Mom and the Principal walk off to talk about- something. Whatever it is they were going to talk about. Probably boring adult stuff, I guess.

The rest of the student council watches as they leave, with mixed expressions of confusion and bemusement.

I am Masami Itsukuma, and today has been a strange day. Fortunately, most of the odd and dangerous events of the day have passed. Things such as a duel with a scary monster, and Kaori begging to meet her deadbeat father.
I just wish the whole day would end. This has been one of the worst school days ever. Which is really saying something compared to how my schooldays usually go.

Aiko walks up and wraps her arms around my shoulders, much to my surprise.
"Hey Masami! Aren't you gonna go keep an eye on your mother?"
"Um, why would I do that? She's an adult."
"She is! And she just walked away with a man!"

I blink twice at her, "What does that mean?"

Maeda walks up behind Aiko and gives her a hard, HARD tap on the shoulder.
Aiko sighs, "Never mind, so- what do you think your mother is talkin' about with the principal?"

>"How should I know?"
>"I think they know each other or something?"
>"Dunno, I'm going to lunch."
>"I'll ask her later."

It's almost lunchtime, but of course I'm going to stay and clean up. It would be really rude for me to not clean up after causing such a huge mess everywhere.

And.. School is halfway over anyway. I should stay for the rest of that as well.

I look over toward Kaori, and she seems to have calmed down some. Which is good, because otherwise I would have to hug her again.

Ryouta gets everyone's attention in his typical brash way.
"Everyone, I know a lot has happened today. But we all need to talk about something important. Let's clean up and meet back here after classes end."

--

School, as usual, was extremely boring. Again, another lesson that seemed to go over things I already knew.
I'm really beginning to find it strange, considering that I'm certain I've never heard any of it before. I should ask Kaori if school is the same way with her.

But beside that, Ryouta asked everyone to stay after school so he could talk about something. I can only assume what he has to say is important. I'm just not sure what he has to say that I don't already know.

We spent what feels like the entire lunch break cleaning up the courtyard. Right now it looks like a clean, well-maintained courtyard that it originally was. I just wish I didn't have to mess it up in the first place.
Speaking of which: Ryouta seems like he's about to begin! Let's see what he has to say!

"Everyone." He starts, folding his hands on the table in the pavilion, "It's clear we had a monster attack today."
...
Okay?

"Which is why I believe we need to step up. Masami can't be the only one doing all the fighting! We need to be prepared as well."

>"Hold on! I can barely fight them! What possible chance do you have?"
>"..You have some kind of plan, right?"
>"So what do you want? Training?"
>Other?

>"..You have some kind of plan, right?"
Ryouta has a point, but they don't need to be full frontline fighters either.

Maybe suggest some sort of background support roles. Make Masami's job easier, but keep the others out of direct harm.

"Ryouta! What are you thinking? I can barely fight them as it is!"

He only folds his arms, and smiles. Everyone else stares at him like he's completely crazy.

"..Surely you have some kind of plan then, right? Please have a plan."

That's when he stands up abruptly, slamming his hand down onto the table.
"Masami! Of course I have a plan! It's my job as the leader to have one!"
"Hold it," Maeda says, interrupting him, "Who made YOU the leader?"

Ryouta ignores her and continues, "Regardless! Of course I would have a plan. I was watching you make cards last night, and realized something. You have cards, Kaori has bracelets."
He takes the wreckage of something and sets it down on the table.
"And now, I have a bracelet too!"

He flashes a card in his hand. Then he gently holds the wrecked device to his arm as he swipes a card across the reader.
Slowly, a pair of metallic gauntlets appear on his hands. Up until he loses grip of the device and it crashes back onto the table. Completely de-materializing the gauntlets.

"See? A little bit of tape, it'll be good as new!" He laughs.
"I hope that wasn't the big announcement you had, Ryouta." Aiko says, unamused.

"Of course not! My big announcement is that we still have three bracelets. Which is why every day, we're going to train with them after-school!"

"Oh, well good luck with that." Kaori says, as she starts to gather her bag to leave.
"You're not exempt from this, Kaori! And neither are you, Masami!"

>"Wait, Why me?!"
>"Do you think I could use them? I never tried it before."
>"Um. How can I help."

"Wait! Why me?"
"Because Masami, if fighting has taught me anything, it's that you can never stop improving. You haven't even tried using one of these bracelets yet, have you?"

I think about it for a minute, and then I realize that he's right. I've never tried one before.
"No, I haven't."
"Exactly, you need to train with the bracelet as well. If for no other reason, so you can better understand how your abilities work."

That sounds like sound logic, but at the same time, I'm not sure I should be the one making that decision.
"Kaori is kind of my big sister. So I think she would know best."

Kaori had already packed her bag up and started walking out of the pavilion before she was put on the spot.
"Eh!? What? Why do you suddenly care what I think about all of this?"

Ryouta takes little time pressing his advantage.
"Y'heard her Kaori. She thinks you know what's best. So you gonna help us or not?"

Kaori looks at me and pouts. The irritation clearly spreading across her face.
"Okay! Fine!"

"Great! I knew we could count on you!" Ryouta's laugh echoes through the otherwise empty courtyard.

"So! Now that that's solved, first thing we need to do is-"

>Make more cards
>Get more bracelets
>Scout Fortune
>Hang on, we should wait until Kaori meets her dad before we try anything
>Lets take some time to think about it and not act rashly.

"Hold on! Aren't you getting ahead of yourselves? Kaori hasn't even talked with her father yet!"

Ryouta snaps his fingers, "Ooh yeah! She did say she wanted to do that. So, Kaori, do you want us to-"
"NO!" She snaps back, looking away from the rest of the group.

"All right, all right. But still, if you need us to come with you when you-"
"I said 'No'! I'll be fine on my own!"

I interrupt before she gets even angrier, "..but still! Ryouta, You shouldn't act so suddenly. Just.. give us some time to decide how we're going to deal with all of this first, okay?"
"Hmph, I don't like not acting. The longer we put things off the worse things usually are. Besides, I don't see why we shouldn't be helping Kaori, or at least why you shouldn't. Her father hasn't proven to be anything but a backstabbing-"

And with that. Kaori storms away from the pavilion. Leaving everyone staring blankly in absolute confusion as she storms away.
Except Maeda, she glares at Ryouta like she's going to kill him.

--

"Hey! Kaori! Wait up!"
"I'm going home, Masami!"

"Wait! Hold on! Ryouta had a point earlier, you're not seriously going to go meet your father alone, are you?"
"And what if I am? What business is it to you!?"

"B-because." I can feel myself wavering under her stone-cold glare. "I'm your sister, and this is really getting out of hand. and.."

And..

"AND I DON'T WANT TO LOSE YOU!" I blurt out.

Slowly, I can feel tears start to drip down my cheeks. I don't want to be alone again. And I don't want Kaori to ever feel that she has to be alone ever again.
Which is why I'm all the more confused when I feel something that's only slightly larger than I am run up and hug me.
That something is crying even harder than I could ever dream of.

Kaori wraps her arms around me and sobs. Which is backwards! I'm supposed to be the big crybaby.

"Kaori.. Why.."
"I just want to see Dad again... I just want to know if he still loves me."

She's still gripping me around the waist.
And I'm still crying.

But I have to be strong. I can't falter now. I need to be there for my sister when she needs me the most.
"Okay.."

Kaori's eyes dart up to meet mine, "W-wha?"

"It's okay if you want to see him again Kaori, just... promise me you'll be safe. Okay?"
Her eyes start to water again, gently I can hear her voice squeak.

That's when something completely breaks the mood by sneaking up behind both of us, grabbing us into a hug.
"KAORI!" Mom says, crying harder than either of us were, "WHY ARE YOU SO WRECKLESS?! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING EARLIER!?"

Mom, please. You'll scare the whole school if you cry like that.

"I- Mom! I just- Too tight!"
Mom sniffles before releasing both of us, "I just- I.. I already worry about Masami, why do you have to be the same way!?"

'The same way'? What is that supposed to mean, Mom?!

"Why are you even here?" The dryness in my voice replaces the sorrow. "I thought you were talking with the principal. That was before class ended."
"I was talking with him, but I was wanting to walk you two home so I waited. THEN I FIND BOTH OF YOU OUT HERE HUGGING AND CRYING FOR SOME REASON AND IT'S TOO MUCH!"

She grabs both of us again, squeezing us tightly.

"M-mom, Please. I can't breathe."

Trip dropped again

Okay, Thanks for the thread everyone. I'm sorry updates were taking upward of an hour between each update. It's a really serious problem I need to address in the coming weeks.

Thanks for the thread everyone, tell me what you thought about it.

Next thread, we will officially enter the END GAME! I don't know what that means or entails, but it definitely means that there is trouble brewin'!

I'm hoping I can run again on Wednesday, if not, Friday. I'm hoping to return to twice a week in order to keep things brisk.

Have a nice night, everyone!
