Buying four health potions -80 Cor and the Dwarven Axe -530 Cor.
-610 Cor
Total Cor: 19

You pick up the potions and a brassy axe from the selection, placing them on the man's counter. He smiles as you transfer your hard earned Cor into his account, then hands you your new gear.
>+4 Health Potions
>+Dwarven Axe

Your friends walk up with their purchases, and transfer their money to the blond clerk. Henry buys a round wooden shield with a steel boss. Emily places a scimitar on the counter, and sells her old sword. You follow her lead, and sell your basic axe.
>+100 Cor

You return to Ruby's inn, armed with your new axe and armored in steel and leather. You wipe off the mud from your boots, entering the clean hall. Henry pays for the rooms, having spent the least. Funny, wood products seem to be extremely cheap in this town.

You wake up in your boxers, and equip all of your gear after getting out of bed. Your helmet limits your peripheral vision slightly, two thin bands of grey steel at the sides of your vision. You leave the room as Henry gets up, and order a plate of eggs in the tavern. Your friends enter one by one, armored but not armed.

After breakfast, you leave the inn and walk along the boards to the gate. Once outside the town of Tolbana, your party starts jogging. A long, paved road leads out of the small valley the town is in, branching between the Town of Beginnings and Horunka island. As it doesn't branch until a days walk, you start down the road.

Your chain jingles, your boots crack against the stones, and your cloak swishes with each step. The party makes an ungodly clatter as you pass, breaking the day's silence. Near the end of the day, you start to see other PCs on the road. None of them stop to talk, focused on their quests or destination.

At the end of the day, you bed down on the road's "Y" intersection. After setting a watch, you fall asleep only to be woken by a scream. You instinctively reach for your inventory, quickly equipping your armor. You can't make out anything beyond the red glow of the fire. Your clock says it's 4 AM, almost day. Still it's darkest before the dawn, and Henry was standing watch. You can make out his curser, glowing in the night. Surrounding him are five red cursers.
>What do?

I just like fucking with you guys, when you leave doesn't effect anything
Or does it?

>>
>>36869964
Check on the rest of the group. Don't wake them if they aren't already awake. 5 enemies should be no problem and a howl should easily awake them in an emergency.
>>
>>36869964

>>36870040

>>
>>36870066

>>
>>36870123
I think it would be better to try not to attack first. It's what? The first week? I think these guys just want our loots and a quick buck. Just play it cool first.
>>
You creep close to the red cursers, looking for their owners. Nothing that you can see, though your eyes aren't suited to fighting with so little light. A flash of white flies at Henry, knocking him to the ground. A deep growling fills the air, red eyes glowing above Henry. A desperate push by Henry sends the Alpha wolf off of him, sending them rolling into the dark grass.

The four other cursers turn to face you, eight red eyes glowing in the fire light. All Alphas, how the hell did a pack of them come about. Is SAO scaling it's levels or is this just a random mob of monsters?

You have no time to ponder it, as two of the monsters jump at you from opposite sides. You fall to the ground, letting the two Alphas slam into each other. They snarl and tear into each other, attacking their rival. Seems there isn't a definitive leader of the pack.

The other two monsters, not occupied by infighting, circles around you.
>What do?

Why do you guys instantly assume its PKers? Have you no faith in humanity?
>>
>>36870254

>>
>>36870254

>>36870382

>>
>>36870254
Howl. Join Henry. Fight back to back. Wait for cavalry. Slay wolves.
>>
>>36870254
Usual strategy for now. With our new weapons and armor we should be able to tank now better than ever before.
>>
You Howl at the monsters, drawing the sparring Alphas to attack you once more. Your Howl has the added effect of waking your friends, though they are groggy and will take time to get ready.

The injured Alphas, both in the high yellows, charge at you once more. This time, you lift your new axe in an Overhead Strike. You cut one wolf in twain, the halves sstriking you with the living wolf. The dead monster serves to light the road for a moment, You have two wolves circling you, and another latched onto your back. You jerk to the right, slinging the monster into the grass.

You rush up to the wolf, kicking it in the ribs until it runs away in the red. The two unharmed wolves are looking over at your friends, who are just now getting their weapons equipped. You Howl once more, drawing them in.

The three monster leap in unison at you, pulling you to the ground with their white teeth. One snaps at your face, being stopped by the steel helm. It repositions, and grabs hold of your left arm. You press a button to sharpen your bracers, cutting small glowing lines into the wolves' white bellies.

Your health bar loses chunks with each bite of the monsters' jaws. You grey bracers whittle away at the monsters' health, dealing only ten damage each cut.

An Alpha bites down on your helmet, teeth shrieking as they gouge the fine metal. You reach up at the monster's jaw, holding it shut with one hand. You other grips your axe, and you swing it at the ribcage. A white line traces itself onto the monster's side, while the other two monsters savage your legs.

You swing your legs away from the monsters, dealing and taking damage as you hit the monsters upside the head. You flip the wound covered legs, white pixels covering your black pants. You spin on your shoulders, your legs landing around the monster's back.

You pull yourself up using your legs, coming to a rest on the monster. You pull back your axe, and perform anOverhead Strike to the monster's neck.
>Overhead Strike Level Up!

The monster breaks apart, removing you from your squatted posistion. You stand, looking in the faint light of the dead monster for the living ones. One still circles you, snarling. The second has pealed off, loping for the drowsy pair by the fire. Henry is back on his feet again, his shield facing the monster that attacked him. Both are in the yellow, and you as well.

You turn away from the circling wolf, heading to your friends. Still occupied by their inventories and blinded by the fire's light, they don't see the black wolf charging them.

They do, however, notice the large screaming man charging them with an axe.

You Howl to draw in the monsters, the charging wolf faltering a bit before charging back at your friends. Chris closes his inventory, with only his two-handed sword. Emily is armed with her scimitar, standing at her boyfriend's side.

You speed up as the monster leaps at Emily, targeting the weaker opponent. Chris interrupts the leap with his blade, swinging it up at the monster. The monster growls as the sword hits, cutting into the monster's belly.

You grab hold of the monster's tail as it knocks Emily down, pulling back with all 18 of your strength. The monster digs in, its claws digging tracks into Emily's torso. Shit, she's already in the yellow. You swing the Dwarven axe into the monster's hips, sinking into the flesh, bone, and pixels. Henry cries out, in pain and hatred. You can't spare a look, focusing on restraining the wolf attacking Emily. Chris is chopping into the monster's back, swinging it over hit head like a sledgehammer.

"You got this?" You ask Chris, who is chopping blocks from the Alpha Wolf's health.
"Yeah" Chris says, you instantly let go of the monster. You turn and run, leaving the light of the fire for the night's dark.

You look around, searching for the cursers of your friend and his adversary. The red light from the Alpha wolf's curser shines through the darkness, visible in the night.

The wolf behind you dissolves, Chris's blows finally ending the wolf. You keep running, noting a slightly darker patch of darkness. The red curser float above it, showing you the wolf.

A spearhead flickers out at the monster, stabbing into it's shoulder. You check your arm back, charging into the monster. You swing the brassy axe down, watching it glow green as you hit the monster.

You feel the muscle part beneath your blade, cutting through computerized flesh. A whine goes up from the monster as it spins to face you. A green curser appears in your peripheral vision, Henry standing with you. His round shield protects his leather clad torso, imposing a thick wooden barrier. His spear rests on the leather covered rim, facing the monster. The monster is in the very low yellows, a few more strikes needed to finish it off. Henry is the same, at 37% health.

You Howl, your loud scream making Henry and the wolf cringe. While the monster is facing you in annoyance, you lift up your axe in an Executioner's Strike over your head.

The green covered bronze axe swings down at the monsters open jaw, a critical hit against the monster. It survives with a hair of red health, backing away from you as it's muzzle heals from four separate pieces into it's normal two.

henry rushes forward, his spear clutched for an overhand strike. He flicks the spear forward, stabbing at the Alpha wolf. It lands in the dirt, a puff of dust popping up from the spearhead. The blade sticks, and Henry releases the weapon.

Holding his shield in both hands, Henry raises it up and slams the rim into the monster. The wooden shield knocks the monster the grass, and you rush forward to dispatch it.

You grab hold of the axe, and swing it back for an Executioner's Strike.

You slice through the monster's neck, the head falling to the ground. It's tongue lolls out, before dissolving into light.

Too riled up from the fight to sleep again, you fully arm up and start making torches. Using your already made torch, you light the other torches aflame.

Your party forms a square on the cobblestone road, with you in the forefront right corner. The flames light your way through the night for two hours, before the rising sun is enough to see by. You turn off the torches, ridding yourself of the burden of constantly holding up your arm.

Hands free, you start jogging down the road. At noon, you stop and eat the sandwiches from the baker's. Fresh bread, ham, a strange type of cheese, and lettuce. You start jogging again, the food sitting heavily in your stomach. As you get closer to the Town of Beginnings, the grasslands fill with people.

As the day ends, you come close to the Town of Beginnings. At 7:51, you step up to the stone walls of the Town of Beginnings. You nod to the NPC guard, who opens the gate.

You walk through the cobblestone streets, looking at the many players that stuff the city. Many have just returned to the city after a day of grinding in the fields, camping the spawn points. It's more people, real people, than you've in days.

You return to the armorsmith on 23rd street, between a butcher and a baker. Across from the armor store is a candle shop. You open the dark wooden door, to find seven other people clamoring for the smith's attention. They turn to look at you as your party enters, then look back at the NPC blacksmith. You wait for your turn, watching the other players buy or sell armor to the man. Finally, after twenty minutes, you get to talk to the man.

"Hello son, your the boy I sent looking for Alpha pelts, right? You have them on you?" You pull open your inventory, sending a list of the contents to the smith. He whistles at the different pelts and chitlin pieces. "Seems you have plenty to make something. Come with me to my studio."

You follow the black haired man, stepping into the leather working and smithy combination. He gestures for you to spread out your good to be made into items. "Now, what kinda armor would you like?"

You tell the smith your choices, and watch as he sets to work on them. The armor pieces glow and form into masses based on their composition. The man starts first with the Alpha wolf pelts, then moves on to the insect parts.

You hand Henry the armor made from Alpha Dire Wolf pelts, a full shirt of leather and fur armor. Two thick pieces of leather cover the chest, studded with brass to hold it in place. Small hardened leather scales cover the upper arm, over a piece of conditioned and softened fur. A small fur cape covers the back plates, the wolf head on the right shoulder. A small metal wolf head hides a buckle on the belt. Henry smiles, thanks you, and replaces his basic armor with the Wolfsbane Armor.

Next, the man forms light armor from the Mantis carapaces. You hand it to Emily. The brown chitlin has been polished to a rich nutty brown, and formed into strips. These strips overlap, like Chris's lorica segmentata. Small pieces of green gemstone, made from the Mantis Jewel, line the shoulder pieces. Small spines from the arms tip the shoulders, pointed out from her neck in cascading lines. A rigid turtleneck made from chitlin covers her throat, a large green gem at the sternal notch. Emily turns around, and unequips her armor. She quickly replaces it with her new Mantis Segmental Armor.

You watch as the shining mass of Jewel Wasp Carapace forms into armor beneath the skillful hands of the smith. You equip the armor instantly, and remove your cloak so you can get a better look at it in a mirror. It's beautiful, a shimmering opal that has been beaten into armor. A heavy piece of shimmering chitlin forms a cuirass, with smaller plates covering your upper thighs. The upper arms and shoulders are ribbed for pleasure, the tips of the plates curved up. The back is a segmented series of plates, covered by two "wings" from the pauldrons. As you look at the back, the color changes from green to orange.

Round Viking shield wins the flip

You take up a round shield from a stand of them, testing it's weight. It feels light, your strength stat making it easy to manipulate. It has an interesting design(insert the design if you want) and a soft iron rim on it. The boss is steel, polished until it has a mirror-like shine. It is shaped like a bowl, hiding where your hand is put. A leather strap lets it hang from your shoulder, though you could just put it in your inventory for marches.

Emily remembers an inn here in town, and leads your party there along the numbered streets. it's on the corner of 5th and 14th, with an attached tavern and brewery. It's modeled like a Japanese castle, with waxed rice paper windows and tiers of tiled roofs. It's painted bright red, the tower rooms rising from a wide base with large banks of the rice paper windows.

You enter, and it's a damn madhouse. Players kneel in shallow depressions, eating sushi and everyday food with chopsticks and forks. A asian NPC in traditional Japanese clothing greets you, and has you sit in one of the open depressions. Around you, sit three other parties all eating for the night. You order sushi and some teriyaki chicken, which the servingman brings in a few minutes along with a glass of water.

Talk about the dungeon, and whether or not they think their ready to start tackling it.
>>
>>36880623
Ask how they feel about going ahead and facing the dungeon as they are now. I'd suggest if we could ask any of the other PCs if they'd want to join us but considering these are the same guys who opted to stay in the beginning town and grind the past week, I feel like they'd just be dead weight.

"I've never heard about something like that. The guide book doesn't mention it either. Maybe we could see if there are any monsters that do that." Emily says, looking into her small guide book. You got one too, but haven't really felt like reading it. Even moreso because it's over a thousand pages of lists and inventory descriptions.

>>36880683
"Are you sure? There hasn't been any assaults on it yet, judging from what I could hear. If we go, we're gonna need to stock up on healing crystals." Henry says

You go to pick up a piece of sushi, with avocado and tuna. A california roll, from your time before SAO. It has a different name here, something you can't even pronounce. The piece of sushi is grabbed from between your chop sticks by a small monster, the size of a house cat. It flies away, it's four wings rippling like a cuttlefishes'. The monster lands on a blue haired girl, whose eating with two other girls.

You look over at the party of girls, who range from the ages of sixteen to eighteen. The beast tamer keeps eating her sushi, hiding a smile behind the food. The other girls, one with copper wire hair and the other with jet black hair, giggle as the monster curls up around the blue haired girl's neck.

You attempt to glare at the girl, but only lead to making her spit out a burst of her tea. The rest of the girl's party laughs even harder, the three girls adding to the roar of the tavern.

>>

>>
You look straight into her eyes, letting a smile creep onto your lips. The girl slowly stops laughing, then goes silent under your gaze.

You hold the creepy smile for a moment longer, then feel your face break into a grin. "Watch your pet, don't you know stealing food is rude?"
"I do, but Nadasa doesn't." The girl lifts a piece of shrimp up to the shark, who scarfs it down whole. It's blue mouth only has a few small white teeth, which it retracts into it's gums.
"Have you ever tried teaching her?"
"...That would have been smart." The blue eyed girl says coyly.
"So how'd you catch one of those anyway?"
"I fed it some shrimp from my picnic. I was out near the forest with my friends," The girl motions at her party members. "We were eating and it swooped down on my shrimp cocktail. Boom, I get Nadasa."

"Can you help me tame a Alpha Wolf?" You ask, remembering game of thrones. Hopefully you don't end up like Rob did.
"I doubt you could do that, even if you gave it a ton of it's favorite food. You have to get them while they're babies, or else they won't imprint on you. Nadasa's only level 2, she was brand new when I found her."
"Awww, really? Thats a disappointment."
>What do?

>>
>>36881976

>>
>>36881976
Make a mental note to raid a wolf's den sometime in the future.
>>
>>36882019

>>36882019

Level based. Dire wolves evolve into Alphas, Sunsharks into Galaxiodons, Clawfeet into...nevermind

>>36882055

>>36882092
The blue haired girl's eyes go wide as you hold up a hundred baby monsters. A few drop to the floor, while others climb around on your arms. "Why do you have so many... Whatever. Those guys are way too creepy to have as familiars. I'd just sell them to a zoo or chef."

>>36882097
NoBut you can release them at the boss level. They will attack anything that moves

Can we dismiss our pet? Or are they permanently stuck with us?

Word of God is that you need to be at least 10 levels above the floor number to have a good chance of making it through the boss, so they were at least level 10.
>>
You make small talk with the blue haired girl, when her friends finally break into the conversation.
"Machi, why haven't you introduced your friend? The girl with black hair says. She says something in what sounds like Japanese, yet your NerveGear translates it for you.
"Shut up Tori. I have dibs" Machi turns back to you, speaking in English again. "This is Tori and Yuki." She motions first at the black haired girl, then the girl with copper colored hair.

You finish your dinner off, everyone talking after being introduced. At nine, you say goodbye for the night and head up to the tower rooms. Your room is on the fourth floor, in the corner of the tower. You lay on the bed, which is honestly just a small mat on the floor. The wind blows against the waxed rice paper, pushing them in a small bit. You wake at seven, and head down to the tavern to have breakfast. Your friends and the three Japanese schoolgirls come down to the tavern over the next hour.

After breakfast, you pay off your debt and leave the japanese styled inn. Your group of seven, split into two parties, exits the town through the main gate with a multitude of other players. Seems other people want to get to grinding already.
