You are Shee Hyul, rebel and psychic. Your world is ruled by inhuman creatures and this has gone on far too long, it’s time to fight back.
---
You’re at a club with Ashley, the two of you just spent an hour (or two?) dancing and you’re ready to maybe grab a drink and move onto the next one when you spotted a girl a year or two younger than you with three vampires called Stepan, Gregory and Jans. The three have a reputation for group feeding off of people, Ashley ran into them before and his totally-not-an-asshole buddy Quinn bailed him out.

You’ve lost a lot of blood in the last day or so to feed Lirael, but recent events have toughened you up, you feel up to disrupting a fangbang.

[HP 13/22]

But there’s something about the girl too...

She seems like a rich uphive girl slumming it down here low-hive but just for a moment, a split second you thought you saw another her underneath: an impossibly beautiful young woman with pointed ears. Did you imagine that? Or is she a fae in disguise?

You took some Shine over an hour before you came out just in case you got tempted by proximity to Ashley but it’s worn off right? You shouldn’t be hallucinating.

The three vamps are being nice to the girl, friendly, joking with her, but they’re also leading her to a side door of the club, it’ll probably come out in an alleyway somewhere, nice and deserted, the noise from the club will muffle any screams she can make before they-

Ashley speaking cuts off your train of thought “Should we do something?” he asks you.

“Like what?” you ask him. In the noise of the club you both have to shout to be heard.

“I dunno, tell the bouncers or something?” he says, he looks to you for confirmation that’s a good idea.

“They won’t care what happens once she’s out” you say, why would they? It’s not happening in their club.

Ashley squares his shoulders like he’s prepping for a fight “Someone needs to stop this” he says, and heads for the small group, just as they approach the door.

What do you do?

Regardless of who this girl is, you’re not letting Ash go in there without backup. You follow along.

The group of three vampires and the girl get out of the door, you and Ashley are just behind them. As you get into the alleyway the noise from the club diminishes, though it’s still pretty loud. As you and Ashley catch up to them, you can see one vamp with his arm around the girls shoulders saying something about another party they’re headed to. The two other vamps are behind her.

“Oh?” says the girl in a definite up-hive accent “Where is it?”

“It’s right *here*” laughs one of the vamps following her, as he says the last word he grabs both her wrists and pulls them behind her back, stopping her in her tracks. The other two vamps press close to her, grinning.

“I don’t follow” she says, sounding calm “Where’s the party?”

You’re in a narrow alleyway, it’s maybe wide enough for two people to fight side-by-side and you don’t have any weapons. The alley is filthy, littered with rubbish and smells faintly of vomit.

“Oh the party’s just about to start” says one of the vamps, leering at the girl, and then suddenly grabbing her head and pushing it back to expose her neck, his mouth opening wide, fangs showing.

None of them appear to have noticed you yet. At your side, Ashley keeps going, saying just loud enough for you to hear “Those assholes.” He draws a breath, ready to yell at the vamps.

What do you do?

Do we need to have the 5XP for a new power ready to use the activation chamber? or can we us the chamber, and then spend the 5Xp at the earliest opportunity?
>>
>>37083520
Chamber activation of powers costs no XP.

“Hey assholes!” you yell, the trio of vampires turn to look at you and Ashley approaching. “Leave her alone” growls Ash, his hands forming into fists.

“Get lost” sneers one of the vampires “No one invited you.”

“And yet we’re here anyway” you say as you and Ashley approach. Two of the vampires step up to face you and Ashley as the third vampire hangs back, still holding the girl by her wrists. All of them have turned to face you.

“You’re not doing this!” says Ashley angrily, pointing a finger in one vamps face “Remember what happened last time Stepan.”

“Last time the cops saved you and your boyfriend Quinn from a beating” scoff the vampire Ashley is yelling at. The other vampire facing you looks you up and down, whistling appreciatively, saying “Always room for one more at the party girl.”

“Yeah?” says Ashley “Because they way I remember it you were crawling away leaving a bloody trail behind you, ready to do it again?”

“Quinns not here this time Ashy-boy” says Stepan “and you’re outnumbered.” The two of them are chest to chest, their voices low and threatening. Geez boys, one of you throw a punch or just start kissing already. You try to watch the confrontation and the relaxed vamp in front of you.

You can see the girl and the vampire holding her wrists, he’s watching what’s going on, and so is she, she doesn’t look scared.

The vamp in front of you, Gregory (or is it Jans?) gives you a wink and what he might think is a seductive look “Whadya say gorgeous?”

4 more minutes for vote, currently seeing a tie between hit and charm.
>>
>>37083907
Because we'd be walking into the group of vamps?

As it is, at least one of them will be busy holding the girl, so it's 2v2. Not exactly favorable odds, but a decent chance.

If we get close to the other girl, we'd have at least one vampire at our back and be separated from Ash. Flanking bonuses are a bitch.

Don't say "Oh, we'll teleport out" because we've been warned that using our powers in a hive is a stupid idea, doubly so when there's a fae *right there*.
>>
>>37083948
Except the guy will still be busy holding the girl in either case.
We just have to be careful to not let them flank us, problem solved.
And its not 2v2. Its 3v2 maybe 3 depending on how the fae feels about helping us.
Those are shitty odds.
>>
>>37083948
>we'd have at least one vampire at our back
No, we don't, because we won't let him be in our back, its just a matter of positioning.
Also, we are 3meters apart, thats basically nothing.
>>
Ok, final destination in 5 minutes.

>>
>>37083978
>He'll still be holding the girl
>Not retaliating for punching him in the damn face
He has at least a chance of not interfering immediately as it is.

And they'll start off with flanking bonuses if we walk into the middle of them, which we have to do to get near the girl.

They're shitty odds, but I don't see why you're determined to make them worse. What is your endgame here?

>>37083988
Yes, it is, too bad we're maneuvering ourselves right into a situation where we're surrounded on both sides, isn't it?
>>
>>37084021
>if we walk into the middle of them, which we have to do to get near the girl
Or we just, you know, go besides the guy with the girl. So we have all three in front of us.
You know, doing something that makes sense.
>>
>>37084021
>too bad we're maneuvering ourselves right into a situation where we're surrounded on both sides, isn't it?
Do you have a reading problem?
>because we won't let him be in our back, its just a matter of positioning
We just position oursevles so, that they won't be in our back., We don't have to stand in front of the girl to get close to her.
>>
>>37084084
>>37084099
Two of the vamps are significantly closer to us than the one holding the girl. To get near her, we'll have to go in the middle of their group, and I don't think they'll let us just walk past them and out of their group like that. One of them will probably grab us if we try that.
>>
>>37084116
>we'll have to go in the middle of their group
No, no we don't have to.

>, and I don't think they'll let us just walk past them
The idea is to walk over to the guy holding the girl, pretty obviously, in which case we aren't in the middle of the group. We are next to the guy holding her, facing the other two.
So, when a fight does break out, its us next to the girl, and they have to come frontal to us. And if the guy that currently threatens us comes after us, Ashley can shove his guy right into his back.
>>
>>37084169
You are aware that the guys not holding the girl are currently closer to us and aren't going to suddenly go behind the one holding the girl, right?
>>
As Ashley and Stepan continue to get macho with one another you give the other vampire an encouraging smile and say “I do like to party, especially if there’s a chance at a bite.”

As bad as your line is, he seems to fall for it, putting his arm around you and drawing you away from Ash and Stepan “I’m Jans” he says “So you like a bite huh?”

“Alice” you say, using the same false name you used before “And sure, it’s been a while, but you never forget what it’s like, you know?”

Indeed, your words are truer than you know, Jans is smiling at you and showing his fangs as you carefully measure the distance to Gregory and the girl. Maybe it’s the situation, maybe it was spending the last few hours close to Ash but you can feel a familiar desire rising, you recall the pleasure of fangs sinking into your flesh, the electric feeling racing through you. You quickly push it down, thankfully its not as intense as it can be, you don’t know if its the Shine you took earlier, or just than Jans doesn’t do it for you. He seems attractive, but then you remember what he and his buddies came here to do.

C’mon, closer, closer...almost there...Dammit! Jans has stopped you just out of reach of Gregory and the girl, if you could just get a little closer you’d have a chance to hit him and let her go free.

Gregory and the girl are watching the Stepan/Ash confrontation and aren’t paying much attention to you. Jans however is, he puts both hands on you and pulls you in close to him, trying to kiss you, you can smell alcohol on his breath.
>>
You could go with it and whilst Jans is distracted try and manoeuvre the two of you closer to Gregory and the girl, neither one is watching you and you’d likely have a free shot at Gregory, but this close if Jans tries to bite you, you’d have little chance of avoiding it.

You could pull away now and try to hit Gregory, but he might have time to see you coming, and Jans is right there.

You could wait to see what Ashley and the girl do, whilst fending Jans off playfully. Or you could do something else.

You pretend to be as drunk as Jans is, fending him off without threatening him, turning your head at the last moment so he kisses your ear, then listing unsteadily to one side as he tries again, then trying to distract him by asking him questions. C’mon girl, or Ash, do *something* before you run out of tricks.

You hear the sound of a fist hitting something hard from behind you, thank you Ash, finally. You turn to look, Ashley and Stepan are trading fast though untrained blows, neither getting the advantage, until Ash reels back from a particularly hard blow, Stepan grabs Ash and throws him headfirst into the wall, you wince slightly at that, still Ash is a vampire he’ll be alri- there he’s up!

Climbing groggily to his feet Ash is grabbed from behind by Stepan, who tries to slam Ashs face into the wall, Ash braces himself on the wall and kicks backwards, hard. His foot connects with Stepans knee and you see it bend backwards as Stepan gives a howl of pain, good one Ash!

However, you focused too much on the fight and forgot about Jans for a moment, you feel his hands on your body and you try to pull away but are too late. He grabs you firmly and tries to bite your neck, you manage to get your face in the way of his instead and it turns into a kiss instead, he slobbers a little on your chin. Yuck....

Jans is totally focused on you, you’re not sure how Ash is faring, though Stepan is yelling and swearing a lot, so hopefully Ash is winning. Gregory is watching the Ash/Stepan brawl and wincing, and the girl has her eyes forwards, watching the Ash/Stepan fight and most definitely not sneaking the occasional glance at you and Jans, her pale cheeks have spots of red on them...
>>
Not exactly what you’d planned, but both Jans and Gregory are distracted, and you’ve not been bitten yet. You could easily knock Jans down from this position and you’ve probably got a good chance of hitting Gregory before he even realises what’s going on.

Or, hopefully Ashley will deal with Stephan soon and the two of you can fight Jans and Gregory together. Of course if you spend any more quality time with Jans and his roving hands you will need one long shower until you feel truly clean, plus he already tried to bite you once, if he tries again you might not be so lucky.

Does Lirael need to visit the facility too for new psychic abilities?

Lirael's Telepathy might be a racial power due to being a living vampire rather than a true psychic, so the pods might not do anything.

I also don't really want to put anyone other than ourselves into the pod until we know more about the facility and how it works. It's possible the pods kill anyone that isn't a whatever-we-are.

Psychic powers and vampire powers are listed speratley, if anything it might be a racial power of a Graced, rather than a vampire.

Adding a question to vampire powers though, I'm not clear on how the purchase of them works.
Liraels degrees in them aren't listed anywhere, except for the default for living vampires being mentioned, and I can't find the Xp cost for raising degrees.

You break the kiss with Jans, taking a deep breath, ah fresh air, finally...

“Hey” you say in a slurred, drunken voice “Is your buddy ok?” you look over at Stepan and Ash. Stepan is down on the floor and Ashley has a firm grip on Stepans injured leg and seems to be trying to twist it off. Ouch! Vampire or no Stepan is definitely feeling that, yelling threats at Ash in between bellows of pain.

Jans looks over too and swears loudly, letting go of you and rushing to Stepans rescue, hitting Ash hard and tackling him over.

Gregory calls out encouragement as you sidle up to him and the girl, unnoticed by him at least.

She says to you “Is it always like this in the low-hive?” Gregory is still holding her wrists, but loosely.

You wind up and hit him as hard as you can in the throat, what might kill a human might just be enough to slow a vampire down.

Gregory stumbles sideways, letting go of the girl and grabbing the alley wall, coughing and choking.

“Thanks” she says, rubbing her wrists absent-mindedly, still watching the fight between Ash and Jans.

Ash and Jans are rolling around on the floor punching and kicking at each other, for now Ash is holding his own, but Stepan is crawling over, looking to get involved, injured or not he’ll probably tip the fight against Ash.

You grab the girl by the shoulder “This might all look like fun and games to you up-hiver” you say a little harshly “but these guys were gonna bleed you dry and they probably still will if you don’t get out of herrrghhhh-” Your voice ends in a strangled noise as she turns to you and gives you her full attention.
>>
What stands before you isn’t just a girl, but a vision of perfect beauty. A goddess with golden hair, a face that would make artists weep and beg to be allowed to paint her portrait. Those blue eyes, you could drown in those perfect blue eyes, those red lips, so alluring, so kissable. She wears the cheap clothing she has as though they were the perfectly tailored for her, hugging every curve, exploiting every asset she has, from those small perfectly formed breasts to those shapely long legs and her rounded hips. You feel skinny and ugly and, and nothing next to her.

You simply stare at her in awe, whatever she wants, you will eagerly offer her. If she wanted to make you her slave you’d jump at the chance, if she asked for your heart you’d rip it from your chest, if she asked your secrets you’d tell her every single one.

In your head a tiny voice screams at you that this isn’t real, what you’re feeling is magic, or a fae illusion, it keeps yelling at you to wake up.

You are vaguely aware of Gregory recovering, taking deep breaths and then looking at the two of you, he looks angry at you, at you both. Of course he’s angry with you, you hit him, but how can he possibly be angry at the goddess, the vision of perfection in front of you? Unless, maybe he wants to take her away from you, no, anything but that!

so is anyone else curious about what happens when we punch a living vampire with our locket?
>>
Gregory cannot be allowed to lay hands upon her, the one who matters most above all else! You charge at him, punching him hard in the nose, you feel a satisfying crunch as it breaks and he bellows in surprise.

He swings wildly at you, his eyes almost closed tight against the pain, you easily duck under his wild swings and hammer his jaw with several blows, he stumbles back groggily and you grab his shirt and swing him around, copying Stepans move and smashing Gregory face-first into the wall. Gregory slumps down and laws still, twitching slightly.

Still, the fight has cleared your head a little, and the damp wetness on your arm tells you it has opened your wound again.

The girl is watching you curiously, you feel an almost irresistible urge to kneel before her and beg her for instruction, to give you an opportunity to please her. Almost irresistible.

Though you feel very wobbly your knees haven’t bent yet.

“What...what are you doing?” you force out the words between gritted teeth, fighting with every scrap of your willpower not to give her a title like *Highest* or *Goddess*...or *Beloved*.

The girl blushes and puts a hand to her mouth “I’m so sorry” she says “I forget sometimes.”

Suddenly it’s gone, you could cry with relief, it’s all gone, well, mostly. The girl in front of you still seems to be a perfect vision of beauty but you no longer feel the need to worship at her feet and you can think clearly once more. For now she is perfectly desirable to you, and that’s all.

“I’m Kae” she says “Thank you for dealing with him” she motions to the unconscious Gregory “Who are you?”

Also I have a feeling this girl may be super important.

Because she is part of the ruling class, and having an insider there is really useful for our psychic rebell activities.

“I’m Shee” you say to her “nice to meet you, excuse me one moment” you add as you turn and race towards Ash.

“Lovely to meet you too” you hear behind you.

Ash isn’t faring very well, Stepan has grabbed his legs and Jans is sitting atop him throwing punch after punch into Ashs face, Ash is defending himself as best he can, but won’t last forever.

You grab Jans from behind and lock his arm up, using your hold to pull him off Ash. Jans struggles, throwing you around and battering you against the alley walls.

[HP 10/22]

Finally Ashley comes to help you and the two of you pin Jans down.

“You’re outnumbered” you say to him, you point out a groaning Stepan lying on the floor, and a similarly beaten Gregory “I suggest you take your friends and get out of here.”

“She-uh I mean shouldn’t we call the cops?” says Ashley, almost saying your real name.

“Fuck you and both your blood whores!” yells Jans “Gonna find you Ashy, gonna drain you fucking dry!”

“Shut up!” you tell Jans, punctuating your words with a kick.

But what are you going to do about Jans and his friends?

“So uh Kae” you call over to the vision of perfection, the manifestation of your earthly desires, no brain stop that! You call over to the girl “If we called the cops, that’s not going to cause you any trouble, right?”

Kae wanders over, her every movement graceful and charming, you can’t help but watch the way her hips sway as she glides up to you, smooth as silk, dammit mind! You really need...something, anything to distract you from her, and soon, you’re feeling a very strong desire, and not for blood or drugs.

“I’m afraid” she says in that word perfect up-hive accent “That I would have to depart in a hurry if the constabulary were called.”

“Oh” you say eloquently, looking across at Ashley, and then down at the struggling Jans “Well if we let him go, he might not just take his friends with him and leave peacefully, so that puts us in a bit of a bind.”

Kae giggles at that “You have such a peculiar way of seeing things” she says “you are a very curious girl, very well, if I ensure that he takes his companions and departs peacefully, how about you show me how people around here have fun for the rest of the evening?”

“Ah” says Ashley “How are you going to do that? You’re not going to curse them or anything are you?”

“Oh no” says Kae “He’ll leave willingly, I’m sure.”

Jans objects to that statement, loudly and obscenely, with anatomically impossible suggestions for you, Ashley, and Kae.

“I’m sorry” says Kae “I didn’t understand that” she looks at you “could you translate that please Lady Shee?”

You sure you wanna translate that for her?

“Well” you say to Kae “What he said was that you and I should get a tool better used for cleaning industrial pipes and then...”

“Oh” says Kae, her cheeks flushing red in embarrassment “I see.”

“And then” you say “He told Ash that he should find a dog and...”

“Oh yes” says Kae faintly, her hands pressed to her glowing cheeks “I get the picture, yes, thank you.”

“And finally” you say “That I should-”

“That’s quite enough” says Kae “Thank you for translating Lady Shee, I get the point, he’s been exceptionally crude.”

“It’s just Shee” you say, holding Jans down with Ash “I’m no Lady.”

“Very well, L...Shee” says Kae “Do we have an accord?”

You look at Ash, he shrugs, you look at Kae, her perfect face, her delicate lips pursed, her soft and smooth skin, no, no you are in control dammit, you’ve fought off worse needs than this. “Deal” you say “But not all night, I need to be back home in a while.”

“Excellent” says Kae with a brilliant smile “Let him go.”

“Are you sure?” you ask her.

“Quite Sure” she says.

“Ok...” you and Ash let Jans up, as he struggles to his feet he spits at you but misses and then tries to slap Kae.

Quicker than you can follow her arm is there, blocking the blow “Rude” she says “Now take your friends and go.”

He launches a swift blow to her face and then jerks his hand back, yelling in pain, his forearm is covered in blood as if he’s been clawed by a three-toed animal, with large claws. You hardly even saw Kae move, and her hands don’t appear to have claws.

Kae looks bored “I can do this all night” she says to Jans “But I’d rather be on my way, as you should be.”

He charges her, her hands whip out and he’s diverted into the nearest wall, sliding down it swearing.

“Really” says Kae “you are quite stupid.”

“Alright” says Jan “I give, enough.” He staggers upright and stumbles over to Gregory, pulling him up slowly and then heading towards Stepan, seems they won’t be any more trouble, for now at least.

“I think a club sounds good” you say “not this one though, another one.”

A short time later the three of you are in another club with loud pounding music clearing your head of any other thoughts, you’re thankfully free of any desire to lay Kae down and- hnn. The walk here was difficult, fortunately Kae kept asking questions about everything she saw.

As you and Ash find a spot on the club dance floor and start to get into the flow of the music, Kae stands near you, watching the way you both move, and trying to copy you, without much success.

“Is this what people around here do for fun?” she asks

“You don’t like to dance?” Ash asks her

“Oh I do!” says Kae “I’ve been taught by the best tutors in ballet, classical and neo-classical dance.”

You snort a little at that “Wow classical *and* neo-classical” you say, trying not to sound like you’re teasing her “But not this?”

“Oh no” she says “I’m afraid I don’t know the steps to this dance, but I’m sure I’ll pick it up.”

Are you going to teach her how to really dance?

“There’s no steps” you say loud enough for her to hear you “you’ve just got to lose yourself in the music, feel it, don’t think. Here” you say “Do what I do.” You show her, throwing yourself into the rhythm, letting the music enter you via your ears and leave your body through your moves, grateful that you can get away from your worries, your addictions, your rebellion, if only for a little while.

You body continues to move as your mind drifts, you find yourself singing along, as Kae and Ash dance with you.

“It’s a Jungle here, so what have you to fear...”

The three of you move with the music and with each other, a moment of perfect understanding as rational thought spills away and you just feel.

You force your mind back into focus to see how Kae is doing, and that when you see it.

Around you the entire club appears to have been transformed into a jungle, or at least pictures you’ve seen of places called *jungles*: Tall trees, vines everywhere, small simian animals swinging through them, a cloudy stream runs through the floor as strange animal noises sound.

You see everyone around you oblivious to their surroundings, one girl is even dancing with some sort of snake wrapped around her body.

Nearby you see Kae and Ash dancing, one either side of you, Kae’s eyes are closed and she seems peaceful, happy.

Are you really seeing this? What do you do about the club turning into a jungle?

“Kae” you say, she ignores you “Kae!” you try a little louder. Finally you grab her head and yell, your mouth an inch from her ear “KAE!”

“Shee?” she says, turning to you with a questioning smile. You gesture around the club “I’ve been coming here a while” you say “never seen any of that before.

Kae’s face loses its cheerful look “oh” she says “That’s not supposed to, I mean, how did it get so bad?”

“It’s amazing!” you say “What is it?”

Beside the two of you, Ash dances on, oblivious to the monkey perched on his shoulder, grooming his hair.

“It’s a reflection of Oneira” she says “Bought into the real world.”

“I have no idea what that means” you say “But it sounds like a magical realm.”

“It is!” Kae agrees “But I shouldn’t be doing this, it can be dangerous.”

“Ah ok” you say “Maybe you can do it again some other time?”

“Indeed” says Kae and then stares around the club, a look of concentration on her face, all around you the jungle slowly fades into the background, as if it was never there.

“Sorry about that” says Kae, her hands clasped together she adds “And thank you for not getting upset, if I can ever repay you, please just ask” She takes your hands in her own, they’re so soft and gently and warm and you never want her to stop touching you, no, you’re in control, though your breathing has sped up a little.

Ash looks over and notices the two of you talking “What’s up?” he asks. You gently take your hands out of Kaes and tell him about the jungle.

“That’s amazing” says Ash “But will anyone else have noticed?”

“Perhaps” admits Kae “If they’re magically talented, or have mystical senses.”

There’s a pause

“I think we should find another club” says Ash.

“I agree” you say, the two of you hustle Kae out of the club.
>>
The three of you get out of the doors and look around the street, suddenly you hear a voice yell “Ash! You said you were studying, glad to see you changed your mind! It’s mad out tonight, fucking police everywhere!”

“Quinn” says Ash with a grimace.

You look over, its Quinn and a couple of his buddies. They head over to you, Quinn heads straight for Ash and the two guys hang back and give Kae such hungry looks that you don’t know if you should be offended that they’re ignoring you, or if you should be protective of Kae.

She seems oblivious to this and greet them both, its Volf and Betram. Kae shakes their hands and doesn’t seem to notice the leers they give her, those fucking assholes how dare they leer at *your*...uh...new friend Kae...

Your internal struggle distracts you for a moment and when you look over at Quinn and Ash Quinn has Ashs head gripped tightly in his hands, Ashs face close to his. Ok asshole, that’s one step too far! Then you hear what Quinn is saying.

“Ash, Ash, who did this to you.” He’s turning Ashs head this way and tht, examining Ashs faded bruises.

“Stepan and his buddies” says Ash “but we saw them off.”

“We?” says Quinn, before taking another look at you and Kae, before dismissing Kae and focusing on you. He lets go of Ash and puts his arm over your shoulder, pulling you in close “Angela right?”

“Alice” you say, Kae don’t hear this, please don’t say anything. Fortunately Kae is chatting to the other two vamps.

“Well Alice” says Quinn in a friendly tone “I’ve gotta thank you for looking after little Ashley here.”

Ashley glares at Quinn.

“And by way of thank you” says Quinn “We’re gonna look after you for the rest of tonight, buy your entrance fees to any club you want, buy you any drinks, the works.”
>>
“Thanks, but no thanks” you say, pulling away from him, he reaches out and grabs your arm.

“Its fine” you say, gently but firmly pulling your arm out of Quinns grasp “It’s already closed” You continue “That was the last stop for tonight, we’re going home.”

Kae overhears you and heads over, Volf and Betram in tow “Oh really Shee” she says “That’s a shame, we must get together some time.” She hugs you “It’s been a wonderful time.”

“Shee” says Quinn slowly, “Shee...Hyul?”

Shit.

Everything seems to be in such perfect focus. Quinns suspicious look turning into one of understanding, and then glee, Ashs grimace, Volf and Betram start to grin, Kae looks from face-to-face, trying to figure out what’s going on.

The noise of the crowd outside the club seems to fade away, you see a car with flashing lights at the end of the road, huh Quinn wasn’t kidding the police are out in force tonight.

“Ash has told me so much about you” says Quinn, a predatory smile on his face, he hasn’t moved an inch but suddenly your pulse has sped up and you feel adrenaline flooding into you, your whole body in fight-or-flight mode.

“I’ve so wanted to meet you” says Quinn “to get a...taste...of what Ash was on about.”

You have a feeling this isn’t going to end well. Ash comes up to one side of you, supporting you, Volf and Betram back up Quinn, Kae just looks confused. The crowd around you doesn’t seem to notice the impending confrontation.

What’s the plan?

>Quinn, we’re leaving (leave)
>Threaten him, you’ve already beaten some vamps tonight
>Lets discuss this away from a crowd (go somewhere else for this showdown)

“Nice to see you again Quinn” you say, your tone leaving no doubt that’s a lie “But we’re going, We’ve gotta see this young lady home.” You turn to Kae-

You’re violently jerked away from Kae and back towards Quinn, who has a painfully tight grip on your arm, he jerks you close to him and his other arm snakes around your waist, holding you tightly against him.

“No you’re not” he says, with a lazy, confident smile “You’re coming with me.” He’s speaking to you, but he’s not looking at you, he’s looking at Ash. Ashs face is twisted in anger and he starts forward but is blocked by Volf and Betram.

Quinn brings your wounded arm up to his face, as much as you struggle you can’t break his grip he’s too damned strong.

“Fuck you Quinn!” you say as you try to pull away.

“Maybe Later” he says “First...” he’s not taken his eyes off Ashley, who is held between Volf and Betram. Kae gives Quinn a glare and steps forward.

A voice cuts the air “Police, nobody move, this is a routine search.”
Everyone pauses and looks around, there’s a dozen police officers standing at the edge of the crowd, They’re grabbing people and making them stand in front of a man dressed in rags with a thick chain around his neck, he keeps shaking his head and mumbling something, and then the police let the person they’ve grabbed go, and putting another in from of him. The chained man has long grey hair.

Kae gasps “He’s not supposed to be here, no no no no!” and she disappears into the crowd, heading away from the police.

Quinn shrugs “I dunno why they dug up that old fossil.” He says “But I won’t let that spoil the mood.”

He forces your resisting arm closer to his mouth, and opens wide to bite you.

You struggle as much as you can, trying to get away or just throw Quinn off balance.

“Mmm, yes” says Quinn “Keep doing that.” He breathes in deep as your wound splits open and starts to ooze blood again.

Behind you you hear Ash yell “Quinn let her fucking g-gllrk!”

“Calm down Ashey” says one of the other vamps “You know how it goes, Quinn has his fun first.”

As hard as you twist, kick, hit at Quinn and otherwise try to get away, it has no effect, dammit.

As Quinn is closing his mouth on your wrist you throw back your head and scream as loud as you can “HELP, POLICE, HELP!”

Now the crowd is looking at you, and parting around your group, as two police officers head quickly in your direction, they make quite an odd pair.

One is a very tall woman, easily six feet in height, she is wearing a long coat, has broad shoulders and comes right up to you and Quinn “Miss is this guy bothering you?” She looms over you both, close enough to touch. She’s not drawn a weapon, but her badge is visible on her belt. She’s got brown hair and looks to be late 20’s, maybe.

“She’s my feeder” explains Quinn “Perfectly legal.” He lowers your arm from his mouth “Just having a little fun, nothing to get excited about.”
>>
The other cop is a short wide guy wearing an armoured jacket who clanks a little when he waddles forward. He’s balding and it’s hard to tell his age, could be anywhere from 20 to 40. You see him out of your peripheral vision, talking to Volf and Betram “Let him go boys, looks like you’re choking him.” He has a friendly, chatty voice, which doesn’t change when he draws two massive pistols and points them at something out of your field of vision, adding “I did ask nicely boys, now you can let him go, or you can make my day, hell, it’ll make my fucking year. Now I know what you’re thinking, a pair of fangboys like you are just gonna rise from the grave yeah? Well I got two words for you: Exploding Rounds. You wanna rise from the grave with no heads boys? No? That’s good, let him go, nice and slow.”

“Miss” says the tall lady again “I’m Police Sergeant Sara Yonsul, is this vampire bothering you?”

“Yes” you say clearly, as Quinn grimaces “He was going to bite me.”

“Ok” says Sergeant Yonsul to Quinn “Let her go.”

The two of them glare at each other for a moment before Quinn releases you “Fine” he says “Plenty of other nights.”

“Excuse me?” says Sergeant Yonsul “You want to repeat that threat young man? I was going to let you off with a warning because you hadn’t yet bit the young lady but did I just hear you threaten her?”

“Fuck you, bitch!” Quinn yells at Sergeant Yonsul, poking her in the chest “Do you know who my father is? He’ll have your fucking badge you fat whor-”

Quinn cuts off as she grabs him, trips him and pins him to the floor.

“You’re under arrest for assaulting a police officer” says the Sergeant as she starts to read him a short list of rights “You do not have to say anything in your defence however if you do not voluntarily give up all information pertaining to your crime of which you are accused a court-appointed mage may be asked to read your mind. You have the right to legal representation unless the arresting officer or the court is in possession of a writ of a noble fae removing this right from you; I am required to inform you that I do not have such a writ, yet. If you cannot afford a legal representative, then no one important cares.”

She slaps one cuff of a set of thick handcuffs on one of Quinns wrists, he stretches his other arm out away from his body and resists when she tries to pull it back to affix the other cuff onto it. With a grunt of effort she slowly bends his arm and pulls it back towards his body, finishing handcuffing him, damn for a human she is strong.

She pulls Quinn to his feet as her partner watches Volf and Betram, guns still drawn.

“C’mon Zasky” she says “lets go.”
>>
Her rotund partner moves over to her side as she takes hold of Quinns cuffs with one hand, with her other she reaches inside her jacket, you feel a tense moment but she draws out a small paper card with her name, rank and station address on it, as well as a comm code “Use this if he comes after you again” she says. Quinn is silently fuming, having enough brains not to keep fighting at this point. Volf and Betram hang back, looking to Quinn for their cues. Ashley moves up to your side, rubbing his neck.

Zasky and Yonsul turn to go.

“Thank you sergeant” you say to her “really, thank you.”

Sergeant Yonsul puts her hand on your shoulder “I’m here to help” she says softly “but you really should pick your boyfriends more carefully, some of these vamps” her voice hardens on that word “Won’t take *no* for an answer.” This close you can feel her breath on your face as she leans down to talk to you.

“He is not my *boyfriend*” you say “at all.”

“Oh” says the sergeant, then pauses and adds “good girl, most men are pigs anyway, now lets get you home to your girlfriend.”

Wait that’s not what you were- oh nevermind.

“What’s the search all about?” you ask the tall sergeant.

“I can’t say completely” she says “but that guy” she points at the guy on a chain “Is one of the Soulless, he’ll block out all magic near him, and we’re after someone who may be using a magical disguise, you haven’t see any strange fae around recently have you?”

Blocks out all magic, wait...you were saving your teleport as a back-up plan in case Quinn bit you. Your hear tspeeds up and you feel your face go pale, this close to him, would your power have failed you? Were you truly at his mercy?

Sergeant Yonsul looks at you, searchingly “It’s ok” she says “If she threa- I mean, if the one we’re searching for threatened you, the best thing you can do is tell me” her voice lowers “I can’t promise you anything except I’d do everything I can to protect you. “What’s going on?” you ask the sergeant as she bundles a grumbling Quinn into the car and shuts the door.

“I need to ask you some questions” she says quietly “I need to know what you’ve learned, what you know.”

“About what?” you say

“About her” says sergeant Yonsul “About” she lowers her voice “her, the Heir.”

“The who?” you ask in confusion.

Zasky gets in the car, sergeant Yonsul puts you in the back with Quinn, a partition separating the two of you, and then she gets in the front and drives.

Quinn can’t get to you, but he can talk to you.

“And then I’m going to have Betram fuck you whilst Ash watches, then Simon, then Steve, then Simon again” he says, continuing in the same vein he’s been on, telling you all the ways he’s going to hurt you and Ash, for the last half hour. You’ve been ignoring him.

The car pulls over, you’re somewhere low-hive, close to a gate out you think, but you’re not sure.

“Where the fuck are we?” asks Quinn “Where’s the fucking police station?”

Sergeant Yonsul gets out and lets you out of the car, Zasky stays behind, as does Quinn. Yup definitely somewhere low hive, somewhere even a Duster doesn’t want to be this late at night. The Segeant leads you away from the car and around a corner, grabbing you by the arm and pulling you roughly around the corner before letting go and saying “Sorry about that, but I need that vamp to believe we’re...anyway, about this fae girl, I need to know everything you know.”

“I guess, maybe” you say, you truly don’t know.

“Did she tell you her name?” asks the sergeant

“Just K” you say “which could be short for anything.”

“Yeah” says sergeant Yonsul, sounding excited “Like Kaelyn, as in Kaelyn Reaper.”

“Reaper?” you say “like the Kings headsman?”

“Yeah” says the sergeant “Look, the Hive Governor is being inspected, I dunno, politics or something. So Lord Reapers daughter comes here, now she’s a big deal: She has the authority to do any damn thing she wants, the only ones who can overrule her are far away, but” she adds “her own father will overrule her if she does something crazy, and she has her own restrictions, especially concerning her personal safety, so when she went missing the whole force got mobilised to go find her because the Governor doesn’t want her finding out shit, so she has to be tracked at all times, because if she finds out the wrong thing, she can order his death.”

Uh, wow.

“Of course” says the sergeant “She could upset a whole lot of other stuff as well, so I need to know what she’s doing.”

“How are you going to do that?” you ask

Sergeant Yonsul is quiet for almost a minute and then says “ok, this is how this is going to work: If she ever contacts you again, you get as close to her as you can, best friend, dreamfeeder, whatever she wants from you, that’s what you are. You get as close to her as you can and you get every secret she’s got, every lead she’s investigating and you tell me, understand?”

“I understand” you say “but-”

“But nothing” says the sergeant “If we don’t know what she’s going to do, a lot of good people could die, will you do it?”

Will you?

I have zero intention of going through with this, unless she actually does something warranting that kind of betrayal.
But as I see it, we have no real reason to not say yes.
>>
>>37090940
>Y
I have no intention on informing on her, I think we should get close to her for our own benefit. Fuck the nice police officer, if we can get her on our side we can turn this whole thing upside fucking down.

Like I have a choice really?
> y

We have no choice since we mentioned her earlier.

These high level political things will get us squashed like an ant for no real reason.

Everything can go right and we could still get vaporized by some on pure accident

Yeah. Kinda wish we could have just done more rebel stuff and stayed away from the hives.
>>
>>37091018
That's probably not a valid write-in.
>>
>>37091182
That's up to Pally to decide. It was more meant as an outside expression than an inner feeling, btw.
>>
“Do I have a choice?” you ask.

“Sure” she says “You can do this for me, or I can take you down to the station and have a Gifted who owes me some favours look inside your head, maybe plant some impulses there for you.”

“I guess I’m doing it then” you say.

“Alright” says Sergeant Yonsul “I’m really sorry to force you, and I’m sorry about the next bit.” She pauses then adds with a grin “Lemme rephrase that, I’m sorry for any embarrassment the next bit causes you, but as I said, I gotta maintain a cover story, first, here” she gives you a card, like your day pass but all it has is a serial number on it and a comm code that looks like sergeant Yonsuls.

“This will get you in and out of the Hive” she explains “any time of day or night, the standard procedure of the guards is that if they question the pass, they’ve gotta call me, but” she adds Gifted, fae and vamps probably won’t, so don’t think it’s a badge or gives you immunity. Now” she hooks two fingers into the neck of your clothes and pulls hard, ripping it, then she pulls at your clothes in places, generally making you look dishevelled.

“What *are* you doing?” you ask indignantly.

“Cover story” she explains, before dragging you roughly back to the car, whistling, a spring in her step.

Zasky has his window wound down and claps mockingly as the two of you walk up “Any good sergeant?” he asks

“Her tonguework needs a little practise” says the sergeant “but she bucks and squeals beautifully once you get her going.”

As you untangle the implications of that, Sergeant Yonsul presses your back up against the car, pinning you there, one arm around your waist and the other holding your head she kisses you, a long lingering kiss and she presses her body up against your, her tongue eagerly exploring your mouth. Before you get over your shock enough to decide what to do she pulls back and points you towards the Hive wall, you think there’s a gate this way.

We are somewhat route locked onto this for the time being if she approaches us again. Only way to avoid it would be to stay away from the area.

Currently survival trumps almost everything else. No save scumming in quests.

I wonder if we will be stuck with some sort of tracker that could compromise stuff too.
>>
“Go on” she says, giving your rear a hard slap “There’s a gate that way, tell them you got lost, or invent a sob story, they should let you out.”

“You’re letting her go?” asks Zasky.

“Oh she earned it” says the sergeant smugly “earned a release and then some.”

You see Quinn glaring at you from the car, as you walk free.

I'm quite pleased Pally. That was hilarious.

Good night Pally, thanks for running.
And Happy New Year.

Best cover story, ever.

Thanks for running Pally.

Great thread pally! Also I really like this officer.
>>
Sargeant best waifu.

But didn't she already give her card to Shee?
>>
>>37091258
>You see Quinn glaring at you from the car, as you walk free.
Ohhh, Ashley is going to hear about this.

But that card is amazingly useful, I guess it might have been worth feeling slightly violated for a while.

Between the officer, Kae and Lirael, it seems Shee attracts the agressive type.
>>
>>37091420
That was a different kind of card, this is a actual security card. The other one just had her contact data.
>>
So, I assume we wait with spending XP for Lirael until we get a write-up on how her vampire powers work?
>>
>>37091708
We could pick up some stat boosts or general feats/skills, but yeah, it'd be for the best to wait until we can see all the options.
