You're Alciadaea, white mage and heir to to throne. Also, you're a bastard. But times are hard and you're the last one standing.
After graduating from the Mages' Academy, you started traveling to the capital to claim the empty throne for yourself. Accompanied by your friends William (a shy boy and necromancer) and Solomon (an elementalist with parents really bad at naming girls) as well as your new pet lynx Karma, you've just reached the second to last stop before the capital. The "Exploding Badger", another inn at the side of the road.
>"Room for six people and stabling for two horses and a chariot, please. Also food for us and the horses."
Jean orders from the landlord. He simply nods.
>"Your rooms are the first two on the left side. I'll look after your horses immediately."
Everything seems settled so far. What do you want to do until supper?
>Train your magic/something else (what?)

Why not both?

I swear our name keeps changing though.
>>
>>36874939
It does? Well, might be the issue that I'm using Alcie so often I forget the long form and improvise it.
>>
You feel like washing away the dirt of the travel. So you ask for the possibility of a bath. Today seems to be your lucky day, for a bathtub full of hot water is already prepared. 'Just a guess', as the landlord said. Seems like a good one. After some good cleaning and changing into a new robe, you go back to the chariot to look for Karma. She seems to have recovered from her injuries pretty well, as she seems to be eager to run and move in general. You throw some pieces of meat in general directions and she runs after them, always coming back to you with what would have been a smile or grin in a human. After some extended feeding and playtime, it's time for dinner.
What do you want to do with Karma?
>Keep her at the chariot, bring her something after this
>She already ate a lot today, it should suffice

Look at OP's picture.

That's what we look like.

That is a desirable form to many men, which makes us a desirable prostitute, hence why we would have many people trying to contract us for a jobs as a prostitute

Why would we want that job? We're a white mage that's about to become queen.
>>
>"Come with me, Karma."
you say and to your surprise the lynx heeds your words immediately. Somehow you seem to know how to talk to her. She walks alongside you, attracting quite a bit of attention of the other travelers in the dining hall. At your table, Karma lays down at your feed, while you sit down on a free chair. There is already a plate of meat, bread and cheese in front of you.
>"I hope you like it, Alcie. You were a minute late so I took a guess what you might like."
Solomon says.
You smile and thank her before taking a bite of the still warm bread. Karma looks at you with big eyes, so you slip her a chicken's leg under the table.
>"We've come quite far already. In about two days we should reach the capital."
Greg informs you between two bites of steak.
You nod and take a sip of milk from your cup.
>"That's good. Traveling is kind of exhausting, even at these luxurious conditions."
Solomon smirks.
>"You already take this for luxury? What do you think will be in two days from now? There will be servants everywhere, helping you with eating, clothing, wiping you... you know. Oh, this is all so exciting. What will you do once you're the big girl on the throne?"
You haven't really thought about this until now. What do you want to answer?

Greg and George nod almost simutaneously. Solomon smiles so bright, she looks like some kind of weird clown or something.
>"Spoken like a true white mage. And a queen. I'm sure you will be the best queen ever!"
From a table at the other side of the room, a young and well-clothed man rises and walks over to your table.
>"Did I understand this right? You're Alciadaea, the young lady, who is the king's closest living relative?"
He hints a bow, then he slightly flinches.
>"Excuse my manners. I'm Burton Clagan, son of Desmond Clagan, lord of Brightwood castle and some surrounding lands. So if you actually happen to be who I think you to be, my father is one of your lords."

You rise and hint a bow too. "Pleased to meet you, Burton. Simply call me Alcie, it's more convenient while talking. Unless there's some rule or something that we have to be formal..." Burton bursts into laughter. "No, no... it's okay... Alcie. You can be informal however you want. We're not at court." he tells you, while waving over to his table. An old man rises and approaches your table, while being led by someone who appears to be a knight or something from the armor and a broadsword he's wearing. "Lady... Alciadaea... right? It's an honor for this old man to meet you in person. I'm Desmond, Burton's father and lord at Brightwood." he says while attempting a deep bow, only to have his knees collapse and fall into his knight's arms. You look at him in shock and ask "Do you need help, lord Clagan? I know healing magic pretty well actually. I graduated from the mages college a few days ago." He just shakes his head and answers "It's just old age. I doubt even the best mage can do anything about that. So if you could excuse this old man, I will simply return to my seat." You nod and the knight leads him back to the table. Only Burton remains with you.

"Could you possibly tell me a little of Brightwood? I didn't travel much until now and a queen should know as much as possible about her kingdom, right?" you ask. Burton nods and clears his throat "Well, that's a good way to think. Knowledge never hurt, someone once said. And he's always been right since then. Brightwood..." he takes a deep breath "...are the fields and woods, mostly woods, along the western border of the kingdom. We're nothing special, mostly farmers and lumberjacks producing the kingdom's need of wood and charcoal." He looks kind of embarassed and lowers his head. Being a somewhat empathic person, you immediately notice this."You look like something's wrong. May I help you somehow?" you ask. Burton's face immediately returns to normal. "No, no... Everything's okay. Don't worry, Alcie. But I think I should look after my father. He's not been the healthiest in the last few weeks, you know?" Quickly, he hints another bow and returns to his father's table. Solomon gives you a confused look. "A nice enough guy... but a bit of weird. Is that what nobles are like?" You shrug. How should you know after all? You all finish eating and everyone goes somewhere he wants to be. Bed, bath, fresh air, whatever. Only you are left.

You go out to the garden, where you suspect Will to be. And you were right. He has summoned an imp again which seems pretty disturbed for some reason. All of a sudden, a shadow breaks from the ground behind it. The imp doesn't seem to notice the movement behind it. As a shadowy hand lays on his shoulder, the imp shrieks in panic and dissolves into smoke. The shadow moves in Will's direction and melts into his. Now Will seems to have noticed you. "Hey Alcie... I just finished training with the liquid shadow. He's even better than I expected." he says, as he sits down on a stone. You sit on another one. Will looks down at his feet, where the shadow is. "Thank you, Alcie... thank you for everything. Without you, I would still be in the tower, fearing my sanity more and more. Without you I would have thrown away this shadow... Thank... thank you, Alcie. Thank you for everything." he sobs, still sitting on his stone. "No problem, Will. We're friends after all." you say. Then you get up and hug Will, who seems unable to stop sobbing. When he finally stops sobbing, he looks into your face and says "I don't know how I can ever repay you. But if you know something I could do for you, simply tell me. I will do everything, I swear..."
Do you know something to say or to do?

Why are you changing your formatting in the middle of a quest anyway? The original was much easier to parse.

I got a request to possibly change it at the beginning of this thread. I'll continue this one the new way and at the end get opinions if I should use the old or the new formatting.

Training won. Specify what. Healing magic? Something else you've seen somewhere and want to try? Do you want to become more proficient in something you already know or do you want to develop something completely new and possibly unique?
>>
>>36878224
Could we develop a spell that banishes evil creatures? I would think William could help us work on that with his summoning.

Sure. Banishing is completely possible.

Cool. Let's give it a try then.

Banishing, I guess.

Recalling the day of your graduation, there is one sound that's still easily recallable from your mind. The squealing of the Revenant when you burned it to ashes. Though already dead, it must have felt some of the possible pain. You decide there must be a more peaceful approach to get rid of evil and undead. Maybe you can open a gate to their home realm to throw them into or something like this. You decide to give it a try.

You channel your magic through your body and concentrate it in your head and hands. Your eyes bode the planes of magic and existance and your hands pierce the veil between them. You take a bit of your magical energy and send it to another plane. It pierces the veil without greater problems. You're sure to be able to reproduce this during banishing.
>New spell unlocked: Banish Evil I
>Banishes smalltime evil, without much willpower to resist. Greater evil needs more practice.
With a sense of accomplishment, you enter the inn for breakfast. The setup has changed. Two big tables have been set together to make one. One the one side is your company, on the other side primarily knights wearing the insignia of house Clagan of Brightwood as well as Desmond and Burton. Burton gets up to greet you, while Desmond slightly raises his hand and returns to his plate again.
>"Alcie! It's wonderful to see you. I've had a few talks with your friends and company and it seems like we share the way in the next two days."
You smile. The more the merrier, as Alanna always said.
>"So you'll be heading to the capital, too? May I ask for the reason?"
Burton nods.
>"Sure. My father wanted to settle an old debt there. Also, we wanted to see the new queen enthroned."
You feel yourself blush slightly.
>"So... all of you are coming all this way just because of me?"
Now you're not the only one blushing. Burton shares your embarrasment.
>"Uh... technically...yes. You know..."
He's disrupted by Solomon calling your name.
>"Alcie! If you could stop flirting and sit down to eat before your milk stops being chilled, that would be great. Also, you two cost me a great lot of my concentration. My good boar ribs are going to get cold if I'm distracted by watching you any longer."
The knights and your three servants burst out in laughter. In Desmond's face, a smile appears. Even more embarrassed now, the two of you sit down and start to eat. It doesn't help that you're sitting next to each other.

After breakfast, you pack up your things pretty quickly and get into your chariot to continue your travel. Solomon and Will are locked in a debate about magic, if you can call Will recalling types of demons and undead and Solomon recalling ways of burning, freezing, shocking, whatevering them a debate. Karma doesn't seem to mind and falls asleep on your feet.
--------------------------------------------------------------------- And at this point, today's thread ends. I've returned to the old way of writing because it's way easier for me. I hope you don't mind that much.
