Rock on, OP
>>
You become aware of your surrounding in the jungle. You are in a clearing walled off with ferns that extend high into the air. You can hear the noises of the jungle around you the roar of tigers the call of the wild as such. None of those present have any memory of how you got here its as if this is your first day alive. You notice some basics, you have things for fire and some basic sharp tools. You take stock and there are 11 males and 5 females in your group. You have nothing to do but you feel the compulsion to settle down, you are hungry and in need of food as well and need to hunt.

Also dropping this in for you. It can generate a map for us to use if you wish. Others use MS paint to create the world as we go.

As you go out into the jungle in search of food you stumble around crashing about making noise alerting everything for some ways to your presence. This does not help your case but as you continue you slowly get better at traveling silently. Finally you manage to sneak up on a pack of monkeys and the mayhem ensues. You each manage to take down several to gorge on and bring back but in the madness 1 female suffered superficial wounds and 2 males were hurt one slightly another needing a leg splint.

Several of you go to work producing silk and trying to produce something useful meant to catch prey. You already build webs and several of you get to work on quite a few making patterns and such for ensnaring prey. After several days of work and think tanking one of you comes up with an ingenious snare weaving technique of layers of web designed for induced panic to where they don't notice the real snare and for slowing preying on your preys innate fear of you. Its almost as if you were born to do this.

As a long term goal, i propose some kind animal raising for food. I suspect we can build pens with thick silk and some wood.
Also, do we have reliable water supply nearby?
Do we need such a supply as spider-things?

A few of you go up to the top of the tree canopy and notice how close you feel to the sky but more than that you now notice that for as far as you can see in every direction it is tree but you notice to the west that the trees are much taller than in other areas of the forest and older looking. To the south you see the ground appears extremely uneven.

Meanwhile the rest of you set up an ever spreading network of snare webs based around the new design.

Several of your spiders notice that the webs are noticeable and begin work on an invisible web and as you go you try different ways of spinning and such. One of your number gets a brilliant idea and spins it in layers and this seems to work. Those that did research tear down your old snares and replace them.

A group of five arachne head for the ancient trees wielding the hunting spears and one axe for self defense. You get into the area and you feel something evil in the air. You head farther in and notice that these are fucking oak trees not even indigenous to the area. The farther you go the stronger the evil presence gets. Soon from the heart of this you hear a rattle and skeletons appear from within. Heading them is a wight of great power. They clearly out number you but they do not come with harm in mind. They stop and a spell is cast and he speaks.

"You come into my woods. I feel your presence on the air for several weeks. I wish for 100 pounds of your silk in exchange I can send several in my command to teach you magic."

Plus, with us having just knocked out all our previous snares, upgrading to the now invisible ones, I say that we have some to spare, for sure.

My vote here.

I'm assuming that after breeding, we will lose a few males when the females get preggo.

From there, they will have a mutual eggsack/nest, where there will always be at least one female on patrol to play sentinal.

Also, since females regularly eat males, I suggest that at least 3 of the females are ones who are taught magic.

Finally: When the shitload of eggs hatch, we shouldn't need to breed again.

The females being the clear leaders of the community feel its time to breed. In between producing silk and training in magic they pick out 2 of them to breed and 2 males not of any use currently to breed with. As they continue a brood is born but in the process a male is lost to the breeding. 89 Eggs are lain however for the efforts. You assign 2 males for guard duty solely.

Your shipment of silk is delivered on time and the wight expresses approval with the deal going through and willing sends out 8 lessers wights to the point every day the training is slow and arduous but it goes as expected. 2 females excell and the rotting energies that are being taught are capable of being slung and woven creatively and well by them. The others are learning just not at the same pace.
Your society is slowly becoming matriarchal.
Due to the incoming brood food production should be stepped up

You scout south and find a river brimming with fish however along the way you are ambushed by those fucking monkeys. Your four arachne men fight back valiantly and after much practice just tear them apart capturing many of them to bring back in webbing. Scout size of elf forces
>>
Rolled 60 (1d100)

Alert the wight. They might want to know.
Let's just scout a bit first.
>>
>>37298436
I should of expected this kind of. knife ears LOVE jungles full of life and shit. I bet they also love killing "abominations" like us.

We're too few to stir up trouble on accident or on purpose. moving up river to avoid the treehumpers is good to me.
>>
>>37297955
I say we use some of that thread to make a proper nest, weave some of these trees together, we are not dirt spiders, we be dapper spiders.
>>
Rolled 82 (1d100)

>>37298504
This lets be all sneaky like
>>
Rolled 29 (1d100)

>>37298436

Now we're getting some where.

Alright, lets see... we've got a LOT of delicious monkeys (how many are alive? Can we create a farm with them?), so we should be good for food now.

I am agreeing with scouting. If we could find a citadel, I would love to create a near-invisible web around them and trap them. Or at the very least, we could start kidnapping them one by one. I feel that drinking enough elvish blood should be good for us.
>>
>>37298545
cant roll right to save my life can I...
>>
Rolled 26 (1d100)

>>37298547
This.
>>
Rolled 70 (1d100)

>>37298589
I got you
>>
>>37298571
So we're not going dapper diplomats? >>37296707
>>
>>37298571
All the monkeys are alive.
>>
>>37298636
I'd really give diplomacy a try.
Not that we shouldn't have a backup plan if things go south, though.
>>
What if we wrote a message in silk near their base?

"Dude, don't freak out, okay?"
>>
>>37298545
As gm I would note that while weather has been nice lately I would prep for shitty rain storms soon
>>37298636
>>37298664
As for diplomacy personally as gm I suggest waiting simply till gestation is complete, but thats my personal preference.
>>
>>37298636
Its not so much we don't WANT to be dapper spider gentlemen...

Its the fact that most everything we encounter will have massive negative modifiers for diplomatic relations since we're fucking TERRIFYING.

>>37298716
This would actually be hilarious as a trap setup.

>>37298636

I'd say that diplomacy isn't a "no", but first lets see what we're dealing with. If they're a particularly large collection of elves, it may be a bad idea to show ANY hand.
>>
>>37298735
power makes for great diplomacy
population is power
Wait for broodlings.
Do make stronger nest out of trees
>>
>>37298791

Related question: How long does it take broodlings to no longer be little bastards?
>>
You scout out the elven forces with your smaller numbers and you do it at a safe distance just so you can get an idea of the size of their force and their capability as a whole. You notice that they have a small town capable of housing what appears to be almost 300 of these fucking knife ears. You begin to get a little nervous.

However the triumphant return of two of your females fully trained in magic brings awe. As a display of their power they slice open the throats of the two tigers and 8 monkeys and bleed them out as a feast to drink. Then as a show of power they resurrect the corpses of them and let out a screech of ecstasy and success. The rest join in the problem of the knife ears forgotten.

As a whole you begin to get nervous your eggs open to the weather as gestation continues. and you feel the need for a home soon.

You can also begin experimentation this can be considered a free action if you only use 20 eggs any more and I have to count it as seperate.

Its probably gonna be 5 turns before they start listening to you.
>>
Rolled 8 (1d100)

>>37298911
We need to build a hatchery
>>
Rolled 12 (1d100)

>>37298911

Impending doom, I sense.
Prepare we must.

So, we need to evolve for battle. I suggest two things in order:

Find a way to imbue webs with necrotic energies. Spider web net that literally sucks the life out of you, without spilling a drop of delicious blood everyone?

Option two: Find a way to augment our bodies. perhaps Magic-resistant Chitin?
>>
Rolled 45 (1d100)

Maybe mark down our zombie horde count?

And yeah, set one female to start experimentation. Send a male to alert the Wight.
>>
Rolled 16 (1d100)

Begin building a proper town, combine wood (we have axes) with silk and maybe some light digging/landscaping. Include either fortifications or elevated buildings in treetops.
If we can climb, then provide no ladders/ropes.

I am combining this into one thing and this turn is gonna be longer than others plus mixing in the experimentation suggestion because fuck it its free. Why not the roll was actually nice and its replacing one of the shitty so it doesn't hurt you guys as much.
>>
>>37299231
On one hand I did good.

On the other I feel like Sift is starting to pity us. I don't blame him we're just having shit luck with these dice my gods. all these under 10s!

And grats on learning one of the biggest weapons in QM arsenal. The Blend Actions because the votes are so fucking spread out you might as well get creative with it.
>>
>>37299333
Sift has been playing these all day too he has had his own share of shitty rolls in fact think hes gotten a couple 1s today
>>
>>37299423
Yeah its kinda been shit luck day for /tg/ I guess theres some quirk in the code where we've entered a cycle of nothing but bad rolls mixed with a few bursts of sunshine lolipop luck.
>>
A month has passed you have clear cut to the north and east a bit getting wood. You have built a proper spiders nest balls to help you. This has left you feeling safe and cozy. The housing is silk with wood shelling to help with protection. While doing this you discovered you knew wood working to a large extent and are fairly decent at it. You have an extremely reinforced hatchery and such that is connected to your regular den which will accomadate the broodlings.

Your mages have been busy embuing the webbing with tensile strength because you also learned how to cast practile magic and were sent back with several actual spell books to use for whatever was necessary. You warned the wight of the close proximity of the knife ears and it strengthened your bond, his skeletons now patrol your borders and his protecting you both because he is a true and genuine ally that you have found.

Those 20 eggs that were experimented on nearly tripled in size being almost the size of a full blown arachne. The things inside approaching full gestation look to be arachne except larger spikery and heavily armored. You can feel the evil pouring off of them but that suits you approprietly.
Monsoon season is upon you and its time to hide for a bit.
Food supplies are up due to breeding the apes you have a steady supply they have a pen of wood suspended and kept near the den and accessible from the den.

Ooooooooooo boy I hope your litter of roid babies is worth it guys. If those things go hostile its gonna be a bloodbath.

That said having enforcer/brute strain will be interesting for combat.
>>
>>37299478
'k, scout south.
Reasearch better armaments.
>>
>>37299478

Hmm. Monsoon season sounds rather bad. We might be better off bulking up. Tend to evolving ourselves, rather than expanding our territory. Perhaps we could have weather webbing, designed to redirect water away? Like... giant umbrella?

>>37299542
We just traded Zerglings for Ultralisks. I think we should certainly put aside extra effort for maintaining them. Maybe build some more overloards?
>>
>>37299547
Its monsoon season buddy, your stuck inside sorry
>>
Rolled 96 (1d100)

>>37299478
I think we should get some more kids in the make while we wait. we have plenty of males and food so sex while it rains but also continue improving relations with wight designate an ambassador
>>
>>37299625

I want to say that we have enough of an army incoming but...

Dat 96...
>>
>>37299644 yeah thats my best all day i believe
>>
>>37299644
>>37299625
Keep in mind that this also the season for you to handle any and all research that is nice to have but not necessary to survival yet. Especially considering that no one outside of undead are gonna be slogging around much outside.
>>
>>37299644
Yeah. Well, we might as well increase the experimentation. We haven't learned not to go all the way yet.
>>
>>37299699

In that case, I think we need to do something to buff ourselves. Research more effective weapons? I mean, sure, we have magic, but we are MONSTERS at melee. We literally have 4 spears between the hoard. We should find a way to make ourselves more competent in combat. Either better claws/jaws, or better weapons and armor.
>>
>>37299644
>>37299719
Rolls, also I would note your back to full capacity so you have full access to your 2 actions and on top of that you can research new energy sources for magic other than just necrotic so like fire spiders and shit can also be done but the research needs to be there in the magic so you have two actions use em.
>>

My roll, and my bad. My vote is both. Boosting our combat prowess, both biologically, and technologically
>>
>>37299822
ill do that switch my role to that research making spears ourselves. and make the ambassador to the wight

I suppose I'll try for better.
>>
>>37299822
And with that note to end this on I just lose my shit. haha wow

I'm too tired to keep playing with any hint of forethought anyway. Best I can come up with is start experimenting with your research options guys. Learn shit like tool, making herbalism, and dabble in a few more arcane branches of magic.

I'm out peace and no being killed by knife ears. I'd be legit amazed if you guys manage to get them to NOT kill you. especially since we've allied with the undead it seems like.
>>
You realize you are trapped in your coccoon and know that you have access to knowledge if you brainstorm it so you try again. You think of ways to enhance yourselves and your weapons. Using some of the stockpiled wood you begin sharpening spears and making more. Then because one of you remembers a spell they saw in the book you have you transmute them to metal. This gives you access to many new metal weapons to use making you even deadlier.

Through research and experimentation you find a new way to enhance your venom. You add to your venom producing glands a spark of necrotic magic and test its bite on one of the monkeys. You see the effects immedietly as it paralyzes and dies in minutes makes you more terrifying as creatures in combat.

The horde notices that one of the females is favored by the wight and as an attempt to garner even more favor with him she is set as the ambassador to the horde further cementing the matriarchal society.

Research better weapons, probably stone age tech i'd imagine.
(i've rolled for this)

Also, if someone is interested and it's possible, we could ask the Wight about trading for weapons or the tech to make them.
>>
Rolled 15 (1d100)

>>37300049
Talk about taking out the elves with the help of the wight. offer military alliance and we can give him venom for their weapons in the fight
>>
Much like spiderbro, I gotta go. But I'll keep tabs.

In the end, Know my suggestion is to attack the Elves in the middle of the night. Go in stealth, and murder them before they can properly retaliate.

Goodnight everyone.

Can I get roll call really fast?

I just read the whole post and I think you are a great GM. I really hope I'm up around when the next post'll start and I look forward to possibly seeing you do other civ threads.
P.S Also this is my first time using a computer so I'm trying to do dice.

So what is our spider clan speciality again?

I didn't think we had one. :P
