Book 2 - Chapter 3

After taking to the skies in the Blazing Ember, we traveled to the Jade Archipelago before continuing our journey to the west.

After a ball at the house of a retired pirate lord, a meeting with the governor, an attack on our ship by ninja pirates wanting to kidnap the princess on board, and a fight with a kraken, we are in the middle of the archipelago, helping the survivors of the kraken attack.

Their ship is badly damaged, but it should be possible to tow them into the harbor.

Hi guys. Went to get some bread and cheese sandwiches, sorry it took me a bit to say hi.

Also, I thought this was a funny card for Aura because reasons. Its funnier than mere vigilance. Its like "yeah, I COULD tap her but... nah"

So, did you read overlord? I wish the guys translating the LN would link to the scans if they have them, because the webnovel its SO different

Let's give the guys a tow and any emergency healing they need.

As we are lifted into their ship, the sailors greet us with cheers.

They are clearly impressed by how young we are. Well, it's only natural. You don't even hear about 12yrs old beating krakens, after all.

Okaba lands on the deck by our side, and we do introductions.

The captain is a middle aged man with dark brown hair, an open jacket without a shirt, and a large black and blue hat. He stretches a hand to greet us, and introduces himself as Jan Lee, a merchant capitan for the heavenly empire.

He was heading towards Al'Mohada when his ship was attacked.
Both him and his crew had almost given hope, when we rescued them in such a timely fashion.

"Oh, you are from the western continent, then? we are heading that way!" ~says Lyann with interest
"Ah, please allow me to give you an introduction letter, then, so that you will be properly received by my house" ~of course, he doesn't means right now, but later when his ship is already safe in the harbor~ "Since the goods in the cargo hold are not mine, I can offer you little more"
"We would be grateful if you could let us copy your charts and maps, captain" ~says Eldric

And thus, the Burning Ember starts towing the Golden Bird towards the docks.

Captain Lee extends to us every courtesy on his ship, but of course, after receiving a tight hug by a kraken, his ship is in less than stellar condition.

He is carrying tea, silk and porcelain... which somehow survived intact, thanks to really good packaging. Well, if it is able to endure high sea storms and hurricanes, it's not going to break just because the ship gets shaken a bit.

Making conversation with the captain, it turns out the empire can comfortable export silk because the monsters spawning in every continent are different, thus their drops, of course, are also different.

MC was playing a lich warlock in a MMORPG. On the day the game was closing, he sat on the throne of the dungeon he and his guild made, grabbes the staff of power forged by all 41 guildmates, and prepared to go to bed after the servers went down forever.

When he opened his eyes, tho, everything was still there, but he had been transported inside his character, the NPCs were alive, and the whole dungeon had been transported to a D&D world.

Now he's an archlich lvl 100 in a D&D world, so... OP as fuck. He's exploring the world, trying to see if any other players also made the jump with him. No luck so far

The webnovel, which is publically available, seems VERY different from the Light Novel, which these guys are translating.

http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Overlord

The manga is only on issue 1

http://bato.to/comic/_/comics/overlord-r14048

The anime was meant to come out around these days but I haven't found anything about it yet.

It's pretty fun so far. I am not saying this just because there's a cute succubbus girl as his right hand, which he can't tap because he is all bones and no boner, either, no sir!

I wish the guys translating it made the LN available. The webnovel its so different...

uhmm... maybe if we did some sort of ritual for it. I guess Okaba could look into it or we could if we had time... well, we'll have weeks before reaching the western continent, so it should be alright.

Also, would like suggestions for a better Lyann card, since she turned out so different from what I thought she would be

>>36854832

Also, their pottery is made the good 'ol fashioned way, which is good because otherwise all of the pots would be alike. Instead, earth elementals drop high quality clay which artists can use for their creations.

We have yet to see any elementals. Again, it seems the monsters spawning on every continent are different, somehow.

Well, once the Golden Bird is safe on the docks, we get ready to leave again.

The captain asks us to accept his letter of introduction to his family, so we have somewhere to feel welcomed in once we arrive to the western continent.

"I cannot thank you enough. Please forgive me for this humble token of my thanks." ~says the captain
"No, this is plenty. It should be useful, thankyou" ~says Eldric as he shakes the captain's hand.

Well, once again, the Burning Ember sets out from Al'Mohada towards the west.

The captain's eyes almost bulge out of his sockets when he notices Mako peeking at him through one of the bullseye windows. Of course, by then it is too late for him to say or do anything else.

***A few days later, in the mess hall***

Eldric, Asmund, Lyann and Okaba are sitting together, looking at the charts the captain Lee copied for us.

According to these, we should be about to pass by the last of the Jade islands. After this, it will be nothing but open seas all the way to the western shores.

2/?
>>
>>36855027

"Should we ask the captain to drop anchor so we can explore the island a bit? the rumours in Al'Mohada were that the locals do trade in pearls and coral" ~says Okaba

"Asmund, I've been meaning to ask you. What kind of vampire are you? isn't the sun supposed to harm you or something? CAN you go to the beach?"
"The noble kind. It takes away my powers, so don't dragonforce me. And sure, but I don't like saltwater. Why, were you expecting me to glow or something silly like that?"
"Oh, so the reason vampires dodge the sun is because you are like a normal person under it?"
"Well, some are actually hurt rather than weakened."
"Got it"

"Uhmm.. what is the locals swimming fashion? loincloth?" ~asks the winged prince
"Ah, I'm going to stick to my swimming trunks. Asmund, are you sure you don't want to come with us? I could make you some swimming pants"

remember the coalition was originally a colony of the western empire, so we inherited their magic system.

>>36855204

Well, Asmund is still wearing a pair of swimming trunks, but it's more about how his normal clothes are much too warm for a tropical island than anything else.

Okaba is wearing some long purple trunks, and has his wings spread backwards to keep catching the breeze. I guess it must be similar to how elephants use their ears to keep themselves cool. He seems pretty comfortable, actually.

Well, his home is the NOTAfrica region of this world, right? so it must be pretty hot, too.

Alard is wearing a large white shirt and black swimming trunks, plus a large white straw hat. Our cousin seems to be weak against the heat.

Well, Eopolis is quite far north. Even its summers are only "fresh" instead of actually "hot" so this must be a completely new experience for us.

Albion is quite far inland, so the difference between summer and winter is quite severe. We get a lot of snow on winter, and you could fry an egg over a garden stone, on summer.

Mako is wearing a cutesy one piece with a tiny "skirt" that is really part of the swimsuit, and a wide wing strawhat. Ami is holding a large parasol while Mai is sitting on top of said parasol, keeping watch.

Both twins are wearing the same small red bikinis, with sandals.

Somehow, it feels like they're the type that should also wear shades. Are there shades in this world? we haven't seen any, yet.

Stella, Zoe and Dawn are wearing sports-like bikinis. They look like competition wear because rather than something showy, we wanted our little big sisters to have something that was both comfy and hard to remove. Stella loaned her spare to Dawn.

Aura is... is that a... let's call it a microkini. Where did she get the idea for that, anyway? Well, she seems quite fresh, and its using her wings the same way as Okaba.

Lyann is wearing a white slingshot swimsuit with sandals and a sarong around her hips.

Honoria is wearing a sporty bikini. She looks like a tall child, but let's never tell her that.

Honestly, our group looks more like a bunch of rich kids in a resort than a group of adventurers exploring an unknown island.

I guess level has its advantages in that sense. Even if something was to attack us, chances are very low that it would be an actual threat.

"Are we going inland?" ~asks Lyann while walking next to us.

She's not grabbing our hand because if she did that, a small war would break out as Stella and Zoe argue about the other.

"No, there's no need. Any natives should be able to see the Ember, so let's just enjoy the beach and wait for them to come to us"
"Yay, beach!" ~Stella and Zoe run off the last dozen feet from the boat to the sand, then quickly run back to the water as the hot sand burns their feet.~ "hot hot!"
"Just play on the shore, girls" ~says Lyann as she too comes down from the boat and wades her way to the beach.
"Ah, princess, please let me carry you..." ~Ami jumps into the water and offers her arm to Mako
"No... Eldria taught me how to swim" ~she says as she gently descends from the boat. The water reaches as far as her shoulders, which is to say, it is not very deep at all.

Well, its good that she can stand if she needs to.

She starts swimming (somewhat clumsily, to be honest) towards the shore. Mai hops down from the parasol to flank Mako, ready to help her if needed.

Ah, a true tropical island surrounded by clear blue water. A beach full of friends and beautiful girls.

This really feels vacation-like. Maybe we could build ourselves a summer house, or at least a bungalow? once we get used to the palm trees, we can come and go whenever we want, right?

Alright, then lets try to avoid playing too long in the sun. Well, Stella, Okaba and both Succubi have dark skin tones, so they would probably be alright, I guess?

Also, sad. No sunscreen oil rubbing scene.

>>36855512
where do you live? have you never been sunburnt?

****

After a few minutes, Stella comes out from the forest, carrying enough wood to grill her shark under one arm, and a tiny native on the other.

Its a boy... right? it's either a flat-chested loli, or a pretty-faced boy. Kind of hard to tell. Either way, it's a caramel-skinned elf youngster. Probably one of the nomads we were looking for.

"Stella, what are you doing?"
"I figured you always get new people when you go somewhere, so I thought what I would do was I could keep this cute child?"
"Put it down, you don't know where it's been" ~says Asmund, obviously joking

Stella does lets it down, tho, and the child runs off into the jungle again.

"Stella, you can't just pick up children because they're cute..." ~wait, does saying this makes us into a cynical person?

No. Wait.... we had better reasons when WE did it, right?

Right

"Just... go cook your fish"
"Alright" ~she says looking back at the jungle with a little pout.

Uh, she actually liked the child, didn't she?

"So, how long until the natives show up to talk about that little kidnapping incident?" ~says Okaba
"Eh, ask me if I care" ~says Asmund

Well, its true that the chances that they can do anything to any of us are... very low, but we shouldn't just do whatever we want because of it.

>>
Well, sure enough, a group of natives show up after a bit.

It is a small group of elven nomads. They are wearing light clothings made of foliage, and while they seemed pretty grim at first, once they confirm that there's only children and youngsters on the scene, they obviously relax.

Well, after a short chat with her, it is rather obvious that Stella just wanted to play, so they calm down entirely.

The tribe has no special name. They inhabit these islands, but do not claim ownership of them. They do have a small farm here and there, or rather, it would be better to say that they have several plantations spread across all the islands, where they grow seasonal fruits.

Since it is summer, they are living on this, the westernmost of the islands.

Once we explain that we want to trade, they finally relax completely, and send one of them to tell the rest of what is going on.

After a bit, the entire tribe shows up on the beach.

Stella is confused. It is good to have more people to play with, but they want to eat her shark.

Well, she doesn't minds sharing. She's a good girl.

She ends up with lots of cute seashell jewelry as payment for the shark's meat, tho, so she's happy anyway.

Their chief is... should we call it naive, or greedy? in exchange for the pearls, he starts asking for the parasol Ami is carrying around, and ends asking for the Burning Ember.

Let's ask if they have sunscreen. Also, fun fact, there are species of coral that actually secrete shit that's equivalent to SPF 50 as a mucous at low tide. They look like oblong bowls and live near the beach surf.

All you have to do is take it out of the water for a few minutes until the drips get gooey. You don't even really harm it by doing this, just get enough for your needs, then put it back in the water. Nature is awesome like that.
>>
>>36855869

>>
>>36855943

>>
>>36855937
Ah, now I remember, it's called "Mushroom Coral", you find them near tropical islands like this. We can still have our lotion scene if Eldric starts looking for one!
>>
>>36855869

See if we have some tiols we can trade them, or canvas or anything else. We can share the beers as part of the party.

Gold is useless until they know of trade. So showing some tools would be nice.

Even some metal tools, like fishhooks.
>>
>>36855869
This is still the best elf in swimsuit pic i've seen

***
Well, everything ends well enough. We pay them for the pearls with tools and clothes, and give the chief a few cold beers as compensation for the trouble our big little sister caused them.

Talking with them, they suggest we use the "coral juice" to protect our skin from the sun, and even show us which coral to use.

Thus, we call Lyann over and have the double fun of watching her full body blush, and rubbing oil all over her.

Ah, we also rub it on Zoe, but, she squirms and giggles through the whole thing, so it's not as sensual as it is just fun, you know?

Well, it all ends in a party beach, and Mako seems quite happy to play with the elven children. They gave her lots of flower collars.

They will remain on the island for the whole summer, so we should be able to see them again on our way back, hopefully.

The sun sets over a nice beach party, with the girls dancing while the nomads teach Stella how to BBQ a wild boar they caught with her help.

That girl is too easy to bribe with food, you know?

Once the party is over, we go back to the ship when the elves start getting lewd with eachother on the beach.

Well, they're a simple people, but we are too young to participate in a beach orgy, and we are certainly not letting any of the girls participate either.

Thankfully, Mako was already asleep when the action started, so the last thing she remembers before waking up in her cabin is running around the beach with the elf children.

The next morning, we say goodbye to the chief, and resume our trip. Uhmm... maybe we should have included a pool on the deck...

>>
>>36856142
>We pay them for the pearls with tools and clothes, and give the chief a few cold beers as compensation for the trouble our big little sister caused them.

Somehow I see them a lot happier long term with steel tools then gold or silver. I just see them not caring bout the money, but tools have a lot of worth for the tribes survival and is valued trade to other island tribes.

Besides, it is lot like iron, copper or other metals are common in islands like these. A steel axe head might be worth more to them then a pile of gold coin.
>>
>>36856332
But with a pile of gold they can buy a pile of steel tools when they swing by the islands closer to the port city.
All you have to do is tell them.

Well, the next day, we are already en route, talking with Honoria on the deck, when Stella runs by after Zoe.

"Girls, don't play on the deck! what if one of you falls down!?"
"But we have the rings?" ~they both point to their featherfall rings
"That won't let us know, right? what if we don't notice until dinner time? if you want to play, go play in your rooms"
"Alright"

"How can you admonish such cute children" ~says Honoria
"Its true, tho. If they happened to fall off, it would be horrible"
"Fair enough"

The dwarven princess is somewhat dissapointed. We got a small basket worth of pearls, but it seems it took many years for the nomads to gather this many, so it doesn't seems like they could become a regular source.

"Still, these are really beautiful" ~she says while holding one up.

Of course, to a dwarf, such things like pearls would be both precious and much rarer than a gemstone, I suppose

After a bit, we go back to our cabin, to find Stella and Zoe playing with a large laundry bucket. They are sitting inside, in their swimsuits,

"What are you...?"
"We are playing beach!"
"Of course you are"

Well, they're cute, so its fine.

With a sign, we drop on the bed, and turn our head around to watch them play. Yeah, they're really cute, there's nothing wrong with it...

,,it's such a nice, sunny yet breezy day...

...we fall asleep.

"Lyann?" ~Zoe went to look for Lyann in her room.

The redhead is reading through Okaba's first book/journal on enchanting, and working hard at making her own everglowing candle.

She actually works quite hard to keep up with brother Eldric, without letting him know, doesn't she?

"What is it?" ~ash, sis is really nice. She looks like she could give us scritches... let's see...

Zoe goes over and enjoys as Lyann starts gently scratching behind her ears. The liongirl starts purring while swaying her tailtip back and forth.

"What is it? did you just want me to scratch your ears?"
"Ah, do you want to play beach with us?"
"Playing beach?"
"Yup! we got water, and swimsuits, and are playing in brother's room!"
"...you are not soaking up his bed or something, right?"
"Nope. Brother is napping, too"
"Uuuh... I better go see what you are doing..."

When we make it back, Stella is playing with a wooden-carven dolphin in the middle of the large laundry basin. Well, she's in her swimsuit.

Guess the girls really liked the beach.

Eldric looks like he's having a nice nap.

"Listen, you should do this kind of thing in your own room"
"But we like playing with Eldric, more!"
"Well, he's taking a nap, so don't bother him. Go play to your room"
"Aaaaw"

One would think it would be a hassle to move the large washing bucket, but it is not so with the common sense of this world. Stella stores the whole bucket into her item box, and both she and Zoe leave the room to go play on their own.

Well, the rings are given to passengers, so probably add to those same rings the tracking function and link it to a tool that is in the hands of the company. that way if a passanger does fall... oh, and add some sort of floating/waterbreathing to the ring as well.
That should cover all the bases for a passenger that falls off the ship into the ocean. their ring can be tracked to find them and they won't drown

[Why swimming trunks?] ~Lyann wonders to herself as she reaches under his pillow and pulls out his pajamas.

"Eldric, I'm going to change you, alright?"
"..." ~sleeping

She starts by sleeping the silk shirt up his arms, then rolling over so she can button it over his chest.

"Idiot Eldric. Why did you had to grow so big?" ~sigh

Once his shirt is in place, she looks at his short pants.

"..." ~she blushes a little bit
"....." ~she turns around and coughs a little to see if he wakes up
"........" ~she smirks with a lewd smile she has never shown to anyone
[Well, it's just dressing him up for bed. Yup, just changing him for bed]

She grabs his trunks and pulls them down.

"...."
"Oh, that's quite impressive" ~says Mai, who had been hiding in a corner of the room, holding a bag with peanuts for a while now.~ "He's really grown up nicely all over, uh?"

Lyann freezes, not knowing what to do. She's literally been caught red handed.

"H-how..."
"I was here before you. Lady Mako wants me to let her know when the young lord wakes up, to play together. So, don't mind me. I'm just a shadow on the wall, and all that"

Lyann is red in a way that makes her fire-red hair look pale, right now.

"Get out o-..." ~when she turns towards Mai, she can't find her.

[She's gone, right?]

The girl tries her best to not look directly, turning her head to a side or the other, trying to just look at his feet as she slips the pants into place.

Then his ankles, his knees, his thighs...

*BLUSH*

"Problem?" ~Asks Mai
"..."
"Want me to help you push it out of the way?"
"No thankyou I can do it" ~she says firmly

The conversation wakes up Eldric. He looks down at Lyann. Their eyes meet.

She's dressed with a soft shirt, its neck hanging low enough to give him a great clavage shot in that position.

Little Eldric wakes up.

"Nooooo!"

Lyann punches him unconscious, and runs away.

Well, a few days later, the Ember finally arrives at the shores of the western lands. It is the shore, indeed, but not the city. Seems we missed it by a few miles.

Well, looking at the shore, the plants seem to be of the tropical kind. It cannot be anywhere else... but...

We need a disguise, a really, really good disguise. Come in at sea level as well, their intelligence agency may have gotten a report that Mako is on a flying ship, so coming in from the sky will get them scrutinizing our whole crew.

nope, you asked me when was the last time i changed the pdf. (unless i misread it, which is entirely possible)
Last time I looked at the PDF?
Never
I dont use the PDF at all. I use open office because it lets me change the colors. I cant read the pdf.
Last time I checked the odt file which i EXPORT AS A PDF? every single thread. Im always checking it for stuff, especially during combat. Check this screenshot

As you can see, the colors are reversed. I never, ever open the pdf. I cant read it. Its not really what you were going for. You were just being annoying and trying to nitpick, but I can nitpick too.

"Last time you saw the pdf"?
Never

Last time you EDITED the pdf?
Couple of weeks ago. Sometimes I make minor changes or fix some typo, but until something MAJOR is changed, I dont save/export it as PDF.

SO yeah, your argument about me glossing the fight with the kraken? not valid. I didint gloss it over. Eldric is just too strong

About me not reading the pdf? I really thought you asked about me editing it, to which I answered "couple of weeks ago"

If you really want to nitpick. I NEVER open the pdf because my eyes cant handle it.

Anyway, I knew what I was doing. I was choosing comedy over accuracy because of two reasons:
1) it was funny
2) cutscenes where a character gets 1shot by someone who has no right business doing so are common on old RPGs, and this quest is all about making fun of that, remember?

Its beyond a lost argument, its a nonexistent one.

I have a serious sight condition. I can't see when the screen is white with black font on it.
The PDF has white background with black font, so I cant read it.
It's not nitpicking, it's being literal. "I can't SEE the pdf" its not me saying "ugh, I really dislike the pdf format". It is me saying "I can't SEE the pdf". Literally

I'm not nitpicking the format, I'm saying I literally can't see it.

As for the other jobs. I have them all on an extra file which I haven't integreated into the pdf because its a lot of work my eyes can't take.

Anyway, you just proved yourself stupid, or that you are going "lol joke's on them, I was just pretending to be retarded", so I'm going to ignore you now.

The following evening, we are all admiring kitty Mako.

"It's amazing" ~says Honoria~ "They are actually moving"
"Made them functional. Have the extra ability of allowing her to understad the language of animals" ~says Okaba

Mako is blushing brightly, more than a bit nervous to be the center of everyone's attention.

"I looove it!" ~says Zoe as she crawls over and gets on her knees to rub her face against Mako's

"Well, if the actual cat of the group likes it, I think it works" ~says Lyann
"Alright, let's go back down into the sea and approach the city, then" ~says Okaba

A few hours later, the imperial capital, Amarilla, comes into view.

It is a vast and ancient city. It is not as large as Eopolis, but it isin't conveniently placed in the mouth of all trade routes going into the continent. It is simply the capital by imperial decree.

Ancient beyond measure, the city shines from afar with white and golden roofs.

[Are those pagoda-like roofs? as expected from our notchina] ~thinks Eldric

Mako stands on her tiptoes as she looks at the city from the upper deck. She is obviously happy to be home, and so close to seeing her sister again.

The dock authorities are interested on the ship, but after a short conversation, it seems they are just as curious as they would be with any new ship.

They inform us that they will inspect the cargo in case of contraband, and then stamp the documents to let us unload. In the meanwhile, the crew and passengers can come down to land as long as they are fine going through customs.

The docks are massive. Several miles wide, protected by thick walls of rock with bright banners on them to prevent collisions with the ships.

There are so many ships, it is impossible to do a quick eye count. Most of them are in the local style. Massive ships with wide decks and up to seven masts. They are like floating castles, and while they may be just as strong in battle, you have to wonder how well would they handle during a storm.

"Alright, I will go with Brass and look for a good inn, then come back, alright?"
"Sure" ~says Asmund, and Okaba noda
"Wait, I am going too" ~says Honoria

1/?

>>36859769
oh thats a good idea
>>
>>36859865

Well, it looks like the dock officers take their job very seriously, but we can't really fault them for it.

We are asked a few questions... apparently we can't travel without a responsible adult. Well, of course.
It is only obvious. We got so used to everyone treating us like grownups that we didin't consider it.
Fortunately, we have Brass with us, so we sign him up as the one in charge, and are allowed into the country.

Next problem is with Honoria.

Dwarves are unknown in the continent, it seems. There are tales and legends, but no dwarf had ever gone through customs in the 20+ years the clerk has been working there.

Well, Honoria is eventually let through, as well. After all, she may be a curiosity, but what are they going to do about it? it is a wide world, of course there are peoples one may never meet.

And thus, we finally exit the docks and enter the streets of Amarilla.

2/?

>>
>>36859985
Wouldn't Honoria's Rune Knight Honor Guard have also caused a fuss?

"Meh, they're all alike" (now you can call me a racist)
"Once you've seen one, you've seen them all"
She was the 1st dwarf they ever saw. The 2nd to 6th aren't as especial

>>36859985
(in the following phrase, should I use "is" or "its"?)

Well, as its(?) to be expected, right outside the docks, we enter the commercial and indistrial district.

The streets are paved with smooth rocks nicely stacked together, albeit Honoria doesn't seems impressed. Of course, it is no dwarven craftsmanship, after all.

Well, it is just the industrial district, so as long as the roads are strong enough to take the weight of heavily loaded wagons, it should be alright.

The buildings as far as we can tell are all factories for traditional goods such as clothes, bells, weapons, tools, and the like. These are not stores, and they do not sell to the general public.

There are hundreds of people per block, carrying goods, peddling goods, or simply going about their business.

The carriages look much lighter than the ones we are used to, and are being pulled by a single large horse-like lizard.

[Is that a dinosaur? I forgot the name, tho] ~Eldric stares as one of the carriages passes by

"Well, at least the language is not that different. It feels like listening to nobles talk" ~says Brass
"Ah, I guess it would be old fashioned? can't really say if it is better or worse. It's just different"

(you know, british vs american english. European vs latinamerican spanish, etc)

We hire a carriage and ask the driver to take us to a good inn.

The carriage has better stability than those back home, or the floor is much smoother.

3/?
>>
>>36860264
Regardless, all those dwarves with weapons and armor trying to get through customs would pose a problem if we can't wave it off as diplomatic privilege.

And royalty or not, Honoria and her guards are the only dwarves to come here in 20 years.
Hard to keep a low profile when we stick out like that.
>>
>>36860345
Use "is".
>>
>>36860378
its a different king of low profile
>exotic race rarely seen and believed to be legend
vs
>royalty visiting

The former gets us gawkers who come to look at the oddity. The latter gets us nobles and diplomats scrutinizing us. Also, if we do end up doing something illegal. "some rare race from across the sea did it" is better than "the prince/ss of country X did it"
>>
>>36860345
"Is" is what's normally used, so I'd go with that.
>>
>>36860445
When is it a good time to use its?

>>36860345

[I sort of want to comment on how spacious these carriages are to fit 2 human sized persons and 6 dwarves, but... better not]

Honoria's guards are sitting on the seats and the floor and the descending stairs, after all.

Well, the coachman charges us 2 full gold pieces, but... we really damaged his carriage, so let's just pay quietly.

Of course, we also draw quite a bit of attention as we walk about, and when we enter the inn.

Honestly, dwarves are a classical fantasy race, shouldn't Okaba be more of an oddity? well, I guess that's just how it is.

The inn is... well, it's not poor... as a whole. we learn that it has 3 floors and uses the entire block. It's more like a keep. The door we came in through leads to the poorer side, where people simply sleep on blankets in the floor.

Even so, two guards are provided around the clock as well as a locker service, so people needs not fear for their private property while sleeping.

Well, guards or not, there's no way we are sleeping in a room with 60 other people.

The innkeeper is an aged man from the cat beast tribe with long eyebrows and pink eyes. He's sporting a long pair of whispers braided down in a very not-chinese style.

The gamer in us really wants to chuckle about how clichéd everything is, but we know better than to do so.

The old man is obviously interested in Honoria and her guards, but explaining to him that we come from a far away land, and flashing some gold, its enough to about more questions.

He does ask us to pay him in advance so he can take and appraise the coins, tho.

It will be 1 gold coin per night, for our entire group.

Well, we actually have a rather large group, so that's not unreasonable. Probably

4/?
>>
>>36860656

Yes, we told him we have 6 more people. He's charing a gold per night for everyone, including meals.

It seems reasonable, since we are taking the entire inner area of the inn. That's where the best rooms are, and there's even a garden with a fountain... it feels really nice. It's like we were out own little town. Very private

Wish we knew protocol so we could get an audience with the empress in waiting.

Mako was such a wall flower she would not be much help. I think Ami and Mai mostly know about protecting her.

I have no doubt as soon as they id Mako the fecal matter will hit the occilating metal fan.

We may have to use that letter to go forward.

"Ah yes, you are new to the city, yes? I will get you a guide"
"Ah..." ~everyone looks at everyone~ "..sure, thank you"
"Please have it ready as of tomorrow. We just crossed the sea, so we will just be resting today after the rest of our group arrives." ~says eldric
"Can you call us a few carriages? we need to go get everyone, and I sincerely doubt we would all fit in one of the normal ones at the dock"
"Yes, of course"

The rooms are nice and wide, but have very good furniture. Uhmm... somehow, we were expecting something more japanese like, with almost empty rooms, but we are not complaining.

We even have our own hot spring bath, which we would normally have to share with unknown people. But since we rented the whole centermost area of the inn, it will be reserved for our group alone.

That's nice and convenient. We'll need to set times for boys and girls, but otherwise, its amazing.

We also have our own kitchen staff... yes, 1 gold coin a day for 14 people in such luxury seems more than reasonable.

"Princess, would you like to wait for us? there's no need for all of us to go back and forth just to fetch the others from the ship" ~says Okaba

Honoria's guards seem to agree, so she decides to stay in the inn waiting for our return.

The inkeeper got us 3 carriages, which should be more than enough. Incidentally, coins here are larger and have a hole in the middle to pass a cord through them, and people normally carry them in a cord instead of a money bag when they have no item box and a need to carry money.

The innkeeper says it will be 20 silver coins for all three carriages.. that other coachman overcharged us so hard.

Nice to know taxi drivers are the same, no matter the world.

Well, it looks like Zoe also draws quite a bit of attention, albeit its hard to say why. Brass and Stella seem fine, and the innkeeper is from the cat tribe. Mako also was fine.

Lyann sits Mako in her legs when they climb the carriage.

"There's room..." ~says Mako softly
"Yes, but this is fine" ~says Lyann
"Uh, but..."
"Say nya" ~says Lyann with a smile
"B-but..."
"Nya~" ~Lyann's smile grows
"N-nya..." ~says Mako softly
"So.Cute" ~Lyann squeezes the little princess

"Hey, hey, what about me, nya?" ~says Zoe
"Yes, you are very cute, too" ~Lyann pats pats Zoe's head and scratches her gently behind the ears
"Lyann, don't do that or she'll pick that up in her speech" ~we tell her
"Aww... fine"

"Eldric, Eldric, I want scritches, nya~" ~she says as she sits next to us
"See what you did?"
"You don't have to actually give her what she wants, tho"

On the other carriage, Aura and Dawn have to hold down Stella before our puppy big/little sister jumps off to try and switch carriages.

they eventually bribe her with food and head pats.

These two... you are a lion and a wolf, you know?!

Eventually, it hits us.

Soldier patrols walk the streets regularly. Its not so often as to say it is oppressive, but you can see a soldier group every dozen blocks or so.

Each time, there is a lion-tribe officer at the front.

"Huh... I don't see any liongolks just walking the streets. They are a lot more common on this side of the ocean, but it seems they are all military"
"The liontribe has always been known as martial, even in Hêven" ~says Okaba
"So, she looks like she's an officer in the military, then? that could be useful" ~says Lyann
"I'm useful, nya?" ~says our adorable lion sister as she purrs and nuzzles against our hand
"Ah... yes, probably"

Well, getting Zoe to act like a tough career officer will be... challenging.

Once we are all at the inn, the girls run around the patio to call which room they want.

"Will the young lords need me to post guards?" ~asks the inkeeper.

Well, it looks like it is a standard service, but since Honoria has her own guards, and we have Zoe, he is asking us just in case

I was tempted to go extra funny and write a hot spring event with Asmund or Okaba, but I guess I will stick to lew/funny, instead

***

It is decided to share the bath between the boys and the girls, with the girls having access to it during the whole night, and the guys during the whole day. Simple and obvious.

Still, it really is nice to have a whole hotspring for oneself, huh?

Its like a warm pool, with decorations, a huge floor to use as a changing room, and high walls to keep our privacy.

We are relaxing after Okaba, Asmund and the male dwarf guards left. Soaking and enjoying the warmth, when it hits us.

This is the typical hotsprings event, right? I mean, this is an RPG world, so, no matter how you look at it, there has to be a hotspring event incoming.

We hide in the water with just our nose and upwards above water, and wait.

I mean, sure, we set a schedule, but... hotspring event!

It has to happen!

It's really hot here

...

We wake up looking at the roof of our room, dressed loosely in a white robe while Lyann fans us with a red and white fan.

"Eldric, are you awake now?" ~she sounds so worried
"Huh... yes?" ~we groan softly
"Are you feeling alright?"
"Ah... I think so... you look pretty" ~she is wearing a long, white silk robe. Should we call it a kimono... no, it's a robe, right? it fits her so nicely. It's almost like it was painted on... "ah, Lyann has such a nice body"
"Eldric, you fainted in the bath! thanks goodness you were wearing the lady's amulet, or you would have drowned, but you almost got cooked, you idiot!"

>Well, getting Zoe to act like a tough career officer will be... challenging.

Kinda have to give up on that. Zoe is way smarter, wiser, tougher and stronger then those officers likely.

But her personality has been shaped by our family and the fact she only has like 2 or 3 years of life experience.

She is a lovable genki lion, who treats everything like a fun game and has zero little discipline.

Stella is the same way.

"Is that so? sorry" ~ah, we are the staypuff man. Our body is all mushy and full of cotton
"Here, have some cool water" ~she hands us a glass, or tries to, but we can't move
"Arms of lead, can't lift.. ah... wait a little"
"No, hold on" ~she shifts her posture and kneels by our side. Her robe opens a little bit around her legs, but she does't seems to care right now

She gently leans over to lift Eldric. Well, if she was a normal girl there's no way she would be able to do it, but Lyann is ridiculously strong, so it's fine.

"Ah, Lyann's skin looks so smooth"
"You are talking really weird. I think the heat really got you"

She lifts him and takes the glass to his lips, then helps him drink a little bit.

*cough gah*

Looks like Eldric is lightly done by the heat.

*sigh* "Hold on"

She drinks a mouthful of water and leans in to kiss him, forcing his lips open with her soft warm tongue and giving him the water mouth-tp-mouth.

Likely, I think they physically matured to the body of a 15 year old, but we ended up locking in there personality of prepuberty genki tomboys, until they would naturally age past it, when they are like 10-12 years old.

Even then it would be kinda weird for them to be haremettes simply because by then we would be almost 18-20, married and they would be physically smoking hot 15, but still mentally just hitting puberty. Not to mention we would have almost a decade of them acting like our sisters who just want to be spoiled.

So any boy friends for them have to pass the Lightbringer family boyfriend test. The same for our baby sisters.

>hour drive
I remember once being on a public bus, in the capital, and asking a little kid in school uniform if he was alright. Why wasnt he at school (it was like 11 am)
He said he was going to school now
As it turns out, the kid got up at 9, then rides the bus 4 hours to arrive at 13:00 at school because he had to cross the whole of santiago

Holy fuck, who the hell sents his kid on a 4 hours long bus ride. Not even a single ride. The kid had to switch bus lines 3 times to get to the school

After that I never again complained over driving or walking

That being said, 1 hour drive sounds awful. Is there a highway? can you take a panoramic route? have you explored alternative routes? back when i was able to, i liked to explore side streets.

>>36863433

45 minute drive into work, 40 miles, cross city through traffic. Hour drive home the same way.

Luckily car pool, so i do decent for speed. Also this is a South West US city(not cali), so the street layout is fine and we actually get maintance.

Just means most of the thread I am at work for, and then drive home another portion of it to catch the last bit when I can actually participate.

Not that being at work really stops me too much. Having a modern phone with working browsers is so much easier then an older motorola that they never updated past android 2.2.1

[Ah... how can such a tough girl be so pretty and soft... ]

Our half muddled mind manages to get our arms to move, and we hug her weakly as she gives us water.

"E-ah?" ~she freezes

Well, she could punch us through the floor if she wanted, not to mention how easily she could push us away.

Kissing her lips softly, we hold to her with cotton arms.

"We can't..." ~she starts saying, but doesn't pulls away
"We can't? really?"
"N-no... I mean..."
"Really?"
"A-alright..."

Ah, these are some kissable lips. Well, she has to hold us up, or we would fall, but for our first real kiss in this world, this one definitively ranks around an 8 or 10.

After a few minutes, she pulls back...

"Lyann? are you angry?"
"No... I... just... you need more water"
"Help me drink it"
"...alright"

She sips some more water, and leans in for another kiss.

As far as kisses go, this one isin't over until she helps us drink the whole jar.

She eventually lets us down on the pillow, and gives us a gentle smooch.

"See you tomorrow" ~she says, blushing softly
"Until tomorrow"

Huh... it's actually clearing up outside, it seems? how long were we kissing? was it really all night?

Well, once we fall asleep, we don't get up until noon.

Since we almost got cooked, noone bothers us, and we enjoy a nice rest until it is near lunch time.

*knock knock* "Dp you need help getting up? Can I come in?" ~Lyann is at the door

"Then, I am coming in"
"Please do"

She's dressed as normal, looks normal, nothing has changed.

"Are you feeling better?" ~she is keeping a bit of distance, tho
"Yes, thanks to you. How long was I on the hot springs?"
"We don't know. But a employee found you when he went in to clean the bath, so at least 3 hours"
"That's ... a lot"
"Did you slip and hit your head? are you alright?" ~she's more worried than embarrased, so she walks over to check on us, hands in front of her
"I'm alright, really. I was just being dumb and stayed too long in the bath, that's all"
"...alright"

She stops just a couple of feet away.

Looking at her lips makes us blush. Why the hell... we're basically 41, mentally, right? right!? right!

"Uhmm..." ~both of them look like they want to talk, but then let the other talk first

Ah, now this is a nice cliché scene. Well, let's do something about it, so we don't become a dense-type MC

"Lyann, about lastnight..."
"Y-yes!?"
"It was nice"
"!¿...¡?" ~she looks cute when she blushes like that
"And, uhmm... you are probably one of the most important persons in the world, to me. You are not mad with me, are you?"
"N-no..."
"Really?"
"Yes, really"

*smooch*

It's just a soft little kiss.

It's actually much more chaste than the ones we already had.

It feels as if that kiss was a "Thankyou for being with me" from both people.

Well, we kiss again, and then go to the dining room together.

"Ah, our half boiled hero returns" ~says Honoria when we go in
"Are you alright, Eldric?" ~asks Asmund as we go in
"Yes, quite." ~we smile
"Well, we were talking about what to do. We have had the tourist guide waiting all morning, but he's still getting paid, so he's not complaining."

Well, it would be unwieldy to go with 14 people up and down the eternal city, tho maybe if we had a bus...

Heh, we truly are a full delegation of tourists, huh?

Well, for now, we will go in two groups, so we ask the tourist guide to get a colleague, in order to make ourselves less obvious.

So, we end going around town with Mako, Ami, Mai, Lyann, Asmund and Dawn.

The temple of a thousand gods is a very wide, open shrine with hundreds of gods for the many gods of the local pantheon. It is a structure of black roofs and red pillars, with a golden, massive bell.

The training grounds for the lionmen is a vast patio of stone outside of their barracks, where hundreds of young liontribe beastmen drill and practice all day, wearing off the floor after millions of repetitions through the millenia.

"These are meant to be the imperial palace's troops, as a matter of fact" ~informs us our guide

[Oh, so these would be Mako's troops. And her sister's. Since the previous imperial family was almost completely wiped out, I wonder if there were some traitors among their officers? or was it poison? we know too little of how they died]

Then comes several temples and castles. They are all beautiful, but it doesn't feels as if the castles would be really strong in a modern battle.

Then again, this world doesn't has firearms and cannons, so it may be alright. And our rockit ships will redefine castle siege soon enough, anyway.

Finally, we are taken to the imperial palace. Well, to the bits open to the public, anyway.

It is obviously an administrative building, not meant to be used as a fortress. The hallways between buildings are roofed, to keep documents safe even durong the seasonal monsoons, and the buildings are solid but open.

The innermost regions of the palace are closed, and guarded by the imperial lionmen troops.

As we are looking around, we are moved out of the way for a government officer to pass through.

It is an elderly gentleman...

<Huun Go>
<Arcbishop 35/Slave 107>

From what our guide tells us after the priests pass, the priesthood are all children bought and raised by the temples. Children are not allowed to be private or public slaves in the empire. Children are raised by the temple, and then given the option to remain as priests in the temple, or go out into the world and look for employment.

"Well, that's not bad. Better than back home, I guess?" ~says Honoria

Any suggestions to change/improve things? I wonder if you guys will end up suggesting a surgical strike to kill the minister of the left, kidnap Ren, or sneak Mako in to talk with her sister.
