You are Shee Hyul, rebel and psychic. Your world is ruled by inhuman creatures and this has gone on far too long, it’s time to fight back.

Character Sheet http://pastebin.com/fYSgcZdE
Rules http://pastebin.com/LEEi5A3u
QM Twitter https://twitter.com/anAspiringQM
QM Askfm http://ask.fm/AnAspiringQM

You wake up in your home, a tiny shack in dust town made from wood and tin sheets, the gaps plugged with rags to stop too much dust getting in, though you’ll never keep it all out.
You come around slowly, recalling the events of yesterday, what happened, your new...powers. you shiver under the pile of dirty blankets protecting you from the cold.

You’ve heard the fae can detect all sorts of magic, you hope that out here in dust town where none of them go, you’ll be safe, but in the hive, using your powers will be risky, very risky.

You get up slowly, still aching from everything that happened yesterday. Once you’re properly dressed, and you’ve splashed some cold water on your face from a bucket, you head outside, a cloth wrapped around your face. Outside the rising sun is a red blotch in the sky, dust masking its light. This morning there’s very little wind though, and only occasional wisps of dust tumble by, you lower the rag over your face and head to breakfast.

You walk down the street to the communal kitchen, dusters don’t have much, but what they do have, they share. You pay a little of your wages into the community funds, and you’ll always have something to eat. You join a line of dusters and eventually you get to the servers. Today’s breakfast is porridge, with what tastes like a little animal fat to thicken it. It’s best not to ask what kind of animal.
>>
You sit at a bench, dusters all around you, some talking quietly, most just concentrate on their food, oblivious to the world around you. You sit and think about the events of yesterday, about what happened, the gifted, your new powers, and your conversation with Charun. That last one leaves a sour taste in your mouth: Charun is normally so calm, collected, nothing upsets him, but now something did, you can guess what it is – he doesn’t want the trouble of having someone with powers the fey can detect in his group.

You’re so deep in thought that the tap on the shoulder takes you by surprise. You spin around to see an old woman, Shelly you think her name is.

“Yeah?” you ask cautiously

“Charun needs to speak to you” she whispers in your ear.

“Where is he?” you ask

“The hospital” she says.

You quickly down the rest of your breakfast and head over to the local hospital. By duster standards it’s pretty good: Three folks all with some type of medical knowledge, enough power to the place to boil water, and even a few types of medicines.

You hear low voices talking about the Gouger, it’s killed again just a few miles away, you block it out: monsters prey on dusters all the time.

You walk through the ramshackle structure until you see Charun lying on a bed, coughing weakly. You kneel down next to the bed “hey boss” you say quietly “you wanted to see me?”

He turn his head to look at you “Ah Shee” he says “good, I hoped you’d come, I need to ask you a favour.”

“Are you going to be ok?” you ask. You can’t imagine Charun being dead, he’s always been there, always looked out for you. “It’s not the ‘lung is it?”

He coughs “no no” he rasps out “It’s not Dusters Lung, I always wear a wet cloth out in the open, I have years yet before the ‘Lung gets me. My wound is infected” he indicates his leg “Not as fast as I was, getting hit, anyway I’ve had worse, but I’ll be a few days getting over it, I need you to do something for me.” He looks up at you with rheumy eyes.
>>
“Anything” you promise.

“I had a meeting arranged with a contact” he says “A clerk called Danny Whittler. He was going to bring me shipping lists, let us know which trucks to hit to get the best stuff.” He is interrupted by a coughing fit “But” he continues “Danny has gotten nervous, won’t come out of the Hive, and paranoid, wants to do some cloak-and” he coughs more “dagger bullshit. I need you to meet him at the Avery Halls Restaurant in the Hive, Level 29 Third Ring, 8pm, tonight.”

“I can’t” you say “My work pass only lets me stay until 7pm. If I try to get out of the gates after then I’ll be arrested.”

“You are resourceful” he says “I’m sure you’ll find a way.”

You are on receptionist duty today and you’ll probably be done in plenty of time to get to the restaurant but you’ll need way out of the gates afterwards, and it sounds kinda risky.

“What about these?” you say, gesturing to your clothes: a collection of patched rags “I won’t exactly fit in on Level 29 like this.”

“True” wheezes Charun “guess you’ll have to wear your work clothes.” Your employers do provide you with a very business-like suit when you’re at work, but you’re supposed to change and leave the clothes there. You’ll probably get away with doing it once though.

But still, this plan...

What do you say?

>I’ll do it
>Someone else can do it (who?)
>Put the meeting off until you’re better Charun
>Before I decide I need to know...(what question?)
>Other (what?)
>>
>>36874165
>Someone else can do it (who?)
Gee, I don't know.
Maybe someone with social skills or empathy powers? We only know how to shoot guns after all
>>
>>36874165
>I’ll do it

>>36874180
Understanding wasn't even empathy powers, let it go.
>>
>>36874165
>I’ll do it

>>
>>36874165
>totally not a trap or anything

>Other (what?)
>Send someone else, and I'll cover their back
>>
>>36874165
>>Someone else can do it (who?)
Rhy. She's been abysmally useless so far.
>>
>>36874191
>>36874204
And here you can observe the people, despite not being specced for social in any way at all, eagerly accepting a social job for no reason at all.
That being said, we're the only competent people in these rebels anyway.
>>
>>36874235
>you need to specialise in social skills to be able to talk to someone
It isn't even a social mission, the main problem is getting in and out unseen, not convincing the guy. Stop your utter faggotry.
>>
>>36874235
It's just like anon predicted, despite everyone voting GUN GUN GUN last thread, we'd automatically devolve into Diplomancy again!
>>
>>36874251
Where is the diplomancy here?
We haven't even met the guy yet. Talking to people is not diplomancy.
>>
>>36874165
>>Someone else can do it (who?)
Rainya. Being a clone chick helps with such things.
>>
>>36874235
>>36874251

The hell? It's not a social mission, it's only a fetching quest with sides of stealth.

Besides, the plot must move on, regardless of build or MC reluctance.
>>
>>36874165
>I’ll do it
>>
>>36874251
When we get inevitably ambushed at that meeting spot and then try to talk instead of shoot our way out, thats the point when you can complain about diplomancy.

6 votes with 5 IPs that aren't the QM. And it continues.
>>
>>36874269
>>36874262
Guys, at least have the decency to take new IPs before doing this. Its the first vote, there is no reason for the IP counter to not go up when you vote.
>>
>>36874165
>I’ll do it
>>
>>36874233
>>36874165
*Rainya, not Rhydian. Sorry.
>>
>>36874235
We'd have the easiest time fitting in in the mission area (the Hive); it's not a social mission, just a pickup; our Teleportation is a boon since it will allow us to bypass the gates on the way back.
>>
Do we know anything about these guys yet?
>>
> vampires
> fae
> something something gifted
Did I miss some lore paste or did the first thread explain almost nothing at all about how the world works? Am I just to assume this is Forgotten Realms in THE FUTURE then, judging from the system and power mechanics?
>>
>>36874317
The first thread explained these things exist and the basics of how they work.
>>
>>36874324
Eh, I suppose. It just felt a little bare-bones and too derivative for my tastes. Not attacking OP, I know he's more of a D&D than a quest guy and therefore used to unspoken implications, just saying it how I feel it.
>>
>>36874336
>It just felt a little bare-bones
Because it is, because the quest has just started.
And the derivative thing, yeah. But nothing to do about that.
>>
Votes I’m seeing so far
Someone else (any) 1
You’ll do it 4
Other (someone else goes, you’ll cover) 1
Rainya 2

With 8 votes, and 8 IPs visible (including me) I guess I’ll have to call a final destination vote. This will go live in 5 minutes.

[Metapost]

Just to clarify, you and Ashley are the same age. Young vampires are allowed to feed, but vampires (of any age) are not supposed to feed on children.

Samefagging/Final Destination: I will call for Final Destination votes when I think they are needed or when enough anons request it. I understand that some votes will be hotly contested, but without proof of samefagging (i.e. more votes than active IPs in thread) I am loathe to disregard votes that appear to be samefagged on one or both sides.

I am of course willing to listen to and consider suggestions on how to improve on this.

[End Meta]
>>
>>36874343
>And the derivative thing, yeah. But nothing to do about that.
I guess. Just saying. I'm sure OP can improve if he wants to.
>>
>>36874346

What will you do when there are 146 IPs again?
>>
>>36874346
Okay look, I "voted" >>36874180 because I'm a sarcastic ass, then I voted again.

That's where the extra vote came from. Okay? Lets just get the fuck on with it
>>
>>36874369
Thank you for clarifying Anon.

You'll do it wins, writing.
>>
>>36874346
FD should only be done in the event of a tie, in my opinion. It simply doesn't serve any other purpose except to clarify between two options by eliminating the other options.
It does not, can not, and was never meant to eliminate samefagging.
If you want to do thart, you need to do 1min FD, because its the only thing that can limit samefagging in any meaningful fashion(by restricting it to 2-3posts per poster), but I don't have to mention for what reasons that is probloematic.

My recommendation is, if samefagging becomes obvious, roll out between all existing options. All of them.
Its literally the only thing to be done about it and at least incentives people to be somehwat not blatant about the samefagging.
>>
>>36874369
There was more than one non-IP vote.
>>
>>36874388
>My recommendation is, if samefagging becomes obvious, roll out between all existing options. All of them.
I second this motion, at least it keeps the quest from being controlled by a minority.
>>
>>36874388
>My recommendation is, if samefagging becomes obvious, roll out between all existing options. All of them.
That's a terrible recommendation.
>>
>>36874414
Better than any other option.
And definitly better than letting the current state of affairs persist.
>>
>>36874388
>My recommendation is, if samefagging becomes obvious, roll out between all existing options. All of them.
Holy fuck no.
>>
>>36874420
>Better than any other option.
Why? It leads the entire situation ad absurdum.
>>
>>36874414
>>36874421
Come up with a better idea.
I would rather play a quest controlled by the dice gods than one controlled by one samefagging piece of shit.
>>
>>36874420
The current state of affairs is better.

If that recommendation was taken, anyone could decide to samefag in an obvious manner on every single vote, resulting in OP rolling for every single vote. Enjoy your non-interactive quest decided entirely by dice rolls.
>>
>>36874430
Because it means samefagging doesn't win. Simple as that.
You can't prevent it, but you can make it unattractive as option.
>>
>>36874435
>If someone wanted to shit up the quest, they could
Yeah, thats how it currently is. How is the quest less non-interactive when your vote means absolutely nothing unless you are willing to samefag like hell?
>>
>>36874433
>>36874442
The solution is called weathering it out. It's simple, if the quest becomes based on rolling I'm out.
>>36874435
Exactly. We're already at a much smaller size so... really, it's up for OP if he wants to let samefags control his quest, or just outright kill it.
>>
>>36874433
>>36874442
Rolls = I bail.
>>
>>36874447
>It's simple, if the quest becomes based on rolling I'm out.
I feel the same about the quest being controlled by a blatant minority. Especially since Pally has shown to be willing to overrule clear majority votes in favor of obviously manipulated FD.
>>
>>36874447
>The solution is called weathering it out.
Dude, we had samefagging in AGAIN in the literally first vote. Not even a really important vote.
>>
>>36874442
So everybody loses. Brilliant. It also fails to make it less attractive as an option if you are in the minority, since a 1/X chance is better than 0. Not to mention the possibility of trolls and quest-killers.
>>
>>36874457
That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. If the quest survives it, good on OP, but it won't have my support anymore.
>>
>>36874463
>Not to mention the possibility of trolls and quest-killers
How is letting the samefagging persist any less attractive to trolls and quest killers?
>>
>>36874463
I don't see how blatant samefagging controlling the quest would kill the quest any less.
>>
>>36874457
>>36874462
> letting samefags win
vs
> letting one or two trolls kill the quest aspect of the quest, essentially rendering making it roll-based write fagging
Well I guess this is a matter of priority, but I'd drop as well since there's not been enough to really consider dropping it a loss yet.
>>
>>36874462
See: >>36874369
It was just me being an asshole about our choices in chargen, Jesus fuck.
>>
>>36874480
Nothing to do about it anon except to get into the game yourself.
Since apparently the other readers don't mind it.

>>36874494
As I said before, there was more than one non-IP vote.
>>
>>36874502
And which one was that? Because you haven't exactly pointed it out to anyone and there's enough IPs in the thread at the time to make it only 1 extra vote
>>
>>36874502
It's possible someone posted before voting.
>>
>>36874480
>I don't see how blatant samefagging controlling the quest would kill the quest any less.
Because there'd at least be the pretense of it being a quest.

seems more like mutants & masterminds or GURPS psionics from the mechanics.

Fae are the occupiers, Vampires are the uncle Toms, Gifted are the superhumans. That's my understanding of the setting anyway.

You think about asking Rainya to go instead, you’re not the most social of people at the best of times, before finally saying to Charun “Yes, I’ll do it, ok.”

“Good, good” wheezes out Charun “Danny Whittler is about 50 years old, he’ll be trying to dress casual and he usually eats a meal before I even get there. He knows someone other than me is meeting him, so he’s insisted on a passphrase, he’ll ask you how you got there and you’ll say *the route 33 tram was stuck, so I had to walk.*”

“That’s...” you say

“I know” he coughs “But Danny is too good an intel source to lose, if he wants to play games, we play games.”

“Ok” you say a little reluctantly “Are you going to be ok?”

“Go” he says, waving you off “I’m fine, you’ll be late for work.”

You head out and catch the bus into the Hive proper, packed together with lots of other dusters. You are stopped at the gates and all IDs are checked, a familiar routine.
They leave at various stops, you are one of the last to disembark, in the middle of the hive you take the elevator up to Level 25 and hurry to Johnson and Associates. You quickly wash yourself in the on-site showers for duster employees and dress in a suit worth more money that you make in 6 months and once at your desk, the day begins.

Most of what you do is making sure Mr Johnson’s Associates know their appointments are here, answer the phones, book people in to see Mr Johnson or one of his associates and take orders for workers.

Johnson and Associates is a contracting company: different companies come to them for temporary workers, listing off skills and numbers needed and your employers move the manpower around. You’ve been working there for 3 months and whilst most of the requests seem legit, a few are suspicious. For example today you took an order for a single worker, listed as a *specialist cleaner* and his qualifications include years of work in the police forensics department.
>>
Still, a job is a job and it pays well. Today you have a small mountain of paperwork to sort through, and by the time you’re done, you look at the clock and it’s already 6:55, damn! You’ll need to run if you want to get there in time. You head out of work as fast as you can, throwing on a long coat to conceal the clothes you’re wearing and rush to the meeting point.

Whew! You got to the Avery Hills Restaurant just in time. You hand in your coat at the door and look around and see a figure in badly fitting casual clothes, with messy grey hair and a lined face, looks to be Danny Whittler sitting at a table in a corner. The clean plate and empty glass in front of him shows that whilst you’ve been rushing to get here, he’s been enjoying his meal.

The restaurant is busy and noisy, you see couples with faces only a short distance apart having to should to hear one another.

You walk casually over to Danny and he looks up at you in confusion “Uh this seat is taken” he says.

You lean down and say to him “A friend sent me.”

Danny looks suspicious but still asks “And if I asked you how you got here?” he asks.

“The route 33 tram” you say “was stuck, so I had to walk.” The route 33 tram doesn’t run anywhere near here, you don’t know if he’s smart for picking a catch-phrase that no one would say accidentally or stupid, for picking something that makes no sense.

Danny leans in to you and passes you a sheaf of papers “Tell Charun its getting dangerous, my fee for anything after this is now 20% higher.”

“I’ll pass the message on” you say as neutrally as you can. Danny gets up to leave as you stuff the papers in your bag.

You get up to follow but he pushes you down into your seat hissing “wait a few minutes at least, in case anyone is following.”

A little irritated at being told what to do, you wait until he’s out the door and then you get up to leave.

“Shee is that you?” asks an almost familiar voice.
>>
You turn in surprise, only to see, no it can’t be...is that, Ash?

You see a young man in expensive but somewhat worn clothes. He’s just as you remember him, blond hair, blue eyes, still kinda skinny and awkward looking. He’s taller than the last time you saw him, towering over you by a good ten inches.

“Ash?” you ask in surprise.

“Yeah” he says, “it’s me, but Shee, look at you” he gestures to your business-like attire, “wow, moving up in the corporate world.”

Oh wow, this is awkward, his family wanted you out of his life after...well after they found out. But you expected he wouldn’t agree with them. Also you can’t really stay and chat. But on the other hand, he is (or was) your best friend and he can probably get you past the gates no problem.

It happened in the hypothetical bad futures where we went with OP's magical realm.

Celestial children being kidnapped by fae, demon cultists, harvested by wizards, etc.

Sireyi having a fairly high chance of losing her child during the fight with the Killing Frost, had she chosen to get pregnant.

>>36874704
Smut/lewd is definitely not going to be the focus of the quest, and will only occur in pastebin format on rare occasions. I got confirmation of that from OP himself.
>>
>>36874684
Magical Realm is where the GM, in this case, the QM Pally, would be forcing us to indulge his fetishes.

Such as, in this case, being bitten to escape otherwise we get arrested.

If the PLAYERS AND The QM both AGREE to put it in, as they have with the Bloodwhore thing, then it's not magical realm at all.
>>
>>36874741
All things we luckily saw coming. But I don't need to remind you what a heavy struggle it was for us to prevent these things from happening. We had a massive samefag war over the celestial babies thing.
>>
>>36874728
Not really actually. Not from what I've seen anyway. But then again I do talk with him outside the quest.
>>
>>36874763

Magic realm is when a ST, or Dm puts a setting element or plot point in because it is his fetish. People can very well enjoy that.
>>
>>36874763
>as they have with the Bloodwhore thing
You mean the Qm and the two or so guys who samefagged that one to being a thing?

>>
>>36874764
It wasn't that bad, honestly. At least it was mostly casual samefagging instead of proxies and IP changing, and we were all calm and rational by the next thread.

Anyway, the point was that magical realm has realistic consequences, even if it is OP's fetish.

“Ah yeah” you say lamely “look at me...” you shake your head slightly and gather your wits “Ash, what are you doing down at such a low level, shouldn’t you have a guardian with you?”

Ash shrugs “Maybe, yeah” he says, almost defiantly, the two of you falling into familiar roles “But I’m safe now you’re here, right?”

He sits down at the table you just got up from “So what were you doing, schmoozing clients? Or did you have a date, because I’ve gotta say, the guy walking out looked too old for you.”

You give him a long look, he holds up is hands defensively “I know, I know, none of my business, right.”

You decide to change the topic “Ash what *are* you doing here?”

He looks uncomfortable, lowering his head to let his fringe cover his eyes, they way he does when he’s embarrassed, or lying. “I uh, I got placed in college early” he says, looking at you as if wanting to gauge your reaction.

“That’s wonderful, I knew you could do it!” you say, hugging him impulsively, he stiffens briefly and then relaxes into the hug, hugging you back.

“Yeah” he says, once you let him go “So the guys decided they needed to take me out on the town to celebrate”

“The guys?” you ask. Ashley never had many friends.

“Yeah” he says “I got moved schools, and I met some guys who-”

“Hey Ash!” yells a young man in expensive clothes, hooking an arm around Ash’s neck, a bottle in his other hand “Who’s the squeeze? This your girlfriend huh?” he asks “Or your feeder? Either way, bring her along Ashy-boy, now let’s find a bar and get started!”

A group of a half-dozen young men and women come with the new arrival, they are all dressed up ready for a party. Seems like these are Ash’s new friends.

“Ash” you say “Do you want me to come with you?”

“What?!” yells the guy with his arm around Ash’s neck, displaying obvious fangs “Of course he does, the more the merrier, right?” He shakes Ash roughly, and smells of booze.

“Uh, yeah, sure Quinn” says Ash, lowering his head so his hair covers his eyes. As Quinn takes another drink from the bottle Ash takes the chance to shake his head emphatically at you, rolling his eyes in Quinns direction.

Seems Ash doesn’t want you along, but also doesn’t want to argue with Quinn.

After Quinn’s empties the bottle and stares at you, swaying slightly you say brightly “I’d love to come, I’m Alice Green, I’m a friend of Ashs.”

“Any friend of Ashs is a buddy of mine!” declares Quinn extravagantly, taking your offered hand and kissing the back of it sloppily.”

“Awright!” says Quinn, he gestures to his followers “This’ the crew, Janice, Volf, Simon and Steve, yeah they’re twins, Betram and Macy.”

The other six vampires (?) give you a mixture of polite nods, disinterested glances and lustful stares. Quinn hauls Ash out of his seat and says “Ok, next stop, Zammers!”

You walk with the group to Zammers bar. The music is loud and the place is hot, even this early in the evening the dance floor is full and holograms and flashing coloured lights make the set up of the place confusing.

As Quinn and the others head to the bar to fetch the drinks, Ash pulls you to one side, yelling to make himself heard over the music, though you’re probably the only one who can hear him “Are you crazy?” he asks “You shouldn’t have come.”

“Well I came anyway” you yell back “What’s the deal with Quinn?”

“He’s ok” responds Ash “When he gets his own way.”

“Is that why you let him push you around?” you yell.

“Did you come here to save me?” he asks “because I’m not a kid anymore Shee.”

What do you tell him?

>Yes, I followed to protect you
>You’re my friend and I miss you
>I need help getting past the gate tonight
>Why is Quinn such an asshole?

I don't see it implying that.
It only says that we missed that when we left the hive, it doesn't say why we left the hive.
And the fact that she "lost contact" with him, pretty strongly implies they got forcefully seperated in some way, since there is no reason why they wouldn't keep in contact otherwise, she still works in the hive.
>>
>>36875315
>Implying we want to get over Ash

The losing contact would be going to differing schools, likely due to him moving home and such though?
>>
>>36875357
Poor Ash, his friend is a slut who only likes him for his fangs.

>>36875365
Considering that the bite-addiction is described as a pretty intense drive, I would think she would go to some length to keep in contact if possible, so just moving seems unlikely as reason.
>>
>>36875374
>Poor Ash, his friend is a slut who only likes him for his fangs
If that was the case then we'd go off with the Asshole vampire and get bitten by him instead
>>
>>36875386
We ar more comfortable with a biter we already know.
But no saying we wouldn't to get our fix.

Seriously though, I'm a bit confused by how the biting is described as pretty major addiction, yet she got along for three years without seeking it out apparently. Thats a bit odd, unless the drugs are actually good enough as substitute. And even then, that she hasn't thought about it even once yet, makes me think its probably a bit overstated in the pastebin.
>>
>>36875408
Yeah, we already know that anon.

Combine that with not having any thoughts about being bitten already and it seems we've already gone off of it quite a bi
>>
>>36875357
>Implying we want to get over Ash
Pretty sure we could have tracked him down before now if we'd wanted to.
>Implying "Fighting his kind" is the sort of blanket and retarded attitude we want to be taking
I was under the impression the vampires were the part of the local population co operating with the Fae in return for being allowed to fangrape with impunity. In which case, you might have the occasional schindler figure among them, but on the whole they're working for and with the occupation. Did I miss something in the lore?
>>
>>36875421
It should be clarified though how mucht he drugs take the sting off it.
Its not unlikely we get into a situation at some point where that bite addiction might compromise us, so if the drugs actually are a reasonable susbtitute, thats something that should be clearer in the flaws.
>>
>>36875386
I see her as a recovering addict. Who's replaced her addiction to Vbites with any drug she can get her hands on.
>>
>>36875431
>Did I miss something in the lore?
The Intro made it sound like the "Vampires cooperate with the fey" is a common rumor, its not something really factually known.
Its possible only some vampires do.
>>
>>36875431
>Pretty sure we could have tracked him down before now if we'd wanted to.
Pretty sure we're trying to remain in contact now.

>I was under the impression the vampires were the part of the local population co operating with the Fae in return for being allowed to fangrape with impunity.
Some of them, especially the older Vampire Families who hold all the power. But normal vampires like Ashley? Hardly.

Not to mention, it's only a rumour
>>
>>36875451
>>36875480
Fact is though, all vampire benefit from that cooperation, by being largely immune to laws controlling feeding, which is why Ashley got away with feeding from us at all.
>>
>>36875497
>which is why Ashley got away with feeding from us at all.
What? No.
Did you even read that segment? It just wasn't publicly known and neither of our families intervened
>>
>>36875497

>>36875513
>you think his family and yours suspected, but no one said anything

I think you should re-read that segment.
They did know, and why do you think our family didn't do something about it?
>>
>>36875513
Pretty obvious our families didn't intervene because of that. What he did was still pretty illegal.
>>
>>36875540
Because we were best friends, lovers, and we were addicted to him maybe?

You know that breaking two people up like that is an asshole move, even if it is for their own good. Takes a lot of nerve to even try.
>>
>>36875558
>breaking up two freinds when one of them is feeding the other heroin is a dick move

>>

She was 11. Thats far from the height of puberty.
And he was brought up as a vampire we know, and childhood friends are often considered pretty inseperable, that doesn't indicate fucking, especially when applied to children.
And the letting him bite us, seriously. Thats childish curiousity.
>>
“You’re my friend and I miss you” you say “I don’t give a damn what your grandfather says, I’m not going to cut off all contact with you just because he says so.”

He smiles, and blushes “Thanks Shee” he says “And thanks for trying to stop him, but really, he wasn’t going to kill me, he was just going to punish me for...”

“You didn’t do anything to me I didn’t want you to” you say bluntly “And it looked like he was killing you.” You fold your arms, dammit Ash why so stubborn?

“We heal fast” he yells “what could kill you won’t kill us. If you hadn’t cut him then we’d still get to see each other every day. How did you manage that by the way?”

Your hand goes to the locket at your throat “I don’t know” you say “It was the only bit of sharp metal I could find.”

You recall Ash pinned to the wall by the throat, his grandfather lifting your friend off the floor with one hand, his fist punching him again and again in the body, you recall the sickening sound of breaking bones.

“Do. Not. Feed. On. Children” said Ashs grandfather, punctuating each word with a blow as Ash yelled in pain and coughed blood.

“Get off him!” you yell “It was my fault, I asked him too!” You are ignored. You try begging, pleading, try to drag Ashs grandfather off him, but he continues to beat your friend mercilessly.

Finally you grab your locket and punch Ashs grandfather in the face, the sharp edge of metal jutting from between your fingers. He sees the blow coming but doesn’t flinch or try to avoid it, as if you’re of no more consequence than a fly.

He recoils in pain from your strike, a bloody puncture on his cheek “By the Bloodlord!” he curses “What was that?”

You are jogged back to the present by Ash speaking “That’s the only time I’ve ever seen anything hurt grandfather” he says “You probably don’t know it but he spent a long time trying to get your family to give him that locket, I think it had something to do with why they...” His voice trails off.
>>
“Why they threw me out” you continue bitterly “and told me I could never live in the Hive again.”

Ash just looks uncomfortable, you take pity on him and change the topic “So why is Quinn such an asshole?”

“Oh that” says Ash “Is because his name is *Quinn Crimsonthorne*” you whistle, impressed despite yourself. The Crimsonthornes are the most powerful vampire family on the planet, they’ve got so many connections and so much money they probably employ a few hundred people just keeping track of it.

“Yeah” says Ash “and his great-uncle is Demanthane Crimsonthorne – next in line to take over the whole family. So yeah Quinn knows no one can do anything to him, or else.”

“Explains that I suppose” you say.

“Yeah” agrees Ash “By the way, good thing you used a fake name, if Quinn knew...”

“Don’t want to get you in trouble” you say “think nothing of it.”

Ash shakes his head “not that” he says “but thanks, no, Quinn knows your name, he know we used to be...close. If he knew who you were, he’d try to hurt you or something, just to be an asshole.”

Huh, ok. “So Quinn thinks he can do anything he wants?” you ask

“Pretty much” confirms Ash

“Even go to Dust Town?” you ask

“What, why?” asks Ash

“I’m here past curfew” you explain “If I try get past the gate, I’ll get detained.”

Ash screws up his face “Quinn would do it” he says “Just for fun, but he’s not totally stupid, he’d try and find out who you were, or mess with you just for fun.”

Further discussion is halted as Quinn and the others return, a beer is thrust into your hand and you are pulled onto the dance floor.

You spend the next few hours dancing and drinking, but you take care to drink slowly, and refuse anything harder than beer. Despite your age, no one seems to question anything Quinn and his friends do.
>>
As a group you stumble out of Zammers, heading for the next bar. You and Ash are helping a drunk Macy to walk, she has an arm over each of you. Quinn is ahead, walking in a weaving line, seems to be in a confrontational mood, yelling at passersby.

You could ask him for help now, or let him get drunker, or maybe leave and find your own way out.

“I think it’s best if we split up and meet somewhere” you say to Ash “Just in case Quinn gets suspicious.”

“Good plan” he agrees “there’s a diner called Jazens” he gives you directions “Meet you there as soon as I can.”

You say your goodbyes first, making sure everyone in your little group sees you walking away, as Ash continues on with the party. Everyone except Quinn that is – he’s drunkenly arguing with a statue, looks to be one of the Hive founders.

You get away from anywhere with police patrols and head to the all-night diner Ash told you about. You’re not waiting long, less than an hour later he arrives and the two of you leave “So how are we going to get past the gate?” you ask as the two of you walk through town, late at night.

“Actually” says Ash “I was wondering if you wanted to stay at my place, yeah I know, student digs, but still you can crash with me and go back in the morning.”

You think about it, you don’t actually have to get back tonight, Charun would have told you if any of the intel you have in your bag was time-critical.

“Sure” you say “lead on.”

Ash leads you to one of the hive elevators and takes you up to Level 42. The two of you talk as you walk, he’s pretty excited about going to college a year early, he’s studying business and finance, and Quinn has, for all his misbehaviours, taken Ash under his wing like a younger brother. Quinn and most of his friends are in their second year of college. Ashs family is doing fine – as are your aunts and uncles. Ashs grandfathers wound took a long time to heal, almost human-slow, and he doesn’t like anyone talking about it.

Finally you arrive at a large habitat, looks like it could easily house twenty or more students. Ash unlocks the door and lets you both in. “So which room is yours?” you whisper.

“Why are we whispering?” he whispers back

“Well its midnight” you point out “wouldn’t want to wake any other occupants.”

Ash laughs and says at a more normal volume “What other occupants? Shee this is all mine.”

Ah, you forget how damn rich his family is. Chuckling he hands up your coat and leads you to the kitchen, grabbing you a drink of water, and getting himself one as well.

The house is larger than the one you grew up in and is luxuriously appointed, with all the modern and high-tech conveniences you could ever want – Ash doesn’t pour you a glass of water, he asks the house AI *Watson* to do it.
>>
As the two of you slump on plush and comfortable chairs in the living room Ash asks “So Shee, I’ve been babbling on, but what about you?” he learns forward “I mean it can’t be easy living with, with dusters, what’s your life been like these past few years?”

>Don’t tell him anything risky
>Tell him about your new powers
>Tell him you’re a rebel
>Tell him about the drugs
>Tell him something else (what?)

Your response will by default include a general description of life in dust town, if you want to include or omit specific details, please say so.

Its still a valid way to spin the drugs explanation, which seemed to have been the point. Telling him we got into drugs because of our biting addiction.
And you specifically encouraged us to role-play the addiction out, you can hardly complain that we do that now.
>>
>>36876452

I voted for blood whore flaw too, I just want a bit more of self-control.
>>
>>36876446

I don't dislike it at all. I voted against blood-whore because I would have hoped for Pallys quest to be more than fetish bait.
But this is my fetish too, so I win either way.

Really just your own fault then. The vote back then was blatantly if we are slut for vampire and for vampire V or vampire D.

Why did you think that got so heavily samefagged?
>>
>>36876452
>dominating this quest
Depends on what you mean by that.

Vampire husbando shenanigans are probably going to be a focus as far as romance goes, but romance itself will never be the sole focus of the quest. Sexual things will be a side-note at most.

“It’s not been easy” you admit, “life in dust town is so different, so...primitive. I mean, most of them don’t know what a computer is; they think I’m some all-powerful hacker because I know a little coding.”

“You always were good with computers” says Ash “And you did manage to activate the sprinklers in the school that one time, if I recall they couldn’t get the school AI to turn them off – it kept insisting they weren’t on, they had to shut the water off and then reboot the entire school net” he laughs, and you join in, remembering, yeah, that was fun.

You tell him about life in dust town, avoiding anything to do with your powers, and with the rebels. But there is one part of your new life you do talk about.

“Ash” you say carefully “when they sent me away, who did you start feeding on?”

He goes still, and then answers “Just the clan feeders” he says “I had to-”

“I know, I know” you soothe him “you’d have died if you didn’t feed, you did the right thing.”

“But they don’t mean anything” he insists “feeding now it’s just, it’s just something I have to do to survive, it doesn’t feel like anything.”

“Really?” you ask, one eyebrow raised.

He folds his arms and looks away “What do you want me to say, that I enjoy it? I do, of course I do, the feeders do too, but it’s an empty pleasure” his voice drops in volume “it’s not *you*.”

“Thanks” you say, damn you must be coming down with a cold, you sniffle briefly, and then continue “Ash, I” you start again “Ash I didn’t have anything to replace what we had.”

“I’m sorry” he says, still not making eye contact “I wanted to, really I did, but Grandfather made clear-”

“No, no” you say, getting out of your chair and taking his hands in yours “It’s not that, it’s” oh dammit “Ash I turned to drugs to try and get that feeling back, I wish I hadn’t, but I did, ok.”

Ash looks at you, his eyes wide, his hands stiff and unresponsive in yours “What?” he says “What sort of drugs, not Mindburn.”
>>
You snort “No of course not fucking Mindburn, geez, I’m not that dumb, just a few things to pick me up, or slow me down sometimes, some Shine every now and then.”

“Oh, oh” he says, his eyes flickering back and forth “Oh Shee I’m so sorry, I mean, you hear of things Duster girls have to do to get their fix and-” You swat at him with the back of your hand.

“Don’t pity me” you say half-joking, half-serious “I haven’t *done* anything for a fix, I just need a little now and then and I’ve got a cheap supplier, I’m not selling myself or anything.”

Ash looks relieved “Good” he says, then his face falls “but still, I’m sorry, and...why are you telling me this?”

“You asked what my life was like” you say with a shrug, “and we never kept secrets from each other before.” You tell yourself that your powers, and the rebels aren’t *your* secrets they belong to your allies as well, because telling anyone could put them in danger.

Ash laughs, a bitter sound “yeah I guessed I asked for it.” He says “still, I wish there was something I could do to help.”

>>36876890
A lot can change in a few years get to know him again before we do anything we might regret. Besides it's better if we firmly put down the demon of our drug habit before we deal with the biting one.

Final Destination Vote

1 - Bite me now
2 - No biting, yet

A little blunt I know, but I just want to be clear.

Please post only the number, no quoting, no greentext, no other text.

I will close in 5 minutes, votes after I close will not be counted.

I realise this leaves those who want no biting in the future out of a proper option, but this conversation and situation are about what happens now, not a plan for the future.

Or they could have, you know, timed it correctly so they did it after 5 minutes. Since that's perfectly feasible.
>>
>>36877172
Eh I getcha. I've had my players try the same shit with me. But you don't get to pick a character flaw for extra points then not act it out. It's bullshit. I may them spend their points on buying the Disadvantage off or remove it from the sheet and they can't gain new XP till they pay off the bonus they got from it.

You can't be an alcoholic and never drink. If you've got the flaw. Here's the greatest temptation and there no struggle to resist or.. Any sort of struggle of will it's just a, "Nope, I'm good. Relationships are important." Said.. how many druggies ever?

We'd better get high as fuck when we get back.
>>

I consider it a matter of taking one or the other, and the drugs don't damage our relationship with Ashley as much as constantly getting on him for a bite. That shit is kinda creepy you know?
>>
>>36877228
We probably will, remember we don't know if Ash has changed yet either, or if his place is bugged. We turned down the cocaine so we're likely going to have to smoke a lot of weed. And alcoholics can get clean only to back slide later or just walk out of a room if they see alcohol being served, it depends on experience and willpower.

We've been clean for years of it, so we can definitly resist to ask.
>>
>>36877269
>kinda creepy you know?
It's.. almost like we're an addict. Oh wait but that wouldn't be cute and would damage relationships like an addiction does! Let's not do it. You know?

>>36877272
>Weed
No.. it better be coke or heroin if you're trying to resist a goddamn crack addiction. Comparing this to weed means the flaw is irrelevant and we shouldn't have even picked it up. Ash.. I ... I smoke the MArajuwanha!

>>36877305
Addicts.. are dicks.
>>
>Okay guys, fuck getting Ash to bite us for no reason
>LETS GO GET HIGH
>FOR EQUALLY NO REASON
God you fags are the absolute worst
>>
>>36877321
>no reason
0/10
>>
>>36877321
>FOR EQUALLY NO REASON
What? We get high because we are a addict trying to kick a even worse addiction yb using substitutes.
Both had perfectly valid reasons.

>>36877319
>It's.. almost like we're an addict.
A addict that tries to get off that habit, yeah.
>>
>>36877319
Yes, maybe that's why we should have taken the addiction which is not only better for our body, but feels better AND allows us to have interesting character interaction.

But no, we're just going to shoot ourselves up with drugs in a corner because people are both prudes and FAR too paranoid
>>
>>36877340
>AND allows us to have interesting character interaction.
>fetish bait
>interesting character interaction
Bull, fucking, shit.
And I cast doubt on the assumption a addiction so bad it makes us go to hard drugs as a lesser substitute is "better for our body".
>>
>>36877319
Fair enough, i know piss little about drugs or addiction. Still we're trying to get off the habit, have been for years making (some) headway. If he asks i'd imagine our resistance would crumble like the walls of Jericho.
>>
>>36877338
>An addict trying to get off of the habit
>So they indulge in the habit
Fucking wow anon.

And no, the blood whore one isn't worse at all. In fact if you guys had any trust in our best friend then there goes the only bad point about it.

MEANWHILE, WITH DRUGS.
>>
>>36877321
It's not for no reason. It's called role-playing. That's what some of us are here to do.
>>
>>36877340
>people don't want to be addicted to the bites of the abusive upper class assholes
>paranoia
You do realise that we aren't specifically addicted to Ashs bites? We think twice about letting someone else bite us, but thats because we don't indulge the habit and can still think twice about it.
>>
>>36877321
We're not trying. We're clearly off the habit. We just voted to walk away from crack. We're going to go home and apparently vote >DRugsRBAD

Apparently it's only okay to have an addiction problem. When it's not around. Once it rears its ugly head. Suddenly the players have no problem saying no and not engaging in whatever addiction there is.

It's fluff and not really apart of the character. It's just that one neat thing that we had So long ago in our 14-15 years of life.
>>
>>36877353
>I KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS FICTIONAL ADDICTION AND WHAT IT DOES TO PEOPLE
>>
>>36877350
Yeah, see? Now it's just "NO UR MAGICAL REALM IS BAD CANT HAVE THAT"

Which is the entire fucking reason we aren't getting bitten.

>>36877359
Oh, lets see then.

What fucking reason do we have not to get bitten here then?
He wants to do it.
We obviously find it better than the drug's we're using, it's also cheaper.
We FOLLOWED HIM HOME, for what reason? To just sleep at his house? Fuck off
>>
>>36877353
>In fact if you guys had any trust in our best friend then there goes the only bad point about it.
Why exactly would we trust him? We haven't seen him in 3 years.
And even more, we, as players, haven't ever interacted with him at all. We know nothing about his personality.
He might have abused her into stockholm syndrome for all we know.
Thats why backstory LIs are shit.
>>
>>36877373
>Yeah, see? Now it's just "NO UR MAGICAL REALM IS BAD CANT HAVE THAT"
Thats not even remotly what I said. I have no issue with peoples fetishes or magical realm, I just call bullshit on trying to sell it as anything besides that.
>>
>>36877340
>>36877353
Being this butthurt over not turning into a vampslut at the drop of a hat. Once we make sure Ash hasn't turned over into some elitist snob then we'll see, he's a secuirity risk at best.

>>36877373
So we wouldn't get caught and killed and maybe get to know him again? It's been 3 fucking years.
>>
>>36877380
That's exactly why you're a shit Roleplayer too, and can't put any trust in the QM.

What next? Denying the drugs because you don't know their effects?
>>
>>36877373
I think I miisunderstood your post. I'm agreeing that it shouldn't be so easy for us to turn from our addictions.
>>
“Honestly” you say “right now, I want nothing more in the world than to pick up where we left off, Ash you were, still are my best friend, and I was never happier than when I was with you.”

“But” you say to Ashs confused look “I’d just be replacing one addiction with another, it would feel good, so good to be with you again Ash, but I can’t, it would harm us both I think. Please, I need to get this out of my system, and then maybe someday later, I can be your blood feeder again.”

“Ok” says Ash “I guess I can understand that, and I respect you more than ever for it.” He rises out of the chair and hugs you hard “but if you think I’m cutting off all contact with you, you crazy bitch, you’re wrong.”

“What do you mean?” you ask

Ash breaks the hug and goes over to a drawer, pulling out a comlink, offering it to you “Here” he says “call me, any time you want”.

“Ash I can’t” you say “It’s traceable.”

“So don’t call every day” he says, wrapping your hands firmly around the comlink “Besides, you’re smart, I’m sure you’ll figure it out.”

True, if you limit your contact to short messages, text rather than live video your comlink won’t be active long enough for anyone to track it.

“Now let’s get you a spare bed set up” says Ash “Watson, one room for the lady please.” He hugs you again “See you in the morning Shee.”

And with that, you retreat to your room to sleep.

---

The next morning you enjoy a shower, a real shower, with directed water jets, proper soap, the works. You’ve not felt this clean in years. When you go downstairs Ash is already cooking breakfast for you.

“Good morning Shee” he says cheerfully “How do you like your eggs?”

The two of you enjoy a full breakfast, before you each have to go, you to work, and Ash to College. Before you do go, Ash types a long string of numbers into your comlink “Watsons Master Code” he says “You can access him anywhere you can get on the Wire.”
>>
>>36877359
Roll playing would actually be struggling with the addition. Not ignoring it because it has negative consequences.
>>
>>36877373
>To just sleep at his house?
Apparently.
Or because we subsconciously crave his bite but don't want to admit to it because addictions are fucking bad, m'kay?
And spelling out to your only friend you just met again after three years that you need him to fill your dibilitating addiction is kinda shaming for her, so obviously she isn't just gonna come onto him hard.
>>
He’s not wrong, with Watsons Master Code you could subvert the entire house AI to your purposes.

“Ash no” you protest.

“I trust you” Ash says, hugging you again “with anything, just don’t turn my sprinklers against me.”

“I’ll try not to” you say with a chuckle. The two of you say a somewhat misty-eyed goodbye and go your separate ways.

You think about your options as you head to work, a top-of-the-line civilian AI, yours to command. True, Watson won’t have any hacking software, and you’ll need to limit your contact with him when calling from outside the Hive, but still, you could set him trawling civilian computer networks for all sorts of things, not to mention you can check up on Ash any time you want.

Are you going to tell Watson to find something for you?

>>36877592

>>
>>36877592
We're trying to get clean, remember?
>>
>>36877609
>>36877614
That doesn't happen from one day to the next. And She has been definitly taking the pills for years now as substitute. We are trying to kick the bite addiction, if we manage that, if we do actually manage that, we can start going easier on the other drugs.
>>
>>36877614
>>36877609
>Pick a flaw, Trying to get clean so flaw doesn't exist. Clean by thread two! Wow! Addiction is so easy to break! Why doesn't everyone with an addiction just put the pills down!?
>>
>>36877609
Wut? We are not clean at all. We are lean from vampires, but we chug meds on a daily basis.
>>
>>36877654
That's exactly the same with the bloodwhore one anon, which we just ignored. So don't pull that shit.
>>
>>36877644
If we stop taking the happy pills the withdraws would have us throwing ourselves at the first biter that walked by or snorting anything we can get our hands on.
>>
>>36877654
To be fair the picking of the biting flaw was only done by samefagging and even with the samefagging it barely won, so its pretty obvious there is a sizeable number of people, possibly the majority, that never wanted that flaw to begin with and feel due to the circumstances of it being forced on them, not beholden to role-play it.
>>
>>36877644
>We are trying to kick the bite addiction
No, we're not?

We're trying to kick the drug addition, then we're going to go back to being bitten.
>>
>>36877670
So.. it's okay to ignore the flaws because they don't count? Is that what you're saying?

The excuse for ignoring the blood flaw was that we had pills. Now the excuse for ignoring the drug flaw is that we ignored the blood flaw.

Do you see the problem?
>>
>>36877670
We didn't ignore it at all. We fought it down.
Huge difference. Ignoring it would be not taking the hapopy pills now, because those are the substitute for the biting.
>>
>>36877689
The problem is we shouldn't have ignored the blood flaw in the first place, which we did, entirely and completely.

>>36877681
To be ENTIRELY fair, the entire biting thing was absurdly heavily samefagged on both sides, but nearly all the votes before that indicated we should get bitten
>>
>>36877684
We need to kick the bite addiction first, then the drugs, then we can be bitten. Trying to kick the drugs while having a bite addiction and not having Ash to fill the void wouldn't end well.
>>
>>36877706
We didn't fight it down. There was no struggle. And we're not talking the happy pills now because drugs are icky.

See roll playing only counts if the character has only positive attributes.
>>
>>36877706
Funny thing is: People who wanted the biting are now going to do exactly what the people who didn't want the biting did.

They're going to spite vote not taking drugs.
>>
>>36877671
>would have us throwing ourselves at the first biter that walked by
You begin to understand. Wonderful.
Because ONLY that way does this flaw have any meaning whatsoever. If we get our fix by getting bitten by the safe choice everytime, the flaw would really lose all meaning and just become a routine thing we check off at the beginning of each day. Only by actually trying to fight it, and having possible consquences such as being tempted in unsafe moments, that is the only way its actually a flaw instead of fetish shit.
>>
And this is why chargen a fucking shit folks.
>>
You decide not to set Watson searching for anything yet, no need to risk getting Ash into trouble.

After work that day you leave your suit in its proper place, put on your rags and head home, checking out of the gate on the bus before curfew as normal. The first thing you do when you get back is give the intel to Charun, explain (with as few details as possible) about being caught in the hive with no way out until the next day, he seems to accept your explanation, being more interested in the pares you bought him than anything else.

You head back to your shack quickly, you’ve managed to hold it together in the Hive, but now as you get to your shack you feel your body start to break into a cold sweat. Your clumsy hands pull open your shack door and shut it behind you. You race to your stash, hidden under the floor, pulling out a tiny bag with a metallic dust in it, careful, not too much, just a pinch. You pop a tiny amount of Shine on your tongue and feel your whole mouth tingle and go numb as it dissolves, ah, sweet relief. You lay back on your pallet, feeling your whole body relax, tensions you didn’t even know you had melting away, you close your eyes and just drift peacefully for an hour or so, before falling asleep properly.
The next few days pass without much happening, you go to work, you text Ash regularly on the comlink he’s provided you with, you try to ration your tiny supply of Shine out as much as you can. Whenever you read a message from Ash you feel a tingle in your neck, your arms, your legs, all the places he used to bleed you, it’s only a memory, but it’s better than nothing.

You also experiment with your ability to teleport, after a few mishaps you stop experimenting, it’s clear you don’t know much.

Charun spends several days recovering, and reading the papers you’ve given him, one evening when you’re getting ready for bed, he knocks on your shack door “We need to talk” he says, letting himself in.
>>
>>36877727
>They're going to spite vote not taking drugs.
Then they are going to have to live with the dice penalties. Not impossible she would want to try not taking any drugs after meeting him, but that would have consequences.
>>
“About what?” you ask, wrapping your rags around you for decencies sake.

“There’s a convoy” you says, waving a sheet of paper at you “lots of medical supplies, the black market will pay top credit if we can take it intact, but I think we’ll need you at top form.”

“Ok...” you say, wondering where he’s going with this.

“We need to go someplace” he says “You need to find out about your powers. But it’ll take time, call in sick tomorrow at work.”

No its not a flaw at all. If we have a completly safe, no downsides way of feeding our addiction, its not a flaw at all.
The only way this could actually be done while being a flaw is if Ashley would turn out to be some abusive scumbag who uses it against us, which isn't gonna happen.
>>

Gee, maybe there's the part where the addiction could be used against us.

Or the part where we're reliant on Ashley.

Or the part where it's socially unacceptable with the rebels.

Or the part where we have to enter the Hive to meet Ashley.

You know, all those things. That you're ignoring because you can't deal with a male LI.

They're less rebels and more mafia with a thin veneer of noble intention. It's to be expected.
>>
>>36877944
It's still an addiction, and being feed on by Ashley would satiate it.

It doesn't have to be always detrimental to be a flaw within the context of the game's rules. It's more of a role-playing hook that gives extra xp if we choose to use it.
>>
>>36877988
Not him. Random guy. Just want addiction to be played out. Sa'll. You can get dicked by ashley till the cows come home. Hell if he bites us it's feeding the addiction and is probably cheaper than shine.

>>36877960

>Or the part where it's socially unacceptable with the rebels.
Which has not really anything to do with playing out our flaw.

Thats exactly what I want, but thats impossible if we can safely suppress it by just feeding on Ashley.
>>
>>36878007
>It doesn't have to be always detrimental to be a flaw within the context of the game's rules.
Then the games rules are shit if they only serve to incentive fetish play.

>>36878026
Its not completly different at all. Its just changing it to apply as an addiction equally to all vampire bites all the time.
>>
>>36878036
>Which isn't a issue if we can trust Ashley and Pally is not going to pull that Twist of us not being able to.
We're a psychic and a rebel. Both of which are part of things the establishment he's part of are against.

The twist may not be pulled for HIM, but his family? That's another issue.

>Wasn't a issue apparently
Not YET.
We're in the second thread, we haven't used our powers much at all. What happens when we're finally identified?

>Which has not really anything to do with playing out our flaw.

>>36878111
Yeah, his family hates us.

They're not going to openly kill us, report us to the police, or keep Ashley away from us as it is.

So no, at this point you're just ignoring what I'm saying and arguing for. I don't see any point to arguing with you.
>>
>>36878148
Did you miss the part where they drove us out of the hive just so we can't be near Ashley anymore? Are you reading this quest?

And pretty much all of your "downsides" come from associating with a vampire, not from the blood-whore flaw.
>>
>>36878169
Literally all of them except one, actually. But lets not try with logic. He is afraid we might not choose his husbando for the sake of feeding our addiction.
>>
>>36878169
Ashley lives alone now, remember?
If he's seen associating with a rebel and a psychic that will change.

The bloodwhore flaw comes with having TO be associated with a Vampire, that's one of it's main tenants, so obviously if we didn't have bloodwhore we wouldn't be suffering from those associations. Therefore bloodwhore is the cause and therefore a flaw
>>
>>36878223
No, our friendship with Ashley, which was a independent vote, is the cause of that. And our will to maintain that connection.
That would still be a thing even without the blood-whore flaw, unless you want to say that its literally the only reason we bother with him.
>>
>>36878241
If we didn't have the bloodwhore flaw, we wouldn't have to see him in person, we could chat like we now do, over the net essentially.

Therefore, all of the problems which I listed wouldn't be applicable.
>>
>>36878282
Obviously even with the blood-whore flaw we don't NEED to seek him out in person either. We didn't for three years.
And she still would want to meet her best freind, as far as we know only friend, in person, especially since people want to husbando him, which is pretty hard to do not in person.
>>
>>36878311
Then that would be ignoring the addiction, the very flaw we're talking about, wouldn't it? Which is exactly what you don't want to be doing.

So thanks for admitting I'm right, and that this IS a flaw.
>>
>>36878282
So, let me get this straight. You literally admit the only reason you want to have the blood-whore flaw, and want it to stay like it is, is because it incentives people to husbando him?
>>
I think the bullshit arguments this flaw provokes are penalty enough to call it a flaw.
>>
>>36878362
>So thanks for admitting I'm right, and that this IS a flaw.
What sort of desperate retard are you?
Our seeking him out has nothing at all to do with the lfaw, and everything to do with our being friends with him.
We HAVE ignored the bite addiction for YEARS. So clearly the character can perfectly well not seeking him out despite it.
But we DO seek him out, but thats not because of the addiction, because we did follow him home without indulging in it.
>>
And now everyone who wondered back then knows what I meant when I said we only had sucha healthy community in PoJ thanks to AAs chargen and the banning of romance. This exact faggotry.
>>
>>36878410
In that case we don't have an addiction at all, and we aren't a bloodwhore at all then.

Right?
>>
>>36878476
Which is kind of the problem, isn't it?
We cancel out the addiction to biting with taking meds.
So if we keep chugging meds, we can ignore it.
The problem starts once we stop ignoring it and indulge in it, because there is no reason not to if its basically a safer, non-cost alternative to drugs. Which makes it not a flaw.
>>
You know, we wouldn't have this discussion at all, if Pally wouldn't have shot down us behaving like a bloodwhore in the vote before then.
>>
>>36878550
Except we would, because I would've mentioned my dislike for that option, as would others, had it been taken seriously.

And then exactly the same thing would've happened.
>>
>>36878573
I seriously do not get what your point is.
So, you want the bloodwhore addiction flaw.
But you don't want it to be played like an addiction, nor do you want us to behave like an addict?
>>
>>36878602
Because the drugs explicitly compensate for the bite addiction. Maybe when we're in serious withdrawal I'd vote for it, but I don't want to compromise three years of abstaining from being bitten that easily.
>>
>>36878633
Wow wow wo-w
Completly different topic.
I'm not saying we should have gotten bitten right there.
I'm saying we should treat it like an addiction. My sole issue is with the assumption that it basically isn't an addiction unless its Ashley.
Because thats not how addictions work.

I'm all for suppressing it with meds and trying without, but once we ever go into a situation where we don't have meds, and there is the opportunity to get bitten, I don't want people to excuse avoiding getting bitten just because its not that one vampire. Because bite is bite.
Thats all there is to it.
Surely you are more reluctant to take your heroin from a dealer you don't know, but if you are in serious withdrawal, you won't give shit.
>>
>>36878702
This is a magical addiction given to us by a vampire bite.

Why should it follow the same rules as other kinds of addiction?

Maybe there's something special to it.
>>
>>36878767
But thats just handwaving it away for the sake of fetish fullfillment.
You want an addiction, but only addicted to your one husbando? Thats bullshit and not a flaw. Thats the exact problem. If you have a flaw and call it an addiction and keep comparing it to drug addiction, then clearly it should be treated like an addiction.
Because thats role-playing. Having a fantasy "not-really-so-bad" addiction completly misses the point of role-playing a addiction.
>>
>>36878842
Then don't call it a flaw. Call it a part of the character,

There. Bam. Problem solved.
>>
>>36878767
>Why should it follow the same rules as other kinds of addiction?
Why shouldn't it?
There is no mention that vampire bites imprint you on that one vampire. And I would want that to be a thing clarified before we ever meet another vampire.
>>
>>36878887
The problem is that its a addiction, not that its a flaw.
>>
>>36878887
That doesn't really change the problem of having a fantasy "not-so-bad" addiction that only serves to tie you together with your husbando.
I mean, I know this is /tg/ so the chances of people actually trying to get to know people before trying to waifu/husbando someone are basically zero, but we could at least pretend not to be so shallow, you know?
>>
I am reading this discussion and making notes to change the flaws as appropriate. Please don't think I'm ignoring you.

All suggestions on are changes welcome.
>>
>>36879032
Should probably have proper discussion about it at the end of the thread or something, as much as I want the flaw to be changed, I don't want to alienate the people that might have good reasons for staying the same.
I haven't seena ny yet, but you know, there might be some.
>>
>>36879032
Just as suggestion.
Maybe it would be helpful to actually have mechanics for this thing?
"Rolling against bite", so to speak. Like a willpower roll. Not everytie, but if we get it offered, or are especially vulnerable, like not having taken any drugs.
Gets bonuses for being on drugs or having been recently fed on.
The DC is higher for resisting a vampire that has already fed on us.
That sort of thing. Not exactly like that, but as a basic idea.
>>
>>36879214
That's already how it works, unless OP changed something.
>>
>>36879248
Then I would wonder why that isn't in the pastebin. Because it should be.
As the pastebin sounds right now, we aren't at any risk at all when having been recently fed on, which shouldn't be the case, nor are we at real risk from other vampires.
>>
>>36879328
>which shouldn't be the case
Why not?
>>
>>36879356
Because you aren't safe from your addiction even if you recently indulged it. Thats kind of the problem, in addition to the diminishing returns. And you only don't need it somehwat while riding the high.
I guess its more that it should be clarified for how long we are less vulnerable after having been fed on.
>>
>>36879356
Because thats not how addictions work.
Thats why chain-smokers exist.
>>
>>36879394
Oh god, our vampire feeding addiction will this threads big ass romance clarification, won't it?

I warned you about this romance stuff Pally. I warned you!
>>
>>36879394
>>36879417
Our drug addiction is solved by popping a pill and only becomes an issue if we go without for too long, the bite addiction should work the same way.
>>
>>36879482
>Our drug addiction is solved by popping a pill and only becomes an issue if we go without for too long
Thats kind of an issue too, but at least we don't have a easy and safe pill dispenser that we are exclusively addicted to, so I can live with that for the sake of not having this become Drug Addict Quest.
>>
>>36879504
You are assigning too much power to these flaws. They aren't intended to be extreme drawbacks.
>>
>>36879595
Thats why I'm saying we shouldn't need to play it super realistic. But it should still be a addiction and be at least some hindrance. The issue with a addiction is afterall that it compromises you as a person, so a addiction flaw, should do that.
I don't want us to become a crack whore like some, so we don't need always more and harder drugs/biting, but at least it should be felt on a even level.
>>
>>36879079
>Should probably have proper discussion about it at the end of the thread or something,

Will do
>>
>>36879655
This entire thread.

There's your drawback.

And it already *does* do what you want, it just doesn't do it when we've been bitten recently.

Character circumstance shouldn't force a rebalance on the flaw.
>>
>>36879714
>And it already *does* do what you want
Not as far as the pastebin indicates.
And we had zero problems resisting the temptation with Ashley, despite neither having taken any meds recently, it must have been what 16 hours? At least?
Might be a flaw of Pallys failure to actually describe the effects of the addiction, but it is as it is.
>>
>>36879714
>it just doesn't do it when we've been bitten recently
As far as we can tell from the paste, it also doesn'T really do it when we haven't been bitten recently, we were sorrounded by vampires for an entire night, and there was no mention of any of the addiction, and the drugs should not have kept the craving at bay for so long, considering we had a episode during our intro mission.
>>
>>36879760
The flaw means we have to make a Willpower save to resist bite attempts, Ashley wasn't attempting anything.

I can think of a better way to balance this flaw than usurping agency and giving players no real way to fight it, reliant wholly on the whims of the dice, I'm certain of it.

>>36879810
Maybe the mere presence of vampires isn't enough to set us off. Maybe we're better at controlling the bite addiction due to the fact that we've been in control of it for three years.
>>
>>36879886
The flaws description explicitley says we would be seeking it out, so clearly the presence of a vampire does set us off.
Of course you can get inton semantics what is a "opportunity".
And I'm not saying we need a roll for it. If Pally would describe the craving more, then that would be a good start.

>The flaw means we have to make a Willpower save to resist bite attempts
The flaw itself doesn't say that at all. It says we really like being bitten and might even seek out the contact.
Its just even harder to resist when directly offered.
>>
>>36879886
>I can think of a better way to balance this flaw than usurping agency and giving players no real way to fight it
One way to fight it, is to keep taking our drugs.
It doesn't even need to be "one roll for whoring yourself out to the nearest vampire", fuck that shit, thats terrible.
But it shouldn't be that there is no reaction at all when there are several vampires around that would bite her if she just asks.
>>
>>36879886
We don't need it as a "one roll-one effect".
A passive opportunity can still get a roll that just decides how much we feel the craving.
If we fail, we get some mali for being distracted. Which can prompt another roll when the opportunity becomes even better, and so on. Then we can fight it, by either leaving the scene, or taking our drugs. And if we continue to not do that, yeah, she should ask for a bite.
Because thats consequences.
