You are Reinhold, master swordsman and victor of the Royal Swordsmanship Tournament. The King was so impressed with your skill, he personally requested that you be transferred out of the army and into the Royal Guard! Not bad for an orphan who was raised in a brothel in a poor fishing village.

The only issue at this point is your assignment... you've been charged to be the personal guard of the King's only daughter Marianne. While she is the vision of loveliness that you'd expect from a Princess, her personality is... well... she seems to have some issues.

After getting dressed, you and Carina headed down to go and talk to a certain Archmage... though you're trying not to waste too much time here because you have a breakfast at Sir Gregory's place to crash.

>Congratulations, Reinhold is now a fearsome DIRE WOLF!
>Much larger than their the other types of wolf, the Dire Wolf's size also means that they are also that much more dangerous.
>The Princess considers you to be her dear friend!
>But while dire wolves are massive, they still don't -quite- stand on the same level as people.

"Am I even 'gooder' than Reinhauser at magic?" Niklaus scoffs. "Miss Catrina, I'll have you know that the only person who's outright 'gooder' than me in magic in this entire kingdom is married to that sullen grump Gregany."
"And Sir Vincent," you say.

That seems to hit a nerve.

"I lost that fight due to a lack of physical stamina, not magical ability, thank you very much," Niklaus says, crossing his arms. "Everyone gives his 'World Breaker' all the credit for causing that crater but it was -my- Degeneracy-"
"Oh yeah," you snap your fingers. "Carina, Niklaus is the other guy who helped make that lake that we were at yesterday."
"Wow!" Carina gasps.

>>
>>37279829
Now, anon. The best time of day has come again.
>>
>>37279843
What if Catrina is her real name but it was too hard for her to say so she went with Carina?
>>
>>37279825
She'd presumably have an Italian accent, which would maybe sound less foreign to a Granachean (read French speaker) than it would an English speaker, I guess.

On a side note, a guy in the last thread asked about whether Luciana was pronounced with a "ch" sound or and "s" sound and Arch said it was and "s".
In Italian, it would be pronounced with a "ch", but pretty much every other language pronounces it as an "s".
Luciana is the female equivalent of Luciano, which has a "ch" sound and in Italian, Luciana sounds sort of like "Loo-channa".
The "i" is there but it is very quickly glanced over, like the "u" in Satsuke, it is pronounced but very quickly so that it could be missed to someone not listening closely.
>>
>>37279833
>my- Degeneracy-
Degeneracy isn't a spell, it's a way of life.
>>
>>37279893
This reminds me that literally until around thread two hundred I imagined Luciana with dark brown/black hair solely because of the Italian theme of Marconetti
>>

"So you're like super strong too!?" Carina asks, her eyes sparkling.
"I am indeed," Niklaus replies. "And super smart as well..."
"Ooh! I wish I was smart but I can't even count so I'm really not."
"Don't say that," you sigh.
"Yes," Niklaus nods. "Even if you maybe lacking in mathematical skill, the fact that you were so quickly able to recognize my greatness is proof that you're definitely not mentally deficient. You just need proper education, that's all."
"Proper... eja..."

It's like every other word that comes out of this girl's mouth just HURTS you.

"Anyways," you clear your throat, "I came here for an actual reason."
"I expected as much," Niklaus replies. "So what might this 'issue' be?"

Why the hell would we do that?
This entire crystal thing is Niklaus' experiment, if you've volunteered to be a guinea pig in a scientific test, you have a duty to report any important findings. Witholding that sort of information from those conducting the experiment is highly irresponsible.
>>
>>37279928

"I, uh..." you smile nervously, "...I think my sword might be talking to me?"
"Huh?" Carina turns to you.
"...talking?" Niklaus adjusts his glasses.
"Yeah," you nod. "Back when I was fighting in Cateno, it felt like it was watching my back, and sometimes I'd get random thoughts popping into my head that definitely weren't from me."

You were expecting Niklaus to laugh at you or something, but instead he start scratching his head and pacing around.

"I'd suspected that the increased crystalline mass would cause it to be seen by the World as its own being, but for it to manifest enough of its own will for it to actually communicate with the host?" Niklaus says to himself. "I can't believe... no, but forming a soul within the material would be enough of a strain to overload them so there must be some other factor involved..."
"Uh, is this a bad thing?" you ask.

"Bad?" Niklaus turns back to you. "No, not bad... just interesting. IT hasn't been growing on you, has it?"
"...what?"
"The crystals, I mean. They haven't invaded your body at all?"
"No, I'm pretty sure I'd know that."
"Okay," he nods. "So I haven't accidentally recreated Gran or anything of that sort... unfortunately. But perhaps the increased mass caused something akin to increasing a biological organism's brain matter and allowed it to form some semblance of a will of its own," he says to himself. "And in that case, of course it would want to protect its host..."

After some more mumbling to himself, Niklaus turns back to you.

"It's not moving on its own, is it?" Niklaus asks.
"No," you shake your head. "The bracelet's the only thing that's really reacting to my emotions, the sword hasn't been doing any of that."
"I see," he nods. "So it's reliant on the host for both mobility and an energy source... thank you for telling me about this, Reinhaust. I'll look into this on my own and try to see if the effects can be replicated."
"Uh, sure."
"So was that the only thing you came to report, or did you need anything else?"

>>
"Actually," you say, "there was one other thing. I was wondering if you could maybe give one of these bracelets to my brother-in-law?" you ask, pulling up your sleeve. "He can't use magic and I figure that it might be interesting if he had one since he's an assist..."
"Hm," Niklaus nods. "It might indeed be interesting to do... but he'd have to be here in order for me to prepare one for him. If I prepared a new one and gave it to you, it would bond with your personal magical signature before you could give it to him and then nobody would be able to use it."
"...oh," you sigh.

So you'd have to get Marius over here in the castle if he wants a bracelet of his own. So much for surprising him...

"Very well," Niklaus replies. "Do make sure to tell me if you notice any more changes with your sword."
"Will do," you nod.
"Byebye!" Carina waves to him as the two of you hurry out of the study and into the hallway.

Magic science time is over, now it's time to go get fed! After regrouping with Emilio and Karel, the four of you head straight for the castle gate and into a carriage.

"You're not happy to have a daddy?" Carina asks.
"Uh-" she suddenly looks really guilty. "I'm not mad or anything, it's just... weird."

"It's okay, I'm not mad at you," you say to her.

Back to the Karel!

"Aside from the whole Adrien thing, have you been doing alright?" you ask.
"I guess," Karel shrugs. "Those stupid maids messed up all my clothes now and I'm gonna have to get them fixed," she says as she looks down at her chest. "Everyone I walk past's been staring at me and I can't stand it."
"C'mon," Emilio sighs, "It's not that-"
"YOU'VE been staring more than anyone else!" she shouts.

"Because they're a pain in the ass," she sighs. "Being able to breathe easier is nice and all, but I still don't like... this. They're gettin' tied back up to Nicolette's size come tomorrow."

Karel continues to gripe about the annoyances of having an unbound chest for the rest of the carriage ride. You and Emilio try to tune them out... or rather, Emilio tries to put on the outward appearance of trying to do so. You can tell that he's hanging on her every word.

It isn't until both of them are inside the house that Rana notices you andCarina.

"Oh, hey!" she says, her eyes wide with surprise. "Nobody said that you two would be coming!"
"Well it was kind of on short notice," you reply.
"I'd bet," she shrugs. "And look at you, Carina!" she says as she lifts the little girl into the air. "You're looking as pretty as a Princess yourself!"

>>37280536
Honestly I don't see it that way.

When Reinhold told Sylvie he wasn't ready, I believe he truly meant it. Really.

And then there was the Elena incident, and he was told that "It's okay to say no. In fact, it can be dangerous not to."

That was a wake up call I think he needed.

I can only imagine what he might have gone through saying no to women - well, one particular woman - in his past.

Maybe it wasn't pretty, maybe it wasn't perfect - but he did his best with what he had and I think things have turned out reasonably well.

>>37280536

>>
>>37280558
So what you're saying is that several years' worth of emotional scarring and trauma was immediately revoked within less than a day because of one incident wherein a person nearly died. Despite the fact that Reinhold spent the majority of his youth in a situation wherein someone he cared for might die.

Yeah, I'm not buying that shit for even a second. 'Wake up call', my ass. It was straight-up OOC-driven heel face turning at its finest.

Not revoked, no. Thoughts and feelings are a lot more complicated than that.

And I'm saying your rationale is bullshit. Simple as that.

Hell, if you want a more realistic and truthful reason for why we ended up with Luci, it's this: Monique nearly got her, and /tg/'s an immature manchild who views all potential waifus as 'mine' unless it's a lesbian narrative. So in order to guarantee Luci might not end up with someone else, they rushed right into the Luci route.

Because what you're forgetting here is that we didn't even come close to even contemplating Luci as a viable route when the Elena event happened. We did it after the Monique marriage scare. Prior to that, Luci was in the same 'I'm not ready' zone as Sylvie was.

70's Canned Laughter Track.

We need to have Niklaus create us some kind of magical sound effect item that we can carry around with us.
>>
>>37280604
There's two sides to it really.
It's not like Rein hadn't canonically started to look at Luci with some romantic interest (like noticing the way she smelled, the dance, all that jazz) but it never really came to a head until the Monique marriage thing.
Basically, what Rein's reasoning for things is isn't always the same as /tg/'s reasoning for things, even though it results in the same outcome in the quest.
Rein back-and-forth between Sylvie and Luci looks like a realistic result of a kid not knowing what to do when stuck in the middle of a love triangle, but behind the scenes there were greedy waifufags trying to pull the strings in their direction without thinking about anything other than their preferred route.
>>
>>37280665
Vincent would punch it into smithereens the second he heard it.
>>
>>37280617
>/tg/'s an immature manchild who views all potential waifus as 'mine' unless it's a lesbian narrative. So in order to guarantee Luci might not end up with someone else, they rushed right into the Luci route.

Not really true. Karel and Emilio are a thing route now, in fact we caused it to happen.
There a lot of anons who like Karel, I think she's best grill, but nobody is flipping shit to stop it.

Choosing Luciana was part seeing how terrible she felt when told about the marriage proposal, part Monique hate, part ingrained sense of servitude to those around us.

"Well of course I am," you reply. "I heard there was food, and it's my day off so it's not like there was anything stopping me," you say with the most genuine smile you can manage.
"Reinhold's a glutton!" Elena giggles. "So now you gotta make even more food!"
"I guess I do..." she laughs. "For Reinhold and Carina... okay," she nods. "I'll see you guys in a bit, okay?"
"Take your time," you reply, waving to your beautiful apron-clad girlfriend as she retreats into the kitchen once more.

You were so excited about getting to eat that you forgot about the added visual element.

"Why are you smiling like that?" Carina asks.
"It's because Reinhold has a thing for the housewife-types," Rana laughs.
"C'mon..." you sigh.

It being true doesn't make it any less embarrassing to hear said out loud.

Luciana was pulling just behind Marianne at that point, while the Sylvie camp had bled out because of stuff like the biting incident. I really doubt /tg/ would have been sufficiently swayed to make Sylvie win had she be the one to get into that "marrying Monique" bullshit.

Above all I blame the way the story came to a crawl as we progressed through the Marconetti week, which changed how /tg/ envisioned the future of the quest. We thought it would be matter of months with strategic timeskip, turns out it was a matter of days. I don't think arch is responsible for this, he couldn't have predicted it.

Down the hall...

...and here you are. Elena's room, as noted by the practice sword that's lying on her bed and the bunny pen (complete with bunny) over in the corner.

"Mind closing the door, Reinhold?" Karel asks.

Niklaus, if I remember rightly, doesn't bother to remember people's names because he prefers to remember more important things - incantations, formulas, script...

... and since he's a little eccentric, most other people leave him alone so he's never really become socialised enough to reassess that habit.

Which probably made him incredibly awkward propositioning Melanie - which in turn may have been a large part of why she turned him down.

He seems like a very lonely, tragic character to me in spite of his ADD, and every time I visit I think we should try and spend more time with him.

After taking a few minutes for Elena to cheer back up, Karel begins talking.

"Okay..." she takes a deep breath. "...so Elena, do you remember when I was fighting that Salamander back at the lake and Inaba suddenly ran out of the carriage?"
"Yeah," Elena glares at her bunny. "I was SO scared, I thought she was gonna get ate up. But then you saved her so it's okay."
"About that," she says as she walks over to the rabbit pen and picks her up, "Inaba's kind of the one who saved -me-."
"...what?" you squint your eyes at both Karel and Inaba.

You can't even imagine how the hell a rabbit could possibly be of any help in ANY kind of fight, much less be able to save anyone from anything.

"She did?" Elena asks. "I couldn't see 'cuz stupid Emilio was holding me inside the carriage..."

"Huh?" Elena seems really confused. "She... turned into..."
"I know it's hard to believe, but that's what happened," she says. "This bunny right there," she holds her in the air, "turned into a little girl with white hair and saved my life."
"Umm, umm," Elena struggles to remember something, "I remember Papa mentioning something like that before! He said that some animals can grow souls and turn into people if they're good enough!"
"Soul Ascension," you say, snapping your fingers as you remember what it's called.

Well it's no less outlandish than your sword talking to you... probably.

"Inaba was such a good girl that she turned into a human girl!" Elena says, clenching her fists in excitement. "Why didn't you tell me that you could do that, Inaba!?"

She turns to her bunny, who just wiggles her nose in "response."

"C'mon!" Elena groans. "You changed for Karel so that means that you can do it again, right?"
"I told you about this first," Karel says, "because she's -your- bunny and I figured that you'd want to be the one to decide whether to keep this a secret or what."

she has a soul, the crystals would burn out.
Besides, the crystals actually increase the animals physical abilities, making them more likely to survive long enough to gain a soul. The reason the crystals are a pain is because if they become infectious, they keep spreading, risking loss of whatever is in there path. I think our sword/bracelet is treated to only infect in certain scenarios, which makes them FAR safer.

"Please?" Elena begs. "You showed Karel and I thought we were best friends so you gotta show me too!"
"Yeah, it's not fair to Elena," Karel says to the bunny in her arms.

Gingerly, she takes the bunny from Karel's arms and places her on the bed.

"You see how soft and comfy my bed is?" Elena asks. "Well human girls get to sleep on these instead of the cold hard floor. "Wouldn't you rather do that?"

Inaba bounces on the bed a few times and then curls up into a ball.

"Aagh, c'mon!" Elena moans.

"Luciana and Ariane are cooking us breakfast," you say to the bunny. "And it tastes SO good..."

Oh Reinhold's brain is used to naked women in front of him. It usually starts by shutting down.
>>
>>37281498
Reinhold's in his civvies today since he's off-duty. No jacket to give.
>>
>>37281498
In that case..

Ok, then give her a bedsheet or something

Guys, we can just grab some clothes from somewhere. The loli has been living here for awhile so there should be some clothing relatively bunnyloli sized.
>>
>>37281511
well fuq, ask elena to give her something simple from her wardrobe maybe?
>>
>>37281511
Looks like the only possible option is to give away our shirt, at least Luciana will get some eyecandy.
>>
>>37281511

Surely Elena has clothes laying around kids are lazy.

We should reserve this for a situation where we can tear it off our chest. Ideally in one smooth motion.
>>
Why the hell do you guys want to give her our clothing?

We are in Elena's room so she probably has a bunch of stuff lying around. And seeing a naked woman/girl shouldn't turn Rein into a bumbling mess.
>>
>>37281544
>Reinhold, you're taking this extremely well
that's because I'm pretty sure my sword is actually talking to me. My weirdness meter maxed out when I got a reply when I said hello to it,

Are we trying to make Inaba not feel so under-dressed or something?

I wager when we get back to the others, their going to think Reinhold got another one
>>
"There we go..." Karel says with a triumphant laugh.
"OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD INABAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" Elena squeals at the top of her lungs. "You really are a real girl now!"

She's far enough away that you're not about to freak out or anything, but still... she's naked! Immediately covering your eyes, you spin around so that your back is to her just as added protection.

"Elena, do you have something for her to put on maybe?" you call out.
"Oh yeah!" Elena gasps. "Umm, lemme check.." she mumbles as she races into your field of vision and starts rummmaging through a drawer. "Here we go!"

Proudly, Elena holds up a white nightgown in the air before racing back over to where you can't see.

"Okay, Inaba!" Elena says to the bunny girl. "You're a person now and people gotta wear clothes, okay?"

That horrible sound of something breaking overrides your sense of modesty and you dart your gaze in the direction from which the sound came... and you see Inaba wearing the nightgown that Elena produced...

...standing over a trampled cage.

"Oh my God, Inaba!" Elena shouts. "You didn't have to break it!"

Inaba glares at the remains of her hated prison, taking a few deep breaths before walks off of it and turning back to Karel.

"Now you have to keep promise," Inaba says to her.
"Eheh..." Karel laughs nervously, "...I guess I do, huh."

The morning after.

>>37281571
At this point they're just going to assume Reinhold make things turn into girls just by being around.

If Tina turned human right now we could have a crazier tea party than Lewis Caroll's.
>>
>>37281637
I guess Inaba really didn't like the cage.

Having FINALLY gotten to this point, now I can finally stop and go to sleep. It was fun but I ran for waaaaay too long and now I'm about to pass out any second.

Dunno when the next thread will be, though I will be running Princess Guard again.

and now I take questions

SHE CAN TAAAAAAAAALK
>>

Is it pronounced Ark-a-lon or Arch-ell-on?
>>
>>37281681
Thanks for the thread, OP!
>>
>>37281681
Thanks for running, Arch.

Who's the most musically gifted of the PGQ cast?
>>
>>37281681
Thanks for running arch. Great thread and a lot of fun.

How much are you enjoying writing Carina? Back after we first met her you were talking about maybe regreting having introduced a new character, but I get the sense that you are having a lot of fun writing for her.
>>
>>37281681
Thanks for running, arch.

Good timing, too, since it's morning here.
>>
>>37281681
Cheers.

>>37281697
Gregory plays a mean violin and Marianne, Lucie and Sylvie can play the piano/violin/both, I think it was.

But Karel has the best voice.
>>
>>37281681
Is there magic that can alter a person's appearance? Like change eye color or alter nose size, etc? if not, Is it possible?

Is rabbit off the menu at the Migault household for the foreseeable future?
>>
>>37281681
not entirely related to PGQ but still : I wanted to ask if you also wanted to make a FDQ VN, because I do love Char, but every other route seems cool

also Therese is a cute
>>
>>37281774
And once Tina'll have ascended salt will be off the table too.
>>
>>37281692
>Is it pronounced Ark-a-lon or Arch-ell-on?
The former.

>>37281697
>Who's the most musically gifted of the PGQ cast?
Marianne and Luciana can both play a few instruments, but Karel is by far the best singer.

>>37281709
>How much are you enjoying writing Carina? Back after we first met her you were talking about maybe regreting having introduced a new character, but I get the sense that you are having a lot of fun writing for her.
Carina's fun, though I do have to actively try not to overdo it with her.

>>37281730
>Is there magic that can alter a person's appearance? Like change eye color or alter nose size, etc? if not, Is it possible?
Changing hair or eye color is pretty easy with magic but anything past that can get kind of risky.

>>37281774
>Is rabbit off the menu at the Migault household for the foreseeable future?
It never was on the menu to begin with.

>>37281791
>not entirely related to PGQ but still : I wanted to ask if you also wanted to make a FDQ VN, because I do love Char, but every other route seems cool
Maybe after the Princess Guard one is finished.

And now I pass the hell out. Thanks for playing!

>Marianne and Luciana can both play a few instruments, but Karel is by far the best singer.
We'll have to arrange everyone into a travelling band once we start the adventuring.
>>
>>37281846
What will the rest of the party does onstage?
>>
>>37281806
Thanks arch
>>
>>37281859
Depends how big the party is.
A band could accommodate much much more musicians than 2, so other people would need to pick up instruments.
Plus, we could do with backing singers and dancers.
>>
>>37281925
Too bad Sylvie is incompetent at all of those things
>>
>>37282148
What else do you expect from worst girl?
>>
>>37282747
Not worst girl, just worst fanbase
>>
Oh god the loli population is growing at an alarming rate.
>>
>>37282859
That's fine, loli's make everything better.
>>
>>37282930
Not really
>>
>>37282859
Even more if Nick is allowed to do his elemental experiments.
>>
>>37282799
Actually it's not Sylvie's fanbase that's the problem. It's Sylvie haters that are responsible for worst shit in this quest with possible exception for the duel shitstorm (which I hold /qtg/ responsible for because nobody could be really so autistic)
