells in Fire and Light that make demons lives a living hell.

If he becomes a vampire, he'd still have the spells but they're lose the effectiveness. In DnD terms, he may still have "Holy Bolt", but it would lose the XdY bonus damage against demons.
>>
>>36767053
I don't think we knew he had anything like that. Huh. I guess it's something to think about.
>>
>>36767053
On the other hand, his spells are probably terrible at killing angels. And the Vampire magic bonus is similar to the Okerian, which would somewhat offset that.
>>
>>36767053
I don't see how his spells being extra effective against demons could be more valuable than his not being eternally soul-shackled by some douche.
>>
>>36766949
uh... i really don;t think dad becoming a vampire is a good idea as i already stated before. right now leaning towards excel being a vampire or making dam sure we avoid the karma back lash as we are already sitting on a powder keg without fate deciding everyone should die.

heck if we do make excel into a succubus she may decide to play out her death as fate dictates just to reduce the chance of backlash and have Borodin get her soul and bring her back later as a succubus of course if fate allows it (as because Brooklyn is involved nothing is easy).

wish we had the ask fate ritual would be willing to expend a charge just to ask fate what would not cause it to go insane.
>>
Alright I think that's a good place to call the thread. Best thing right now seems to be let people discuss on what'd happen to Excel.

I was planning to start off next thread before the Celestia invasion. Does anyone have things they wish to do before that?
>>
>>36767202
What. Why would dad not being a vampire be a bad idea, but in the case of Excel where there are even more negatives it somehow becomes a good idea?

If Excel becomes a succubutt in the correct way, the same way that Brooklyn became one, we have the assurances that there will be no karmic backlash and that she will definitely survive it.

Something needs to be done for dad, though. Even with that vow, he can't stay bound to an enemy if there is any reasonable way out. And this is one. We could probably also make him into a succubus to achieve the same thing, but I don't know if he'd be into the whole "dad, you're a mom now" thing.
>>
>>36767270

Other main issue with that is that there is a link between him and the angel. The angel can't see through his eyes or anything like that, but bringing him to the Astral Prison probably has risks. In the sense that him stepping inside it might cause weird things that the angel would notice
>>
>>36767331

We can do the bit with Brooklyn in the beginning of the next thread, sure.
>>
>>36767399
I don't believe so. In the case of dad, I don't think there is a need to bring him to the astral prison. That's Excel's safety net, he doesn't need one since no big karmic backlash is waiting to happen around him.

At least probably not, the act of discussing this might give sand ideas.
>>
>>36767476
Well, that's where the queens are. So if we want to turn him into a succubus, that's probably where he has to go.
>>
Hey, after this Excel thing and the Celestial invasion thing and that Miyan thing are over, do you think we might be able to go back to Brooklyn's home town, whatever it was called? Or some new place. I know Brooklyn is now the lord of old TO, but delegating responsibilities (maybe with the help of a time skip) would cover that.
>>
>>36767522
Why would we want to do that? Nobody said anything about making our dad a succubus.
>>
>>36767522
Not really. We can just bring the queens out. Since we're going to do that sooner or later anyway.

Or have someone else do the succubus creation ritual. Brooklyn could probably do it with some study time.

There are many more possibilities here because there is no rush to turn dad *right now* the way there is with Excel.
>>
>>36767531
I would rather not delegate too many of our responsibilities. I mean, becoming a demon lord was why I've stuck with this quest for so long. Would rather not throw all of that away and become a figurehead. On the plus side, we are currently in a state of war with two different powers, so part of our duties is beating them up and expanding our realm.
>>
>>36767626
>delegating is throwing away

The whole point of being an administrator is administering. I don't want Brooklyn to turn into a bureaucrat. I would definitely prefer if we still went out and did new things without constantly being bogged down by politics.
>>
>>36767670
>>delegating is throwing away
When its Shiva levels of delegation, then yes, it basically is throwing away. We are a ruler of a nation, and while I have no problem solving our realms ills personally when applicable, we shouldn't basically play hooky to be an adventurer.
>>
>>36767774
Well I didn't say we'd do it to the level of Shiva. We'd keep in touch for the important things, obviously.

Except if it's a crisis like right now, we really don't need to worry about what trading partners the city is going to have and the internal politics between succubus courts and other demons and assorted magical beings and so on.
>>
wondering what time she dies at if during celestial invasion? or after. thinking celestial forces my kill her thinking she is Brooklyn, collateral damage or failed extraction.

I am wondering as some other force may want to kill her for some reason. like the vampires looking turn excel into a vampire as leverage against Brooklyn. because that could complicate things.

another question i have is how are angles made as it is stated they are spirits.

Also why are the angles so concerned about purging everyone even mortals? As that does not seem normal for Celestia.

wondering just dieing would stop a back lash? or do we have to be very elaborate like dieing in a certain manner?

if excel still wants to be a succubus she probably is going to be looking forward to being dead as a spirit for a while. As it will take a while to gather the necessary aether.
>>
>>36767774

You'd have to try to be as bad as Shiva. Shiva pretty much does almost nothing. The only thing that Wrath Demons know is that as soon as anyone proclaims themselves as Emperor/Empress, they soon find the body in the middle of a battlefield.

Hell, Nalika even said most Wrath demons don't even know who their Empress/Emperor is, nor do they even care.
>>
>>36767886

You can do this at home. Just get two lines that aren't parallel and then touch them to each other.

We've clearly turned the city into a den of sin by conquering it. It needs to be cleansed.

>more damage is done if Brooklyn attempts to shortcut it by turning her into a Succubus

This is my biggest concern with Succubutting Excel via the queens...
The Subotas + Brodin's Soul Lamp has the 80% Success rate, but does not intrinsically incur the backlash as the astral prison method would...
Whereas the Vampire route would circumvent the Succubus = Karma issue we are attempting to avoid...
>>
>>36767983
That's circumvented by turning her into a succubus in the same way that Brooklyn was. Her body dies, she's sucked into the astral prison, and then a new body is made. 100% no backlash and perfectly safe if it's done in the shrine and the queens cooperate.
>>
>>36768040

Has Sandact spoken on this matter? cause it just doesn't sit right with me...
>>
>>36768095

>>36755137
>“...I know of the place where Brooklyn became a Succubus, but I’m not going to tell you in case you are captured and forced to talk or something like that. What I can say that it involves an astral prison. If we kill you in that location, your spirit would be sucked into the astral prison before it can even begin to rot. If the ritual is performed in the astral prison and we transform your soul into that of a Succubus, then we can construct a new body for you once your old one dies. I know for a fact that method works. We could try another method in Old TO involving you and my Soul Lamp, but I’m only 80% on that compared to the 100% on the former.”
>>
>>36767843
And yet those are largely the things I'm interested in. We can timeskip through the tedious stuff, and go on the occasional adventure to further our realms interest, but I don't want to be an absentee ruler, nore an adventurer who happens to rule an empire.
>>
>>36768199
I would prefer to go on adventures and keep the administration things occasional.
>>
>>36768230
I'm sure we'll be able to find a happy medium as long as we keep in mind a few things:
1. We are first and foremost a demon Lord, not some random adventurer. Our adventures involve dealing with threats to our realm or expanding its power, and half of thems are probably outright campaigns of conquest against pride demons or angels. We're not doing random shit while someone else does our job.
2. As a demon lord we aren't leading a plucky bad of adventures with the power of friendship. Those are the people we kill by ourselves once we reveal our final form.
3. We do actually do admin stuff in our timeskips, and deal with major issues in thread.
>>
>>36768545
>We are first and foremost a demon Lord, not some random adventurer.
Of course. But I have to add that I find what Luna is doing, posing as a random adventurer, to be incredibly appealing. I wasn't really expecting for us to do that, but this seems like the perfect place to say it.

>Our adventures involve dealing with threats to our realm or expanding its power
Not necessarily that specific. Our adventures deal with bringing the queens back and taking down the pride demons. Our reward for that was having a realm (canada-earth?), but the reward itself is secondary.

Its just fucking stupid that after we spend the majority of the thread coming up with the plan SPECIFICALLY TO ADDRESS HIS CONCERNS AND OURS an anon just completely ignores everything the characters and sand have said on it
>>
>>36768744
Well some people, including me, actually liked the quest up until now and don't want it to be turned around on its head.
>>
Oh yes, I may address this now.

My last exam is Tuesday, a flight Wednesday, then I have Christmas off, so expect smoother updates during my christmas break.

I was tempted to see if I could also start another very short quest, assuming if Exalted 3e doesn't come out.
>>
>>36767522
Why are we bringing dad to the queens to succubutt him? Where the fuck did this come from?
>>
>>36768949
We aren't, it was a tangent in a discussion.
>>
>>36768934
indeed, I can't see why we can't continue as things have been going, with a good ratio of adventuring:leading:downtime, though that last one could use a little work
>>
>>36769021
Yeah. At this point I'm hoping some other location gets visited. Not to the scale that the change from what'sitsname village to old TO, just for a few threads every now and then.
>>
>>36768545
Actually, I would prefer out-gooding them. Invite them over for dinner celebrating their accomplishments. Make them feel uncomfortable. Show the horrible things they've done.

Those that react in a half-way reasonable manner and/or have doubts can help fix things and help the realm, everyone else gets imprisonment/death.
>>
>>36769141
Well, we also have to gloat sometimes. Contractual obligation of being a dictatorial demon lord. Fortunately, the Knights Of Nii have volunteered.
>>36769021
Most of the leading stuff has been in the past few threads. Long periods of no leading interspersed with periods of nothing but leading is bad.
>>
>>36768948
>I was tempted to see if I could also start another very short quest, assuming if Exalted 3e doesn't come out.
Please don't. Use the time to run more of this quest, since experience shows that you will soon be unable to run it for a long period of time. I'm frankly astonished everyone remembered who people are.
>>
>>36769290
yeah, we need something everynow and then to break up the monotony of something, for some variety, thats where delegating and having good lieutenants comes in, if we can trust them to not make everything explode the moment we leave for a weekend spa, then alls good
>>
>>36769427
Right, but we started a war with Articus, leaving before we kill him and solidify our territory would basically be criminally negligent.
>>
>>36769458
True, but we need something to break it up otherwise it just slowly grinds us down.

You have to have a good ratio of downtime:planning for things to happen:things happening and we had that good ratio, until after the fight Celestia decided to pop their heads in 3 seconds after the biggest battle yet, for another big battle, which just destroyed what pacing we had, and meant we'll not have any downtime for a long while, and we're already in need of some.
>>
>>36769290
Lets either play the 'good' overlord or go for something classic.
>>
>>36770112
I'm all in favor of pointing out that abandoning a friend to her death, not apologizing when she miraculously survives, not bothering to find out why she survives, then taking her advice on how to intervene in a demon war and continuing to trust her afterwords was really very stupid of them. Still, the assault on the greed demons saved many succubi lives, and for that they have our thanks.
>>
Alright. So the plan for next time is to Succubutt Excel and Vamp our dad. Ideally, it would be the vampire clan most resistant to holy symbols, unless that one so happens to be the one that bursts into ash in the smallest bit of sunlight.

I also noticed a little something: it was stated that no vampire magic could mitigate their weakness to sunlight. What about succubus magic? Maybe we could get the witches to infuse some cream to make it SPF 9001 for vampire use as a peace offering. I doubt that anyone's ever done that for them, seeing as I'm guessing their leaders are mostly arrogant pricks. Along with that, maybe pills to speed up hematogenesis to make feeding for them easier, if there's a problem with that to begin with.
>>
>>36770372
>Vamp our dad
Where did this idea come from and why do we want to do it?
>>
>>36770372
>and Vamp our dad.
Why is this a priority? He's not in trouble or anything, he's fine currently and we can deal with any issues he has with the angels after the invasion. It's not like hes going to die in 80 hours or is spending every second trying to claw himself away from his situation, he's fine as is.
>>
>>36770372
In theory, if its any type of blood, the Miyuns should be able to genetically engineer a culture of cells to produce it in bulk. That isn't to far beyond what we can do IRL, and is probably only average Automata
>>
>>36770417
>>36770457
Because if some random angel dies he will drop dead in an instant. We settled this hours ago
>>
>>36770417
>>36770457

Because it's a way to cut the link between him and his angel overlord. The vow is a temporary solution, in the current situation the bond is still a liability.

It's not anywhere close to as important as Excel being succubutted. It just came up as a compromise to the people who wanted to vamp her for the purpose of having a vamp ally. Having dad as a vamp accomplishes that, plus it finally fixes the angel problem.

>>36770485
Any regular blood, yeah. Magic blood? Possibly.
>>
>>36770506

Said angel is a coward though. You don't send a Judge to the front lines.
>>
>>36770538
Yeah, but there are plenty of ways you can screw us over with said angel. Like having pride demons kidnap him. Fuck, he could trip and break his neck.
And I want to vamp dad for political reasons anyway.
>>
>>36770533
Also it avoids changing his gender, which would be what he wants... probably. We can always ask him if he wants to be a mom, I suppose, but I think he wouldn't go for it if there's an alternative.
>>
>>36770533
>Having dad as a vamp accomplishes that, plus it finally fixes the angel problem.
Which is not all that much of a problem as sand says in >>36770538

And also, why haven't you even thought of asking dad about this first?

Just randomly deciding to go "hmm I have no idea what his thoughts might be on this BUT FUCK IT I'LL TURN MY DAD INTO A VAMPIRE WITHOUT ASKING HIM OR EVEN NEEDING TO IN THE FIRST PLACE"

It's fucking creepy and retardedly short sighted.
>>
>>36770587
because we'll end up deciding it anyway. Its a fucking out of character compromise.
>>
>>36770587
>Which is not all that much of a problem
I disagree. It's a pretty big liability.

>asking
He'll probably go for it. If not, we can think up something else now that we know that THIS is a solution.

It left a really bad taste in my mouth that we just left everything once the angel gave that vow. Now we can fix it.

>BUT FUCK IT I'LL TURN MY DAD INTO A VAMPIRE WITHOUT ASKING HIM OR EVEN NEEDING TO IN THE FIRST PLACE
Anon please, this is a ridiculous strawman. Not doing anything against his will is understood as a matter of course. He's on our side.
>>
>>36770567
>And I want to vamp dad for political reasons anyway.
So you admit to not giving two shits about what our dad thinks at all and want to do it purely for political motivations...

Please leave.

>>36770574
>which would be what he wants... probably
How about instead of being the worst son ever you stop being fucking morons and ASK HIM ABOUT HIS SITUATION, for fucks flaming sake its not hard, just go

"Hey dad, I had a thought on your situation and I've some concerns, do you want to talk about them? I had some ideas that might deal with them but I don't know your thoughts on the matter or whether my concerns are actually worth being concerned about. Can we talk about this?"

It's not fucking hard.
>>
>>36770637
>ASK HIM ABOUT HIS SITUATION
Will you fucking calm down and stop shouting? Nobody said anything about doing this to him without his consent until you brought it up.
>>
>>36770632
>He'll probably go for it.
Are you fucking delusional?

Are you suddenly our dad?

Shut the fuck up with that bullshit shadowrunning speculation, its not helping and its fucking creepy and weird to just decide "oh I'll turn my dad into a vamp because I see an issue with his current life".

Even if there is a problem with his situation, figure out what he wants first for fucks sake, and then fight for that instead of just trying to metagame your political motivations upon our fucking father.
>>
>>36770653
Except you all assumed that you would have his consent and just steamrolled straight ahead without even thinking of asking him or talking about this with him.
>>
>>36769402

True. I am wondering if a change of pace could be nice, but at the same time I don't want to return to my earliest days of writing.

...Those were dark times...
>>
>>36770675
>>36770696
I'm gonna have to call you a troll at this point, since I can't believe you're really this aggressively stupid. Go away.
>>
>>36770696
Plans are being made. Nobody "steamrolled ahead" with anything. Nobody did anything at all yet, in fact.
>>
>>36770719
I just caught up with the thread after finishing work and I find that you're making these stupid plans without even thinking about them at all, I'm not trolling anon, you simply can't see the trees before the forest.

Personally I hope when we talk to pops about this he says "nah it ain't no biggie, its dealt with and won't be a problem"
>>
>>36770696
because literally every time anything similar has happened we end up deciding out of character.
We'll notice that pattern by the 8th time.
>>
>>36770764
You're the only one here not thinking. I have no idea where you got the notion that we want to kidnap dad and turn him into a vampire against his will.

Can you please point it out for me and link/quote it?
>>
>>36770753
>Nobody did anything at all yet, in fact.
Indeed, and despite this you all act as if this is set in stone and will happen. I'm pretty sure our dad doesn't share your concerns, especially considering the deal he made which put this issue to bed long ago. Like Sand said, the angel is not going to be on the battlefield or involved in any fighting at all, he's not some random hobo who is going to be shanked in the middle of the night for his booze.
>>
>>36770766

no, we will be presented with a 'which path to put them on' choice and the first thing we do will be to ask them and try to get Sand to chose for us...
>>
>>36770794
the notion comes from how you all suddenly just went "hey guys, great idea lets turn out dad into a vampire" and everyone suddenly agreed upon it without even asking him about it to begin with

with Excel we had cause for succubutting her, and she wanted it in the first place, with Brook's father, we have neither
>>
>>36770808
>I'm pretty sure our dad doesn't share your concerns
How do you know? Did you ask him? Hypocrite.

It's pretty reasonable to think he'd want to cut ties with celestia after they completely obliterated his life and stole his family away. Considering that he's fine with Brooklyn being a demon, he would probably see it as an improvement to his current situation.

>>36770838
This is the same way we've made all the other decisions like this before. First we decide we want it to happen, then Brooklyn or whoever goes up to them and talks to them about it and it happens or not in the quest, depending on what sand thinks makes sense.

Are you new or something? You shouldn't make a fuss if you haven't acquainted yourself with the quest yet. It makes you look silly.
>>
>>36770905
>It's pretty reasonable to think he'd want to cut ties with celestia after they completely obliterated his life and stole his family away.
He kind of did that already...

Or do you not remember those threads?
>>
>>36770923
The most important and dangerous tie still remains.
>>
>>36770905
>Are you new or something? You shouldn't make a fuss if you haven't acquainted yourself with the quest yet. It makes you look silly.
No I'm not, I've been here since the beginning and you thinking I shouldn't post my concerns about your fucktarded plan is assinine and downright insulting. Your words damn yourself more than anything as they make you look like a condescending arrogant cunt who thinks he's the only anon with a voice in the quest and that your opinion is all that matters to the QM.
>>
>>36770838
>with Brook's father, we have neither
Except we do have valid reasons for vamping him.
1. His life is tied to an angel. While it probably isn't an immediate problem, ignoring it is rather dumb.
2. He isn't immortal, so unless we turn him into a demon of some sort he will die of old age. Also not an immediate problem, but a good reason.
3. It will help with the political issue of Vampire/Succubi relations, solidifying Brooklyn's powerbase, and probably saving lives down the road.
You might not like 3, but I've been here from the start, and you can't stop me from trying to play Brooklyn as a kind hearted but ambitious young man.
>>
>>36770961
I'm perfectly fine with you posting your concerns. I just don't see the need to invent problems that don't exist under a reasonable examination and then go on to be super aggressive and combative about it even when it's explained that nobody was thinking of doing what you're against.

You've obviously had a bad day or something. You should go for a walk to cool down.
>>
>>36770961
You seem to be the only one getting mad, maybe there isn't much to be mad about?
>>
>>36770975

I can understand this
>2. He isn't immortal, so unless we turn him into a demon of some sort he will die of old age. Also not an immediate problem, but a good reason.
Did you not read how he will currently life much much longer than your average human, he said this when we revealed to Excel we were a succubus. Aging is not a concern for him at all currently
>3. It will help with the political issue of Vampire/Succubi relations, solidifying Brooklyn's powerbase, and probably saving lives down the road.
>and you can't stop me from trying to play Brooklyn as a kind hearted but ambitious young man.
That is anything but trying to play him as a kind hearted but ambitious man
>>
>>36771024

Funny you should say that as you doing that started this entire thing...
>>
>>36771066
...who am I, according to you?
>>
>>36771045
>That is anything but trying to play him as a kind hearted but ambitious man
How? How have I not played him as such? Especially since I haven't made a single In character suggestion as Brooklyn this entire thread.
>>
>>36771079
Satan.
>>
>>36771105
Okay. I'd try to get 666 in my post number, but it isn't worth it and I'd probably miss by a number or two anyway.

>>tries to be a kind hearted young man
No, he specifically said he wasn't in character as Brooklyn.

>>wants to use father as a political pawn without regard for whether his father even wants to get into politics let alone those particular politics
Dad is already in those politics.
>>
>>36771125
Oh, no I want to ask him IC as Excel. I'm just 100% confident he will accept because of how Sandact has handled these sorts of situations so far.
>>
>>36771165
>No, he specifically said he wasn't in character as Brooklyn.
Even more reason to take issue with it.

>Dad is already in those politics.
Since when has our father been involved in a vampire court?

Since Brooklyn became the leader of the area that has a vampire court.

more wat

nothing you just posted makes any sense at all
>>
>>36771174
It's pretty much a given that he will, from the information base we're going off of here.

That doesn't mean that sand doesn't have a reason for him to not accept already, or create one if he needs it.

I agree that it's likely to work.

>>36771208
He's against celestia and also needs to cut the soul link. Celestia directly opposes demons, thus making them the enemy of his enemy.

His child is a demon, and he has spent time with many other demons amicably. His other child will shortly also become a demon. Thus a broad grouping of demons are his allies.

He's in this pretty deep.
>>
>>36771174
Okay if you're going to do nothing but blatantly metagame instead of playing the character then leave already.
>>
>>36771251
>from the information base we're going off of here.
The information base that excludes exactly what he has said on this very matter in the past, and what his thoughts are currently on it.
>>
>>36771231
What is confusing about it? Whenever we turn someone into a demon, we end up making the decision as to what type of demon by the players voting even though we don't control that character. Note how we ended up doing this with Excel as well as our students. Odds are, we'll do the same with Dad
>>
>>36771296
>Note how we ended up doing this with Excel
1. She wanted it.

2. it is the best possible outcome for her, and this has been realized by her and several other characters in the story.
>>
>>36771231
But he's right.

>>36771253
It makes perfect sense even from an in character point of view. Since this is the only way we've found so far to cut the link with the angel, Brodin, Excel and Brooklyn (who is actually "the character" you're referring to here? it has to be one of those three at any rate) would all go for it for that alone. The political bonus is just a bonus, and it's not unwelcome.

>>36771289
What are his thoughts on it, currently?
>>
>>36771321
>implying dad doesn't want to cut the link with the angel
>implying cutting the link with the angel isn't the best possible outcome for him
>>
>>36771328
>Brodin, Excel and Brooklyn would all go for it for that alone
Not true. Brodin I can see going for it, he deals with fate and such things like a daily job, because it is.

Excel I imagine would be weirded out by it as the whole "oh hey I can suddenly turn everyone into anything I want for my own persoanl gain" game is new to her, and very concerned for her father as she only just got him back.

Brook I can see accepting it on some level, whether he feels good or bad about it is another matter.
>>
>>36771328
>What are his thoughts on it, currently?
We don't fucking know in the slightest, which is why we should fucking ask him, and talk to him about this before even planning as much as you have already.
>>
>>36771477
Excel would probably be swayed if she was told that it would allow her to kill the asshole who kidnapped her father and held him hostage for years.
>>36771495
Are you seriously mad that someone suggested that there was another way to achieve everyone's goals instead of having to argue and samefag about what Excel would turn into?
>>
>>36771477
>Excel I imagine would be weirded out by it as the whole "oh hey I can suddenly turn everyone into anything I want for my own persoanl gain" game is new to her, and very concerned for her father as she only just got him back.
Except that isn't the justification here. Try to keep up.

She would go for it because it would sever the link with the angel.

And before you start spouting that bullshit again, no, that doesn't mean she would do shadowruns and kidnap her father instead of asking.

>Brook I can see accepting it on some level, whether he feels good or bad about it is another matter.
Even though it wouldn't be seen as a perfect solution by any of them, they would all realize that it's better than being connected to the angel.

>before even planning as much as you have already.
There's no harm in planning, anon. Is that your problem here? The behavior of others? Do you just hate that others are having fun?
>>
>>36771540
>>36771495
One missed link here, sorry.
>>
>>36771540
>Do you just hate that others are having fun?
Yes.
>>
>>36771529
>Are you seriously mad
What a dumb question.
>>
>>36771529
>there was another way to achieve everyone's goals instead of having to argue and samefag about what Excel would turn into?
I'm very happy that it turned out this way. Succubus excel and vampire dad is an excellent solution that keeps everyone happy except the guy screaming inane profanities.
>>
>>36771045
How is it any different than when we turned Leona? We did that for superficially good reasons, but the real reason is that we wanted another strong ally. Hopefully I'm not mixing her up with Erika. Erika was the one that was going to be sacrificed, right? We guilt tripped Leona into turning by playing the your sister is lonely card. There was no urgent need to turn her, but we manipulated her into changing to increase our power base. We don't do evil, but we're not above manipulating people into doing things that they're uncomfortable with for the sake of our own plans while justifying it to both them and ourselves.
>>
>>36772180
>Erika was the one that was going to be sacrificed, right?
Yes
>>
>>36772391
Then my point stands. We pressured Leona into turning, which she was uncomfortable with. While it might have been for the better, we still didn't think anything of it. We're rather deep into the ends justifying the means. We become upset over major things and sometimes look for a third option where there are no losses, but we still have few compunctions from manipulating friends, family, and even lovers (as Amanda might be seen).
>>
>>36772841
Yeah, okay, let's assume all of that is correct. Why do you want to break character now?
>>
>>36772841
>people should never have to do something they're uncomfortable with
>>
>>36774012
You know, I've mostly been standing aside for the second half of this thread and this is partially why.
The poster you quote puts forward the idea we were using Leona for our own ends more then helping them.

You ignore their argument and instead assert that it had to be done.

Nothing 'has' be done. We don't 'have' to 'save' Excel, we just want to. Stop acting like you have moral authority, realize you're not magically right, and explain why you are.
>>
>>36773996
>>36774012
I was refuting this:

>>36771045

What I was saying is that we've always been rationalizing decisions to turn people to increase our powerbase by convincing ourselves that it's better for them. This is no different, which is why I'm all for suggesting to dad that he should get vamped. It's in character to do so. We aren't perfect, which is great. We have good intentions most of the time, but we always promote ideas that would make us stronger, even though they may be pushing someone we care about into making a decision that they wouldn't otherwise have made.
>>
>>36774457
>but we always promote ideas that would make us stronger
No we don't, if we did we would have said that sucking the aether from everyone in Old T.O would be a good plan for making us stronger.
>>
>>36774457
>>36774457
Which is something you can suggest. Of course, one of the staples of writing is the overcoming of flaws. So technically, it'd also be in character for someone to suggest why that's a bad idea and to suggest something that might be both more ethically agreeable AND still decent for the character.

The irony here is that you're suggesting building a power-base, while succubi politics is often chaotic and has the strong ruling over others till they mis-step and get beaten due to it.
>>
>>36774130
>this is about morals
