You are Reinhold, master swordsman and victor of the Royal Swordsmanship Tournament. The King was so impressed with your skill, he personally requested that you be transferred out of the army and into the Royal Guard! Not bad for an orphan who was raised in a brothel in a poor fishing village.

The only issue at this point is your assignment... you've been charged to be the personal guard of the King's only daughter Marianne. While she is the vision of loveliness that you'd expect from a Princess, her personality is... well... she seems to have some issues.

After making it back to the castle, you kept to your word and headed straight for Marianne's room so that you can report to her that you are in fact still alive. She was very happy to see this, though you're not sure how she'll take the other news that you have...

>Congratulations, Reinhold is now a fearsome DIRE WOLF!
>Much larger than their the other types of wolf, the Dire Wolf's size also means that they are also that much more dangerous.
>The Princess considers you to be her dear friend!
>But while dire wolves are massive, they still don't -quite- stand on the same level as people.

>"Y..." Marianne covers her mouth with her hands, "...you're not hurt?"
>"Nope," you shake your head. "Totally fine and in one piece, just as promised. I just got back, and everyone else is downstairs."
>"Oh thank goodness!" she exclaims... and then starts coughing. "I..." she struggles to regain her breath, "...I was so worried..."

"Do you need to sit down?" you ask, worried about Marianne's poor condition.
"No," Marianne slowly shakes her head. "I'll be alright..."

It is true that she looks decidedly less awful than she did this morning... though all the tears kind of make that hard to notice at first.

"So you and Arnaud were able to get rid of those monsters that were attacking Cateno?" Marianne asks.
"Yeah," you nod. "Personally got the one that I was looking for, too."
"I'm happy for you," she sighs, "though I wish you'd refrain from being so reckless in the future..."

All you can do in response is force out a weak, nervous laugh.

I have spent the last 9 days reading all of Princess Guard Quest from the archives. All 232 threads. I have lost sleep and wasted a good chunk of my Christmas vacation when I could have been getting actual rest. Seriously, goddamn you arc.

...and I don't regret a single moment. It was worth it for the cute and lewd and intimate moments.

Gentlemen, it is a pleasure to be on board with you all on this journey.

Salamanders, Raoul, Karel, Orphan. Also I like Luci I think she's great I don't think she's the best fit for Reinhold but she IS a good fit not akward and terrible like Slyvie would have been. That said... Marie confirmed for true route.

This is a really hard decision. If we tell her about the salamanders she's gonna flat out freak. I wanna tell her about Carina but that isn't as pressing as Raoul/Karel which isn't necessarily our job to say.

What to start with first... maybe about Karel?

No, not yet. To explain that, you'd have to go on to explain about her uncle's reappearance, and-

"Uh," you say with a weak smile, "remember when I told you about Volker?"
"Yes?" Marianne replies. "If this is about your grandmother coming to visit tomorrow, you already told me about that."
"No, it's not about that," you shake your head. "Uh..."

Why the hell is it so hard to just SAY IT?

"His friend Adrien," you blurt out, "I ran into him again when I was in Cateno."
"Oh?" Marianne raises an eyebrow. "Well I'm glad that you actually had something nice happen to you while you were fighting those Leviathans."

"And, um..." you force a smile, "it turns out that 'Adrien' was just an assumed name."
"Really?" Marianne tilts her head. "Did you happen to find out his real name?"
"Yeah," you nod. "It's Raoul."
"Ra..." her mouth slowly grows wider and wider. "Raoul? Y- you mean like my Uncle Raoul?"
"Apparently," you shrug.

It seems as if this revelation drains all of the Princess's energy to stand, and she ends up leaning on the doorframe in order to support herself.

"Raoul Philippe -Adrien- Granache..." Marianne clutches her temples. "...It was so obvious, how could I have not realized it the first time you said that name!?"

"He's HERE!?" Marianne grabs your forearm. "A- at the castle!?"
"Yeah," you nod. "Wouldn't surprise me if Sir Gregory started beating on him again, come to think of it."

You're -fairly- certain that he hasn't gotten tired of being on him just yet.

"UNcle Raoul is finally back, and I'm still in my nightclothes..." Marianne looks down at the thick pajamas that she's wearing. "I... I need to take a bath and get dressed and-"
"Hey, calm down," you say, patting her on the shoulder. "You're still sick, remember?"
"Yes, but I'm feeling a lot better than I was this morning," she cuts back. "And even if I -was- still feeling that horrible, that's no reason for me to not go downstairs and greet him."

You're pretty sure that -is- a reason not to do that, but it's clear that Marianne's not about to listen to any arguments to the contrary.

Of course she'd be excited to see an uncle who hasn't been around in what, a decade? But the fact remains that she's still sick and you have plenty more things to tell her, letting her run off now might not be the best thing to do.

"Wait a minute," you hold up your hand. "There's still a lot that I needed to tell you about."
"What, there's more?" Marianne tilts her head. "Because I'm having difficulty trying to understand what could be more important news than my uncle's return..."

You're starting to feel kind of tired...

Well the long and short of it is that he had a kid. A daughter named Karel. Yes. That Karel and yes again a daughter. The one whos been masquerading as a guy. And whom sir gregory just outed infront of everyone after a whole bunch of salamanders attacked the picnic party ar the lake. No, noone was hurt except adrien but that was mostly due to sir gregory punching him.

Oh and i brought back a little girl. She kinda sharp.

Marianne has been taking classes for years over politics both of Granche and Marconetti. At the very least she'll understand how huge of a goddamn deal this is and why she had to know immediately. On the other hand, not telling her will give her the impression that we didn't think it was important enough to delay her for 30 seconds from taking a bubblebath.

"No," you shake your head. "You need to hear this now."
"...really?" the Princes furrows her brow. "Well alright, I suppose... if you're being this insistent about it then it must be important."
"Yeah, it really is," you nod.

Now that you have Marianne's attention, you figure that you ought to tell her about the bit of news that's the most connected to her uncle's reappearance.

"Uh, you might want to sit down for this," you say.
"I'll be fine standing," Marianne replies.

Suit yourself.

"Well, um..." you take a deep breath, "...it turns out that Adrien- er, your uncle, he had a daughter."
"Really!?" Marianne gasps. "I can't believe that he actually got married without telling his family..." she shakes her head. "And to have a daughter in secret, too!"
"Er, he didn't get married."
"What."

"No," you shake your head. "It's not like that."
"Then what exactly -is- it like, then?" she asks.
"He messed around with a girl a while back and got her pregnant," you say.

Hearing it being said out loud, it suddenly seems a lot worse.

"B... but he didn't even know about it until Sir Gregory told him," you say, holding up your hands.

Nope, still doesn't sound any better.

"So my uncle fathered an illegitimate daughter," Marianne says, scowling. "And I take it that Sir Gregory's met this secret child before?"
"Yeah," you nod. "And so have you."
"...what?"

"The maids," Marianne places a hand on her forehead and starts leaning on the doorframe again, "they used to gossip about how Karel seemed to enjoy spending time with Emilio a little bit -too- much, but I just dismissed it as idle chatter..." she takes a deep breath. "...and then they'd joke about how cute he... -she'd- be in a dress..."

So they were always giggling about stuff like THAT?

"So she was a girl all this time," Marianne sighs. "And Uncle Raoul's daughter as well... I can only imagine how badly Emilio took that news."

With a weary expression, Marianne retreats into her room. She seems to be taking all that a lot better than you thought... but now isn't the time to be impressed with the Princess's resilience. Wasting no time, you rush down the hall and go straight for the castle gate where you left your friends waiting for you.

>[1/?]
>>
>>36967018
Nothing, except we're already an uncle. Somebody has to take care of this kid, and Reinhold isn't the type to offload that responsibility to somebody else.

Assuming she can't stay in the palace, buying a house nearby and hiring a nanny is the next best thing we can do. Marianne often retires in the evenings anyway.

If we get tutors or send her to school, our schedules would line up just fine anyway.

Really. This won't be that difficult. We have a fair amount of resources and options available to us.

Exactly.

Someone more qualified.

We're a seventeen year old swordie with psychological problems out of the ass. Nothing wrong with visiting and spending time with them (assuming they don't rob our stuff and vanish), but we should really leave the raising to someone older and more wisened. We're too damn young to be putting serious effort into being a dad. Which is what anons seem to be suggesting.
>>
>>36967072
Shit, not like we really even have anything to spend money on. We live in the castle, we'll probably move into the Marconetti castle at the end of the story, and we're not sending money home to relatives.

Although, Luciana didn't seem all that happy for some reason, and I don't know why.
>>
>>36967072
Really? She's inconvenient and might ruin our relationship with Luci. We should have just keft her behind.

>>
>>36967072
Obviously we can't do something like that without Luciana being totally on board with the idea though, just ignoring her on this or making important decisions without her as if we weren't in a reltionship would be a stupendously shitty thing to do. We can do a hell of a lot to help Carina and even stay involved in her life without the attempted forcing of an adoption on Luciana.

I'd be very much in favor of visiting Carina and giving her some lessons in swordplay if she is interested in becoming BADASS ORPHAN like we were, but without the abuse.

>>
>>36967140
As I see it, we should just get her set up with someone to live with that won't be scumbags. Im quite sure that someone knows some family who would absolutely love to take her in. Somewhere there is a non scumbag family that wants a child and can provide the loving family she needs. Riches and education don't make for a happy childhood. Family does.
>>
>>36967117
Alright what do you suggest? We give her to one of the various royals we know well? That's kind of selfish of us to do. Maybe we can give her to some stranger? Except she likes and trusts us, so that would be kind of mean. An Orphanage has the same problems as well.

Rein picked up this girl because he was reminded of himself, and wanted to do for her what Volker couldn't. Obviously he didn't think this through entirely, but it's too late know.

Reinhold won't want to just abandon her, and he won't want to offload her onto one of his friends either. I really can't see him doing that. He wants to do what he expected Volker to do.

It might not work out that way, but it's really early to be deciding it one way or another. We've barely talked with anyone about this, mainly due to all the distracting Karel/Adrien stuff. I don't think anyone has even asked WHY she's with us.
>>
>>36967072
Look, we can just see if she can join the maid staff or such other position in the castle. That way she's taken care of, fed/dressed/housed, receives a basic education, we can keep a close eye on her, and she earns her keep.

We should talk with Arnauld and Melanie, since they basically run the castle's staff. Once, of course, we have time for this. Currently, there are more pressing matters at hand.

And yet she runs a household (including groceries, cooking, cleaning, decoration, and buying art supplies) while her artist husband is otherwise in his studio working on the next big thing while he forgets to eat.

And let's be honest: she's going to be great mother giving how doting/support yet firm she can be.
>>
>>36967213
She should be learning not scrubbing floors.
>>
>>36967185
An orphanage or acquaintance taking her in is still a thousand times better than leaving her there, and does not fill up our hands even more. Our first responsibility is watching over Marianne and training to get swole. Both of which require a considerable amount of time.

Even focusing on those I'm sure we could still spend plenty of time with Carina, if need be.

I'd rather start up and fund our own damn orphanage than literally adopt her.
>>
I don't see him continuing to be the Reinhold we've created without making a very serious decision on tje matter of Carina.
If we don't keep her regardless.of what problems doing so creates he won't be The Reinhold he'll simply be a princesse's bodyguard.

The first thing you notice when you return to the gate area is that Sir Vincent has arrived, and that he's all weepy-eyed, presumably because it's been so long since he's seen his friend.

Oh, and he's currently trapped the Prince in a bearhug. Adrien's trying to laugh it off, but this is -Sir Vincent- who's doing the bearhugging. You can tell that he's hurting.

"Reinhold!" Carina chirps as she pulls Citrine along to greet you. "You're back!"
"Yup," you say, patting the little girl on the head.
"How did things go with the Princess?" Citrine asks. "Did you tell her about Karel and her father and everything else?"
"About Karel and Adrien, yeah," you nod. "I'll tell her about the rest after I get Melanie..."

You look around for a few seconds, finally spotting the (acting) head maid standing over by Nicolette and Sylvie.

Of course.

I'm honestly surprised with how closely this thread is mimicking the average Christmas dinner.

I remember that actually.
We should use this as a chance to do that if Luciana isn't comfortable with this and our sister doesn't want to take her in.

I think living in the second floor of a suite, and having like ten kids hanging off our legs in the morning is much more adorable than a single daughter that we can't raise properly.

She can do both. Trying to raise her when Rein is already a head case is a bad idea, and it will seriously mess up our personal relationships.

You lack imagination.

We have funds out of the ass. It would be relatively easy for us to send out feelers for old ladies, maybe relatives or acquaintances of meidos, and make the best damn orphanage there ever was in Granache or elsewhere.
>>
>>36967365
Bullshit.
>>36967381
Yeah if theres one thing that says notalone its all those caring staff members.
>>
>>36967183
Agreed. While I think adopting Carina would be a terrible decision, I'm very much in favour of staying involved with her life whether she goes to an orphanage, is adopted by one of our more mature friends, or is hired on as part of the castle staff to train. We can certainly spare a little time to give her some swording lessons if she continues to show interest in becoming a badass; besides, teaching someone else is one of the most efficient ways to refine and develop your own skills by forcing you to analyze what you're doing far more intensively.

That way we still get to not abandon the loli having rescued her from Cateno, we stay in touch and hopefully set her on the path to being a member of BEST ADVENTURING TEAM with Elena and we also don't drop a load of stuff on Luciana like her opinion doesn't matter.

Carina scurries after you as you make your way to the bespectacled maid, who just seems to be taking in the scene...

"Hey, Reinhold," Nicolette waves you over. "You just came here in time to see Raoul get his ribs crushed by Sylvie's old man..."
"He came to greet me and my sisters," Sylvie says, "and then he spotted Uncle Raoul and kind of..." she shrugs. "I can only imagine what's going to happen when UNcle Thierri gets here."
"Where is he, anyways?" you ask. "I'd have thought that the first thing that they did was call him here to see his brother."
"Arnaud's talking to him about the shit with the Salamanders first," Nicolette replies. "Since he thinks that it's really fishy that those things showed up."

Yeah, it kind of is...

"Anyways," you clear your throat, "Melanie?"
"Hm?" she turns to you.
"I told Marianne about Adrien getting here and Karel being his daughter and now she wants to come right down here and see him," you sigh. "But she said that she wanted you to lay out her clothes so she doesn't have to waste any extra time when she gets out of the bath."
"Oh," Melanie nods. "Yes, I'll be right there."

But people WANT THEIR PET LOLI despite us having a massively important job, being 17 years old, and having massive problems. Quit sounding reasonable.
>>
>>36967431
Making our own orphanage isn't relevant to the Carina problem. Even with our funds they don't just spring up instantly out of the earth.

And even if Niklaus teaches us the Mordenkainen's Magnificent Orphanage spell to instantly produce one out of thin air, it's still an orphanage and thus infinitely shittier than a real family.
>>

>>
>>36967444
We haven't even really discussed the issue or decided what exactly Reinhold will do. I kind of doubt she is sitting there thinking "damn him, stop saving orphans." Probably more a concern about adopting a child without even consulting her.
>>
>>36967446
You have to consider Reinhold's thought process in all this. He's the type to go through with adopting her anyway even if he isn't the best suited for it.

What happened with Volker clearly left an impression, Reinhold would want to try and succeed where he failed in this.

Reinhold is the least qualified to make a reasonable decision here, since he knows what it's like to be at that low point.

The only way Reinhold would do anything else is if somebody convinced him of another option that would still allow him to see her on a regular basis.
>>
>>36967451
You keep implying Reinhold is a real family, too.

Staying involved with the kid's life and making it into a project would be very doable.

>>36967474

>>36967446
I know, but I both trust archelon to filter out /tg/s excessive retardation on this matter and since there's basically nothing to stop us seeing her periodically we still get to have PET LOLI with essentially none of the downsides or unreasonably imposing things on our friends/girlfirend.

>>36967474
what is with these people acting as if we either adopt her or NEVER SEE HER AGAINNNNN

>>36967500
That was included under "mature friends"; I could have made that clearer I suppose. It seems like a pretty likely option, and if Marius is up for it it's probably just about the best solution.
>>
>>36967486
>We haven't even really discussed the issue or decided what exactly Reinhold will do.

I think this is the most important thing everyone seems to be overlooking. We've barely talked with anyone about the loli at all. I'm not even sure if anyone even knows the specific reasons we took her with us. Reinhold hasn't had any internal or external dialogue about long term plans.

We're spending way too much time discussing our options when we don't even know which ones are viable without consulting the other characters, and that's not even getting into what people think we should do.
>>
File: 1363909136930.gif (957 KB, 500x418)

I think we can all agree that Carina is now our responsibility, it's just a matter of how much we can take care of her given our duties. We want her fed/housed/clothed/educated/etc, but can't put in the full time nor effort necessary to properly do so. We're a 17 year old bodyguard whose still in the midst of courtship.

So our options are limited to a) pass her off to Citrine, b) pass her off to Agnes when she comes by, c) some local orphanage or such institution, or d) try to find some position for her within the castle.

The problem with the first three is that Reinhold isn't close by, something that Catrina seems she'll insist upon given her behavior so far. As such, the last option so far seems the most preferable, given that it deals with her living arrangements, gives her something to do/people with whom to interact with, sets up a future, and is in close proximity so we can check up on her on daily basis.

We should talk to Arnauld and Melanie about it when time permits. Right now though, we have a long-lost irresponsible prince and our "little sister" to deal with, the latter of which is probably in the middle of the biggest freak out of her life.
>>
>>36967490
>You keep implying Reinhold is a real family, too.

No, I don't, and I never have. Reinhold personally adopting her is equally retarded. Don't equate me with the people who think Rein having a personal closet loli is a good idea.

She's getting taken in by somebody (99.999% likely to be Citrine, based on the fact that Citrine already stated she was considering it), she is not going to an orphanage, Reinhold is not going to attempt to play one-man family unit. This is not rocket science.
>>
>>36967451
That's why we don't make an orphanage.

We start a foster home. I mean, someone has to, right? For fucks sake, getting lucky for these kids is being raised by someone who won't rent out your ass, literally, to anyone who asks. Little girls dream of the day they get to be whores because it's the only way any of them are getting a roof over their head.

We're not going to start an orphange.. Were going to start the foster care system.
>>
>>36967500
We could ask, but Citrine is just about to have a kid of her own and it wouldn't be fair to just dump the responsibilty of another child on them just like that.
>>
>>36967521
>Reinhold is not going to attempt to play one-man family unit

Really? Because it seems to me that's exactly the kind of Reinhold type thing he would do.
>>
>>36967438
>[4/4]

After giving Nicolette a quick peck on the cheek, Melanie adjusts her glasses and glances at the exit.

"Oh," you hold up a finger, "could you not mention the Salamander attack or Carina to her?" you ask.
"Eh?" Melanie turns to you. "Why not?"
"Because I kind of left that stuff out until after she gets back, and..."
"Oh," she nods. "I understand."
"Thanks," you sigh.
"Though now that you mention it..." Melanie looks down at Carina. "Carina, was it?"
"Uh-huh," Carina nods. "What's your name?"
"I'm Melanie," she says, smiling at the little girl. "Reinhold, would you mind it if I borrowed her for a little bit?"

>>
>>36967519
I think there's a lot of us who are concerned about that, it's just discussing things like this takes longer to type up than a post going ADOPT LOLI NAO LUCI A SHIT LEAVE HER ROUTE.

I am currently hopeful about Marius being on board with Citrine's offer to take her in, that way we keep Carina pretty close by for training into perfect swordie niece to go with our perfect swordiemage sister in law without forcing something pretty major on anyone who isn't ready for it. Citrine is probably the most experienced in dealing with people from that background except us, AND she has the time and less crippling emotional damage, unlike us.
>>
>>36967537

Because it seems very much like you're talking out of your ass.
>>
>>36967587
Possibly, though I'd still feel a bit bad about springing a random orphan on them.

Reinhold and Citrine probably both feel a bit obligated to make this girl's life better after what happened with Volker, but neither is in a great place to do so. The problem is that I can't see either of them being willing to back down from making sure she has a home with someone they know and trust, be it themselves or someone else.
>>
>>36967630
Both those posts aren't mine. It's unreasonable to thrust a child onto people out of nowhere without their input, especially when they have their hands relatively full already.
>>
>>36967602
How do you think people deal with having twins? And Carina is much less work than a baby, remember when she was offering to do dishes in exchange for shelter?
>>
>>36967602
That's Citrine's call, and she said (not Reinhold, not some disembodied voice, not an anon, CITRINE SAID) she was already planning on asking Marius about taking in the kid. Given that Citrine runs the household, I doubt Marius is going to disagree with her.

If she needs help around the house she can always hire a maid. Reinhold could even pay for said maid, along with everything Carina-related, should it become any sort of issue at all.

And let me remind you, so we don't forget, that Citrine was the one who said, out loud, using words, that she was going to talk to her husband about taking in the kid.

"Well I was thinking that Carina here would like to get washed up and clean," Melanie says with a warm smile. "After I get the Princess's clothes, I'll swing by my room and scrub all the dirt off of her and get her into some fresh clothes, then I'll bring her right back to you."

Admittedly, Carina -is- kind of dirty... kind of -really- dirty, in fact. She might not have fleas (a fact for which you are incredibly thankful), she still needs to be bathed and you don't really want to have to do that yourself.

"Thanks for offering," you say to Melanie. "Carina, could you go with my friend for a little while?"
"You're not coming?" Carina looks up at you. "But you just got back, and-"

Well, sorry for being so mad earlier. Just got mad being labeled with the scum of the foster care industry. I have seen them. I have dealt with the broken children they made and got sent our way.

But ya after saying I did it for twelve years and then adopted I think it should be apparent that i'm not a quitter. Also like I said, the check doesn't even cover, after the month's expenses, as much as I spent on diapers alone.

But what I meant that racism is that the kind of thinking that labels one group of people as all one type, with only one defining negative trait is the sort of thinking which is almost identical to racism.

This is still only a matter of hours after she was rescued in a highly dramatic fashion by Reinhold. It's no surprise that right now she doesn't trust not to lose it all if we go away, but that will change pretty quickly.

While I've encountered some really shitty foster parents, I also know some incredible people and kids whose lives have quite literally been saved by them, often from unbelievably abusive homes with their birth parents. While I can understand completely if you've had a terrible experience personally and I know exactly how hertless it can be, please don't just shit on the whole system like that.

Since getting back, you haven't really had an opportunity to speak privately with Luciana... and since she seems to be angry at you right now, it's probably best to talk to her before her mood gets worse. Leaving Nicolette and Sylvie to their own conversation, you make your way over to your lovely girlfriend.

Who seems to be talking to your lovely sister.

"Ah, there you are," Citrine says, slapping you on the shoulder as you approach. "I was just reassuring Princess Luciana here that you're not the type of guy who would just casually decide on things that would affect the rest of your life without consulting your future bride first... isn't that right?"

"Of course," you nod. "That was an emergency, I haven't decided anything yet."
"...so you haven't already adopted her?" Luciana asks.

Yeah, you were right about what she was angry about.

"No," you shake your head. "Everything was just so hectic over there and then she took to me and I couldn't just leave her there in Cateno..." you sigh.
"But she seems pretty convinced that you'll be letting her stay with you," Luciana replies.
"Well yeah," you stammer. "But that's just a temporary thing until I decide what I'm going to be doing... it's not like I've decided to adopt her or anything."

Though you have to admit that the idea of you doing for Carina what Volker tried to do for you and Citrine doesn't sound bad at all. But Volker was single while you're decidedly not, and Citrine has a point about you just up and deciding on things without consulting your future bride...

"Okay..." Luciana mumbles. "I don't want to sound selfish or anything, but I'm just not ready to be a mother yet... I mean, I -do- want to have children with you, but not until we'd been married for a few years, and-" she stops herself midsentence.

For some reason, it's just now struck you how serious your relationship actually is.

"D... don't get me wrong," Luciana throws up her hands, "Carina seems like a sweet girl and I don't dislike her at all!" she says, forcing a smile. "It's just that if you adopt her then I'll become her mother too and I'm not really ready for that..." she mumbles. You can't even believe that Luciana's actually considering... much less that she's being COMPLETELY understanding about this entire thing with Carina. Hell, you were expecting her to chew you out but instead, she actually...

"You just reminded me why I love you," you say to Luciana, smiling warmly.
"Lo-" completely taken by surprise, Luciana tries to repeat "that" word... but you lean in and kiss her before she can.

As you draw back, you see tears welling in her eyes.

"I can't believe that you actually said..." Luciana covers her mouth with her hands.
"Well it's the truth," you reply. "Sorry for taking so long to actually tell you, though..."

Watching fondly, Citrine winks at you as you enjoy this moment with Luciana for a little while longer.

whoever is in charge of social security in your country should give her a medal.

Too afraid to ask anything else, you stand there with Luciana and enjoy each other's company... but then your attention's drawn by the return of a certain maid.

"There's my cue," you say, brushing your hand across Luciana's cheek as you step away from her.

Yup, Melanie sees you and now she's panicking.

Panicking?

"Carina, don't run!" Melanie says, reaching out towards the little girl as she races directly at you. Obviously, her attempt to stop the younger girl is futile.
"Reinhold!"

SLAM

You're hit with Carina's best tackle hug, staggering back a few steps from the sheer force of it. After hugging her back, you let the girl down... and then you notice what she's wearing.

"Uh..." You mumble. "...why are you wearing that?" you ask.
"Melanie gave it to me!" Carina says, holding up the ruffled skirt of her maid outfit ans shaking it too and fro. "It's all frilly and pretty!"
"Yeah, it sure is," you nod.
"Sorry about the clothes," Melanie says, "the uniform I wore when I first started working here is the only thing that I could find on such short notice," she sighs. "I'll be sure to find something more suited for her tomorrow, though."
"You don't have to apologize," you reply, "I'm grateful that you went through the trouble of getting her washed and changed at all."

Really, she's done a lot for you without even being asked to.

"It sure was a lot of trouble," Melanie sighs, "you wouldn't BELIEVE how much dirt was caked on her. And her hair..." she places a hands to her temples, "I'm happy that she didn't have lice or anything but it was still an absolute nightmare to get clean..."

>how do you respond?
>>
>>36968757
Damnit Arch, it's Christmas, and here I am reading PGQ.
This is your fault, turtle!
>>
>>36968822
[X] Rape the maids
>>
>>36968822
"Hey, you're adorable, but unless we make you a maid I'll buy you your own clothes to see my grandmother."
>>
>>36968830
For some reason, that makes me want to see Melanie and Nicolette doing role reversal roleplaying.

Melanie wearing the captain guard uniform and Nicolette wearing a Meido outfit.
>>
>>36968822
>Thank you Melanie, you are a great friend. And you, Carina, look absolutely adorable!

Maybe we should ask Melanie about getting Carina a job/internship at the castle staff?
>>
>>36968822

>I owe you, Melanie.
>>
>>36968822
The scar throws off the whole thing something fierce.
>>
>>36968842
Oh Melanie is gonna handle the spear alright.
>>
>>36968822
>>how do you respond?
I am not really sure. Thank Melanie and tell Carina to be careful to not get the new cloth dirty?
>>
>>36968854
It signifies her destiny as a main character.
>>
>>36968822
"Well, even if it was on short notice, you did a heck of a good job."

Pat the kid on the head and make damn sure Carina remembers to thank Melon. Good habits. Ain't no way we're gonna let the kid we saved become an ingrate.
>>
>>36968822
Something like >>36968836
"Hey, you're adorable, but unless we make you a maid I'll buy you your own clothes."
Turn to Melon.
"Is she a maid? Can she be a maid?"

Work a massive thanks in there somewhere.
>>
>>36968822
>how do you respond?

CUTE. CUTE CUTE CUTE CUTE.

Thank the Melanie, we owe her, getting her clean and clothed on such short notice was impressive.
>>
>>36968866
This is also good.
>>
>>36968822
"Thanks Melanie, I really appreciate it. If you ever need anything, please, just ask."

Give Carina a headpat and ask if she remembered to thank Melanie. Joke about how well the maid outfit suits Carina.

>>36968854
I think her dead eyes and thousand yard stare do more to weird people out than the scar.
>>
>>36968851
>>36968869
No maiding for now. Didn't we just have a talk with Luciana about rushing things?
>>
>>36968859
>>36968842
Don't know whether Nicolette would fall over laughing at the shortest Captain Guard ever or she would be too embarrassed wearing a maid uniform that is way too short.
>>
>>36968875
>dead eyes and thousand yard stare
That's just the malnutrition and stress, she'll perk right up after a few days of real food and not needing to worry about getting stabbed.
>>
>>36968865
That gives me an idea. Instead of setting her up as a maid do you think we could swing things so she ends up as a royal ward (preferably in Granache since people are mean in Marconetti) so she has access to a better education and much better formal swordie training? I think that would be pretty good for her.
>>
>>36968880
Just saying we could ask about it
>>
>>36968883
Also magic can heal the scar.

Though chicks dig scars.
>>
>>36968880
Agreed. It sounded like Luci had the beginnings of a plan and given that she usually has really good ideas I want to hear her out.
>>
>>36968889

>>
>>36968822
Wait, wait. Carina hasn't been introduced to Luci has she
>>
And that's it for this Christmas edition of Princess Guard. I thank everyone who participated in tonight's thread.

I'm not sure when I'll be running next, it might be Thursday night if I'm feeling retarded or it might be Friday. Either way, I'll be switching back to False Dendrite.

And now I take questions.
>>
>>36968906
Thanks for running.
>>
>>36968906
Thanks arch
>>
>>36968906
Thank you for running, happy holidays!
>>
>>36968906
How do you like your new 傑作 Grimlock?
>>
>>36968906
Merry Christmas, you crazy turtle.
>>
>>36968906
Thanks for keeping me up until 5 AM with another great thread
>>
>>36968906
Thanks for running, was a lot of fun. Hope you had a nice christmas overall. Even if it sounds like your highlight was the gifts from anons.
>>
>>36968906
Cheers and merry Christmas.

Does Carina agree that Luciana is the prettiest?

Though she hasn't met Marianne yet...
>>
>>36968842
>Nico makes Melanie wear a blue coat and sword
>>
>>36968906
>>36968842
What would happen if this went down?

Also, how would Marianne and Emilio react to the Karel revelation if we were on the Kare route?
>>
>>36968927
>They both dress up as Rein
>Rein walks in on them
>>
>>36968906
Also is this thread gonna be archive? With suptg beeing down and all?
>>
>>36968906
Can Karel still be Best Man at our wedding?
>>
>>36968940
The foolz archive will at least get it.

>>36968906
Thanks for running, arch. I got bored the other day and archive dived for a lack of anything better to do. This reminded me that it's been a very fun ride- thanks for running PGQ for as long as you have. There's many people that enjoy it, myself included.
>>
>>36968937
>Also, how would Marianne and Emilio react to the Karel revelation if we were on the Karel route?

If they were in a "pretend we're gay" relationship the others'd probably think that the whole stunt was a dick move eh on Reinhold's part. Otherwise they'd probably just feel like complete idiots for not noticing the romance in addition to everything else.
>>
>>36968949

I'm more interested in who will be godmother for our children.
>>
>>36968961
Nico. Not even a question.
>>
>>36968961
Well with six kids the other girls'll have one each.
>>
>>36968906
What's the greatest difference of looks between Marianne and Karel?
>>
>>36968973
hair and clothes. They are supposed to look absurdly similar otherwise.
>>
>>36968973
Karel works out.
>>
>>36968973
>>36968984
I imagine that Karel looks a bit rougher with a sharper face.

Though I wonder how uncanny the ressemblance would get if she let grow her hair.
>>
>>36968960
R:"Uh, Karel and I are going out."
M:"Obviously."
R"And we're not gay."
M:"What?!"
>>
>>36968970
Well it could be Marianne or Karel.
Or Rana if we want a good influence.
Or Arariane.

Probably not Sylvie, that would be just cruel. Although by that time perhaps she'd have gotten over things
>>
>>36968998
>inb4 she adopts her mother's temperament because of the whole thing
>>
>>36968998
>Rana
>Good influence
>>
>>36968994
If I recall, someone asked if they could swap places for a day. Arch replied that Karel would never agree to it and Marianne wouldn't be able to act well enough to fool Emilio at all. I don't recall their appearances being a problem with the plan.
>>
>>36969008

You're right. Rana is not good influence, she's the best influence.
>>
>>36963823
>Merry Christmas Arch. Any chance you could give us the email you used to sign up with steam so I can send you a gift?
I don't really feel comfortable putting that email up on 4chan, but my steam ID is maouzenigame.

>>36968672
>Hope you like that steins:gate set Arch, I'm not a fan of that anime stuff you kids are into nowadays, but even I've heard about it.
It's a great show, thanks!

>>36968914
>How do you like your new 傑作 Grimlock?
Best Transformer. My only gripe is that he comes in robot mode, but the instructions only show how to change him TO robot mode. I had to watch a video on youtube to switch him to his dinosaur form.

>>36968922
>Does Carina agree that Luciana is the prettiest?
She thinks that Nicolette is the prettiest.

>>36968937
>What would happen if this went down?
Lots and lots of blushing.

>Also, how would Marianne and Emilio react to the Karel revelation if we were on the Kare route?
Reinhold would probably take the opportunity of the big reveal to kiss her in front of everyone. It would be awkward for all parties involved.

>>36968940
>Also is this thread gonna be archive? With suptg beeing down and all?
Assuming that suptg gets fixed before this thread gets deleted.
this is what I get for running a thread when the archive is down...

>>36968949
>Can Karel still be Best Man at our wedding?
but that's nicolette's role...

>>36968973
>What's the greatest difference of looks between Marianne and Karel?
Karel has a more boyish face, and a slightly more athletic build.

And now it is time for me to sleep. Thanks for playing, and Merghy Crabmas to all!

I want this so bad.
>>
>>36969029
>She thinks that Nicolette is the prettiest.
Carina confirmed for author avatar
>>
>>36969080
But isn't that Matthias?
>>
>>36969029
>but that's nicolette's role...
Damn straight!
>>
>>36969080
Carina confirmed for good taste.

>>36969087
It's Sir-Not-Appearing-In-This-Quest.

Wasn't able to participate in this thread due to festivities and what not will catch up when I have the time.

Just wanna say Merry Christmas Arch and merry Christmas PGQ.

Damnit suptg.
