Your name is Melissa Madison and you think you've just lost control of your life. You used to be an average highschool student with a love for bad B-movies and playing Extreme Tetris. Now you're sitting on your living room sofa wondering where it all went wrong.

Thanks to a slight mishap at your dad's bio-research lab a week ago you've got all the powers of a 5'9 beetleborg and the attention span to match. Speed, Strength, Durability, Heightened Reflexes, the works. You even have antenna, though they tend to stay tucked into your head unless you're doing something cool. You've got all the time in the world and nothing to do except get into trouble.

And man are you in trouble.

It's currently 12:00pm on a Friday afternoon and you've just swallowed the soul of an insect demi-god who may or may not have also been your mother.

Surely best dad has a solution for this. If he can distill souls down into juicy stuff, surely he can figure out how to extract mom souls out of our body without killing us in the process, thereby preventing this from going full Evangelion. Right?

I mean, he did it before, all he has to do is do it again without killing us, right?

"No use panicking on an empty stomach, right Mom?"

You roll yourself off of the couch and onto your feet trying to see if your new brain buddy can actually understand you. A little itch here, a little twitch there, somethings definitely in there all right but you guess she's not in the talking mood. Mom never was a easy person to wake up.

"That's okay, well go somewhere good and talk over lunch." Grabbing your keys and sliding on your sneakers you give yourself a once over in the hall mirror before you leave.

Clothes elegantly disheveled?
"Check"
Keys in the pocket with no holes?
"Check"
Funky phone ID thing from work in hand?
"Check"

You're the spitting image of a perfectly normal, non-superpowerd teenage girl, perfect.
Not even bothering to actually lock the door you vault down the front steps and start sprinting down the street.

Now if you're talking feel good food there's only one thing that comes to mind. Curly fries and tiny cakes! And with that though in mind you scramble the few blocks over to the restaurant by your school.

Originally a superhero hangout back in the day Black and Noire's was a pretty spacey fusion restaurant that sold everything from babousa to hyena liver on a stick. The best place if you wanted something new and the worst if you actually wanted to eat in peace.

"Garçon, I am a customer and I demand curly fries!" Your voice fills the empty restaurant when you nearly tear the door off it's hinges trying to get inside.

"Well that's weird, this place is usually packed. Mom, you go get us a table, I'll find a waitress or something."

A stabbing pain to the back left of you hypothalamus giving you the okay, you head to the front counter, making sure to grab a discarded ice cream sunday off a table for you trouble.

Just when you're about to check and see if anyone's in the kitchen a sudden warming sensation in you Corpus Callosum makes you break into a goofy smile. Heh, Mom's hugs are the best.

"Sorry Mom. I almost forgot we were here to catch up."

Scooping up a pair of chocolate cakes and a plate of mapo tofu you sit with your mother in a seat next to the window. "So where do I start? Dad's been pretty alright..."

You spend the next hour talking with mom about how you're life's been going since she's been gone. How dad was made to work at a research lab in the city when the police caught him trying to clone her for the sixth time, how that orphan boy that Nana used to fight with always visits her on weekends now that she can't walk. You know, the simple stuff. You even tell her about your new powers, although she's non too pleased to hear that you've only used them so far to genocide the spawn of her mutant Red-belly Toad collection. Well at least you remember why you never went under that porch.

Finishing off every left out plate in the restaurant at about the same time that the conversation turns to you lack of a love life, you excuse yourself and put a $20 bill on the checkout counter. Technically you didn't order anything, but you figure it's better than nothing, right? The soft hug mom plants on you brain says she agrees.

"Alright Mom, let's get going."

Leaving Noire's by foot Bloom-MART isn't all that far away. With your new enhanced jogging speed and Mom to keep you company you turn the corner onto the last street in what feels like a couple of minutes. Not bad for a five run.

"Oh, look mom. They built a bank where that other convenience store used to be." Pointing out what used to be the charred remains of you competing store you direct your Mothers attention to the new NAES BANK across the street. You'd be tempted to check it out but you're pretty sure you're Bloom-MART ID doubles as some sort of bank card or something.

As you walk through the sliding doors you hearing picks up a slight whirring sound before you're met with a familiar voice. "Welcome to Boom-MART valued customer, can we be of assistance today?

"Customer? It's me Melissa, I work here now. I'm here to clock in, remember?" I-I totally work here, right? I'm with my mom, give me a break.

"Hm? Oh, I'm so sorry Melissa Madison. You're current diagnostics no longer match those within your profiles margin of error. Have you cut you hair or made any other significant changes since we last spoke?"

Changes? Not really. I mean I got all my bug powers before then and the only things I've done since were sleep and meet mo- Ohhh, I get it!

"That's probably my Mom, her names Maya. Say hi Mom." The virtual snapping of my occipital lobe and the following three second of blindness before she fixes it tells me I probably messed up.

"Sorry, sorry. Mom can't actually talk right now, but I'm sure she'd love to say hello."

"I understand. She may be a handful but please do not worry Maya. Your daughter is a valued member of the Bloom-Mart team and you should be proud."

Apparently that was enough to get on mom's good side as she stoops poking me in my brain and just kind of glows warmly.

"Now, Melissa Madison. If you would please place you hands on the scanning pad. I would like to reconfigure your profile to account for you and your mother's combined philology."

"Sure" Stepping over to the front counters scanner you place you had down and just your eyes to read the new stream of text.

"So why am I a "Senior" Associate now? Did I get a promotion?" Yeah right, like that happened. You haven't even started working yet.

"A-ah, yes. That is correct." Did she just stutter? Can checkout scanners stutter? "It seems the previous Senior Custodial Services Associate recently retired suddenly and the other members of the department were incapable of preforming the required duties. As such, you were selected by management to fulfill the position."

"Do I get paid more, it sounds like a lot more work." I don't even know what a Junior Associated does but that doesn't mean I want to work even harder.

"Certainly, Melissa Madison. The Bloom-MART management is prepared to offer you a %50 pay increase with you advancement in position."

Thirteen divided by two, eight and seven..." I get paid $20 an hour?"

"$19.87, but yes." This pay increase will of course accompany the increase of you duties. Building maintenance, staff hygiene and waste disposal will of course remain you usual duties, but you may be asked to participate in certain out of store custodial activities."

"Hm, alright. I can work with that."

Giving a shrug you lift up your shirt, unrolling the Bloom-MART apron you tied around you waist earlier and flattening out the wrinkles.
"So, is there anything I should take care of first?"

"Why, yes. The loading dock in the back of the building has been in disorder for some time. If you managed to clear it for me that would be a great benefit to Bloom-MART's operations."

"On it! Let's go mom, I'll show you the Shiny Gun." Walking behind the counter and detaching you Shiny Gun vacuum thing from the wall you head out the front door and back around the side of the building. What's awaiting you is something you really should have expected in hind sight.

"Oh for the love of, OW!" Apparently mom doesn't appreciate you frustration. But regardless this is pretty messed up.

The loading dock, or rather what used to be the loading dock has been crushed by one of those remote controlled mid-tanks the police use to fight super-villians. By the looks of it some jerk with super strength grabbed the thing by the barrel and tossed it over here. The barrel is a little bent but the rest of it actually looks okay. To bad it's upside down and in a crate of what used to be your loading dock.

"How are we even getting stock like this?"

"I wonder how much one of these things actually weights?"

Pulling yourself up onto the remaining half of the loading platform you slide your way into the small crater made by the mid-tank. A little pushing shows that it really isn't all that much weight when compared to your new powers. The problem is that the tank is too wide to reach around.

"Maybe if I?" Oh, there you go. You manages to wedge you arm into one of the little doors on the tanks side. Now it's just a matter of not smashing into anything as you try to lift the tank out.

>74

It's actually a lot less difficult than it looks. The sides of the crated aren't that steep and the tank's not stuck on anything so dragging it out is a pretty simple job.

"Hey, mom. You think they'd let us take this home? If we hide it we can give it to dad for his birthday." You could have swore you head someone chuckle just now. Has mom already made it to your Temporal Lobe?

Either way you roll the tank over and let it sit right-side up next to the dumpsters. The mid-tank looks a little scudded but mostly fine. You don't have any clue if the same goes for everything inside of it but that's not your problem right now.

Now you have to patch up a crater and you don't really have any powers for that sort of thing, do you?

You scramble back up the side of the loading platform and pick up you Shiny Gun from where you left it. You're all set to try it out, only there's one problem. You don't actually know how to work this thing. You check it over for any thing that looks like a label or a "press on" switch or something.

>63

You don't find anything super helpful but you at least get a general idea of how the Shiny Gun's supposed to be used. The green lines on the gun run from the barrel to the trigger handle thing and they start moving really fast when you push the handle in and slow when you pull it out. So all you should have to do is pull it up and in and it should.

>85

A massive beam of green light shoots out of the Shiny Gun and makes an audible cracking noise against the street, while at the same time slamming you into the doors of the loading bay.

"Ugh, what was that fo-" You can't even get the rest of you complaint out as you notice the ground around the area where green beam hit. It's shiny, not just shiny but like SHINY. Like brand new and scrubbed with as tooth brush shiny.

>1/2
>>
"Vivi la Shiny Gun!" You spend the next ten minutes blasting everything you can find with the shiny green beam. this thing doesn't just make things clean. It actually fixes them. The dent in the bay door from you body? Gone. The broken side of the platform. Like it never happened. The crater? God, that crater. The place where it was just a few minutes ago looks so spotless you can't even imagine there ever having been a hole there.

"This is so awesome. Don't you think so Mom?" She flashed a bit a yellow across your vision as a way of saying "Yes". Oh yeah, apparently while you were messing with the Shiny Gun Mom managed to work her way into whatever part of your brain controls the primary colors. Yellow means 'yes' and 'okay', red mean 'no' and 'stop that you idiot'. You still don't know what blue means but you think she been using it to try stop you falling off the platforms when you're not paying attention.

"I think we're all done for the day Mom, let's clock out."

You head back inside, soldering your Shiny Gun and discussing ways to smuggle a police tank home without either the cops or your dad finding out.
