What is JAMQ: XCOM meets the Jedi Order. Take the role of a Jedi leading a new Jedi Temple during the time of the Old Republic. Part RPG Quest, Part Civ management Quest.

Last thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/37058558/

Twitter: @JedayyMaster

You are Jedi Academy Master Akiva, in the time of The Old Republic Jedi Grand Master Zym has tasked you with starting a new Jedi Temple should something horrible happen to the Jedi on Coruscant. You are a Jedi Consular with experience as a diplomat who wields two sabers (one green, one yellow).

Last time you decided to found your temple on Enarc III, a turbulent planet of extremes in the Enarc system. You also spoke with Jedi Master Aldretch who helped you assign your personnel, resulting in a group of Unconventional Support Operatives (read: Scum). You also picked what Jedi you would bring with you, resulting in twenty younglings you are yet to meet and three Jedi Knights;

>Vash Niramar, a Corellian Jedi Sentinel known who his laid back nature and saber skills. He brings a young Kel Dor Padawan called Eskol with him.
>Kiandra Neros, a young Mirialan Jedi Sage with a kind termperment who enjoys biology. She brings a Service Corp explorer named Lucius Garnik with her.
>Tax Zess, a scarred Mon Cal Jedi Guardian who with a brutal temperment. She disaproves of Vash and believes that the Jedi Order needs true strength to win the war. She brings a poorly Mon Cal Padawan named Rogmi Mollek with her.

well im still awake. Even read your last thread on a whim tonight, so im good to go.
We've got 20 odd preteens, a heretical knight who can have kids, an old serious type knight, and a queen Bitch angler fishlady, and two padawans. (Can the academy master claim a padawan?)

You are in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant having just finished speaking with Tax Zess in regards to the mission to Enarc. The day begins to draw towards midday but the Chai you had with Kiandra and the excitement of the mission has you energetic.
A small pale and red MSE droid skitters expectantly about you feet waiting for your next directions.

>Return to one of the Jedi's quarters. You have more questions. (If so, who?)
>See Tooma Vodher, the supply co-ordinator and organise your construction supplies and other resources.
>See Major Serat, the Naval attache and organise what ship(s) will be making up the new temples hangar.

Let's get this ball rolling.

I just giggled super hard at that summary. +1 to you good sir.

And yes the Academy Master can. The position is still largely theoretical so has few guidelines until you make them.

Meet the major first, its a poor idea to load up on materials without knowing our space.

The"unconventional" help might add some space too, smugglers still haul honest freight at times. Though did our knights have any ships themselves?
>>
>>37098951
Your knights did not have any ships unfortunately.

Vash did, but the council took it away from him. :(
>>
>>37098918
Well we could A: try to pick out a good padawan/goffer assistant here at the temple
or B: wait until one of our students shows promise and taken them directly.

I'd say try to sort someone out now, they'd learn well and could teach a little through example
>>
>>37098898
>See Tooma Vodher, the supply co-ordinator and organise your construction supplies and other resources.

Also what is the expectation of the quest? Xcom meets jedi order doesn't help me much. Are we more into politics and management, or dumbing it down to a jedi master with dozens of jedi to worry about between combat?

“Tooma Vodher please.” You announce to the droid, which whirs happily and shoots off in the direction of the turbolifts. A longer than normal ride upwards takes you to the surface of the temple where an unseasonably warm sun beats down on the duracrete surface and marble walkways. You are led down the the main promenades before heading towards the service landing bays wehere supplies and heavy craft are docked.

Cutting through service corridors and access ways leads you to the main landing bays. Overflowing the flight controllers, spacers and ground crew the landing bays are probably the most lively area in the relatively empty temple. The MSE leads you through throngs of engineers and heavy shuttles towards a squat set of offices and observation towers.

In a smaller hangar overflowing with crates and lifting droids, the MSE bumps into a Utai woman clad in welders gear before whirring happily again. The words “Tooma Vodher Found” scroll across it's back. The Utai spins around, flicks up a welding mask and gives the MSE a soft kick.

{Stupid Droid. Malfunction all time. Tooma fix fix. New cortex} She barks squeakily in Huttese. The MSE droid scoots of fearfully to escape the Utai and find a recarge point.

The Utai, known as shorts on their home of Utapau for their short statures and short lifespans looks up at you energetically, her eyestalks perked.

{You Jedi-settler. You here to see Toomas supplies-yes?} She claps her hands and brings you over to a small steel desk surrounded by crates. You smile at her energy.

{What you want see first? Build-Builds? Use-things? Or Jedi-Magic?} She babbles at you, losing her grammar in the excitement. She rummages through various dataslates that litter the table among mechanical supplies.

Thats largely up to you. I have envisioned a quest with lots of management 'aspects' as you organize building the temple, running the schooling of the Jedi and the issues that come up.

But at the same time danger will strike, you will be asked to send your Jedi on operations for all manner of sources. You can choose to give your Jedi advice on these missions or even take a hands on eye-in-the-sky type approach to them.

But as you can see, there is lots of space for Roleplay. Its really up to how you guys play it in regards to how much that continues but people seem to like it.

Does that help?

So basically, if you follow merc's quest, idol master style management where we take the role of a commander, and just tell the squad what to do?

That sounds like it'll work pretty well, but I do hope that we get to do things as ourselves.
>>
>>37099211
Clears things up, thanks
>>
>>37099254
We would probably be delegating more compared to idol quest. After all we do have decent knights that we can trust.

>>
>>37099301
We also have a radical brand knight that takes wives and fathers children in their order. Have to be careful about that.
> and maybe a pedophile
>>
>>37099301
Is there any form of reward for successful missions? In the way of experience for those sent, or credit donations (to circumvent that Jedi don't charge for their service to the public) which we can use to upgrade the temple, something like that as a carrot for management if we don't directly engage in the action.

“Construction supplies please Tooma. Lets see what you can build.” You say as you lean back in the chair. The Utai's energy is contagious but you decide to just let it roll over you and stay calm and casual.

{Much good-good.} Squaks Tooma as she finds the correct dataslate. Her eyestalks furrow and glare at the readout, apparently not liking the information.

{Bad information. Army take many building units. Make big bases. Still have some prefab modules though. Make small temple for bad planet yes?} She explains as she passes the slate over to you, information scrawling all over.

>Small Buildings (Pick five. Can have multiples)
-Masters Quarters. (Houses a single Jedi Master and any hangers-on)
-Knights Quarters (Houses Two Jedi Knights and hangers-on)
-Initates Quarters (Houses five initiates in a simple setting.)

-Meditation Chamber (Sealed chamber for reflection)
-Guest Quarters. (Houses five guests in simple luxury.)
-Meeting Room (Contains a large table, holoviewers for planning and discussion)
-Comms Room (Facilitates long-range communication without need for a starship.)
-Small clinic. (Treats a single individual for wounds and sickness.)
-Brig (Holds three individuals imprisoned)
-Armoury (Stores weapons and ordnance)
-Common room (A simple room for leisure)

>Medium Buildings (Pick three, can have multiples.)

-Firing Range (Trains in use of blasters.)
-Lecture hall (Trains in academia)
-Sparring Hall (Trains in saber use)
-Banquet Hall (Allows for the hosting of senate-tier opulance)
-Droid bay. (Maintainence area and storage for up to twenty standard droids.)

-Large Garage (Maintenance and storage for large vehicles)
-Manufacturing Plant (A plant capable of crafting basic constructions and tools)
-Jedi Library (A standard repository of Jedi Knowledge)
-Shield Generator (A generator capable of protecting the temple)

Feel free to suggest other building ideas as well.

-Youngling Dorm (Houses ten younglings in bunk beds.) X2
-Small clinic. (Treats a single individual for wounds and sickness.)
-Comms Room (Facilitates long-range communication without need for a starship.)

We can do without quarters for now. The rest come first, and we need to keep communications at all times.

-Small library (A minor repository of Jedi Knowldege.)
-Sparring Hall (Trains in saber use)
-Service Hall (Houses ten assistants as well as cleaning, cooking and minor repair facilities)

Seems like basic necessity for the temple as a school and a self sufficient base in the middle of nowhere.

-Hangar (Maintenance and storage for one medium starship or three small starships.)

Need that ship space

She eyes up the lifting droids walking about the storage hangar.
{Build-droid do good. Can't say certain how good. Have to see. Jedi be rough until then} She smiles a toothless smile.

Go summer camp style on the bunks / "halls" and bring along more of the high tech shit like a droid bay vs service hall or a comms room vs a clinic.

>>37099805
Feasible? Have everyone rough it out outside or in a ship rotating bunks for a while till we get our little village set up?
>>
>>37099661
I'll second this, but replace the meeting room with another Youngling dorm.

You mark a few options for loading into your non-existent ship or atleast securing them for your purposes so that no Army officers get their grubby hands on them leaving your temple without toilets or somesuch. You have chosen a number of buildings that will ensure the temple is self-sufficient. Living space is tight however, only ten younglings will have beds whereas the rest of you will have to wait for dormitories, sleeping on the ship or camping out until they are built.

You enquire after constructing buildings out of local supplies and Tooma assures you that you will be able to, but these durasteel prefabs will be your most durable buildings, most likely to withstand Enarc III's harsh weather and climate.

Tooma places the dataslate down carefully before eyeing off two other options.

“Jedi Supplies, Tooma. Need to ensure we deal with these important items.” You declare as Tooma hands you the glowing green dataslate with supply quantities and weights all over. She leans back and further examines you building choice, allocating lift droids to move the prefab modules.

By the looks of things, your basic Jedi supplies have been allocated. Enough saber crystals and parts to arm thirty Jedi, as well as ten training sabers. Holo files and datapads containing teachings on Jedi history, theory and philosophy as well, not much but enough for a vague education in the order. It seems that your students will practical experience. You are also given robes, ceremonial items and such for graduation and induction of new students.

It appears you still have some space available and some supplies unassigned within storage. What do you wish to add to your specialized items:

>Advanced Lightsaber tools. Offering additional crystals and hilts for another thirty sabers as well as non standard options such as short sabers, two handed sabers and double sabers.
>Additional Teachings, something to fill your library including deeper histories and teachings as well as force techniques.
>Republic Military Clearances. Offering Jedi combat uniforms used by many Jedi on the warfront and up-to-date military clearances and codes.
>Sacred Holocron, containing the teachings of an ancient Jedi master, as sacred holocron is a great honour not to be taken lightly.
>Leave the space for additional rudimentary supplies.

Holocron seems like the only thing we wouldn't be able to get fairly easily for ourselves when we get to the planet. Besides the security codes I guess, but we're not on the front lines and any jobs probably will give em to us.

Quietly you slide your finger across the dataslate, indicating that you wish to have HOLOCRON 623 – STARGAZER loaded with the other supplies. A simple and unnassming action as if you were loading Dewbacks into a freighter. But you just took one the temples most sacred items, a surprising honor, even to a master such as yourself.

You hand the slate back across to Tooma who excitedly takes it. Her excitement dies down when she notices your selection but she says nothing. She places it with the construction dataslate before quietly handing you the last readout. It details food, ordnance, fuel and the like.

{This is simple use-things. Tools and like. We still have room. What you want more of?}

You examine the list as well as the supplies still in storage before deciding the requisition additional;

>Weapons, better arm up these scum you've hired and perhaps giving the younger jedi the option to stay out of any fights.
>Medical supplies, Enarc seems like a dangerous place, someone might get hurt.

You mark out some additional scanners, trackers and other electronic gadgets to assist with the temple and exploration of the planet. Already you can see a few blue-marked crates being handled by the lifter droids behind Tooma as they make your supplies ready for loading. Tooma takes the dataslate from you and nods approvingly as she examines your choices.

{Good good. Your temple supplies picked. Big droids mark and move for you. Be ready for your ship when you have it.}

With a whir and a beep your MSE droid returns and parks up next to your chair ready to escort you to your next engagement with all the gusto it can muster in its tiny wheels. Tooma glares at it for a moment before appearing to remember something.

You tell the MSE droid to follow you as you make your way across the busy landing bad to the small spacers lounge. The lounge is a spot where freelance pilots who happen to be ferrying people or supplies to the temple can wait in slight comfort while their ships are offloaded and prepared for launch again.

You enter the small lounge and find it largely empty aside from a few worn chairs, a view screen displaying local information of weather, traffic and news, a small fridge for storing food and a rodian woman in a yellow and black pilots jumpsuit. She has a huge mane of pink hair out the back of her head and a scoped blaster pistol strapped to her waist. She turns to face you as you enter.

“You must be Master Akiva. Huh, guess I was expecting someone taller and more... masterly.” She starts with a chuckle, crossing her arms.

“Not particularly, figured I'd just make introduction. I'm Caja Sixx, I run the crew of spacers that your Master Bantha-brain hired to run with you on the mission, among other folks. Not that we've been told a whole bunch.” Caja explains.

She points behind with a swing of her thumb as she sits down, apparently not caring for respect of your position. “If got a crew of ten guys out back getting some chow, they'll fly anything you need 'em to and can probably point a blaster without blowing off their own gija's. Although I'm not sure why you'd need us for whatever you've got planned, you Jedi tend to keep to your own.”

Lulz mostly.

“What other folks do you mean? I only knew we were hiring some additional help, not who it is.” You explain to Caja as you lean against the door frame casually. Caja grunts and fingers at ther blaster pistol as she begins to talk.

“These been a Bounty Hunter floating around with a little crew by the name a Duke. A quarren brute with a lucky reputation. He doesn't have nearly as many guys as I do but he's looking to make it up with guns and hard attitude. Apparently he was CC'd in on the job like I was with the instructions to do what you ask and we'll get paid in nice, safe credits.”

She looks out the window as a human sticks his head in the back door.

“We're all ready to suit up boss.” He meekly informs Caja, eyeing off you and your sabers. Caja grunts and the human leaves. She stands and brushes off her jumpsuit.

“Well I better jet, got some loose ends to tie up before we leave. Let me know what we're flying and where it is. We'll get you to Enarc Jedi.” She explains before giving you a quick two-finger salute and heading out the back door.

You step out of the Spacer lounge and ask the MSE droid to take you to see Major Serat. The droid bumps into a spare refuling hose before leading you to the nearest turbolift. With Starships organised you're fairly sure that you'll be able to head off at your leisure, although you're not sure if that should wait until after the life day celebrations are over, or if it's best to get underway sooner.

The droid leads you to the turbolift and takes you down a few levels and heads northwards towards to the Orders own hangars. Here the craft used by the order are maintained and rearmed for various operations. As you arrive the droid quickly drags you over the where a Bothan man garbed in republic naval uniform is shouting at a group of technicians.

“YOU CANT FIND IT?! NO WONDER THIS TRANSFER IS TAKING THIS LONG? YOU'RE ALL DIRT BRAINS!” He shouts as the technicians flee, noticing your approach.

“Fantastic and now the job requiring the most paperwork arrives. Just my luck.” He exclaims. “Yes yes yes, I'm Major Serat, you're Master Akiva it's an honor and ecetera, can we just get this done so I can undertake the galaxy wide paper trail this will craft?”

“Should I come back later?” You enquire thoughtfully, however you wish you could call out the Major on his childishness, the diplomat experience you have says that would be a poor choice of words, especially for a naval officer.

“No. No.” He sighs. “Let's just get this done so I don't accidently transfer out a ship and doom the entire Jedi Order.” He mutters defeatedly as he begins to march quietly down the access corridor that provides entry and viewing to the variety of private hangars, some of which are large enough to house half a frigate!

“My information here shows that your transporting roughly forty-five individuals, some heavy droid and plenty of supplies. In addition to that you've got quite a number of prefab construction modules.” He elaborates, largely to himself as he walks. You put yourself in pace with him and examine his datapad in his hands.

“Well I've got four ships to offer you ranging from fighters to freighters. Just tell me which one you wish to examine first and we'll get underway.”

He hands you a dataslate with some models, ships names and redouts of various craft.

“Let's see that Dynamic-Class first Major, nice and unassuming.” You inform the Bothan. He nods and leads you into a medium sized hangar. The 'Master of Deception' is a standard form Dynamic-class freighter enjoyed by a select few captain, painted blue and gold it is currently being serviced by an army of small mechanic droids while some techs organise the whole affair.

“Dynamic-class freighter, callsign “Master of Deception”, recovered from Taris post bombardment and returned to Coruscant for heavy repairs. Outfitted with with a single cargo bay with the other repurposed as passenger transport. Two twin turrets top and bottom and two win heavy lasers. Crew of four with a possible passenger capacity of sixteen, twenty if you don't mind sleeping close, thirty if you're not fond of air.” Declares the Major.

He eyes it up and down before continuing. “A bit small for your compliment, quite a few of your passengers will have to come later and theres no way it can carry your construction prefabs. But it's fast with that Class 3 drive, unassuming and not poorly armed.”

aster-knows what reason and now I have to work out what to do with it.” Serat explains as he leads you into the next hangar along.

The Quartermaster-Class is twice as long as the Dynamic and about as wide. Originally painted a camoflage green and brown, it appears that the spider like painting droids that crawl over it's hull are returning it to it's factory gunmetal grey. The ship has no weapons you can see and barely fits the hangar.

“Quartermaster-class, callsign 'Brave The Elements.' Originally an adventure touring transport for the mid rim, utilizes an expanded passenger bay at the cost of half it's cargo. Crew compliment of two with a passnger compliment of fifty. 60 metric tonnes of storage space should hold your supplies and about three of your small prefabs. No armament at all though but despite her size she's as fast as the 'Master of Deception' past lightspeed. It wont make the same sharp turns at sublight though.”

“Mind if I have a look inside?” You ask. The Major grunts and waves you in, opting to instead stay outside where he can catch up on the repairs on repainting.

The inside of the 'Brave the Elements' is quite dirty. Mud and dust of a dozens of worlds clogs the corners and all manner of animal trophies and fake plants line the halls in an attempt to provide some sort of safari-environment. However the cockpit seems in good working order, although you were never much of a pilot.

The retrofit passenger bay is simpyly half the massive cargo hold that makes up the back and belly of the ship. Three stories tall it is made of simple, cramped double bunks with a communal bathroom, a simple almost prison-esque canteen makes up the bottom floor with a small leisure space with worn couches.

The rear section is a single large cavernous hold complete with a pair of lifter droids that appear to be doing nothing aside from lifting a single box each and pacing about. You get the impression they've been here for a while and mark in your mind that you may with to replace them.

Part of me thinks we should take the Dynamic-class and bring the mission-critical personnel/gear first and get things settled before everyone else (read: younglings) show up. We're not going to be able to move everything at once, anyway, so why put up the younglings in a half-assed temple that, for the record, doesn't even have proper dorms? We kinda need lodging for a harsh planet like this.

>Have a look at the light Corvette.
>>

>>
>>37101678
I like that ship but it can't even hold the construction prefabs. We'll still need a larger ship. Quartermaster + fighters might be preferable, but that depends on the corvette

Multiple trips are possible, as is organising one off transport for individuals. It's likely the rest of your prefabs will be coming by heavy transport once you arrive.

You saunter back over to the Major casually as he scowls at the ship and the hangar and thr droids and whatever else draws his currently considerable ire. He raises a brow questioningly as you approach.

“Does it meet your specifications?” He asks. You nod but shrug as well. “Yes, but I'd like to see a few more options. You said you had a Defender-Class?” The major grumbles and shows you into the hangar a few doors down.

Painted with a security white and blue alternating theme, the Defender-Class looks quite powerful. Thicker than the Dynamic with elongated engines and frame that makes it slightly shorter that the Quartermaster, two pairs of heavy lazers jut out from the bow.

“Defender-Class Light Corvette, designation “Warden 1” used as a prototype for Temple Security now going into full manufacture for the Jedi Order. Class 3 hyperdrive, two dual laser cannons, dual missile tubes, comms dish and full sensor array. Crew compliment of five and give passengers, perhaps up to fifteen if people sleep in shifts, maybe twenty if people sleep in the halls. Minimal cargo space, probably only the personal effects of those on board.” Clarifies the Major.

“The best looking ship of the bunch in my opinion. Good guns and specifications. Fast and dangerous, if you don't take it I'm giving it to SpecOps, they don't mind the lack of cargo space. Not a unassuming ship like the Dynamic thought, these are new and Jedi only.”

> “Is there much to see inside?”
So this is to pick out the ship that we're going to have with us at the Academy, as well as determining what buildings and resources we will have immediately available?

The Defender is able to fight as nimbly as a starfighter while packing enough punch to take down capital ships. It can also function as a mobile command base, and has its own medbay.
>>
>>37101749
> “Let's see those starfighters.”
Given the opportunity, this would be our flagship Jedi craft and our master's personal craft. As much as I want it, he did say this is a Jedi-exclusive ship, so it's not exactly subtle.
>>
>>37101801
Thats the short of it yes. Its the ship you'll have access to at the start for all your shenanigans as well as determining what you'll be able to bring with you.
>>
>>37101801
The choices, I believe, mean our temple's private ship and what cargo we'll carry with us on the first month or soish.
>>
>>37101801
>>37101813
In that case, I'm thinking we take the Defender and bring our three Jedi Knights (and entourage) with us. We can camp out comfortably in our ship and start learning the lay of the land before the big stuff and younglings all arrive. Not the smoothest start, but the first steps will lay a strong foundation. We don't want to go into this half-cocked.
>>
>>37101865
Also, the Defender comes with a communications suite; we didn't get a Comm Building, so having the Defender would let us get news and call for help.

Also, the Defender is likely to be the hardest to get in the future.
We can more easily get a freighter or freight carrier than we can an anti-capital-ship corvette that handles like a fighter and can operate as a mobile command post.

The Defender sure is a BIG ship for its class. You assume, again never was one for piloting. You recall that there were some star fighters available and ask to see them. Methodically the Major leads you back to a small hangar where four L-shaped starfighters are landed, using large landing struts that jutt out from the back of the craft to keep them upright.

“Four S-250 Chela-Class starfighters. We normally give them to picket leaders when they run patrol or fleet action since they're a big heavier than the Aurek-class. Plus they're still up for debate if we're actually going to BUY more of them. But regardless they've got class 2 drives, twin laser cannons and concussion missile launchers.” Explains the Major as he pats one of the ships with an appreciative hand.

“They'll get you and your knights to the planet. Not much else though.”

You make your way back to the Defender while bringing up your personal holocom, you call Kianda, Vash and Tax, requesting their presence down in Hangar five. They all reply in the affirmative although Kiandra notes she will be slightly late, she offers no explanation. You arrive at the hangar and true to the Majors word the blastdoor shudders open quickly.

The Hangar is empty aside from the MSE droid and yourself. The MSE promptly finds a recharge point and settles in until you need it. You notice the Hangar controls that would access painting, parts requisition and official business like naming but instead you decide to tour the ship, marching up the deployed access ramp.

The Defender is an excellent with interior style reminiscent of the Jedi Temple. Plenty of places to sit and discuss with double sealed doors to ensure quiet for meditation. You do notice that the interior of the ship has one considerable alteration from it's time with the temple guard, the medical bay has been removed and replaced with three prisoner transport cells. You're fairly sure it could be replaced but you're not sure how long it would take.

Eventually Tax and Vash arrive, Vash has bought Eskol with him but Tax's Padawan is not in sight. You lead them into the central meeting room of the ship. Eskol begins to wander the halls of the ship and Vash seems to pay her no mind. You notice Tax glaring disapprovingly at Vash but you assume that is her normal state of mind.

Might I make a suggestion for the future? Considering the nature of this new academy, I think it would be wise to have it set up so that any supplies coming in don't come directly the the base itself.

What I think would work best is that ships and cargo all end up at a separate landing pad/warehouse connected to underground highspeed rail/some other transport to ship to our actual base.

Obviously people will have /some/ idea of where we are but thats unavoidable. At least this way we get a bit more security.

Let's talk what roles they think they would best be suited for at the new temple.
>>
>>37102195
>>kill the conversation before someone gets hurt.
/Try/ to respect each other, we will be living together, working together and training together. This mission will ensure the survival of our order should something go wrong and cooperation among the seniority is a must. We will be in a very remote place on and very harsh planet and should we come under attack we will all need to work as a single unit. Understood?

>> Maybe a little harsh? Then again, it is important to be recognized as a leader and not a push over.

The potential future of the Jedi Order is on the line. Let's not let pettiness ruin this.

Vash needs to be put in his place, though.

Vash nods with a smile but he does seem to be a bit taken aback by the sudden seniority. Tax nods purposefully.

“Now, both of you are quite adept combatants if the rumors are correct. Tax you've seen more combat than any of us and people keep warning me about your use with a Saber Vash.” They both nod. It occurs to you you're only going to need one saber teacher and both are equally viable. Tax has experience and skill but appears quite intense. Vash has skill and reputation but is quite happy-go-lucky and there is the issue of being a Corellian Jedi and the affect that might have on the children.

However, having a combat Knight available for missions is quite a good thing, not that they wouldn't be able to replace one another if it came to that, but the kids would like stability.

She knows what combat truly is. They can switch out if we need her on a mission. Theres nothing more valuable in a combat teacher than experience.
>>

Tax will work as Saber Master. She can instill discipline in the younglings (though she'll need our softer touch once in a while). Vash, given his temperament, is better suited for more conventional missions.

“Tax, you shall be our Saber master. I trust you will instill dedication and intensity into our students.” You announce as Kiandra makes her way into the room.

“Thankyou master, they will be the finest Jedi with a blade the order has seen in a millenia.” Tax announces proudly. She grins and leans back with a satisfied look on her face.

“Vash you will remain operational in case we need things done or if wider exploration is required.” You console the Corellian. He nods and shrugs. “Whatever you need, I'm your man.”

You introduce the other knights to Kiandra and spend the remainder of the day dealing with housekeeping and becoming accustomed to each other. You begin to see the foundations of your temple taking shape and are ready to depart.

>You are now friends with Tax Zess

That's all for today guys, I'll probably run a thread late tomorrow night. So not as early as this one was but going later. As before I'll archive the thread, be active on twitter and be around for a while to chat about the quest and offer rulings. So feel free to stick around and spitball some massive plans or hopes for the temple.

Thanks a bunch for playing. May the force be with you.
>>
>>37102329
Thanks for the thread
>>
>>37102329
Thanks for running. Heres to hoping that via the training provided by Tax, we end up with the next generation of special forces Jedi, yeah baby yeah. I can imagine it now, our academy becomes renowned within the order for the high caliber of students we produce.

Its excellent, talk about scaring the shit out of the younglings on their first day of sabre practice.

Just noticed that bit, also scary as fuck.

So what were your expectations with equipment and personnel? Did we basically pick what you thought we would or throw you for a loop?
>>
>>37102389
It was pretty overwhelming in support of Tax. So you'll have you heretical Corellian for missions.
>>
>>37102364
How exactly is the management system going to work?
3 available missions this 'turn', staff them all sparsely or just two for higher result? And what rewards would there be?

I'm trying to imagine either xcom but I think Assassin's Creed brotherhood's system fits more.
>>
I think we should build atop a cave system, if we can find one. It'd allow for relatively cheap and easy expansion and increased protection and concealability.

Personnel I was surprised by the Spacers, figured people would want soldiers but I guess I misplaced the need for lulz.

I was expecting a pure list for jedi, was ready for all knights all the time.

Ship was a crapshoot, had no idea which way you would bend.

Stuff..... I was expecting better lightsabers but its hard to ignore the Holocron.
>>
>>37102422
Can never ignore a holocron, that was an immediate winning choice. Yeah I was surprised by the Spacers but oh well.

So will missions in the future allow us to find other rare items (ok more holocrons)? And do you intend to use a dice system at all or just rollplay etc?
>>
>>37102415
We should probably build where we can place the 90 meters long ship in a dense forested planet.
>>
>>37102411
Missions will be presented to you with the level of hands-on ness being up to you guys on a mission by mission basis. So figure it as assassins creed with the option to go full xcom

I liked the underwater base idea that anon suggested... although I'm not sure how feasible that will be.
>>
>>37102468
That seems much harder to pull off. I doubt we could even use any of our prefabs in it's construction.
>>
>>37102476
Yeah I was thinking that, maybe something in the future. Or not, caves and shit will work fine I imagine.
>>
>>37102476
Prefabs are pretty durable, but I doubt they'll have hallways to connect them without the need for constant swimming.

Right then, caught up. I'm surprised at the high profile choice of ship, but considering our lack of prefab Knight Quarters, temporarily living in the Warden 1 is a good idea.

You think we can setup giant hologram-camouglage projectors? All this heavy construction is bound to raise attention, but we can at least make it hard for them to find us.
>>
Not a bad idea but it's a big build. Might have to get that ball rolling but that's still experimental tech

The planet we're on is uncharted, unexplored and dangerous with wild atmospheric storms and large and dense forests to cover us from any satellites or passing ships. It's why we chose it. I think we're as good as we're gonna get. Should just not make a pit stop at the developed planet next door.

Wouldn't mind a shield generator in the future though.
>>
>>37102815
I was thinking to have them setup after the prefabs arrive and we start building stuff on-site. At the very least, the construction materials should be kept hidden from looters or wild animals.

....do we even have the terraforming tools to flatten land and such?

>>37102854
I brought it up because building stuff usually involves clearing out forests. Also, if the canopy is too low, the temple will stick out. Then there's the problem that landing spots might be easily identified.

But I guess we only really have to worry about natives who lack aerial support, and fences and shields will be enough to keep them out.
>>
>>37102895
Maybe we could dig into a mountainside? Might help as an extra layer of defense, and not terribly costly or slow
>>
>>37102950
I wonder how effective lightsabers are at digging

>Hey, you guys missed a spot in the corner here.
>I got it, *BZZZHHHOOM*
>>
>>37102983
Could just chill and explore while the bot drills. If you've seen any of the creative lightsaber designs since the teaser's debut maybe can imagine some professional lightsaber digger. Then we can just glue in the marble on the silky smooth walls.
>>
>>37102983
Lightshovel.

>>37102895
The planet was said to have extremely tall but thin trees.
>>
>>37100905
Wasn't awake for this but my thought was that it'd give us contacts into the sector's criminal underworld. That way, if anyone was coming to fuck our day up *COUGH*SITH*COUGH we'd get a bit of a warning about it, since they'd likely try to smuggle themselves onto the planet.
>>
>>37103565
>since they'd likely try to smuggle themselves onto the planet.
Why would they smuggle, when they have an entire Empire to pull spy-ships and stealth probes from?
>>
>>37104199
They don't have to come in with a large force. It'd be easy enough for a single sith to sneak onto the planet and break everything once there, if they're a decent enough Sith to pull it off. Saves resources.
>>
>>37104199
One Master with a well trained apprentice could slaughter most of the younglings, especially if they sneak attack.
>>
>>37104254
>>37104272
That's just it; they don't need to use unreliable criminals and smugglers when they can use Imperial spy-ships and probe droids.
>>
>>37104370
Still our smuggler friend shave a grapevine to listen too, extra ears never hurt. We're also pretty far away and those assets are extremely valuable, they might not use them as the risk of losing a precious ship is more dangerous than losing a sith or siths trying to prove themselves.
>>
>>37104370
>>37104403
In addition to that, if any bandits or large spacer groups think it might be a good idea to shake down a few Jedi for 'Protection Money' we can figure out pretty quick who it is and where they live.
>>
>>37104403
>Still our smuggler friend shave a grapevine to listen too
That requires them going out and spending credits to keep their contacts fresh. So either they're going back and forth from our Academy, creating more ship traffic, or they're away from the Academy, and not providing perimeter defense or services (such as providing training in the less Jedi skillset such as improvised explosives and blaster use).
>>
>>37104475
We could have a few ears out in the nearby trade hubs, and have the rest remain at the Academy for their services.
>>
>>37104475
They're going to have to buy food supplies anyways, not to mention other things when we get bigger.
>>
>>37104199
>Sith
>an entire Empire
>in the Old Republic Era

Am I missing something, or are people metagame planning for what will happen when Darth Sidious steps up his game and actually reveals that there are Sith out there? Because I thought we were "Decline of the Republic" era where the Jedi are overconfident and oblivious.
>>
>>37104597
We're in a middle of a galactic war I believe
>>
>>37104597
>Because I thought we were "Decline of the Republic" era where the Jedi are overconfident and oblivious.
No, we're in the Old Republic Era with the Great Galactic War going on.
The first thread makes mention of the war against the Sith Empire, and even Tax was talking about it in this very thread.
>>
>>37104597
Darth Sidi is .. 5000 years from now I think? Or was it 25,000

Anyway. We're in the Old Republic. There's a war between the republic and the sith empire with no clear winner. The jedi master of the order on Coruscant fears for the safety of the grand temple and so here we are planning a new one.
>>
>>37104597
>Tax Zess, a scarred Mon Cal Jedi Guardian who with a brutal temperment. She disaproves of Vash and believes that the Jedi Order needs true strength to win the war
>We're heading straight down main space lanes, far from the front of the war
>The Empires been hitting us all over the place.

The on-going war with the Empire has been mentioned several times by characters in this thread, so it's far from meta-knowledge.
Not to mention where we were point-blank asked to comment on the war in the last thread, and were given an overview of the current galactic situation and how the fighting is going on at the front lines, as well as the overall strategic situation in regards to the Republic and the Empire.
>>
>>37104670
>>37104636
OH! Oh, herpaderp, that makes more sense. Sith Empire, not Galactic Empire; Great Galactic War, not Galactic War; Classical Ancient Republic, not Old Republic.
