Having retreated out of the alley and into the sidewalk, I try and regain my breath while watching my opponent intently. Having dropped to its knees, the weed ducks down its head and curses me.

I overestimated Mina's ability to use her branch.

I think that she could eventually achieve ice-bursting strength in the future, but currently she has had her branch for even less time than Cecile.

Also, I can't remember a time when /tg/ didn't press the big red shiny [Remove Button].

I'd like to think that the reason Cecile went for full REMOVE is for a few reasons. The first is her not thinking clearly about the full effects of Mina being frozen, basically just assuming that it works like in the movies and she'd be fine until they thawed her out. In a split second decision like that, the lack of air might not occur to her.

That assumption would then lead to Cecile deciding to pursue instead, but perhaps due to how her previous fight ended and her distaste for killing, she either lacked confidence in her own abilities or felt as though having Overshine do it for her would shift her guilt if she ended up killing again.

Those two factors combine into something that would seem reasonable within the few moments when the decision occurred, though were obviously quite terrible in hindsight. However, something to remember is that Cecile is not a brilliant strategist or even particularly intellectual. She's an average teenage girl.

Surprisingly enough, Mina rushes in to take his place, using her to hold her down until a large black van pulls into the alley.

"Oh no..." Mina gasps, dissolving her armor. "I couldn't feel any-"
"She'll be fine!" Archibald shouts at her, then turns to two large men who exit the van. "Hurry up and get her inside, you dumbasses!"

Those guys have to apologize for being so late at least twenty tomes while they load Irene into the van... once she's secure, they speed off.

She gave Overshine control because she thought Mina was dead and had an overwhelming emotional reaction, not because she didn't care about her friends.
