Welcome back to your regularly scheduled Cyclops Civ Quest!Previous Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/37167484/Our Current Stats: http://pastebin.com/iahm4JSj (Please have a look at them, but don't feel obligated to read it all in one sitting- use it as a guideline if you're drawing a blank or need some contextual information as I've essentially compiled every piece of information that's relevant to our civilization.)Last time a few things happened: We ended our economic boom spending it all on building the Arcanum! A hanging garden style city complete with a massive library- including a Gorgon district. We established a permanent presence and "Cyclopes" district within two of the Gorgon cities to help establish peace and control. And we also did some Art stuff!Due to recent events a few new developments have come to your attention:>+Gorgon Political situation continues to devolve+The other three gorgon city-states we were not able to send help to have devolved into anarchy and much of the cities infrastructure is faltering as Gorgons loot or otherwise flee their cities. The High priestesses estimate that as many as 500,000 Gorgons will be displaced by this chaos and come looking for new homes.>+New Crop: Chili Pepper+The Chili pepper is considered a "famine" food by the Gorgons as it doesn't possess any distinct flavor beyond a subtle crisp flavor and it's seeds are difficult to digest- usually just passing through them. Gorgons do not possess the ability to taste capsaicin due to their reptilian biology. Cyclops can AND IT IS VERY, VERY, SPICY. Your people quickly become enamored by it, putting it in: Drinks, Stews, Meat, and allowing you to invent CURRY. (few posts incoming, please be patient.)
>>37291970>+Foreign Trade Opportunity: New "Staple" Crop: Sago FernThe Sago Fern is a Staple among the Southern Continent. It is a large, up-right, "fat", high-carbohydrate, fast growing, fern- growing 5ft per year. The Sago Fern reproduces through spores and flourishes in the humid, damp, partial shade of the southern continent; using it's massive stores of starch to hold out during the winter. The Snow Cyclopes harvest it, "peel" it, and then eat it or process it: boiled, fried, or even eaten raw. It is however an incredibly important crop as it can be dried, ground up, and made into FLOUR, flour that can be used to make FLAT BREADS. >They are willing to trade crop for crop: They want plantains and sweet potatoes. >+New Spritiual Development: MONSTERSOur Civilization has existed and flourished for such a long time that our Culture and Magic has had a pro-longed and personifying effect on the environment around us. This has produced Monsters. Monsters are creatures that are not otherwise produced by nature and as a result possess unique qualities and "weaknesses" that may at times seem arbitrary- but stem from folklore, traditions, and values. >+Humba Whumba+: A Large, skinny, hairy, faceless creature that perpetually flashes it's gums and teeth. It is always hungry and eats anything and everything. Pure Salt will kill it and it flees at the sight of feces -even it's own->+KooshKoosh+: Literally translating into Vagina Vagina or Clam Clam. This Clam-Monster lures people with the promise of "endless pleasure" before drowning and eating them. Can be pacified with Flowers or kisses on the cheek. True Love will kill it.>+Grass Man+: Dumb, mindless, grassman. Shuffles back and forth to walk. Can potentially strangle people, but otherwise not a threat. Can sometimes be seen being eaten by Deer or Elephants. (one more, sorry, sorry!)
>even more gorgon immigrantsWe gotta start colonizing other lands. Not only so that we can get more population growth of cyclopses, but so that we can sustain the influx of gorgons. The greeks did this same thing when they faced overpopulation.
>>37292017>+Manaia+: A Benign Protector of the Jungle. Taking the form of a muscular, tanned, man with a parrot head and a shawl or cloak of vegetation, this creature plants trees and protects the forest. It will not harm children and can be killed by looking at a crying child or woman. When it dies it reveals it's true form: dozens of parrat ghosts.>+Tikibaling+: The Skeletal upper body of a Deer. This spirit attaches it's "spine" to hanging bunches of bananas during the day, but at night it de-tatches to hover and fly through the groves seeking out children and gorgons to consume. It cannot eat, but grinds and mashes up it's victims before leaving a pulpy mess. Can be killed while it sleeps. Alright guys, go ahead: 2 Actions. 1 Idea. Actions are d20 and Ideas are d100.
Rolled 10 (1d20)>>37292189Search for good locations for a new colony away from Gorgon and elf territory. Also, poor parrats.
Rolled 7 (1d100)>>37292189Idea Monster hunters
Rolled 14 (1d20)>>37292189Ask gorgons about silk production.
Rolled 9 (1d20)>>37292231Increase stores of weapons and armour
>>37292335What have I done
Rolled 42 (1d100)>>37292189idea try to expand more exploration of the oceans begin a search for mer/seafolk that may be around
>>37292189>>37292017At least the not-succubus only exists underwater or in tide pools. The tikibaling sounds scary as fuck.Manaia sounds sad. Maybe we should help them plant trees.
Rolled 9, 2 = 11 (2d20)>>37292189Initiate trade with Southern Cyclopses especially for their fern. Maybe set up a colony down there of our own to offset some gorgon population. These might be two separate actions.
Rolled 11 (1d20)>>37292350supporting, the empress should keep her promise. We have been helping her citizens quite a bit.
Rolled 14 (1d20)>>37292461supporting trade and communication with our southern Cyclopes brethren
>>37292189So we officially created metaphysical monsters (like physical spirits) by all our negative energies and nasty vibes? Is that essentially what Manaia is? Otherwise IDEA, try and suss out some of the spiritual heiararchy, get a summit of sages together to figure this shit out. What are monsters compared to spirits and animals and elementals?
Rolled 27 (1d100)>>37292512forgot to roll.
OP, what are some things our citizens are complaining about?
>>37292231>Search for good locations for a new colony away from Gorgon and elf territory.>Roll 10/20>Minimal Success. +Masonry, +City planning, Even though the full brunt of potential Gorgon refugees and migrants hasn't hit your civilization- The sage council feels it's in their best interest to start expanding more. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any usable lands in your local area beyond: The New Growth that lays beyond the walls of your mainland community & The Far off Volcanic ruined island just off the coast of the southern continent. The Southerners say the Volcanic island is where they USED to live in ancient times, but constant eruptions eventually chased them off- as did the presence of nesting Boiling Lizards and some kind of flying, fire-breathing dinosaur they refer to as the "fur-bearing Wyvern".>>37292350>>37292462>Get the Silk>No roll needed: Acknowledgment needed>SuccessThe Empress plays a long as though she had just as easily forgotten years ago as all of your officials and emissaries had (more likely just too polite to ask) but she has no problem in FINALLY honoring her side of the deal and providing you the secrets of silk:She summons her temple maidens and they bring out several cages. Within the Cages are fat, chicken-sized, moths. The Temple Maidens then lecture your people on silk production: "These are Silk Moths. They lay their eggs on a variety of fungal growth- These eggs hatch into Silk worms which will then consume it before spinning cocoons, you then boil.. " >+New Material: SILK PRODUCTION ACQUIRED.+
I wonder... could we use magic and our architecture skills to create settlements underwater?
>>37292765>Chicken Sized MothsGood god, that sounds adorable. Moths truly are the best.
>>37292928Pet moths when?Sentient moths when?
Rolled 36 (1d100)>>37292765Attempt to produce jungle silk with the moths.
>>37292461Bad climate for creatures that may or may not be cold blooded.
>>37292017which way is south on this map? Just curious because it seems the Volcanic island and the Snowclops community is up at the top. Is it just a perception thing?Basically... Is South Up on this map?
>>37293082Yeah I realize that now that I think about it. Do sweaters work for reptiles?
>>37292335>Monster Hunters>Roll 7/100>Complete Failure.>-Plagued by Monsters: Population growth stunted-The addition of Monsters when there otherwise WERE no monsters just a few years ago have come at a complete shock to your people and they are caught understandable unawares and unprepared. The Tikibaling is a horrifying menace to farmers children, The HumbaWhumba causes small famines wherever they roam, More people than they care to admit fall for the lures of the Kooshkoosh.. and the Mania although stalwart- even they have been known to murder some individuals. No one wants to admit it, but the Grassmen are also very intimidating.. they way the shuffle, convulse.. and just stand still for hours on end.>>37292461>>37292510>Accept the Trade for the Sago Fern>Roll 14/20>Above Average Success +Racial bonus. The Southerners are elated that you've accepted their trade offer as they welcome the sweet and savory new flavors your crops bring to their dinner tables. Your own people are however incredibly excited about the SAGO FERN for obvious reasons:>+FLAT BREADS DISCOVERED<>Made from Sea salt, Water, and Sago Fern flour- Flat bread is used to make a variety of wrap-like, flat, tasty, hearty and delicious breads that are a welcome addition to your peoples diets. The versatility it plays with fruits, meats, and stews as well as ease of prep make it extremely popular. >BREAD POPULATION BOOM: +1200 Cyclopes>-Plagued by Monsters. Population boom penalty: -500 Cyclopes>Current Boom: +700 Cyclopes.
>>37292864This could be a very useful option, but in the meantime, maybe developing more compacted settlements could be useful. And sewage systems, and mass farming. Oh god we can't handle the oncoming surge of population.
>>37293168mmm... the very idea of Giant Naan breat makes my mouth water.
Rolled 57 (1d100)>>37293168Create a dedicated force of monster hunters
>>37293281Do not roll until OP says to roll.
Tell us when to roll again. I'd like to roll for some of the following. 1. Ivory based export products.2. Magic based export products. 3. Tropical spices and spice production.4. Masonry contracts with the gorgons. 5. Elephant transportation contracts with gorgons, there's lot of business that can be done for mutual benefit of our nations
Rolled 5 (1d100)>>37293168Adventurers!(Murder hoboing as a cultural past time)
>>37292512>So we officially created metaphysical monsters (like physical spirits) by all our negative energies and nasty vibes? Both positive and negative, don't feel like you're being penalized. All sufficiently advanced societies eventually produce Monsters. >>37293093Yes, the map is upside down.Alright guys, you may now roll. 2 actions. 1 idea. Lets hear them!
>>37293168any chance for undersea explorations, OP?
Rolled 6 (1d20)>>37293367Try to construct some experimental underwater habitats.Possibly just for research and exploration right now. Let's get fundamentals down. Even if it's just a glorified diving bell.
Rolled 12 (1d20)>>37293367try for more undersea exploration, search for the merfolk/seafolk
Rolled 58 (1d100)>>37293367Alright monsters seem to be a problem, but the idea of monster hunters bugs me. Mostly because it seems like a violent solution. Perhaps if we create Exorcists instead? Cause a lot of these monsters don't seem to be receptive to being "stabbed at" until dying. Basic idea, Excorcists to calm down and get rid of nasty beasties. supporting perhaps this guy's roll. >>37293281
Rolled 19 (1d20)Establish a military training exercise to get us experience in fighting and getting rid of monsters.
Rolled 12 (1d20)>>37293430LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESSTO DEFEATTHE TIKI
>>37293367So what happened with the gorgons last thread? Other then their sexual reneisaince getting kicked in the ovaries by Parrat Vengeance. Last I checked something Magical happened?Should I roll to find out what? Or will that be an event down the line?
>>37293430and I do mean LIVE military exercise.
>>37293430>>37293429I agree that Exorcists more match the Cyclops ideals. The last time they got violent it caused a mass stillbirth
>>37293429>>37293501Plus it might be a nice go between for Heroes/Hunters and Sages/Priests to be an Exorcist.
>>37293489I believe the Gorgon Fertility god came down and help revitalize them. Gorgons now can be born carrying characteristics of the Cyclops like pale hair, brown skin and freckles. No true hybrids.......yet. OP hinted it might be possible
>>37293489I hope that halfbreeds become a thing.Cyclops with snake hair sounds cute.
>>37293489That happened way before last thread. Gorgons got their shit together thanks to divine interference and Cyclopses feeling bad enough about the purge, both with good rolls.
>>37293560was there a thread between now and last saturday? I had no idea.
>>37292680>OP, what are some things our citizens are complaining about?Mainlanders typically complain about the Heat, the Gorgon Ghetto, and the noticeable age difference between when Gorgons and Cyclopes typically "die of old age". It creates a lot of Sad and lonely Cyclopes Widowers and Sad Cyclopes parents who out live their Gorgon Children.Islanders typically complain about: Breadfruit(it's horribly bland, but it's cheap and they eat it anyway), The price of food (due to the recession), working hours, and occasional bad fishing or bad hunting trips. They all also religiously complain and argue about Soccer results.
>>37293501Doesn't mean we have to kill them, just get rid of them. This could mean grabbing them via ambush and taking on the other side of the island. It could also mean fortifying perimeters so monsters don't get close in first place.
>>37293605There's archive in suptg
>>37293618Thanks. That gives me ideas.>heatWe have public baths. Maybe we could add ice with magic?>gorgon longevityHybridization sounds like the obvious solution.>breadfruit being blandYou know what we need? Butter. Or jelly, or peanut butter, or whatever. Or invent sandwiches and burgers.>price of foodIncrease supply to decrease price.>working hoursNo ideas>bad fishing and hunting tripsImprove hunting techniques or tools?I think each thread should end with what people are complaining about. Gives a good hint as to what to do next.
>>37293618>Sad and lonely Cyclopes Widowers and Sad Cyclopes parents who out live their Gorgon Children. They may outlive their children, but not their grandchildren... Perhaps. Hopefully.Really we might need to figure out this "quality of life" situation. or how long people live.
>>37293618Wait, there's a ghetto? Do they just prefer to live together or do they not have the opportunities to live where they want?
>>37293714Working hours can be fixed with invention of guilds and use of new and improved tools. This of course means we need less labor, so we need to concentrate on tools that lower food prices.
>>37293618Ok we really need to beseech the Cyclopes Gods and Gorgon Gods to help create a new hybrid race
>>37293754well according to the last thread, the gorgons made their new "district" from the leftover bits of our new mega-library wonder.
>>37293754Could we get gorgons involved in hunts? They do have that personification ability and have better depth perception.
>>37293281>>37293429>>37293430>Commit to solving and finding solutions to the Monster problem.>19/20, 58+57/100 +overwelming census, +"Twinsies" bonus, +Cultural bonus>Complete successThe Monster problem has only plagued your people for only a few short years, but your council of Sages are extremely quick to respond: especially due to the Tikibalings habit of stalking your plantain and banana fields. This has developed into a devoted and committed cross-section of it that entirely handles "monster" affairs: going out into the fields with villagers and sages to take immediate action against Monsters. >Monster Hunting Council: +Sages DOUBLE: 242>+Plagued by Monsters penalty ended+
>>37293845they paralyze things, and yeah we generally do get them involved with hunts (I think)
>>37293407>>37293403>Further Explore the ocean depths and try to experiment with the hollowed out and abandoned Corals.>Roll 12/20, Merpeople roll 17/20>High Success for Merpeople -/+Racial bonus -TimeThe mysterious Corals, the Ugly carved Stone statues, the Kelp beds- the delicious kelp beds. These have attracted the attention of Idle Cyclopes whom enjoy swimming out to the depths to explore, to collect coral, and to idly graze and forage on the Giant Kelp that grows there -careful not to get tangled up-. It's been however quite a while and the Reefs show visible wear from nature: Fish, Shellfish, and other marine life have finally returned, the Corals have grown "ungroomed" and their shape has become more natural and some of them no longer even contain pockets of air.. and all the same- they all appear to have been looted and sweeped of any useful or remaining foreign items.
>>37293856cyclopic "YOU, SHALL NOT, PASS!"
>>37294104Merfolk are up to something creepy. That or perhaps the Merfolk are nomadic?
>>37294195personally hoping they're nomadic
>>37293754>Do they just prefer to live together or do they not have the opportunities to live where they want? They live where they want, they just have a tendency to bunch up together and naturally form Ghettos due to their affinity for little round hovels. The "typical" housing Development is a strong first floor of sturdy Cyclopean Houses, with a bunch of Smaller Gorgon homes sprouting around it and hugging it- eventually building on top of it as well. They only complain about it on the Mainland because with Gorgon Ghettos you get a bunch of loud, annoying, chattering, Gorgon neighbors constantly poking their heads out of their homes to shout across the street to gossip to their neighbor while they cook or do laundry. The Gorgon District on the mainland is more like a multi-layered honeycomb of numerous little Gorgon Houses, but they still just in general have an affinity for "grouping up".
>>37294275What kind of businesses do gorgons enjoy working in?I'm sure stuff like silk or cooking, but what else?
>>37292928>>37292982>>37292985>Experiment with Moths and unique silk production using "Jungle" foliage.>Roll 36/100>Failure. +INTERESTING RESULTS DUE TO CULTURE+>+Ornamental/Fancy Moths Accidentally "domesticated"+>Although Gorgons seem to see them as nothing more than a means to an end- your people find Moths "cute" and upon receiving them they get a little creative and they get a little "excited". This has produced what is known as the "Ornamental Moth" or the "Fancy Moth". Fancy Moths are specifically bred as pets and display a wide variety of dazzling colours, unique wing patterns, increased sized, and longer life spans. Coming in pinks, reds, blues, silvers, blacks, and varying combinations thereof. They are incredibly popular with Cyclopes of all Ages and a few take great pride in their Moth Breeding skills. Gorgons continue to find them gross.
Maybe learn how to grow coral? Big ones with air pockets.
>>37294333We should ask them about paper making, since that is the reason why we went with bamboo.
Alright guys- You guys may now Roll for 2 New Actions and 1 new Idea.
Rolled 99 (1d100)>>37294572Architecture improvement
>>37294453So cyclopses have done to moths what we have done do dogs.Neat!A Moth Based version of Old Yeller or Frankenweenie when?
Rolled 13 (1d20)>>37294572Experiment with food production.See what we can do with flour, eggs, and milk, and other products.
>>37294603I did not fuck up!
Rolled 18 (1d20)>>37294453Ask gorgons about papermaking
Rolled 5 (1d20)>>37294572Beseech the gods to allow for true interbreeding between the cyclopean and gorgon races.
Rolled 52 (1d100)>>37294572Beseech the Gods for help with the disparity of the Cyclopes and Gorgons. The races are obviously entwined forever now, we need the Harmony of Hybridization
>>37294684GET OUT OF MY HEAD CHARLES
>>37294603what should we improve and how?Should we get more compact? Build even Taller? Shit could we have skyscrapers? Or should we go the way of Ray and Charles Eames millenia before their time?
>>37294690supporting the joining of the Cyclopes and Gorgon peoples into one.
>>37294572develop support beams.
>>37294739I'd go for taller buildings or modular construction.
>>37294739Taller, more compact and more aesthetically pleasing.
Rolled 35 (1d100)>>37294758forgot to roll... sorry>>37294690
Rolled 51 (1d100)>>37294759
>>37294739Economy I think.If I'm not mistaken, we're still recovering from the Wonder.
>>37294739Ray and Charles were mostly into furnishings and chairs. We should go primitive Dymaxion with architecture, houses that slot into pegs, that can be stacked on top of eachother. Shit like that.
>>37294627Giant Cyclops sized Cakes and pastries. I'm game.
>>37294603Well, I guess the stonemasons are going to be pretty damn good source of money.
>>37294572Are elves still a thing? Did we ever find out where they were? Should we check up on them.I'm still reading the previous surprise thread.
>>37294943Didn't we manage to send diplomats to them? Dunno if we found their city yet though.
Rolled 15 (1d20)>>37294943have we made formal contact with an Elf City? If not maybe we should?>>37294977Well maybe we should do that, make formal contact with elf civilization.May roll for it next round, since I'll assume now ain't the time for rolling.
>>37294945>>37294954That is one way to beat the elves
>>37295025We could ask our diplomats to establish a trading hub for one another.
>>37294603>Make Architectural Improvements>Roll 99/100>Success +DOUBLES INTERESTING RESULTS, +Racial Bonus +ArcanumYour Architects and Engineers have gotten a little out of hand and come up with some new breakthrough innovations and developments:>+The Dome has been invented+>Being a sufficiently more advanced series of "Arches", the Dome allows for structurally more aesthetically advanced buildings with a greater variety of design and appeal. >+Taller, 4 LEVELED buildings now possible+>Due to further advancements in Cyclopean Architecture- you've developed the nessecary technology, knowledge, and skill to build 4 story buildings that are capable of housing Cyclopes. Taking advantage of "spiraled stair cases" these buildings are large, intimidating, and sizable pillars of fine stone work.>+Basement Invented+>The Basement is a floor that is essentially built "underground". Mainly used to keep Food Storage cool and secure from animals- your people don't see much use of it beyond that.>+More Efficient Food storage: Population doubles.>Current population: 11700 (13800 Gorgon)>With the invention of the "basement" people can now make "larders" which are enclosed storage areas filled with dried goods, flour, and even fresh produce all kept preserved for MUCH longer due to keeping them out of the humidity and hot jungle climate. >+Cultural Bonus: "Grass" Homes+>More Popular in the Country side, but seeing some use within cities: Homes can now be built with a layer of soil and then a layer of vegetation either growing on them or running down them. These "Grass" houses have many obvious advantages: insulation, preventing leaks, and providing more surface area for natural growth spots as well as providing stability as the Growth further cements and locks into place structures.
Rolled 55 (1d100)>>37295415attempt to create pools and areas for our more water-inclined Cyclopes and gorgons
>>37295493DON'T ROLL UNTIL ASKED
I have to ask, speaking as one re-reading the previous thread, do we have any druids yet? Seems Druidism is something that our people discovered last thread thanks to the gorgon queen. If so who do our Druids patron? Sun? Moon? Stars? Cosmic Snake? Hydra Goddess?
>>37295493We already have bath houses.
>>37295493I think we built some when we constructed the Arcanum.
>>37295547Since Druidism is tied to nature, I'd say they worship the world and not gods as their patron if anything.
>>37295547Earth? as in the planet
>>37295602That's what I took it to mean. They're basically animists.
>>37295415by the way, do we outnumber the gorgon cities yet? Like the actual gorgon nation.
>>37295547I'm not entirely sure we've gotten any druids or made any pacts with cosmic beings yet. Though we may wish to with the Sun/Moon, since they are our "patron" deities.
>>37295705The stars/sun are what we worship primarily.
>>37295705Honestly we seem to have a bit too much interaction with sun and moon.Moon gave us Blind Sages, Sun sent us the Golden Bolt and also saved us from the Ziz.If we do druids, maybe they should make pacts with the Stars? See what those guys have to say about things.
>>37294627>Experiment with food production.>Roll 13/20>Above Average Success. +Variety of Foods.>+Improved Cuisine+Never before has there been such a wide variety of Fresh produce, Meats, Seafood, Spices, Herbs, and other such groceries and delacies to be had at the Dinner table of both Cyclopes and Gorgon homes and it goes without saying that your people are taking full advantage of all these new ingredients.Curries have become incredibly popular: Chilis brought in by Gorgon migrants, combined with Jungle herbs and spices such as Turmeric have allowed for the creation of this spicy, spicy, stew-like dish. Excellent with Flatbreads, and meats. The Addition of Flat Breads from the South has been a GOD send to the table- Fluffy, chewy, amazing with fruit spreads and infinitely better than the Bland and boring side dish of Breadfruit. Sago Fern and it's flour, combined with Spices, Fruit, eggs, and milk also make an amazing porridge that is very popular. >+New Alcohol development: SAGO BEERThis is a Brew that is developed from the Starch in Sago Fern fermenting into sugar with "Fungal herbs" added to further convert that sugar into Alcohol. Jungle Spices, Fruit, and other ingrediants are added for flavor- making it an incredibly popular drink among all Cyclopes people; both southerners and islanders. >+New Industry Development: Breweries>Previously the production of Fermented Fruit drinks was limited to household chores: Wives and children would chew up fruit, spit it into pots, add a few herbs, and let it ferment into alcohol. The need and the want for more Alcoholic drinks however has lead to committed business and establishments that produce LARGE pots of both Sago beer and Fermented Fruit drinks for the trade and consumption of many peoples.((BRB, DINNER BREAK TIME. See you guys in a bit!))
>>37295415Life just gets better and better. Are we at Greece or Rome level of civilization?
>>37296039I think so.We should get better at iron manufacturing though. Develop simple steel or something.
>>37294690I think it's going to happen eventually, I mean this is purely one-sided racemixing, because the Cyclopean genes do not get diluted. You see, the children of the gorgons at some point also end up marrying cyclopses. It may take few generations and every time it happens, their genes get diluted. The opposite however is not true, since they're all women and beholders are not a thing yet. So eventually, they should naturally start becoming more and more like cyclops.
>>37296120I think if a gorgon ever gives birth to a male, it'll be a big thing.
>>37296140he shall become the philosopher king of the Cyclopes and marry the empress!
>>37296170Seducing the empress might be interesting later.Just imagine a hybrid medusa on the throne.
>>37296039Around the same as Rome and Greece at certain areas. Architechture and culture are at least on same level. Medicine however is not. It's something we've long neglected.
>>37296222good point. definitely should get up to speed on medicines, have the gorgons help too.
>>37296222We should research surgery or anatomy next.
>>37296222We really need to unlock hybridization between the Cyclops and Gorgons before we become the minority ruling over the majority. It doesnt end well.
Hold on, we know the spell "conjure food" and we have means of storing spells for a bit. Would it be possible to send magical wands charged with that spell in order to feed people?
>>37296222Magical healing is something we really need to look into too. We're very powerful magic users, it'd be a shame not to use it for something so important.
>>37296294I think we need to have a good understanding of how the body works in order to do that.
>>37296258We should research healing magic.
>>37296258>>37296294Combine the two perhaps?Who should we prioritize?and... Iffy question of course, but where will we get our cadavers for research?Maybe focus on cyclops anatomy first too.
>>37296345>Implying that will not lead to necromancy
>>37296291Our Conjure Food Spell is actually containers that will produce Manna. There are traveling acolytes carrying the golden containers if I'm not mistaken
>>37296290Well, India has worked on same premise for a duckling time.
>>37296290We could start making some changes to hierarchy. Since masonry has made such great impact on our society, I think masons should be allowed to elect a representative to the council.
>>37296018((ALRIGHT BACK, sorry for the weight!))>New Cultural development: Pub/Restaurant. >The Pub is something entirely unique; an individual runs an establishment where individuals may sit down and order drinks and food and eat them in a much larger more social environment. They are INCREDIBLY popular almost immedietly in every aspect and venue of life and everyone from coastal communities: ordering a fine plate of white fish, fried plantains, and a pitcher of fermented fruit. To Inland communities: ordering hearty peccary stews, with some flatbread on the side with a piece of fruit, and a tall clay pot of Sago Beer.
>>37296397Are you implying necromancy wouldn't be a good thing?
>>37296571Necromancy doesn't seem like something these people would ever consider using.
>>37296290Except for British empire that only became reduced from superpower status through 2 consecutive world wars and it's still going strong and it still has the royal family and it still has some colonies left.
>>37296632Gorgons might be tempted.
>>37296646Not the one's that live with us. We share the same culture. In fact, a lot of them fled from their own because they were so impressed with ours.
>>37296290I don't think there's a rule against gorgons joining mageocracy. They just need to be skilled in magic, not powerful and education is free.
>>37296565Royal visit to capitol when?
>>37296632No I think they would use something like this, necromancy after all is the study of the forces of life and death, not just zombies.
>>37296736Honestly its more physical things that prevent gorgons from joining, their headache inducing sensitivity to magic.
>>37296632I think in the end, if necromancy is introduced, it all depends on how we use it.Personally I'd like to be able to commune with ancestor spirits, have a deeper understanding on what governs life, and an undying workforce to tend to graves and other manual work so that the living may focus on studying the world.
>>37296597For some reason I was thinking of Lily the Pinkhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7pHDoJrrzA
>>37296841Sensitivity to magic is not a bad thing if you know how to turn it into an advantage.
so...can we roll for new ideas now?
>>37296841>>37296920how about we research something to make the gorgons more accepting of magic or simply protect them from the negative effects? We should have dealt with this already
>>37294690>>37294684>Beseech the Gods for help with the disparity of the Cyclopes and Gorgons. The races are obviously entwined forever now, we need the Harmony of Hybridization>Roll 52/100>Minimal Success. +Pantheon, +/-Mixed Results. At this point in time your civilization hosts a pantheon of different Celestial Gods, Animist Gods, and Spirits- Communion with each of them produces varying and different responses: >+Commune with the Sun and the Solarpriesthood+>Hymns are sung, delicious Mana is drank and Mana loaves are had, and the Golden Lightning bolt is honored and prayed to respect the legacy of the Sun- his ever burning eye. His Voice is loud, His song is one of glory, dominance, and patriarchal dominion, "MADE SEPERATE. DO NOT TEST MY PATIENCE, CHILDREN. I ONLY FORGIVE YOU FOR YOUR INNOCENTS AND FOR THE PITY OF YOUR OWN ORIGINS." >+Commune with the Stars and the Moon+>People are brought together up on the grassy clearings outside of the City- on the rolling hills spread before the Jungles and the Volcanic mountains. There, they lay down and recite poems, prayers, and symphonic duets to the cosmos with their arms laid out to welcome a response. The Moon responds first, "Ah, what have my Children been up to? How they've come, how you've welcomed them- how you've guided them into something echoing what they once were.. but it is not my place to intervene." The Stars do not have a rehearsed response- theirs is clouded by the sound of weeping mothers and infants that has yet to be calmed and otherwise blocks out the responses of others from being heard.>+Commune with the Elemental spirits+>Absolutely nothing gets done. They are far too interested in BEER and SOCCER and what started as show and tell eventually ended up as sleep overs and Fucking. Some things never change.
>>37297012Cyclops civilization, not gorgon civilization. If our gorgons express desire to learn magic, we'll deal with it. I prefer we stay in position of power against the gorgon empress.
>>37297029>They are far too interested in BEER and SOCCERAs expected
>>37294658Did my roll get wasted?>>37297029
Damn. This was one of the suggestions I've /really/ been hoping would go well.
>>37297029Fuck you too, Sun.
>>37297078I was thinking about our gorgons.
>>37297029>"MADE SEPERATE">"not my place to intervene">crying that has yet to stopOkay, time for some rituals. Let's butter the Gods up a bit before trying again.Maybe work on some theology? Argue that NOTHING is made separate, as we are all intrinsically the same kind of thing (a soul)? Bodies are thus irrelevant and species can be changed and merged on a whim so long as the soul is intact and unchanged.
>>37297029>"MADE SEPERATE. DO NOT TEST MY PATIENCE, CHILDREN. I ONLY FORGIVE YOU FOR YOUR INNOCENTS AND FOR THE PITY OF YOUR OWN ORIGINS."So the sun puts his foot down there. Again figures, he is the god of Cyclops supremacy, and thankfully he isn't asking for us to murder gorgons, but rather to just stop fucking them or stop caring about them.Unfortunately for him thats unlikely to happen.
>>37297147Does not really matter in all honesty. They either get good enough at magic to join or they get wrecked if they rebel. Not that they would, considering we actually care about our citizens.
>>37297208why do we want this again?I think it would be easier to enhance their life spam via magic or medicine
>>37297208That would seem to be in keeping with the teachings of The Stars. But I'm not sure what to make of their reaponse.
>>37297279agreed.Honestly we want it so we can stop worrying about Gorgons outpacing cyclopses in terms of population. A hybrid between gorgon and cyclops would perhaps put fears to rest. But that said, I'd rather us focus on more important things like medicine.
>>37297189In a nation with pretty liberal exchange of knowledge, how long do you think it would take to leak those secrets to the empress? It's retarded idea
>>37297279That's one option for a resolution, but gorgons have the potential to overpopulate cyclopes, so hybridization is considered a better alternative. That being said, we should work on the economy before trying to ask the gods for anything else. Also, we have immigrants coming in, elves to help, mermaids to find out about, and colonies to set up.Let's not bother the gods for a while.
>>37297318At this point I'm guessing the stars also function as an afterlife. Its a thousand eyes, and a thousand voices. The stars are those who came before. They're still cluttered with spirits of sad mothers, and dead babies.
>>37297208Welp time to devise rituals and pation the holy trinity that hold sway over gorgon life, The Moon, The Hydra, The Serpent. Also more study on anatomy.
>>37297208Just fuck off already, the gods have spoken and we've got bigger fish to fry. The gorgons are happy and assimilating as it is.
Rolled 1 (1d100)>Not enslaving the dirty and evil gorgons>Not practicing eugenics in the name of the glorious sun>Not waging a holy war against the parrats, elves, or Gorgon city-states.>Not working towards uniting the south and north cyclopses under the banner of the sun.Disgusting.I am calling and rolling for a schism of the Cyclops against these filthy xeno-lovers.
>>37297208>argue with godsYou do realize that this will only end in famine, pestilence and salt statues
>>37297029>+Commune with the Cosmic Serpent and the Hydra Mother+Your connection with the Animistic Serpentine Gods of the Ancient Gorgon Pantheon are.. a little less familiar- their gods are strange, old, and you're not even completely sure if they are indeed separate Gods or different extensions of one true serpent god (The Hydra Mother often depicted with her lower portion ending in the cosmic serpents body- her tail being the cosmic serpents head.)But you try anyway: Your Hymns are mediocre, poorly rehearsed, and no one is quite confident in anything, but confidence is met with a slight uneasy'ness and bashful'ness as a single, slithering, maiden of the Hydra mother extends herself down from the Cosmos. She Trails around your council, her body like the night sky, her scales like the stars, and her heaving bosom like two moons, "My, my, my. Two star crossed lovers; so different in make, design, and origins- but through such interesting circumstances have come together an unlikely pair." She cackles, to herself; dragging her long nails against a few of your sages shoulders- stopping to ruffle their hair."They wouldn't help you, would they? They wouldn't stoop to your level? To OUR level, to intervene?" She draws her body out to spread and lay her serpentine body out before the Council, "I am not above 'divine' intervention my Darlings, my precious Gorgon babies and their sweet Cyclops hubbies.... But it would certainly be quite 'naughty'.." She cackles maniacally before her body visibly flecks and rots away to be shed into a cloud of scales and bone dust for the wind to pick up and carry back to the cosmos. The Council is both confused and aroused.
>>37297417>1Hahaha shut the fuck up.
>>37297417fuck right offHe's also not calling for rolls
>>37297417Congratulation we can now breed hybrids

Rolled 47 (1d100)>>37297380Well, whether you support hybridization or not, the fact that the stars are still screaming due to the losses endured by the Parrat stillbirth plague is something that might be worth attempting to calm down. And really, theology in general is how we'd advance our religion in any direction. >>37297574Because we're number 1 provider of Ivory, which fake teeth were made of.
>>37297598They could experiment with the moonstone. Though we should wait to do that until we find a way to protect the gorgon mind from ambiant magic.
>>37297621Because that pumps up the value of ivory to skies.

>>37297659Oh shit, please use this roll.A lot of ideas this turn.
>>37297633>>37297598We could speak to the moon and bring up the stone and moon cyclops.Ask if this is a blessing or curse, hope it's not mad at us, or displeased.

>>37297719We're researching it for our Gorgons? The Empress is not one of ours. And I'd hope our Gorgons are smart enough not to share it with outsiders.
>>37297831To be honest, Yetis would actually be a worthy opponent for the cyclops. Half of the reason we can be as pacifist as we are is our strength and size. If ever got into a war with the gorgons or elves, we'd just strongarm them. But yetis? They might strong arm us.

This has facilitated new and functional medicines and practices to better alleviate suffering and encourage recovery.>+Refined Alcohols+>Developed with the help of Breweries- this Alcohol is completely sterile and for the specific purpose of cleaning and sanitizing wounds. It works wonders for keeping wounds from getting infected in this hot, humid, jungle climate.>+Concentrated Herbal Remedies+ >Within Herbal remedies and plants, there lies microbial compounds and chemicals capable of efficiently combating a variety of diseases and problems more efficiently than if they were eaten as is. The Science of anti-biotics are obviously beyond your people, but they do notice if plants are allowed to ferment and processed it creates stronger more effective remedies. >+Simple surgery>An Injury or wound is usually heals better when you've cut the problem open, pulled out or re-arranged what was wrong, and then sowed it back closed. Using Obisidian blades as Scalpels, special plant Fibers for stitches- Wounds can now be effectively be treated, some even that were once deadly can now even be treated.>+New Cultural Development: Surgeon+Where a Medicine man works more with illnessess, the Surgeons himself works specifically with physical problems that involve cutting someone open, pulling something out, or physical therapy for recovery.. Funny enough, there often just Butchers with clean hands and a Medicine man looking over their shoulder.
Rolled 100 (1d100)>>37297510Idea: Let's create a trade post like we did for the gorgons in ancient time, except for the water races, and leave offerings there

>>37298132>+Accidental Medical development: Discovered Healing Properties of ManaMana is a bright, dimly glowing, orange fluid that pools in the crater of the great golden lightning bolt sent down from the sun. It's become something of a holy spot for the solar priesthood and they dutifully tend to it, pray to it, and guide pilgrimages and tourists alike to see it. The solar priesthood even scoops up large clay pots of it to spread the faith and the delicious drink, even going so far as to invent a Hymn that allows them to create the liquid....However on more than one occasion someone has fallen into the Mana. Often times only an embarrassing where they're quickly fished out and cleaned off from the sticky and sweet mana... One time was different. A Crippled Child: legs ruined by a livestock accident. He fell into the Mana, was unable to climb back out, and seemingly drowned. The Priesthood quickly fished him out, but found that not only had he not drowned, but his legs had been un-hobbled and perfectly healed- although terribly marred with stretch marks and scars from the Mana seemingly forcing his "body back to proper".
>>37298309Slightly different hours on my end. Likely due to time zones. It shows up as 20:29:53/22:29:55 Also I now realize its a matter of seconds instead of minutes.Damn... that is some salty wound.
>>37298260Two seconds, not minutes.
>>37298316This is very interesting, maybe we should ask other people with deformities if they wish to try it so we can learn more.
>>37298316whoa, we have a reliably way to heal cripples now. I wonder if this affects cyclops who were crippled from birth.
>>37298393one way to find out
>>37298368it is what it is, we'll have other opportunities if op doesn't take the roll, I'll live.
>>37298316We should test to see how far this healing goes, like does it heal blindness or restore lost parts?
>>37298391Despite strech marks being a touch unseemly, I kind of agree with you. My only concern is that it seems to be a blanket healing method.IE it reset his crippled bones, but didn't heel the strechmarks. a man with a missing leg takes a dip does it just heal over the nub? Or do you wind up with a full grown cyclops man with a baby leg?
>>37298443Or how compatible it is with Gorgons.
>>37297574>Dentistry>roll 93/100>Complete Success Dentistry hasn't been something your people have given much thought to: People get old, Their teeth get fucked up, they eventually die before it really means anything. However, this has changed: life expectancy is higher, people live longer, and there are more and more people whom could use some dental assistance. Cavities are of yet not exactly a "thing" as your diet is almost completely devoid of sugars, but Crooked Teeth, Tooth Loss, and Tartar build up are rampant with progressive age. That and when Cyclopes grow into "second" puberty the growth of their pronounced almost tusk-like molars in males can cause crooked, misaligned, and obvious Dental problems.>+New Cultural Development: Dentist+>The Dentist is a Man or Woman whom gets you LIQUORED up on sweet and tasty fruit alcohols before they remove or clean an individuals nasty problem teeth. They are also capable of making Dentures or Replacement teeth using Ivory as well as pulling Cyclopes "Tusks". Gorgons make excellent teams of Dentists as they can fit their small hands and smaller tools to complete finer work within the large mouths of Cyclopes.
Why don't we map the coast lines moving south? We got good ships, we may find new trarding partners or good sites for new colonies.
>>37298569Definitely something we should do next.We should try to have a voyage going around the entire southern continent. Emphasis on "try"
>>37298569Because we don't have proper navigation yet. We've got compass, but no concept of it's use.
>>37298695I thought we did research a compass.
>>37298708We did, but we don't have navigation, so it was pointless.
>>37298695We have Math, Astronomy, the compass and Longships. Mapping the coast will be easy as pie considerring we make longer trips south to the southern continent. And we may develop cartography by accident at the same time. Not to mention the benefits of new trading partners or potential land to colonize. Can we get a consensus on this?
>>37298708>>37298733Such a shame, we should maybe figure out how to use it maybe with some science experiments.Of course that assumes things even work the same way on this world. For all we know there could be several magnetic poles.
>>37298472How would our blue cyclops' react to a Mana bath, I wonder?
>>37297619>Develop better Tools of Iron.>Roll 18/20>Complete Success>+Increased Iron Production, Increased Iron Quality+<>+Larger Furnaces, Larger Smelters+<The increase in population, Architectural Methods, has lead to many more iron smelter and blacksmith workers available to produce larger quantities of Iron and higher quality Iron tools as well as the production of more numerous and varied tools that were previously much more expensive.More Moulds are made, the Arcanum allows for more documentation on trade practices and techniques, Larger Smelters, and even Larger Furnaces and Kilns for Charcoal and Clay production. Advancements specifically in Domes and Arches has as well lead to Air-blasted Furnaces that burn HOTTER, LONGER, producing a higher quality iron with less impurities.>>37297730>Develop more Colourful and advanced clothing using Silks>Roll 91/100>Complete SuccessWith Silk production now in your own hands you no longer have to rely on the Gorgons and their Abysmal fashion sense, you can now produce your OWN silk clothing and you do. Silk by itself is white, which allows for the first time a completely new colour to be added to your wardrobe, but, still, it makes equally marvelous Red and Black: Robes, Togas, Sarongs, Dresses, Skirts, and something completely new:>+Silk Underpants accidentally invented: Thong, Bra+>Underpants is what you wear underneath your clothes, it is a strange concept, but it became initially very popular among Gorgons and Female Cyclopes to support their breasts as they age to prevent them from sagging "too much". It only later caught on in the form of silky thong underpants for both genders.
>>37298819next action, study compass?
>>37298889Compass AND explore the mainland.
Rolled 38 (1d100)>>37298871Professional navy, Marine troops and better navigation
>>37298919Still not time for rolls.
>>37298919Roll after Op asks for rolls.
>>37298733>>37298695What you mean we don't have navigation yet? We make trips and trade by sea with the southern continent constantly.
>>37299288Massive Fleet, glorious sails, long standing tradition. And not a single one knows what the fuck they are doing. They just point the ship in a direction and pray. And it somehow always works
>>37299288We probably navigate using the stars.
>>37299288As we explore, shouldn't we kinda improve our military capabilities a bit? We're peaceful but exploring the unknown comes with the threat of meeting something hostile.Maybe if we develop our military we should go defensive, to reflect our culture. Hoplites maybe?
>Create a trade post like we did for the gorgons in ancient time, except for the water races, and leave offerings there>Roll 100/100>Complete Success, Merpeople roll irrelevant. As did once before in Ancient times: A large monolith is dragged out to the sea to be placed before a platform of Stone. The Monolith is carved with iconography, welcoming hymns, some mundane and peaceful poems and chants before it's finished in gold and >gently< submerged below the depths- just before where the Deep ocean begins and the corals end. The Platform is as well lowered down similarly and with it clay pots sealed as tightly as possible with fruits, fish, ivory, metal goods, and so forth.Months pass, and people constantly row out to check on the Trading shrine on a daily basis, nothing. Then a weekly Basis, nothing. Your people remain consistent though: changing out the goods, swapping them out with fresh supplies, making sure to include products that are rare or impossible to come by underwater. Eventually they get a response.A Single, mysterious, wind-instrument carved out of some kind of mysterious Black stone from the deepest, darkest, depths of the ocean. Once it's brought up and out from the ocean and allowed drained of sea water it's inspected:Smoothed to perfection, shaped and carved perfectly large enough for a Cyclopes use- right down to the size of their fingers. The instrument however upon further inspection has an intricate and complex murial carving of many Merpersons grasping at what looks like the feet of many Cyclopes as they crawl onto the land- In the center of the carving is a Giant, Tentacled single eye. Both the merpeople and the eye are weeping. It is eventually played. The Instrument produces a long, drawn out, song that fills your Cyclopes with an overwhelming feeling of Nostalgia, Sadness, and longing that they truly do not understand.
>>37299538I knew it!The Cyclops were originally from the depths but the Sun changed them
>>37299538I am getting some serious mixed messages from merpeople.
>>37299538What.We need to learn the merpeople language.
>>37299538Ocarina clearly needs to be replicated and become a part of Cyclops musical culture
>>37299538there have been a lot of ideas this round.glad this last minute (or last second) entry got in.
>>37299642They live underwater, language would be especially hard down there. No aural medium with which to sing audibly, Constant wetness makes writing with ink difficult, and carvings incredibly temporary.Having a language might be damn impossible underwater.
>>37299538Aaaaand with that it's unfortunately time to call it a night! We end on the Discovery of the mysterious artifact, the "Ocarina from the Depths"!This thread has been Archived, so please go vote for it: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.htmlAs always I'll be hanging around to answer any NON-SPOILER questions you might have while I update our stats.I hope you all had a lot of fun! The Next Session is on SATURDAY.
How did people that live underwater know how to make a wind instrument?
>>37299698Thanks for running!
>>37299703Maybe the material it's made out of allows it to be played underwater?
>>37299682They probably communicate with something similar to whale song. Maybe we once did too? That might help explain why music and song are so important to our people.
>>37299698The fungal forest is on the tip of a continent right?
>>37299777>The fungal forest is on the tip of a continent right?Yes, the Fungal Forest is located on the Tip of the Northern Continent on an Archipelago like situation. It's dominated by incredibly dense jungle & swamp/marshland, before a dramatic rise in elevation feeds into less-dense "grassland" that cuts it off with a mountain range- preventing the spores from spreading and cutting it off from the rest of the mainland. That entire strip of land including where we've been developing is about.. a quarter of Argentina? Maybe a little more? From Ushuaia to Punta alta/Neuquen- that's how large our "strip" is.
>>37299698thanks, OP! I love this quest. and I love you, too.
>>37299874so what is the height of the Northern mountains? and is it an idea to cross them or circumvent them coastally? Is there any common knowledge rumors we know about them?
What are the life expectancies of our people now that we've made these advancements in medicine? And have we noticed any peculiarities with cyclops/gorgon children since having that pretty ambiguous conversation with the maiden of the great serpent?
>>37299874can you give more detail about the second puberty?
>>37299933>so what is the height of the Northern mountains? and is it an idea to cross them or circumvent them coastally?Hard to say at this point, but it's probably VERY tall as they're tall enough to block away the spores. The Tallest local mountain is just between two of the Gorgon cities on the map. It's tall enough to have snow and is responsible for the formation of the freshwater lakes and rivers running through our end of the Fungal wood.> and is it an idea to cross them or circumvent them coastally? You could try- I plan on extending/filling out the map further for next session to better illustrate our world as our civ grows, so don't worry.>Is there any common knowledge rumors we know about them?Only that the Elves are situated right in front of it.>>37299988>What are the life expectancies of our people now that we've made these advancements in medicine?Cyclopes: 120Gorgon: 85>have we noticed any peculiarities with cyclops/gorgon children since having that pretty ambiguous conversation with the maiden of the great serpent?Nope, nothing unusual.>>37300046>can you give more detail about the second puberty?Second puberty is what essentially turns young men and young women into full 100% MEN and WOMEN. If you wanted a "sexual anology" it's what turns them into Dilfs and Milfs. It's more noticable with Cyclopes though as they spend the majority of their lives rather androgynous, when Second puberty hits though secondary sexual characeristics become significantly more pronounced: they can grow beards, Become more muscular, etc..Cyclopes are a "Giant" sapient race, they can potentially live for a very long time, but nature doesn't always allow that to be practical, so they (and potentially other giants) have developed "1st" and "2nd" puberty to compensate for lost time from development.
>>37300261Parrat civ when?
>>37300261considering last sunday's thread was a "surprise" thread, will you not be doing a thread tomorrow? or will it have to be a "Not" surprise then?
>>37300564No threads tommorow.Surprise threads will no longer be a thing- I like it better when they're consistent and I think everyone else does too.
>>37300587Agreed. Especially since last time i missed out on an entire thread's worth of happenings. (would've voted Lighthouse rather than arcanum but I'm fine with it as it is).
>>37300587>>37300645But perhaps we could either agree or disagree ahead of time.
I love how my random idea before I went to bed about the Wonders ended up leading to everyone debating it and then actually deciding to make one
Mfw I created underpantsMFW I've opened up trade with the merpeople and discovered the ocarina. Legend of zelda anyone?
>>37300261>>Is there any common knowledge rumors we know about them?>Only that the Elves are situated right in front of it.Well I guess I know where we should go to in our next thread. Is there any updates to the stats we should be made aware of?The rising population of Gorgons vs Cyclopses. When should we start worrying about that? Is it a matter of "who's in charge" in our civ that determines our civ staying our civ? Or am I overthinking this race war thing?
>>37300857Yeah getting a little Republican in mentality when you start considering a rising minority population a "race war thing"
>>37300857Representation and localized governments usually solves minority issues.Maybe along with our mage council, we have a more plebian lower legislature that accepts anyone who is elected by simple majority in a certain district.Along with this, let gorgons run the gorgon ghetto. It is their part of the city, after all.
>>37300903I don't even think its that big of a problem. Its just a matter of if and when big droves of gorgon refugees pour in after likely gorgon societal collapse what to do with them. We have a population of ~11,000 evenly split between cyclopses and gorgons, what I'm worried about is mentioned in the OP, >>37291970> The High priestesses estimate that as many as 500,000 Gorgons will be displaced by this chaos and come looking for new homes. That is what I'm worried about.
>>37299874Question about the Gorgon Empress. Is she the same person as from last thread? Is there a line of sucession?Or is her "higher breeding" mean she lives longer/is immortal? This could have implications for our gorgons, especially if size=more magic/more life.
>>37301046I think what's more likely is that they'll base a new society around our model. We have two thriving cyclopean quarters to serve as shining examples of what a successful civilization should look like in the midst of their rotten, crumpling society. We can advise them on how to live a better way. We can even reintroduce them to their old gods and customs if they want, thanks to our discovery of their lost city.I think this might be a good chance to make strong, lasting allies.
>>37301287>Question about the Gorgon Empress.>Is she the same person as from last thread? No, she's changed over at least once or Twice.>Is there a line of succession?Yes. Gorgon Empresses are bred by other Gorgon Empresses. The Breed the same as all other Gorgons before them: Parthenogenesis. Each Empress has the duty to lay her Successor. Any unrestricted or unexpected or unathorized laying of any extra eggs will be punished by having her eggs smashed and fed to her.>Or is her "higher breeding" mean she lives longer/is immortal? Empresses higher breeding guarantees: Longer life span, better genetic quality, Increase Size, Strength, and Magical ability and a much grander "Soul". Gorgons suffer from a distinct lack of unique "souls" which is attributed to their lack of genetic diversity.>This could have implications for our gorgons, especially if size=more magic/more life.Size doesn't necessarily equate= More Magic, More life. It's just something that has ended up happening with Gorgons.
>>37301709>Gorgons suffer from a distinct lack of unique "souls" which is attributed to their lack of genetic diversitySo I'm thinking that if Gorgons start truly reproducing with cyclops, either through hybrids or random chance of carrying either breed, their weakness to magic will wane
>>37301709So essentially the Gorgon Empress gives birth to her self. an entity that has the same soul as her and likely same personality? Again that is interesting. Gorgons have less Souls.... meaning there are more individuals that are alike.
>>37302224>>37301756Empress is an AbolethYeah they need some good ol' genetic diversity thrown into their gene pool. They're a genetically stagnant race with no room to evolve. Not to draw comparisons so simply but they remind me of the Asari from Mass Effect before they left their homeworld and fucked their way across the stars
>>37302224>So essentially the Gorgon Empress gives birth to her self. an entity that has the same soul as her and likely same personality? Not necessarily, but somewhat. She Gives birth to Daughters that are exact genetic copies of herself: The best are groomed into becoming the next Empress and the Cycle repeats itself. The Failures usually become high priestesses or other such lower administrative personnel. An Empress typically lays about 5-10 Eggs to sure up the numbers of success.
>>37302377And here I thought I had gleaned some deep insight into the nature of "Souls" in this universe. But hey thats still neat too.Damn competition must be kind of stiff in order to be empress. Seems like quite the socially cannibalistic Dog Eat Dog (Or rather Snake eat Snake).
