"So, Is that one 'Yuuki'?" Cody says, leaning against one of the castle's interior walls.
"Aye."
"The one being yelled at by the girl half her size?"
"Aye."

You are Jack Albator, handsome adventurer, gallant explorer, tour-guide of Biscotti. Right now, you're showing a new face in town to some of the more permanent fixtures of the community. Like the fully-adult hero who is being scolded by a bunny girl half of her age, and the child hero who isn't allowed outside of her room after dark.

It's kind of strange being the only responsible adult.

The bunny-princess keeps yelling at Yuuki about something. You can't really tell and you're not really in the mood to listen. Cody, the new guy, is staring at the spectacle with the strangest shocked look you've ever seen.

"So, that's yer hero. The floppy eared one is her summoner."

With that, he's met every hero at the castle except for Louise. Who is the tiny hero currently grounded in her room.
Now that you've helped him, of course you expect him to help in return.

"Now that's outta the way, yer gonna help me find Camille."
"Yeah. Yeah. Sure." He chomps down on a cigarette he's taken from his pocket, "Fox girl, brown hair, terrible alcoholic. "

He last saw her when he got to town a few days ago, the same night Louise had her little Axe incident that caused countless amounts property damage. That's also the last night that you saw her, just as she was heading to bed for the night.

Your concentration is broken by the angry chastising from Anna, the bunny princess. She's turned her attention to the guards who were tasked with guarding her door, and is giving them an earful.

>Now's your chance, drag Yuuki away from here while Anna isn't paying attention!
>Leave them be, Yuuki is already in enough trouble.
>Introduce Cody to her! What could possibly go wrong?
>Nah, time to check out the rest of the castle. You need to make sure everything is in order.
>Nope, to town, to look for Camille.

You can see that the rabbit princess is distracted at the moment. Clearly, if she had any idea that you were standing here, she would have already come over and started complaining at you.
You can recognize an opportunity when you see one. At least an opportunity to get someone on your side who might be able to back you up just in case Cody here isn't the gentleman he claims to be.

Carefully, as to not attract Anna's attention, you slink over to Yuuki. She notices your approach and tries to shoo you away, but stays perfectly silent as you grab her shoulder and gently lead her away from the chaos and anger.
Of course, she seems none too pleased about it right now. Not that you care! You have more important things to think about right now.

Things such as: Where do you even go to look for Camille at this point? You've tried every bar in town, and the shrine, and-
Actually, that's all you've checked. You really don't know that much about her interests aside from that.

All you really have to go on is what Cody saw of her the night she disappeared. The last two places anyone saw her was the tavern and the castle.
Plus, according to Cody, she was talking with some stranger in the tavern shortly before he talked with her.

Detective work may not be up your alley.

That's it, to know the mentality that Camille had that night, you have to do something that she would do.
"Alright, I'm parched. Let's go get a drink."

"W-wait, you're getting me into trouble again just so you can go drinking!?" Yuuki seems extremely displeased by your intentions.
"Aw, Lass. I don't do any of my best thinking when I'm thirsty, C'mon Cody, let's go."

The older man simply shrugs and follows you to the exit. Yuuki, clearly not wanting to go back to an angry Anna, simply follows along behind you.

--

The bar in town is slowly starting to fill up for the afternoon rush. According to Cody, this is about the time of day that he saw Camille in here to begin with.

Yuuki never seems to order anything at a bar. She just sits and watches other people drink. You can't imagine what someone must have taught that girl to make such a boring person.

But Cody, he already knew exactly what he wanted when he stepped up to the bar. The bartender hands him an entire bottle of a very thick, powerful liquor.

"So, um. 'Cody', right?" Yuuki is so awkward when she's nervous. "I see you've met Jack, who spends most of his time getting me in trouble."
Ouch, Lass.
"But who are you?"

Cody takes a drink straight from the bottle. "Back where I came from, there used to be people who would scour the ends of the Earth just to find someone who wronged them. I never understood why they did that."
He takes another drink, "Now I do."

Yuuki still seems confused, but instead focuses her attention to the window. You don't really understand it yourself, you're here because you like the liquor.

Cody suddenly slams the bottle down, turning around to face a new patron who just entered the bar.
"'ey, Jack. That's the guy. The guy I saw talkin' to that Camille girl the other night."

"Is that the guy? He looks scary." Yuuki shifts her weight on the barstool,
"He's built like a brick shithouse, that's what." Cody takes another drink.

Heh, you're not the least bit intimidated by him.
"Aye'll handle this. You two just stay put."
After all, the bar is ruled by the drunks and the brawlers. And you've always held your liquor well enough to not be a drunk.

You stand up and walk over to the table that the new face is sitting at. Tall man, extremely muscular, he seems like a fun guy to be around!
"Aye, Stranger!"

The man seems surprised to suddenly have some drinking company.
"'ey! How're ye tonight, Lad?"
Hah, 'Lad'.

"I'm fine! Tell you what, let me buy you a drink. "
You flag down one of the waitresses and ask for a whole bottle.

"So, Whast'er name?" He leans back in his chair.
"Jack, And who might you be?"
"Call me Max, I'm the shipbuilder in town."

Already, you're not buying his story.
"Huh, Max, So you're a shipbuilder eh? Strange for a town that doesn't have a port to have a shipbuilder."

"Oy. Everyone thinks that initially. But I don't make ships that sail, Lad. I make ships that fly!"

You're having problems not socking him after insulting your intelligence like that.

You look back at Cody, whose sitting at the bar. You give him the thumbs up, and he gets the message of what you're planning seemingly by instinct. He leans over to Yuuki and whispers something in her ear, which causes her to turn pale as a ghost. She eyes the large space behind the bar with nervousness. A space large enough for a whole person to hide behind if they needed to.

"So, Max. I'm not here because I want to make small talk, I'm here because I'm lookin' for someone."
"Oh? Is that what yer searching for Jack?"

You smile, "Yar, Maybe ye heard of her. Name's 'Camille'."

He suddenly looks very worried, which is good, he should be.
"Somethin' happen to the girl? I talked to 'er the other night about a work order she placed. It's gonna keep me up all night, I tells ya."

"Aye wanted to ask you about that, you were the last person she was spotted talkin' with. I'd like to ask what ye two were discussin'."

He leans back in his chair, "Aw nothin' much, Lad. Just gettin' some things straight on the ship design. Women, you give em a inch and they take a mile."

"Aye, And we still talking about this ship ye designing?"
"Yep."
"The magic flying ship?"
"Yep."

Thankfully, the waitress comes over with a bottle and a shot glass.
Max reaches for the bottle, but you shoo his hand away.
"No no, Aye insist, let me pour it for you."
He smiles and looks away.

Perfect.

With all your heroic strength, you grab the bottle and shatter it straight against the hard dome of his head. You kick the wooden table as hard as possible into him. He flies straight across the barroom.

As if a spark was set off in a powder keg, tables get upturned, bottles and glasses soar through the air, and patrons take off their mild-mannered masks to become brawlers of the night.
There's a light thump as a teenaged girl throws herself to the safety of the alcove behind the bar. As well as a leather-clad hooligan laying out a troublemaker who rushed him with a bottle.
Some particularly sour punk with a mohawk kicks over a chair and cracks his knuckles in your direction. Meanwhile; a group of two girls and a guy start taking apart the rabble one-by-one.

No, no, no.

Normal barfights are for fun, but you're here strictly as a business trip. Which is a rare thing to say about a barfight, but you know the Captain had laid out more than a few men for not accepting bribes or trying to steal his crewmates. So you can at least understand the sentiment.

With quick agility, you dart around the rabble and the people trying to stop you. Especially that group who seem to go out of their way to attempt to block your path. Fortunately, they wouldn't be able to stop you even if they wanted to.

You stand in a less-populous part of the bar. Patrons file out of an emergency exit while the other half of the bar erupts in chaos and mayhem. Close by, people are picking up fluffy balls and taking them outside for healing. Quickly, you glance over toward Cody to make sure he's doing all right.
And you're just in time to watch him clock two people right in the face with a single punch. He takes a drink from a liquor bottle in his other hand.

You're glad he's having fun, but onto business.
The magic ship man seems to have crashed through a table and is currently layed out on his back. You grab the magic ship man by his fancy overalls and hoist him up against the wall.

"I'll ask again! Where is Camille?"
You can't hear it, but faintly you can hear him say "Look, if dis is 'bout her chargin' drinks to ya tab I'll pay ya back."

>"Wrong answer!" (throw him out the window)
>Whack him against the wall. He needs to start making sense!
>Let him go, he's clearly delirious.
>Grab him and take him outside.

Writing!

You're not going to get a clear answer from him out here.
Brashly, you grab him by the back of his overalls and haul his ass toward the door.
Not before you turn and give Cody the thumbs up. It's not nice to leave a good distraction hanging.

You're certain he can handle himself, and has likely been in a few brawl scuffles in his time. He's briskly drinking from his acquired liquor as he signals the group who seems to be cleaning up the bar. He leaps over the bar and scoops Yuuki up into his arms as he makes his way for the exit.
You are so glad that he knows when to quit. Especially now, since that group who was cleaning up earlier has nearly clean-swept the entire barroom. They must be knights or something.

You drag the sorry scoundrel outside, where the more pacifist patrons are gathering. Several guards rush past you just as someone is thrown straight through the window. You quickly turn back to make sure it wasn't Cody. Only to see him carrying Yuuki out the other entrance, completely unscathed.

"I-Is he hurt!?" A fluffy-headed girl runs up to us, holding a staff with a light green aura permeating off it.
"Naw, he's not hurt bad. At least not enough to-"
Just as you let go of the back of his overall and drop him. He explodes into an animal ball.

"Never mind, fix 'em up."

--

"I tell ya Jack, you're a hoot to be around."
Cody takes a drink from a completely full bottle that you're sure he didn't have before. You're not going to question it, he deserves it after doing a good job.

"J-Jack.. I-I'm never going with you anywhere ever again, i-if you do that to me anymore." Yuuki is shaking and trembling as she tries to hide her face. You're pretty sure that you can see a few tears streaming.

It's just a bar-fight lass, geez.

Max, now fully formed, approaches the three of you. He rubs his head and looks around in utter confusion.
"Hay, Jack. The nurse said you dragged me outside. What happened?"
He doesn't remember? That's perfect.

"Aw, some scallywag came up and glassed you. Don't worry about it though, he got what was comin' to him." You smile.

"Thanks kindly Jack, I owe ya one." He says, still petting that bump on his fuzzy head. "I got to quit getting into barfights- what were we even talkin' about before all that happened?"

"Camille is missing, any idea where she might be?"
"Oh, right! That's terrible news. We were speaking about an airship she had a work order for-"

"Airship? You're seriously talking about magic flying ships, STILL?"
Now you just want to clock him again and get it over with.

That's when Cody puts his hand on your shoulder.
"Jack, Airships are a real thing here. I saw one in Gallete not too long ago."
"Whar? Really?"

You think about it some, you do remember Camille mentioning something about it off-handedly. You thought it was some kind of joke at the time. Now you feel a little bad about cleaning this guy's clock.
Just a little.

"Argh, but anyway. Still any idea whar she may be?"
"I don't know, we could check the ship I'm building. I was there all day but it would be just like her to visit when I'm not around so she could play around in it."

Huh, go see a ship that can fly in the making?
"Sure." You say, scratching your chin, "Let's go."
